I applied to one of their online Master’s program and got accepted for the 2022 Fall term. Filled out everything, paid the app fee, paid for all of my official transcripts (this would have been my 4th degree), got to the advising appointment only to be told that all of my questions I needed to “look into on my own”….. I work in higher education and these are thing the advisor should have been able to answer. Then she tells me the code to look at classes after the appointment, which was odd, only to find out the two classes I was going to register for were full and she wasn’t even looking at them at the time of the appointment. This is not how advising is supposed to work. Since I have an existing Master’s I wanted to see if any of my credits could transfer in with a maximum of 6 credit hours. If classes wouldn’t transfer due to program alignment, that would have been fine. However, the reasoning was “ Since you did earn the degree with those courses, he doesn't feel that we can also use them to complete the MA degree.” I’m sorry, what??? As a 4th year student who will be graduating in Spring 2018, I will be terribly sad to be forced to leave such a terrific school. UGA has provided me with all the opportunities I could ever want. I was looking for a college that would have all the resources I would need in order to go to Optometry School and UGA has exceeded my expectations. The classes here have truly prepared me well for the next 4 years of my life. I am grateful to have gone to such an amazing school. If you’re looking to go into the healthcare field and want to be best prepared for graduate school, UGA is the right way to go. Also, the campus is large and beautiful! After UGA, I will be attending the University of Alabama at Birmingham College of Optometry. So luckily, I won’t be too far from UGA. In addition to Athens being a beautiful city and UGA having a beautiful campus, I felt I was appropriately challenged as a student. We went on a college tour of New College of Florida. New College is a unique honors college that is part of the State University System of Florida. The tour was very informing about how New College focuses on academics, the arts, and a liberal arts college education. While New College is small, it has growth plans in place. The tour guide advised they have hired 15 new multidiscipline faculty members, with a goal to grow the college from about 800 to 1,200 students. Unique Observations: New College is located on Sarasota Bay, which makes for a beautiful and relaxing place to attend college, have special events, and participate in water sports. New College campus is split between the north and south side by Tamiami Trail, with a pedestrian walkover for students. New College is located very close to the Sarasota- Bradenton International Airport, which makes it very convenient to travel to and from the campus. Located in beautiful Sarasota, Florida, New College is closely connected with the local art, cultural, and outdoor recreation scene. The professors here are amazingly good! They are what's keeping me here. Most of the administration is terrible. When I got here I heard about it a lot from the senior students but I didn't realize how bad it is until I finished my first semester. Mold in your room? Too bad. Need your transcripts sent to another school? Too bad. Accidentally got billed twice for the meal plan? Too bad. Someone from another dorm in another building breaks something? Too bad, everyone gets billed. Want to live off campus? Too bad. So many students leave before they finish their first year and the administration is scratching their heads wondering why. It's a small yet personal school because the faculty are truly FOR the students. Everyone is involved in some way on campus, its not called an honors college for nothing. This complaint is directed at the anesthesia team which worked Saturday morning 6/11/22. My wife is here for labor and delivery and as a good husband I am here staying with her, taking time off work to do so. At about 6:15am on 6/11 I was awoken from a dead sleep by my wife shouting my name and someone touching my leg, surrounded by 6 staff members, nurses and anesthesia team for an epidural which is obviously a surgical procedure, this was completely unprofessional that they came in with equipment and staff ready to do this surgical procedure without someone coming in with a simple 10 minute warning so I can wake up in a normal way. Obviously when you are gathering staff and supplies you knew this (non emergency procedure) was taking place and they could have common courtesy. My wife is also in the medical field as an R.N. So I know the amount of spare/free time medical staff enjoys. Besides that they were voicing several times that we were the only pregnant couple on the whole floor today. Clearly nobody will be reprimanded or even spoke to about this incident because nobody truly cares about anything other than billing the insurance companies $20k plus but maybe it will reach one couple deciding where to have their baby. It’s painfully obvious that they waited until the last minute as shift change is at 7:00am. This was complete disrespect considering this was a planned non emergency procedure and any person should be given a 10-15 minute warning before being jolted from bed, to maybe use the restroom, brush your teeth, splash some water on your face and basically wake up. Again I will repeat thus was non emergency so there is no excuse other than employees which are too comfortable with their job and lack of supervision and professionalism. Look If we have another child we would surely choose another hospital. I will also escalate this complaint to the hospital director as well as post this review again on any other site I can find.Damon Martinez

