A good school where you get out what you put in. Many trains stop within walking distance and buses as well. Just like any college, depending on your major, you will find good and bad professors. So always make use of the rate my professor website. I had a very pleasant experience. The administration was more competent than other schools I went to and my issues were always solved within a reasonable amount of time. The facilities I had to use for my major were in even better condition compared to some four year schools. The wifi coverage was good. Plenty of cafeterias with the best one being in the E building. Plenty of food trucks with different types of foods. Lots of seating areas with electrical ports. The class scheduling was workable with enough sections to fit almost everyone. Can't speak for any other major but it felt like that overall. They are always hiring new adjuncts so it's not the same professor teaching that one section you need all the time that everyone says is horrible. Always stay on top of your things if you want to have them resolved quickly. That's the part you play in your college years. The hand holding stops after High School. All I can say is, relax a little and have some fun. At the end of the day grades won't show the strength of your character after all is said and done.Mounia B

It seems like professors like the one I got Professor Arnold who acts likes she is going through the motions and don't there . i felt I waste my time and money which I paid out of pocket in her class and is thinking about leaving the college. She is one of the worst teachers/professors i ever had . I think cause it a community college a lot of them are mad cause they can't teach in a four year college through out of the community colleges in NY LaGuardia is the best . That being said she is the third professors that I had that sleeps walks through their class and I had another one that did something that weren't cool and I didn't show up for her class and never got an apology from her. Im currently in my last year at LaGuardia (majoring in business) and i have to say the Business department is full of AMAZING professors. Classes are really easy (most of them except accounting unless you're good at it) and the students are cool. I, personally, never talked to anyone or made any friends because I'm not an outgoing person. The school is constantly going under renovations and they just finished the new library and it looks AMAZING, as if it was a library from an ivy league. Food isn't that great but what do you expect, its school food [not free of course]. I am currently a student on line. This is the WORSE school experience I have ever had. I had to drop a class because my teacher wasn't monitoring it and only 8 students were registered and no one was participating. The on line forums and tests all done on line have had technical difficulties affecting grades and the teachers don't care and neither does the head of the department of on-line learning. Most of my courses are a joke, the teachers are uncaring and not computer savvy. Most of the teachers send out assignments with grammar and spelling errors. Every teacher requires different things making it really difficult to be an on line student it's almost like they want you to fail. I in my first semester and I am already looking for another school. The international department of this college is so rude and mean. I got sick in between my semester. And I was an International student. I went to the hospital and they gave me a letter to show that this patient is so sick. I was suffering from chicken pox at that time. And the college department said we cannot allow u to withdraw the classes because u r an international student. This was so mean. And the lady Robin Raecker said "we will kick u out, if u miss classes." I am a parent who's child attended 2012-2014 semesters during 3 student deaths occurred. My daughter was made fun of every day. Kids shipped in from NYC to attend this college. 90% of students are from NYC. Ghetto college!! Small country town with nothing but drinking going on. I took Acting & Gymnastics classes growing up as a kid @ KCC; along with taking other performing arts enrichment classes @ Brooklyn College also while growing up, although Brooklyn College wasn't affiliated with my high school like KCC was. KCC has a great campus for a CUNY two-year college (one of the nicest in the CUNY system being right on Manhattan Beach) and is also the partner CUNY institute with my High School alma mater, Edward R. Murrow whom it operates the CollegeNow! program with. I spent my Junior and Senior years at Murrow taking KCC college-level courses taught by both Murrow faculty, and visiting KCC faculty (at Murrow) as well as commuting to the KCC campus from Murrow for additional classes that could only be taught on-site @ the KCC campus. It was EXTREMELY academically enriching to be able to enjoy a college level curriculum whilst still being in High School; and that was due directly to KCC's collaboration with my high school. My GPA went up as a result of the CollegeNow! program during my last two years at Murrow as did my SAT scores. I have KCC to thank for that. 👍👏👏👏👏Ben Schaeffer

