First and foremost, Norwalk Community College was the first two-year college known since 1960, and they have been serving and assisting students in achieving the school readiness you have always desired but if you have struggled at some point. NCC will assist you in overcoming your obstacles to the point where you feel smart, confident, and accomplished. This college is my top choice because it is affordable, not overcrowded, has a super clean and safe building, and has no historically known hate crime in the area, which is an A+ in today's environment. There is plenty of parking, as well as the best tutoring center, which is a lifeline for students who want to improve their grades or need assistance with the curriculum. NCC carry the highest standard. They have the best tutoring service and professors who are committed to assisting students. All you have to do if you need help navigating any area at NCC is ask. It's a good starting school but extremely disorganized with idiots for employees. Dr Apple or apfel is a complete and total moron. She is so ungodly useless. She is extremely disorganized no wonder all of the students hate her. She wouldn't shake our hands because she said that's how germs are spread. Get rid of this delusional troll! She made an appointment for 12 and then when we got there said it was for 4pm. Um hello!? This school is so DISORGANIZED. If you're willing to put up with complete chaos for two years then go here. Either believe the previous reviews of 'smelling like poverty and cigarettes', or understand that community college is the last place to find a living, breathing example of the American Dream. On top of that, NCC is the most well-funded community college, the most prestigious, and has the highest share of incredible professors than any other community college in the region. But it won't motivate you to succeed. You have to do that yourself. And if you do not find that drive within yourself in time, do not blame the college for your shortcomings. This is a really good school if you’re all about your academics. I’ve had my good times and my bad times here at MCC. Overall on the academic side of MCC I appreciate all of the hard work that most of my professors have done. There are professors here that definitely need to be more qualified with what they are teaching as it has affected my grades when I’ve taken their courses. I am an Honor student here at MCC with a GPA of 3.30 and have never once had an issue with organization skills until my 2019 spring semester. A couple of the professors have been unorganized, no syllabus and sometimes they have other priorities when they have to teach a class in other words they put another professor in place when they have to go to another job. Although these were a couple of issues within my time here at MCC I enjoyed the experience of learning new knowledge for my future career. I really liked a lot of my professors but a couple of them have been a little rough. If you communicate with your professors about your issues that you’re having it really helps and shows that you’re determined to do your work and it shows you care about your work as well. Environment wise I’d have to say it’s not healthy (mentally/physically) and or good for many people. There have been students who have left garbage all over the place and don’t clean up after themselves which leads to maintenance having to clean it all up. With my time here I have helped maintenance clean up other people’s messes so they don’t have to worry about it as much. Also the amount of vaping, drug use, and underage drinking in the lounge is unacceptable and nothing has been done to take care of this issue except shutting the lounge down. I feel as if this does nothing but illustrates that they can go elsewhere within the college and do these things. An authority figure should really take this into consideration and do something about this because it affects others who have nothing to do with these people and it ruins people’s Health. You can smell weed from a mile away and if people have asthma or a health condition this could affect them physically. I do not appreciate this at all and I wish something was done about it. The other big issue environmentally is the fact that the main cafeteria can get very loud and some students have no manners and do not respect others around them. If they are asked to quiet down they do the opposite It has gotten to the point where a lot of people have complained and yet nothing is done to prevent this from happening again. The college needs to have some control over what students do and take action on these issues. I wish that there could be some changes here and I hope for the best for everyone at MCC. Overall it is a good school for your academics but is definitely not a mentally healthy place environmentally. Even if you try to get away and go somewhere else for privacy somehow drama follows behind you. A Tip would be after your classes go home if you can or go to the back of the library in the quiet study room. So I will start with sharing my positive highlights of the fall semester during covid. Some teachers were empathetic to the situation the entire nation went through. Prof. Muldoon did such an amazing job touching base and gaining clarity of students frustration and technical difficulties during this time. Prof Diane. Hillyer OMG if I were ever to be a college professor I’d want to have her passion and dedication. She’s a math angel, truly loves her job and her videos were perfect! Now chemistry online and labs online were a joke!!! The professor did not make enough office hours, used YouTube videos from other teachers, used repetitive templates for each week lesson with no data. If I wanted to learn chemistry that way I could’ve honestly gone on Edx.org for FREE and probably have learned the curriculum better. I might of missed 1 assignment and handed in 1 assignment 10 mins late and didn’t receive the grade or support needed. But unfortunately as a paying student I just have to deal with it, 2k down the drain! Funny thing I am also a teacher during covid and actually work in the building with student and never would I have ever made my students feel isolated like this professor did. I’ve never seen or heard my chemistry teachers voice but I’m pretty sure they got paid every two weeks while there’s probably many qualified teachers that could have done a way better job. I was warned about this professor but I learned the hard way. The school overall has a nice faculty and I feel like the majority do care. This is unfortunate when professor get so accustomed to a repetitive lifestyle because blackboard actually graded my exams so again not sure what some professor did during Covid behind the scene and so-called virtual teaching. This is a a good school to start or to get the credits needed for a post-Bach. I decided to go to a private school with a more dedicated team and more virtual teaching experience.Dignora Castillo

