20 Best Paramedic Programs In Cleveland, OH (2022 Updated)

The teachers for the most part are great. Student center and student billing either need to communicate better between them and the student or need new people in there over all. I’ve had issues since summer of 2018 with bad communication from them. I had 3 different advisors in less than a 2 semester span. Got scheduled into a class where the clinicals conflicted with the other classes I had. Got denied dropping that class but was not emailed or called about the denial. Found out about it when I was scheduling fall classes. Finally got it approved after the fact of all that mess and it messing with my financial aid. Oh but on top of it all, I would call student billing get no response back for so long (continued to rack up late fees due to no response back) I sent them 2 emails but not response back for days. They never actually looked into my account until I drove 35-40 minutes to find out why they said I can’t make online payments (even though I literally made one the month before) and comes to find out another mistake was made on with my account and I can make online payments. That’s not all, I had a $100 late fee put onto my account before it was even past due (and it wasn’t past due considering I made a payment). The communication is not good. Goes to show how much the school has gone down hill in such a short amount of time.Ashly Engwall

Went to the campus for a event with the e sports team. The campus is very wonderful. The faculty that I met were very communicative and helpful. The only hard part was finding the right lot and building to park near since it was my first time.Sheboygan Staff

My adviser was an eye opener for me with one simple question. "What do YOU want to do?" That question opened up a whole new world for me. Veteran Review: I attended COTC and graduated with an Associates in Nursing. I can say that it was very cumbersome to attend COTC as a veteran. I utilized my Tuition assistance and needed to "push them along" the entire way. Every semester I had to contact veterans affairs and tell them what I needed them to do to approve TA. My understanding is that they needed prompted in every way and every time I needed something completed to allow me access to my tuition assistance. This includes having to pay for a semester out of pocket do to their delay in assistance and lack of ability to complete my necessary needs on their own. From my understanding, they should understand this. I am currently attempting to apply for my bachelors 2 semesters later and I am unable to receive tuition assistance, because COTC has not submitted my graduated status to TA and I am unable to attend classes as a consequence to said incident. All said and done: If you are a veteran, be prepared to coax COTC along to get what you need.SSG Ben Moran RN

I had a very close immediate relative die during summer semester. When my immediate relative had a stroke, I did not notify my professors on the matter. Sorry, my thoughts are not on telling my online professors about my relative bleeding in the brain. My time was spent in the hospital, hospice, and at work. I missed a few assignments but notified my professors at my earliest convenience. The work was completed. Professor Sample for PSY-210-NA failed me on multiple assignments, accused me of plagiarizing from a blog, and is the reason I will not be graduating this semester from COTC. The plagiarizing accusation is because I had "similar sentences of a blog post." What a joke. Never take a class as Professor Sample as your professor. Do yourself a favor and just go to a different school. I will NOT be going back there. President Coe and other faculty members at COTC I contacted did not help in any matter. Of course, they took the side of Professor Sample.Adam A

