Nestled just northeast of downtown Winston-Salem, best campus has tons of greenery, open fields and green space to lounge or play sports, has a nature trail with access to Reynolda Village with shops and eateries, and a supreme education as well. If you get the chance to go make sure to visit the National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, it's a very beautiful place. If you are looking for a university that constantly drops classes without notifying you and consistently mess up your financial aid and student loans, then this is the university for you. I have never dealt with such an unorganized and incompetent higher education facility. If I were not so close to reaching my end goal with my education I would transfer. If you are planning on taking courses at the HEAT Center in Aberdeen through Notre Dame, such as myself, don't bother because courses are rarely offered there and I have had 3 courses in the past 2 semesters that were to be held at the HEAT Center that have been cancelled and I was never notified by Notre Dame. Now they have notified Fed Loans that I graduated in August when I have not completed all my coursework. Talk about unorganized. I don't think I have encountered one person on the administrative staff that seems like they know what they are doing. I can say my professors have been good; however all of the negative encounters I have had with administration has overshadowed those positives.Kelly Borowiak

This review is of the Entry level BSN nursing program. To be fair, this institution actually has a very good nursing program. The culture of the environment however needs plenty of improvements. This nursing program lacks cultural diversity and sensitivity. The nursing program and it’s educators still caters to the program’s largely Caucasian student population. All of the full time professors that lecture are white with the exception of one Indo-Caribbean professor. This has created an environment of both intentional and unintentional biases, which has also created an open tolerance for racial and ethnic prejudices that should never be acceptable or tolerated in an educational environment. The nursing program would greatly benefit from including an office of Cultural diversity and inclusion to better accommodate and nurture its students from different racial and ethnic backgrounds.Beautiful Life of B

Notre Dame of Maryland was the last college I visited, but the first one that felt like home. I'm only a sophomore, but I know that I made the best decision because the faculty, staff, and student body make this place so great. My professors are always available and helpful, which is great in a pinch, and living on campus with my friends is the best thing I could have asked for. The programs create something for everyone (as seen in my own dorm!) with one roommate as Pre-Pharm in the 3/4 year program, the other currently applying for the Nursing Program, and I'm applying for the 5 year MAT program for education. Writing a review for UNMC is an emotional task for me because they have been there for my mom and family through life, sickness, recovery, health, and even death. In all they've been there for they did right, without judgement or bias, and with care, hope, and support. I live in Kansas, but I know this hospital and all the towers better than some streets near my home. I've interacted with many specialty doctors, nurses, techs, housekeeping staff, ER, security team members, and so many others. We've experienced teams in Kidney Transplant, Wound Care, Cardiovascular, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Derm, Cancer Center, and the Comfort Care Team. I can tell you that these teams are here because they love what they do. If you're considering UNMC as a new place to care for your needs I would do so without hesitation. When my mom moved they were so helpful in her transition to Kansas. Without them we'd be lost. We will miss each of her teams, their knowledge, and their care. It was so hard to leave.Tam E

Very disappointed in care provided. Nursing seems sorely under staffed. Although they frequently have cell phone in hand. Communication between staff (doctors and nursing staff)is lacking. Communication of providers and patients is insufficient. Facility is dirty dusty and run down. And should we talk about HIPPA….nothing to talk about….it doesn't exist there. Hep locks do not get flushed even after several days….negligent much? Showers/bed baths not offered to patient even after 3 days in-house. Are they trying for some nosocomial infections?S B

Today I went to Nebraska medical center and the eye clinic. The people that are very friendly and nice it's clean has three levels. The doctor I seen seem very knowledgeable and was very concerned with my eye condition it was funny when we first pulled up and parked in the first row there was a broom next to the handicap sign made me laugh remind me of handicap which parking. Someone probably had clean snow off their car with the broom and left it there.Karen Beautiful

