Solid school. Easy(ish) to navigate. Some of the buildings are far apart and depending on your classes you might have only 10 minutes to go all the way across campus. The staff is friendly and try to help anyone navigate the school, so don't worry! Each building is clearly labeled and maps are everywhere so it's hard to get lost. There's tons of socializing areas and seating for different gatherings. Some of the popular places would be the courtyard with the fountains or the large hill in the center of campus. The campus also has a variety of food options, so whether you want smoothies, coffee, pizza, pastries or a salad there are options all around!Zena Krimzon

They have no idea how to teach what you will need in the state of Kansas. They will use other professors lectures and do not want to answer questions or teach you. So yeah if you want to teach yourself from a book and have a bunch of assignments due constantly this is the place for you. You will find yourself googling topics and watching YouTube videos to learn it. Multiple (at least 3 that I know of) people in my class complained to the chair.C

I am taking a welding certificate so I can work in the welding workforce. I want to work for the olathe railroad welding force after college. Then maybe do some underwater welding I have not quite decided. If I do I have to take a scubadiving class to get certified in that. After that I have to take a underwater course to get certified to do underwater welding but it will take me a while to doKelle Boehmer

It's hit or miss with the staff. I'm transferring about 60 credits in from elsewhere and just needed residential credits to graduate. I've been trying to get a degree audit since I started in March. I took 6 credits in the spring, am taking 3 now and 6 more in the fall. I can't get an answer as to whether I'm in need of any credits in any areas to graduate. I never had this problem at any school. When I asked for an audit, they told me, "You just completed your first semester with us. Transfer credits are posted after the students complete a semester with us. Look for those to show this Summer or next Fall." I already completed a semester. I'm on my last 2 classes. This should've been done by now. This is how people waste thousands of dollars on classes they don't need while still coming up short for their program. It's a bad policy, and they shouldn't do that. Update: I'm about 3 weeks from graduating. Taking classes on campus rather than online makes a huge difference in satisfaction levels. I'm changing my star rating because the teachers are pretty good. I'm still a little annoyed with how unresponsive the staff was while trying to get info together for my last semester of college, but it worked out. Three more weeks of class, and I'm blowing this popsicle stand. The school is what you pay for. Some things could definitely use some improvement. I had to pull out of my fifth class, which I didn't sign up for, 2 days too late to get a refund. I wasn't even aware that I was in it till I saw an email about late assignments. I paid the amount they requested after they said it was my fault, at which point they sent me a check for that same amount and then told me that I owed it to them again. It just seems to me as if the entire process is just overcomplicated. I was furious when they signed me up for a class without informing me. I got over it, but when your going to school with a GI bill you don't have the luxury to go back and forth with classes like that. I had explicitly told them that with work, school, and family I couldn't manage more than 4. My experience with the school other than that instance has been well. The instructors have been great and the classes have been educational. The buildings themselves are "rustic" but the staff works within those confines to create the best experience possible.Timothy Taylor

I went to this school after leaving from my four year college just to save my income and somehow, this school did helped me succeed easier after getting my Associate's Degree in Computer Engineering! Both main campus and the technical education center campus are welcoming regardless of what field you're studying for. Whether you prefer day courses, online courses, or night courses, the time and budget will be worth your time as long as you maintain things properly. I enjoyed the learning experience I had at CPR Kansas City. We worked through various clinical scenarios and we were evaluated to improve our hands on skills in CPR and airway improvement. The teachers of the class utilize these skills as EMTs on a daily basis so you can trust their suggestions based on real world experience. I took the CPR and First Aid classes. Joe, the instructor for both, was AMAZING. He was so knowledgeable and kept things fun! Also, the equipment we used was FANTASTIC. It helped my learning CPR so much to be able to physically practice the moves and have the digital feedback as I did things. I feel totally confident in the skills that I learned! This is a horrid school for computer science and they do not care about the students' education at all. The professors here seem to be horribly unorganized. They seem to bounce around with who will be teaching you within the same semester, leaving you with a mess of grading expectations and teaching lectures. The grading is done sporadically. In fact, in my current programming class for the spring semester, I have not received a single grade. It is beyond me how you are expected to improve if you have no idea how well you are actually doing on any of the material. Classes can be taught by legitimate students, something I have never had happen before (I am a transfer student). I would not mind this as much if they were at least knowledgeable about the topic they are teaching or able to convey the lessons in a decent way, but they cannot. Referring back to my programming class, I am completely convinced this school hired someone who is not only completely unqualified to do this but does not actually know the programming language this individual is assigned to teach. In addition to being a student, this individual is never prepared, has yet to write a functioning program without the students walking him through what to do, and will "cover" a topic for about 15 minutes. I could go on, but I feel like what's been explained here is enough. Every CS course I have taken at this school except one has been like this. I have complained to this school's administration about my concerns with the professors and the department to be met with essentially a shrug. If you are going for a CS degree, pass this place up. You will most certainly receive a sub-par education and poor teachers. If your looking for a clean,respected and open school look no further. The staff here are amazing people who I know personally work hard everyday to help those they teach. They make sure you understand the criteria. Too many schools out there are like education mills where the mentality is ship them in and ship them out but not here. Here you will find teachers who do it for way more than just pay. Here you will find educational heroes who are leading examples of what it means to be a teacher. Also I must give a shout out to the janitorial employees as well for keeping amazingly clean grounds as well as rooms too. Also management or principals and dentention officers here also deserve a shout out as well so overall five ⭐'s and a must attend if in the need for this type of serviceBelieveInYourself AndIfYouFailTryAgain

