Great school for a community college. I heard it’s the best around. Many students come from San Diego or from the North just to go here. They do a lot of things by hand (compared to other schools that do things electronically). The grounds are well kept. The parking is horrible during the beginning of the semester. More parking will be available as time comes. When you register for a class, you need to pay the same day or you get dropped. If you’ve dropped a lot of classes, the school might give you a hold because the classes are impacted. There is a daycare center. Parking permits and books are relatively cheaper than most.Aurora A

Good School. The campus is breath taking. Views of the ocean in the dining hall and surrounding areas. Tons of plants and trees all around, a great variety. Staff are helpful. Parking is a struggle, unless you don't mind parking in dirt lots but then it's not worth buying a parking permit. As for professors and academia, they could improve. Check professors ratings onlines some teach to only one or two learning styles. The classes are pretty easy. Maybe to easy.Michael

I've been a student (intermittently) here since 2010. As someone that loves learning and the overall "school" atmosphere, I feel extremely fortunate that I get to be a student at Palomar College; "lucked out", I would say. The teachers are magnificent and have the potential to change your life forever (I know a few that have for me already*). You can get help with enrollment fees with through the BOG Waiver – all my classes end up being free because of it. Parking permits 1/2 off also. The school is modern and always improving. Their buildings are stylish and unlike anything I've seen anywhere else. Each is unique, yet somehow they all come together to form a beautiful campus. I truly look at this campus like a second home. I love going here. (Parking can suck, that's a big reason why I try to only stick to night classes 🤓) ➡️ HOWEVER! They now have a brand new parking GARAGE! I haven't used it yet, as I am only doing evening classes, but I can only imagine how much it helps everyone be able to find parking! It is nice to know that they actually do care about the problems we face throughout college life & do what they can to help make it as comfortable & as enjoyable as possible! UPDATE (3/19/18)!! I started using the parking garage and it is AWESOME!!! Security cameras coming soon! This school keeps on getting better and better!! 'Safety' is also another big thing here that they take seriously. They make sure to inform us students on a regular (& when, if necessary) basis all the details regarding our options when it comes to being and staying safe throughout our education at Palomar. They have their own (actual/legit) police force that is on duty 24/7 & a direct emergency line to call any hour day or night. They provide free escorts to anyone needing or just wanting a little extra piece of mind walking to their car or anywhere around campus. *updated October, 2022* I wish I could warn everyone not to go here. The counselors are almost impossible to get an appointment with, and they make you do some of your own counseling work instead of them helping when it's their job. I had to plan out all my own classes…no one helped me. I also had to figure out which schools accept my AA from palomar because again, the counselors won't help you figure that out. If you have no idea how to do college forms and transcripts, where to start or where to go, DO NOT GO HERE. You will be your own student, teacher, and counselor. *old review below* Now to explain the two stars…as a student here, so far it has been okay. It is pretty hard to make friends on campus and I don't feel like I'm getting enough help from the financial section. I have also asked for help from the counseling department and they told me "you have had too many appointments and we need to save full hour appointments for students who haven't had any." Ummm….okay I understand everyone needs an appointment but to turn away students asking for help? Wow…as I write this review I knocked off stars. The teachers here have been great in my experience; so far I have only had two horrible teachers, Scott Klinger in the photo department and another male teacher who was my math teacher years ago.Alexandra

Keep in mind that you get what you pay for with everything in life. There's a reason it's so inexpensive. On top of that they force their political bias on students in most of their classes. Over my time at Palomar there's been a great deal of times students have to tell teachers what they want to hear for a grade as opposed to what they really believe. This should not be the case and students should have the right to think or believe whatever they want. Also the website where you register for classes is always having different problrms or not working for one reason or another. Also at times it is impossible to contact anyone from the school over the phone. More often then not you have to call 3 or 4 times before anyone is able to get to the phone. There are some genuinely good people and good professors at Palomar. But overall it has not been a good experience for me.Camden Tarico