Baylor is an amazing school. For a few reviews before me we are not all "rich kids wanting to blow daddy's money" or "rude". I personally have a bad background that would not match the first statement. I am not rich. I am blessed to be in this university thanks to scholarships and my hard working mother. Baylor itself is a blessing. Its a rigorous school BUT very well worth it. I love being part of the Baylor community. Its a beautiful campus filled with loving people. Its not "perfect" because nothing is. There will be a few issues like yes there are some kids who don't care and my be rude or blow things off but really if you are a part of it you will see the majority of the campus and the people here are more than amazing and loving. This is a fantastic university for the liberal arts. I have talked to people from other universities and to those that have come to visit me at college, and all of them see a difference in the student body. There is just a different atmosphere. All the people are kind and welcoming and always willing to help in times of need. The professors are nationally ranked and are not only outstanding in their fields of study, but wonderful people as well. Even if you're not looking to go to college, its a beautiful campus to just walk around in. It's almost like a park in some ways. Just give it a visit and I promise you'll be hooked! I loved my time as I attended Baylor for undergrad, and grad school (2008-2015). The campus has changed so much since i first step foot in 2008 (all for the better). Baylor (and Waco) is in a resurgence/growth period. Its an awesome time for Baylor and Waco. I loved my time there even though I'm not religious (agnostic/theist). Great people (students and especially faculty), and community. There was a reason why I came back to get my masters at Baylor. They helped me get through some rough times, and i am better for it now. In regards to the this not being the place for anyone of color or even from another country! That is Completely an untrue statement! All though I am so sorry if that person was treated so badly that why wasn't a report made on racial harassment? There are many on campus police and regular street police .plus security cameras are all over! Ihave found it,to be a lovely accepting place to live for a year. The community makes income from students so why would they antagonize them?all though beware of the rental dumps!(at top dollar price's! And anyone can be.made a house sharer,😳so n careful . I suggest the bobcat apts buildings by the park and pool. The student housing dorms on bobcat ct are diverse with a central building being a family long-term resident unit also diversified During the CV when buses where shut down and snowplows we're nowhere ! All came out to help each other. Elderly were helped with rides by the students.(ty sir for that btw) in the evenings kids played out front and students played with them gently throwing balls back. And all kept it cleanand respectfull the area and words. Of course Friday night until Sunday afternoon there were parties in the Street,at the huge park with a stream ,covered eating places with fireplaces inside and pits outside also,ballpark, soccer field basketball courts and Olympic so it seemed size pool with even kids playground area and even they were respectful so, as for not to be a place for black skinned people untrue! Completely untrue as the dorms were almost all African Americans,some Caucasian ericans and Native ericans ,Indonesian,Kenyans Nigerians and from my point ya can't get.more.diverse than that! And the school has the biggest sport facilities up-to-date you can want. And as for teachers be determined to get what you want ,not what they want for you. I attended this University and it's going down hill. Tenured teachers are pretentious and not adapting with more modern methods of teaching. I've spoken to a couple teachers and they are firing about 8 new hires. Overall it's a mess, I believe that this school may have once been great but those days are long gone. Some of the buildings on campus have mold and many of the buildings are 50+ years old and in bad shape. But our football field, high quality. The stuff the sports kids use are typically kept in better conditions. It really goes to show what the school cares about.Richard Inman

My brother is going to FSU in the fall and I've been to two of their open houses and the two day freshman orientation. It is a very nice school, and the staff really want to help and be there for the kids. It is a beautiful campus as well. The staff are nice and welcoming and helpful. They really do love the kids. My daughter goes to McDaniel. She started her freshman year last fall in the middle of the pandemic and the school has been fabulous about ensuring student safety. They have frequent spot-checking with random COVID testing and have great systems in place for isolation and quarantine. Most of the classes are hybrid or totally online. This works out well because students are able to be on campus but take their classes online from their dorms. It's a good system because it keeps large gatherings to a minimum, but the students have ready in-person access to faculty as well – something crucial to success for first-year students transitioning to college life. Administration is communicative with parents. Most of the on-campus population is first-year students, with the more experienced students able to stay off campus and use distance learning. I think that a lot of what they are doing is easier for McDaniel because it is such a small school and might not be feasible in larger schools. Westminster is a fabulous, quaint little town with plenty of the usual college hangouts like cafes. The school is situated in a great area full of restaurants, shopping centers, etc. All in all, we are pleased with everything.K P

Left after two semesters and a winter class. The school prides itself on being big on ASL culture and classes which is the main reason I went. They had to cancel the ASL3 class because not enough people signed up since you only need two foreign language classes to graduate. The food from the dining hall is bad. It's not that good, gets repetitive and I've gotten food that was still frozen. I would usually get food from the Pub area upstairs from the dining hall. I didn't even know where I was going to be living until two weeks before classes started. They put me in a room that had a heater behind one of the walls so it was always hot in the room. In order to access the laundry room you had to exit the building and go around to another one of the doors. They also accused me of vandalizing one of the vending machines in the laundry room which I never did and never used the vending machines there (only had to pay $5 so whatever). The immediate town area was a little sketchy and at times felt uncomfortable walking in the area to go to the library.Purple Red

