The housing staff is horrible, they have put 2 charges on my account and they admitted to not knowing how they got my name however they refused to take it off even when the camera showed I never stayed, 3 weeks later I spoke to Hr for them to remove it and they did it the same day. The other one was removed 2 weeks later after the payment date. I would also recommend you bring in your own food or check it before leaving the dinning hall. I found so much mold and was served under cooked to many times. The drinks apply as well check the ice whole before u get if there is black stuff around it use the other machines.(not sure if they are gonna clean up before the fall but there is also mold in between the soda machines) Not only the dinning side but be careful with the soda/juice in the deli side the they both are spoiled. And check the expiration date of each snack you do choose to take I had 3 month old jello and I still can’t get that’s fussy taste out my mouth. Either side will not hesitate to sell old milk or old food and bunch it all up to be given out on the weekends. There is a wëëd problem at this school as well so be careful because if anyone in your dorm doesn’t it you maybe be accused of doing it as well by the campus police. Not on to the professors, you need to hold some of their hand and walk them three days the grading process. I had 3 professors(1 was in person and the other 2 was online) last semester wait til the end of the semester to grade everyone from my midterms to out introductions at the beginning. For online teachers make sure you double check their comments after they grade and read up on stuff ahead of time so u can message them early because they don’t respond to message in a timely manner. Navarro College was STELLAR! As a former Bulldog, I'm proud to have called this school my home. Professors are knowledgeable and interesting individuals, the staff are all charming and helpful, and the atmosphere of the entire facility is one of safety and growth. Plus, Dr. Fagan (the man in charge of it all) is incredibly personable and makes a point of greeting and interacting with students every chance he gets! The staff at the Corsicana campus are very rude. Upon inquiring about something the registrar didn’t know about; she went on to yell at me over the counter while the lobby was full of other students. There are only a handful of instructors that are dedicated and willing to see their students succeed. After all we pay to go there and I believe that the students need to treated with a bit of respect. The Cashiers are generally nice and will help you out.Nethmal Perera

Try calling financial aid or student accounts and you know how living in purgatory feels like. I suggest you’ll go there physically even if you’re infected with Covid19 as you have a better chance of reaching them in person. If I could give this university a zero star, I would do it. As an international student, I have millions of terrible experiences with this university. The graduate school and the international students office have been really really rude. They will try to frustrate you using any way they could. Also, the insurance requirement for international students have been so unfair. They will charge you lots lots of money for the insurance for the summer time even though you are not enrolled in any classes during the summer. Also, the staff working in the graduate school have been so rude and know very little. Some of the graduate and undergraduate classes have been so meaningless and do not worth the money.yaqing cao

Atm a lot of construction is going around the university. Either adding new school building, dinning areas, or apartments around the school. The gym is great, great gym equipment, indoor track, and classes that you can sign up for if you do not like working out alone. Building are easy to locate but if you have trouble finding them people will be nice to direct to the correct locations. Great place to learn, with a safe environment. The grounds are well taken care of, and the staff is very friendly, as well as patient when teaching. Very well at allowing students to understand what is being taught, and provide all the basics when it comes to starting your college credits. The entering staff are knowledgeable in helping you find assistance in areas you aren't familiar with such as tuition, loans and grants. The book store has all the stuff you need to succeed. They have several cafes on campus. The student center is the campus hang out. They have pool tables ping pong and a wide variety of other clubs and activities to get involved in. The mini processing plant on site is a great hands on learning tool they have RIGHT THERE on campus. All of the professors are very knowledgeable and understanding. If you want to learn and earn college credits this is the place. They have an adult learning center for people to get their GED. They're performing arts center for people that like to perform or do arts. Like drawing and painting. Have a nursing program that is top notch. All your basic studies are covered by experience and helpful staff. They have all sorts of activities, and clubs. This cosmetology where they offer haircuts and manicures. They offer instrumentation as well as process technology. They have a judicial class for those that would like to learn about the criminal justice system. They do scrolling all year round even on weekends If you have a 9 to 5 job and can't make it to regular classes. There's athletic program basketball and volleyball, they have a swimming pool weight room and banquet halls for rent. They have several lecture halls on campus as well as outdoor picnic area or study areas. There are some campuses one in Baytown, McNair, and Liberty. So their service area can be reached. They also have helpful Access student resources answer questions about programs and are always willing to go that extra mile and help make student success their number one goal. They have campus security to keep you safe and well-lit areas for evening classes. They offer welding and logistics, also support a wide variety of students from all over the world. I must say, the teachers are helpful and the classes are small-yes- but the support staff for the college itself (business office, counselors office, financial aid, ect) are the absolute RUDEST people I have ever met! I work full time, so I try to do most of my business with them via Email, Telephone, or Fax. When you email any of the support departments, they NEVER reply back, once you call them and mention "I emailed y'all a week ago but I never got a response back…here is my question" they just give you the run around, transfering you to 3+ people just to get a vague answer. Just today, I got cut off by the business office when I simply asked if I could pay for tuition over the phone. The "counselors" in the counselors office don't even remotely help you with your degree planning, each one of them will tell you something different so you are basically left to figure it out yourself and hope you get it right. I have talked to all different kinds of directors/administrators about these issues and they NEVER seem to be resolved. Point to my review is this is a good college just to get a degree behind your name, but be prepared to hit a ton of roadblocks/red tape along the way.Kayla W