I'd like to think that because of Covid, there is a lack of help from this college. I have been trying my very best for the last month to do everything myself without the help from any employees at this college. I have not been contacted regarding how to get enrolled, registered, what classes I need, financial aid, etc. I have been struggling since I have submitted my application to this college. You basically have to figure out everything on your own which isn't hard for me to do because I was walked through the steps from my previous college who actually took the time to help me out. While I understand quite a few things, there are some things that I don't understand and that I have questions about but getting into contact with anyone at this college is very difficult. Even through emails, no one responds. This college lacks the skill for helping their future students. I believe that I have done everything necessary in order to be a student but getting in touch with a counselor is the biggest problem. Making an appointment with a counselor via zoom, is quite a struggle and I have messaged quite a few employees at the college but yet, I still haven't received any responses. I am about to give up and just try somewhere else although this college is very convient for me, it's not worth the struggle and hassle at this point. 😔Mary McDonald

Great atmosphere. Their financial aid office needs help though. I started my fasfa around May and I'm trying to get in for the fall. I sat down with the students that help you with the fasfa form online so I don't do it wrong. I had to wait for them to approve it. They told me to bring my parents IRS info, even though I used the retrieval tool. I had to do a dependent verification form. Turned in copies of those. Then asked for my W-2. Then they asked for another verification form. Just constantly asking me for things I turned in. It sometimes takes them weeks to let you know what's next. So I learned the hard way the previous year that they ask for these forms every semester. They didn't tell me until I was applying for another semester. First year student trying to figure them out. I lived in El Cajon when they were asking for forms making this process extra annoying. Apparently they had to restart the process for the new semester. Don't ask me why but this is the most annoying part of school. I advise making multiple copies of whatever they ask for IRS FORMS, W-2, AND TAX INFO. They'll ask for it next semester and start it months before to avoid lines. I'm grateful there is a financial office though or school would be ROUGH! Thank you. EDIT: THEY MOVED TO A 270PERSONAL

