We were working on our project (Our Green Hope) today where we used 3000 reusable bags to make the largest mosaic. The worker at the campus were friendly and supportive. After finishing the project, all the 3K bags were given for FREE at Kroger to encourage people to start using reusable bags instead of plastic grocery bags. Please do not attend this school for it's transition to teaching graduate program. The professors did not prepare for their classes and provided low quality education to the point that I could not justify continuing with this program after paying in over $4,000. When attempting to get them to appeal the final $800 for the semester I left the program they simply refused to give any leeway or acknowledge and error on their part and sent me collections with an additional $350 fee. With no recourse beyond their own appeals process that unsurprisingly found no problem on their end, all I can do is complain on their review boards. On the plus side, the do have a beautiful campus and I can not in anyway speak to the quality of their undergraduate program.Daniel Gore

While well established as a great Franciscan university, Marian remains up-and-coming in terms of their MAT program for teachers. I had a wonderful experience in terms of the contacts made and networks formed while attending. However, much remains to be done to increase the rigor and requirements for that particular degree. Still, Marian University will soon open the second medical school in the State of Indiana. They are also adding a seemingly much finer tuned doctoral education leadership program.Tim Lankford

The buildings are contemporary except for a few historical sites that were preserved. Other than that, it appears to be a great place. The people were friendly as we visited as well. I will start with the good. The instructors are amazing. Most of them that I have had are very intelligent and filled with the necessary knowledge to teach you. Now the bad. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE COUNSELORS!!!! Figure out what classes you need to take on your own. I spent 3.5 years there with a combination of full and part time and have no degree and no requirements for any programs that I told them I was most interested in. When I was a vulnerable 17 year old first generation college student there completely on my own they told me I needed to take reading for Nursing. For one, looking back, I placed out of reading. For two, I have yet to come across a nursing program that requires reading. It seems that they always gave me the run around and had me taking all of the classes that I did not need, and none of the classes that I did need. If you can figure out what classes you need to take on your own, then The school if great, and the education that you receive is great. If you have nobody to help you or guide you in your life and are solely dependent on the counselors advise, find an alternative.Amber Parson

I didn’t know I Loved ECC, until I moved and I was out of district so I had to go to MCC. I Hate MCC everything and everyone is shut off by 4pm and there’s no almost no teachers willing to teach past 4 (There are but only some). This is impossible to manage. I’m getting a job near ECC so I can go back. I MISS YOU. Not only does ecc have a ton a teachers, but they offer a variety of times for classes especially in the afternoon. There teachers are wonderful and dedicated (not all of course but most) and there facility offers so many different activities and clubs you can go crazy in there. Solid school. Easy(ish) to navigate. Some of the buildings are far apart and depending on your classes you might have only 10 minutes to go all the way across campus. The staff is friendly and try to help anyone navigate the school, so don't worry! Each building is clearly labeled and maps are everywhere so it's hard to get lost. There's tons of socializing areas and seating for different gatherings. Some of the popular places would be the courtyard with the fountains or the large hill in the center of campus. The campus also has a variety of food options, so whether you want smoothies, coffee, pizza, pastries or a salad there are options all around!Zena Krimzon

They have no idea how to teach what you will need in the state of Kansas. They will use other professors lectures and do not want to answer questions or teach you. So yeah if you want to teach yourself from a book and have a bunch of assignments due constantly this is the place for you. I am taking a welding certificate so I can work in the welding workforce. I want to work for the olathe railroad welding force after college. Then maybe do some underwater welding I have not quite decided. If I do I have to take a scubadiving class to get certified in that. As a student of West Valley-Mission College District, I was able to attend this college for one class which was listed on the same transcript at Mission College. It is a nice campus and more of a suburban feel to it. The instructor was nice and helpful. If it was closer to my home, I would have gone to this campus for more classes.Bill Fong

They try to keep you here longer than necessary and do not give you the correct information to transfer. The science teachers are often terrible and actively try to fail students. It has become so bad that students are trying to get them fired. I have yet to meet someone who has met a counselor and not been given misinformation.Thea Queen

