We were working on our project (Our Green Hope) today where we used 3000 reusable bags to make the largest mosaic. The worker at the campus were friendly and supportive. After finishing the project, all the 3K bags were given for FREE at Kroger to encourage people to start using reusable bags instead of plastic grocery bags. I just completed the MSN FNP program, however, my diploma/degree conferral is being held until September. As a result, I cannot obtain a license to practice until, at least, September. Most likely, it’s going to be even longer than that. I had a job lined up but, now that I have no way to get certified for, at least, two months, that’s gone. Oh, and, yes, it does state that at the end of the end of a page, after encouraging me to take two different certification exams which run upwards of $300 each just to sit for the exam. There are review courses available but each one runs about $395 if you want a reputable one. So, in summation, I have completed an advanced degree, have incurred the cost of this degree, still have to work as an RN for two to three more months, lost my potential job, and my diploma is, in essence, being held for ransom. Dr. Sara Runge and Dr. Eileen Shanahan arranged a summer Camp for GRAD Cincinnati this week (June 13th-June15th). This is our 7th year working with Dr. Runge and as in previous years the program was very well planned. The students were able to experience the campus life by staying in the dorms and all of the colleges with hands on experiences. The students' presentations indicated they all learned a great deal. They all stated we had a great time. Even though the weather hit a record high, the staff from NKU worked very hard to make certain the students had a fulfill campus experience. NKU staff and professors did an outstanding job providing a 3 day college tour/retreat for our High School students. NKU staff offered our students opportunities to explore their academic interests, participate in hands on activities and visit a variety of labs, which in turn helped spark new ideas for career options and educational pursuits. Students were given opportunities to ask questions, interact with professors, department heads, other staff members, and a student panel which helped them to understand college on a deeper level. Its a bit hard to rate an entire university. I'll preface this with the fact that I'm rating from a students perspective and won't be factoring in cost to attend in my review. First, the university is big and beautiful. All the old brick buildings give a nice general vibe to the campus. Uptown is also a nice social hub for the weekends, fit with bars, restaurants, and Bagel and Deli. There are plenty of people on campus to befriend and plenty of clubs to find like minded people with. Second, the classes. I've had great classes so far, not finding any "bad" professors. For context, my classes have revolved around computer science and math. Mileage may vary, I haven't taken every class. Third, the food. The included meal plan gives access to meal halls which have a wide array of food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Some items, like cereal or pizza, are guaranteed every day of the week, with other entrées being cycled out each day. Its good at first,, but these dining halls are functuonally mean to be eaten at daily. After a while of that, the food quickly becomes just edible. The Armstrong center has a bunch of restaurants that require payment like normal, however they don't accept meal plan swipes or their equivalent value, something I've seen in much smaller universities. This food is actually good, but eating here isn't sustainable for the aforementioned reason. Paying at these locations means you're really paying twice. Once for the food, and again for the meal swipe you've essentially wasted. For this reason, I've taken a star. Lastly, I feel safe on campus. Their transparency with active police activity sent to your email along with their crime and fire reports each year indicate this campus is a pretty safe place to be. Its in basically the middle of nowhere, the campus being its own town. In fact, Miami University outsources their own police department to the town its inside of.Jack Duvall

