My son recently graduated from this college. He transferred in from a 2 year college so he was only there for 5 semesters. Things started okay but went downhill. Communication quickly became a problem. We had issues from professors, finance and counseling. It became so bad that to get anything done we had to cc the Dean in any messages that we sent. I also know of someone else who had to do the same thing. The last semester was the worst. He was enrolled as a full time student but when the bill came through it was in correct. We got loans for the first amount but had to get additional loans after the semester ended. No one sent an email we had to check the account because my son never received an email or his diploma. When we were notified by the finance department they told us we had to fix it. Numerous emails were sent to many different people but nothing was ever fixed. We finally resent the emails and cc’d the Dean and it finally got fixed. The college also changed the advisor without notifying us that it had changed. My son had to find his own internship and figure his classes out on his own. My daughter had the same issues with communication. She was signed up to go but never heard back. She then got a call from the advisor asking why she never showed up. The advisor had enrolled her in classes but never told her. She ended up not going. If you choose this college they will take your money but you will have to do a lot of work to make sure they are on top of things.Todd Crossett

I graduated from Roberts last year and I had a great experience. I do agree with some reviews that communication is not always great, but as long as you are proactive and take an active approach to your education here, you'll do wonderfully. The staff and students are very respectful and the professors seem to really care about you and your overall success. It is a nice size campus, not too busy and not too small. This is not a good college at all. It's a decent sized school but I found many of the students here to be very cold and unfriendly. It's a very political school everyone is either very liberal or very conservative which made me uncomfortable since i'm not a political person. There is a lot of drug activity at this school. I had great professors and excellent guidance. I think. I mean, it WAS the first half of the seventies! Seriously though, I got everything I paid for, and more, from this great institution. I went to Nyack College in the city for one year and switched to a CUNY school after as I felt the quality of education did not match the HIGH costs. I remember when I was first applying to the school, I was so nervous about taking out such high loan amounts to pay for one year. I kept communicating this to the admissions person, but he kept telling me that no one could take away my education and convinced me to take the loans. The only reason ppl go here and are willing to grossly pay for an education is the location. I went to school here and will say it is far overpriced for the education you are given. Some staff are great and really care about the education they are providing. Others just read off a powerpoint and have no interest except for a paycheck. Pace is expensive, doesn't help the students getting internships and when the students get one on their own, Pace takes the credit. After graduating, the students don't get a job. One of their alumni just got a good job and due to she owes money, they don't give her transcripts and are retaining her title. Is not possible for Pace to help when the students really need help? Simply put, the 4 years I spent at The College of Saint Rose were the best 4 years of my life. I attended the Accepted Students Day the Spring before I matriculated and fell in love. The campus was beautiful, everyone was friendly and helpful. I left with every question answered and very at ease about where I would be spending the next 4 years. Saint Rose provided me with an opportunity to come out of my shell. I was the typical shy student. I had my group of friends and I stuck to them. I didn't participate in any campus activities, my days consisted of going to class and back to my room. At the beginning of my second year, I knew I wanted to make a change, I wanted to experience all Saint Rose had to offer. I became a mentor, and then a resistant assistant, joined clubs, and volunteered. I did it all. I became a leader on campus all while balancing my school work and employment. The resources are unlimited at Saint Rose, you just have to reach out. Class sizes are small which is perfect for those of us who like to get to know our professors. As a biology major, I found my classes to be challenging but not impossible and learning was fun. When you have professors who are passionate about their field it makes you passionate to learn and that is what you will find when you come to Saint Rose. With the help of one of my professors, I was able to secure a summer research internship at Albany Medical College. My time spent here was very productive. When I transferred to Saint Rose, I knew that this place would become my second home. I can't stress enough how transfer friendly the college is. I had such wonderful help from Transfer Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar and the Communications department throughout the transfer process. They included my mom as well and answered any questions she had. While attending Saint Rose, I had some incredible opportunities that you can only get from Saint Rose. I was elected President for Tau Sigma National Honor Society which allowed me to go to Chicago and San Antonio for their leadership conference. I got to go on several trips including the Hearst Tower in NYC, Yankee Stadium, Bronx Zoo and to local media outlets such as Time Warner Cable News. I also was a staff writer/news editor for The Chronicle, the weekly student newspaper. But most importantly, Saint Rose prepared me for my two internships/part time job during my senior year and current full time job in the news industry. The professors in the Communications department helped me grow not only as a journalist but as a person. They pushed me to think outside the box and ask the tough questions. Without such a wonderful and supportive COMmunity, I wouldn't be where I am today. I feel like one star would be harsh, but three stars would be too nice. My experience with Saint Rose is that it is, like many colleges in this country: overpriced. That is a common complaint with all colleges, but it's more than that. I think the value of the education you get there doesn't really match what you are/will be (if you are taking loans) paying for. I feel the education at Saint Rose is not preparing the younger generation to enter the workforce or the real world. The school boasts great academics and don't get me wrong, some classes have been very objective based and informative. However, some classes made me feel like I was still in high school/the public education system. As in, 1) They aren't that challenging, 2) They don't teach me skills and knowledge that I'll need in the future and 3) It feels like some of the classes had a larger agenda to them (trying to convince students rather than teach). Besides the academics, the campus is nice. Personally, Albany, NY is not my cup of tea but for someone coming from the NYC area (which there's a lot at SR), it might be nicer to be in a much smaller city. Besides that, I think most adults see college campuses kind of deteriorating in terms of the academics and culture. I don't need to go into details about that. I really can’t explain what I went through with the staff, so unprofessional and the attitude is horrible I always try to be as nice as possible but the way they treat people is awful. They literally screamed at my mom who does not speak any English for not having her vaccine card with her although she had picture of the vaccine but her phone was dead they yelled at her and did not try to help her enter the building at all. Once I came and approach them they was talking to me with awful attitude and yelling at me!!!!! although I respect the policy but they always could help in situation like this making everything 10X harder and unprofessional behaviour. Great academics (I was in Family and Child Studies so I could eventually do Early Childhood P-3, and I know the Musical Theater and Dance programs are amazing. Also the Visual Communication Design BFA) but I have complaints about dorm life. I was put in a dorm room with a smoker even though I have a chronic illness and explicitly put on the roommate application that I did NOT want to live with a smoker. She came in every night smelling of smoke and it was not… a good situation. Not much to do on campus either as far as activities (personally, as I'm not one for sports or many of the clubs they offered) I did appreciate that there was an ice skating rink so close to campus! But I went home every weekend. Disability Resource Center is AWESOME. If you need support or accommodations because of a disability or chronic illness I strongly suggest checking in with them!!!Laura Whitney

