Im a criminal Justice major and i like program except one huge thing it needs more hands traning so you prepared for the job once you graduate and not have move on for four degree and they need to have dorminties to live on i hardly see people on campus it almost empety they have two many campuses they need to have one and the paint falling off the school. The advisors are literally the worst I have seen. They are basically unaware of how to advise, impossible to reach, don't follow through, and give no recommendations on pre requisite classes. Now the health science department is even worse. The instructors pride themselves on a high failure percentage. They deviate from school policy and ALL Bio 210 and 211 professors are arrogant and unwilling to support your child. Stay away from the arrogant professors, AND they don't care about your future.AB Gentry

this technical college is the best technical college in south carolina, there was a problem with the workers at the edgefield campus, they lost my transcripts, and they tried to cancel my advisement appointment so they could meet their boyfriend in the parking lot, the students at the edgefield campus were rude, and trashy, they are not going to stop me from going there, the classes that you have to take are wonderful, the instructional methods are excellentJessica Taylor

I thought USCB was a good school until i lived on campus. The housing staff is racist. They don't follow the rules of the handbook. They give students no privacy. They let your roommates steal without any consequences. One housing staff member i would like to point out is Ms. Whaley who attacks students who live on campus because she think she has power over everyone. Mrs. Burks-hale has made many vulgar comments to my girlfriend because of the color of her skin. For the students that are here today on acceptance day, you still have time to make the right decision. I'm currently a senior at USCB and honestly I would have been lost when I transferred here 2 years ago if it hadn't of been for Katie Deal in financial aid. I had no clue how to take out loans or even figure out if I qualified for anything. Katie pretty much took me under her wing and pointed me in the right direction so I could have the means to make it to graduation. She has always gone above and beyond for me and has spent hours upon hours trying to find the best loan for me. Great local university offering a solid education, but lacking administration. For its size, USC Upstate offers an impressive number of courses, specializing in education and nursing. The vast majority of professors employed at Upstate are talented individuals and gifted teachers, very skilled at imparting knowledge on students. The actual grounds and structures of Upstate are well kept up, and consistently being updated, improved, and added on. As an alumnus, I am thoroughly happy with the education that I received at Upstate. My only complaint about Upstate is the administrative department. Admissions, financial aid, and any other non-education portion of the school seems disconnected and completely unaware. I frequently had to call or stop by to address what seemed to be extremely minor issues, only to spend hours running around to find a fix. My wife applied, never received an acceptance letter, but she later received a confirmation of financial aid. Never assume they've handled an issue that you have any concerns about. USC Upstate is a great school, one that I will continually offer my support for. However, they could definitely improve the admissions department, and all other administrative facets of the school. Stay on top of any issues before they become urgent and you should do just fine here.Jake Hennett

The second semester resulted in a slightly better experience regarding the online education format. We plan to enroll in more in person classes next semester. Several professors last semester did not seem proficient with the virtual/online format or appear to care that students weren't getting the same or comparable education to in person classes. However, the fees each semester are significant and sometimes defy logic. This college is a joke, I hate that I even transferred here. I should of looked at these reviews before I even thought about attending. I'm going to try my best to get out this university. The staff here always gives you the run around, seems very uneducated and not much helpful to make your transfer goes as smooth as possible. Plus if you are a veteran you basically have to do everything yourself, they don't know their job and you have to figure out everything on your own. Something is always missing. They are clueless. I can't tell you how many times I had to take trips up there because my phone calls were never returned and I'm not even a current student yet, or they tell you your good to start school in the upcoming semester then something else pops up you need in order to start. Schools are responsible for providing an education and preparing us for life afterwards. This school fails miserably at both. Graduation rates are horrendous, this is mostly due to the fact that I had classmates with 700 SAT scores and 1.9 GPA's. At first thought, I believed Limestone was the good Samaritan that gave these people a chance at a good education. Much to my dismay, this is not the case. They do not expect these students to graduate, but they fill their classes and get their money before they kick them out the door with nothing but possibly $70,000 in debt (after 2 years) These same students slowed classes down, so in order to cover all the material we had to go to class as part of the highschool attendance policy, then spend another hour covering what the professor was unable to get to during class because of these students. At a huge $35,000/year I could name 20 schools quickly that would give a better education and save you $5-15,000/year minimum. Education aside, athletics are in fantastic standing as most athletes are international players and are quite good. If you have a full scholarship for athletics, I could even suggest working extra hard and making a run to play professional sports. I am a working Registered Nurse with 3 kids. I was offered a free tuition for the RN to BSN online program so that the new program could earn its accreditation. I had been wanting to get my BSN for years but never could afford it. Unfortunately, shortly after I started the program, COVID hit and I was homeschooling 3 kids and working full time. I couldn't continue with the BSN program. I notified the head of the program and was told it was fine. The following year, to my surprise, all of my state tax refunds were taken by Limestone University!!!! When I called to find out about the issue, I was told that they would continue to take my tax refund until $7000 plus was payed back for the "free" program that I signed up for and did not complete due to unforeseen circumstances. No one ever thought that the whole country would be in lockdown because of a pandemic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thank you Limestone University for helping Nurses further their education. Thank you for being understanding of working mothers during a pandemic (note the sarcasm!) This University only cares about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ There is nothing "Christian" about this!!!!!!!Donna Hassen