I… HATE… COTC! Its the nightmare that will never end. My husband leaves for the military in one week… His recruiter needs his college transcript, so that he can get a higher ranking, more pay and one of the jobs he wants. All he needs is the transcript. We went in on the 22nd and paid extra to have the transcript sent. They told us they would send it out that day or the next. Well today we saw his recruiter and he STILL hasn't received the transcript. We went into COTC and had to talk to them AGAIN about this. Oh did I forget to mention that when my husband first started seeing his recruiter, he paid extra to have his transcript and then they handed it to my husband, therefore making it unacceptable to the Air Force. This is not even close to the first problem either of us has had with them. Oh, maybe you all should check out there 'graduation rate.' Less than 20 percent of people even graduate! Horrible school. I attended the school for about 2 years and have a better experience at the DMV. I was told in high school by a Cincinnati State that my credits would transfer from Cincinnati State to University of Cincinnati seamlessly – they did not. In fact when I went to UC, they stated they could accept me as a transfer student but none, zero, NADA – of my credits would transfer. I applied to Miami University (Ohio) and was able to have 3 classes transferred. Miami was also cheaper at the time than Cincinnati State. I had to start all over from scratch after 2 useless years at Cincinnati State. The staff at Cincinnati State, including the teachers, were low quality. Staff seemed to brush off any concerns you have. Asking for help? Only the minimum is provided to guide you in the direction you need. Teachers mostly seemed to be low quality and bottom of the barrel – I only had 2 teachers that were okay out of 2 years. A few teachers I was able to show issues with tests or exams – although they agreed that I was correct at the time, one refused to fix the exam grades for everyone because "That is what the test key answer is and she would have to go back and regrade all the tests"… Sorry? That is literately your job… The next teacher could not understand the wording of their own test question that they provided (online) and would not correct the answer for the students. I communicated this error via email and was pushed away. I pushed back stating the teacher was incorrect and provided the work as to why the answer was wrong, in a professional tone. The teacher responded unprofessionally by changing the color of the text in the email to red, downplaying my proof, not using punctuation, and using unprofessional language. I dropped the class as this is not a teacher in my eye; but someone who is there for a paycheck. Cincinnati State had a graduation rate of just over 12% when I attended. 12% of students graduate from this school…. For the 2019 year it is now 17.9%. The odds of you attending this school for 2-3 years and graduating are very low. You are better off attending a real college if you are serious about your future. The overall poor quality as well. I have never experienced so many arguments between teachers and students in a classroom before. After class is over, everyone leaves campus immediately unless they have another class within the next hour or so. The current ad campaign that is on TV does not portray the school correctly. The average age of students is middle age. There is very few labs due to limited budget. Little to no student engagement events. Printers were not free. Book store was a COMPLETE ripoff, some classes did not require the book due to costs. Teachers would not communicate to students about schedule changes in tests and exams effectively for online classes (I missed my final Physics exam due to this). Save 2 years of your life and go somewhere else. I am not the only one with a really bad experience. If you know someone that attended or attends Cincinnati State, talk to them. You will typically find they did not graduate or they think it is okay but plan to transfer to another school before they finish. My experience at Cincinnati State was something of a mixed bag. I had previously attended a 4-year university but was seeking a career change. Given the low cost of attendance that community colleges provide, I figured that Cincinnati State would be a great option. My first year of studies were great. I had some very kind professors who genuinely cared about the students and the material that they taught. Some faculty members could be a bit rude at times, but that is to be expected in higher education. After my first year, I truly felt like I was on the way to great success. My second year on the other hand turned out to be quite the opposite. During my first semester back from co-op, I received notification that I had been dropped from two classes without explanation. Upon reaching out to the registrar, I was told to contact my program chair/advisor. Upon reaching out to my advisor, I was not given any guidance. I felt like I was really left to my own devices to try to figure out how to schedule my classes. In addition, I found the teaching quality to be quite disappointing. In the one class that I was able to take that semester, my professor did not once hand out a syllabus or explain the grading rubric. I persistently asked him when grades would be given back, and he would give me a specific date. Only once did he ever give back grades on said date. The rest were given at the end of the semester, thus leaving all students in a state of anxiety over what our final grade would be. He stressed the importance of attendance and punctuality but was hardly ever on time for class. On some occasions, he even made me late to work because class would run over. For these reasons as well as the problems mentioned earlier about the administration, I decided not to return to Cincinnati State. In short, Cincinnati State is a good option for those seeking a low-cost education, and there are some great programs and professors here. However, the unorganized and highly bureaucratic administration combined with some exceptionally unprofessional professors keep the school from being as great as it could be. Please tread lightly if considering Cincinnati State now or in the future.Nick Workman

My review was removed probably by google because I mentioned that I don’t appreciate how their curriculum is trying to indoctrinate you. It’s other wise a good school. I got my degree in two years and had no problems. The instructors for my program were great. But it’s absurd in my opinion that a college feels the need to assert their opinions in to every core class. My English class was consistently wanting us to watch TED talks that talked about political standpoints. My sociology professor was the absolute worst. Even if you did an assignment and followed the rubric, but disagreed with her opinion, she would give you a lower score. Then try to justify it by using her own opinion as sources. She also said that anyone who believes in God is likely uneducated. Overall, my experience was good and I’m glad I got my degree here. But it’s just too liberal for my taste.Britt Jones

The registered nursing program is a joke. Very disappointed I wasted my time and money going there. It’s pretty bad when the students know more than the “professors”. The people running the program were unprofessional and lazy to say the least. Paid for a certain amount of credit hours and they only had class half of the times we were scheduled. Lessons were taught per self by reading hundreds of pages per night because the professors were unsure what they were teaching. During class time professors had crying babies and barking dogs along with many more distractions. Spoke higher up and the dean was absolutely useless, wouldn’t take any responsibility for the low class education. The program does not equip students to become skilled nurses. If you have standards for your education I recommend going elsewhere.Abby Hileman