Now that my son is graduating I can write a review. The school administration, professors, and overall staff are unresponsive and ill informed. Takes weeks to get answers and then they are conflicting. Graduation ceremony multiple posts graduates need to be there for 11 no 12 no 11. Guests can arrive 60 minutes early. Guests stand In Parking lot 7 . No one there directing people to opposite side of building for entrance. Graduates just standing around in the parking lot again no direction. We went there for a sports clinic . Nice facility and staff. The campus seems well maintained and up dated. The training was professional. I’m not certain about the academics, as we were not there to take a class. If I could, I would easily give York a ZERO RATING! NOTHING against the professors I’ve come across, but the school, policy and registrar/bursar staff and policy are ridiculous. I have been charged, during the pandemic I might add FULL. I clearly withdrew from summer classes and was literally ONE day passed the 100% refund date. After, I spoke continuously with bursar who kept sending me back to registrar. ALL professors assisted in submitting documentation showing I DID NOT CONTINUE in the ONLINE courses. Although I submitted required, and accurate paperwork documenting the WHY I could not complete the summer session, this greedy school is charging me ONE HUNDRED PERCENT for courses that their own records reflect that u withdrew from. Again, let me reiterate this was at the time of a Pandemic. I am now not able to register or do anything until this balance is paid. I think this school is deplorable, too much of the staff is unprofessional and not helpful At all! They’re dismissive and there is never any considerations or flexibility offered. If you can, avoid this school. Majority of the staff are unprofessional, lazy and do not seem to take their job seriously. Imagine emailing your professor and days, or even up to week plus passes by with no response. Lovely campus and easily seen from the street. The school is close to public transportation. The campus houses a high school and an elementary school. The grounds can use some work and some more public art installations. The cemetery is gated but plenty of history ardorns the head stones. The indoor exhibit of The Tuskegee Airmen is worth visiting the campus. The stundent art galley is the best. Ask security for accessibility for people with disabilities. Security at the gate will ask of I. D. He is very pleasant and awesome with directions. Most staff/faculty are helpful too. Better to get assistance from the more experienced staff. The sense of community I felt from the students and faculty, and the academic support they promised to give is what ultimately led me to commit to Seton Hall. Now that I'm a sophomore, I can say that sense of community and academic support is still so prevalent. As a freshman, SHU sets up each student with an academic advisor and a peer advisor, both of which were extremely supportive in my decision to switch my major. They outlined my new requirements and talked about each of my options, reminding me just how supported every single student is. For 4 years Rutgers was our home, and the center of our family life. Our eldest children grew up here and the youngest was born. It was a wonderful life experience as a family, as people and students. Life at Johnson apartments was happy, with difficult moments of adaptation but definitely a great challenge. This college has pros and cons just like any other institution. I was a business major, so I cannot speak for other programs. Some of the pros: -The campus is beautiful and very well maintained. -The campus is more-or-less contained in one area. -Some professors (not all) are very helpful if you show that you care. -The gym is actually useful. -The campus is expanding. -Very nice cafeteria. -There is a Starbucks next to the library, perfect for white girls. (FYI this is the only Starbucks in the USA that is franchised.) -Best school in NJ if you want to become a teacher. -STEM building is awesome. Cons: -Tuition is rising at an exponential rate. -Not exactly the most illustrious school. -Parking spaces are diminishing because of all the new buildings, adding to the HUGE parking problem that already plagues KU. -Not too engaging on campus since most people commute and leave right after their classes are over. -The grade curving is absolutely ridiculous. I worked my tail off to receive the same grade as the slackers. It got so bad that I had a 160% in a class one time. Had multiple classes where I received a +100%. How does that work? -Administration is horrible (especially admissions). -Not exactly located on the best side of town. -Student store is expensive (especially books). Student deli is extremely expensive (I'm talking $5-for-a-Red-Bull expensive.) -Some professors will avoid you like the plague outside of class. -Like anywhere else, some students don't care at all and you will have to deal with that. My overall experience with Kean was a good one. I transferred from a community college and Kean definitely was a step up.Robstat

