She was at the point where it told her she had to pay the $30 application fee to continue. So she did but never did anything after that. Then she decided she wants to go to a different School instead. I've been calling the admission office shortly after that. I've left messages on what this is regarding n NO calls back until Nov 25th from April in admission. I still have the VM. I've called back n again left a message. To this day (March 25), I still haven't heard back n I've been calling!! I finally called the school itself not admission n the lady said. I'm sorry since she started the admission you don't get your money back!! What a waist of my time n I don't feel this is right. If a child NEVER finished the application!!! Took a cooking class. Instructor was very nice but seemed new or nervous or something. It was more her showing than us cooking. The teachers for the most part are great. Student center and student billing either need to communicate better between them and the student or need new people in there over all. I’ve had issues since summer of 2018 with bad communication from them. I had 3 different advisors in less than a 2 semester span. Got scheduled into a class where the clinicals conflicted with the other classes I had. Got denied dropping that class but was not emailed or called about the denial. Found out about it when I was scheduling fall classes. Finally got it approved after the fact of all that mess and it messing with my financial aid. Oh but on top of it all, I would call student billing get no response back for so long (continued to rack up late fees due to no response back) I sent them 2 emails but not response back for days. They never actually looked into my account until I drove 35-40 minutes to find out why they said I can’t make online payments (even though I literally made one the month before) and comes to find out another mistake was made on with my account and I can make online payments. That’s not all, I had a $100 late fee put onto my account before it was even past due (and it wasn’t past due considering I made a payment). The communication is not good. The building is not very inviting because it is so big, but once you get in and figure out what's where it becomes less intimidating. I graduated here with my associate's degree in Leadership. 60 of my credits transferred from NWTC to Concordia University of Wisconsin. I preferred the video conference classes. My son is currently attending the school. I was a student there back in the early 80's. The campus is very nice. Helpful faculty, variety of courses and majors. Good food choices at the cafeteria and a workout area with plenty of free weights and machines with an attached gymnasium. Lots of nice areas to study both inside and outside.David Klinzing

Excellent place to take a test! I took a certification exam through Pearson Vue at NWTC. The test center employees explained everything thoroughly and the center itself was quiet enough to take my exam. Professor Gorski, McHugh, and Lucas in particular went above and beyond to make sure students felt supported and were able to learn to the best of their ability. If you’re not sure what you’d like to major in there are brilliant advisors willing and ready to help you decide the route you would like to take. I visited Northcentral Technical college for my son who is a senior in Elkhorn high school who made it to the semi-finals for WI Esports for the game Smite and they hosted the competition for the semi-finals and finals for numerous games from high schools all over WI and I had a great time and the campus was awesome and really nice, the set up was awesome and everyone was so welcoming, I'd go back anytime!!!Elizabeth Orwig

I recently finished my second Technical degree for Metal Fabrication as a returning student. I delayed going back to school for years for lots of reasons, but mostly because I thought it would be as awful of an experience as High School was. Instead the teachers in my program were excellent. I was always challenged by the projects and supported in my learning in equal measure. If you're looking to get into welding or Metal Fabrication, these programs are career fields that need people, pay well, and you can learn them here! Don't sleep on the trade skills that can be taught here. Go to the open houses, see if these are things you're interested in doing. A 4 year degree isn't The guarantee of employment it used to be, but these one year Technical degrees, leading to in demand fields are.Travis H

Very nice tech college. Almost everyone you come across on campus can point you in the right direction. I just started school today online. But tomorrow I get to go to campus. It's a clean sanitary environment. There is currently some remodeling going on, so part of the building you cannot access… yet! AC was on, felt awesome. temperature didn't change much room to room either. All the employees seem to know their job very well and are willing to help. I chose Madison Area Technical College because I know many people that have graduated and successfully got into a job they wanted. This school is also smaller than UW Madison so I feel like the learning experience is better, more hands on, more participation versus a large school such as UW Madison.Shane Toycen

The good profs here are all just professors moonlighting from UW Madison, I'd honestly say you should apply to and go to literally any other UW system school before here. The quality of education isn't bad- but they somehow managed to misplace finances and put 650 bucks into collections randomly – without mailing me any notifications, and without a notifications on the online portal. You won't get competency from any of the administrative staff, expect 5 week long waits to see a counselor for any sort of urgent need. If you are a student with a disability – make sure you have additional copies of any medical documentation, they will claim to lose it. Most of the education staff despises the administrative staff and yeah, I can see why.Bee

