Bethany Lutheran Church, worshipping virtually (Zoom), physically distancing, but keeping our ties is now conducting the Sunday at 10 am Worship Services from the beautiful Gundale Chapel on Augsburg Campus. At this time limited to only worship leaders on site we are looking forward to when we can safely gather in person. Augsburg University and especially Leif Anderson has been wonderful to work with as Bethany moves out into the community and into a public church in passing on its physical building to Augsburg. Augsburg's support of spiritual and faith growth of its students and community within different religions is a joy to see and Bethany is glad to be a part of that.Lorraine Wookey

The cafeteria is subpar, not only in food quality, but in sanitary means. There is low variety and Augsburg encourages food waste by requiring that students' meals fit certain criteria, because they are paid to do so. As for cleanliness, the floors are sticky, and it is common to find a crushed banana or two on the floor. The tables and floors are not cleaned regularly, if at all, resulting in an unhealthy eating environment, full of bacteria. Not to mention, this school encourages unhealthful habits such as food waste and cleaning habits. This cafeteria should not remain in service.Ansel Erol (Sir. Anselot)

My mother, sister, and I are all proud alumnus of Augsburg (Class of 97', 08' & '16). The professors are great – they are always willing to help a student. Every year, at the beginning of the Fall Semester, students go out and volunteer around the community. They invite well-known speakers (i.e. Bill Nye, Steve Wozniak, and Jimmy Carter) to campus; both the public and students are invited to attend. They are open to all regions, not just Lutherans. I would recommend this school to anyone, but consider going to Community College then transferring, it helps with the cost.Tiffiney Biorn

When I first started signing up for my MBA I advised them that I had just graduated with my bachelors degree. My goal was to start August 5, and I submitted all my necessary paperwork and cooperated as such. When it got to my transcripts I was advised I could not start because the conferral date was not on the transcripts. The enrollment specialist told me to reach out to my previous school. I did and it was a hassle. I called the enrollment specialist at Capella to advise of the updates to only find out that Capella’s registrar team had already been in contact with my school. I wanted to start on the 5th as it was very discouraging to go through the process to be turned away at last minute. 1). Total waist of time as I took time out of my day to complete orientation and do what they advised of me. 2) I asked to speak with a supervisor who was very vague and could not provide the information needed. 3) I again called Capella to try and escalate the situation, but the manager never returned my call. I feel as if they had me sign up because they were the ones to get paid for each student to enroll and failed to educate me properly in the beginning, which is very misleading and discouraging. Since no one wanted to comply and take responsibility I will be escalating this to the BBB as this is not my fault and I should had been able to start in the promised time given and should have been educated properly.Tearra McCray

The worst university ever! They made me waste my time and my money from the first day, every time I communicated with them each counselor told me something different, and more than a month passed and I did not have an accurate answer on the status of my application, after a month a person from human resources let me know that I had to do my transcripts equivalency again on another website because the one I had already sent twice to them waiting for they review it (and that they themselves told me it was okay to do it that way) was not valid for them to take me into account to start the course this past October. 1- First time the transcripts were not encrypted, so they asked my to ask the institution they send it again but encrypted this time and I did it and sent it again. And after that they let me know that didn’t work for them. So I wasted my time, my money and above all the opportunity to start on the desired date. A very bad job of the staff. Very bad communication with the students who want to start there, and they also contradict each other. They all say different things and waste your time. They are also very rude. I hope that no one has this bad experience, nor misses the opportunity to start the course on the date they planned, and due to the horrible work of other people you lose opportunities in life.Claudia Espinosa

From the beginning of my Master's level school search, Capella stood out. I had a great recommendation from a friend already, but in researching complete online programs to work with my schedule, Capella checked all of the boxes I needed. I had a wonderful experience with my admissions counselor and continue to have great interactions with all communication. I am happy with all faculty thus far and feel that I am learning exactly what I need for my future as a school counselor. The course load is what I expected it to be and the time I spend on classwork is time well spent. I feel very confident that I will be prepared to enter the field of school counseling when I graduate. The very first thing Capella does once you are enrolled is to start you in a class to help navigate your program and get you familiar with the online format. This helped immensely and calmed my nerves for entering into a graduate program online. I feel very well cared for and have not had a negative experience yet! I graduated from Adler Graduate School in 2021 with a MA in Co-Occurring Disorders. After attaining my BA from the U of M and pursuing a Masters at a different University – I can attest that Adler Graduate School provides a high quality education that holds their students to very high standards. I am grateful for the education I got there. And because of these high standards, employers recognize Adler as a place that creates high quality, educated, and well informed graduates/professionals. Meaning, you’ll graduate with a good reputation when prospective employers see that you attended Adler. Adler’s emphasis on Trauma-Informed, Multi-cultural, and Social-justice-focused care positioned me to enter the field of Counseling Psychology and Mental/Behavioral health as an “expert” in trauma-focused interventions and co-occurring disorders. As a new therapist, I was surprised to learn that other professionals lacked this knowledge that Adler emphasized as foundational. GRAD SCHOOL IS HARD. There is no way around it. Though, my professors and advisors worked closely with me to ensure I had necessary organizational and time management practices in place, emphasized self-care to reduce risks of burnout or dropping out (from the demands of grad school), and guided me towards a structured course projection that was manageable and attainable. My only complaint is the lack of preparation for balancing practicum with classes. It is my understanding that other MA programs are structured in which students finish all coursework before doing their practicum hours. This wasn’t well defined or outlined ahead of time. Therefore it was a HUGE surprise when the amount of work doubled when trying to pursue practicum hours while still completing classes. For students who need to work their way through Grad School, I’d ask ahead of time regarding best practices to balance work, school, and practicum.Laura Sosalla