It has all the feelings of being in a Hallmark holiday movie.. the campus is absolutely gorgeous..The Fall foliage, to the flowers that are planted along campus during the spring and Summer.. or the gorgeous art and architecture that is around with the beautiful winter snow.. Horrible school. I attended the school for about 2 years and have a better experience at the DMV. I was told in high school by a Cincinnati State that my credits would transfer from Cincinnati State to University of Cincinnati seamlessly – they did not. In fact when I went to UC, they stated they could accept me as a transfer student but none, zero, NADA – of my credits would transfer. I applied to Miami University (Ohio) and was able to have 3 classes transferred. Miami was also cheaper at the time than Cincinnati State. I had to start all over from scratch after 2 useless years at Cincinnati State. The staff at Cincinnati State, including the teachers, were low quality. Staff seemed to brush off any concerns you have. Asking for help? Only the minimum is provided to guide you in the direction you need. Teachers mostly seemed to be low quality and bottom of the barrel – I only had 2 teachers that were okay out of 2 years. A few teachers I was able to show issues with tests or exams – although they agreed that I was correct at the time, one refused to fix the exam grades for everyone because "That is what the test key answer is and she would have to go back and regrade all the tests"… Sorry? That is literately your job… The next teacher could not understand the wording of their own test question that they provided (online) and would not correct the answer for the students. I communicated this error via email and was pushed away. I pushed back stating the teacher was incorrect and provided the work as to why the answer was wrong, in a professional tone. The teacher responded unprofessionally by changing the color of the text in the email to red, downplaying my proof, not using punctuation, and using unprofessional language. I dropped the class as this is not a teacher in my eye; but someone who is there for a paycheck. Cincinnati State had a graduation rate of just over 12% when I attended. 12% of students graduate from this school…. For the 2019 year it is now 17.9%. The odds of you attending this school for 2-3 years and graduating are very low. You are better off attending a real college if you are serious about your future. The overall poor quality as well. I have never experienced so many arguments between teachers and students in a classroom before. After class is over, everyone leaves campus immediately unless they have another class within the next hour or so. The current ad campaign that is on TV does not portray the school correctly. The average age of students is middle age. There is very few labs due to limited budget. Little to no student engagement events. Printers were not free. Book store was a COMPLETE ripoff, some classes did not require the book due to costs. Teachers would not communicate to students about schedule changes in tests and exams effectively for online classes (I missed my final Physics exam due to this). Save 2 years of your life and go somewhere else. I am not the only one with a really bad experience. If you know someone that attended or attends Cincinnati State, talk to them. You will typically find they did not graduate or they think it is okay but plan to transfer to another school before they finish. My experience at Cincinnati State was something of a mixed bag. I had previously attended a 4-year university but was seeking a career change. Given the low cost of attendance that community colleges provide, I figured that Cincinnati State would be a great option. My first year of studies were great. I had some very kind professors who genuinely cared about the students and the material that they taught. Some faculty members could be a bit rude at times, but that is to be expected in higher education. After my first year, I truly felt like I was on the way to great success. My second year on the other hand turned out to be quite the opposite. During my first semester back from co-op, I received notification that I had been dropped from two classes without explanation. Upon reaching out to the registrar, I was told to contact my program chair/advisor. Upon reaching out to my advisor, I was not given any guidance. I felt like I was really left to my own devices to try to figure out how to schedule my classes. In addition, I found the teaching quality to be quite disappointing. In the one class that I was able to take that semester, my professor did not once hand out a syllabus or explain the grading rubric. I persistently asked him when grades would be given back, and he would give me a specific date. Only once did he ever give back grades on said date. The rest were given at the end of the semester, thus leaving all students in a state of anxiety over what our final grade would be. He stressed the importance of attendance and punctuality but was hardly ever on time for class. On some occasions, he even made me late to work because class would run over. For these reasons as well as the problems mentioned earlier about the administration, I decided not to return to Cincinnati State. In short, Cincinnati State is a good option for those seeking a low-cost education, and there are some great programs and professors here. However, the unorganized and highly bureaucratic administration combined with some exceptionally unprofessional professors keep the school from being as great as it could be. Please tread lightly if considering Cincinnati State now or in the future.Nick Workman

My review was removed probably by google because I mentioned that I don’t appreciate how their curriculum is trying to indoctrinate you. It’s other wise a good school. I got my degree in two years and had no problems. The instructors for my program were great. But it’s absurd in my opinion that a college feels the need to assert their opinions in to every core class. My English class was consistently wanting us to watch TED talks that talked about political standpoints. My sociology professor was the absolute worst. Even if you did an assignment and followed the rubric, but disagreed with her opinion, she would give you a lower score. Then try to justify it by using her own opinion as sources. She also said that anyone who believes in God is likely uneducated. Overall, my experience was good and I’m glad I got my degree here. But it’s just too liberal for my taste.Britt Jones

