The staff is very helpful from enrolling to making sure you have everything you need for class. MTI has some of the best teachers around! Every teacher I’ve had so far has been super helpful and understanding and go above and beyond to explain every step of the way so you don’t feel lost. They will go over anything if you don't understand it, even if it is your 4th or 5th time asking. The availability of the teachers ranges according to their own schedule. Overall, an okay community college experience so far from 2019 to 2022 (I took some summers off). The registration process for me was a nightmare. OpenCC upon some of the other processes were buggy, nonfunctional, or unclear. Despite this, I have to give them slack as when I was applying they were revamping their websites significantly. There's a mixed bag of good and bad staff. Some professors will be insanely rude, not understanding, and sometimes not even lecture properly on the topic at hand. Other professors will be really kind, understanding, and actively willing to work with you. Always look up the professor on Rate My Professor!!! Eservices, Canvas, and Counseling are atrocious. Eservices has been buggy at times or down for multiple hours. Canvas is usually a decent online learning tool, but sometimes it can get buggy and is not always accessibility friendly (as seen by not having a dark mode for example). I recall a time when Canvas was down due to the host servers, which are owned by Amazon, were completely offline. Counseling is not always helpful in guiding you to where to go next, will sometimes not even answer calls nor emails, and can get really busy (even with the switch from the old building to the Welcome and Support Center). I suggest looking up some information yourself on ARCs website first before talking to counselors, such as course catalogs or what classes you might take for a specific associates degree. I wish that counseling would still give out PHYSICAL course catalogs, but it is what it is. Finance is usually okay for parking passes, but other services is like pulling teeth. Communication on what is going on campus varies from good to poor. An example of this is when the pandemic began around midterms and there was the report of two people being exposed to Covid on campus, which caused mass panic and multiple people just walking out of class. Parking can sometimes be an issue, so be prepared to walk a little bit. Also, you will need a parking pass from a kiosk or buy a parking pass permit for the semester. Bathrooms could use some work. I recall a time where after flushing the bathroom started to flood. Food choices were fairly solid. If you were going to Starbucks or Subway during lunch, lines would get long. Only food offered on campus now is either from the student store, the cafeteria, the Oak Cafe, or the few vending machines on campus. Off campus, there's quite a few food places around, such as Lis Mongolian BBQ, Chik Fil A, and In-N-Out. The bookstore has been unorganized in the past, but is relatively chilled back and clean nowadays. Be warned that some things will be overpriced, but that's normal for college. Also, don't be shocked if there's a hassle with ordered books or book returns for refunds.Emily “Emma Anne” Branecki

It's almost like 90% of the people who work here will be rude over the phone and tell you to do everything online. They have messed up most of my paperwork, resulting in me having to resubmit residency forms, application forms, proof of ID. Somehow they put me as out-of-state which includes a 900% markup per credit. I went from expecting a $150 bill for a single class and ended up with a $1200 bill. No one wants to help sort it out. No one wants to answer the phone. The website is difficult to navigate. Honestly, I have had a single positive experience with one person in Admissions, and everyone else has been pushy, rude, dismissive, and argumentative. I am considering switching to literally any other school in the district. My partner attends SCC and it's laughable how smoothly they handled his transition back to school, compared to mine. Edit: it should also be noted that I had applied to ARC 4 times since 2013 and never received a welcome letter. I had emailed asking why I applied and was not told anything, or emailed, called – nothing. I got no response. Called last month because I was at my wits end and I am told "I can't give you a student ID number because your application was DENIED." I asked why and she told me she couldnt tell me. I asked for a supervisor who immediately told me "we have the wrong SSN for you, so none of your applications were accepted because it didn't watch our records." My CORRECT SSN, was being rejected. In 8 YEARS NO ONE EVER TOLD ME THIS. Just like they didn't tell me I was listed as out of state, despite submitting residency information multiple times. This school is a JOKEI Illyria