I was referred to AGS by 2 alumni and I have since helped others make the decision to attend AGS. I attended AGS through the transition from Richfield to Minnetonka. I walked into the school excited, intimidated and scared. I encountered an amazing first class experience in which I instantly gained a strong sense of belonging and discovered the courage to be imperfect. AGS works hard to remain relevant and maintain strong instructors. Truthfully, my experience included a couple of 'dud' instructors, but AGS took student reviews seriously and upgraded staff to meet the needs of the students. In fact, during my time at AGS, the school upgraded their building, their staff, their class structure, their graduation requirements and more all to remain relevant to the profession, the education system, and the students. Throughout those transitions, AGS also worked to maintain foundations of Alfred Adler and the importance of multicultural awareness–in my opinion, 2 of the strongest selling points of this school.Carol Hoopman

As an Adler graduate I can attest that the faculty and staff live what they teach. They are not only inclusive, authentic, and responsive in their approaches to all students, both online as well as face-to-face, but the quality of the educators and curriculum are outstanding. The school's CACREP accreditation is well-deserved. Adlerian philosophy also permeates through the student body, through which students will make lifelong friends and trusted colleagues. Meanwhile, students will learn all aspects of evidence-based therapeutic interventions, therapies and their histories, through the application of counseling practices in the clinic, transforming into a professional therapist and a better human person. I can not say enough great things things about my experience at Adler Graduate School. To anyone contemplating entering this academic facility, I say "do not hesitate!" I'm so happy to have found Acacia. Nearly everyone I've encountered there has been kind, welcoming, and reassuring. My therapist is a great fit for me, and she's really helped me progress in my therapy goals as well as along other avenues I didn't even know I needed. She's fantastic about letting me discover things myself, but also really skilled at asking insightful questions or making astute observations that help me learn and develop as a person and toward my goals. Acacia's office manager Sam is extraordinary: kind, efficient, and incredibly understanding. Fairly early on, I had an unexpected issue develop with my insurance, and although the offsite billing person was a bit less than helpful, Acacia Minneapolis made it work for everyone. I'm a bit older than the undergrad demographic, but have found the clinic no less inviting for it. Acacia is very clear about being welcoming to LGBTQ+ people as well as others from a variety of cultural backgrounds. I've not worked with other therapists there, but in the pre-covid waiting room, they (and the adorable therapy dog!) always seemed friendly and kind. Acacia might not be the best fit for everyone seeking help with mental health, but it is absolutely worth a try to see if it works for you.Tammy

Okay – I have been there two times now, so my review is limited in experience, HOWEVER, during this short time, ACACIA has been truly wonderful. It is my first time acquiring mental health services, so I am new to all of that, but the administration and my therapist have been truly professional. It did take a while to get a first appointment since they have a long waiting list, so I see this an indication of good services. The only thing I would recommend to the team would be to update people on the wait list often, since it can be mute for a while. I had thought that they had forgotten about me and was starting to look into other providers. Finally, I must say that Acacia does work to help low-income students to access these services. I read in somewhere in the office so not sure who benefits or how they do it, but I truly appreciate that they do this. It says a lot about their mission as a business, and I am happy to be a costumer of a business like that.Kelly Meza Prado

A year ago I would have given Acacia a five star review, but within the past six months their psychiatry team has been a mess. There seems to be a new psychiatrist every few months, making access to medication difficult. The psychiatry team has taken days in the past to approve prescription refills. It seems they have a retention issue with psychiatrists, as the one good psychiatrist I have seen there, Susan, left to work for a different team. The therapist I saw there is starting her own practice, but I did have a good experience with therapy there. The receptionists are also very kind but unfortunately there is not much they can do for prescription issues when the psychiatry team has been so inconsistent and incompetent in my opinion.Hope R.