I have had an amazing experience with Herzing University! I am excelling in my degree choice and I couldn't be more satisfied with my learning experience and the flexibility that the online program gives me.The instructors are all willing to help whenever I have a question, and if they see many students struggling with something, they will post an announcement with some helpful tips on how to proceed through our courses. The learning material is easy to understand, the discussion boards really help me connect with my classmates more than I normally would, the library is full of everything you might need for your studies, and the Coach rooms and Tutoring center are very helpful! I have seen many posts off and on about how students struggled in this school. I have to say the most common thing I see students struggling from in these courses is not doing the assigned work on time, not participating in the discussions, and not following the assigned directions on assignments. We have to take responsibility and do our work (on time!) or we will not succeed, and we should not blame someone else for our lack of trying. Just with everything else in life, if you do not put any effort into something, you will not gain anything from it. At that time, school was still establishing itself, therefore, I had some rough time getting through the program, but overall my experience was good. This year I came back for my MSN FNP and let me tell you ))) My experience with Herzing in 2019 is absolutely amazing. This school grew so much! I am in my sixth week taking online courses at MATC. I have chosen the IT Support Associate Degree program, for two reasons: One the program is only two years, I’ll be able to launch into the job market faster, and because IT is such a diverse, and fast growing career path, I know I will find a fit into the IT world upon graduation. I chose MATC because MATC is convenient and conventional. I can take classes online, at my own pace, and be on campus for the classes I need more focus and dedication to. This IT program combined with my 10 plus years customer service experience, I know I will be able to reach any career goal I set. Now, while my interest in computers and knack for problem solving I know this career path will be suitable for me, however, to any prospective student looking for a quick money type of career, this program is not for you. This program consists of lots of physical and mental work, also taking consideration of the customers you are serving. If a prospective student welcomes challenges and is comfortable with asking questions and not feeling intimidated by the mass amount of information you will retain then this is a program for you. Prospective students should also be aware that they don’t have to work or figure stuff out alone, one of my favorite accommodations is having access to tutoring, whether online or in person- at all campuses. Fellow future students should also know that acquiring their degree at MATC is a smart money move, students can save thousands of dollars getting their education here, as opposed to a four year college/university. Information Technology is very informative program. This program breaks down a lot of things that can happen with computer systems. It is a to-date program. I choose this program because I want to go more in depth with technology. Everyone uses technology every day. I would like to be able to assist those who are not tech savvy. MATC I.T support program has a great path program. Pathway allows you get a few certificates take a break and come back for your diploma. Completing this program will give the knowledge and skill I need to become an I.T professional. Instructors are very helpful. Staff is friendly. My experience in MATC IT Computer Support Specialist program is limited but good so far. I chose to pursue this degree because it lines up well with my current work experience and career goals. So far, I have been able to take all my classes online with no scheduled class times, so I can complete assignments at my own pace without interfering with my work schedule. Another thing this program does well, is that it offers options to achieve many different certifications on your way to a degree. I transferred here from another college and honestly it was the best decision I could have made for myself. Herzing works with many different aspects of my life. Specifically, the Kenosha campus although a bit of a drive from home, I absolutely love this place. The front desk staff always says hello when I walk in the door, the nursing staff has been so helpful and always willing to meet and help work with me. And honestly, I’m blown away by the administration (the campus president, the Dean of Nursing, and the Dean of Education). They are honestly what makes this University what it is. They always are there for you, door open, willing to listen and to be a resource/guide for you, to help you to work through issues your having. They may not be able to fix everything, but they sure do everything they can to make your experience amazing and memorable. They have made such a positive impact during my time here. I would definitely consider coming back to be an educator after I become more established in my career as a Registered Nurse. I am just starting my third semester at Herzing and I can't say enough about the Administration, Professors and staff. EVERYONE is there to help you succeed. It's a small school and because of this it's very comforting to walk down the halls and have staff know your name. I am meeting people and can tell I am going to have lasting friendships. I decided to choose Herzing to learn Insurance Billing and Coding because they offered classes online, but here were also campuses close to my home. I wasn't sure if I could be successful in juggling my family, a stressful full time job and school. Herzing is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. My online advisor has been there to guide me through many questions. The online educators have been excellent as well. I also have to mention that there are Librarians, and Academic coaches all there to help achieve success! Someone is always there to help me! I have a degree in psychology from another university and decided to return to school for my BSN at Herzing Brookfield. The professors are amazing, supportive with every step and are really there for you any time you need them or ask for help. The tutoring is great and the rest of the staff is always there for the students for support, to problem solve, or help with anything as well. Schools in my past, it would take forever to see my adviser, meet with a professor or get an answer from financial aid. At Herzing Brookfield, all of the staff is great, I know my adviser (she was also my lab instructor), and financial aid is great at everything they do for the students here. The smaller class and lab sizes are great because we get much more focused attention from our professors and they really want to see us succeed. I have attended 2 colleges and 2 other universities in my past. I remember two advisers names out of all of those schools. Brookfield is very different because there is no way I would be able to forget my teachers, advisers or the rest of the staff. This has been the best experience I could have asked for.Irene Serrano