Tuition is definitely affordable, and the campus is definitely nice. Professors are very understanding, and definitely help you when you need it. The only thing I have an issue with is the Trolley System. Sometimes I'd get out of class at 10:45 and my next class would be at 11 in East campus. Even if I got out of class and got to the Trolley stop by Kean Hall, sometimes the Trolley wouldn't come for 30 minutes. Maybe if the Kean App had a gps tracker on the Trolley to show where it was located, it would help a lot because sometimes you have to just hope it will come. Other than that I love this University. Miron Student Center is amazing, the information desk gives you all the information you need. Sandra Collins will always help you when you need it! There are many places to study in peace whether it be the library in a study room, Green Lane, East Campus, the Stem building, there's always a place to study in peace. There's also a variety of places to eat such as the cafe, Jersey Mike's, Auntie Anne's, or Smash Burger. Also, there are many clubs to join, and if you're a commuter doing extra curricular activities help kill time when you're waiting for parkway traffic to die down.Joshua Cadavos

EXCELLENT university! This university has a lot to offer to its students. Professors are very helpful and always encourage to become more independent and further your education within both the classroom and the future. Commuting can tough for those who drive (parking is an issue), but if your able to take NJ Transit then definitely do it. (Name another school that has a train station across the street from the campus.) Half hour from NYC, store outlets within a few miles for shopping. Kean has helped me immensely from not only an academic stand point, but also as an individual. Even with full-time work for the duration of full-time study, it was easier than where my Bachelor of Arts was from: Binghamton. Long story short, the Public and nonprofits sector didn't want me; but, made some successes in the Corporate world in Banking, Insurance, followed by Investment Brokerage. My point ? Be adaptable for all your endeavors, and a Master's degree allowed me to enter, and to succeed in, fields for which I had no experience ! Life is what you make it, folks.Lawrence Weinzimer

Studying a dual bachelor's (and my first master's degree) in good part at the City College of New York's Division of Interdisciplinary Studies, at the Center for Worker Education, was one of the most fulfilling experiences that I have ever had. But it was only a confluence of unique factors at the CWE that made this possible for me so shortly after I arrived in the U.S. They have a compact yet superb interdisciplinary team of scholars that promotes the kind of close interaction that one gets these days with luck in postgraduate studies. And the Center for Worker Education's gorgeous and exceptional location in Manhattan's Financial District made it both an oasis of easy access from anywhere in the city (and from New Jersey, where I used to work then) and inviting for relaxing walks after classes. Besides, their four Semester Credit Hours–rather than the usual three SCH that is standard in most universities–allowed me to complete my dual B.A. in just three years, studying a good 25% less courses than it would have taken anywhere else. On top of that, I studied at a pace of just two evenings per week, and Saturdays only a few semesters. Add CUNY's exceptional affordability, some truly fantastic professors, and the CWE's unique diversity and you will get a combination of pluses hard to beat! This is City College's downtown, worker program, and it was an excellent fit for me. The facilities were clean and new, the registration was seamless and efficient (one of the best reasons to come here, and definitely one of mine), the area is great (not too busy like where some other CUNY schools are located), and all of the students are of a more "mature" age bracket (some people preferred this). Some of the professors were eccentric, lol, but good overall. Caution, like most new Liberal Arts programs like the one available here (Nyack one block over, College of New Rochelle in Harlem & South Bronx, etc.) these BA degrees are typically for people who are already working and who just need a general bachelors degree to move up at their job. This program in particular was established for those who worked in the public sector (mostly for the city, like in the building that Nyack is in) with courses in public admin, unions & negotiations, etc. (There's a master's program in the same field with CUNY School of Professional Studies in midtown). For some, if you need a bachelors to earn a little more money getting office jobs that require a BA, this is a great route too. It's also great if you want to attend graduate school. Some professors, particularly one in social work, will get you recommendations to get you into Hunter's MSW program. For all these reasons stated above, I recommend this program.Sha Ro

I am a proud Alumni of the City College of New York – Center for Worker Education. As a full-time employee and single mother the course syllabus enabled me to complete the credits I needed to obtain my undergraduate degree. Several years later I wanted to obtain a Masters Degree in a topic that interested me. I enrolled in the MA Study of the Americas program and I must say I was not disappointed. Everything I remembered about the CWE experience remained true. The professors are knowledgeable, passionate about their course of study and committed to each student that enrolls in the program. I have been and will always be an advocate of CWE. Throughout the years I have strongly recommended the Center to other individuals looking to achieve their educational goals and enhance their professional careers.