I would never go back to this school. I was very disappointed in the teachers in medical program but also try to reach out to the dean and she was not very understanding and rude. So many of the students in our class try to reach out to the teachers about not understanding the material they were teaching so we had to self teach ourselves .It seems like all the school wanted was money and not care at all about the students education. It's pretty bad when you have more than 12 plus students complaining and them not wanting to do anything. This place is mostly money hungry ,and it's very disappointing . They should be caring for all the students futures and do there best to guide them not break them down.S G

Worst College Ever. Tried taking summer classes here and it was unbelievable the amount of trouble I went through. No organization what so ever. My advisor scheduled me the wrong classes for the summer so I tried setting up an interview with her twice to have her change what classes I need to take and she was a no show both times. Then I finally got the right classes registered a week before the semester starts. Then they tell me that I was suppose to pay for the classes the week before that even though they didn’t have the right classes. For online classes they cost more than in person lecture classes at AU. Would not recommend this “place” to anyoneTyler Croskey

I’ve only had on great instructor, Stephen Marlowe, but the worst instructor there is Amanda Bylczynski by far! She is extremely rude and is unwilling to help. She refuses to admit when she is wrong and tends to give multiple directions to assignments that contradict each other and gives you a poor grade when you don’t follow the “correct” set of directions. It’s hard to stay away from her though since she teaches history, geography, sociology, and is an advisor. Since she is an advisor she tries to push you to take her favorite classes that she teaches rather than put you in classes that will benefit your degree! I am majoring in education and she put me in her history class (her favorite) instead of letting me take sociology which would have clearly fit my path much better! Don’t waste your time at this school. They treat everyone like a high school student whether you are or not. If you are looking for a community college to start your college career go to Sinclair! This is the worst school in the country, the staff is over paid the classes are the equivalent to a junior high school. I had applied there for art classes and did online classes and I had completed all my work correctly and did the assignments on time and with the correct format. Stayed up for hours on end completing assignments putting a lot of hard work into them and still got bad grades for some odd reason? So I email my teachers and call the school asking what I can do to improve them the phone tree did not work properly and my teachers never emailed me back. First off the professors are great, they help you and answer all questions. In the 5 years I have attended, there are only a few that were mediocre, but they are gone now. Advisors are helpful, but you will need to make sure they know what you want. As an older student the school is affordable and most classes are available in the evening. Down fall is several classes like Calculus, pre calculus, music, and other lab classes have limited availability in the evenings and in some cases not at all. They now offer scholarships for older students who do not qualify for other financial aid. No out of county fees unlike some schools.Jen ny

I had a total hip replacement surgery this past June. It pains me to read the bad reviews about C.C. as the doctors there literally " gave me my life back". I am very healthy otherwise but had very advanced osteoarthritis in my right hip. I was not able to walk without a cane and was in 24/7 pain for over a year. Dr. Nicholas Piuzzi in the orthopedic department was amazing as well as his staff. I was discharged 25 hours after surgery. I live in Erie, and the hospital set up my home OT & PT. My recovery has been much quicker than most over 65 and I attribute most of it to the surgical procedure. (minimally invasive robotic assisted) and the high skill of the doctor. I don't know about any other departments, but I was impressed with the skill and compassion and attention of all the departments. Did I come across someone having a bad day, sure, but I don't feel that's a fair assessment of the overall facility and staff . You are also sent multiple surveys to report rude or dismissive people. Overall I highly recommend Cleveland Clinic. My husband has an appointment in another department soon and I expect we will receive the same exceptional quality of care I received. My whole family in Erie goes to the Cleveland Clinic.Louise Zimmer

This is one the best medical facilities in the world. My parents loved the Clinic and I have doctored there for about 60 years. My wife is currently doctoring there. You are treated well by everyone there. If an employee perceives that you may be lost in this huge institution an employee including the doctors themselves will direct you or guide you to your destination with a smile. They have their own sworn police department so you feel safe anytime you visit their campus. Lots of gorgeous outdoor spaces and huge hallways inside so it feels like a mall with shops, restaurants and other facilities. Very efficient scheduling. In one 7 hour day my wife had three diagnostic tests and saw four doctors. Check out the menu if you are a patient. Not your ordinary hospital food. How about that tunnel leading from the parking garage to the Miller building.Thomas Bowen