Kingsborough CC has a very nice entertainment program, well-run and well-sited, with both indoor and outdoor venues. This year's 4-part post-pandemic return to their July outdoor series has been a real winner for the 3 weeks of it so far, with decent weather enhancing the winning combination. Performers have commented on how well-received they are when they come to perform there, from an enthusiastic staff that really respects their art, to receptive audiences. That reputation has allowed audiences to see a number of top-notch acts more than once there, as the artists appreciate that respectful treatment. There have been other events there, all of which were interrupted by COVID since it came around, so there will be needed time to get those back on track. There are cautionary protocols in place even now: those attending must provide proof of vaccination, with masks optional. Not sure of masking will or will not be required once the indoor events resume, but it certainly appears that the staff has kept up-to-date with everything necessary.N H Tanner

Graduated here. This school is more akin to an extension of highschool, and not a professional learning environment. Professors here are hit or miss. I had a couple great professors, I had a lot of VERY bad professors. The English department is the exception, with the majority of the professors there being very professional and knowledgeable of their field. In more than one class, I had EXTREMELY immature "fresh-out-of-highschool" peers. I'm talking about the baggy pants, crappy music on cell phone max volume, and high attitude people in the middle of class. Felt like an inner-city summer school at times. Professors didn't, or couldn't, do anything about it. Administration is bad. Very bad. Lots of getting the run-around, lots of mis-information. Technology wise, not good. Their website actively suppresses google chrome and forces internet explorer, which as any tech savvy person would know is an insecure and clunky browser. The website bounces between basic HTML and confusing/frustrating UI. The campus itself is very well taken care of and looks very nice. The teacher was reportedly uncomfortable with having a gun in the classroom, and asked the officer to be escorted out. This school is an unprofessional joke! I messed up coming here for my Last year. The staff is ghetto and money hungry especially registration and financial aid! I should have stayed at Savannah State they are lazy as heck, ghetto and care nothing about students. They messed up my courses, dropped me out of the wrong class and didn’t even place me back in until the LAST week of school but I’m taking the fall for it, wgeb it is THEIR FAULT! The college has won multiple awards from the CUNY system as well as other institutions for its ability to grant Associate's Degrees at an impressive rate and to foster continuing education at senior colleges. With a respectable teacher-to-student ratio, significant public and private funding, and a central location in New York City, the learning experience has been covered by many publications and studied by experts. However, BMCC also suffers from a large rise in remedial education, lack of freshman retention, and overcrowding. Due to its larger base of capital compared to most other two-year colleges, expansion of new campuses during the rebuilding of Fiterman Hall was possible. Several trailers are still used as classrooms to this day in order to help expand capacity. Internal programs have also been created or expanded to help with academic advisement, provide online access for registration, transferring to other colleges, and job placement. edit, update: ended up coming to the conclusion that because all of this uncertanty and my bad living situation I am dropping out, I did all I could, was not met halfway by anone but professors unless I begged here. do not go here if you're poor. I am starving, housing insecure, financially unstable, and unable to make ot to class or properly study because of financial struggle, inability to be alone a place quiet to study because they won't house, and depression. If you are hungry, you can find all types of food around the building. It has 26000 student. It also has a big cafeteria, big library, big quiet study place for study and a lot more . WORST.SCHOOL.EVER!! I hope they close down for good VERY SOON! There's no motivation or inspiration at all in this school whatsoever. The counselors and teachers are horrendous!! For every 5 teachers there, only 1 teacher is decent! They hold back their students far too long from achieving their true potential and don't even get me started on the atrocious time consuming and full of adversity enrollment process!! If you're still stuck taking a remedial/non credit class; instead of being able to register online LIKE IT SHOULD BE FOR EVERY STUDENT, you're instead forced to go all the way to Valhalla to register for classes EVERY semester until you've passed ALL their pointless non credited classes! Very excruciating and appalling for any student! Their counselors are always putting down students, not one can potentially uplift you when it comes to succeeding in school. Miserable place. Professors don’t care. They have people who don’t speak English teaching the math department. Those in the financial building are miserable, uninformative and rude. Nobody communicates!! Financial Tells you one thing and the counselors say something different. Totally unorganized and made my college experience a miserable one. They prioritize minorities and even questioned me on why I’m not on financial aid. Teachers WILL fail you if you don’t agree with their POLITICAL views. I was pretty skeptical about going back to school during this plandemic and now that I’m back in school, I wish I would’ve saved my money. The website says lab classes will be conducted online but it’s actually remote. If you want to pay full tuition for a partial education, then this is the place for you. The people who work in the administrative building specifically the Bursar’s office don’t care. The administrative building is physically closed so the only way to communicate is via email. This is the 4th (yes 4th) university I have attended. the others were in Chicago, California, and N.J. I can honestly say the issues I have run into here are no worse or better than issues I've experienced at the other schools. I began ASU as a non-traditional student and was more mature, focused and committed this time around. yes I have experienced some disorganization, rude, unprofessional and lazy staff at times. I also spent a total of 4 1/2 years at this institution, and the number of negative encounters I've experienced were very minimal in comparison to my length of stay. THIS SCHOOL DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THEIR STUDENTS!!! Compared to other colleges ASU is so UNORGANIZED. Work orders take months to get fixed. The food is Always horrible. Pizza Hut and Subway always run out of food. They never have anything and they are always so slow. it takes 30 mins to get a personal pan pizza. Housing is a mess; some students are homeless because its bed bugs in there room. South hall has mold in there building and only 3 out of 7 washers work. Its a hassle to wash with 200 people in one building and it just seems like nobody cares about us. Last semester it took 4 months to receive my student refund check while it took other colleges 1 month. They kicked students out of school the first month for having a balance on there account but it took them 4 months to pay students their money. (We even made it to the news for having slow financial aid. ) I wont be returning, this school is slow when it comes to fixing problems but when it comes to them getting paid they have no issues kicking students out.Moesha

