20 Best Physician Assistant Programs In Orlando, FL (2022 Updated)

This is a "Christian university," which is why I choose to come here and I was the class chaplain for the ultrasound program. AHU (formerly ADU) is far from mercy or grace. I made 2 C's and have been completely dismissed from the program forever (one new and experimental course not required for ultrasound-pediatrics)… 3 years and $30k debt later with 1 required class left, I cannot graduate. I went to the admissions director explaining the circumstances. Basically, I was told their decision stands. Something is very wrong about this situation. My family and 3 children are worst off from AHU. I had to deal with major health issues (and marital) that are now reasonably stable and have been completely withdrawn from the program with one required class remaining to be registered as a sonographer. We may seek legal action against them. I'm a disabled veteran that developed a rare condition and was finally properly diagnosed while attending the program. It was a nightmare trying to go to medical appointments, etc. They treat young and old alike, like children. The program looks for reasons to drop your grade… An example would be the routine checks to look at your home and class notes, books, etc If you don't meet their standard, they take away from your professional integrity grade. The people leading the program are careless/ruthless. The year before last we went through a hurricane with property damage. While all schools were out, mine was in session leaving no time to prepare my home and family… Same thing following the hurricane… we were back in classes being quizzed/tested while public schools had no schooling in session. I was told life happens and in healthcare you must be able to keep up… No excuses… No empathy… I explained there was no power or fuel in my area for over a week, needing to clean up, property damage… Still didn't care. Realistically, someone in my situation could have called out of work opposed to running off on the family having little food, fuel and a damaged home/property to run off school. Sadly, one student who performed well on all their quizzes and tests even came to class to take a quiz with a concussion… No joke! They didn't do well, but it was better than having their grade significantly reduced or receiving an F all together… The negative experiences are endless. Do yourself a favor, if you are determined to enter the ultrasound field, this is not a school to attend. Consider Valencia, Keiser, SantaFe. There was over a 50% fail/drop rate for the class of 2017 (I'm writing this in 2019… would have graduated with the class of 2019) and I'm talking about nearly straight-A students that were hand selected for a program with this high fail rate, which is a testament for this program. We are not dealing with students that don't know how to study or manage themselves. When the program was going through re-certification, we were told what we could and couldn't say… They expressed a concern of the courses having way too much content. Often you'll sit through three hours of lectures and then for the same class have another two to three hours of material to go through in online lectures… I don't know how they got away with only making many of the courses three credit hours. My curriculum changed several times spending money and taking class that were not required because the program kept changing; AHU does not refund unnecessary classes they tell you to take and then drops them as requirements. They do not respect you or your responsibilities as a student or as parent and will not look out for you. I've been to some of the best colleges in Florida: Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Stetson and Asbury Seminary. I've also attended Daytona State college and by far AdventHealth University is the worst experience I've ever had… specifically their ultrasound program. Keep in mind I'm a middle aged adult with a bachelor's of science and a masters with 4 classes remaining to complete my second masters degree. Avoid this schoolJan Vandermark

I was lucky enough to attend both AHU In Florida and Denver. the staffing Florida seem to actually care and go above and beyond for the students who put the work in. they were very well equipped with drop-in tutoring, helpful library, and flexible teacher hours. Denver was not like this. when I left ahu they did not have a nursing teacher in place;instead had the principal overextend herself to not only teach but continue her job as principal with help of a old nursing friend (with no teaching experience whatsoever). they did not have a library or any official tutoring hours except for a student-run tutoring session held over Skype. also keep in mind that you will be barely any financial assistance considering that the Denver campus is barely set up as a Colorado college therefore is not accepting Colorado Pell Grant or any other Colorado grants or financial assistance. I was paying almost 7000 a trimester, 5000 out of pocket with FASFA help. then there was the religious stigmas and relationships within the school. the only way I can describe the situation was.. think of mean girls. the religious, varsity, I'm-better-then-you white women. that is the people running this campus. all women are over 50 years old, religious, gossiping, and judgmental. if you are not exactly what they want you to be, you will experience discrimination, bullying, and gossip. I never felt comfortable there talking to any of them about any situations I was having in my life because of the energy The faculty gave off. so if you are a uptight, well off, Christian who can devote the next four years to learning everything from the book because there are no teachers to help you; then this is the school for you, otherwise there is many other schools that are better prepared to help you become a real world nurse.Sierra Freemyer