LABOR & DELIVERY: Rock-star nurses Stephanie, Julissa, Katie and ALL the others. Special thanks to Katie for bringing an issue to the Dr.’s attention that moved us from natural birth to C-section and saved us from a potentially drastic situation. Incredible attention to the smallest details we will never forget. POST PARTUM ( mom & baby rooms): Alexis took us from being fumbling rookies to feeling confident taking our baby home in a very short time. Non stop attention to every important detail and genuine care for my wife and the baby. Chelsea advised us the last day with great tips for after we got the baby home. Using them now. Operating Room: All the doctors and nurses in the OR ran like a well oiled machine and we never once felt nervous about any outcome. Dr. Vallejo, our OB, got to deliver our baby and was fantastic. All the doctors that watched us during our stay were top notch. Cafeteria: MPH should step up the food quality in the cafeteria for the staff that has to be there everyday. This place was INCREDIBLE. I'll start with the gynecologist Dr. Kraft, during my pregnancy, when I came to the doctor, he was very attentive, caring, and most importantly, he always treated every issue with adequate responsibility. Only the best and positive feedback about dr. C. KRAFT! I gave birth at the Morton Plant hospital, a very good hospital, I was a little surprised when I gave birth in the ward, but this is not the most important thing, the hospital staff, all the nurses are very attentive, competent in their matters, set me up only for a positive result, I am very satisfied. Meals on the menu in the hospital, everything is quite tasty, which is necessary for a future mother. I gave birth to Dr. Elvia Vallejo, amazing woman, also very knowledgeable with her help. She gave birth quickly and painlessly! Many thanks to the hospital doctors and nurses! A lovely, small theater venue with a fine, rotating schedule that features live entertainment of the musical and theatrical variety. Seating is comfortable. They have a bar with a surprisingly varied menu and you're welcome to take your beverages into the theater. Music filled the main reception area when we were there and the performance of To Kill a Mockingbird was pretty well sold out. The acting was of solid quality for the size of the venue. There are two theaters in the facility: one larger than the other, and judging by the posters hanging about the main entry, there are improvements coming to the facility. This theater is a cultural gem! It offers a variety of plays and concerts. Season subscriptions and single ticket prices are available online, email or by phone call, with no additional charges. Prices are very reasonable. Box office is not open for walk-up sales. Gift certificates and student prices are available. Presently, masks are optional but strongly suggested. I can not say enough about our local theater. On the outside, the staff is always so welcoming and friendly. The facility is nice and clean, and there isn't a bad seat in the house. Any show that I've seen on the main stage or in the Jervy theater have all been great shows and great performers. On the inside, both of my teenagers are growing up within the theater community. To say that I feel as though my kids are in good hands when they are there is an understatement. They are meeting great role models and hopefully. forever friends!Angie Vance

Apparently a Top 20 school. But beware of this place: -no letters of recommendation from faculty unless it’s your advisor -no fellowship advising and poor career services-forget it if you want a Fulbright or some other award -cost cutting with tons of adjuncts teaching electives -grad assistantships with no tuition support -office hours “by appointment” -grade inflation All in all it is a good school but to call it top 20 would be an overstep. Faculty seem to be invested in research not teaching or student relationships. As a pharmacy student, I had a requirement of taking some public health courses. These courses were excellently taught and provided a great amount of helpful and useful information. These included socially responsible public health initiatives and disease tracking, prevention, and control. An introduction to epidemiology was included. This information has proven especially useful during the Covid-19 pandemic. This university's health system is one of the best in the world.Cary Miller