Went there for my freshman year of college, then transferred to Salisbury for financial reasons, unfortunately. If you can afford it, go. Even if you can’t, consider it. Beautiful campus, fun night and weekend life, great geographical location, professors that care wholeheartedly about you and your experience (invite you to their homes, personalize instruction, get to know you as a person, etc.), authentic Greek life opportunities and a real close-knit, community feel of the campus yet big enough to see different faces every day. Beautiful campus off a not-so scenic main thoroughfare (Baltimore Avenue). I attended for one short semester and it was nice to return and see all the progress and development that has occurred over the years. Numerous new buildings including campus dining and resident halls. The campus tour we attended for my child was long, and they still have covid protocols required for visitors, which is a bit bizarre, but not entirely surprising, since the State of Maryland always thinks it's on the cutting edge of progress. Also surprised how dead it was on homecoming weekend, and the students we did see wandering on campus do not wear their Maryland colors. A bit disappointing.Avalus

From my experience till now UMD is an amazing college with an even amazing staff and infrastructure. Orientation for students are very important and UMD makes sure they have proper ones. The college is really big and is like another city in itself with everything possible available. It will take time for you to know your way around. Classes are equipped with the latest tech. Lecturers know their subject and are very approachable. These few words wouldn't justify everything about the college. Make sure you do your own research. Would 10/10 recommend selecting UMD for any type of degree!!nikhil pullela

Really nice room. All the lights had mood settings and automation. The scenery was very modern and clean. The bathroom was nice and it had some amazing views very comfortable hotel would definitely visit again. My only recommendation would be maybe having some kind of microwave or something available in the room. However I might end up upgrading to an executive suite next time just to have a dedicated kitchen.Jovon Leblanc

I realize that my opinion can't stand for the whole school (chemical engineering​ 2017), but having held a student job that allowed me to see a lot of the behind the scenes stuff and was part of a department that was in the midst of a lot of changes, I do think I can offer some insight. First, unless you're a proactive genius who wants to do research their entire life, don't bother coming here. This school doesn't care about industry or the jobs it offers. This school talks a lot, but doesn't follow through very well. For instance, the higher ups tend to be good, but the people below them are horrible. The career center is a joke, the admin people are flakes who pretend to know what they're doing, and the professors are very hit or miss. How this school got "best undergrad teaching" is a mystery to me. The only good majors are comp sci and bio. The rest of the departments, especially mine, are either full of hot air, stupid in their decision making, or just plain lost. This university attracts a lot of insanely bright students to their undergraduate program and the stem majors would suck without them. God knows the STEM majors don't get genuine help from their professors. I had to go an extra year because of the negligence of my department and two of the many professors that left during my time were upset and thought I should have graduated a year earlier. I almost transferred twice. My department, similar to many others, don't have any connections to companies in industry. This school also hates transfer students despite having a lot of them. Don't expect to finish any degree in 4 years if you're transferring in. There's no social life here because the school is filled with pasty nerds. It's also surrounded by everything, but close to nothing. You have to drive to get anywhere notable off campus.Scott Joachim (SnoBoy9000)

This is the worst school in the state of Maryland (and possibly in the US). Several buildings on campus are run down (the Sondheim building has even had asbestos in it). The quality of the food is poor and it's overpriced. The social life sucks. It's not a well-known school outside of Maryland. And most importantly, classes are insanely difficult (especially for STEM majors). The classes aren't designed to weed out the slackers. They're designed to weed out the people who try their absolute hardest (and sacrifice things such as sleep and a decent social life) but can't keep up with the immense workload thrown at the students and/or approach assignments with the same exact mindset as the professors. Exams are geared less toward understanding important subject material and more toward deciphering what the professors are actually asking. This school is nothing but a weed out school. I know students who are very intellectually gifted yet still struggle with courses only because of the professors. Almost every professor, by the way, couldn't care less about students and (one would think) they take pride in handing out bad grades – maybe because it inflates their ego of "how brilliant they are compared to others". One more note on the courses – for many courses there is one week between the final exam and the last normal exam of the semester. The biggest mistake I've ever made was attending this "school". I can honestly say that attending UMBC feels like a form of imprisonment. I can't overstate how much I truly despise this school. Please don't make the same mistake I did – go to UMD, Towson, or really anywhere but UMBC.Bucky C