I attended Southeastern University and it was one of the most horrible experiences I’ve ever had to go through. I attended an extension site through them. I received all A’s, the courses were elementary but the communication with the school was horrible and something I’ve never seen before from a school. The counselors hardly ever answer the phone, it’s almost like hunting them down which is somewhat hard to do being at an extension site in a different state. And when you do get a hold of someone, they have no idea what theyre talking about and I was also being told different things because nobody knew 100% what they were being paid to know. This did not feel like a university what so ever and I wish I saved my time and money because all honestly, this school seemed like a scam. The financial aid department also was a huge headache. They gave me an award letter and based on that letter I decided to attend the school. Months later, they changed my awarded amount without notifying me and I didn’t find out until halfway through the semester. I never received the refund I was supposed to receive and I actually ended up owing them money on top of the loans they already took from me. All I got was a sorry for not notifying me and although they accepted responsibility on making a mistake, I was helped in no kind of way. When the fall semester ended, I couldn’t wait to run out of there and go enroll in a real school that actually is helpful in some sort of way. Southeastern wasted a lot of my time and money and I hope whoever reads this takes this into account before deciding to go. Beware!Cheyenne Marie

Update 7.25 Finally there and super happy. In the end they are coming through for the Masters Program. Looking forward to parents weekend drop off. More posts to come. Update 7.12.22 I still love this school for my kid but have been less than impressed with my own experience getting into Masters program for Nursing. It's been a rough go with little to no communication. I hope its just because its a new program but a month out from when my daughter starts in fall and still know nothing about my program, what classes, cost or when it starts. I'll post an update when I find out more. I hate lowering my rating but have to due to my experience so far. Amazing campus. I went on a visit for my kid and I want to go. Update 6.17.22 This place is still amazing. My oldest is going there and I decided to do Grad school there. Hope to teach there one day. You want a place thats gonna love your kid and want the best for them. Look no further. We have visited several times before making our choice and its always the same no matter who you talk to. I studied business marketing here and graduated 2016/17. As a transfer senior, I get there were some complications. That said, it was a nightmare getting classes covered. Classes were dull, mainly because students don't engage much. Most professors were not open to much discussion or further exploration of topics, which was odd, especially with my experience at other universities. The campus is nice, but I found the education and experience desperately needing much more. I like the Christian feel, but even that is a bit off. To be blunt, students here are almost worse than the public university I was at. It's just got a cultish feel. This coming from a very strong Christian, just to clarify that perspective. I love this school! I take online courses after I moved from Missouri to Texas and everyone is always so friendly and helpful!! The financial aid office and Koree are fantastic and the Director of Academic and Student Affairs Sarah was amazing, too! Emillie is always quick when it comes to book vouchers and Valerie always gets the books sent out promptly! The online instructors are amazing and very helpful! The variety of courses offered online are outstanding! Would not go anywhere else for my education!! My counselor at the Ava campus, Jacquelyn is so friendly and takes time to make sure I'm doing ok! My daughter attends this university and she has told me multiple times that the buildings are ran down, many of the professors that she's had are rude and condescending, the computers in the library and in Springfield Hall are old and slow and the wifi is horrible. This university has absolutely nothing to offer to their students. My daughter is unhappy and she's had the worst experience here and she told me that she definitely regrets attending this university. I'm a Drury grad and I must say, Drury is an amazing place to go to college. The computer science department is fantastic. The professors go out of their way to help you and make sure you succeed. I would recommend it over any large state college. I went to both MSU and Arizona State and they don't hold a candle to Drury. Great school and great environment.Josh Harrold