I am a current student at Adventist University and I do not regret my decision. I have finished my first year of college and can tell you that the professors care about the students and are always available to speak with you with open arms. The staff is friendly and helpful and make it their duty to help you as best as they can. The campus is clean and great and not to mention how it is right next to the Florida Hospital which gives students chances to get that hands on experience. It is great knowing you are surrounded by people who have a similar passion for helping people and an interest in health science professions.sAga99

PBA is a hidden gem in Orlando. The people and professors are probably the best part of the experience. To be blunt, the quality of the professors surprised me. Its a small school so I did not expect much, but the professors are some of the most Brilliant Minds I've ever encountered. On top of knowledge, they also have kind and genuine hearts that care about YOU and your understanding of the material. PBAU is known for being a Christian School and I absolutely love how they involve God and Jesus in our work but they do not shove it down our throats. It's a nice balance for those who range from not being a believer to those who are sold on Jesus. This program makes you grow in ways you never expected. They invest in working on who you are as a person, which in turn will help you become a better counselor. I strongly believe those who do their own internal work and become aware their triggers and biases, will be the most productive counselors out there. The classes invite you to dwell in your own stuff while providing support and understanding. Most programs in Florida do not require you to go to therapy as a part of their program, PBA is not one of those schools. They believed self care is important and in our work, our mentality is a priority. I speak nothing but praise for my experience at PBA and would highly recommend it. And if all of that doesnt convince you, I also found my future hubby in the program. Which has been the best gift of all 😜 haha but really they are definitely worthy of considering. 👍Tiffany Card

The experiences I have had at Palm Beach Atlantic University have been like no other in my life. From the amazing staff, Professors, and students, this time in graduate school has been nothing but positive. The faculty, staff, and students create a loving, caring environment where growth is fostered throughout the entire time in the program(s). The faculty stretch the students to grow personally, professionally, and spiritually while assisting them become the professionals God intended them to be. The staff ensures that questions and concerns are answered in an expedient manner and offer support and words of encouragement during your journey. Great program, the Nursing school comprises the 3rd, 4th and 6th floors with the main reception desk on the 3rd floor. They have a kicking simulation lab on the 6th floor and a study lounge on the 3rd floor. I don’t live close to the Family Medical Clinic but Dr. Mitul Shah sees my mom there & has taken great care of her, so I scheduled my yearly physical exam with him. I don’t like those exams, but the dread was unnecessary. The front desk staff & nurses were professional & friendly. I was called back at my appointment time (maybe a few minutes earlier since I arrived early which was really nice). I had to change into & out of a gown for the exam – I think the nurse could read my mind because each time, she gave me the perfect amount of time for changing & the next phase of the exam proceeded without delay. Dr. Shah is knowledgeable, intuitive, has a great “bedside manner”, makes me feel listened to, & takes time to answer all of my questions without making me feel like I’m bothering him or keeping him from the next appointment. It says a lot about the leadership & staff at this office that they can provide that kind of customer service while staying on schedule with appointments. Have been a patient here for over a year and until recently have had no issues. I have been attempting to get a hold of somebody at this office for 3 weeks. Calling the main number you wait for at least 30-40 minutes before the lines just hangs up on you. I need to get clinical information from my doctor for a prior authorization and have sent emails directly to him. I spoke with someone finally on Friday after a 40 minute wait and after I explained my situation they just said nothing in n response for 10 minutes like they set the phone on the counter and then sent me to a random voicemail. Not only me but also multiple members from my pharmacy have tried to reach somebody at this office. Somebody needs to get this place under control. I will not be returning to this office after I get this information to get my migraine medicine.Brandon Sullivan

