I will start with the good. The instructors are amazing. Most of them that I have had are very intelligent and filled with the necessary knowledge to teach you. Now the bad. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE COUNSELORS!!!! Figure out what classes you need to take on your own. I spent 3.5 years there with a combination of full and part time and have no degree and no requirements for any programs that I told them I was most interested in. When I was a vulnerable 17 year old first generation college student there completely on my own they told me I needed to take reading for Nursing. For one, looking back, I placed out of reading. For two, I have yet to come across a nursing program that requires reading. It seems that they always gave me the run around and had me taking all of the classes that I did not need, and none of the classes that I did need. If you can figure out what classes you need to take on your own, then The school if great, and the education that you receive is great. If you have nobody to help you or guide you in your life and are solely dependent on the counselors advise, find an alternative.Amber Parson

I didn’t know I Loved ECC, until I moved and I was out of district so I had to go to MCC. I Hate MCC everything and everyone is shut off by 4pm and there’s no almost no teachers willing to teach past 4 (There are but only some). This is impossible to manage. I’m getting a job near ECC so I can go back. I MISS YOU. Not only does ecc have a ton a teachers, but they offer a variety of times for classes especially in the afternoon. There teachers are wonderful and dedicated (not all of course but most) and there facility offers so many different activities and clubs you can go crazy in there. Terrible experience lately. Have been taking sculpture but always have known a seething ill will exists. There is an undercurrent poisoning the atmosphere as if some sort of competition is going on rather than artistic creation. If it had not happened so often I would not complain but whatever I work on generally gets moved to the back of the line to be cast whenever. It doesn't feel good. I had put up with it because I live in a tiny trailer and really enjoyed having room to sculpt. It was just a pipe dream I had after I retired but now it isn't fun being the object of attitude manipulation and derision as if I have a case of dementia and am unable to discern the actions of this coterie. This is going to be my last class if I can cast what I did in wax last semester and I'll find some other medium rather than allowing the insult to my psyche to continue. Then you meet with a military personal to give your insurance and personal info to. Then it’s shot time. After a couple min wait I was in the chair. Monitored for 15 mins and second dose appointment made. I arrived around 10:00am and was back in my car by 10:40am.Erica S

I have been a student of DePaul University – Law College since 2019. Before joining DePaul I was contemplating between DePaul and other Universities, I am so happy I made the right choice to join DePaul. Not only is it a prestigious University with many famous alumni names, but also because it is a University that has made the list of the top best Universities for many years. Depaul has the best facility you can hope to study under, the administration are very helpful and my advisor, is one of the best, always available whenever I needed assistance, guidance or help. If you are a graduate of DePaul, you can be sure that employers will want to add you to their staff. Being part of DePaul, is being part of a large educational family. There are two campuses, the main one is located in Lincoln Park and the other one is located in the Loop, right in the heart of the business hub, if you are attending College of Law or College of Business. There are two huge libraries in the Loop campus, with access to Starbucks, as well as to, Barnes and Nobles. In both Colleges you have cafeterias amd study lounges. There is a Toastmasters club at DePaul and many other groups and clubs to join. Also, DePaul offers a help center, fpr students who may need extra help with certain classes, as well as, a writing center for whenever you need your essays reviewed, with feedback and assistance in improving it before submission. With all of the above and more, I could not possibly list all of the things DePaul os known for, or offers, but I can tell you one thing, if you happen to choose DePaul and become accepted, be sure you are part of the many successful people who will graduate with pride. You can be a full fledged patriotic American, but just because your parents travel and you may have a foreign transcript (from high school/ middle school) you are deemed an international student. To add insult to injury this particular issue entailed the student already having graduated from a neighboring community college. Yet still, they are deemed international. An obvious protocol set in place to guzzle money out of the student. Wasn’t even thrilled about their level of academics to begin with, so not having this school as an option isn’t a loss in the slightest for our family. Hispanic Heritage event went on without a hitch. Free of Problems and controversy. Entertainment was Great Food was Awesome. The Highlight was the introduction of the Main Speakers The New Era Young Lord's. Also some Associates and Friends from there Early Year's. The Bomba group provided good Entertainment and a Festive Atmosphere. In the Middle Sixties you could count the Minorities attending DePaul. The all played on the Basketball team. I recently received a class schedule (non-credit) brochure in the mail from Harper College and found a mosaic class taught by artisan and glass artists Urii Guchenia and Nathalie who has her very own studio in Willowbrook. The class was very inexpensive and well worth it! Kristin the librarian was very efficient in sending us a friendly email reminder along with the campus map to find the building where the class was. The class was held in “The Make Shop” within the library. All supplies were furnished and setup for us. Nathalie and Urii gave a us brief history of glass mosaics and were so helpful while we created our pieces. They had a vast array of glass tiles in every color imaginable! It was so much fun and gave us all a whole new appreciation of mosaic artisanry!Michelle Foy