The housing staff is horrible, they have put 2 charges on my account and they admitted to not knowing how they got my name however they refused to take it off even when the camera showed I never stayed, 3 weeks later I spoke to Hr for them to remove it and they did it the same day. The other one was removed 2 weeks later after the payment date. I would also recommend you bring in your own food or check it before leaving the dinning hall. I found so much mold and was served under cooked to many times. The drinks apply as well check the ice whole before u get if there is black stuff around it use the other machines.(not sure if they are gonna clean up before the fall but there is also mold in between the soda machines) Not only the dinning side but be careful with the soda/juice in the deli side the they both are spoiled. And check the expiration date of each snack you do choose to take I had 3 month old jello and I still can’t get that’s fussy taste out my mouth. Either side will not hesitate to sell old milk or old food and bunch it all up to be given out on the weekends. There is a wëëd problem at this school as well so be careful because if anyone in your dorm doesn’t it you maybe be accused of doing it as well by the campus police. Not on to the professors, you need to hold some of their hand and walk them three days the grading process. I had 3 professors(1 was in person and the other 2 was online) last semester wait til the end of the semester to grade everyone from my midterms to out introductions at the beginning. For online teachers make sure you double check their comments after they grade and read up on stuff ahead of time so u can message them early because they don’t respond to message in a timely manner. Navarro College was STELLAR! As a former Bulldog, I'm proud to have called this school my home. Professors are knowledgeable and interesting individuals, the staff are all charming and helpful, and the atmosphere of the entire facility is one of safety and growth. Plus, Dr. Fagan (the man in charge of it all) is incredibly personable and makes a point of greeting and interacting with students every chance he gets! The staff at the Corsicana campus are very rude. Upon inquiring about something the registrar didn’t know about; she went on to yell at me over the counter while the lobby was full of other students. There are only a handful of instructors that are dedicated and willing to see their students succeed. Don't know why I'm reviewing a college I'm not even part of, and this review is during a pandemic too.. well, it's purely about the aesthetic and convenience of the facilities. De Anza has quite the sizeable college grounds , so sizeable that it feels like an abandoned residential area with how empty practically everything is. It's complete with artistic facilities for music, visual arts, science buildings, sports facilities and the like. While I didn't enter, the library and the nearby park (called the sunken gardens by the college) was quite the beautiful location. The outdoor seating areas where the students would take a break and wait for classes on are widespread, shaded and very calming to be on. Not to mention the very convenient bus routes available . It's no wonder the college ended up being quite popular, it's geographically excellent and quite picturesque.Ace Hughj

De Anza College is great but not the book store. Beware of book store return policy. Make sure the books or items is in original condition or their will not refund. No sympathy at all. I bought online access book a week before class starts. My math intructor switch book. And to make matter worse I accidentally bent the access book card because it was in my backpack with one line crease and they denied the return after i picked it up on 1st day of class. Cost me $120 for a simple honest mistake. Ask for store credit or even exchange for the current hard copy of the free math book and they not willing to do anything. I'll go buy from amazon or used book somewhere else. Never again support this book store.Dru Down

Community colleges are a treasure trove of gems among them is access to the on-campus gym. De Anza College’s on-campus gym provides patrons with a quiet and well rounded experience for an affordable price. From experience, these types of gyms allow me to get my workout done in a welcoming environment, which I feel can’t be said of many gyms. I entered Clayton State as a Freshman in 2014, graduated with my Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Human Services in 2019. I am now completing my Masters Degree in Clinical/Counseling Psychology. I have had more positive experiences here than negative ones. The negative experiences I had were minute. Because my negative experiences were minute, I will list those first. CONS: – I had an issue with a professor in my undergrad about an assignment I completed that I received a 0 for, and when I attempted to make a meeting with the Dean of Psychology, she canceled the meeting and my issue was never resolved. I received a C in the course, which hurt my GPA. (I am not upset at the professor, since the issue was I didn’t follow 1 instruction she gave, my issue was with the Dean canceling the appt.) – The University Health Services employees are burnt out. They are understaffed, and due to that, they are not that friendly and can take a while to get stuff turned in on time. (However, i stayed on top of it consistently and I was able to get the issue taken care of before the deadline) – Other employees at the school are not friendly, but that could be due to issues completely unrelated to the school itself. – Food in the cafeteria is not great. Now on to the great experiences! PROS: – The professors in my department are WONDERFUL. I cannot stress how awesome the professors are here. I have gone through a lot in the past few years, and one professor specifically (Dr. Mark Daddona), really helped me through it. As a single mom it was hard, but they have always been very understanding and flexible with me. If they had a Doctorate program, I would take them for that too! – The students are great. Yes, you have some that are not really here for learning, but the ones that are here to learn are great. – The janitorial staff is amazing. They have always been kind to me, and they do their job very well! The school has always been kept clean, especially the bathrooms. – Everyone is pretty responsive. I cannot seem to remember there being a time where I went days without a response from someone in any of the departments or buildings. If I can remember anything else, I will add it in the future. The professors really care about what they’re doing, and it shows. The classes may not be easy and the rules may be strict, but since this is a college, that should be expected. Bottom line, I have had nothing but great experiences. If someone were to ask me for a recommendation, I would let them know to consider Clayton State University!Cassia Encinias

