Administration is very good at isolating themselves from students. Too many classes are offered online only. Teachers are okay. Classes are small. An unpleasant attitude of discrimination is top-down here. My advice – stay away.Moriah Argall

The teachers are great and the campus is nice but trying to get financial aid during COVID is impossible. The financial aid advisors are rude and don’t seem like they want to help you at all. Just because of this reason I will not be recommending MHCC to any of my friends and would suggest to go to Clackamas Community College where they are much, MUCH more helpful.Dima Poperechnyy

You have to take the bad with the good. There are some great people who work for this school, then there are people who could care less bout you and your education. They make you jump through hoops and pass you around with little to no help. As an adult student using the GI Bill, I think this was the perfect way for me to get back into the swing of college again. The instructors are way overqualified in most cases, and I think it is shameful that most of them have to work at multiple colleges in the area in order to pay their bills. The cost for students is a great value. The buildings have all been updated and I think are great. I really enjoyed coming here. I ended up with 2 associates degrees when I left here. The cafeteria when I was here was not good. Horrible food that was too salty for the most part. The section that helps Veterans maneuver the funding was questionable at times, but the area for Veterans to hang out or study was pretty darn awesome. Parking can be tight depending on the time of day.Andrea F

The Oregon City Campus is beautiful! The one stand out regarding education at CCC is the faculty care about their students. CCC is also the most economical Community College in the state. Some points of interest would be the Environmental Learning Center. What a fabulous place to view wildlife, native plants and meander peacefully around the paths. Parking is close. You can meander another 2.1 miles around the perimeter of the college on a wide path. Most is paved, the remainder is finely crushed compacted gravel, so pushing a pram or pulling a wagon full of little ones is easy. Many spots are shaded for you true Oregonian 🙂Karen M

You can't be transferring or just going to this school as a freshman in anyway. It's one building and has a library with no books (you just barrow them from other libraries). OIT is part a trade school and has few full time faculty. This would not be a good use of your money and relying on a finished degree from this commuter school would not be doing you any favors. The receiptionist was very rude! I drove 30 minutes to OIT to ask some questions in person, because sometimes you can't find answers to some questions on the website. And whenever I asked her a question she'd say "You can find everything on the website". She was acting as if she wants to say "Get out of here. I'm busy". This school is a scam. They are so cheap, yet tuition is very high. Over half of the classes aren't available in class. They lack the basics of any colleges such as a cafeteria or a bookstore. The library is smaller than someones personal book collection. If you are thinking of going to this school don't. Although the training was adequate, it’s been 12 days and no eCard has been provided! I waited the 3 business days as recommended, then I have had daily phone calls to Angel in their SW Portland office. Each day’s call is a promise of receiving the card tomorrow. Finally. today I drove to their office and found only one person there. He said they are “horribly understaffed”, there is “only one admin person for the state of Oregon”. He could not promise when I would be getting my card. I would recommend seeking your training elsewhere, I certainly will be!Jerry King

I went to Cascade Training Center for my BLS renewal about a month ago. The entire process was smooth and easygoing, starting with the online sign up for my needed course. Cascade Training sent out multiple reminder emails leading up to my training date, and once at the training center the staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and dedicated to instructing us students. I received my e-card 24 hours after the course and had no issues with claiming it. I highly recommend their services for any of your healthcare related CE and training needs!Bernadette Brady

I took Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) with Cascade on a Saturday morning. The location is easy to find and central with plenty of parking. Use the instructions they send and it’s comp’d. The facility is clean and well appointed. Each station had adequate supplies. The mock scenarios were challenging yet reasonable. It was a fun learning environment with a highly experienced NICU resus RN. I highly recommend Cascade and am looking forward to other courses with their organization.Michael H