MONEY is the only incentive at this college. I tried & tried to hope but no matter who you deal with, they are on the offensive on simple questions like how can you charge housing for a student not enrolled🤣. Seriously Crazy Experience at Every Turn. Love MO, but in my opinion that’s the worst college I’ve ever dealt with & as a dad of 3 I have dealt w/ plenty. Believe me they aren’t all this difficult & void of personality, cooperation, and communication:). Most places make taking thousands of dollars from you easy but even when you go to just be rid of them it’s somehow hard to even get them to take the money. This review is from an experience my wife and I had nearly 1.5 years ago, but I am just now getting around to it after reading about similar practices from a book called 'An American Sickness' by Elizabeth Rosenthal… My wife and I had a baby in Oct of 2017, and a week later we had a scary experience that resulted in my wife hemorrhaging and bleeding so I called 911 for support. Long story short, I decided to just put my wife in my car and drive her myself to a hospital that we live less than 1 minute from. I realized after calming myself down that this made more sense than waiting for an ambulance. I could get to the hospital faster. The 911 dispatcher still went through and sent an ambulance, who showed up as I was loading my wife and newborn baby in my personal vehicle. Long story short, the paramedics enticed me to get in the ambulance and claimed I would not be responsible for any payment from the ambulance ride. With a newborn baby in my hands, a wife that was actively bleeding and my judgement clouded, I took their word for it and allowed them to drive my wife to the hospital. Several months later we were charged over $500 ($529 to be exact) for the ambulance ride that I clearly could have swopped my own vehicle for free of charge. My wife says that looking back, she should have known that an ambulance could not have provided any additional support in the 8 min drive that I couldn't handle. She was still coherent, she was bleeding, yes – but she was stable (She is a nurse by trade). Short of it is, she knew better than what she decided in the moment. The paramedics preyed on the fact that we were in a situation where they could take advantage of our decision-making and made empty promises of how the ride is free and the care she will receive is better than what I could have provided myself. While I agree that the care is better with them because they are trained in this typical environment, they had ABSOLUTELY NO RIGHT to state that the ride would be free just to get us in the vehicle and charge us an absolutely over-priced ride several months later. They count on people (in the moment) on putting their loved ones risk of disaster as a good, clear basis for manipulating the overall decisions. It is pathetic, and this type of service is absolutely irritating. To the paramedics who made that statement to my wife and I: I don't know if you are trained to say that, or if you are so blinded by reality that you truly don't think about the financial cost of your patients – either way, educate yourself so you don't come across as money-hungry liars who prey on the "emergencies" of your clients. Feel free to reply to this and I am happy to meet in person to explain what went wrong from a "business standpoint." You may have pulled a fast one on me, but I assure you, after reading that book – I am going to address healthcare matters in a different light from here on out. I hope you take a look inside your company and change the way you do things. I bet the news would love to hear a story like this.Michael Pyle

I attended the four week course and ABSOLUTELY loved it! I wished it was longer only because it was such an engaging experience, learning from such a passionate and dedicated group of firefighters and/or paramedics from various municipalities. Every single one of them, including Kelly (Academy Owner) was there to help in any way they could. I often stayed after class each day to spend some extra time asking questions or gaining insight into different aspects of being in EMS and the instructors were always happy to stay and offer their support and guidance. The instructors were not only extremely knowledgeable but also very passionate about what they do and it carried over into their ability to efrectively teach their students. Further, they did not just want us to make it through the program and pass our NREMT exams, but genuinely spent every minute trying to mold us into quality EMTs, ready for a new and successful career. Unfortunately, my class was unable to complete clinical hours due to covid (Kelly tried really hard to make it happen for us), but the clinical sites would not approve EMT students (from any school). To make up for the lost clinical hours, Kelly and the instructors created an extra day for us to experience mock EMS scenarios. These guys came in on their day off, some fresh off of a 48 hour shift, to make sure we were not cut short and did everything they could to ensure we left the program feeling confident. That is dedication! I cannot say enough good things about this program. Thank you Kelly and all of the instructors so very much! (BTW: Myself and all students who signed up for the exam… passed their practical skills test for the national registry the day after the course ended. I enrolled in one of the 4-week courses and have nothing but praise for this program. Our instructors were all extremely knowledgeable about everything EMS and prepared myself and my classmates extremely well for our national exams. The class was challenging, but completely fair and set me up for success as I continued onward. I was nervous about how quickly the 4-weeks would go by at first, but the schedule was set up in a way to give us ample time to both learn the material and get plenty of practice on the skills and assessments we needed to learn. Unfortunately, I had to wait a few weeks before being able to take my first national exam after completing the course, however Kelly and our instructors went above and beyond by allowing us to come in and continue practicing during the time in-between the course and testing, to ensure we all succeeded. This is an amazing program with amazing people that I would recommend to anyone interested in EMS!Zach Zappa