Clayton State has a great environment for a young adult to be properly trained for the battles of the adult world. The professors do a great job of making sure that the students have the proper knowledge to succeed. The limited class size allows the teacher to dedicate more time to the students who need extra assistance to ensure no student is left behind academically. This style of teaching helps to minimize the anxiety that comes along with being afraid to ask for help. The professor are firm on deadlines, so this develops the skills to be hard working, plan oriented, dedicated, and accountable. The students are kind and belong to one another. They understand that everyone is here for a particular purpose, and are willing to produce positive and supportive relationships to ensure that everyone makes it to their goals. I've been attending FCC since summer of 2016 and will graduate, god willing, this spring 2019. Full time, year round, no breaks. Although parking requires at least an hour grace period, I believe the over all experience is what you make it. I've come across rude people maybe having a bad day and I've had instructors I could not relate to. Its all very frustrating. Its sad to say the success rate at this college is 17%. But, then again this is an adult school. Nobodies going to call your house when your absent or hold a parent-teacher conference when your not doing your work. I am working on a Human Service degree and have enjoyed the ups and downs of my classes. The load was a little heavier in a few and I had to buckle down and utilize the tutorial, ETC, PASS, Computer lab and all other resources available. In all the those places I found the staff and student help extremely eager to be of service. The assistance was much appreciated. I am not speaking for this business itself, merely the college district's education quality. I have taken classes at Fresno, Clovis, and Reedley Community College, and I have had an absolutely deplorable time. I don't feel like I'm getting anything from the classes; I don't feel the staff is prepared to teach online, if at all. If you are going to teach college-level English, you should not make punctuation and grammatical errors consistently. If you are teaching a law class, you should not do it from inherent bias and perspective. If you are conducting an online course, you should not have to hold up a piece of paper because you don't know how to make a slide. It is said that Fresno City College is the first Community College in California. Registration to classes is simple and online, and they offer all kind of classes. I have literary spent a whole semester running back and forth filling our paperwork and checking to see if they’ve received my financial aid application. I took several courses at Merritt, initially thinking it would be easy, just because it's a community college. I was VERY mistaken. The courses I took were rigorous and the instructors had high standards of expectation. The curriculum was no skate. My experience there was great and I would recommend this college to anyone. The website is so complicated and ambiguous it takes at good half hour to find what you need. When you finally get their the function usually doesn't work! The campus signs and layout are horrible. This is my Story: Being an International Student at Santa Fe College is the worst thing that can happen to you. Besides that your tuition is 3 times more just for being an immigrant, they don't offer scholarships. Why we are not allow to get help? because we are just seem as a profit. Also, we do not get the benefit to choose how many classes we want to take because we are "required" to be full-time. We can only take one class online for semester. This post is about my tuition and what they did to me at Santa Fe. I apply for a student loan because I couldn't pay the ridiculous amount of money, but what happened is that the "amazing people" at financial aid didn't processed my loan, so my classes got drop. I talked with everyone at Santa Fe for help, even trying a payment plan but the last day to add/drop classes just passed. I brought all my papers signed of my loan to financial aid, and they told me that nothing can be done to help me. They just play with me sending me to person to person making lose my time and nobody helped me. Whenever I went to cashier's office and told what my situation was this lady after treating me horrible told me "we don't care about your situation, we just need the $6,000 today or you can start saying "goodbye" to your visa. I feel really glad about the help that they didn't give me, by the end of this semester I am going to be back in Venezuela because they did nothing to help me keep my visa status. SF College is nice and affordable for local kids; however, they are not at all equipped to handle international students' concerns. Staff that students interact on a day to day basis are made up of mostly underpaid student workers, and their answer to every question is a default "No". It is really frustrating. You can immediately see and feel the difference between this small state college and your typical large, internationally experienced university. Nonetheless, in-house faculty do a decent job teaching courses. I can't say the same about Santa Fe's adjunct instructors. Some are truly clueless (though it is not their fault; poor adjunct instructors are so underpaid that it made my jaw drop when I heard how much they make per semester). As a student who wants to actually learn the material, your best bet would be to register early for courses based on the instructors offering them. Overall, Santa Fe College is an affordable stepping stone to a larger University, such as their next door neighbor UF. I suppose it would also be a nice option for regional kids from lower to middle-income families. But that's about all the credit I can give to Santa Fe College. Culturally, it is lacking diversity. Went there in 2012 right after HS from Orlando. I went there to hopefully transfer to UF. The system failed me. The guidance counselors did nothing to guide me, I got depressed there and failed. I was a very good student in high school(top 5% with both IB and AP-full coursework) until 12th grade a personal event happened and I stopped attending and starting failing but still graduated. This is why I had to go to SF college as my gpa dropped to be able to to to UF. I had a 2030 on the SAT in HS as well. I was highly able to do well at SF but they failed me by not giving proper guidance or support and it ruined my whole college career as they didn’t accept my appeals for late withdrawal and I was stuck with a horrible GPA that ruined my life.Anonymous Someone

