20 Best Paralegal Programs In Allentown, PA (2022 Updated)

I have graduated with five degrees from four different universities in Pittsburgh ranging from Bachelor to Doctorate degrees. I can honestly state that Duquesne was my favorite school. I received a higher quality of education and benefitted more from the smaller classes which are not offered by other schools. Most of my educators actually cared about their students and were not at all condescending (ok, there were a couple). Duquesne costs a bit more, but it was worth it. The campus is great. The classrooms; halls; and grounds are clean, traditional, and safe. My child chose to go to another school, but I would sleep better knowing that was living on campus at Duquesne rather than an apartment in Oakland. The only criticism I have is Duquesne has become more noticeably politically liberal than other Catholic schools. I’m ok with limited expression of personal liberal or conservative views, but I am disappointed when those views become a driver for the facility and administration to influence students. Some of those views have reached national attention which lowers my annual donations to the school.Jerry

We went for a campus tour today and absolutely fell in love with the campus. We are from the Pittsburgh area and I never expected the campus to be as big and charming as it is. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and the student:teacher ratio (14:1) with an average class size of 28 was a major bonus. The dorms are 2 bed frames with a desk and closet for each roommate with 2 drawers under the bed as well. They're spacious and clean. They have an amazing 4 floor workout building with every piece of equipment you could ever need! It truly is a hidden gem right in the downtown area. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city but still close enough to enjoy downtown amenities. I don't see how any other college could top this!!Melanie Phillips

A well known midsized eastern university. Good mix of commuter students and full time students living on campus. Known for programs in pharmacy. education, and music. I went to Delaware County Community College part time for four years after high school. It's one of the best decisions I ever made. I really didn't know what I wanted to do right out of high school and I didn't want to go to a super expensive university and still not be sure. I started out with general studies. I just finished my Liberal Arts associate's degree there this past spring. I enjoyed my time at this school. I got to take a lot of different classes to really figure out what I like and what I dislike, and it's way more affordable to do that here. The campus is beautiful, especially the STEM center. There's lots of helpful services and the professors I had were great. I'm now transfering to another school to study graphic design and I feel like DCCC helped me get on the right track. The cost isn't horrible and the classes are similar to classes offered by four year universities. The problems I have lie with the administration (financial aid, career center, cashier office.) They do not know how to deal with students in a timely, concise manner. I was unable to get in and complete a single course for the last two years due to administrative problems, even though I had been with them previously. Such a Beautiful campus and I had a very great experience at DCCC, I’ve had some pretty good professors during my time there although some did seem to only be there for a check. During my time here I was also in the KEYS program and they have such wonderful staff very helpful and friendly. As the mom of a college student who had to leave a private, out of state institution for medical reasons, I came into contact with BCCC when my son was ready to obtain further credits. The administration was so very helpful, from applying for appropriate courses, to registering and payment. My son has not yet graduated, but the experience at the local community college was excellent. BCCC also has programs in which high school students with special skills or talents can participate in college level work. Both the high school and BCCC were extremely helpful in this regard. High school credits were obtained with no tuition payment. Finally, I am a sunset photographer. The high hill on the campus overlooking the baseball field just off Swamp Road is a very nice vista for sunset shots!!Carol Geibe

First off the price is great. The campus is really nice. I liked the professor's a ton. There were some really good teachers. When I transferred out most of my credits went to Penn state without an issue. I see a few reviews on here talking about bad teachers. This is not a BCCC problem, it's a college problem. I had just as many bad teachers if not worse teachers at Penn State as I did at BCCC. Expect it, accept it, and work harder in those classes. It's only 16 weeks folks. If you are looking to see if college is for you or just starting back up with your education I think it's a great place to start.Mike Carson

The campus itself is clean and the security is friendly. As for the professors I had in my two year stint here, many of them were awesome people and very helpful as teachers. I feel I have learned a lot from having knowledgeable teachers such as Professor Beers in the math department and Professor Bresnen in the music department. All in all, for the most part the staff here seems to care about their students' success and I have had many more pleasurable teachers here than I expected.Dan