Please do not go to this school, its terrible! I went here for 3 years and obtained an associates degree in Arts meant towards a bachelors degree back in 2014 but my experience was horrible. Me being black and African, they denied me an opportunity to use the Chemistry Lab to work on an idea that I wanted to prove yrt they were allowing other students to use it. Yet, the school used me to advertise in the Daily Herald News Paper as an immigrant that goes to their school doing athletics. My understanding is that they are chosen based on their ability to teach, rather than what research they are doing (which I'm told is the major criteria for hiring professors at 4 year universities). The only negative experience here, has been some minor harassing by the business office about tuition payment. This is somewhat understandable, but my frustration is due to having already spoken with the office about when I will pay, but I'm still receiving constant reminders to do so. That really is minor though and I would recommend this school to anyone. Very friendly and helpful teachers, cafeteria workers (food is decently priced to) and custodial staff. Haven't really interacted with anyone other than that.RoProArt

This college is the worst colleges in the history of Chicagoland and I thought that the teachers care more about students with special needs and disabilities as well but it seems like they don’t really care about disabilities students like us who struggle through catching up with some homework assignment on blackboard and has to be submitted by those instructor which they never graded it at all over the past two months or so I had a terrible experience of being part of this school which is too far compared to where I’m live at now every day I always take three buses and two train like the red line train to the blue line train and a extra bus to get there but always get there very late and the students from there are so sarcastic and not really friendly that much often. They need to learn how to nicely receive students ,being nice won't cost you anything, you're in college not at your home ,remember that ! Months after earning my degree, I’m still recovering from the great mess that is NEIU. Our teachers ranged from grossly incompetent to straight up vindictive, although a few were good. We, as a collective, had to report one of our teachers to the dean due to her mind boggling incompetence, inability to stick to any sort of schedule, inability to create assignments, explain them, set deadlines, and provide directions or rubrics (i.e., teaching 101… and this teacher is in the Dept of Ed!)… the list goes on, but what’s worse is that the dean totally gaslighted us. She didn’t hear us out AT ALL and made us feel like idiots. The sequencing in our program made zero sense and the “required” classes weren’t even offered. Went to the head of the program (who was another teacher we almost reported for refusing to follow 504 plans which is a federal law, but we’d given up by then) and she said those classes weren’t even a thing even though their website had them up. Magically, the classes that we said attracted us to the program in the first place disappeared from the website that week with no acknowledgement from the program director. There’s just no direction here at all. It was hell. I’m so glad it’s over. 2 stars for cost and a few decent, kind, and smart teachers. If I could do it all again, I’d really consider going into debt at a more expensive university.Betty L

The school is very diverse and a lower budget choice. I graduated from their science/education programs. I found my degree in Biology to be challenging and largely based on book memorization with occasional hands on experience. Their lab experience seemed dated compared to other institutions. This tends to be the nature of Biology, but I wouldn't say they excelled in making the experience amazing or poor. Their education program however was very lacking. It seemed out of touch with employers/districts needs. There was little to no focus on methodology, classroom management techniques other than case studies. These are the two most important skills needed in order to achieve student mastery. They did not model what they taught and I found many of their classes to be instructor led discussions about student based teaching. There was an immense amount of time spent on lesson plans and preparing portfolio's. While both are important record keeping practices, they should have been interwoven into a curriculum focused on skills based learning.becky harwell

This review is based on a tour that I took, and I will talk about most of the pictures that I took. There are monitors in the hallways. They have the weather on them or events. There's a useful board that has all of the students’ activities. When you walk around you will see the balloons that were put together creatively. The presentation was about majors, tuition, and housing. They were kind enough to give us a tour of The Nest. There is plenty of parking space. The lobby was well designed. It had a quiet place to study, a gaming place, and a gym. When we went to see the model of the apartments. I realized that there were alarms and fire extinguishers, which is a good thing for safety. The apartment has everything in it! It has a dishwasher, microwave, and furniture. There were 4 rooms, 2 bathrooms, and a living room. The cafeteria was huge and I like the fact that students and professors eat there. The food wasn’t that bad. I like the fries and the chicken fingers more than cheeseburger.3b0p