Love the school, very understanding teachers & other faculty! I graduated from here my first semester of my senior year in high school before deciding to attend UT! Everything was okay all the way up until the 2020 graduation parade. When announcing my name, the announcer made a very uncomfortable mark about my dads corvette mentioning “Nice car where’d you rent that for the weekend?” I didn’t really notice until my sister played her video back after the parade. The car wasn’t rented, that’s HIS CAR FULLY PAID FOR! UPDATE: I was told that career services had been developed since 2014 so I began my masters here… they only changed the name of the website. They did get a new president which I have no earthly idea what he has done because this is the biggest waste of money. You still get the same answer in career services or any department there, “go check online.” It is sad for the great professors here that all the current student reviews mentioned. They deserve better and so do alumni. Past post (2014) The reason I gave it two stars is strictly because of the good professors there. As alumni I will even admit, this school has absolutely nothing else going for it. They have untrained teenage kids handling all your paperwork with HORRIFIC customer service. The most common phrase you hear when you interrupt their cellphone time by asking them a question is, it's online. The career services department is very underdeveloped, do not expect assistance finding a career after graduation. The most you will get is help developing a Tarleton version of linkedin. This school is a joke for serious adults and anyone wanting to be more than a teacher or nurse in a small town.Barret Turner

Honestly, the school is seemingly unorganized and I feel like the dining hall faculty are more friendly to the students rather than faculty who work in the administration parts of the school itself. Parts such as Advising services, housing, or Financial aid for example. (Although not all faculty of course but it seems to be more rude staff than you'd think). Some students have a problem with parking, resulting in parking in no parking zones. The website wasn't helpful to me at all when I was registering. They make you watch videos instead of putting steps on the same page. Rates for housing is pretty ridiculous especially since the meal plan is separate. In my opinion I feel that if the housing rates is going to be 3,000+ they should at least give you the meal plan instead of having to pay a extra 2,000 for that. I don't feel like the school or administration or whatever you want to call it are trying to be very helpful of anything so I don't really feel very secure I should say.BRangerBot