I appreciate Rasmussen University for having an abundance of resources and many professors and other staff members who demonstrate they want students to succeed. I especially have enjoyed being a peer educator, being privileged to work with Tammy Hopps who is an excellent supervisor and leader, and also being able to work with other peer educators who care for their peers as much as I do. I transferred from a local state college, which I considered sticking with to save money, but in reality, not much is saved when you compare the timeframe for graduation. At the state college it would take me an extra 2 whole years to receive my BSN, whereas at Rasmussen I save 2 years of time because of their second-degree BSN option. I am very pleased with the quality of technology – at the state school blackboard and other resources were slow and did not work as well on my cell phone, whereas with Rasmussen I can easily access everything I need from my phone when I'm on the go. It's inspiring to see so many single parents and married parents in school, some of which also work full time or part time like myself while completing their degree. I had such high hopes when enrolling at this school. However my experience hasn't been favorable at all. I am a current student and I was disappointed because even though I was able to enroll and start classes I really felt unsupported on this journey. I'm realizing Rasmussen may not be the school for me. I REALLY thought I would be supported and encouraged. I was made to feel that Rasmussen would be rooting for me through my academic journey. Instead I am bombarded with emails and calls telling me what I already know… I owe money. No calls or emails about how I can be helped to budget so that I can pay more toward the balance. I'm only being told: what I owe, to get the balance down to $500-$1000 and to take out loans; which will only put me in debt and it's too early to be taking out loans when I've been in school since September of 2021 and have 2 more years. Also this school doesn't cater to single parents, limited income and individuals that HAVE to work. This school ONLY has day classes for the nursing program and as I said before I HAVE to work full time.Sherria Clark

This morning I called the university for the North Orlando Campus for the Nursing program and spoke to the director of Nursing who was discusstingly rude on the phone. I called to get information, He had no patience and told me Not to proceed a career in Nursing because it was Not for me. This was a university that I was so excited to be a part of and be a graduate of Nursing. The director needs to be Fired because he is giving the university a bad reputation. Manor College is a really great place to get started with many, many different programs to get your foot in to the door and get wonderful experiences in any field you are thinking about going into. Its a smaller campus, so you get to know people a lot faster. Classes are a wonderful size so you don't feel crowded, and it makes getting to know your teacher on a more professional and personal scale. The staff at Manor are the most wonderful and helpful people you will ever meet, they actually get to know you and make sure you are staying on track of all of your assignments, and staying on track with courses so that you graduate on time. Manor has a wonderful basketball and track team, along with many other programs such as Student Senate and CAB (campus activity board), which I joined my first semester and plan on joining again. They have many, many different activities that they plan throughout the school year to make sure everyone is staying involved and getting to know other students and make new friends. They are very inclusive with many different types of people and talk about many different types of religion and ethics so that everyone gets a chance to feel special and then the other students stay more informed about other people lifestyles. Our president, President Peri is the most wonderful man you will ever meet and always make sure you are doing well, and getting to stressed and when ever you see him he makes time to just catch up with everyone and get feedback about everyones lives and classes. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience at Manor College. The beautiful campus hosts the bright eyed individuals seeking to further their education and the dedicated faculty and staff do their best to provide an excellent experience for all students. The small class sizes foster strong connections in and out of the classroom, and almost everyone gets to know you by name. One would think that a relatively small school wouldn't be able to pull in talented professors and bright students, but all of my professors during my time here have many experiences and are amazing at what they do. The campus life office is dedicated to everything that happens outside of the classroom, and they have so many events for students, some of which I have been directly involved with, and you can tell that everyone deeply cares about what they do here. Manor is going to grow exponentially in the future, with a fantastic new President in Jonathan Peri, a man with a vision so great and connections so deep that Manor will most likely become not just the premier two year catholic college, but one of the premier four year catholic colleges. My son graduated from Manor College a couple of years ago. It was a very positive experience for him. He has ADD & Aspergers Autism; he didn’t want to tell the faculty so that he was treated the same as any other college student. The staff here is very easy for a student to talk to & gave my son any help he asked for. My son graduated with honors with his associate degree in accounting. For a small community college it is wonderful. Beautiful campus with a creek running behind the dorms & has resident Canadian geese which wander freely on the campus. It is located in the suburbs outside of the Philadelphia area. The college is affiliated with many other colleges & recently has started to offer bachelors degree programs besides their associate degree programs. They are known best for their Vet Tech program & their dental programs. They have their own farm & community dental center which are great for the students practical experiences.Evelyn