I was a potential international student and found Manchester Community College a great place to go. I called the first time and wasn’t able to talk to the responsible for international students but left my phone number and email. Umesh sent me an email saying he would give me a call. He did, two days later and was rude and impatient since the moment I picked up the phone and was acting like he was doing me a favor to call me. He said I should go back to my country and take my visa there instead of changing my status here, which is not up to him, was questioning how I was gonna become a student and more. I can’t even explain how rude and disrespectful he was to me who was just trying to make an appointment to go to the campus and get more informations in person about fees and the I20. I first came to Goodwin for a Manufacturing Career Fair on August 2014. My plan going in was to improve/expand my professional network but after introducing myself to the two ladies at the front door, I was escorted to the admissions office. During this impromptu meeting I learned of their range of Manufacturing programs ranging from a Collegiate Certificate to Bachelor's Degrees. The lady I met with was very nice so I decided to let her run through her whole pitch before refusing. After she finished running through her speech I was about to politely decline when my eyes fell upon a pamphlet detailing their Certificate in CNC Machining. My attitude switched from polite dismissal to serious consideration. By the time the holiday season was in force, I had officially enrolled. From the Spring 2015 – Fall 2016 semesters, I experienced the most fulfilling education of my life. Classes tailored to my major were taught by professors with real-life experience in the manufacturing field. Knowledge gained from operating machines in the school's shop helped me secure my first manufacturing based job (which at the time of this review, I have been at for over a year). Around two weeks ago I walked in the 2017 Commencement with my CNC Certificate AND Associate's Degree (Summa Cum Laude!!!). Making the choice to again become a student with Goodwin College is one I do not regret, in spite of my now increased loan debt. Looking for a quality education with real life application? I graduated in 2006 with a General Business Degree the Staff and Faculty were all very helpful and on top of their jobs. I signed back for classes in 2013 for my Bachelor's Degree in Business unfortunately the staff and faculty changed in a Very Negative way. I had Mr. Rotondo as my Advisor who had me taking classes that i had previously taken also the Black Board Online classes system kept going down I another class were i completed the work on time but their system did not register my work it had been idled for 36 or more hours and never registered my work causing me a NS for the class this caused a snowball affect to the downfall of me no longer attending classes. I talked with Professor Valeria he advised i write some sort of letter which i did explaining the double classes Mr. Rotondo had me take due to him not paying attention to my previous classes for He was my teacher in 2004-2006. I wrote the letter and i have not heard Anything back from Goodwin They just cost my family Time and Money.Callie Faison

So far I love the complex, the professor are really nice and helpful. They want you to pass the class for sure. The only thing I can complain is for the service of Financial Aid. I am a transfer from Lincoln College and when I was about to change they explain me that it would be cheaper or about the same. Before classes start I went to Financial Aid to see how much it was going to cost me, but they didn't have any information of me yet. Then I received a message saying "to not go to financial aid" I could start right away. I went again the day before start and they couldn't tell me anything. They charge already for the semester, it shown in my credit report, this is my third week of class and I do not even know if is the same as Lincoln, more expensive or less.Christian Diaz