Amazing school…. I am considered a distance learner here at the satellite campus in Waco Tx… I completed my bachelor's in criminal justice August 2011 I enjoyed the curriculum so much & my instructors that I have returned to complete my master's degree here, set to graduate December 2017 (graduated May 2018 with Masters of Criminal Justice)… for those students who say they did not or have not had a pleasant experience I do not possibly understand why, the staff is always helpful & if not ask for a supervisor….education at a university level is not handed to you it is a must that one grasp a understanding of their learning environment & set realistic goals! I appreciate Rasmussen University for having an abundance of resources and many professors and other staff members who demonstrate they want students to succeed. I especially have enjoyed being a peer educator, being privileged to work with Tammy Hopps who is an excellent supervisor and leader, and also being able to work with other peer educators who care for their peers as much as I do. I transferred from a local state college, which I considered sticking with to save money, but in reality, not much is saved when you compare the timeframe for graduation. At the state college it would take me an extra 2 whole years to receive my BSN, whereas at Rasmussen I save 2 years of time because of their second-degree BSN option. I am very pleased with the quality of technology – at the state school blackboard and other resources were slow and did not work as well on my cell phone, whereas with Rasmussen I can easily access everything I need from my phone when I'm on the go. It's inspiring to see so many single parents and married parents in school, some of which also work full time or part time like myself while completing their degree. I had such high hopes when enrolling at this school. However my experience hasn't been favorable at all. I am a current student and I was disappointed because even though I was able to enroll and start classes I really felt unsupported on this journey. I'm realizing Rasmussen may not be the school for me. I REALLY thought I would be supported and encouraged. I was made to feel that Rasmussen would be rooting for me through my academic journey. Instead I am bombarded with emails and calls telling me what I already know… I owe money. No calls or emails about how I can be helped to budget so that I can pay more toward the balance. I'm only being told: what I owe, to get the balance down to $500-$1000 and to take out loans; which will only put me in debt and it's too early to be taking out loans when I've been in school since September of 2021 and have 2 more years. Also this school doesn't cater to single parents, limited income and individuals that HAVE to work. This school ONLY has day classes for the nursing program and as I said before I HAVE to work full time.Sherria Clark

I called to get information, He had no patience and told me Not to proceed a career in Nursing because it was Not for me. This was a university that I was so excited to be a part of and be a graduate of Nursing. The director needs to be Fired because he is giving the university a bad reputation. I love Columbus State and this is why: Before Columbus State: Growing up, I was never interested in the information taught in school, because I did not feel like it was applicable to the real world. After a year at a private college, I was originally apprehensive to restart college at any college. I was also scared of a community college. I grew up in Michigan, and I felt like our local community colleges had negative stigmas attached to them. Luckily, my older brother took me into the application office in Delaware, OH to take the entrance exam. I believe I tested out of an english and/or a math class. While at Columbus State: I would like to note that I always attended C-State as I held a part time job (10-20 hours a week). I originally attended an EMT-B class at Columbus State. The class was more challenging than I had anticipated and was pretty time consuming. I received a B in this course, but found employment immediately in the field and felt confident in my skills. A year later, I returned to C-State with the desires to go to nursing school. Thanks to ample meetings with advisors in Health and Human Services, I decided to take some prerequisite nursing classes as there was a waiting list to apply for their nursing program (while I worked part time as an EMT-B). During this year, I found more confidence in my work and studies, feelings of support and encouragement from staff, and rewards from hard work. I was also able to sign up easily for academic accommodations for the first time in my life! I loved my time at Columbus State within this year! I never thought I would love school or receive my first 4.0 GPA in the spring and summer semesters. For the first time, school finally felt fulfilling for me. After Attending Columbus State: I decided to leave C-State after a full academic year, and I pursued a BSN degree through another local school. I often look back at my time at C-State and regret that I did not take more classes here while saving a decent amount of money! I would suggest night classes if you are willing and able. I found that students were more likely to be hard working, more mature, disciplined, and also employed. I also found professors who taught night classes were often from OSU and more understanding. Generally my teachers were all very competent, funny, and held experience in the world. The only negative experience that I found was dealing with C-Stat's Police department staff and accessing their gym/locker room. Students must sign up manually for the gym locker rooms every semester at C-State's Police department and then wait for several days for your card to be accepted from security/police. This system seems dated and non-productive. I feel like this process should be easily automated. This issue led to a negative experience I had with a police officer that identified as Sergeant Diamond. I felt like this officer escalated my personal situation while being disrespectful and patronizing. Another time I was eating a meal in my car between classes when a police car pulled up to me and asked why I was parked between two spots in an empty parking lot and then asked me to pick a spot. I'm sure the police department deals with things they don't want to. I could have been lucky and experienced two poor attitudes on hard days, but I do not feel like the police department is fulfilling their mission that states they want to provide "exceptional customer service" for their students based on my only two experiences with them. I would take a look at how the police staff is trained at C-State.Connor Hill