I have had the worse nursing experience in my life at this school. They do not teach to the exam so the only information you can rely on is all on your book. The teachers are helpful, but they have no control over what is being tested on the exams. For our first exam the class average was a 60% and this was the highest average between all schools. All of the students have voiced there opinions and we have been ignored. There is nothing possible about Herzing and you will end up failing or teaching yourself how to become a nurse. I graduated in September of 2019 and decided why not go right back (May 2020) and begin my BSN journey. I had Chris as my instructor and he was great! I took the Pediatric and Adult CPR First Aid course, and I was only in the class for knowledge, not my certification (though I did receive it). He was more than happy to go outside of the classes subjects and teach me extra. My 15 minute class turned into two hours, and I'm really happy with everything I've learned. If you're a civilian looking to learn for the sake of knowing what to do in a situation where someone needs real help, this is the place to go through.Meadow

This is my second time going to Healthline for BLS (and renewal). Andy is extremely nice, helpful, and quick with responding (calls/emails). Both times I've been here were awesome with the instructors and hands on learning. I appreciate it since I personally don't use these skills or devices in my every day life at work. I recently registered for a CPR trainer course. I learned that this particular course would not allow me to be reimbursed. I requested a refund on 10/11. I was told that someone would reach out to me about the request. Two weeks later, I had not heard anything. I called and spoke to a young woman who was clearly not aware of even basic customer service standards. After being put on hold several times, and being told that it can take 30 days for a response, I did speak to another individual. She was a bit more informative and told me that they usually don’t issue refunds but she would try. She then also stated that it would take 30 days for me to hear a response. I find this practice unacceptable. I am disputing through my credit card and this company has lost my business. Make sure if you register that it is exactly what you need.Sharain Horn

I would highly recommend taking an ACLS or BLS course through APHE. I just completed the initial ACLS course with Dan Gabel at APHE in Delafield. The course and Dan were fantastic! The course format with short videos followed by the instructor highlighting key points and then leading us through application exercises was great! Dan’s background as a retired fire fighter/paramedic brought real-life scenarios to the experience. He also shared his pearls of wisdom to help us remember things and kept reassuring us that we always have the algorithms for reference rather than relying on our memories for all of the specifics during a code! Finally, he brought in some humor to lighten up our anxieties about the whole experience! Excellent instructor and course all around!Nancy Simons

This was a great learning experience at APHE. Dan is an excellent instructor. He was able to break things down in simpler terms where I could actually connect and understand what was going on. I really struggled with reading EKG strips and now I feel really comfortable with interpreting rhythms. This place has such excellent instructors. I have recently tried going to midstate on advice about my career and academics with the intent of taking classes there but I have only been disappointed. The employees there seem to not care about you or their job. One of which was a counselor who seemed to not listen and not say much of anything other than ok and uh huh. I have never in my life seen such a lazy staff. Mainly aside from doing everything over a computer and turning in homework ONLINE. I struggled with this part massively because im not sorry im used to handing in a paper hard copy directly to someone face to face! The pathways program is a joke beyond human understanding. I love being a student at MSTC at the Marshfield campus. There are only a few students left in my program (CRC) but they never forget about me and they treat me as an equal. My accomplishments make them happy and when I have an issue they do what they can to resolve it or find a solution that fits. I love the online option for classes but I still feel like I'm going to a real school. The instructors online are very personable and make you feel like you stand out! I have listed the Mission, Vision and Core Values for MATC below for everyone's review when considering the type of organization this is. I followed a link for registration (single class) and ended up at the online registration form. I completed the form and paid the $30 fee only to then realize that the registration was for an entire program, not an individual class. I called to ask for a refund of the fee (because it was made in error). I was told by Admissions over the phone that they would not refund the $30 fee AND THAT THIS TYPE OF ERROR HAPPENS ALL THE TIME AND THEY DON'T REFUND FEES PAID IN ERROR!!!! This must be the ethical part listed below in the core values. If this is happening all the time….do you think there might be a problem with your online registration instructions?! It certainly does not seem like MATC follows their own Mission, Vision or Values when dealing with the community. I haven’t even started a class yet but I can tell you that the financial aid team is quit rude and unhelpful. I turned in a application months ago and didn’t find out that my application wasn’t turned in because I needed to verify information until I called about the status of it a month later. It is now a week until class payment deadline and still nothing. I called and the lady was very snooty and said I’ll find out when they contact me and refused to give anymore insight. Wow. UPDATE: I was notified that I was de-registered from my classes because of no payment. Even though when I was previously on the phone with the financial aid office the lady assured me that I would not be dropped from my classes even though it would go past the payment deadline. So I had to re-register for classes(that were luckily not all filled yet), wait on the phone for 25 minutes and talk to another person in the office about my situation. It really just seems like this department takes peoples education as a joke or something. The fact that I’ve sat on the phone over five times now and received different information every time, obviously you guys need to come together and go over how to communicate with the students. Especially for first year students, I have no idea how financial aid works. I had the belief that it would have processed through way before the class payment deadline. I choose IT Support as a career because of my curiosity of technology, it’s something I always been interested in for a long period of time now. I discovered that an IT Support Specialist is needed now a days especially with numerous remote from home jobs and it’s constantly expanding. So technology became a way a life for continuous growth, devolvement and opportunities. I found out that MATC have a good IT program for students that can further your curiosity and experience in the field of technical growth. The program will help me become certificated in certain things related-to in the pursuit of attaining a degree. Certain things I like about the IT program is that you become very knowledgeable in Windows operating system and MacOS. MATC (West Allis) and (Oak Creek) campuses are both a good environment for studying and having hands on experiences.C- Power