I was in the MA program, learning more about leadership to better qualify myself as an instructor to teach more courses at a growing, local college. I had already taught at the secondary and post-secondary levels for over 25 years. I was amazed how much the first class inspired me to do more in leadership and develop and use my skills, as well, all within the first four weeks of class. I came to realize this was the Professor's goal, she had it set up this way, to help us identify the leader within us, become an advocate for our own selves, and find ourselves, in leadership roles! All without any pressure to do such, because it was like a discovery course, in leadership, to find yourself and where you wanted to be or go, with what you learn! It was GREAT! I learned so much that I LOVED IT! I could not ask for any more individualized attention. She responded to every assignment with all positive feedback! It was rigorous! Hard work on assignments, taking as much time as it should take to get out of it what I expected and more! I will have completed the CMHC MA program next week and will be so happy to be done with my nightmare of an experience dealing the program director and my faculty advisor. There is a complete lack of communication in the program leaving students anxious and frustrated. It’s near impossible to get in contact with the program director and my faculty advisor was not any better. I had to deal with their lack of professionalism for almost 2 years. I would hear from my advisor once a semester and my program director only leading up to required residencies. This being my last semester, I tried to be assertive as I could be professionally to make sure grades were in and that all the required paperwork was submitted. After not hearing back from the director or my advisor when they promised me answers by a certain day, I was left having to reach out again. In the responses I would get from them both, they were rude and trying to downplay the anxiety I was feeling. The education I received at Union was good but it was not worth the frustrations brought on by the neglectful CMHC program director or my advisor.Kristen Keller

I've worked here for close to 2 years part-time. As a part-time analyst, most of my time was spent behind computer screens. I did periodically engage in activities like volunteer work, but most of the time I spent my time in the office. Most of the time I interacted with people via email, so it was common for people to see my name, not necessarily a face. When I announced I was leaving, I was shocked how many people were so kind and supportive (I was leaving for a career opportunity) because as I said, I spent a lot of time behind my computer rather than out and about excluding some things like volunteering. Even the President himself came to talk to me. This is an example of the wonderfulness of the Mount: from beginning to end, no matter where you work, whether you're part-time or full-time, staff or faculty, you are family. You are loved. You are valued. Management cares for its employees and listens. I truly enjoyed my time working here. There are so many wonderful people who work here and I will miss them all. The education and on/off campus opportunities were fantastic. I graduated with a Bachelor of science degree in Health and Wellness and double minor in Business Administration and Exercise Science. Although I still haven't found a career related to my education, I am still very appreciative of the opportunity MSJ gave me. The reason my review is 2 stars is because the admission/financial aid departments screwed me out of more than $12,000 in aid after my freshman year that I rightfully had earned but was not granted because "that's just not how it works" and the situation was unprecedented. Obviously that is a large amount of money and could be saving me some trouble financially since graduation. If you want a quality education, MSJ is a great place to learn but make sure you are willing to pay the price.Nathan Bauer

I was accepted to the college and moved in this fall. They called me to the office on my first day and told me I owed $5,000 or I would be sent home if i failed to pay it by the end of the week. So i went home. I was never told that I had to pay all my tuition before school even started. Financial aid office never gave me a payment plan, offers for scholarships or loans. This school lacks Catholic values and was not helpful students in need of aid. Don't recommend. If you are looking for a true Catholic school, this is not the place to go. I was very disappointed with the staff and how they didn't even try to help me. I experienced this all first hand and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. Being kicked out of my top choice school was not how i wanted to start my first year of college.Grace Ulrich

I am currently an IT major at the College. All of my Professors are extremely knowledgeable in their field of study and easy going people. Average cost per semester for my IT major has been $2650. (MUCH cheaper than the for profit Schools). I wasn't required to take SATs or ACTs for acceptance. I was required to take a Math and English Placement exam. Campus is easy to navigate and is on top of a hill in beautiful Batavia. I'm extremely happy with the School and would highly recommend it to anyone. I've been out of School for approx. 8 Years due to Military Service and the Veterans Department helped me with all my transitioning. Career Services has local and regional companies that come to the School to talk to Students for Internships and Job positions as well. Regardless of your age (and I've seen from 18 to 44) this is a great place to get back into School before transferring somewhere else after your Associates. (only one Bachelors Program is currently offered at the time of this review. But their are plans to add more.)Joshua Smith

