The housing staff is horrible, they have put 2 charges on my account and they admitted to not knowing how they got my name however they refused to take it off even when the camera showed I never stayed, 3 weeks later I spoke to Hr for them to remove it and they did it the same day. The other one was removed 2 weeks later after the payment date. I would also recommend you bring in your own food or check it before leaving the dinning hall. I found so much mold and was served under cooked to many times. The drinks apply as well check the ice whole before u get if there is black stuff around it use the other machines.(not sure if they are gonna clean up before the fall but there is also mold in between the soda machines) Not only the dinning side but be careful with the soda/juice in the deli side the they both are spoiled. And check the expiration date of each snack you do choose to take I had 3 month old jello and I still can’t get that’s fussy taste out my mouth. Either side will not hesitate to sell old milk or old food and bunch it all up to be given out on the weekends. There is a wëëd problem at this school as well so be careful because if anyone in your dorm doesn’t it you maybe be accused of doing it as well by the campus police. Not on to the professors, you need to hold some of their hand and walk them three days the grading process. I had 3 professors(1 was in person and the other 2 was online) last semester wait til the end of the semester to grade everyone from my midterms to out introductions at the beginning. For online teachers make sure you double check their comments after they grade and read up on stuff ahead of time so u can message them early because they don’t respond to message in a timely manner. That is all that I’ve experienced in my first year at Navarro College. I hope they get some stuff fixed and be better for the next first yearsCupcake_skull

Navarro College was STELLAR! As a former Bulldog, I'm proud to have called this school my home. Professors are knowledgeable and interesting individuals, the staff are all charming and helpful, and the atmosphere of the entire facility is one of safety and growth. Plus, Dr. Fagan (the man in charge of it all) is incredibly personable and makes a point of greeting and interacting with students every chance he gets! The staff at the Corsicana campus are very rude. Upon inquiring about something the registrar didn’t know about; she went on to yell at me over the counter while the lobby was full of other students. There are only a handful of instructors that are dedicated and willing to see their students succeed. After all we pay to go there and I believe that the students need to treated with a bit of respect. The Cashiers are generally nice and will help you out.Nethmal Perera

Try calling financial aid or student accounts and you know how living in purgatory feels like. One hour of waiting on the line is typical and if you wanna use the outdated mymav website to get help without calling them, good luck 😉 The number in the picture below belongs to student accounts department who will drop you from all your classes when u owe money so you need speed dealing with them. I suggest you’ll go there physically even if you’re infected with Covid19 as you have a better chance of reaching them in person. If I could give this university a zero star, I would do it. As an international student, I have millions of terrible experiences with this university. The graduate school and the international students office have been really really rude. They will try to frustrate you using any way they could. Also, the insurance requirement for international students have been so unfair. They will charge you lots lots of money for the insurance for the summer time even though you are not enrolled in any classes during the summer. Also, the staff working in the graduate school have been so rude and know very little. Some of the graduate and undergraduate classes have been so meaningless and do not worth the money.yaqing cao

Atm a lot of construction is going around the university. Either adding new school building, dinning areas, or apartments around the school. The gym is great, great gym equipment, indoor track, and classes that you can sign up for if you do not like working out alone. Building are easy to locate but if you have trouble finding them people will be nice to direct to the correct locations. Great place to learn, with a safe environment. The grounds are well taken care of, and the staff is very friendly, as well as patient when teaching. Very well at allowing students to understand what is being taught, and provide all the basics when it comes to starting your college credits. The entering staff are knowledgeable in helping you find assistance in areas you aren't familiar with such as tuition, loans and grants. The book store has all the stuff you need to succeed. They have several cafes on campus. The student center is the campus hang out. They have pool tables ping pong and a wide variety of other clubs and activities to get involved in. The mini processing plant on site is a great hands on learning tool they have RIGHT THERE on campus. All of the professors are very knowledgeable and understanding. If you want to learn and earn college credits this is the place. They have an adult learning center for people to get their GED. They're performing arts center for people that like to perform or do arts. Like drawing and painting. Have a nursing program that is top notch. All your basic studies are covered by experience and helpful staff. They have all sorts of activities, and clubs. This cosmetology where they offer haircuts and manicures. They offer instrumentation as well as process technology. They have a judicial class for those that would like to learn about the criminal justice system. They do scrolling all year round even on weekends If you have a 9 to 5 job and can't make it to regular classes. There's athletic program basketball and volleyball, they have a swimming pool weight room and banquet halls for rent. They have several lecture halls on campus as well as outdoor picnic area or study areas. There are some campuses one in Baytown, McNair, and Liberty. So their service area can be reached. They also have helpful Access student resources answer questions about programs and are always willing to go that extra mile and help make student success their number one goal. They have campus security to keep you safe and well-lit areas for evening classes. They offer welding and logistics, also support a wide variety of students from all over the world. I must say, the teachers are helpful and the classes are small-yes- but the support staff for the college itself (business office, counselors office, financial aid, ect) are the absolute RUDEST people I have ever met! I work full time, so I try to do most of my business with them via Email, Telephone, or Fax. When you email any of the support departments, they NEVER reply back, once you call them and mention "I emailed y'all a week ago but I never got a response back…here is my question" they just give you the run around, transfering you to 3+ people just to get a vague answer. Just today, I got cut off by the business office when I simply asked if I could pay for tuition over the phone. The "counselors" in the counselors office don't even remotely help you with your degree planning, each one of them will tell you something different so you are basically left to figure it out yourself and hope you get it right. I have talked to all different kinds of directors/administrators about these issues and they NEVER seem to be resolved. Point to my review is this is a good college just to get a degree behind your name, but be prepared to hit a ton of roadblocks/red tape along the way.Kayla W