I have enjoyed Columbus State and majority of the people I’ve met here while on track to my BA but this college needs some serious restructuring. The biggest thing I wish Cstate would look into is their faculty. When I go to ratemyprofessor.com and see many of them at a 1 to 2 star rating, that concerns me. I have personally had good and bad professors here and majority of the good ones were adjunct professors, the bad ended up being tenured faculty. I wish the college would look into the gripes students have and start to question whether or not they should be hiring adjunct professors to replace them. The only other major issue I’ve had is from advisors. The point of the advisor is to advise the student on their education path, but when I have a genuine question or concern, interrupting/having a snarky attitude doesn’t come off as professional to me. One last thing, please talk with the finance department about putting a budget together for another parking garage. I don’t go during peak hours anymore but when I did parking was atrocious. It will be 6 weeks this semester (Spring 2019) before CSCC releases financial aid refunds. I cannot believe they get away with this! OSU is 9 days after the start of the semester! Some people rely on these excess funds to survive another semester of school! This should be illegal and I’m pretty sure it is because according to federal financial aid funds are to be released up to a max of 14 days after the start of a semester! Insane to make people wait 6 weeks+ to receive their refund. Also, parking is obnoxious here any time of day. It also seems to me that each department does not have a good linear structure of teaching so each professor is just kind of doing their own thing whichever way they feel like doing it. Some classes are too long some are too short. It really feels like no one is in control here it’s just a free for all I guess. Employees are not friendly in any way shape or form. Why do I fill out a PDF to get a transcript sent to another college? Most Colleges (Including Austin Community College and the Alamo College District) have a web application that you use to request your transcript. You can pay through the app and then the tool sends the transcript. You staff told me to fill out a PDF and send it in and will take one to two weeks unless I want to come in and pick it up. It is 2022 going on 2023, maybe you should look into that. It will most likely reduce to work on your staff.Jon Wachter

The staff is very irrespectful, and many professors try to hard to make the college an experience just like the bigger universities. They make you wait so long and never respect the hours they have posted. They open when they feel and close when they feel. And don't even care for the students. I transferred here because it offered a program I wanted to take. The first time, the class was canceled due to there being not enough sign ups. Fine. That was Spring and now we’re in the Fall semester. Once again, the class was canceled. It was canceled 1 week before the 2nd session was to start. I now only have 2 classes (a 3rd one was dropped because it overlapped the class that was eventually canceled). My teacher is cool so, no complaints. My online class…. it takes my teacher 2-3 weeks just to grade your work. I’ve done online classes at other schools and was graded within the week. I’m going back to my previous school. Just going to have to change my concentration.Jarmaine M

I chose this college because it was ranked as one of the top ten community colleges in California for online courses. Diversity is great, many certificates and degrees offered, and the counselors I’ve spoke with over the phone were polite and helpful. They wait until more than a month into the semester to process student loans – and the form should specify that it’s for the year. I filled it out thinking it was only for the semester. No return emails from financial aid in the matter. Overall I would recommend WLAC, but their admissions and financial aid offices need to work on responding to students.Jason G

The school was okay. The admission office is terrible. I enjoyed the professors they have great ones. Working here was bad there’s nepotism and favoritism allowed. buses and parking are nightmares here. No parking or you will have to pay everytime you park including weekend whereas other schools often free. Buses always late and full. The school not even tried to get more buses. Also, there is 40mins wait between 2 buses. Finally, unequal opportunity for on cambus job or help. We came to many departments and asked for help but they rarely tried to solve but kept saying we could not do anything. And we came back multiple time and the other did help us out. I enjoyed my time at UNT, made some great friends, and I have good memories. However, this University is not longer a place of higher education but a political activist training ground. I never thought that I’d see the day that The First Amendment would not be honored at UNT, but that is what has happened. And to think I have a degree in Criminal Justice from there is similar to being trained as an EMT by Dr. Kevorkian. The Grad program is a joke. I've never met more people incompetent of doing their job. The undergrad school should conduct training with the grad school to get them up to par. Because they dropped the ball, I now get stuck with their issues. Also the elderly lady working in billing should take a phone etiquette class. We are in 2022. There shouldn't be this many issues consistently happening. Yet, the undergrad side was on top of every single aspect. I am an international student came here to study masters in technology management program. Firstly the program " Masters in Technology Management" doesn't have anything tech in the course. Most of the syllabus revolves around drones, project management and leadership. The program doesn't have any internship or CPT which is a huge disadvantage. There are no scholarships available for this course. This is more like a mini PHD where in you have to do so much research on several topics which are absolutely waste and have no relevance in the practical world. Neither is this degree valued for getting a job. The professors are only bothered about having research in APA format and doing coursework like a research with no relevance to the practical corporate world. As an international student, i took this course with a hope to get some practical exposure like internship and getting placed in a technology company. But i have wasted all my TIME, MONEY and EFFORT on this useless course. The professors are very much involved in their research work and least interested in teaching or helping students be prepared for corporate world.neelu B