There are a lot of great things about UMBC, the career center is great and there are some top-notch professors. There are some problems though. One annoying thing is they nickel and dime you for everything. Parts of the campus are run down looking and they wont go there during the tour. Most of my professors have been good but my girlfriend who is an art major has had more than one professor that just had students watch online videos instead of teaching them animation topics. -Library carpet is worn out -Chairs in library are so gross your arms stick to them -ITE building has chairs with foam falling out -You must pay to play ping pong or any game in the "game room" -The billing dept gives you very little time to pay the bill and is quick to issue an expensive late fee -Social life isn't great on campus Another thing worth noting that has unfortunately been getting worse is UMBC's leadership imposing their political motives on students through 'updates' on current events. Updates are fine but the vocabulary used in some of the 'updates' is disrespectful to some students who don't agree with the same viewpoints as 'UMBC leadership'. Let's stay professional UMBC cut out the political BS or we will end up like Berkeley…John Park

Education major. I enjoyed my classes and the instructors. I overpaid for what is really a worthless degree because school districts do not want experienced teachers. The issue is experienced teachers have higher salaries compared to new teachers. So while the university can claim a certain job placement rate, the situation changes after a few years on the job. Considering all the money education students have paid Loyola University Maryland, I have never heard about Loyola lobbying for better working conditions for teachers. That's crummy. Every entity wants to take, take, take from education majors but never give back to help our community. I had to pay for my own teaching internship. I thought that was normal at the time, but it's not. Other majors get paid to intern. Do not waste your money on an education degree. Enter teaching via Teach for America or Urban Educators instead. Or better yet, avoid the profession. Please check into the turnover rate.Share D

From the perspective of an African American student, I want to warn potential minorities. I did not experience a really good first year at this school. The professors are not as great as they have told you. At least for the freshman year. A couple of the professors I had, never returned papers and won't send emails. Many times they would change the syllabus and give you last minute assignments. I struggled a lot even with all the extra time I spent on all the classes and getting tutored. This disappointment I encountered has occurred to other freshman students as well. Don't be fooled by the lovely campus now. That's what drew me at first. Not only am I transferring, but soooo many others are also. Be far warned and save some money also. Side note, many Class of 2020 freshman have experienced some unpleasant people. My son is graduating this May and we were extremely pleased with the college. The campus is like a park! My son put a great deal into the College and got back what he put in, a great education, great experiences, a great professional network and great friends. The private school setting adds the lifetime camaraderie. It's small enough that you can actually get to know your professors, yet big enough for professional opportunities. Being in Baltimore and so close to DC, you cannot lose for internships and jobs. Good luck to all! Please read regarding the 46th ranked PCOM PA program! After attending PCOM PA program, I made it out by the skin of my teeth, literally!! I spoke with numerous PA colleagues from other programs and my experience was horrible compared to theirs. I applied to PCOM because I knew of the name PCOM hold but that really only applies to the DO program, the PA program is explained below. The PA program is run by people who could careless about you as a student. I say this factually because I have heard them talking about how they only care about their PANCE 1st time pass rate. What this means is they wouldn’t care if they lost over 75% of the class as long as those that finished passed the PANCE 1st time. Professor say differently but they don’t mean it in their actions. The averages on tests are low 80's, they provide NO CURVE or grade BOOSTERS and you need to keep a 3.0 to progress through program! Even the employees in the learning center, who offer tutoring and study techniques say that the PA program is not well managed is over kill and loses many students. For example in 1 term we have a 10 credit class but sit in class for 16-18 hrs a week for it. Then we have a 10% exam that covers 16 different ppt that are minimum of 60 slides each all taught and tested on under 14 days. Finals were comprehensive – 100Q test that covered 90 ppt all about 60 slides each. That is 5,400 slides of information! Again that is just one class and all the 2 credit classes are very similar. They have a Pathology class for the PA students but its not directed to PA, its the EXACT same lectures and tests the DO students get but PA students get 1/3 the time to learn and digest info. Each of those PPT range from 100-150 slides each. The best class though in the program is the Pharmacology. That professor actually seems like she cares about you as a student and writes straight forward Qs to test your knowledge. I get that PA school or any Masters program is challenging and should require a little more thinking and work. But at PCOM they teach you the same curriculum that the DO program gets but you have to do it in 1/3rd the time. They never test you on Keyword or Hallmark information that the PANCE tests you on. PCOM tests you on the pointless information that they find within the required reading of a 2000 pg textbook called Current medical diagnosis & treatment, which is a medical reference book not a textbook. To me I think they literally flip to a page and with eyes closed placed their finger on a spot and then write a Q based off the word their finger landed on. When it comes to the clinical rotations they have the most strict guidelines ever and rarely if ever give students their suggestions they would like! Out of my whole class, I think only 1 person got a rotation they suggested and there were about 60 students who have ability to submit. PS this is Pre Covid, I doubt they let anyone now post covid. I submitted 3 and got 0 I wanted, including my elective!!! Finally you have to do a RESEARCH PAPER in this program. The research professor is very belittling in how he talks to students. The research paper is a waste of time and pointless in teaching you how to be a PA. It solely is to make the PA program look good by them posting it on their webpages. They could make the class way more enjoyable and not full of busy work, but the rumor around the program is that the professors purposely want to take you to your breaking point not help you excel. I’m glad I barely made it through and ever have to deal with PCOM again, I'll never donate or be a rotation site for them! I hope by sharing my view of the school this makes people question even applying to PCOM. We need PAs out in the world, go to another school as being a PA is not about jumping through a million hoops and doing countless busy work assignments that PCOM mandates all while being continually put down and belittled by various professors in the way they talk to you.B J