As a current student of Limestone College, At first with every new school, you are filled with excitement and nervousness. My first semester here transfering from a technical school I was very excited for this new chapter of my life but as time passed I quickly yearned for the end of the semester. 1 – Almost all of the residence halls have serisous design flaws or deterioration. 2 – There is almost nothing to do for non student athletes. 3 – The entire school feels like one giant high school cliche. Especially at the dining hall. 4 – The tutoring situation here is atrocious. The school partners with a third party tutoring service that provides tutors but when upon looking for one, one can never find one for their subject. I want to like this school. But it needs to address a ton of issues before it can shine.zachary butler

CIU is a con. You realize it after a year or two as a student there. CIU is an embarrassment to higher education. The degrees and programs offered provide little to no value in the actual world. You may think you will go into full-time Christian ministry, but most graduates of CIU do not. As a former Student President and graduate of CIU, I am ashamed of Columbia International University and I hope prospective students and their parents think twice before making the decision to go. Fast forward 4 years, you will have collected over 100K in tuition fees, you will have two useless degrees, and those 'degrees' will be from a nonreputable, unheard of university. You won't care about any of this at 17 or 18 years old. You will think student loans are fine and a degree won't affect my life much. It took me almost 15 years to pay off my loans with family help and scholarships. My 2 degrees have not helped me since the day I graduated. I say again, CIU is a con. The institution and faculty know it. It is an illusion – what you think will be, will not be. We had the most AHHHMAZING tour experience guided by the Dean of ICU, Scott R. Adams J.D. himself. I am so impressed with every aspect of this beautiful, immaculate campus. It is such a phenomenal learning environment for the students surrounded with walking trails, lakes, meditation locations, State of the Art Sports Fields, a beautiful Seminary, incredible Business School, IT School, Nursing School, etc.. A Christian College should have the right to stand by it's stated belief system. This is not a public university. The students knew the belief system when they enrolled. Other religions also believe homosexuality is contrary to God's teaching. So, does that mean that a church, synagogs, or any other belief that doesn't mesh with the mainstream media is no longer allowed freedom in this nation? People say they want separation of church and state UNTIL they don't like what a church believes-then they want the government to force a church to change it's beliefs. The science department (bio, biochem, chemistry, physics) is amazing and so helpful in supporting students aiming for any graduate level education. Every professor pushes you to be better while also guiding you to be a better person and student. They are all straight forward and even step by step help you apply and learn about career options. I couldn't have asked for better mentors in that department. And I'm thankful every day that they invested so much in me and helped me get into medical school. The school community in itself is not accommodating. I felt ostracized my first year being out of state and being minority. I almost transferred my freshman year because I was just that miserable living on campus. The community is not diverse by any means and it is 100% a suitcase school, despite what I was told when I visited before applying. I don't necessarily blame the school for the students attitude but I never felt welcomed or at home at Anderson after 4 years. I am also a Christian, and did not agree with many of Anderson's values, although their rules are not difficult to follow, just tedious. Essentially, Anderson Univeristy has a fantastic science department, and I would rate them by themselves 10/10 but the community there I would rate 4/10. If you just want a great science education, they have it, but social life isn't as guaranteed.Meagan Ocampo