I have been a student for a year and have seen nothing but near academic excellence. I am now a sophomore enrolled in the Associates program for Information Technology, the President Elect of the UCC Tech Club, and IT tutor. Experience can change depending on your major, classes you choose, how involved you intend to be(both socially and directly in classes), and your financial status. I have taken 11 classes and all but one has exceeded my expectations. My adviser is wonderful, and cares about my experience and success in achieving my goal to graduate. I have been given opportunities to recieve scholarships, and when I haven't understood something the people at OneStop have always answered my questions , and helped me out with my problems promptly. I had previously taken a few online classes and when I saw that they were classified in my file incorrectly, my adviser and others directed me to someone who could rectify it. Same as other 1-stars and dealing with their aid and bills. My family member went here 4-5 years ago and and we were always getting new bills for random stuff. Shortly after she left we called a Jack Johnson, who is no longer there apparently, and worked out 1 final payment and no more future bills. After a few days and several hundred dollars later I thought we were done with uc clermont forever. Then 3 years later they send her another bill out of the blue for 2100. We've told and sent them communications from that Jack Johnson and they dont care, they still sent to collections, so now we are going to get an attorney to see about fighting this. I would not recommend this place to anyone except those that dont care about wasting money, getting frequently annoying new charges and bills, and a school that does not honor the word of their employees.Jeff Brown

I dont understand why they hold your financial aid for so long after classes start when that money is to be used for tuition, books and supplies. I should be able to get what I need at the beginning of the semester without having to shop at the overpriced bookstore. I transferred from Cincy State to this college after taking a year off from school due to being frustrated with my experience at Cincy State. My time here at UC Blue Ash was a day and night difference. I had a wonderful experience at this college. The staff was much friendlier and the instructors actually cared about your education. I majored in eMedia Technology and the instructors I had were tough but fair. They took the time out of their day to help you understand what is going on and wanted to help you improve your skills. They will get grades up as quickly as they can so you know where you stand each week. The eMedia Technology program is very hands on which was great for me because I learn better this way. There are some lecture classes in the program, but the majority of them will be hands on. Every week you had a project due. Thankfully these projects were always do the next week so you could have plenty of time to work on the project. You were also critiqued by the instructor and your fellow classmates. In some of the graphic design courses, you have the opportunity to revisit projects that might have needed more work. Professor Sanders, who is the head of the eMedia Technology department, was probably the hardest professor there. He will kick your butt into gear. My advice is not to take his criticisms personally. He's straight to the point. He will be blunt but he is honest with you. He can be a bit intimidating at first. However, you will realize he truly does have your best interest in mind and wants you to succeed. He's not the only one. Every instructor I had wants you to succeed. The buildings are a little old. They have added on to the older buildings and renovated some of the old sections. During my last semester they were putting in a new building on campus. Parking can be a little difficult. There are two moderate sized parking lots in front of Muntz and Walters Hall. They have a larger parking lot behind those two buildings. The parking pass is included in your tuition so you don't have to worry about paying extra for parking. Just make sure you pick up your pass to hang on your rearview mirror or you will get fined. At one point, they didn't make it clear which was student or teacher parking. I ended up making the mistake of parking in the teacher's section on accident and got a $20 fine for the first offense. To dispute the fine, you had to go to in front of a student council. I decided it wasn't worth my time and paid the fine. Since then, they have put up better signs, and changed the color of the parking lines to better indicate what is student and what is teacher parking lot. Apparently it was a bigger issue in the past and they fixed it. The campus is pretty safe. I can't recall anything bad happening on campus. The cafeteria food was alright and a little on the expensive side. There are plenty of vending machines on campus that are reasonably priced. If you go down the street some and turn right at the light there are some fast food joints you can stop by to get some grub. Their Canopy servers are a lot more stable which is great for online classes. I recommend UC Blue Ash. It's a little more expensive but you get what you pay for.N Hoover

I have no idea what these 1-star people are talking about. Went to UC Main for my bachelor's, but opted to take certain classes at UC Blue Ash (ones that my academic advisor said I could). And with those classes, I actually had a much better experience doing them at Blue Ash. I was a main campus student and had to pay main campus prices, but it wasn't that huge of a deal because I didn't regret it. Never had any issues with billing or OneStop. Parking isn't that bad. But I had to take the shuttle, which was too small at the time but is now a huge charter bus.Eileen Crowe