Family Medical Center is definitely the place you want to be for any of your health care. The staff and doctor's are caring and really show their expertise while providing you with the best medical care possible. Dr. Delgado is an exceptional and exemplary physician. He's been and has provided me with the best medical for over 20 years. Now that I'm move away, I'm trying to see if anyone else will be able to live up to the standard of care he has provided me all these years. Some other doctor has some huge shoes to fill. This school is a joke. I took a day off to go for orientation on their nursing program. I went ready and left copies of my transcriptions, diplomas, social security and all they needed to evaluate how many credits from my previous education they could use in order to complete a BS in nursing. When Mrs Alomar interviewed me she made me feel like I was in the right place and that they will keep in contact to let me know what was next. A week after orientation I drove back to take the language tests. I scored pretty good in both and then I was told that I was still required to take english and Spanish before starting the program even when I have already approved over 16 credits in these subjects. The days passed and nobody called me, so I called them and Mr de Jesus who was the first person I had contact with, did not know what to tell me. It seemed like my case was in the air. Nobody was assigned to it and they kept lying to me. Somedays the person responsible of my case “was not there”, other days she “was in a meeting”, other days they just wouldn’t even call me back. After 3 weeks of not hearing from them I called and press the option of Dean and administration. My call finally went through and because I was politely upset they transferred me to the chief of the Nursing Program. That has been the only helpful person I talked since starting the process. She apologized, promised me she was going to find out about my case and even gave me her personal phone number. After that call Mrs Alomar called me once and left me a voicemail after which I called her right back and left her a voicemail since at the time she called me I was at work. I didn’t hear from her for another week before I decided to give her a call. When she answered I told her who I was she acted like she didn’t know who I was. She didn’t know about my case and had to put me on hold to find out that the chief of nursing had already evaluate my transcriptions and told me which classes I was going to have validated. After that I asked her how many of the basic subjects they were going to validate, well, she didn’t know. At the end she told me I was going to still do over 2 years with them in order to complete their “accelerated “ program. What the heck??? They are very disorganized and after I went through I wouldn’t put my money there.Sophy Colon

But our experienced was bad my step daughter quit because the craziness they had starting for a "Nursing Director"Ojeda I think that person did not know how to work with people, my step daughter received a letter for a students meting it was to let all the students know the university lost their accreditation true FNB Florida Nursing Board. Because their nurses wasn't passing the NCLEX. Well they redecorate all the information very disappointed and it was at point very disrespectful for the students. They need to went to take a HESI test thats to "proves students are ready for NCLEX?" Ridiculous also more cash for university. Then a bunch of Nursing students went to PR University of PONCE to take the test there because its really hard here true SUAGM, incredible I think what is all this about? My step daughter end up paying 5,390 dollars just to finishes there and now she need to wait in PR almost 2 years in order to come back and transferred her NCLEX licence. STUDENTS DON"T GO TO PR TO PASS YOUR NCLEX IS TRIPLE EXPENSIVE! JUST TO NOT TAKE THE HESSI. Its very expensived! I really think DR. I love this school. I was taking my CNA test here and i asked what other programs they had and now i'm almost done with my PCT! The staff is amazing, the instructors are great. The phlebotomy teacher is an RN, the others are doctors. They really know what they're doing and it's really great! The best part about it are the payment plans, they really try to accomodate to your needs, one week i couldn't make a payment and they helped me out and arranged a whole new payment plan. That was super nice. Also, they don't waste your time, i did phlebotomy in 6 weeks when in other schools you don't get to do lab work and it's twice as much time. It's fast paced and it works. I would definitely recommend FHCA to anyone who wants to be a healthcare professional.Elizabeth Burnt