City College is represented by the San Diego transit people, MTS, as City College Trolley Station, a cave, possibly Plato's, remarkable for grime and an expansive range of social behaviors not common in the quiet halls of ivy and higher education. The City College Trolley Station, is, of course, the gateway of San Diego's always expanding skidrow that could be seen as starting here and continuing to 25th and Commercial. San Diego and the real estate community promotes skidrow as being the East Village, but it's not really so much a village as it is a refugee camp. And it is getting bigger every day and will one day engulf all of downtown and possibly as far into the neighborhoods as Hillcrest and North Park. I just spent 3 day courses for the "IV Therapy & Blood Withdrawal" class on last Labor Day weekend. I was very impressed by the depth of theory and hands-on practices on Mannequin (hands & Arms) and other classmates(?? Yeah!!). The Instructor was excellent, knowledgeable, and very patient. Everyone in the class was nervous about starting the IV and Blood Withdrawal for the first time,,,but hey, try this course where the instructor can go with you in one-to-one instruction and she really helps you to release all your tensions about these procedures. Fast and intense course of IV & Blood Withdrawal, however the Instructor Peachie, was very helpful since day one. She made sure all information was well understood and made sure everyone was on the same page. Third day was worth the drive. The clinical site was very clean and all the equipment was provided in order to be successful on passing our skill. I look forward on taking more courses here. Mike was a great instructor ! I took the three day in person course and was nervous I wasn’t going to pass the exams but did much better than I thought! It was a lot of information but the instructor gave us a great foundation with the materials covered and the ones that were provided. I 100% recommend West Coast EMT San Diego! I finished my Full Time course at West Coast EMT San Diego location with Spencer Schafer! I feel prepared to take the NREMT exam and go out into the EMS field because of the level of knowledge and preparation that I gained throughout this course. Spencer was a wonderful instructor! He is so personable and knowledgeable about EMS. I learned so much from his lectures! I’ve taken many biology/physiology courses in hs and college, but I never had an instructor really explain the heart function or electrical pathway or the respiratory system in a way that was so accessible and easy to follow like how Spencer did! I truly feel confident in the knowledge that I’ve gained through his lectures. He was very encouraging and it was obvious that he cared about all of his students learning the material and that he cared about our ability to think critically about what it means to be working as an EMT in real life. He took time every class to make sure that any questions we had or any concepts we were unsure about were clarified. He always added relevant videos to show us what different kinds of emergency calls would be like and they really helped provide another layer of connection between the course material and the real life experience. The full-time EMT course is fast-paced, so it isn’t a class where you can succeed if you try to take the easy rout and just go over the PowerPoints; you have to be motivated and actively engaged in your learning; you really have to do the readings and try to understand the material in order to succeed in the course, but if you do put in the work and study outside of class and with your classmates you will succeed! Spencer does a great job of helping his students piece together the important aspects of every medical condition and type of assessment and call that we learned about. He often drew diagrams to go over key concepts that really helped to solidify details about the material ! He is incredibly knowledgeable about being an EMT and Paramedic I really gained even greater respect for him and for EMS throughout this course. I gained so much knowledge and I feel that Spencer prepared my whole class so well to move into the next step of taking the NREMT exam and of actually working as an EMT in the field! I took my 5 weeks course here at SD due to lack of seats at other locations. All the money I spent on Airbnb expenses turned out to be so worth it, considering how effectively I learned from Spencer. Talking to students for about 8 hours a day can be really challenging. Spencer, however, perfectly delivers every lecture, keeping all of his students engaged until the very end. It takes a special kind of passion and gift in teaching to teach so much material so effectively in such a short time. His patient assessment tools and experience in EMS are important assets that helped me gain more knowledge in the field. Spencer accurately understands the most important concepts and points in our curriculum and goes above and beyond to ensure that every student in the class is not left behind. I took the full time EMT accelerated program with Spencer Schafer as the lead instructor. To this day, many months after finishing the course, I believe that Spencer is one of the best instructors/teachers I have ever had. The material taught in this class is well beyond what prepared me to work as an actual EMT, as compared to other schools that do not have the same depth of learning and reiteration of techniques as this class at West Coast does. I am a student at UCLA right now and was home over the summer so I decided to go to school in Vista, Ca for my CNA. I did my research and came across Healthcare Academy of California. I couldn’t have chose a better school or have had a better instructor. Lauren is so great, she explains everything very well and she cares about all of her students. Beyond being very knowledgeable, she is also very funny and has the best stories. You may have to go to school every morning very early for a few weeks but Lauren and all my classmates made it super fun and worth it. The ENTIRE class passed our exams and keep in touch with each other. I would certainly go back for a BLS (CPR/AED) course if they offer that in the future. 10/10 I highly recommend taking this course!!! Lulu (Ms. Lauren) is superwoman. Lulu is the absolute best. She is so hands on and makes the course fly by; too fast in my opinion. I had the best experience here at healthcare academy, I have now finished my cna course with Ms.Lauren. This has been the best class I have attended, she's such a outgoing teacher. Making the class interesting and fun. Definitely didn't feel like school, all our girls ended up being really good friends. I am definitely going to miss this class. First- Shout Outs to some incredible instructors who are NOT there to fail you or to demean you. Sam- Class Instructor was PHENOMENAL! She constantly responded to emails, she is able to take the most complicated concept and break it down for you to understand it. I requested a lot of clarifications and was able to study with here one on one on an off day. Her commitment to a student who puts 100% in is unparalleled. Shout outs to the skills instructors Dan(This old salt who had a really big heart and YEARS of knowledge) RJ and Sarah (both Compassionate and Dedicated to ensuring you understand, def mood lifters). While I should take the time to state that the program could be improved if a Guide on the Skills was given to each student instead of each student writing it down themselves- this would ensure continuity across the Skills Instructors; it should be noted the Skills Instructors we’re aware of these issues and were more worried about the student understanding the major concepts to be prepared for the real world and NREMT exam/test. (Example: One instructor stated to wrap the thumbs togeather whereas another instructor told us not too) The FULLTIME program itself: a ROUGH INTENSE 5 weeks. Its actuality 4 weeks of class with the 5th week consisting of tests. (150 Multiple Choice Final and a Skills Practical) Class started at 0800 M,T,W, TH. It ended around 1600 everyday (some days going to 1700) with an hour for lunch. They do NOT go over every chapter in the Orange book. You are expected to read Chapters by yourself. By biggest recommendation is to Read Chapter 1-6 (or more!) before taking the course. I had to email Matt as this information was NOT put out ahead of time. I would recommend to read and annotate in the book as opposed to taking notes as you will be taking notes in class about the chapters. Note that Wednesday’s are Skills days and are half day. Groups of 6-8 will learn skills togeather. All of your paperwork isn’t due until the end of the last week, but get it all done before class starts. The three days you have “off” are chockerblocked with filling out Study Guides, Sign and Symptoms Notebook, and Reading the Book. (Each chapter takes about 1-2 hours to read). Do not expect to have any down time or time off. I didn’t do anything but this course for the entire 5 weeks. It was mentally exhausting. (I had a cheat afternoon every week on Friday or Saturday where I would hang with friends) We started with 40 and ended with 32 because many students didn’t realize the time commitment or intensity of the course. In addition, the tests are pretty hard. The Midterm and Final pull from the Orange Book- but it can be anything that has been discussed. Studying is a MUST. I’d recommend putting the S/S in a Xcel file btw! Last but not least: the Facilities are lacking any type of water machine and for the 5 weeks I was there, the refrigerator at the Anahaiem campus has black mold in it and the vending machines did not work properly. Being a water bottle! The bathrooms and classroom are wicked nice though! There is a bunch of teaching aids that are in good condition as well 🙂 Overall: I am very happy with my investment with time and money. I can’t thank the instructors enough! But the program could be Improved through standardized Skills Guides for the student, a Water Machine for the Campus, and alerting students to read at least two weeks in advance for the course.D. Would give West Coast EMT a five star rating but they lost my papers at the beginning and made me return them in. Not a huge deal but I couldn’t get my ride alongs done before the course is over. As for the instructors, Toby was the best and I loved having class with him. Bittersweet “graduation” at the end! In terms of class, it was difficult. 18 out of the original 52 passed. With that being said, I feel as if you really devote time and effort to it you will be fine. I studied for about 18 hours a week (3 hours for 6 days) and I passed with no issues. Whoever is at the front desk most of the time was always rude to everyone I saw come through. She was not very helping and overall I just avoided her. In the end, I would probably take WCEMT again if I had to start over (ESPECIALLY if I was going to have Toby!) We had Sam as a sub one day and she was also great. I cannot speak for other courses such as ProTech but this was my experience at WCEMT. If YOU are taking it heres what you need to do: 1) Study Study Study 2) Use your online resources (quizlet is great) 3) Show up to class, give it your all 4) Dont quit!! I took the full-time EMT course here 2 years ago with Kyle and then recently completed my refresher course with Dana. Both instructors are very qualified, helpful, kind, and good communicators who taught the class thoroughly and efficiently. If you are interested in joining a class, here is something to keep in mind: EMT classes are DIFFICULT. They are much more challenging if you choose to take it full time like I did since there is so much new information you need to know in a shorter period of time. That being said, it is likely you will not pass if you are not fully committed to studying everyday and learning the skills. You will be given everything you need to know in class but it is ultimately up to you to thoroughly understand it and commit it to memory. West Coast EMT has a very friendly and helpful staff that will offer a lot of tips and guidance if you ask for additional help. Instructors here truly want you to succeed and do everything in their power to assure that. I have also found the student community to be wonderful and supportive so I recommend starting study groups and building relationships with your fellow future EMTs.Gwen Dahncke