Do your research on employable fields, obviously, and go from there. The size of the U allows anonymity for those who want it, or intensely personal experiences through volunteering, groups, serving on boards, research opportunities, etc. I did all of those things while doing my undergrad at the U, and went on to happily accept an offer to do grad school there as well. I worked my butt off, but did end up landing an amazing job. I will be paying them appalling amounts of money well into my mid-to-late 40's, but that problem extends far beyond this one school. I have some of my best friends and memories from the U, as well as a great education. Highly recommended.Maureen Laufenberg

I graduated from this University. It is one of the top ranked research institutions in the country. Their pharmacy school is ranked second in the nation and believe me they deserve it. Excellent instructors and facilities. You are treated with respect by your professors. The campus is beautiful and the student body friendly. Minneapolis has a reputation as the biggest small town you'll ever know. Large metropolitan area but the people are friendly and down to earth. I love this place.Cary Miller

If you don't get weeded out in your first two years, you will enjoy the upper level courses. The best years were in junior and senior years where I interacted closely with accomplished faculty and their research. They don't give away degrees at this school. The University demands that you be resourceful and if you are used to being babied you will not survive this school or life, for that matter. Currently a junior here at UST double majoring in Operations/ Supply Chain Management and Catholic Studies, and I love it here! I have had great support both with choosing my career path and in my development as a person. The faculty here has helped me realize how I can use my God-given gifts to the best of my ability to better the world. I have met fantastic friends who push me everyday to grow in my Catholic faith, and I know for a fact that these are life-long connections. Campus Ministry here is awesome- they put on many retreats, events, and multiple masses on campus each day. The faculty within the Business school and the Catholic Studies department have also been so helpful inside and outside the classroom, and I know it to be the same in other departments as well. At St. Thomas, there is a close-knit community. It is hard to describe, but as a student here you truly feel like you are a part of something bigger than yourself. 5 stars, two thumbs up, 10/10.Benjamin Dymit

I would not recommend ordering books from the bookstore. I placed an order with them almost a month ago, requesting that it be shipped as I am 40 minutes from campus and had received an email that they shipped the books, but with no order number or tracking and they charged my account. I never received my books and I had called three times, each time being told that the books "must be on their way". Classes started and I was panicking because I wasn't able to do the homework for my masters classes. I finally got ahold of another person in the bookstore and they said my books have been sitting there the entire time and were never shipped. Thank you St. Thomas bookstore for making the beginning of my masters program extremely stressful, like going back to school isn't already stressful enough.Elizabeth Walker

I’m a freshman here right now and I love it! St. Thomas is great and has so much to offer. One of my favorite things about St. Thomas is it’s location. We are in a beautiful area of St. Paul and are a seven minute bus ride away from downtown Minneapolis. The Mississippi river is also right down the street and has miles of excellent walking paths and bike paths. I also really love the size of our campus. It’s the perfect, “not too big, not too small” school. I also love the size because of the amazing access it gives you to the faculty. My classes are small and all my professors know my face and name and are always ready to help with anything. The people are great and to top it all off, the campus is insanely beautiful! St. Thomas is an excellent school!Brenna Carberry

I currently go to Saint Mary's University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities, and I absolutely loved it for a while. The other students and professors as great. The other students are friendly and really want to learn, and the professors are knowledgeable and approachable. As far as administration goes… they are the school's biggest downfall, and the reason why I would not recommend this school to my worst enemy. They make a habit of cancelling classes merely days in advance withou adding a replacement, leaving students who need these classes for a prerequisite out in the cold with no direction. Before applying to this school, PLEASE think twice. One of my most important classes was cancelled 3 days before the start of the semester, leaving me unable to take a prerequisite class for my required internship. As a result, I have to stay an extra semester to take a single class, which I will have to pay for out of pocket because financial aid will not pay for one class. I am not the only student that has been negatively impacted by Saint Mary's cancelling of classes without consideration of students. Before enrolling in this school, consider if you have the time or money to stay an extra semester or two if they decide to cancel a required class at the last minute. It's not something you have control over, and it's a consideration I wish I'd taken, or been warned of, before enrolling. If you aren't willing to spend that extra time or money with Saint Mary's, I would suggest St. Cloud, the U of M, or anywhere else where students are treated with at least some integrity. Hello. I was one of those people in the Argosy MFT grad program when the school closed. We were all told St. Mary's would teachout our program. This was a lie. It didn't make sense that they couldn't do this, because we shared professors, and our programs were virtually identical. Instead of allowing us to transfer all of our credits, I keep seeing advertisements talking about a "generous offer" to accept only half of our credits, when I was supposed to graduate this summer. Honestly all this school cares about is money, not the welfare of students or potential students that were completely screwed over. If anyone from Argosy reads this, go to NCU instead.Anna Trout

This location St Mary's is located in South minneapolis. it offers great opportunities to further your education and I'm sure many other things. It is in a fantastic location there's plenty of parking and I believe there are falling all covid safety protocols.