The Albany State University website states that they are making our health and safety their number one priority— unfortunately, I have not seen any evidence that their statement is correct. I have noticed that hand sanitizer and masks are easily accessible around campus. However, there are some students and even professors who are not wearing their masks. While attending my class, I also noticed that we had no distance between us in a very small classroom. Under these circumstances, I do not feel safe attending my classes, and I am sure I’m not the only one who feels that way. In addition, It’s disappointing to me that covid-19 cases are rising and the majority of courses being offered are all in person. I get that people want to go back, but it would be nice to at least have the option to keep being remote since it’s working out better for a few of us.Val B

I do NOT recommend this school! Honestly I was excited to go here and looking forward with completing this course. I went here for the EMT Basic Program. Let us start from the beginning. On the website they have a price of how much you would pay, but when you get there they tell you something completely different. Then they say the offer financial aid for EMT or payment plans, but when I asked to do it they said they don't do financial aid yet it says it online. So I offered to do a payment plan and they said that I couldn't, so I said okay then I won't attend. All of a sudden it's ok we can do a payment plan, that should've been my cue to not attend. Next the clinical person David, is really unpleasant. He talks to you as if you are beneath him, he is just rude. The course is rushed, if you did not go to school before or have a degree like myself, I don't recommend. The pace is too fast and they teaching is all over the place. Third they have this computer course online which is basically the computer reading what's in the textbook out loud. Unfortunately, that is why I failed because I missed two readings that had little quizzes in them. Which made no sense to me because I like to read the book myself than off the computer. Also, because of that they gave make up courses and two exams to take and said if I passed it, they would allow me to pass the class. I PASSES THEM AND THEY STILL SAID THEY COULD HELP. I should have read ALL of the reviews on this "school." I was really super excited about coming here but they are all about the $$ and don't care about your education. The clinical clearance coordinator, David Izso, is NOT friendly at all. He called me multiple times about a vaccination that I had to wait to get due to doctor appts being booked out and was talking to me if I was a child. Very unprofessional. They terminated me on a Friday, 4 days before the next semester, and a holiday weekend for failing ONE class after allowing me to take a makeup final for another class knowing I was already going to be terminated. They booted me off my portal, I had no access to ANY grades, my agreement signed through the school email, or even access to the other portal where I was messaging my professor. I have friends in nursing SCHOOLS in NYC that are allowed to pay and makeup a class failed after the first time. This school, no. They want me to apply again to just take more money from me. They hounded me everyday to pay my balance but when you want to speak to someone in regards to grades they just send you to voicemail and terminate you. I do not recommend CAHE. I graduated from the paramedic program yesterday and I wanted to just share some information with anyone reading this. I joined the Full-Time Paramedic program and have had a wonderful experience. The program is rigorous but I found the course load to be very doable. The program leadership (David Skolnick and Joel Abraham) really works with each individual student to ensure they are able to succeed and become competent prehospital providers. They had many opportunities to do clinical rotations at various agencies throughout NYC and upstate NY. About 1 quarter into my program, they updated a lot of their equipment as well. Overall, I am very happy to have been trained by CAHE and highly recommend it to anyone looking to join become an EMT or Paramedic.Shulem Rosenbaum