A very nice campus! I had some time this evening so I walked over here from Summit Park (about a 40min walk). It was beautiful and there were paved roads or sidewalks the entire way. UC Blue Ash was very clean with publicly accessible restrooms as well as outside seating. (Note though: There is no public "UC guest" WiFi. At least as of September 2022, the only WiFi networks I could find on campus were all secured. I'm guessing you must have a student ID and password to access the network.)Robert Lin

Before we left, I felt like my daughter was gi ven enough of incentive to start moving in the right direction to get "back on track". Job Corp is all about money. They are suppose to have a zero tolerance policy but they don't enforce it. I attended this Job Corp in the early 90's and it was chaos from the start. When I first arrived I notice all the guys standing in the hallway trying to get a look at the fresh meat coming in to the center. It was really disturbing. I learned that many of the students there were VERY troubled some were gang members trying to recruit for their gangs others were constant troublemakers who were given a choice of jail or Job Corp and picked Job Corp obviously. I heard of rapes, blanket parties (you get a blanket thrown over your head in the middle of the night and get jumped by a group of students that didn't like you) underage drinking, drugs. Everything you could imagine went on there…and it wasn't just the students either. The staff was worst, instead of helping make students better they were helping with the corruption. They brought in drugs and alcohol and was using that to get sex from students. It was a MARRIED man's playground…Oh and the women staff members indulged on young males constantly. I knew someone who was pregnant by a R.A. and I heard of one who was pregnant by a security guard. I can say this if you stay away from the troublemakers you can get your trade and G.E.D. and once you do get out of there as quick as you can. My friends told me to write a book to warn parents about the craziness..maybe I will.Deborah Lewis

I personally disagree with the other reviews. For one Job Corps in general had a lot of growing to do in the 90's. All centers are run by separate people and standards. Like any school success is based solely on each individual. Job Corps definitely is not for everyone. If you are a willing and prepare yourself for the set rules and standards that are set for students you can do well. These programs are made to shape, form, and prepare young people. So don't enroll if your not ready be pushed. It's for your benefit. Yeah it can feel pointless, like being pusnished for nothing. If you can't push past the negitivtie aspects in the program your simply not ready for the trial of life. Now if you put effort into it and find it's not for you thats fine. I myself had left the program for medical issues. Still I whole heartily believe in all of what they do for young people! It can be a life changing experience, can even swoop others up when it's the last thing to save them. While others can't handle it for whatever reason they have, that's okay. Cincinnati JC is a great place for second chance education, this place is for those who either dropped out of school or want an opportunity to take up an trade. I'll give a brief testimonial of my experience here and my outcome. Long story short, graduated with my high school diploma, welding certificate and academic and dorm certificates. Went to college, stopped went back to job corps again in Kentucky, graduated with (Electrical/ Telecommunication certificates), now back in college for an Mechanical Engineering Associates Degree with a 3.1 G.P.A. Recently, got married, and had a daughter. Yes, going to this school and the other, were tough experiences because of peers and staff, but if you carry yourself upright and focus and keep God first no weapons formed will prosper. Very disappointed with the staff at this college. While many professors were nice at this college, the higher up personnel are the most disrespectful and rude employees I've ever met. The one star is for my professors. I'd choose zero stars (if that was even an option) for the higher up personnel. As a college focusing on Social Work, these behaviors should not be tolerated. In the NASW Code of Ethics for social workers, one of the codes is: Dignity and Worth of the Person. The first sentence in the description is, "Social workers treat each person in a caring and respectful fashion, mindful of individual differences and cultural and ethnic diversity." I can honestly say two of the higher up personnel at this college have treated me with more disrespect than I have ever received in my life. They made it impossible for me to finish my degree when I was in my last semester. I learned a lot at this school in my classes, but these two people ruined my college experience. I will never recommend this college to anyone. While Ohio State may be a good college as a whole, the college of Social Work needs some revamping. They need to be more caring and considerate. I, by no means did anything to deserve what they did to me. I truly believe it's very unfair. I'll state again, My LAST semester and they made it impossible for me to graduate from the social work college. It has hurt me so badly. I worked so hard to graduate and then poof, it's gone. My grade point average was 3.215. I worked so hard. I am so disappointed and saddened by what was done.Anastasia Hazlett