I was recommended to see Dr. Todd Kelman by Dr. Robby Pullen to look at an x-ray taken of my right hand. He wants me to have an MRI to reach a better conclusion than the x-ray shows. We shall see what the final outcome will be. Today, I had an appointment to see Dr. Kelman for an injection on my right hand. Hopefully this will bring some relief. The swelling had decreased somewhat, and because of other medical issues, there is a limitation of methods to be employed. Arthritis is not only painful, but also a nuisance. I'll check with Dr. Kelman in a couple of weeks to see how everything is progressing.Harold Tucker

UNM is an awesome university! I'm currently a junior and throughout my three years here UNM has provided me with a number of opportunities, friends, resources and life skills. The campus is gorgeous, at all times of the year! People on campus are always friendly and there's always a ton going on. Aside from the great atmosphere, the staff and professors are extremely nice and always willing to help. I came here with no major in mind and was able to explore with the help of my advisor until I figured it out. I was able to create the degree that I wanted through the liberal arts program and my focus areas have opened so many doors for me! UNM has also provided me with the opportunity to go on exchange to another University for a whole year at the same price for tuition, amazing! I will always be grateful for the knowledge and skills I've gained as well as all of the amazing friends and colleagues I've made! This is a nice large clean campus. The only bad thing is probably the bicycle theft. Even if you use ulock, there's high chance that it might get stolen. Duck pond is one the best places to chill. This is a terrible university–at least from the perspective of a recent graduate student. From student housing, administration, available student resources (including post-graduation career advising, etc.), to some professor(s) playing politics & exacerbating an already tumultuous time for students, this is far and away the most crooked university I've ever had the displeasure of attending. It should be said there are a few fantastic professors who really made the program worthwhile and indeed enjoyable, though they are unfortunately not valued appropriately by the university. The sustainability of Eden Hall campus is also, frankly, laughable. Prospective students are strongly advised to attend another university or, at the bare minimum, tour Chatham in person and ask hard questions bluntly (How does Eden Hall factor into the financials of Chatham University? What is the base pay rate for students who hold jobs on campus? How will faculty be held accountable for predatory/questionable behavior and treatment of students? What does diversity of professors and executive-level management look like to Chatham? Are professors on the cutting-edge of their field and in tune with current trends/issues/solutions? What is the housing situation and will the university honor leases it enters into with students? What resources are available for students along their graduation trajectory, concerning professional development and career skills? Are some students treated preferentially by executive-level professors and how do you rectify these situations? What is the job outlook for graduates who hold XYZ degrees? Does the dining hall offer meals using ingredients primarily sourced from the campus farm? Will my papers be graded in a timely fashion with appropriate comments and edits where necessary? Will students be caught in the crossfire of professor/administration feuds and treated with disrespect in the classroom? Do professors speak poorly of current students to other students? Are some students given preferential treatment regarding thesis timelines and professor access, how will they be held accountable? Will course expectations for success be explained clearly and the syllabus adhered to, and if not, what is the process for rectifying this issue?)Ryan