I work at Twin Oaks at Stone Ridge in Wentzville. We are a senior apartment complex which by it's nature comes with frequent visits from ambulance district. We are so blessed to have both fast, kind, and respectful responses from the ambulance district. When seconds can matter, we never worry about how long help is going to take. They also do helpful and fun community outreach providing CPR and first aid classes, File of Life emergency information kits, and even helped program I.C.E. (in case of emergency) contact info into our resident's cell phones. I have attended numerous classes here since 2006. This past year I had an employer request I complete a course through CPR Central. I had an infant son pass away in our home unexpectedly and it was the first Pediatric Advanced Life Support course I had taken since our loss. I was grilled at CPR Central to the point that I was in tears, it was a terrible experience. I called INHS and asked if I could bring my certificate code here instead. I explained my situation. They were kind, compassionate and accommodating. I felt so much more at ease with the staff here and hands down recommend them to everyone!Danie Hall

I would give them 0 stars if I Could. One of their ambulances ran my husband off of the road with my kids in the car. The ambulance driver didn't even stop. He literally kept going. Mind you the ambulance was not on a call and didn't have the sirens on. We called the office about 5 or 6 times and talked to a few supervisors. They literally gave us the run around and never contacted us. They did not care at all. I guess it was ok for one of their workers to run my family off the road smh. On two separate occasions I waited for over one hour to be picked up at St. Peter's Hospital by Mohawk Ambulance. My father was being discharged and they were late both times. The first time they arrived about one hour late but did do a nice job of helping my father and they were very polite. The second time I waited for an hour and then was told they would possibly be arriving in another twenty minutes. I opted to drive my sick father home in my own car. Mohawk seems to be very unreliable, although their ambulance crews are very caring and professional.NYUSA

So far, while attending suny broome, i have had no real issues with any of my classes besides having an online math course. I would definitely recommend that if you can choose your math courses to be in person or online, choose in person. I for one, I am really struggling with my current online math course. Its not the instructors fault, its just really challenging having an online math course. Some courses work well online, my geology class, for example, works very well online. The instructors i have had so far are great! They are super reasonable, they are very fair with submission times for any work they assigned. If something came up, and you couldn't complete the work on time, notify your instructor and they extend the work due date! (At least that's what has happened to me anyway.) They messed up my future plans real good. Cancelled a chemistry class that I needed to graduate and offered me no alternative, just told me it may be available during summer but no guarantee. Then they put me in a math class with a teacher so rude and careless. This teacher told the girls in my class "ladies, leave your emotions at the door." Took points off my test for writing B instead of b. Failed that class so hard so fast when the previous math class I took, I passed with 90's. Dropped it because of the blatant lack of student involvement and quality education. So I went from a May 2023 graduation to May 2024 because SUNY Broome is too lazy to keep their advertised classes and hire teachers willing to make sure the students learn. All of the “professors” are absurdly rude and could care less about your learning and individual success. You are just a number with dollar signs attached and that’s it. Overheard multiple conversations about how this “community college” needs to bring in more students from overseas and if “we had it our way we wouldn’t admit local students.” It seems as if the “professors” couldn’t get into or make it at BU and are perpetually miserable because of this. Ended up switching to a different school and am maintaining a GPA of 3.985. Do not waste your student loans here!S F