Not even learning about construction I came here hoping to learn how to become a construction manager, although so far it feels like the only things I've actually learned anything about are things that mean absolutely zero to me or my career. Out of the 20 classes I've been in so far, my busiest classes have been (by far) Communications, Ethics, Sociology, and Speech. To illustrate, I have finished 56 assignments so far this year in 7 different classes, yet over 64% of my work this year comes from either Ethics or Speech, or more than 4.5X times more than "MEP Systems", "Architectural Building Codes", and "Electronic Drafting" which combine for 14% of my work. I speak in statistics because I honestly cannot even fully process how upset I am with my experience here so far. Not only are the classes completely irrelevant, and not only do they take away massive amounts of time that I could spend learning about construction, but they are extremely politically skewed. Holding republican beliefs seems to not even be an acceptable options for these classes. Just a few examples: – I had to write an essay "explaining" BLM's beliefs. I asked, "What if we disagree on some of their points?" and was told that the assignment was to explain not to critique. – Playing a "game" in which we are shown snippets of articles and need to determine if they are fake or not. I received a 96% on my first try without reading any of the articles because, predictably, almost every single conservative source was obviously fake whereas if I saw CNN, MSNBC, or the like, I knew it was "true" without looking at it. Not only is this incredibly political but massively irresponsible, as in real life, these sources have been proven to be false on many occasions. – Not even kidding – a question on one of my exams was "How many genders are there?" and I marked 2, because that is my belief, and was marked wrong. Like come on man, are you serious? I don't judge people for what they believe or how they act but I truly believe there are 2 genders and it is just absurd that I could be lose credit for thinking this way even if some others might think differently. I even talked to that teacher afterwards about it just to get the "We talked about that in class" answer as if that excuses the fact that it is a matter of religious belief for me. There are more as well, but I think if you've read this far you get point. For anyone considering going to an expensive school to get a degree in communications or personality or whatever, just come here and tell them you're looking to learn about construction. Don't worry, you don't even have to learn anything construction-related.John Keefe

If you are in high school and reading this – Probably okay if you want to become a mechanic, plumber, electrician, or other similar field of work. If your end goal is some form of office job, look elsewhere. 'Hands-on' teaching seems like a benefit until you get into a job and realize that almost none of what you learned applies – this is why education is typically more generalized, because no two companies do things the same way. Furthermore, look past the cost of tuition – if you want the 'college experience' in any capacity, you will not find it here. There is nothing to do on campus besides going to class and going home, so if you are someone that struggles socially, don't expect to make any friends. There are no clubs to speak of, or events worth attending. It is clear that many of the instructors are essentially working on a contract, without significant concern for student outcomes or how their teaching reflects on the school as a whole. There really seems to be two groups here – the people in fields where a 2 year degree is the right choice – the aforementioned mechanics, welders, electricians, etc., and everyone else, to whom it is a second-rate community college for those who had no other options or couldn't afford anything else.D E V I L I S H

18° – technically speaking, too cold to be hiking around a campus! Kidding aside, orientation for DEA – Dual Enrollment Academy – a program that gives high school seniors the opportunity to start a technical program, provided an overview of several technical fields of study and hands on experience. Current students spoke highlighting their programs' attributes in Construction, Tool and Die, Welding, and IT, to name a few. High school students earn high school and college credits during morning classes. Following completion of the program, they can apply the credits to an associates degree. WCTC has agreements with the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, Whitewater, Stout, and other four-year degree institutions to accept credits towards a bachelor's degree.L B