I attended Chatham for 1 1/2 years in the Food Studies graduate program before transferring to another university. While my time in Pittsburgh was great and I had many once-in-a-lifetime experiences because of my attendance at Chatham, I feel that the program was nothing like I was led to believe and I often wondered while I was there if things were being done the best possible way. Many great advancements have been happening there over the past couple of years, especially in the Falk School of Sustainability. But it always felt super rushed, like they wanted to be the first ones to do this and thus didn't quite get the input from students and community that they should have. For instance, when they transferred the entire school out to the farm, many of us students were left hanging, with decisions being made without our input that didn't benefit us and often made our lives more complicated. Also, many new classes would be offered that were exciting but felt poorly planned. Ideas for courses would be posed just months (weeks, for one of them!) before offering them. While those teachers were certainly qualified to deliver that course, there simply wasn't enough fore-thought and planning put into the curriculum. I had enrolled in one of those courses because it sounded amazing and perfect for what I want to do, but it was extremely disorganized and didn't even feel like it was graduate level information being offered. Chatham as an undergrad school is also somewhat lacking from what I could see. There are very few majors actually offered in comparison to other schools, and those that exist also have very limited course offerings. It is a great place to go for that small-school feel and to be able to have your voice easily (sometimes TOO easily, given some of the voices that were loudest when I was there) heard by staff, students, and community. It offers a very welcoming atmosphere for diversity and, because of its small size, more opportunity to take on leadership roles in student organizations and such. But there are other schools that aren't as flashy and high-profile that can offer the same programs and just as many unique opportunities at a better deal. Chatham is pricey!!Christine Noelle

chatham seems to have deleted the previous one lol 🤨 but yeah if i could take back ever coming here i absolutely would. they say they’re this super liberal and minority caring campus but it’s the total opposite. someone said that “unless you’re an athlete or bringing them in money they couldn’t care less about you.” and i would agree but even then i don’t think they care about anything but making themselves look good and profit. when i attended i reached out to their “mental health service line” about the challenges i was facing and they didn’t respond to me until i had dropped out of the school over a month later and even then it was only to get a survey of “how i liked chatham?” this place and it’s president are an entire joke and i strongly advise looking ANYWHERE else.Antón Muíño

This school is the bomb dot com. One of the admissions officers, James, gave us a review of what they look for upcoming students, overview of the school, as well as costs. Yes, he answered any questions that we had. Hailey was out your guide for the campus tour and she was from VA just like us. She and my daughter connected during the tour and my daughter was able to ask her various questions during the tour as well as the other students. Be prepared to do a lot of walking on the campus tour, so dress comfortably and wear some comfortable shoes. We happened to tour on a day that the heat index was 121 degrees, but the campus kept us hydrated with cold, bottled water. Honestly, I thought I knew quite a bit about the school. Yet, I learned so much more. Don't count them out because they have a lot to offer for everyone. It's not too small and not too big. A great medium sized campus in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Don't forget to check out Hawk Hill. Most of all, remember that the Hawk never dies!!TheHawksTV