If you are in favor of a small Baptist community, then by all means go here. However, if you are anything but that, then expect to be forced to go to Chapel in order to graduate, a zero tolerance for married couples or any couple in that matter, and residence advisors inspecting your room in depth if there is any suspicion that you are doing anything against their small Baptist community policies. Don't expect the best one on one attention because every other class and special needs student gets it with the same professor. Lastly, most of the on campus living have a huge mold problem that affected my friends' health as well as my own, and some campus complexes were infested with roaches. I am currently a student at Anderson University, and overall I have had a great experience. I have made great friends and the academic curriculum is excellent in my major. I will say that the school is not for everyone. It has a very strong christian atmosphere and students are held to certain rules and standards not found at other schools. However, this is part of what I like about Anderson as it helps prepare students for the real life scenarios of being responsible adults. I will tell you this though, every professor puts in 110% into everyone's education, I have never been denied academic help when I needed it. First coming to Benedict College I honestly didn't know what to expect on this journey. I was hesitant, nervous and felt like "this isn't what college's look like on TV." It also didn't help that I started second semester so as I was coming in, people already had their set of friends and I was trying to figure out where I fit in at. I then realized that I couldn't just stay to myself so I got involved with activities on campus such as BC Underground and community life becoming an RHA. As I opened up to my fellow peers, formed lifelong bonds with people, and learned how much love and support I had from my professors, I can say my experience at Benedict has been a good one. I had the worst experience as a parent to a child who use to go there. I was trying to get his transcript so he would be able to attend another college. The young lady at the transcript office was really polite but once I went to the financial aid office it turn to like I was dumb and didn't know the reason why I came there. I mean it don't take a scientist to realize you can't get a transcript if you owe a debt so that's why I was sent there. The guy at the front desk was rude and not professional at all, he said to much that wasn't call for and I really do advise parents to check this college out before letting your child enter there. As an Alumnus of Benedict College I would say Benedict is a dynamic institution and an even better choice! The reality is that its not the perfect school for everyone, but if you're looking to take advantage of a great opportunity and have some defining experiences BC is a great choice! It is not a school you should come to just because mom wants you out of the house. If that's your largest aspiration then you'll FAIL and you wont enjoy the experience very much. I've met some of the most accomplished and talented professors at this institution. Not to mention, the family felt environment nurtures you but prepares you for the world! If your child is admitted voluntarily, you are initially told you can visit, but then told you cannot for the entire time they are there. I was told by 2 people that I would get daily updates on his treatment and progress from the therapist and/or doctor. That was untrue. I was told by a nurse that they never call until they are ready to discharge and they (nurses) can leave a message, but it's up to the doctor and therapist if they want to call you. I was told by at least 2 people that as soon as my son saw the doctor, they would get approval for him to have his school laptop so he can stay up to date on his school work. I was given multiple time lines for how long his stay would be, 2-3 days, 7-10 days, "possibly only 3 days". There is zero consistency on information between departments and when you express your frustration and concern you're told you're being dramatic. Well, maybe I was, but I had just found out that my 14 year old had had suicidal ideation and he was admitted and, at this point, had not recieved any communication from anyone there that I did not initiate for 3 days. I was told all the things Heather, the charge nurse, was telling me, as she was interrupting me continuously, was "in the admission packet". I never received an admission packet. She then told me "yeah, you'll get it when he's discharged with the discharge packet". What good does an admission packet do if you only give it to the child and NOT the parent?!?! I do hope that he gets the help he needs and that we never have to do this again, but if we do, I will definitely find somewhere else besidesThe Carolina Center for Behavioral Health.Jackie Gardella

Amending my review…. After my son was admitted he received amazing results!! We love Dr Feldman!! It is almost impossible to get a call from staff concerning your loved one but as a nurse I do understand they are busy giving care and often don’t have time!! The lady that answers the phone is curt and is NOT going to help you.. she always seems unhappy and unkind but I do think it is just her personality or maybe she has been through something that broke her… she remains consistent with her abrupt and non friendly manner…If you are looking for help The Carolina Center was amazing results with my son… but as in every business there are a few inconveniences … After my child’s psychiatrist recommended in-house treatment for his sever hallucinations, anger, voices in his head, paranoia and insomnia. I sat for 3.5 hours in the receiving area only to be told “this was not the place for my son”… hopeless is the only word I could use to describe the feeling!!! He was raised and taught to be a gentleman…so because he is not suicidal or violent there is no help for his mental anguish!!! He has suffered so much, yet we can’t get help because he is kind!!! As his mother it is completely heartbreaking!!! I’ve been a pediatric nurse 28 years and never had a difficult time getting medical treatment for a sick child… yet my child is so sick and I’m turned away….Eunice Kirksey