Absolutely the worst. Zero problems with Dr. Mangie but as soon as I was switched to Dr. Ku, nothing but problems. Jen from surgery scheduling is incredibly rude. She will constantly reschedule your appointments without confirmation because there are more important patients. She acts condescending when you can't drop your job to make it to the same day appointment she set up after the hospital forgot yet another test needed for surgery. My mouth is pouring blood every day & I've repeatedly been told that there's nothing they can do but apparently wait months for treatment. Completely incompetent staff. I used this service on 1/1/2022 from hospital to hospital. It is listed on the invoice as a Non Emergency Base plus ground miles and my invoice is for $1237.75. I just started a new job and my insurance did not go into effect until Feb. I called multiple times to explain I was a self pay and to see if the invoice could be reduced. I was sent a Financial Aid form in March, which I filled out and mailed back. I have called at least six times and talked to someone each time asking for help. They just keep saying no one is there to take my call. I was put into the managers voice mail twice. The transport was COVID related so I am hoping some kind of assistance can be given thru some type of government aid. I would appreciate someone contacting me so we can discuss in further detail. If I could leave a 0, I would. My husband who is in hospice care at home, was taken for a 4 day respite at a local facility. Physicians ambulance was scheduled to pick him up to bring him home at 2pm on 10/24. At 3 pm, I called the facility to see if he was on his way and was informed that he hadn’t been picked up yet. Our hospice case manager made a call to the company and was informed they would be there within the hour. At 4:15, still no word. By 5pm, I ended up going to get him myself. The company made no attempt to call anyone to let them know there was a delay. When I called the company, I was offered no apology whatsoever. I would walk before I used this service. My daughter was transfered to Rainbow Babies Hospital in Cleveland for respiratory distress due to COVID pneumonia back in December from UH Elyria which is not one Physicans contract hospitals. Management, the dispatch team and the crew were all very kind, very professional and very reassuring as I was going to follow in my personal vehicle. My daughter has chronic health problems and I don't usually let her ride alone in the ambulance. The crew who transported her did an excellent job at putting my worries at ease. I watch as I followed behind them and the paramedic who was in back with her was very attentive. I will forever be grateful for such amazing health care providers ❤️SARAH KITCHIN

I’ve been working here for more than a year, and I love it! I started here solely interested in gaining hours and patience experience… never thought I’d fall in love with working here. From the patients I meet/take care of, my coworkers, management, the many many opportunities, and even Star I don’t see myself working anywhere else. To be honest, I’ll probably never have to no matter my certification level. Granted, the company isn’t perfect, but the company takes initiative to listen to their employees, patients, and customers for ways to make sure everyone has a pleasant experience, if not now then in the future. Communication has improved between management, dispatch, and the road crew. If you’re a patient, the staff is very understanding and easy to talk to. There’s tons of bonuses given to the employees, and flexible scheduling… like REAL flexible scheduling. They’ll even pick the employee up from home if there are any car problems or severe weather conditions; I know from experience. There’s different bases and a satellite to give employees options to work closer to home. The company will even pay you while you’re going to school, and/or to go back to school. They never arrive at the time that they say they will. ALWAYS late, usually 30 to 60 minutes late. Always late to the appointment. Never had them arrive to the patient on time. They use the excuse of being late; they are training a new person, they were not told the time of pick up that we were told. Always an excuse as to why they are late. Even spoke with the manager about them always being late. They may log that they arrived at the patient at a certain time but that is not the time they end up IN the building. Usually 10 minutes later. Then they have to load the patient on the cot, load them in the ambulance, 20 minutes later they might be rolling out AFTER they load the patient on the cot. It's so frustrating to always be late for an appointment that is 2 hours away then when they get to the appointment the clinic won't see them due to them being late.Laurie Smith

OHA is a small family run place, that being said we are treated as one big family. Our supervisors are always looking out for us. Upper management is constantly looking for and improving ways to be more efficient. One way they have helped out was getting us out on our off times with an addition of a porter who helps keep the squads looking nice and clean/ sanitized. It’s always nice coming into work, coworkers greet each other with a smile, and take great care and pride in their work. Everyone is ready to lend a helping hand on the road. I got my first degree assocates was okay. I had to take things that did not relate to what I was going for. I feel they are all about money. I'm in it again for a certificate for medical. The teachers are rude and blaming the students if we don't understand something. They say we are failing to understand and listen. All semester I have been trying and the teachers being rude. Info is was to much to do and the work and just combing too much together. I feel I have made a poor decision. In chosing to take my cerfticate for medical here. I have even had the teacher call me yelling at me when I tried to tell her I felt I was being treated unfair. I had a death in the family at the time. Also recently I keep being told I am the only one if there's a issue like not receiving all three cpr certificates in e-mail and to figure it out myself. Then I found out other in the class had same issue. I am at my witts end in theclass but close to graduating this semester but can't tolerate being treated like this anymore. I'm afraid to go to lccc about the teachers that they will fail me or make it worse for me. I have not been in a situation like this in all my years of going to school.Katherine