First of all, I have no connection to Cedar Crest College. I did not attend school nor do I know anyone that attended school there. On June 7 2018 I made a journey to the Lehigh Valley to photograph the campus of Cedar Crest College in Allentown Pennsylvania. I was inspired by a vintage early 50’s video of the school that I saw on YouTube. When I arrived I was not disappointed. The campus is so well manicured that it almost seemed like I was exploring a country club. Parking was easy and the campus was easy to find. My self-guided tour took me to all points on the campus from the aquatic center to the Da Vinci Science Center. I would like to come back to the science center when it is open. The centerpiece of the Cedar Crest College campus is Blaney Hall. The historic old building photographed well and it is surrounded by gardens in bloom. I saw the theater, cafeteria, and the art gallery. The art gallery is open limited hours and I was not able to go inside. The theater was also closed but the cafeteria was open for business and the prices were great. Cedar Crest College is 151 years young and it is truly a gem in the Lehigh Valley.Richard K

Honestly the worst school for nursing. So many people get kicked out of their school for pointless reasons. You have a better bet going to a different nursing school in the area. Cedar Crest nurses are always unconfident even when they are knowledgeable because of the environment they’re put in. If you ask working nurses in the area, they’ll tell you that they’ve only heard horror stories from Cedar Crest. People only look at their pass rate, but not their drop rate and how many people they let go for nothing. They have to take proficiency exams every semester and have to score 90% or higher on things they have not been taught yet. Go to a school that doesn’t have that! More than four professors have left within the last year and there’s a reason for that. Some quit in the middle of the year!! All the students will tell you that there’s always broken or used equipment and that the staff never values mental health of their students. Students are expected to be at a doctorate level and teach themselves. This school is extremely unorganized and there are other places that respect their nursing students and encourage teaching!Emily Snyder

I am afraid of my daughter committing suicide over this school!!!! She is so stressed and anxious because they only care about the money. When over half the class fails a test it’s not the student as much as it is the teacher!! Barely anyone gets through the nursing program without failing… a few times!! She is in so much debt but I cannot talk her into transferring because she would have to start the program over! They expect the best of the best out of the students but have the worst of the worst professors!!! They should be ashamed of themselves! They do not tech you. They expect the students to teach themselves and to know what they are doing. If the students ask questions they are made out to feel stupid. Are you a working individual looking to earn a degree? Don’t go to Harrisburg Community College. This college uses Technology that is not easy to learn and I am good with Computers. Want to speak with a Advisor, well my advisor lives in South Carolina so I can only conduct a meeting via Zoom, the college is taking ALL personal interactions away. And working individuals…well i hope your not trying to spend any time with family and friends because I leave my 40 hour week job and I do school work for 5-8 hours a night and on my weekends. Forget about spending anytime with my wife and three children….I am taking 3 classes. Don’t ask the teachers a question, they just refer you to the syllabus…well clearly I am asking you a question because I didn’t understand it. I am military, yesterday I had duty and i didn’t get my project submitted, I logged in tonight to submit the project and the instructor removed the instructions, and locked the drop box so I couldn’t submit the assignment. I could keep going but I don’t have time…if your a working individual, don’t fall for the things they tell you.William Bricker

If I could give this institution a lower than one star rating, I would. For a community college, the course costs, books, and fees seem to be immense. I had professors who took half or more of the class periods to talk about themselves, personal topics and politics. I’ve also had professors assign English paper topics about personal things and I imagine he laughed at the student’s papers later in his free time. The required intro to college class professor had us playing with popsicle sticks and jars of rocks and sand. The certifying official for the VA office submitted my paperwork incorrectly. I dropped my classes and incurred debt because of how poorly the education at HACC is. They seem to be all about the money and not the education or students. I can’t even request a transcript for my new school because of “debts” to HACC. I no longer live in Pennsylvania and I am now attending a MUCH better school, and I am very glad. I would never recommend this school to anyone. This is not a good school, don’t waste your money and time.SMK3181

Most professors are nice but my overall experience was bad. I went here to try to accomplish a 2 year degree but every time course selection came around they didn’t have the classes I needed so I got stuck taking hardly any credits each semester. The majority of advanced classes are online only. They offer almost zero advanced courses in a classroom. So happy I made the decision to transfer. Not to mention how every time I scheduled a meeting with an advisor it either got cancelled without notice or they changed me to a new advisor who could not give me a single piece of useful advice.Kate

It's a beautiful campus. Especially during the fall and winter. Just be careful when parking. I was not familiar with the campus. My family and I stopped by to say we seen Duke University. Lovely campus, with almost 9000 acres! Huge trees and grand lawns frame Gothic architecture which themselves house state-of-the-art labs and lecture halls. Duke's research grants are famous for being generous, even for undergraduate students. Keep in mind, though, that the admissions rate is very very low, so you probably won't get in.Ameya Majmudar