Love the school, very understanding teachers & other faculty! I graduated from here my first semester of my senior year in high school before deciding to attend UT! Everything was okay all the way up until the 2020 graduation parade. When announcing my name, the announcer made a very uncomfortable mark about my dads corvette mentioning “Nice car where’d you rent that for the weekend?” I didn’t really notice until my sister played her video back after the parade. The car wasn’t rented, that’s HIS CAR FULLY PAID FOR! I didn’t like what he said and if I could see him face to face again any day, I would tell him African Americans can have luxurious and nice things as well! Some comments you keep to yourself! I have been attending Texas Wesleyan since the Spring 2018 semester with a semester break after my first one. This school has changed my life. I've seen some of the other reviews and claims that it is a "liberal university… brainwashing their students," or that it is "too expensive" and "not worth the price." From my experience here, none of that is true. To start with the first claim, what happens here inside the classroom is that the professors, both liberal and conservative, require their students to provide evidence for their claims when they hand out assignments about controversial and non-controversial topics. That is not brainwashing; it is teaching students how to think for themselves, and in a society devoted to freedom, one cannot be free if they cannot think for themselves and question what they've been taught. As to the other claims about the price of the school, yes, this private university is more expensive than other schools in the area. However, what you are getting when you pay for these classes is a much smaller class size than any other school that I know if in DFW. This is extremely helpful for all students that attend and are willing to take advantage of professor office hours and the ability to ask questions in the middle of class. It only takes a willingness to use the resources available, resources we pay for, to be successful. With that in mind, tuition does go up, as it does at every college and university, but Texas Wesleyan goes out of its way to find grants, scholarships, and other types of tuition assistance for their students. There is a lot of care and love put into every aspect of what this school does and I wouldn't trade it for any other school in the metroplex.Steven Leach