The university is great small classes, great environment and accessible online school. The staff on the other hand is terrible. I emailed my advisor in regards to some credits missing on my transcript and its been 2 months and still haven't heard from her. I called her, left her some voicemails and still no answer. I took 3 online classes and it would take days sometimes week for the professors to respond. I chose to stay because I'm already enrolled but would not recommend it to other students. I absolutely love this school ! I recently transferred her from a community college and I couldn't be happier. The professors really focus on the students they are all looking for you to succeed. They're are also tons of student organizations, events, and guest speakers plus a ton more benefits like a fitness center with a pool, a track, a rock climbing wall and a bunch more, they're is also free counseling and free health care (well it's part of tuition ) but it's amazing. This school is literally the worst, they take all day in the advising office and registration office. They will have one or two people helping more than 20 people and you would think that would make them have a sense of urgency but they do not. They all act as if they don’t feel like helping you and move so damn slow. I received 2 parking tickets during the time I have attended this school because two hours in a meter is not even enough. The best advisor is Shannon, the rest of them act like they don’t care and will not give you any guidance when your new to college, some will over talk you and not even pay attention or listen to what you are saying to them. This school will literally make you not want to attend college at all with how difficult they make the process. I feel like putting a bad review I’m currently trying to see a councilor here at El Centro I came Thursday before 5pm and they told me it was closed but on the website they close at 5pm. Come to find out today a staff member told me they closed an hour early because they were having a spring break party. Today I’m trying to speak to an advisor I’m the only one here sitting in the lobby still waiting for someone to help me. I used to love this school but honestly service has gone down the drain. I applied here and got in but communicating with my admissions counselor was very difficult. I asked her several times about financial aid and if I would receive any. When I DID get a hold of her she just told me that she's been very busy and to call back later. Which I did, she did not answer, and instead of answering my question she left me and my high school counselor a voice mail asking us to call her once again later. I am getting ready to graduate in May with honors from the AAS Paralegal Program at CALS and have had such a positive experience. I am earning my degree online and as a busy working mom and grandma, I appreciate the accessibility and flexibility. The teachers do an amazing and thorough job, while the curriculum provides a solid educational foundation in Paralegal Studies. Don't get me wrong, it's work, but the harder you work, the brighter your future. Everyone I have dealt with at CALS has been so pleasant and supportive. I want to say a big thank you to Sarah Casey, the school's Office Manager. She keeps us all organized and gets us the materials we need. Plus she's really, really nice. Eric Happe, the Director of Distance Education does a great job with keeping the classes rolling and I really appreciate his friendliness and accessibility. She polished up my resume, gave me advice on how to answer tough questions in an interview, encouraged me, and was sincerely devoted to finding just the right job for me. I decided to study with the Center for Advanced Legal Studies to earn my Paralegal Certificate and earn my Associate in Advanced Legal Studies. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Experienced attorneys teach the course material in various fields, and you learn material that will help you succeed in a real-life law practice. The assignment and study materials are easy to understand yet challenging. The teachers go above and beyond to offer their assistance if needed. They will work with you, again and again, to thoroughly understand the course material so you may achieve your best grade possible. Tami Riggs, the Director of Outreach and Career Services, was great to work with. I sent her my resume, and she helped me update it to be more concise and current. She then submitted my resume out to a few firms. It took only two weeks, and I had multiple offers from multiple firms. I was in control of my future this time, and boy, did that feel good. I chose an excellent firm with full-time hours, good pay, and benefits. 2021 is going to be a better and successful year due to CALS and my hard work. I’ve been doing Penn Foster online schooling for almost a whole year now. I’ve found this online experience a great one. They are very helpful in all ways possible. I’ve called a few time and their stuff is helpful and kind. They help so much with the questions you ask and reassurance you need. You go at your own past, fast, or as slow as you want. I’ve struggled so much in the past with schools , I’ve been to over 6+ schools and I started at the point have an IEP/ taking classes for it. Penn Foster online High School, has helped me understand so much and I love how I can learn at my own past. The price is also reasonable. I can stay up till 3AM and do my work. I am the mother of two students at Penn Foster who just graduated. They are 15 and 17 years of age. They were placed in Penn Foster due to being bullied by teachers at their local school. My oldest enrolled with 0 credits in Oct of 2019 and my youngest enrolled with 7 credits in June of 2020. My oldest graduated Dec 07, 2020 and my youngest graduated Dec 23. 2020. They loved that they could go as slow or as fast as the wanted. They loved not having a schedule or having to have any interactions with teachers. Their overall experience was great. I have one more student, my 16 year old step-daughter working on it now. She's 41% done. We also have a 14 year old who will be enrolling once done with 8th grade. Although this is a Nationally Accredited school most Regionally Accredited colleges and university will be able to transfer most of your credits. That is if you are taking a degree program and not a diploma program. After obtaining some super computer skills from Remington College my career path has changed completely. Remington College can give a person the skills necessary to go out and dominate in the workforce over those that simply have a general education background from some American public school. I would definitely recommend Remington College to those that think traditional universities will not work for them.Daniel White