Where to start….. re-enrolling for business admin after a degree in admin. Pretty sure any of children in the children's center would have been better advisors than the first one I had as she passed me off to admissions, had no idea what she was talking about, and downright REFUSED to help me enroll in classes saying she "doesn't do that, you have to do that online but I can show you how on this computer." The next day the second gentleman was a little more helpful but again, got nowhere. Advising hold, needed a specific advisor for my program [he was the one to tell me that] but he at least got me a name. Meanwhile another advisor is emailing to set up an appointment [not the one I needed]. I contacted the one I needed, I'm not even eligible for that program due to a pre-req not being met [hours of time being wasted to find this out fyi]. Get in touch with the one that has been reaching out, my advising hold was magically lifted, no one claims to have done it, register for classes other guy cancels his appt, make payment #q all good now….. fast forward 2 weeks it's time to make payment #2. I go to the Bursar's office only to be turned away because the Bursar's office does not accept payments 😳😳. I'm starting to remember why I took an extremely long break and a long time to get my degree . I'm even contemplating paying the out of county fee to transfer up to LCCC…..Katie Fitzpatrick

Beginning of Fall Semester 2021, I was a P.T.K. honors, full scholarship recipient student here working on my second degree until I was profiled by one of the female EMT instructors who though it would be a great idea to complain to an armed police officer that I was in the hallway outside the classroom my oldest son (also a student at NCC) was attending. The officer (extremely nice and professional) instructed me not to wait for my son in the hallway anymore since one of "the female EMT instructor's" complained about me for waiting in the hallway, doing nothing wrong, but waiting for my son. The situation was quickly neutralized after showing the officer my credentials revealing to him that I myself am a EMS Chief as well as a NCC Student. The Fowler building has constant video surveillance on every floor if NCC staff wishes to investigate. This took place on the 3rd floor of the Fowler Center Building. I have since transferred as a result. I will no longer be attending or sending any of my children to NCC. Posting this now because of possible retaliation towards my son and I being NCC students at the time.John Rivera

On Friday May 31 2019 I did a self-guided tour of Northampton Community College. This was my first visit to this spacious campus. The campus is located about ten miles from downtown Bethlehem in a suburban almost country-like setting. The campus looked very modern to me. I walked through the sports building and there was a fitness center which was closed that day. Not sure if the school has a pool. There is also a north campus across the street. Student housing and Alumni Hall are located here. There are many parking lots and the school has its own campus police force. I cannot comment on the school itself since I did not go here nor do I know anyone that did.Richard K

St.louis is so lucky to have such a prestigious school in the heart of our city. Its so pretty and the campus is is pretty quiet at the moment due to covid but when everyone is on campus everyone you pass smiles and if you ever need help find a building everyone is willing to help point out the direction you need to go. Beautiful campus with all the traditional styled buildings. I really like the new Bauer hall which features a huge glass roof. Due to either her or his complete and total disregard for my welfare, and never taking care of bills punctually, I became delinquent on my vehicle loan–this after requesting my checks and saying he would take care of all bills. The Repo man was sent to repossess my vehicle and I incurred a fee of $150.00 which Gross McGinley did not pay. He also allowed my home to be threatened with foreclosure due to this delinquency. I immediately withdrew my business, and enraged, Attorney Nanovic wrote up some bogus charges in which he charged me retroactively about $200 for emails of one or two sentences that took seconds to read and for consulting with his colleagues about my private life without my consent and then charged me as if they were consultations I approved, and staying longer in meetings with me then he had planned (but did not forewarn me I was on a meter and getting charged overtime). He then held my late husband's checks and our mail and bills for ransom and refused to release my property to me or the newly hired attorney unless I paid him another $995.00. No one at Gross McGinley cared enough to even hear my complaint. He eventually released my file, and I paid him the $995 that I don't believe I owe. He promptly had a young client write a five-star review to counter my one-star, but this client was not a widow whose most important assets (home and car!) he nearly caused me to lose. He is young and has potential. I hate that I had to spar with him four months after a personal tragedy. There are two shining angels there, Ms. Jane P. and Attorney Constance N, both of whom helped me far above and beyond their obligations, really . You will not find two finer professionals anywhere. It would be a daunting challenge, in fact, to find two finer human beings. Anywhere. They both hold Attorney Nanovic in very high regard, and I respect their point of view, but I only am relating my limited good-then-bad experience with him. I don't think he purposely set out to harm me and still wish everyone there the best. I hope they feel the same for me. No hard feelings. We all learned from the experience. We're all only human. I went to college here and got my associates degree in criminal justice. I will say this has been one of the best experiences I have ever had in my life. It was a struggle for me to get through some classes but I did it. I did it with the help of God, Advisor, professors, and many great friends. I attended from 2018-2020 to get a couple of associates degrees after a career change. I think this is the best school I have been to so far. I have taken courses at multiple university's and I will say the curriculum and the standard that the professors hold the students here is on par or exceeds what the other schools/university's offered me. Going through both the University route and the community college route, I would recommend any student, unless you obtain a full ride of course, to go through community college because of a few reasons. 1. Cost, if you get your generals done at a CC you can do the rest of your focused studies at a university and you will have saved a lot of money and may have possibly qualified for additional scholarships and grants to continue your education that you might not have before. 2. Readiness. If you are not sure you are ready for University studies a great place to test it out is a CC. It is a great barometer and often just as challenging as University courses. If you can do LCCC then you can do University and most would say it the other way around. 3. The professor's. Professors at CCs are often more in touch with their students and I believe they foster a great environment in which to ask questions and get individual help. I had some great professors at LCCC and some I still keep in contact with. Don't get me wrong, you can find good personable professors at a University, but just not as readily. That being said LCCC provided me all of these things and I would recommend anybody going to a CC and particularly LCCC. It is a great growing school with a lot of programs to study. The campus is in a nice location in Schnecksville and has plenty areas to study and learn. Oh and the bookstore is wack like I have seen from other reviewers, but it didn't drop the rating by a star for me.Trevor Lanning