Choose another school. They charge way too much and do nothing to better the student living quarters. Have old dirty washers and dryers. Clogged sinks. Took too long to set dates for graduation ceremonies. Literally didn’t have the times until about 4 wks prior to graduation. Very unorganized. Maintenance never responds to or fixes repair requests. buses and parking are nightmares here. No parking or you will have to pay everytime you park including weekend whereas other schools often free. Buses always late and full. The school not even tried to get more buses. Also, there is 40mins wait between 2 buses. Finally, unequal opportunity for on cambus job or help. We came to many departments and asked for help but they rarely tried to solve but kept saying we could not do anything. And we came back multiple time and the other did help us out. I enjoyed my time at UNT, made some great friends, and I have good memories. However, this University is not longer a place of higher education but a political activist training ground. I never thought that I’d see the day that The First Amendment would not be honored at UNT, but that is what has happened. And to think I have a degree in Criminal Justice from there is similar to being trained as an EMT by Dr. Kevorkian. The Grad program is a joke. I've never met more people incompetent of doing their job. The undergrad school should conduct training with the grad school to get them up to par. Because they dropped the ball, I now get stuck with their issues. Also the elderly lady working in billing should take a phone etiquette class. We are in 2022. There shouldn't be this many issues consistently happening. Yet, the undergrad side was on top of every single aspect. This school is literally the worst, they take all day in the advising office and registration office. They will have one or two people helping more than 20 people and you would think that would make them have a sense of urgency but they do not. They all act as if they don’t feel like helping you and move so damn slow. I received 2 parking tickets during the time I have attended this school because two hours in a meter is not even enough. The best advisor is Shannon, the rest of them act like they don’t care and will not give you any guidance when your new to college, some will over talk you and not even pay attention or listen to what you are saying to them. This school will literally make you not want to attend college at all with how difficult they make the process. I had a meeting and asked for help and she said she couldn't help me for some reason…I ended up texting & emailing people for help but they eighter didn't reply or said they were going to help me but then ended up not communicating back. I feel like putting a bad review I’m currently trying to see a councilor here at El Centro I came Thursday before 5pm and they told me it was closed but on the website they close at 5pm. Come to find out today a staff member told me they closed an hour early because they were having a spring break party. I am getting ready to graduate in May with honors from the AAS Paralegal Program at CALS and have had such a positive experience. I am earning my degree online and as a busy working mom and grandma, I appreciate the accessibility and flexibility. The teachers do an amazing and thorough job, while the curriculum provides a solid educational foundation in Paralegal Studies. Don't get me wrong, it's work, but the harder you work, the brighter your future. Everyone I have dealt with at CALS has been so pleasant and supportive. Covid was a challenging year for everyone. After being laid off from my 16-year law firm job as a Word Processor, I investigated career paths in the legal field. I decided to study with the Center for Advanced Legal Studies to earn my Paralegal Certificate and earn my Associate in Advanced Legal Studies. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Experienced attorneys teach the course material in various fields, and you learn material that will help you succeed in a real-life law practice. The assignment and study materials are easy to understand yet challenging. The teachers go above and beyond to offer their assistance if needed. They will work with you, again and again, to thoroughly understand the course material so you may achieve your best grade possible. She then submitted my resume out to a few firms. It took only two weeks, and I had multiple offers from multiple firms. I was in control of my future this time, and boy, did that feel good. I chose an excellent firm with full-time hours, good pay, and benefits. 2021 is going to be a better and successful year due to CALS and my hard work. I was in the first cohort for the LVN/LPN program at ACI, and it was so definitely worth it! My experience though, was quite different from many of my peers as I was pregnant through out almost the entire program from beginning to end. Even though I had every odd against me, every one of my instructors did everything they could to ensure my success and I can never thank this administration enough for that. I had a $200 consultation regarding contesting a will after my father passed away, and from the start, the lawyer was not very nice after I told her what advice I was seeking. She looked up and saw that there was no will filed and asked what I wanted to do. I told her I didn’t understand what to do and how to go about handling this. She said there’s nothing to contest without a will, and nothing can be done. End of story. I asked what I can do since my sister said there was a will and everything was left to her. I’m a novice who was seeking advice in the law firm’s area of specialty, but got the brush off. It was like being wronged all over again. The lawyer said it would cost $5000 to retain her services to contact my sibling who took everything. It was obvious she did not want to help or care. She seemed rushed to get off the phone with no compassion and seemed disinterested in hearing what I had to say. My dissatisfaction isn’t due to the information I received and I have no problem paying a $5k retention fee. But it would only be to a lawyer who was not interested in hearing what I had to say and not cut me off and being rushed. The whole conversation lasted maybe 10 minutes. Only in it for the money (in my opinion). I hired Romi Swartz from the firm, based on the recommendation that she would be aggressive in my case. She confirmed that she would be aggressive during the initial consultation. She definitely was NOT aggressive (from my perspective). I was billed for so called strategy meetings, but I was never made aware of any strategy (despite asking many times), nor did I see anything that would resemble any kind of strategy. In addition, this firm charges a 5% maintenance fee, which I was not told about during the consultation. I was constantly told that I owed them money and they would withdrawal from my case, even though I had pay the fees. They even told my new attorney that I was bad at paying the fees owed. I spent upwards of 10K with this firm, with extremely little progress in my case. I am now having to pretty much start over with my new attorney to fix the many errors that were made and get my divorce case to move forward.Rachel Fox

The way the Nathan Miller treats his Minority clients is completely disrespectful. He will promise you a win but if he cannot SCAM his way out, he gives up. Even though I didn’t press charges, the state picked up the case, Nathan Miller was hired with pay but his only defense was to get me, the victim to rewrite my statement. When I refused, he completely gave up on the client and told the judge he didn’t want to be on the case at which point, Nathan Miller was court appointed. He did NOTHING! I spoke to the DA on the offenders behalf, got the plea down, and DA advised Nathan had done nothing on his clients behalf. Once I sent Nathan an email questioning his work ethic, he threw a tantrum and sent an email to me and the client advising I wasn’t welcomed even though I had statements that would help HIS CLUENT! The client when to visit him and was treated with SO MUCH DISRESPECT. Yelled at the client for smoking in his OWN CAR prior to the appointment and was nothing but discouraging. Brent is not a good attorney; he is very arrogant once he receives his payment my wife and I struggled to make our 1200 payment to Brent due to our daughter getting herself in trouble in this college town. Brent Bowen will screw you over and once he receives payment he will continuously tell you I can withdraw if you don’t like my services. Be serious who the heck wants their attorney to withdraw once they’ve already paid them in full. Now I guarantee this smart Aleck will change his business ethics if the law fully guaranteed a full refund or even partial refund to any attorney who doesn’t “resolve” your case. As soon as Andrew walked into the meeting, I had a bad feeling about him. He does not seem to like women. He continually interrupted me and made assumptions about me. He was rude and did not actually LISTEN to anything I was saying. I told him several times, "You don't know me." as he was assuming I was wanting to take my wealthy husband to the cleaners and I did not. I do not recommend him to anyone, especially women. If you are a male, it might be different. I did not feel like I could trust Andrew Passons at all. My husband's lawyer talked my husband into getting a protective order against me, which was completely fabricated and dropped before the court date even happened.