I went there over 30 years ago to study Court Reporting. It was an intense program, and I wasn't able to keep up the pace, so I had to leave. Unless you are committed to constant practice & study, this is not the school for you. You must pass each speed plateau in order to move on to the next level, and you only have limited chances to do that. The program (in my day) was designed to get you out in the job market quickly. The instructors I had back then were very professional & emphasized quality & professionalism always. A high-quality institution, but you must be ready for the pace. Good luck!waterfall

I attended the John Marshal School of Law in 2008 until 2011, and it was by far one of the most riveting experiences I have ever had academically. I learned a tremendous amount, but most specifically, I had an opportunity to do so in an environment which is conducive of actual practice. The school has one of the top writing programs, and the majority of the professors are practicing attorneys. Additionally, the program is more about actual practice as opposed to legal theory and the idealism surrounding the law. If you are interested in learning a ton, attending school in the epicenter of the Chicago scene, and developing a lasting set of memories, then by all means attend the John Marshall Law School. The Dean of the school, John Corkery is one of the most genuine and insightful individuals you will ever hope to meet, and someone who will ensure that your needs and educational goals are assisted by the staff!Mario Reed V.V.G.

I enjoyed the entire experience immensely; from the excellent support of my professors to the applicable legal writing classes I took throughout all four years which has helped immeasurably with appeals, complaints, motions, responses, etc. I was also very impressed with the faculty's help and encouragement in finding internships and employment. I will be forever grateful and would highly recommend to anyone. My sister went to Yale Law and both of us practiced briefly in Illinois, and I believe that, despite her top tier education, I had a better grasp of Illinois and Federal Civil Procedure based on those who taught me. I don't get those who choose to attend JMLS knowing the national rankings and then complain it is not a good school. Those are ones who will make lousy lawyers in the real world. Having graduated from JMLS 15 years ago, and successfully running my own law firm, all I can say is the school prepares you for the real world as does many higher ranking schools. It is entirely up to the person to succeed once in the real world, which takes a lot of hard work, tenacity and compassion about doing the very best for every client. Horrible horrible experience!!!!! Run! Not only was it insanely impossible to even speak with a lawyer and after submitting all of my information and pictures and paperwork which took hours of me running to do their job! I was informed that even though I have over 20,000$ in damages and I was in horrible pain for months with scar broken bones they didn’t feel that they could prove my case in my favor unless I paid for a mechanic and basically did all their work to hand them a winning case! The intake department was just rude and to tell someone that we’ll by the pictures it doesn’t look THAT BAD!!! They didn’t bother to see the other two bikes that were completely totaled ! They have helped me every step of the way. If I didn't understand something they contacted me immediately to explain it in terms I could understand. Not just by email, text, or paper, they would actually call me to make sure I understood. Most lawyers don't have enough time for that or charge you more. They took the time and didn't charge more. The process took longer than I expected but this started when Covid hit. Then you have to consider that the other team was fighting this the whole way and making me wait it out. My experiences with Disparti Law Group; the folks at Desparti treated me with professionalism and respect. I initially contracted them to help me with Social Security retirement issues, but as the case progressed, they suggested that I had a good chance to qualify for Social Security Disability. So we went for it. They never pressured me and with their recommendations, I always had the final say so on every step of the way. The Disability trail was quite an experience. I was initially denied and denied a second time, which eventually lead to having a hearing, which was our last option. Since we were steep with Covid 19, we did my hearing via phone. The judge was fair with me, and along with the independent medical advisor on hand, the judge, after deliberating for a time period (it was approximately a month or so before I was notified by mail), eventually found in favor of me qualifying for Social Security Disability. The lack of communication was not at it best. It took days for them to return calls. They ask for medical insurance information and you can’t even use your own medical insurance. The physical therapy facility that they recommend was rude especially the assistants/receptionist now the Physical Therapist were actually nice. I believe when providing a service all these things need to be intact especially if you’re ask for majority of the money from the settlement. My experience was not good at all.Sade Henderson

Erin was assigned guardian ad litem in our custody case. We were trying to move my nephew out of a bad environment. We shared texts, phone records, voice messages and numerous accounts from family members, against the other sides' pure heresay and quick house cleaning. Erin favored the other side. Now my heart breaks as I watch my nephew suffer in his environment every day. Everything about my 8 year old is different; he is barely a kid anymore and the thought of repairing the psychological damage he's enduring right now feels impossible. We trusted that Erin would be careful about her judgement of a child in danger, but I honestly feel she was easily manipulated by my mentally ill sister. We lost faith in the justice system after this case. I don't recommend this lawyer because my honest opinion is that she is not careful or serious enough with other people's lives.