I retired from 20 years of active duty service in the U.S. Navy in 2002. When I left the Navy over 15 years ago I had been through several of the Navy's environmental survival schools and field first aid training but nothing on a TCCC level, as it had not been developed yet. Both myself and my girlfriend enjoy going to the range, SCUBA diving as well as open road cycling. We also do a lot of our own home improvement requiring use of power tools. Now we’re not Spec-Ops “door kickers” but we realize with today's environment and the potential remoteness of our hobbies, the need for more advanced training outside of a Basic Life Saving or the hour long STB course was needed. Mike's course taught our leadership team crucial skills in a clear, hands-on, rational, and accessible manner. Mike's approach delivers Stress Inoculation for the learners, which I deeply valued. The topics are intense and real. Thinking through scenarios in advance can only serve us better in a real crisis. He brings decades of skill to his training and passes it on to his students using clear instruction and demonstrations. I'm constantly amazed at the depth of his knowledge. Dr. Shertz's immense experience and training has been invaluable to me not only as police officer but also as one of the lead trainers in my agency. He's had a tremendous impact on our in-house Tactical Emergency Casualty Care training. In fact, it wouldn't exist without his teaching and guidance. I was in the dental assisting program. I had the best experience with Carrington College. I had an amazing instructor, Mrs. Rochelle and a awesome career advisor, Tim. From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed. Sam, at the front desk, was always great. She cracked a joke every once in a while which just sets your day off right. Lectures were very informative. Mrs. Rochelle has a background in dentistry and in public health, so it was a great experience learning from someone who knew what they were talking about. She will always work with you and set you up for success. Tim is the kind of career advisor you need as you are heading off to your externship sites, he will work with you, answer your questions, he is also honest and straight forward. If you’re considering coming to this school, please save yourself the $17K! Im currently a 2nd term student in this school. However, our teacher left as soon as term 1 was completed. Today, I have been in my course for a whole term with NO INSTRUCTOR/TEACHER. We are coming to campus twice a week and still learning nothing or comprehending the work. We been bouncing in between instructors for other courses who has no idea what we should actually be doing. Im considering withdrawing and pursuing my reimbursement. Wish I had done more research about this school. I contacted all appropriate people, admins, deans, supervisors. Nothing has changed, empty promises of “someone filling in or actually teaching the class” nope. Still no one and it’s been over a month. I start the MA program on Tuesday but everyone has be SO unbelievably helpful from the first phone call til now. I never thought I’d have a chance to go to college, my parents didn’t talk to me about it or encourage me. I finally decided it was time and Courtney made me feel safe and confident that I’d be successful. Fast forward to orientation, I had a leg injury and was nervous that I’d stick out. It's a great school, with a lot of amazing instructors. That being said, since COVID, it's been a little rough. I'm currently trying to complete my AAS in Computer Systems and Information, but it appears there are less classes available after the pandemic. I'm trying to get my full grants, but I can't because I don't have enough CIS classes available for my required credits. It's been a year since I went to school (after a smooth year attending class full time), and after attempting to get full time every term in that year, I've had no luck. Hopefully this turns around in the future, sadly it's still a tough go in the pandemic with class availability.Arthur Cornwell

Chemeketa Community College had an ASL "teacher" named Bobbi Bowman who was highly unprofessional. In class she repeatedly made critical comments about "all hearing parents of deaf children" (some of which were in her class trying to learn or improve their ASL) I hope they got rid of her because her bad attitude and ignorance wasn't helping these parents or their deaf children.Just the facts

They fish and bait their students for the Nursing Program. They promise you that you will have every oppurtunity to apply and yet a year and a half later of paying they have new requirments that require job experience and a certificate that will be useless in a Nursing Degree just to be able to apply. I would not recommend this college with their shady tactics to anyone.James Julian

I'm so disappointed with this college. My experience with student services and some of the advisors has been terrible. I've sent my transcript multiple times, yet no one has any information about me. I keep going in circles and no one seems to know what they are talking about. How can I trust an institution that can't complete simple tasks and keep track of important student documents? I'm also wasting time and money taking classes that I should be able to test out of but haven't been able to because they don't have testing available due to COVID. The rest of the world is adapting so I'm not sure why this college can't get with the program. Seems like a good way to get more money out of students. Also, I believe because this is my second degree, I don't get priority registration for classes. I can't get into the ones I need. It's extremely frustrating. Overall I wish I would have applied to a different community college. The plus side to this place is the instructors. I've been impressed with the passion that they display. It's endearing. This review is not for my experience at PCC, which for the most part has been quite good. I've liked my professors, and have learned a lot over the last year. This review is for a recent experience I had with an advisor. I reached out to advising to discuss dropping out for the winter term because I contracted covid and homework was not something I could even fathom doing, and this was before my symptoms got as bad as they are currently. The advisor I spoke with, Leopold Hauser, made a great effort to tell me about how he was sick with covid and it just wasn't that bad blah blah blah blah. Basically giving me a huge middle finger in the face of what is now the sickest I've been in years. The fact that this man is advising people when he contains such little empathy is beyond me. If everyone at this school acted like Mr Hauser then this place would be out of business.Alex Weeks

So based on the recent reviews, I'm not the only one who has issues with the advisors. The lady I spoke to on the phone was rude. It didn't seem like she wanted to work or answer my questions. She told me it takes 4-8 weeks to get credit for my degree since I'm only doing a certificate while the course starts next week. So what is the point ?! If the advisor is my first look at the college, then pcc isn't for me. Train your advisor staff on customer service ! And maybe your prospective students won't be going elsewhere.andrea lee

I was told I had to buy the book or they would not give me my card and the lady at the front desk was very rude to me saying she could give me her number to give to my mom and she could call and pay for the book and kept pushing me to get her number when I said no thank you I'm trying to get ahold of my mom. And then after class she would not get off her phone so I could buy the book so they would give me my card. I will not be returning to this class.shelby ketterman