Finger Lakes Community College is a phenomenal place to go to college, and/or stop by to visit. The people who work there, from the staff at the One Stop Center and Professors to the Custodians and Maintenance Staff, are all friendly and welcoming. Some students and staff may seem standoffish at first glance, but once you get to know them they are very kind people. The custodian and maintenance staff constantly attend to necessary tasks around the college, from bathroom restocking to problems with technology, they work their hardest to make sure that the college is in pristine condition. If you come across an issue with safety, want to talk to someone you know you can trust, or even need to check the lost-and-found, the campus police are always there to help. Granted, the staff changes during the day, so talking with the same officer, each time, when you stop by may not be possible. However, all officers at the Campus Police office are very knowledgeable, level minded, and open to helping those who seek their assistance. If you're thinking of enrolling into one of their college programs or majors, do it. You can always talk to a staff member at the One Stop Center if you wish to change your career or field of education in the following semester. Keep in mind, always consult a financial advisor in the One Stop Center before you drop a class, especially if you're acquiring financial aid from the government, such as FAFSA (US Government financial aid program) or TAP (New York State financial aid program). They will tell you if dropping the said class(es) may harm your financial aid accomodations. For those who have disabilities, diagnosed or undiagnosed, visit the Third Floor of the library in the college. You have to go through the Second Floor entrance due to inaccessibility through the First and Third Floors, however, it is very much worth visiting. Once you exit the Library elevator, or the staircase, head to your right. Once you reach the door frame, turn right, head straight 20 or so steps, and turn right again. You will find the Disability Services office there. The people who work in the department are beyond welcoming, no matter what reason you're there. Melissa Soules is one of the most trustworthy people in that office. She will help you with whatever you may need resource wise. Whether it's testing accommodations or something else, she will be able to point you in the right direction of the resources you need. I'm still in my first semester but so far I am extremely pleased with FLCC. I attended another junior college and a university years ago and neither held a candle to my experience here as a SUNY Online student. The administration has been amazingly efficient for a college and the instructors are knowledgeable and highly responsive any time I've had a question. Honestly I have been surprised, in a good way, by the difficulty of the coursework as well as the very high standards of the instructors. If you are considering any of the computer science programs here then don't expect it to be an easy win. I've had to put more effort and time into this semester than I ever have previously with coursework. I live in Queens so I've never been to the campus but I can't recommend the CompSci department highly enough if you really want a challenge.Jarod Armstrong

Concert was great. Unfortunately the crowd standing constantly blocking the veiw of others, needs to stop. Plus, talk about bait & shoot. IF CMAC was as concerned about the crowd standing that should be sitting as they were making money on booze. That would be an example of true professionalism! How can you put so much emphasis on promoting booze and drunk people, then cut them loose on the roads? It's all about $$. I get it people want to have a good time. We do to. Seems like a nice place, very diverse although the concrete architecture is not for me. Really nice fountain and good school for law, computer science, and math. Small but clean dorms and a really nice food court with built in Starbucks. I'm not going there for college but that doesn't mean you shouldn't.Fin Red