Did my CPR recertification through Roberge EMS. The class was offered outside of work hours and I was given a list of courses far in advance to allow me to plan. The facility was clean and the atmosphere was laid back however the training was thorough and concise. Mike is a great instructor who doesn't harp on people for small mistakes but clarifies and provides an explanation. His ability to be relatable is refreshing and makes for a great course. It is awesome to see instructors like Mike take up the training torch and I highly recommend using Roberge EMS for all of your training needs. As a Registered Nurse I have taken many BLS courses and this was by far the BEST one. Not only is it interactive and you get your own dummy to practice on without having to share, the instructor Michael creates an atmosphere that is conducive to learning and makes you feel comfortable. Michael is an incredible instructor and is very accommodating in his scheduling. I HIGHLY recommend Michael’s course to anyone looking for a BLS class. Excellent experience every time! This is my second time re-certifying with Code One and it's always a very smooth experience. The online portion is great, and most of all the instructors are very knowledgeable. I had Dr. Santina as my skills instructor this time around for both BLS and ACLS. She was very articulate, encouraging, and knowledgeable about everything she was teaching me, and even taught me something I didn't know about the cons of using atropine for bradycardia! The setup is very convenient and it’s done well especially with COVID precautions. The process of certification was very straight forward with the practice dummies and the virtual call. I had Jonathan as the person certifying me, and he was fantastic! He answered any questions that came up and gave good advice for real-world scenarios. Mediocre staff, but the course was exhausting and very boring. When you start the program you get to meet the owner for the first day, and pretty much after that he is gone or in his office for an hour or two. That will most likely be the only time you'll ever see him. The instructor was also dull, with a slight dark humor. Sitting in one place for 8 hours long hearing someone talk with a monotone voice and with no fun explanations or examples was not gratifying. During the program two fellow classmates dropped the course. I am not sure for what exact reasons but that must mean something. Overall wasn't the best experience and I felt unprepared for the final test. Near the end of the course you'll have to take the computerized test amongst completing six medical stations which include your medical assessment, trauma assessment, airway, cardiac arrest management, and etc you get the point. After successful completion you'll have to do the six stations again with state officials. After that you'll have to take the NREMT exam which is a national exam. This test is much harder then the first. I feel that this program did not prepare me very well for these tests. Considering you have to pay $1500 including the book and your stethoscope. Maybe there is a better place for your EMT endeavors. In other words maybe because being an EMT wasn't for me.Daniel

I decided to take the 4 week online, on-demand course because it was the only fast paced online course near me. I found the instructors and staff to be knowledgeable and personable. They were also flexible. I live 100 miles away from the school and they were able to work with me to make clinical time and ride along time work. I think this type of course works well if you have the time to dedicate to the coursework. I was able to pass the national registry written exam with very little trouble. I would recommend this course to anyone who is interested in a rapid sequence course and has the time to dedicate to completing the course.John Paul Horn

Awesome experience. Top notch. I completed the 4 week online EMT course right in the midst of the pandemic – ALL of the staff were wonderful and I always felt safe during in-person skills classes. They truly teach the material for you to learn it instead of just regurgitate it at test time. (That being said, they’re also great at teaching you EXACTLY what you need to do to be successful in the state practical). This institute has flexible class times to work with almost anyone’s schedule. It also has an amazing staff and instructors who seek to ensure you completely understand both the curriculum and lab skills. I took the phlebotomy program, and I have zero complaints. Monica is amazing; She labors closely with you, so you have a solid comprehension of the steps, techniques and procedures to execute a successful venipuncture for each patient. You have plenty of hands-on time as well in the lab with your classmates and volunteers, which will give you the competency necessary to work in a medical setting. By far the worst school I have ever gone to. They train you enough to pass the national registry but not enough to ever find a job in the different fields. The EMT instructor is sexist and rude, doesn’t help students learn, and isn’t understanding to the needs of students. The director is sarcastic and the company in general is only in it for the money. Not a single person that I know who has taken phlebotomy or EKG has ever found a job due to requirements in the area. When asked for more training they ignore you and tell you that you need to pay even more money for the extra training.Chris Attakk