St. Joseph's University, unfortunately like many colleges around the world, is run by corporate types who care nothing about education and ethics. They continue to hire part-time professors who are low-paid and receive no benefits. There are no requirements for incoming 1st-year students, and professors are pressured to retain poor students so that the college doesn't lose their sky-high tuition. Incoming students are offered various government loans and financial assistance to get them in the door. This is the reason students carry terrible financial burden into adulthood–and the tuition costs just keep rising! The SJU administration does not support the professors, the students (unless they are exceptional basketball players), vigorous academic education, or the integrity one would expect from the Jesuits. This was my first onsite class with DeVry. I have had such a great experience with my senior project class here at Naperville. Being that it was my first time, I had to get an ID and receive a quick orientation. The onsite staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. In this session, our class was granted the permission to occasionally use the Addison campus for access to the tech playground for our presentations. Our innovative teacher, Professor Rucks, encouraged us to explore and utilize the facility to aid in our course work. When I needed academic advice and assistance, Mr. Dufresne, Assistant Dean of Academic Excellence, made himself immediately available and went out of his way to make sure my needs were met. Professor Nichelle Manuel made Database Essentials for Business w/ Lab worth every hour taking this class valuable. Her instruction during the lectures made everything that i read just *Click* every week. Her patience with the class really came through when a classmate needed help to clarify a task in our Lab. She made the class easy to understand and learning a new program very valuable. this class has helped me in my career by helping me improve on my relationships at my current employer by knowing how the program taught is the same one used at my place of employment. My school experience at Keller has been great from the start and I can honestly say it has been mainly due to the awesome faculty and professors. My last class Applied Managerial Statistics (Math534) just ended and it was again evident that because of professors like Dr. Al, who has the patience to teach and listen to students needs, that I was able to learn a lot more that I thought I would. I graduated from Widener in May, 2015. I was a transfer student to Widener so I was only there for two years, but for the two years I was there, it was great! I was in the B.S. Biology program so I can only speak for the sciences at Widener and I have to say Widener has a great biology program. All my teachers were easily accessible, willing to help me out, and always wanted me to succeed. There are plenty of research opportunities for anyone looking and there are a ton of clubs to get involved in. Widener also has a pre-health adviser (who is the nicest and most dedicated person ever) and pre-health committee who do their utmost to help those who want to pursue professional careers in healthcare; this makes Widener an excellent school for anyone wanting to go into healthcare. I enjoyed all my classes at Widener and felt like I learned a lot there. Widener is very expensive (but it is a private school, what do you except) however they offer a lot of scholarships and grants which reduced my tuition considerably, the cost of attending Widener for me was actually cheaper than West Chester University. Another big plus for Widener is class registration. I know it can be difficult to register for classes at other schools but at Widener they make it very easy for you and most if not all the teachers are willing to sign you into a class in order to help you which is a huge bonus. My only two complaints about Widener is….one: the registrar and bursar office a.k.a Lipka Hall is the most atrocious place on the campus. Mostly everyone there is rude, mean, and not willing to help you at all. Two: the selection of science classes at widener is limited…I wish they offered a greater variety of science classes like pathophysiology, marine biology, or histology…they really only offer core biology classes so if you are looking to take some "exotic" science classes, you will most likely not find them here and if they are offered, they are offered once every other year which sucks. However the classes they do offer, they teach with excellence and you learn a great deal and although the variety of classes is not huge, you will still get a nice mix to pick from. Overall, Widener is a great school with a great faculty who want you to succeed. Widener will give you a sturdy foundation to which to build your career in the sciences. I think Widener is a diamond in the rough. I have toured and visited a lot of schools, and my experience has been great. If you are looking for a big ( Michigan) or really intense ( UCLA) school, then Widener probably is not where you want to be. If you are looking for a good college experience, or you have a degree already from one of those big high pressure schools.. then Widener might offer you a refreshing pace. The professors really know their students. They work with you, talk with you, and the school is very keen on helping those with Learning differences, which to me is huge given that there are so many who have this issue. I did not want a high pressure situation. I did my undergrad at USC and my graduate work, round one at UCLA… Widener was a refreshing change, and in 7 weeks I finish. I thought it was a 1000 percent better than another school that is trying to be an Ivy League ranked school in Philadelphia…. to me, the private NON Ivy League school in Philadelphia was more of a joke. They were more expensive than Widener, you could not even talk intelligently to anyone, and when I ftried to talk about how their tech dept failed students, I was reminded they are a top tier research school which means very little to a student most of the time, and that school was much more expensive than Widener.. I think you really need to examine what you want in a school and then find schools that fit that bill. Widener is a small sweet and friendly school… it is where people care about each other. Widener is not going to be for everyone, but I think in the years to come it might be one of the better schools to embrace. I also want to talk about tuition. Look, it is a private school, and so it is going to cost more than a state school.. However, if you put it next to UCLA a state school that charges $65K to out of state students, or USC that is a little more… or Georgetown, Drexel, Duke, or other private schools, you are not paying as much, and no one should look at the retail price of a college or university because 85% of all students get some kind of financial aid today… I am very happy with Widener! The key for any student is to figure out what it is in a college or university that they want. Widener has some pretty impressive alumni… so it can not be all bad!T. C.A.C.

The bad: 1. DANGEROUS CITY. Chester ,Pennsylvania has a very high crime rate. Nowhere is safe in this city. A student was shot inside Widener's parking lot a couple of years ago. Both the city and neighborhood are terrible. Walking too far off campus can put you in great danger. 2. Nothing to do for fun in Chester. The city is rundown and the downtown area is filled with many vacant buildings and trash. ALL Philadelphia universities are superior to Widener because of their locations. 3. Widener Law school is the worst in the area. Their graduates fall far behind Temple, Villanova, Drexel, and UPenn law schools. Widener Law is low quality. I attended Widener Law briefly in the 80's before transferring to a better law school. 4. Widener University's reputation is bad in the Philadelphia area. The quality of Widener, both undergrad and grad programs, are below average. Widener gets a bad Rep and is out shined by Upenn, Temple, Villanova, Drexel, La Salle, and St.joseph's graduates and alumni. Even West Chester University is superior to Widener. My child was interested in Widener for undergrad, but turned away due to their low quality and reputation. 5. Widener is not challenging. That's why too many people graduated with high GPAs. The school is easy to succeed. They don't prepare their students properly. 6. Widener is too expensive for a college located in a city like Chester. The Good: 1. Widener University isn't that far from Philadelphia, where there are places to shop, work, intern, and enjoy your college experience. (Attending college in Philadelphia is a better option) 2. co-op program, small class sizes, 3. The ability to transfer to another schoolThomas B. Smith