The college is great..,.. the bookstore however is 1 star at best. The school district sub-contracted it out and the new facilitators understand that they have a built in market from people having to use their financial aid or other assorted vouchers from various Govt entities and as a result they practice poor customer service utilizing people that are quite adept at rapid fire litanies telling you why none of the delays or shortages are their concern or problem. In fact in my opinion 90% of their employees that deal with the public are nothing more than thugs and bully's. They take no responsibility for faulty instructions in how to use the new book site with vouchers and tell you that they are "saaaawrrrrry" when they tell you they can't locate your books and give you a date when they will be in. Once again, in my opinion, they are nothing more than petty tyrants and bullies that should have their contract terminated for lack of accountability on their part. I found Rescue Training Institute on Google because my job required a pediatric CPR and first aid certification. It was super easy to book through their website. The location was really convenient (very close to highway 50). The instructor, Josh, was very experienced and explained the material very well. He had lots of great stories also! I really liked that the class had lots of tools for each student to practice with — cpr mannequins (had lights to indicate if chest compressions were performed correctly), baby mannequins, and practice AED machines. Handouts with class notes were provided. I would definitely go back here to certify again!Shauna White

Sad, I’ve taken this course 2-3 times now with Abby Wik, she’s such an amazing instructor. A few months ago I took the course again and I was just so in shock that they hired a new guy a “marine” with such a condescending attitude and so disrespectful. I asked a question and all he said was “it didn’t matter.” The quality has gone down so much. How are law enforcement officers supposed to learn properly when the trainers are so dismissive and disrespectful to students who have legitimate questions. Not going to lie I was dreading having to spend most of my Saturday taking a CPR class, but to my surprise the instructor made the class very enjoyable and the time seemed to fly by. Josh was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic when teaching the course. He made sure everyone was comfortable with the information before moving on and he had a lot of really interesting stories to share. Overall, my experience was great taking this course!Caitie Thiede

I took Project Heartbeat’s 5 week EMT course last month. It was amazing! I can say that this was probably the most fulfilling academic experience I’ve had. As opposed to the standard community college EMT course, this program is very fast paced. I felt pretty conflicted between the two options at first. However, having completed the course, I’m confident this is the better option. Because of the fast paced learning and the teaching style, information is understood and retained, which creates an excellent medical provider. Instructors were all amazing. Instructors had a great, robust and diverse range of experiences in EMS and military. Instructors did a great job of explaining and preparing you for the actual realities of EMS. Staff all want to create competent EMT’s. There was never a time I didn’t feel like I had someone knowledgeable to ask questions. Plenty of hands-on time in addition to lectures, which is so important for EMT. Lots and lots of practice is available, with many volunteers and instructors offering to come in on their own time to provide extra practice. For our particular class they even allowed some of us to bring equipment home to practice with. Can’t thank the whole staff and all the volunteers enough. Great program, worth every cent. Sign up! I needed to get a BLS recertification ASAP and was really lucky to find Project Heartbeat. The class was $40 and then $20 for the book, which is actually the cheapest one I was able to find. The class was very small (there were 2 of us) which I prefer because I was able to receive a more personalized class. My instructor (Clarence) was very straightforward and made sure he helped us understand the material before moving on. He was open to questions and was very approachable. During the class, we did a couple exercises/scenarios with adults, children, and infants. The videos and lectures were easy to understand and follow. Overall, the class was very fun and will definitely come back for other classes and definitely for my recerts! (Also another plus is they have coffee/tea and snacks!)Christina Lee

I recently took the 5-week EMT program at Project Heartbeat and I had a great experience. Steve, Eric, Brian and everyone else who came through to help our class were amazing! Thank you for everything! They worked together to ensure that we all learned what it means to be EMTs and how to be a good one. All of them take their time to help you if you have any questions or are stuck on something and will do everything they can to make you good providers. The instructors will push you to be independent and will hold you accountable, but be confident and everything will work out. The 5-week program is fast-paced and definitely difficult with all of the new information, but in the end (if you put in the effort and trust them) the process will be rewarding.Hannah