I would not recommend this school at all. Reasons why, getting a hold of a live person is not even possible. I have to jump through hoops to find someone thats even able to help with any type of issues. The college counselings and veteran counselings are a joke, there been a multiple occasions of my time attending this school where something goes wrong, for example, wrong information sent up to VA or no information was sent at all, and wrong information was given to me in regards to the round up semester. I once signed up to an appointment to one of those transfer meetings the school offers and no one showed up, not even the person that was suppose to teach/run it! LIKE C’MON! Currently, I’m trying to find out the statues of my official transcript (Im transfer to another school) and they’re gonna have me email and then wait to find out the statues. Why cant I just talk to someone? Why do I pay money to attend this school for me to just listen to robots or pre recorded people talk to me over the phone? This is the most bureaucratic college in town. Take ages to reply an email, impossible to get through on the phone and everything has to be done in person. And they will create all sorts of hurdles for you so they don't need to do anything. And good luck if you are an international student, they will make sure you're not welcome. I hate dealing with this school over the phone. If I ever have to get anything done I HAVE TO go into the campus. Everytime I call I have to wait an hour to reach anyone and STILL don't receive the help I need. It's 4pm. The school closes at 6pm. I wanted to get 2 classes added to my class planner. My review is based on being a prospect, rather than a student. Back in February, I was considering taking the Billing & Coding class. I sent them an email to get some information, but no one ever got back to me, so I called a couple of days later. The gentleman I spoke to was very nice and scheduled a time for me to come in the following week. I had a really hard to finding the building and was late to my appointment, but they were super nice about it and allowed me to still come in and meet with an adviser, after 5pm. The adviser gave me a packet that talked about the school, but he didn't seem to know a whole lot about the program I was interested in, however he was able to tell me how the process goes. He showed me a couple of the classrooms and asked if I'd like to sit in one, to get an idea on what the class was like. I told him I'd love that and he said he'd call me once he spoke with the instructor. Needless to say, I never heard from him. Yes, I could have called, but if he was really interested in having me as a student, there would have been more of an effort. I even told him the tuition payment would be covered by an organization I'm affiliated with, so making payments wouldn't be an issue. Since I never heard back, I signed up for another program with another institution, instead.Becca B