This school is excellent. The teachers will help you on questions you have to get you ready for the state test. I took CNA and Phlebotomy at this school and I learn so much. The teachers will also explain it in Spanish for those that don't know English. Also the ones that don't know Spanish will even learn the language. They will have practice tests for you to practice the questions for the exam. The practice test is highly recommended because it help me pass the written part for the CNA. You will have hands on practice for the clinical skills. For the phlebotomy test you have so much practice questions to do, so that you can be prepare. I took phlebotomy 5 years ago in a different school and taking the phlebotomy course for refreshers. I started the Phlebotomy course three weeks ago and I must say, this school is prestigious and well organized. They provide both English and Spanish, which is great because I need to refresh on medical terminology in Spanish. The phlebotomy teacher is amazing and constantly reminds us of the ultimate important aspects clinical care for patients and our exams. Our teacher is an RN and always teaches real-life situations in the class. We have two portions for the class lecture and labs. After an initial emergency surgery and somewhere around 4 clean out sugerys 2 reconstruction surgeries one of which was 9 hours and one other we were instucted to come in for a check up in two weeks after a 3 week hospital stay for one surgeon and three weeks for the other. We got an appt. for 2 weeks for the one we needed at three weeks and intially could not get an appt. for the two weeks for 8 weeks. Sorry if that was confusing. We got in 6 weeks after hospital discharge being told we had to wait to see that specific surgeon. After waiting an jour after appointment time we only got to see his pa. Ive had to call twice to get refils both times I was on hold for at least 30 mins. It took me 4 days to get the script which I had to drive back to the office just to pick it up. I do not feel like any of the receptionist are competent and it has been a complete nightmare gor the past month. I literally had two appointments 2 days in a row which is a 45 min. Drive from where we are because there is a complete lack of communication. In oir circumstance we had no choice but to go to ormc and to this orthopedic institute. If you can be seen elsewhere I suggest you do that. I will say when you actually get to see a surgeon they are helpful and seemed to do every thing they could at the time of the surgeries but the p.a. is always with is much longer and much more thorough. Took my mother to her post op appointment a few weeks ago, first off they over book EXCESSIVELY! She had a 8:15 appointment wasn’t seen until almost 10am. The only good part of this appointment was the nurse that took us back. She was very nice. Believe her name was Samantha. The doctor came in for like two seconds, didn’t really answer questions. Just kept repeating she knows what to do. We finally make it through the appointment and go to check out as I am making the next appointment with the check out girl. Another employee comes in and starts yelling at her that she will slap her. The check out girl apologized and tried to get us going and this employee continued to threaten her. It got to the point I told her don’t worry about it I will just make it through our patient portal. This place really needs to evaluate who they hire and put their patients and employee safety higher on the board. Absolutely uncalled for! I would not recommend this location. We go to the winter park location which is lovely.N Agee

Just spoke to the rudest and worst receptionist called Noelis. I needed an appointment for my son and for every question she asked when I answered she made rude remarks. I asked to have someone else help me and she said bad luck because she was the only one there. I told her she should treat customers/patients better, we bring in the money for her salary. She screamed at me and said we don't give her s%@t, I asked for a supervisor and SHE HUNG UP THE CALL. I had already given her all our information, just hope nothing goes wrong or consequences according to law will take place. This review is from the entire surgery department at Orlando Hand Surgery Associates for Kimberly (referral coordinator) & phone operators Jasmine & Brandy (hope we spelled that correctly). We have had to change the provider on the referral about 2-3 times and it was done almost immediately. We are aware that as a PCP's office you guys are super busy, especially during the holidays. We really appreciate the time and dedication. You guys are definitely an asset to the company. The patient and the physicians here at our office were very pleased. I missed a physical appointment because both of my daughter's were sick with the flu and she charged me $75. I have never missed an appointment. I have been going thru a lot with this pregnancy. I'm older than the normal range, have some things that make me high risk in addition to the age. Needless to say, I'm pretty scared. I have been seeking answers to certain questions as well as advice. I was transferred to this location and had my first appt yesterday. I left there feeling so happy, satisfied and taken care of. I would give this school 0 starts if possible. The absolute WORST experience EVER. When people told me to stay clear of this school I didn’t. They don’t are about their students at all, just the money. I might have lost some money but thank God I was smart enough to leave before they stole everything I had to my name. I WILL be filing a complaint with the board. PLEASE DO NOT waste your time with this school. The teachers are great but the people who run it ARE THIEVES, LIARS, and SCAMMERS who make up rules as they go that will benefit them financially. I know now 1000% why students from 2012-2015 who graduated and fulfilled all requirements haven’t been able to take their NCLEX yet. Lying to the board about students not being finished so they can charge them thousands to say they are. Go to Valencia or any other school. The waiting list might not appeal to you but at least they are honest and won’t wait until the last minute to take all your hard work and money and flush it down the toilet.Marie D

i register to this school and pay $150 $100 for registration and $50 for the entrance test. i called and went several times to find out when i can take the test and start school. after several attempt which i have to take of work i find out that they don't have enough student and don't even know when class will start. the day i was finally schedule to take the entrance test the director give me some stupid excuse that the system was down. i waited for someone to call me and rescheduled and never heard from them.