Bradford College of Nursing is the best school. Edwin, Erica and Mrs Marie are the best. They are very understanding, caring, and helpful. I went for medical assisting and now I am certified and working in the medical field, all thanks to Edwin, Erica and Mrs Marie . They treated me as if I was family. They always understands and listens to me, if I had problems with my class schedule they will work with me. If I had 100 questions and I asked Mrs Marie she always answered all my questions. I was more than prepared to take my state exam with ARC all because of Erica and Milva. Bradford has one of the cheapest and shortest CNA program in the 209, which is why I was drawn to the school in the first place. I knew I got my monies worth after completing the program and seeing how much effort the instructors put in to ensuring that their students pass their state exams. Although my group was only able to go to clinicals for one weekend because of the pandemic, we were given more than enough time to practice skills at their Simulation Labs. Their Sim Labs are complete with all the supplies, including beds and mannequins, that are used on the state exam and on actual LTC facilities. I appreciated how flexible they were with payments by offering weekly or biweekly payments, instead of having to pay in full before starting the program like other schools. I was also able to get my CPR certification through the school for an additional $60. Overall, I’m more than pleased with my experience and I now understand why many reviewers raved about the school.Zarah Abenes

I just completed the CNA program the school offers and, I must say it was worth every penny and time. The course was 6 weeks and went by extremely fast. The curriculum is very easy to process. I'm so happy I decided to take the course at the time I did. The instructor Milva is Awesome. She has so much knowledge and you can learn so much from her. The Administrative team Edwin and Erica are great too. The engery and passion the two display to help you be successful to pass your State Exam is phenomenal. Really bad experience, they will send you email so you pay on website and then they will charge you in class again. And they never sent me my Pals card even after charging me twice and been calling them . No call or messages will get answered back. The instructor works in OR have no knowledge about emergency situations. He didn’t even know what is GCS and how to score it and he is ACLS and PALS instructor. Really bad experience .Sumeet virk

Called to ask a simple question and the operator couldn't understand me so she acted like she couldn't hear me. When I told her I was on a landline phone, she started to answer me but gave me a bunch of random answers. I finally asked to speak to someone else, her excuse was everyone is busy. I had to hang up and call the main campus. Please have someone that can understand English work the phones. By the way, the question was "If I have someone go pay my class fees, do they only need my student id number." when I called main, the question was answered right away. I graduated here in 2011. Now 11 years later I still have mixed feelings. You should go to this school only if you absolutely must stay in Sacramento. If you’re recruited from another country for a sport, please note that Sacramento is the capitol of California but it’s 8 hours driving from Hollywood and nothing like the movies. Many of my tennis teammates came from Eastern Europe and said they had no clue, they thought they were coming to do college at the beach and hang out with celebrities. One of the many, proud students who used to go to Sac State; graduated in the fall of 2019 (and luckily before Covid-19 told everyone to screw off). I was trying to get into Graphic Design but I had no money. So I opted instead for a BA in Studio Art Methods (New Media Focus). I was taking Multicultural Studies on the side. Everything is expensive, some of the faculty have personality issues, the few Alt-Right people kept "yelling theater in a crowded fire house;" the school's transit system doesn't go far enough, and some of the buildings had issues with rain water coming through the roofs. But I have no regrets. The area's beautiful, we're able to get help with food and studies, the learning of other cultures was "colorful" in a positive way, and most of the faculty are pretty awesome. It's not UC Davis, but I highly recommend taking your chances here.Hectotane

I went here on my Field Trip in my Sophomore year and I got to say I was speechless. I was amazed by the structure of the buildings, there was bunch of scholars/students of this University and it was so big that I didn't know what kind of reaction I made. It was fun walking around and seeing so many people. It feel kind of weird because I don't like to see so many people in one place. The cafeteria is pretty small. It crowded most of the time because I can't believe they even have fast food restaurants inside a cafeteria and also Starbucks. It feel like I can reach the top of the ceiling over my head if I was tall enough and be able to touch it. I enjoyed it and it was fantastic to experience a University college.Cheesy 24