The phlebotomy program through American Professional Educational Services was phenomenal. The classroom information was presented professionally and accurately without any gaps in content. The instructor was incredibly knowledgeable and relatable. Ample lab time was provided for maximum hands-on skills learning. I was more than prepared for the national exam and was able to secure a job in the phlebotomy field without a delay. I highly recommend APES programs and certification classes.Debra Gosselin

I could write a book about what colleges do wrong. But I'll save you my whining and talk shop instead— this is a pretty decent and friendly place. There are many passionate, cool and effective teachers who love teaching and their students, even when the system doesn't love either of them. Online classes are a joke and suffer from "old people cannot use technology" disease, making it very easy for cheaters to prosper. They even heavily discourage you from even helping them fix the cheats, when they're absolutely instrumental for your success when the class is taught badly. I highly recommend you take history this way. Teachers for these classes usually rip tests off of specific websites, so… fair's fair, right? It's a shame, too. I love history. I just hate rout memorization. Please just remove history as a class and suggest history resources instead. This isn't suggestion to the college, but to the entire national board who decides what knowledge is or isn't cool. Please please please just make the system better and stop overcomplicating things. You're out of touch, please hand the keys to someone wiser if you can't do it yourself. Anyway, advisors are innocent to the perils of college sequencing. They will tell you to follow your dream, no matter the cost. Whatever you want to do, they will promise you the world. But this is a siren's song. They will not inform you of the logistics which may make you reasonably doubt your path. When I cited money as a reason I went to community college instead of a full four-year university, the admissions person chuckled and said that they got that a lot, in a really clueless way, as if she didn't know why. Yeah, expect that kind of attitude a lot. It's refreshing but dangerous. And what happens when you go to that four year university, end up in a little debt and don't have the life you thought you were building in college? Well… too bad, sucker. We thought you knew enough about what you were doing. Don't blame us for life's rough patches. Don't blame us for not teaching you your internal biases and character flaws and imperfections in how you see the world. Blame yourself. It's not our job to teach you that. Problem is, though, no one teaches that. Highschool sure doesn't. Where do people learn that? I had to teach myself, but not everyone can. Ironically, I'm not speaking from experience. It's just something I've seen happen to too many people, and I think it's disgusting that the system isn't more realistic and helpful from a lifestyle perspective. But, some people would say I'm just being cynical. I sure hope so. 'Cause the way I see it, people's hope in the system is selfish naivete. But, I'm being too dreamy. Clueless advisors, reps and faculty members that don't know how to respond to emails or answer phones. Their 2 year degrees take more than two years because they advise you poorly on scheduling classes. This school tried dropping surprise tuition charges on my account and they tried negating my financial aid because their financial aid rules on the website are vague or they contradict their own rules and the CSCU rules for the whole state. If you send an appeal expect to be waiting weeks on end while playing phone tag or getting no answer, only for your appeal to be denied anyway. Now they've outsourced their admissions phone line to a call center, so I imagine it's only gotten worse. Also, they offer no meal plans and the food is overpriced. Save your money and effort and study somewhere else if you can.A Account

The Electrical Engineering Technology program is ABET accredited, so that's nice. You'll find that most professors are great here. Only had maybe 1 or 2 that weren't that good. I will say that the financial aid office is not very helpful. Seems that whenever I call, somehow no one knows how to help me. I called once for information on getting leftover grant money moved to another semester, as I had done in a previous semester. According to who I talked to, they've never done that… OK. So I asked about paying it out… She said they'd send a check. Well, its been 5 months… Wheres my $8?! I recommend not calling the financial aid office about financial aid… That said, everything else is great and I'd recommend this to anyone looking for an Associates Degree.Cullen Perreault