I'm a vet and am finishing up my first semester at Liberty. So far I have had nothing but good experiences. I was nervous about going back to school after being in service for years, but the transition has been fairly easy with all of the help lve received.My instructors are very personable and go out of their way to help me with any problems I may run into. Professors are very professional and, unlike many schools, encourage students to form their own opinions. I have never felt as though any political agendas or doctrines were being forced upon me. Non Christians are treated equally well as everyone else, and are even welcomed to challenge or question anything they may disagree with. Divinity professors are more than willing to listen to other opinions and will clearly explain anything a non believer might want to know about Christianity. The campus itself is beautiful and full of fun things to do besides schoolwork. I am actually learning, rather than simply connecting dots to get a degree and that is exactly what I hoped for. Since I've gone to the school I've got to see politicians such as Nigel Farage and Donald Trump Jr., musicians like Jeremy Camp, sports stars like Brett Favre, world class entrepreneurs, and experts such as economists who advised the president. I’ve got one year to go to graduate from this place😭 Being a student at this university has been quite a wonderful experience. To be honest I think it’s one of the it’s not the most state of the art schools in the world. It’s impossible to get bored here. I will say though one thing about this place is that if you come here on fire for Jesus then you’ll find people on fire for Jesus but if you come here to party then you’ll find the party people so make of it what you want. Yes there’s been some drama here in the past few years but there’s drama everywhere and Liberty has been able to manage it pretty well I’d say. I absolutely love every single professor that I’ve had here, they’ve gone above and beyond to help make sure that I get an education of quality. Set up a campus tour. It was 3 hours which entailed visiting the dorms and dining areas. To include the fitness and recreation center. As well the Jerry Falwell Library and Vines Center. We walked the campus for a few hours and then we rode the bus for the remainder of the tour. Everyone was friendly. The student tour guides did an excellent job. The campus was huge. It was well maintained. They have three dorm options. One to include apartments that house seven people. Freshmen are able to bring vehicles on campus. Wide selection of dining options. Okay school but professors suck! Good learning platform with Blackboard (easy to use & navigate). Professors are very picky & strict with grading. They act like they are from Harvard. Faculty is not professional & highly rude. They don't care about you learning or helping you succeed. Rather expect you to fail. Lots of errors & typos on quizzes. No live or recorded lectures. I highly recommend Hodges University! I enrolled in the fast track BS degree with 10 classes left to finish in Interdisciplinary Studies. I graduated 18 months later! All of my teachers were phenomenal and my counselor reached out to me at the beginning of each semester to enroll me in the correct classes to finish my degree program as quickly as possible. I applied to one of their online Master’s program and got accepted for the 2022 Fall term. Filled out everything, paid the app fee, paid for all of my official transcripts (this would have been my 4th degree), got to the advising appointment only to be told that all of my questions I needed to “look into on my own”….. I work in higher education and these are thing the advisor should have been able to answer. Then she tells me the code to look at classes after the appointment, which was odd, only to find out the two classes I was going to register for were full and she wasn’t even looking at them at the time of the appointment. This is not how advising is supposed to work. Since I have an existing Master’s I wanted to see if any of my credits could transfer in with a maximum of 6 credit hours. If classes wouldn’t transfer due to program alignment, that would have been fine. However, the reasoning was “ Since you did earn the degree with those courses, he doesn't feel that we can also use them to complete the MA degree.” I’m sorry, what??? Exceptional regional university. The staff and faculty generally seem to care a great deal about the opportunities for the students to learn and grow academically and personally. I thought this was a wonderful school, that is until Title IX (in my opinion) trumped up charges against me using REDICULOUSLY IRRELEVANT events to back up their claim. Great place to learn, with a safe environment. The grounds are well taken care of, and the staff is very friendly, as well as patient when teaching. Very well at allowing students to understand what is being taught, and provide all the basics when it comes to starting your college credits. The entering staff are knowledgeable in helping you find assistance in areas you aren't familiar with such as tuition, loans and grants. The book store has all the stuff you need to succeed. They have several cafes on campus. The student center is the campus hang out. They have pool tables ping pong and a wide variety of other clubs and activities to get involved in. The mini processing plant on site is a great hands on learning tool they have RIGHT THERE on campus. All of the professors are very knowledgeable and understanding. If you want to learn and earn college credits this is the place. They have an adult learning center for people to get their GED. They're performing arts center for people that like to perform or do arts. Like drawing and painting. Have a nursing program that is top notch. All your basic studies are covered by experience and helpful staff. They have all sorts of activities, and clubs. This cosmetology where they offer haircuts and manicures. They offer instrumentation as well as process technology. They have a judicial class for those that would like to learn about the criminal justice system. They do scrolling all year round even on weekends If you have a 9 to 5 job and can't make it to regular classes. There's athletic program basketball and volleyball, they have a swimming pool weight room and banquet halls for rent. They have several lecture halls on campus as well as outdoor picnic area or study areas. There are some campuses one in Baytown, McNair, and Liberty. So their service area can be reached. They also have helpful Access student resources answer questions about programs and are always willing to go that extra mile and help make student success their number one goal. They have campus security to keep you safe and well-lit areas for evening classes. They offer welding and logistics, also support a wide variety of students from all over the world. I must say, the teachers are helpful and the classes are small-yes- but the support staff for the college itself (business office, counselors office, financial aid, ect) are the absolute RUDEST people I have ever met! I work full time, so I try to do most of my business with them via Email, Telephone, or Fax. When you email any of the support departments, they NEVER reply back, once you call them and mention "I emailed y'all a week ago but I never got a response back…here is my question" they just give you the run around, transfering you to 3+ people just to get a vague answer. Just today, I got cut off by the business office when I simply asked if I could pay for tuition over the phone. The "counselors" in the counselors office don't even remotely help you with your degree planning, each one of them will tell you something different so you are basically left to figure it out yourself and hope you get it right. I have talked to all different kinds of directors/administrators about these issues and they NEVER seem to be resolved. Point to my review is this is a good college just to get a degree behind your name, but be prepared to hit a ton of roadblocks/red tape along the way.Kayla W