I am sharing a personal observation that Cosumnes River College and illegally violated the law by showing discrimination and prejudice against people with lawful medical excemptions. The names of the employees who violated Robert Rincons rights to attend in person learning and excluded him from their learning environment in violation of law are: Associate Vice-President of Student Services Tadael Emiru, RTVF Instructor Lauren Wagner and Admissions staff of Cosumnes River College. The above employees have violated Robert Rincons right to attend in person learning free from discrimination and prejudice. Robert Rincon is fully vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus. He is a student at this college has a right to attend in person learning per the Civil Rights act, ADA, Federal and State backed law that any person with a disability shall not be discriminated against. Robert Rincon has a signed Doctor's medical exemption from wearing face coverings due to his unique medical situation of having drop down seizures therefore he can not wear a mask. Robert Rincon has a right to attend in person college and not be treated differently because of his seizures medical condition. He has a huge following on social media, and many advocates willing to stand up for Robert's and any person with a legal and medical exemption. I respectfully request Robert Rincon be reinstated to his in person classes immediately per the Federal and State law requirements. Took a summer course at a Los Rios College. I then decided to take courses at CRC. Their policy says you don't get funded for a class if it isn't required in your major. It seemed dire when I heard this. I reached out to and spoke with someome who was cool, in my opinion he cared about resolving my dilemma. A supervisor explained to me the school policy. She also said a counselor may be able to override this mishap. Thing is counselors are booked. Overally most of instructors and staff of this college and other branches of Los Rios need to see a psychologist and psychiatrist because they are enjoying via harassing and abusing students. I am now attending a fantastic university that offered me many incentives to come here. It was thanks to my enrichment in the Honors Program at ARC that I was offered the Regents Scholarship from UC Irvine. This place is the best place to take your EMT. Trust me. Coming here was the best experience for me. I had the best time of my life. The instructors are the best. Alex, Allison, Alvin, Carlos, Corine, Dave, and Mary. Those people I just named are the instructors and they are awesome. They are the best. They will help you, and they love to work with you. Each has their own fun personality. I wouldn't go to no other EMT program if I was you. I live next to a college that has an EMT program and i still chose to come all the way to Davis just to take EMT, and it was worth it. I also found the people that attended Onsite Medical Service to be Amazing. Me and my semester still keep in touch to this day. Trust me Onsite Medical Service is well worth the money…..Oh yea i got to mention this. I use to be a huge litter bug, and throw trash everywhere, and one time i was eating a Popsicle(Onsite Medical Service keeps free Popsicles in their freezer for the staff and students and other snacks are available for purchase) and i threw the plastic wrapper on the ground in front of one of the instructors named Allison, and………Well lets just say i never littered again after that. I want to thank OnSite Medical Service, Ink, and instructor Emily Droesch for her Superior Life Saving instruction for the 2014 Healthcare Provider CPR and AED instruction, which gave me the tools to save the life of a 16 year old girl from Tracy, who collapsed from cardiac arrest as a spectator at her sisters softball tournament in Salinas over the Thanksgiving week. My employer California Health and Wellness has obtained an AED device and will now implement a company wide training!! Anyone can save a life!! Please Get Trained here!! We were coming onto S. Whitney in Rocklin, a few minutes ago, and had to slam on our brakes, sliding on a rainy road, to stop at a four way Stop Sign for a Sierra Emergency Truck with its red lights on, but no sound. It was going through all the stop signs and red lights, we know because we were right behind them, heading home. But then, instead of going down Taylor toward the Hospital, it turned it's emergency lights off, and turned left into where they have the office, here in Rocklin. There was no emergency! They could have caused us to get in a wreck, and risked thier own, and others lives, needlessly, driving like that! I don't trust a Driver that would be so careless. They processed my documents, answered the questions I had at the kiosk, took my payment, and had me out the door in 15-20 minutes.