Best EMT academy ever! All instructors have extensive experience and are knowledgable and provide us with the instructions and guidance to go above and beyond. Administration is exceptional as well, the administrator is here every class and does a brilliant job of organizing lecture schedules, clinical rotations at the ER and fire department, providing us with an organized binder on the first day of class, and returning our exam in a VERY timely manner; the best admin ever. I absolutely loved my experience at MCC-Blue River! What you put into your education and experience is what you will get out of it. I made sure to stay in regular communication with my Academic Advisor so I could graduate on time and had no problems transferring to the University of Central Missouri. Most importantly, classes are very affordable and I graduated debt free! By the way, MCC-Blue River is the best of the five MCC campuses in the KC metro area! Don’t let the location fool you. A small campus means better customer service. Oh, did I mention MCC is affordable?! I graduated debt free because the classes are so much lower than any college around! For a community college this is a reputable school. Very student based, but almost to the point of a large high school, with less rules. Have never had an issue with staff, you like some, you wish you had better sometimes but it was always personable. Not the college experience that some people may want at a university but if you just wanna knock out your credits and get the education, this is the place for to go.Connor Boisen

MCC sent my check back saying since we couldn't pay in full or had not set up a specific payment plan through them that they would not accept it. The person I was making a payment for isn't even enrolled with them anymore. I was trying to help her get it paid sooner so if she choose to go back to school there she could. Very disappointing experience at the enrollment centers. Ive been to the Blue River and the Penn Valley campus and the academic advisors do not live up to their titles. I'm trying to go back to school to better my situation, I havent been in a school setting in over 8 years I need direction and guidance and I was treated like I should know how the class schedules work and how to get myself enrolled. I was mislead on the prerequisites for the program I was interested in. I was given the run around going from person to person when I even selected that I was there to meet with an advisor right from the moment i signed in. College is intimitading and even more so when you're going back after so many years of being out of the game. Have some patience and compassion. To you advisors, you do this everyday its second nature but you have to remember its someone else's very first time and we are all lost on our first day. I do have to praise Penn Valley for a situation that had occurred with one of my classes. The instructor we initially had showed up hungover the first two days of class (almost reminded me of Jack Black in School of Rock). He bragged about how he was a veterinarian and held a doctorate and just his overall attitude was more of a washed up rockstar than a doctor. Thankfully, Penn Valley handled this situation quickly and fired this guy and hired a pediatrician, who was a fantastic teacher and seemed to care about his students’ success. I’ve had several other fantastic teachers here, as well. The campus is easy to navigate and, for the most part, very clean and near Westport, so it is easy to find something to do if you have a long period between classes.Kimberly H

The staff works hard to get "the ball rolling," but I'm afraid a lot of the students come to school expecting zero hoops to jump through. Students need to realize that there is so much that needs to be done to prepare for THEIR OWN education and getting frustrated for our lack of preparation as students does not mean that frustrations need to be directed toward the staff. Most loans are Governmental and if you have never dealt with the Government on ANYTHING – you are in for a rude awakening. Kinda funny when a kid wants to come to the career center you push him around and tell him no he can't drive, especially when there are kids in his class who just came to get out of school. On top of that I work a full time job and you guys tell them they cant drive even though I drive to my job every day of the week. My kid can't drive one time. How disrespectful. I had a fantastic experience with AMR today. I would like to say a Big thank you too Peter & Rachel, who got me to KU hospital by stretcher, from Grandview MO.. They were both very Careful, Considerate, Polite, Professional etc., of every one of my needs. The ride going down there was very smooth and the transferring from my air mattress to the stretcher went also very smooth. They were able to both stay at the hospital till my Specialist appt was over. They also kepte me company while I was just waiting on the Specialist , by lending me their ears 👂🤣‼😊 !! Last night life flight took my 2 rear old grandson from Harrisonville to Children's Mercy in KCMO. They were awesome and so very professional.