I can't say anything about the school's academic program, because I only attended for a very short period of time, but their admissions and financial staff are the least trust-worthy bunch I've ever dealt with in an institutional setting. The first time I visited the school, it was for an informational tour where I met up with the admissions office's assistant dean. He asked to see my transcript and resume, and immediately offered me admissions on the spot. Both my boyfriend (who accompanied me) and I were shocked. I was a very good student, and have gotten full scholarship offers before, but have never had a college that accepted me before I even filled out an application. While I was still trying to take everything in, the assistant dean of admissions went to talk to someone and then came back and offered me a scholarship package that would have covered most, if not all, of my tuition. He also gave me an admissions paperwork and urged me to fill it out before leaving. I was still pretty much undecided, but in the end decided to take him up on the offer due to influences from family and friends. Lo and behold, shortly after classes have started, I found out that the scholarship they actually assigned to me was minimal because they said I had missed the deadline for the scholarship for which I was promised. Thus, requiring me to obtain a loan to pay for the bulk of my tuition. I went to speak to the assistant dean of admissions who had promised me the larger scholarship, because I didn't understand why I "missed the deadline" when I had filled out all the paperwork he said was needed for admissions, financial aid and scholarships the same day of the tour (including FAFSA and all other forms he gave me that day). Aside from apologizing and telling me he didn't know what happened, he couldn't do anything to help me get that scholarship he had promised. I told him I couldn't afford that much loan and, in the end, he advised me to back-date and submit a withdrawal form so that the tuition would be zeroed-out (since I was only 2 days past the refund deadline). He assured me that the backdating would take care of my tuition and I wouldn't have to be responsible for it. Once again, I listened to him. Of course, things once again didn't turn out as he had said. After I've withdrawn, I got a call from the financial office to meet with a financial personnel, who told me that the tuition could not be written off because the withdrawal form could not be back-dated, even if it's approved or advised by the admissions assistant dean. I explained to her my situation and how I had enrolled due to a promise of scholarship, and that I had to withdraw because I couldn't afford the tuition due to the scholarship didn't come through for reasons that were not my fault. She called the assistant dean and he confirmed everything that I've said, yet she still denied the tuition forgiveness just because it was 2 days past the official refund period – this in spite of the fact that everything that has led up to my withdrawal was due to misinformation given to me by their administration. There was no compassion. It's all about money. During the entire meeting with her, I did not cry, but tears were streaming down my face. When I walked out of her office, fleeting thoughts of jumping down the second-story railings crossed my mind over and over again. I wanted to use my death to protest and to voice the incredible anguish that the University had pushed upon me. Thankfully, I quickly remembered each time that I still had a very sick mother waiting for my care. Whether the assistant dean had the best intentions in mind, I do not know. All I know was that if it weren't for him, I wouldn't have enrolled in that school, and I wouldn't have withdrawn (if I was going to have to pay for the tuition anyways, then I might as well stay to earn the credits). I was young, I was naive. It was shameful of the school to mislead and then refused to take any responsibility – putting all the burdens on a young person with a mentally-ill single mother.W T

This is the 1st college of pharmacy in the USA. However, Usciences market themselves as being the best college of pharmacy in the USA, although the rankings says otherwise. They are not the best AT ALL. During a tour years ago with my son, the school claimed that they are better than Drexel and Upenn (ivy league). They said their equipment was more advanced , their education is better, research opportunities, etc.. Who are educating the tour guides?? Usciences offer limited majors. Only in a few sciences. What about the other sciences? Technology, mathematics, engineering, etc? The school is misleading and I wouldn't recommend this school. They want to be something they are not. If they don't offer more majors soon, they will shutdown. I also agree with some of the other comments. The staff talks a lot of politics.. Also, a lot of Philadelphians or people living in the surrounding area never heard of the school. This is probably due to the limited majors.Thomas B. Smith

University of the Sciences is an amazing school for anyone looking to pursue a degree in the field of health care, or the general sciences. From my own experience as a student here, we began working together as a health care team and learning about our future professions from day one. As a physical therapy major, all of my undergraduate classes included topics and lectures with application to the field of physical therapy and have prepared me well to begin the graduate phase of the program! I applied here and got in but communicating with my admissions counselor was very difficult. I asked her several times about financial aid and if I would receive any. When I DID get a hold of her she just told me that she's been very busy and to call back later. Which I did, she did not answer, and instead of answering my question she left me and my high school counselor a voice mail asking us to call her once again later. While the food was descent, the service was so so. Once the cashier finally paid attention to us and we were able to order, she was very friendly.