I’m so glad I made the decision to continue my education with ACI. If I could give them more stars I would. I dropped out of high school and waited till turned 18 and got my GED . I started my first semester at dcccd when Covid hit. I was really bummed but still very motivated to continue my education. When I learned I’d be taking summer 2020 completely online I knew there was a chance I might struggle at the beginning but who wouldn’t ? That’s why there’s available help from your instructors. So I took the courses and failed miserably. I lacked the help and support I needed and deserved at DCCCD. I truly believed community college was my only option for a very long time. I was in the first cohort for the LVN/LPN program at ACI, and it was so definitely worth it! My experience though, was quite different from many of my peers as I was pregnant through out almost the entire program from beginning to end. Even though I had every odd against me, every one of my instructors did everything they could to ensure my success and I can never thank this administration enough for that. I graduated in October along with my peers, and I just found out that I passed the Texas state board exam, so I am officially an LVN/LPN! I allowed Varghese Summerset to take me under their wing and fight for my freedom under the suspicion of a DWI charge in Johnson county. I feel two stars is all the service was worth. Communication wasn’t the best. My arraignment was the first face to face interaction with my attorney, which he was late too. I was also told from my attorney that Johnson county is across the board no matter the circumstances of a DWI case. Therefore, everyone charged in Johnson county with a DWI is offered the same plea bargain regardless of the scenario. I do think Varghese Summerset has an excellent legal team and I do not completely fault the firm for the outcome. Johnson county has a reputation for being more authoritarian than other counties and their wasn’t much my attorney could have changed. Therefore, I primarily write this review to warn others that Varghese Summerset is not worth the $6,000 I paid them. Instead go with someone cheaper or free if you’re charged in Johnson county with a DUI/DWI.Caleb Cook

YOU NEED MR.KEATING ON YOUR TEAM. I was dealing with a possible probation revocation, I spoke with Mr.Keating about how I wanted go forward with my probation and he explained all the possible scenarios that could happen and answered any questions I had. He has great patience, very understanding, doesn’t make you feel judged, and overall makes you feel comfortable which then builds confidence with your choice of choosing him to represent you. He’s very honest with how he feels an outcome will play out and let’s you decide whether or not you want to take route. My probation was going ideal until my probation officer filed the motion to revoke me earlier than expected, I ended up having a warrant for my arrest. Mr.Keating came up with a solution to keep me from going to jail (as I have 2 kids dependent on me) and that required me to step into the courthouse full of officers. I honestly was very hesitant but I trusted him and I walked out of the courtroom discharged from my probation a month earlier than my intended date! I also adore his paralegal Robin! She is truly amazing, she’s has great communication, great response time, and helped me feel comfortable and at ease with an undesirable situation!