My girlfriend is currently in the CDL program and paid $5,430~ to be three weeks into a four week course and has not yet been on the road yet. Last I check it was a DRIVING school not spend the entire time backing up trailers school. They were told that the second week they would be in the trucks driving yet the head instructor or whatever he is says they "aren't ready". Now they are on the last week. Monday, an instructor will be out and so no one will get road time that day. They expect all 8 people at the Luzerne location to be fully competent in their ability to drive an 18 wheeler inside of three days. To put it into perspective they have 2 trucks and 8 students and 8 hours a day. Each student MIGHT get 6 hours of driving. Total waste of money. You can get your CDL for a third of that price with more knowledge by reading the CDL book from PennDOT yourself, having a friend with their CDL take you out in their truck or a rental from Ryder and then after enough practice go take the test. Either they need to step up the education or it's simply not worth it. Hell, Prime would've been a better option but they only have automatics and that results in an automatic restriction.Turbo Lag

I am a student at Lehigh carbon community college. * The financial aid staff are very helpful they will help you get all the loans student financial aid you can think of and a few you haven't thought of. * The business office very professional. * When it comes to the professors I give them a c average. The English literature class be wary. The best way I can describe it is think like Rodney Dangerfield and back to school. Where you can get your information concerning a article book or other writing from the professor's own biography and you will be wrong. The English literature department does not allow creativity of any kind. * Their legal and business and nursing courses are some of the best You can ever find. The campus is very clean very organized and the administrative staff is super helpful. My three-star rating is based solely upon the professors If you're not going to go into the legal field or nursing field take your genetic courses at Lehigh carbon and then transfer.Bobby A

The advisors are horrible and staff is horrible, left my daughter in the dark most of the time, genEd classes for 3 years and amounted to absolutely nothing , 60,000 DOLLARS LATER AND NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT, kids whether they are 18 or in their 20s still need guidance and help, they need to up their help and not the price constantly, the reason why my daughter transferred was because they didn't give her any hope, pretty much made her think that if she did not pass her teas test the second time around her Career as a nurse would go down the drain. So her hope of being a nurse went out the window. Now she is very hopeful that Greater Technical of Altoona would give her the opportunity she always wanted.Lola Scavone

It’s a beautiful campus, large and spacious! I love the staff and faculty here. They are welcoming and respectful (most are anyway). They are well-organized for a small school. Overall, pretty impressive. Some constructive feedback I may have would be considering changing attitudes of the financial aid staff towards students. It doesn’t cost much to be nice to students. That said, not everyone is bad per say. Just that most people I encountered in the financial office are pretty bad with their customers service skills.Chung E. Lip, MPH, CHES, RN

An absolutely beautiful campus that promotes a learning atmosphere unlike many of the larger schools. Has a caring staff who will do anything they can to help you succeed both in and out of the classroom. Couldn’t have found a better fit for learning over the past 4 years!