Positive – I had a bittersweet experience at WCTC. As a honor student graduate of the Human Services program, I thought my instructors were excellent on that subject, particularly Lisa Walz. Additionally, my time spent in practicum was eye-opening and informative – as it should be. I thoroughly loved my major and felt teachers that were passionate and experienced in the field gave great real-life advice, especially the aforementioned Lisa Walz, Debra Farrington, Jason Witt, Trisha Wollin, and Carin Anick-Quinones. In addition to my Associate Degree, I also obtained certification in Developmental Disabilities and Youth Care Counseling. These have proven to be helpful transfer credits for my BA and soon towards my MA as well. The campus itself is a pleasant atmosphere for learning and I made some lasting friendships and resourceful contacts along the way. Negative – During my education I was pregnant and I was met with some hostility/prejudice. I had my child at the end of my Fall 15/16 semester and had to come in person to finish my "Math with Apps" exam, while the instructor was excellent in working with me – the person in the library (who I only had met to hand me my exam and did not catch his name) was rude and told me that he didn't think it was right that I be able to finish my course this way. I was just kind of dumb-founded, took my exam, passed with flying colors, and snuggled up with my babies. There was also another instructor, Dr. Mike Melnick who did not allow me to leave his class to use the restroom despite being as pregnant as I was. He felt it was unfair to the other students. There was one incident at the end of the semester where I was sick (and still pregnant) and he had no tissues in his classroom. He would not let me leave and instead gave me a cloth that looked eerily similar to a breastfeeding cloth to wipe my nose with.Meg Goodlad

Long story short. I was dropped off at the college center (the front building of the campus) and the 2 students who I waved at, to ask directions to the ‘S’ building deliberately started walking fast et and turned the corner. I ran into a janitor that gave me directions to the ‘S’ building with no issues I walk in to the ‘S’ building at 7:01pm And asked a group of woman where the victim impact panel program was being held and they pointed to a door. I knock on the door after checking and noticing they were all locked. (7:03 on the clock) An old white man late 70’s sitting down facing the door just shook his head at me. Then an older lady about the same age came to the door and told me to leave. I pleaded with her and told her I don’t have a car and nobody gave me directions when I got here She just refused to listen to me and shut the door in my face in the whole I was talking. I was 3 mins late and they wouldn’t let me in a program I paid to be into. And I was 3 minutes late. By the Ik when someone is acting different cause the color Of my skin. I have been happy with WCTC as a student. WCTC has a surprisingly diverse student body. I really enjoy being able to take classes online. I was worried about the accelerated schedule for my program but it has been great. Canvas is straightforward and easy to use. I have yet to meet an instructor who is not invested in my success. The campus is easy to navigate and offers nice student amenities. The college also offers resume writing assistance, free healthcare services, plenty of internship opportunities with local employers, and transfer agreements with great four year schools. Some downsides are some class schedules are not released until the week the class starts. I have not been able to get help with an updated plan for scheduling classes at all beyond my original plan. You will receive an annoying amount of spam/phishing emails and fake job offers. I regret not going back to school sooner! I hope this review helps.Christopher K

I would rate the facility a 5 if I didn't get attitude from the same girl in Student Express. She's a young beast that needs to take a customer service class. She just belittles you and talks down to you like you're an idiot and wasting her time. So when looking at the counter avoid going to the one to the far right. She's young, looks like black long hair, and doesn't know how to smile. I got her 2 days in a row. Today I apologized to the lady who actually got out of her chair and spent the time helping me and let her know my comments were not directed towards her. I was having problems viewing everything. I'm a visual person to. Good luck and wait for the next person available! I would stick with the blonde lady all the way to the left. She's always pleasant! There's another young girl who seems very nice. Nyla (financial aid) and Kevin (guidance counselor) are amazing too! They are pleasant to speak with and give great info.Sarah Petersen

I dreamed for years of being able to go to school, and now I am. I thought this was going to be the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. (Especially since I'm extremely technology challenged) but the people at gateway is not only made it easy for me to sign up and raise the funding, football also help me overcome my technical disadvantages I've learned more in 2 weeks about computers then I've learned in the last year. Is a truly fascinating place. And the faculty are some incredible people. Personally and even though it may be against the law, I thank God everyday for them.Jeffrey Jackson

I got an Associate's here. It was a great college. It was my choice, but I took longer than I originally expected. I moved further away part-way through my degree. So, I was happy to have good options for online courses.Henry Feyen