Dont waste your time or money on this place, alot of the programs they offer grossmont adult school and san diego city continuing education offer for free or greatly cheaper pricing and at the same length of time. All my classmates who passed the class hadnt taken the state licensing test because they were too nervous that they would fail. Course work isnt about learning the material but memorization and they go over the tests before you take them. Students grade each others tests as well. The school will also charge you for days you miss when your sick but still say you need to notify the instructor you'll be absent. Letting the instructor know you'll be absent doesn't seem to matter when they stillcharge you for days you missed if you need to take a leave of absrnce and they will change or ask you to change the date you drop out on your official notice saying it's for billing reasons just so they can charge you for extra days. This was the worst program I have taken and I went to and passed Concorde career college. School only reached out to try and collect money they feel we owed.forrest long

I'm currently taking the Medical Assistant program at CMC. I enrolled here to find a path in my life, and, boy… I have found my professional path and I have grown as a person as well. Miss Page's class has turned out to be a great learning experience! Since day one, she starts preparing you for the most important stuff, so when the time comes for you to prove how much you have learned, it won't be a bitter situation… on the contrary… I have personally experienced the amazing results of Miss Page's teaching. I've been surprised over and over on how much I have actually learned. Not only does she give you great techniques to go through your study material, she cares about you being able to fully understand what you are learning. Being here has improved dramatically my well-being. I've learned to persevere, and to thrive through obstacles. And I thank my instructor for that. The Center for Water Studies at Cuyamaca is a sham. There is NO hands on training except in backflow prevention and lab. I was a student at Cuyamaca from January 2016 until June 2020. They offer NO specialized tutoring for this program. The limited class offerings make full time attendance for financial aid purposes nearly impossible. Too many conflicts, too few options. Cuyamaca's financial aid office left me in financial ruin, an alleged computer error. I was awarded a scholarship that was supposed to be disbursed to me in April 2018. I did not receive it until July 2018 despite repeated pleas to the financial aid office, a dean and a vice president of the college.MP Ryan

The college has a high potential among the competition and it is still developing to this day. Comparing Cuyamaca with Grossmont, Cuyamaca stands out as a leader in terms of student support in all aspects, the quality of the buildings and the teaching system. The staff is always treated with respect. The people around are friendly and accommodating. I recommend this college to those who want to attend college for the first time after graduating from high school. This college is especially the best solution for transferring to any university. its about as near as you can get to saying the whole school is full of socially awkward people. This place is that one place you go to if you can last the whole time without getting laid. in fact it is the only place i can not get laid. southwestern college is a place you can focus, get gorgeous ladies, and have the most best time of your life. pray for me people im going for another semester of cuyamaca to even out my gpa. its going to be one of the darkest moments of my life and i will keep swinging.matthew G.