Love the school, very understanding teachers & other faculty! I graduated from here my first semester of my senior year in high school before deciding to attend UT! Everything was okay all the way up until the 2020 graduation parade. When announcing my name, the announcer made a very uncomfortable mark about my dads corvette mentioning “Nice car where’d you rent that for the weekend?” I didn’t really notice until my sister played her video back after the parade. The car wasn’t rented, that’s HIS CAR FULLY PAID FOR! I didn’t like what he said and if I could see him face to face again any day, I would tell him African Americans can have luxurious and nice things as well! Some comments you keep to yourself! Luckily, I’m more leveled headed than my father because he was going to be headed right back to Lee College! Other than this, I’ve had no problems.Fredaiza

I have graduated with five degrees from four different universities in Pittsburgh ranging from Bachelor to Doctorate degrees. I can honestly state that Duquesne was my favorite school. I received a higher quality of education and benefitted more from the smaller classes which are not offered by other schools. Most of my educators actually cared about their students and were not at all condescending (ok, there were a couple). Duquesne costs a bit more, but it was worth it. The campus is great. The classrooms; halls; and grounds are clean, traditional, and safe. My child chose to go to another school, but I would sleep better knowing that was living on campus at Duquesne rather than an apartment in Oakland. The only criticism I have is Duquesne has become more noticeably politically liberal than other Catholic schools. I’m ok with limited expression of personal liberal or conservative views, but I am disappointed when those views become a driver for the facility and administration to influence students. Some of those views have reached national attention which lowers my annual donations to the school.Jerry

We went for a campus tour today and absolutely fell in love with the campus. We are from the Pittsburgh area and I never expected the campus to be as big and charming as it is. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and the student:teacher ratio (14:1) with an average class size of 28 was a major bonus. The dorms are 2 bed frames with a desk and closet for each roommate with 2 drawers under the bed as well. They're spacious and clean. They have an amazing 4 floor workout building with every piece of equipment you could ever need! It truly is a hidden gem right in the downtown area. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city but still close enough to enjoy downtown amenities. I don't see how any other college could top this!!Melanie Phillips