I am giving this school a 1 star.. The only thing I loved about this whole experience was my instructor Mrs. Trina with the nail tech program.. Albany tech materials needs to be up to par, schools usually be about their students but this one is mainly about the money. I had to talk with someone in the registrar office on why I didn't receive My official graduation email and they had no freaking idea as to why I didn't receive it. My GPA is a 4.0 and I was told by someone in the registrar office on grad fest that I was considered for honor grad and was redirected to go to the business office to pay for a honor sash and I did just that, I picked up my cap and gown and received my sash from MS. Hawkins. Fast forward to the day before graduation a former student who was in my summer classmate asked me why I didn't come to the honor's day program well for 1 didn't receive not one email or call or nothing so I reaches out to the registrar office to speak with ms Hawkins on why I haven't received an email about the honor's day program, so I sent her an email and asked her about it, she responded that only students with degrees or diploma is eligible for honors. So when I responded back to her email she has not responded back to me and when I called to speak with the president no one will return my call. Pictures are included.. You say because I am in a certificate program I am ineligible for honors if that's the case why did you tell me I qualified and sent me to buy this sash I am wearing in my picture that I am including. Will I return to Albany tech for anything else? Absolutely notSunshine Williams

This is the worst place to continue your education. First, if you believe anything these people say I feel really bad for you. The faculty takes forever to get your business handled. Don't come here if you need Special Services because those only kick in when you are failing as well. The bus is a loud, broke down, no A/C death trap that takes forever and is always having issues with time. You should have a full time job while you go here because you will spend all your money and need loans. The financial aid is screwed up and they blame the government not the fact that they purposefully mess your money up to make more from you taking out loans you will NEVER see when you need money for supplies. The events are so wasteful, throwing away food because no one wants to hang out at school. If you go here take online classes so you don't have to come on campus and deal with people and drama that in 24-7. A bunch or ignorant animals is the way some of these students behave and then the people who want and education have to struggle. They told me that if I can not find a job they would give me a free reeducation, they just make you take out loans and watch you fail because you don't get your loan money when you need your school supplies.M Michele

I strongly feel that the admin staff at this school do not give any regard for their students. When taking an online class, I was randomly withdrawn for the class right before the final, after completing all the coursework and of course paying for the class itself. There was no communication given to me of why this happened, or any apologies. In fact, I was unable to complete the class as I could not write the final if not registered. I understand that mistakes happen but this is completely unacceptable. The mistake could have been remedied by a follow-up on the college's end, and communication should have entailed as soon as the error occurred. The incident has lead me to feel Albany Technical college gives no regard for student's personal success, well-being or degree completion. If the school would like to follow up on this issue, I am happy to discuss ways to amend the situation, although it is little too late at this point. My only advice to new students is to consider a different school that this kind of error would not occur at.Kaitlyn Rourke

Went to the stadium, my son won some tickets. We sat in the last row of bleachers on the home dugout side. The ushers were friendly, we were escorted to our seats upon asking directions to our seating area. Many activities happened in-between innings, t shirts were tossed and lucky members of the crowd got to play games on the field. Big focus on alcohol, many areas to buy your beverages of choice. One food area seemed to close early, pretty normal sight in our travels past COVID-19. Bathrooms were clean, well stocked. Food was good, my son says it's his 4th best burger he has ever had. He bought one before leaving. The reason for the 3 star is the dead mouse under my seat and the red bugs on the cement wall infront if the seats. It's a outdoor venue, I understand, but seeing the ushers collect trash makes me wonder if the stands get swept.Kylee Playz

Wow this place has garbage staff. They specialize in making education difficult or even damn near impossible to register and navigate their trash course listings. I’d expect more from a community college with so much money. They dare call themselves a “pioneer” in online education. Hogwash! Listen, don’t listen to me—check it out for yourself. You’ll be disappointed with their offerings. Then again, they pay their staff dog wages so what should I expect? EDIT: 2 months later… still garbage staff. Unable to fix the simplest of issues. Terrible availability of college associates, and their technology issues are rampant and lacking security. I’d rather just send all my personal info directly to hackers in the PRC. HVCC is just a middle-man. Enjoy your degree!Liam

Went to the County Folk Art Festival on a Friday night this time. Not too crowded, and lots of Fall craft items for sale. And a few Christmas craft items too. I saw a couple of things that I kind of liked, but I must have been more hungry than I thought. I bought some very good. Amish snickerdoodle cookies and a couple of nice chocolate sticks. (And two Bundtlet cakes. So yummy!!!)Debra J. Harper