Don’t know much about the school itself but my son has been to a few basketball camps on this campus and has played in a few tournaments there as well. The gym is massive and has two full size college courts inside as well as 4 high school courts going the opposite direction. I think one side is actually a rec center and has open run basketball games on weekends and some week days. Place is always clean.Joe S.

My daughter graduated from High School with a 3.8 GPA / Cum Laude and is now currently a freshman attending San Diego State and living on campus. She absolutely loves it and has had nothing but wonderful things to say about the classes, the teachers, the campus and the dorms. She is currently an undecided/undeclared major and the teachers have been nothing but exceptional in helping her find her way. If you ask her she wouldn't change a thing. She is excited about her future – ahead in her classes and scheduled to graduate in four years. The campus is really nice. Very big, lots of grass. The new football field and facilities are killer. Solar panels, everything. I went here years back and always loved the campus. Had some great profs. Some not so great, but most of them were very good, cool people that wanted you to learn. They have a multi million dollar recording engineering studio if you're into that. Gardens, Auto Tech. And the library is awesome!H C

Lots of construction still going on. Don't understand need for parking permit on weekends for youth (or any) sporting events. Where is that $100 a year added to property taxes going to (been paying that for over 40+ years). Should have a spot with my name on it.Gary Marshall

I give it 2 stars because most people don't read 1 star reviews, this would normally be a 1 star review. I have been attending college for a majority of 25 years now. I have an MBA, BA, AS, AA, a certificate and many years of finding my direction. I would have to say that out of the 9 schools I have attended this is by far the worst school I have had the opportunity to attend. Some reasons: 1. One class required all assignments be completed or you fail. Meaning out of 1000 points if you missed a 5 point assignment you would fail. Tell me if that makes sense? 2. A teacher that I had spent most of the class discrediting a market society but did not give solutions to rectify the problem. This same teacher would make general negative comments about other majors creating a sense of maliciousness about those subjects. Creating an uncomfortable environment for everyone not his major. This same teacher would use foul language in almost ever sentence that came out of his mouth. This teacher also talked about how his videos of his teaching should be monitored by YouTube and focused on this extensively for a few weeks of the first part of class. 3. Another teacher that I had would inject her political ideas at random times. Like during a DNA lecture she decided that this would be a good time to express her opinion about Georgia's Election Reform laws. The to have nothing to do with each other. This same teacher divulged that Mt. SAC Ed code falls under k-12 standards. How is this conducive to preparing students for a higher education? 4. Lastly my current teacher made comments about dropping me after I told her that I am a Veteran using my benefits. After, I kindly and I do mean kindly, gave her my thoughts on her discrimination. She filled a complaint of harassment to the disciplinary board against me. She never disclosed her discontent with my words at her but went straight to filing an unsupported complaint. If you value your health as others have said, stay away from this college as stress other from learning could be very prevalent.Anthony Petrillo

The teaching is great. The admin is negligent and lacks any ability to communicate clearly or effectively within and between the departments and/or with the students. Take any program you might be considering and triple the completion time frame promised. The consequence is years of lost income. Years of lost income, that is the true cost of attending Mt. Sac. I strongly recommend paying for a private institution or drive to a more distant respectable community college if you ever wish to finish your chosen career path as a means to generate income. Should you choose to work with Mt. Sac. Know that you will struggle to get into classes, and nothing is 100% until it is on your transcript. Guidance from counselors is irrelevant until confirmed by the overseeing department, in writing (irrelevant without pursuing the following), AND shown in your MAP, AND on your official transcript. FIGHT diligently until this is 100% completed. Approximate loss of income to date $30,000+ COVID played a part in this as well. As other private schools continued in person classes with precautions moving their students forward. Mt.Sac did not.Amanda davies

I've been studying here for three years and genuinely feel Mt. SAC is just as great as any California community college in terms of quality of education and its ability to reach out to all demographics. Although, what makes Mt. SAC unique is its large, hillside campus, its proximity to CalPoly and Fullerton; bringing in special opportunities, and Mt. SAC's dynamic atmosphere. Of course, everyone knows parking isn't all that great, but future facilities are being built to address that. Also, not all faculty are perfect, but definitely there are many on-campus services and groups that help you work and prepare in whatever fashion makes you feel at home.Justin Strong