I voluntarily committed myself last Wednesday afternoon. I was very very depressed and not able to cope. After assessment I was taken to my Unit (2) and shown my room and settled in. I was scared to death and felt trapped. I asked everyone to let me leave ( panic attack). Noone would let me leave. Lol. I stayed. Best thing that could have happened to me. I quickly bonded with the other patients sharing stories with one another.. group therapy was enjoyable and interactive. SOMEONE PLEASE BUY DANIEL A KEY LIME PIE LOL! The Nurses were great handling meds. The therapists were great. The cafeteria was great accommodating my dietary allergy. The Nurses desk staff were AMAZING. Shout out out to ROSIE, Seth Jessica Mary Krystal and Austin my favorites. Bring warm clothes with no strings. Expect a hard bed and light blanket. I was discharged today.I left feeling so much better with many new coping skills and memories of friends conversations. Highly recommend.Melissa T

I have mixed feelings about this school after attending there for the past year. The building is super nice and modern, and my teachers were all wonderful. Unfortunately, a bunch of the office workers are slack. Honestly, half of them don't do anything. Many of them were unprofessional. I actually went to Care South to the Area Agency on Aging which is on 2nd Street or 2nd Avenue across from the athletic field. I'm a social worker for MSA Hospice in Florence South Carolina and I went there to pick up some information with regards to resources for seniors in the state of South Carolina which is pretty much a thick book and it's free. And I also dropped off an application for caregiver assistance . Great group of people to work with in terms of securing grants from the Alzheimer's Association and the Area Agency on Aging for caregiver support for hospice and home health patients and also a good source for getting grant money to help with things like a ramp for patient's home. She knew her stuff ;o) I'm new to the area and this private university was quite an eye opener. Tuition is over 40k/year. Class size is small 14 to 1 for most classes. My daughter enoyed a volleyball camp at Coker College over the past few days. We liked the campus, it's just blocks from the "downtown" area of Hartsville, so very walkable to coffee shops, restaurants, etc. The staff and school took great care of my daughter and we hope to return for a tour when classes begin again.Karen Mullins

What an amazing campus. First opened as a military college, then became available to civilians, women and fully integrated in 1963. After graduating with my doctorate in Environmental Toxicology in 1996 I have never returned until 2020. Although the city has changed drastically, the campus' beauty and attention to the most current curricula still remains. They have a beautiful new Business School and the campus life can't be beat. Add to it to beauty of the nearby mountains and lakes, 90 mins to Atlanta and overall excellence in education you cannot go wrong.Bill Henriques

FMU is a wonderful college. I went there and my son is a 4.0 there now in his 3rd year. It is an fully integrated school where all races live in harmony in the spirit of higher education. The quality of the programs are second to none. The quality of the Faculty & staff is top shelf. The value of the FMU experience is reasonable and in state tuition is a great value. There are many international students and they all love the beautiful well maintained campus. The President, Fred Carter has built new facilities and the nursing and health programs are getting national recognition. FMU is a Jewel that has something for everybody, but its college and its going to that dedication and hard work. All colleges have a segment who get caught up in their new freedom and the party scene and cannot manage their studies and drop out. In college you get what you earn and nothing more.Jimmy Carter

I am an alumna of FMU and absolutely hated every second of it. I wish I transferred to USC after my first year. Thankfully, I went there after FMU and realized how unfairly *some people* are treated at FMU in comparison to other schools where your presence is valued and appreciated. The Spanish department in particular was a hot mess! *Dr.* Caldwell who was there when I attended and still there, was very disrespectful. The ACCOUNTING office sent an email to do a survey regarding a Perkins Loan. I graduated a long time ago and any loan was long paid in full! Apparently, the email was sent in error to everyone who already paid. In the age of phishing/spoofing, you really need to fact check before you press send.Ami McKinney

This university is situated in Florence SC but looks almost like it's in a forest. It is named after a famous Revolutionary war general Francis Marion aka the Swamp Fox. He helped to defeat the British by using guerilla warfare tactics he learned from the Native American's. On the grounds is a lovely pond which serves as a reminder of what the area looked like in his time. They also have a huge baseball complex with an aptly named team called the Patriots. In the middle of the road stands a fantastic statue of Marion holding a banner with the word Liberty embossed on it. It's worth a look.HereAndThereWith PatAndBob

Toured campus with my daughter. She was accepted to several colleges in SC and of all we looked at, PC stood out the best. She said that she felt really comfortable on campus there. I was really impressed with everything they offer as well as how nice the staff and the students that we met are. They were still in class when we toured and despite that, it was still peaceful. My daughter is very much looking forward to attending PC starting in the fall. Update 5/7/19 My daughter has just completed her first year of college! She loves PC and can't wait for classes to begin in the Fall. I can honestly say the her/our decision on attending PC couldn't have been more spot on. The small college atmosphere has everything you could ask for. The professors really get to know their students and actually are there for them. They aren't just a number on their role without a name or face. I don't have anything negative to say about itTammy