A well known midsized eastern university. Good mix of commuter students and full time students living on campus. Known for programs in pharmacy. education, and music. I heard that USD is an excellent private university. They have highly accredited teaching, law, technology, language, environmental and psychology schools, as well as a number of others. I also heard that their physical education school is quite good. USD is one of our nation's top rated colleges in regards to higher education and just to get admitted, you must score fairly high on the SAT ( Taking the ACT can always helps too ) and presenting the admissions evaluation committee with a high school GPA that shows that you were in the top percentile of your graduating class is very beneficial; it also helps to have done some volunteer work and to have been on at least one or two high school committees. All of these combined together should help you gain admission to USD. This college is quite competitive-as are most of our best colleges nowadays. Most of USD's professors are seasoned-the best in our country-and very demanding; graduating in four years means a lot of hard work and can be a wearisome task and often taking a couple of summer session classes or a class or two during Christmas break can help one graduate within this time scale. They do offer scholarships however, these are difficult to get and student loans ( Federal Educational Grants can easily surpass fifty-thousand dollars a year! USD's tuition is at the high end of the scale, especially if you live off of campus ( The City of San Diego is amongst the ten highest priced "cost of living" metropolitan areas in the USA ). There are hundreds of nice condominiums, townhouses and apartments within the surrounding area however, the rental rates for a one to four bedroom unit start at about $900 to $1200 per room ( living together ) per month or about $2200 for a two bedroom townhouse/apartment, to $3500+ for a three to four bedroom ; I'm just giving you a general idea…it's a might expensive to live anywhere in San Diego. USD has many of the most beautifully designed buildings in San Diego; architectural masterpieces. Tourists who come to visit San Diego often include this private university in their sightseeing itinerary, as the photographic opportunities around this campus are simply marvelous; especially on a clear winter day from about early afternoon to sunset. They have a small visitors center, as you drive through their main entrance center and if you get lost, you should stop and ask a couple of students and they may be able to help you? There's a lot to see, including San Diego's famed Tecalote State Park, which lies just below the north side of this university.charles chiles

The campus is pretty. The teachers, at least those who are fluent in English, are mediocre, and those whose English language skills are very poor, are token so this campus can brag about being diverse. The dorms are so noisy that it is impossible to do any work in one's own room or get any sleep before 3 a.m. The people responsible for policing the dorms are too lazy and callously indifferent to do anything, and no matter how many complaints are made, it is a nightmare to live in the dirty, smelly and horribly noisy dorms. The religious classes, which are mandatory, are a total waste of time and not based on any accurate facts or historical accuracy. The head of the Student Health Center is dishonest and harmful, willing to smear any student she takes a hatred to. There are no responsible administrative officers to be found if you have a problem. This is not the place if you care about getting a solid and admirable education.Susan Lea

The University accepted my son to the credential program August 2011. After 2 years and more than $32000 in tuition he is not being allowed to do his student teaching because, in the opinion of some professors, he lacks the skills they require. These professionals (who demand that the credential candidates be able to reach and teach all students no matter what their learning styles or disabilities) should be knowledgeable enough to bring out the best in a young man who has wanted to be a teacher since in the seventh grade he was chosen by his teacher to tutor other students in reading. The professionals who are standing in the way of his dream need to evaluate their own teaching. What did they do to ensure my son's success in their program? What can they teach others when they themselves have failed as teachers?Mark Leonard

If you are a parent thinking of sending your kid here, or a student thinking about attending….DON’T!! Unless you are a parent that likes getting calls once a week that they just heard gunshots or someone they knew was robbed or had their car broken into. Or if you’re a student that doesn’t want to leave campus without wearing a bulletproof vest. They might as well pick this place up and drop it in the middle of Baghdad. Your kid would probably safer. Oh and good luck hoping the KCPD would ever patrol the area around this place and risk their lives. Lol! They even know to stay away.Dominic Foley

Many of my professors didn’t take me seriously because I didn’t follow their beliefs. In one of their classes I failed because, “since you didn’t grow up in a catholic family you’ll never get it.” I was trying as hard as I could, SI’s, tutors, everything, but as soon as the professor knew I was atheist I felt extremely ostracized, not only from the student body but from the staff as well. Rockhurst has a beautiful campus in Kansas City. It is a smaller college campus and it is located close to the Plaza. Although I haven't personally taken classes, I have been told it is a good experience. They are partnering with St Luke's for the nursing program. The security officers that I've encountered have been super friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend checking out this college.Kimber Mata