I never want to hurt any businesses ability to grow or to be profitable, but I think there is much to be said about this company. I took the time to read all the previous reviews, and it appears to me that there was a pattern of disappointment and a need for this business to be investigated. Suddenly the reviews changed to be only favorable mostly towards one person who is the owner of the company. I find this suspicious and odd as if they are all being asked to write a review. Although this Maryann may be a good instructor for some; it was not the experience my family had at this school. I am very close to someone who was touched by one of this schools male instructors, and without apology from Maryann. She came in the classroom spoke to the class in front of her male employee and once again left the all female class alone with this man to finish the day. She never once bothered to contact anyone, and she made my family member feel completely intimidated which based on previous reviews is a normal pattern for her. One reviewer said she was abusive. This is utter neglect for any instructor and definitely a business owner. I also discovered in reading the reviews this is not the first time this same male instructor named Bruce had crossed the line with students or staff. I find this woman to be disgraceful, sickening, callus and clearly greedy. I would caution any person to beware of this woman for any class that she may have your family member in and make sure you talk to them to be certain they have not been placed in harms way with this woman. The only reason my family member was allowed to complete this program is the office manager; a young woman that works there named Skorpiaa. She was sincerely apologetic, reassured me that no one in the class would ever be near this man again, and she checked up on the welfare of the students daily until class was over and she contacted us to make sure we were doing well. She is a true delight and I trusted her and her word which she owned. I will definitely be filing a complaint against Maryann and her school with the oregon state board of nursing. Anyone with this type of blatant disregard for a clients safety and welfare should not have a business.proud parent

I was not sure how to write this review or if I should write it. I was referred to emt by former coworkers who had attended the nursing assistant class before me and all they talked about is Scorpioa and how awesome and great she is. after attending class here I understand why they liked her so much because I do to but I also know why they didn't bother to mention anything about the instructors. our class instructor was Maryann who is one of the most abusive people I ever had the displeasure to meet. I don't know if the way she speaks to students and treats students is permissible but it should be reason to close this place. she raised her voice and slammed on the desk while speaking to a student, she was hardly ever in class with us and she showed everyday that she couldn't wait for our class to end. the clinical instructor Margaret has the beginning signs of dementia. this lady is to old and to out of sorts to be teaching anyone. we also had this guy name Bruce at clinicals who was more interested in flirting with some of the students and staff than he was interested in teaching us. I have never been so happy for something to come to and end. I wish Scorpioa could be the instructor or had her own school because I would pay any price and I'd tell everyone I know looking for a class to attend. but I will not give another dime to emt and I will seek to receive my cna 2 some where else. I thought the lower price was a good idea but then you get what you pay for in this world.CNA Girl

I wasn't sure how to rate this initially but given that the instructor and the manager here were an absolute 10++, I thought I should say something. I took an ACLS and PALS class here and all I can say is Richard is BRILLIANT 🙂 He made the class understandable, useful, and fun. Things were so chaotic when I first arrived and right before lunch because a few of us had problems with our registrations and payments. I just want to say that the woman in the front office has been there for a million years and the way she treats people shows it. She's rude in every sense of the word and has zero people skills. The owner Maryann is worse as she has no business etiquette. She came into the class and asked people for money in front of the entire class. She's also a terrible instructor, and if I have to take these classes again I'll look elsewhere before I have to deal with her again. As for the manager she has the most amazing accent, I think she can make anyone smile, found a quick and satisfactory solution for everyone involved. I wish I could remember her name all I know is it's exotic and beautiful just like her. I met with Heather Smith who cancelled our first meeting and that happen to pushed me out of the application deadline I will have to wait 6 months for the next round. She gave me the incorrect information on which room to meet her in and let me disrupt an entire class and instructor before pulling me out. She explained she knew she gave me wrong info. But never called and just let me go there anyway. After meeting with Heather for a short time she got up and advised me she would be right back. She returned with a advising business card and told me to get a job. Heather, with her middle finger, advised my family coach at DHS has no idea about PCC climb program and not to look there for resources. She didn't offer any information on adding credentials to become hirable or really any info on the program. I have never been left feeling so discouraged.Kari Culver

PCC Climb is the most unprofessional organization I have had the misfortune to encounter. Do not take a BLS or ACLS class at this institute. They pass people for any reason in the BLS program. Good luck getting into your ACLS class! When you arrive at climb there will be requirements that you were not told about during the registration process. I even called the night before to be sure. I was never told about the pretest. The check in clerk will insinuate that you are a liar and never called climb because you don't know the name of the person with whom you spoke. Thankfully there are other options for obtaining medical CME in this town. I will make sure everyone I come in contact with in medicine understands what this organization is like. I needed to get my ACLS card in a hurry as I had let mine expire and needed to start a new job in a the following 2 weeks. As the only Respiratory Therapist I was welcomed in a room full of EMT's and Paramedics. The course was straight forward with emphasis on the most salient points to remember that both serve the patients we take care of and assists the participant in achieving their ACLS standing.