This school does not seem like a community college at all. It feels like a university and you feel like you're in a college City / town. In the three years I’ve attended classes at sdccd campuses, I’ve never been able to meet with a counselor. They DO NOT care about your academic success.laura09mm

Service during the COVID 19 pandemic has been abysmal. Have received no help for clearing a prereq. I’ve called and sent emails to different people for a month with no luck. Due to my horrible experience during these times I will take my business elsewhere next semester.anonyperson

What an amazing place. First and foremost I was able to pass the NREMT within a week of finishing the (accelerated) course. That's ~3 months to become a certified EMT with no background. Secondly, everyone here was extremely professional, patient, and skilled. No BS but also no arrogance. The rotating instructors were super helpful to understand EMS from different perspectives (fire, hospital, ambulance etc.) and always came across as being highly competent even when they weren't trying. Kim and Greg and the rest of the folks running the place are friendly and honest and just great people. I'd say the course focused more on practical and hands-on parts of EMS (skills, demeanor, patient care etc.) then anatomy/physiology, which is exactly what I wanted (there was enough anat/phys to pass the NREMT, also the textbook is handy for additional study). Beyond the in-class days (Mon-Thurs 6-10ppm) I dedicated most of Sunday to the class and was able to pass without a problem. Lastly, they ran an amazing course during a pandemic, and I never felt it was watered down nor felt unnecessarily exposed, which itself is an accomplishment. An excellent EMT course- a lot of work, so be prepared to work- it is worth it and such an accomplishment! Tyler is an extremely effective teacher and would always go out of his way to help us understand any and all information. His practical skills instructors of EMT's and Paramedics were very supportive and focused on being sure that we all became effective and proficient clinicians in the field. The entire staff, Kim in the front office included, continued their support throughout the class. The two internships were eye-opening and a great experience. I was amazed as to how the information, skills and constant practice kept building throughout the course making me more confident each and every week. I felt totally prepared for the final exam and the National Registry Exam by the end of the course. Thanks to all of your staff for your vote of confidence and support throughout this journey!Linda Teahen

Be aware This is a Rush course if you haven’t been in school in over 10 years like me u will not pass this class I had no background of anatomy & physiology so I dropped out after 6 weeks enrolling in a community college we’re I can learn without being in a rush, I give them 3 stars because the owners of this school don’t care if you pass or fail they only care about your money this 10 week course use to be 13 weeks and they made it shorter to make more money throughout the year the instructors let u go home early most of the time and tell u to go on you tube and finish the chapters lol lesson learned.Patty D

I took the part-time EMT course at the beginning of the year and I absolutely loved it. It is intense, especially if you got other things on your plate (I definitely did) and it gets really hard to balance things out. But I do have to say that the structure of the course, classmates, and instructors had made it very possible. I am especially thankful that I had the opportunity to learn and train under an inspiring, caring, and an overall amazing instructor like Shaun. His encouragement played a big role in pushing each one of us to work harder and he always had ways to engage us and prepare us better for exams. As long as you really invest time and effort into learning the material and even go out of your way at times, you will succeed. Almost all of us took the NREMT exam already and passed it from first time. I cannot recommend this course enough!Rama Al-Shreteh

Went to West Coast EMT in Riverside about a month ago. Program is accelerated, so you should prepare before you come into class. There is a lot of students who think it will be easy since it’s accelerated and they don’t put much time into studying. The primary instructor Shaun H was wonderful. He made the class fun, he went into great detail with his lectures and he also held each and every student accountable for their time in class. Lindsay, the office manager was also very helpful. Both Lindsay and Shaun get two thumbs up . Thank you West Coast EMT, I passed National Registry at 70 questions and so did most of my friends in the class.Christina Cortez

I’m only giving this two stars because I had a really (Kyle Matthews) good instructor. But overall the experience was very bad. We had no skills instructors so we had re-attending students teaching us skills training. Also they are never clear about any information so if you have an issue, trying to contact them make sure you send 5 to 6 emails and phone calls. But if you planning on taking this course I recommend that, you take the DAYTIME classes! They don’t seem to care about the night courses. But overall I just feel like the school is just a cash grab. You’ll be better off going to a college.Ray Williams