This place is a joke and it Shows! It's a burden on the town. It doesn't recruit locally. It doesn't accept local applications and the little brats that attend this college are racist and/or junkies! Love this campus! Open and beautiful! Security rides around waving and checking in around the whole campus all day. Very safe space to be and have family. We love the soccer games they host, football and soccer practices for PC. It’s amazing.Allaina Johnson

As a parent of a student attending Claflin University I hate the day I ever agreed to her attending this HBCU. For the fees and lies these ppl tell, it is not even in a safe place. Shooting happens around the school more often than I care to mention and the officers handle it in an extremely irresponsible/ UNPROFESSIONAL way by urging caution (notice I say shootings) not canceling classes until further notice. Maybe bc it's a HBCU I'm not sure but I'm certain of this she will not attend anymore after this semester. I would not recommend this University to anyone it stinks and they have a horrible bed bug infestation. Babies please choose a safe University to attend so neither you or your parents have to worry we send you off to get an education not to get shot. In the meantime I pray for everyone's safety at Claflin University.Johnathan Greer

Student move in day was as organized as could be. The students had to go through rapid COVID testing prior to moving in on campus. Once cleared the process began. Parking was a little challenging. But it was as good as it could be. We needed handicap parking and security was able to assist is with that and it made things more manageable for us.Christine Middleton

Claflin… I remember it as if it was just yesterday when I matriculated from the University. College days swiftly pass! Great school but unfortunately the city is not the most College integrated. You will definitely get out of it what you put in both educationally and socially. It can definitely be a great stepping stone to a brighter future.Robert Bryant

I worked at Winthrop from 2015 to 2018 as an Adjunct Professor of Music. My colleagues were amazing people and I loved working with them. The students were dedicated for the most part. If any weren't, it was typically because of something difficult going on in their life. If there were anything to complain about, it would be the age of the music conservatory. They try their best to maintain it, but it's just old. Fortunately, there are already plans in place to build a new one.David Batchelor

Campus is beautiful from the outside but the insides need extreme TLC. My freshman year dorm had mold in it, but now my new room is very clean. I recommend moisturizer bags for the rooms and if you are looking for a party school please do not come because we do not have that. Professors and staff are very good at their jobs and I’ve only experienced maybe two that I didn’t like.Madison B

I can't speak to the Education one could get here, but the campus is absolutely beautiful. Attended the Crown of the Carolinas Gymnastics Meet in the West Center and had some time to walk around and it was wonderful. The weight room, which was in the same building was very impressive. Starbucks on campus is a nice plus as well.Ashley Martin

Parents Perspective… Personal Attention through the admissions process. Merit award matching or above other offers as compared to 7 other schools around the country. For our student, it was the right choice based upon Gardner Webb's "style" of education, mission statement, which is lived out, and high quality education focused on high academic success. The school has made certain through its programs and interactions with the new students that the transition process is smooth and genuine in building relationships between the school itself, the faculty, and the other students. Our student is required to serve & attend events for 40 hours, each semester, within their field of study out in the community, in addition to all their course work. Granted our students field of study is to work directly with the public, thus it is extremely beneficial. However, it often requires over an hour drive or more to a larger city to accomplish these requirements. Thus an added cost and you need a car or to make friends with others attending who have a car. Yes, the school is relatively small in a very small town. The school works very hard at providing fun activities for the students on campus on a very regular basis. For our family, sending your first child to school over a thousand miles from home is much easier if your student learns they indeed have made the right choice in schools. Gardner Webb has more than met our expectations and our students which has brought about much happiness for us all. They are exactly what they represent and if your personal mission is not a good match with the schools, it is probably not the place for you. If however, you check out the website and are intrigued, then you visit and it feels like a good fit – especially in its education offering and mission, Gardner Webb should be seriously considered, even though you might be compromising on your desire for a "big school in the city." Our student has found giving up the big city component was not a big compromise compared to how happy they are with everything else at Gardner Webb.D B

Excellent school with a quality education!! Gardner-Webb offers an ever-growing, wide selection of academic programs. And between the Tucker Student Center & being centrally located between Gaffney, SC & Shelby, NC, students have everything they could ever need within a 10 minute drive. As for Homecoming 2022, my family had wonderful time attending the Alumni Tailgate, seeing the Homecoming Parade, & even going to the football game (which we won!)!!!Tristan Divine