Have to agree with some of the viewpoints here… On one hand Capital is a college to go to if your just starting out. On the other hand it looks like the college has changed not externally but within. A lot of students coming in now unfortunately are goof-off types that don't want to study, are a bit too *young* in maturity to be at school or are the obnoxious type. When I first came to this school Capital was fine, I was a new student exploring new options and met a few interesting people along the way. Unfortunately, the more classes I took, I ended up running into some cruddy learning environments along the way. If your serious about your college career try to stay away from the early morning classes where all the goof-offs or super young people go with no parental supervision go. Last semester I had the unfortunate experience of having just one student in an English class almost turn it upside down. This chick literally almost took over the entire class environment with 3 or 4 more people that she knew. They sat off in a corner while the other students sat on one side of the room. All the girl ever did was complain about work, make comments about other students, and groan about a baby. This is not the learning environment I want to be in with people too lazy to apply themselves yet have enough energy to be annoying while we're paying for courses. I realize later unfortunately it was just one of 'those' from the local area filling up a slot. These colleges need to start filtering people out like before. It's starting to turn into a lazy-like atmosphere with goof-offs filling up slots where working students could have been. The second is that although the college is international there is some issue here. May be good for international students but not so much for American/Local students who are trying to learn from thick accents. Some courses are so in-depth that the accent makes it a little trickier but not impossible. The third is yea, the high-school like environment. Personally I'd prefer to be around people my own age-group than getting stuck in courses with a bunch of 15 year olds fartin up on a class. There's no place to hang really and outside the college there's a lovely selection of crack-head looking guys and thug-me-be dudes hanging out in the street that got nothing else to do. It's no wonder why people walk in groups around here and for good reason. The college isn't too bad per-say, but the location and some of the local 'inhabitants' is nothing to blink at. I've been at this college for 2 years now and there's so many programs and opportunities that, for some reason, this college doesn't have that the other colleges apparently do or is not getting them out enough.Bettsie Johnson

I received my Associate's Degree from Capital Community College and then went on to get my Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Connecticut. My experience at Capital C.C. was phenomenal. The professors were outstanding by being extremely knowledgeable, understanding, and accessible. The facilities were clean and modern. Everything about the school was wonderful. One of the school's attributes which set it apart from most other community colleges and universities is the accessibility to the professors and administration. At other school, it can be very difficult to get academic counseling. Some of the obstacles are that: You have to have an appointment scheduled OR You can only see academic counselors during a certain time of the semester. At Capital Community College – academic counselors are available anytime between like 8:00a – 4:00p (Monday – Friday). No appointment needed. It is amazing! The phlebotomy program was the most disappointing college program I’ve ever done. I only picked this college because the class schedule worked with my full-time work schedule. The hybrid class was just recorded lectures from the previous classes. And the clinicals were a joke. We had to practice on each other. The class advertised that the labs were going to be twice a week, but were changed to once a week. And the class had over the accommodating amount of people. We didn’t have enough time to practice. And it was SUPER RUSHED and UNPRESSIONAL. Like I said, complete joke. If you are serious about practicing phlebotomy, I do not recommend. Don’t waste your time or money.MMV_

The only thing good about this place is the teachers and Subway. Really great teachers. Aside breakfast the food at the commons is very terrible. It's just burgers everywhere. If you want to eat good food all your money is going to be done ordering food. Tuition and housing fee increase every year. The dorms are a mess. You'll tell them you want single room and even pay the extra for it yet they don't give you a single room. They'll even give you a roommate that's everything you said you don't want in the roommate alliance form. You'd have to continuously call and email to eventually get your single room.N'gadie Koroma

A nice school to attend. Good education, and a fairly scenic campus. Be sure to look for the resident geese and hawks. Close to area amenities, with a pretty vibrant student life. This is the only university in the US to have a river bisect the campus. It is a very pleasant river to watch from one of the three bridge crossings. A big, brand new building just opened up (Fall '21) which is very interesting and sure to spark conversations.Mr. E.