terrible, some teachers are great, others are the worst I've ever met. Prof. Craddock in microcomputer applications will have a fit if you dare look at your phone, then she will give you the worst lecture of your entire life, then give you an assignment with directions so vague it is impossible to do. Credit transferring has a 50/50 chance of working, Trustee Scholarships get ignored by financial office constantly. The "welcome to lccc " course or SDEV is the biggest waste of time ever. Multiple hours a week devoted to nothing. No academic benefit, nothing of substance, just incredibly basic information and then they force you to use even more time to meet a counselor for an assignment because you aren't already swamped enough. 3/10 would rather be in crippling debt, maybe then i could get credit for my classes.potato_lover 123

Lorain County Community College has many degree and certificate programs to choose from. Plan sheets are available throughout the campus. Assessment testing will help you to determine if you are ready. The key for me was to find a plan and stick with it. The atmosphere was nothing like my high school, and I loved it. I found a great job in my field even before graduating. Later, I was able to transfer my entire two-year degree into one of the University Partnership programs. I started as a third-year student, and completed my bachelor's degree while working full-time and raising a family, without having to leave the county. Once I had a goal, counselors, advisors, faculty members, tutors, staff and even fellow students helped me to reach it!Margaret Rozmarynowycz

I love this school and everything they have to offer. This is a wonderful place to further your education. They are very helpful with all your needs and work hard at providing you with the necessary tools to achieve your goals. I mainly go to the centerville campus-since I live right around the corner in Kettering, but I’ve been to the main campus a time or two. It’s very easy to find everything here, and a cute layout. It’s so much more than a community college, and hopefully one day they will take on the full roll. Until now it’s a great place to be. You can also get your bachelor’s here for only a couple select programs. I highly recommend this college to any and all. Their is no reason to pay tens of thousands in college fees, simply for a name that nobody in the professional world even cares about. Sinclair has agreements with most of the major state universities and 4-year colleges, as well as robust adult education/trade education programs. And the campus is nicely laid out. It's easy to get to and from, there is ample parking (you may have to "cruise" at peak times), and most of the campus is connected by sheltered walkways or tunnels.Athena Prime

Sinclair Community College has really been improving over these past few years. I'm currently attending the Nursing program. The newer building 14 is really nice and clean and has nice practice styled simulation rooms and equipment. Hi, I'm a graduate from 1988 of the Dental Hygiene program. I have a successful career now. The dental hygiene clinic has since been updated and looks awesome! I had a positive experience there. I always encourage people to attend, even if it's just to save money on electives! My son is currently registered and will be attending this month, I'm thrilled. It was pretty quiet there considering the pandemic. I went to the meteorology lab taught by John Niedzelnik. He was laid back and informative with the students. Tries to change things up with guest speakers and field trips! A very clean university, inside and out. The workers in the area are very respectful n' cheery to coworkers n' customers. Nothing too problematic happens in the area which is very important. Only down side is; people don't know how to drive between 3pm -7pm.Kami Woodson

Back in 2018-2019 I joined the surgical tech program and the instructors were wonderful. The reason I gave a one star was because I had a relative who passed away during the program and I just couldn’t continue. I talked to everyone about my situation and I was met with such a horrible attitude from a woman who had to be in her 30s at the time running the financial aid side of things. The instructor went to speak to her about my situation while I waited outside the door. I heard everything that came out of her mouth. She instructed the instructor not to make any contact with me or even look at me. That hurt a lot considering I was going to pay back the school but I was hoping to enter the part time program. When I heard this it immediately changed my mind. Not the instructors fault at all, she was so wonderful during my grieving process but whoever was in charge of the financial aide side of things was a a cruel witch. Hopefully that woman is no longer with Ehove.Jazmine Sandoval

Great place to learn some practical skills and to become a valuable asset to any community. A lot cheaper, better real life learning experience than college and a better chance of finding a good paying job after you graduate. Tech schools and their graduates are the big up and coming demand. There's a short supply of electricians, plumbers, and mechanical repair techs for factories. Once you learn a skill, you'll all ways be able to find work. 😀John Samko

Great school I took Criminal Justice with Mr.Seaman. But they fired him for a stupid reason it was because we had a k9 until in class for a day because we were learning the perks of k9 untils. Also we had to clean daily no janitors were required for our building.JEVINWARSS97

I was in the horticultural program and ABSOLUTELY loved it. I'm doing so well right now with weddings, decorating for people in their homes and so much more!!!