There are so many different areas that feel absolutely useless. Having a problem is a like having cancer at this school. it’s so hard to get dealt with because everytime you contact anyone with authority. they really have no idea what they’re talking about. No sense of urgency or safety for students. Teachers have been atrocious, paying little to what students need and often not caring about how their students are actually doing.josh

I just graduated from Chanda’s EMT Program and am so grateful that I chose her school over attending any other. She was highly recommended to me by a friend who was extremely successful in retaining the knowledge she brought to his class. Chanda keeps each student accountable and honest. She presents an edgy, yet warm and welcoming class to where I felt everyone understood that they had an equal opportunity to contribute and be a part of her collective team. If you know kindness, you know Chanda. I am extremely impressed with her knowledge of the medical field from her personal experiences with real world cases. If I could retake this course I absolutely would! If you truly want to understand how the human body functions and how to be of service to individuals in need when treatment is required, I would highly recommend you enter her training. As I write this I feel more than confident that if something went wrong with a family member, friend or neighbor at this moment whether it is trauma or a medical issue, that I am more than confident in being able to apply what Chanda has taught me. This EMT course was absolutely amazing.  Before it started, I was very concerned that I might not be able to learn the amount of material that was necessary to successfully complete the program. However, from the first day, Chanda did an incredible job explaining it and making every effort to make sure we understood the material. She made herself available for any questions and took additional time out of her busy schedule to hold optional lab classes. If you study and prepare for every class and every test, you will get though it. I had a wonderful experience in Chanda’s EMT course. After graduating I feel like I am prepared to work in the field right now. Chanda is an amazing resource for the students. She challenges all students to do their best work and prepares all students to work hard. She has not only taught me about being an EMT, but has made me hold myself to a higher standard than I thought I could. I am very grateful for completing her class, and for meeting her and the fellow students I graduated with. This school is BY FAR, one of the BEST I have ever attended. Some time ago, I was looking to get my Paramedic. Due to my job, the traditional "Brick & Mortar" style schooling wasnt going to work for me. I searched high and low for courses that offered an online learning platform. I stumbled across one to two more in my searches. Here is what I based my criteria on: Cost, flexibility, bang for my buck, pass rate (which no one holds a candle to), ability to gather info on the program, and personality of the staff I spoke with. During my time of research and making the final decision of where I should attend, NMETC was the only one I felt at peace with when it came to handing over a healthy sum of money and my future. Not only did they teach us, but we learned how to rock solid Paramedics! I would have not gotten to where I am at today if it wasnt for this outstanding group of people and instructors! If you are looking to get you EMT or obtain that Paramedic "Golden Glitter Patch", look no further. You will not be disappointed after it is all complete and you look back on your time here. It took me some time to actually write a review but I thought this through and think others should as well before paying for the course. I took the hybrid paramedic course and the online portion was somewhat beneficial but also very expensive for what you're getting. The part I was most disappointed with is the leadership and some of the instructors. The in-person portion was taught by a few burned out paramedics who seemed to care about putting down students rather than lift them up. I will say there were a couple instructors who actually seemed to care but overall the program leaves a lot to be desired. If you're willing to pay quite a bit of money for a cert honestly I would look elsewhere even with the convenience of learning from home or at the site. There are plenty of other programs with instructors who will respect you, your time and money.Kyle D

I can’t stay enough about the quality of this program. After completing an EMT course here over the summer I was able to go into testing for my license with confidence that I had been given all the tools to succeed and not only pass the exam but hopefully go on to be a good provider for future patients. The instructors here are the best you’ll find anywhere and go out of their way to make sure that any student who wants to succeed will be able to reach that goal. Joe and Rachel were our two main instructors and they really are what shaped my experience at NMETC so they deserve a shout out for the time and efforts they make to make this program what it is. I can’t think of one negative to say about this program and would recommend it to anyone interested in pursuing a career in EMS.Carli B