I have been attending here now for almost 3.5 years. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management and I will be graduating in a few months with my Masters. The Professors and staff here truly care about you and your experience. I highly recommend to any adult learner. For the person who put a bad review, the school does not pay us for our words, we truly love it here. It is a small school with one on one attention with people who are very knowledgeable in there fields. would give zero stars if possible. They lost my wife's application for the nursing program after they conveniently got all our money for the pre classes. First they blamed my wife for not putting in her application, but then realized they misplaced it and their response was, "better luck next year." Another student in the class was denied for the nursing program after South university realized she was missing a pre req class that they forgot to put into her degree program! Their first priority is collecting your money. Its not a big deal to them if they screw up your program and you have to wait anther year to apply.Brandon Smith

I am currently a student here and if I could I would give it zero stars. The only reason why I am staying is because my teachers that I had on campus so far are fantastic. The admin side of this school is HORRIBLE! The lack of communication in the front office from registering for classes down to financial aid is a joke. I called last week for information and hours. They seemed put out on the phone and lied about their hours the day before thanksgiving. I drove all the way there to loma linda, in the rain, only to find they changed their hours to the morning. Their hours are normally 1-4 every Wednesday. I got there at 12:45 waiting in my car for them to open only to find out the closed at noon. If you need a Typhoid vaccine to travel abroad, Rite-Aid in Canyon Crest can special order it for you!Teresa Ohira

This was the worst experience ever…staff was horrible and lack of communication from the E.R. Staff , Doctors and the unit i was on. U push your call light and they tell u someone will be with u and never show up. I had to complain to the charge nurses about the care i received. Loma linda has went down hill. I went in for coffee about 1:30a.m. on July 11th. I asked the cashier if she would make coffee since there was only decaf available. She did so and I returned about 10 minutes later. I poured my coffee and as I'm doing so she became aggressive verbally and extremely rude. She was shouting at me saying I was rude when in fact I was confused as to why she would say that. I went to the counter to pay for my coffee at which time she said " You can just have it for free. I'm not dealing with this." I was confused because she was hostile and loud for absolutely no apparent reason. This woman needs someone to teach her how to treat customers. If she's having personal problems leave them at home. If she's unhappy at work then find another job. Each and every time I've seen her working there she is very sullen and unapproachable. In my opinion she doesn't handle public situations like an adult. But in this case I don't even know why there was a situation in the first place. She just lost her composure for no apparent reason and became very defensive and angry. I've never seen her smile. Honestly, she really appears not to like anyone. Ridiculous! She needs to be reprimanded by someone higher on the chain of command.Mary Webster

Update 730am sat 7.30.22 why the super stressed out guy working this morning is part of your team is beyond my comprehension. He's rude and obviously one request from a customer from losing it on every customer. Again, staff at this location is horrible!!! Nothing has changed. But hey, this is 7 11 now!!! Old review – Location is great and the store is ok, I wish the slurpee machine wasn't broke all the time. The lockwood ridge location never has issues with their slurpee machine. Staff is rude and they don't care and obviously whoever is managing this team doesn't care. These are long term employees too, so this can't be blamed on hiring shortages. I have repeatedly experienced this myself and repeatedly watched the staff be rude to other customers. This is not a corporate location so I question if training, coaching or secret shopping, etc….would even get done to help identify and correct?Kyle F

Going to graduate this summer semester. My experience here at usfsm was in every sense of the word, magical. The thing I love about going to such a small campus is that you are afforded so much more individual attention than you would be at a larger institution. This also means that there are significantly more opportunities for students to take advantage of. I went to Japan on a business scholarship for 2 and a half weeks (essentially for free) that is specific only to usfsm. I founded a prominent film club on campus, and even became student body president, designing and approving a $1.7 million dollar renovation of our student space from the ground up. I was shy in high-school, and the type of students here are too, but if you take the time to get to know everyone, they eventually help bring out the best in you and everyone else around them (even themselves). As for the comment that was made about advising, things are kind of in a bad spot right now, but I'm confident that under the leadership of Chancellor Stone things will be ironed out fairly soon. But overall, the small class experience, individual attention, and sheer multitudes of unique opportunities makes USF Sarasota-Manatee a force to be reckoned with.Alexander Benishek

USFSM proclaims to have a personable experience. Though this maybe true for some students; it wasn't for me. My experience as a new transfer student was VERY unpleasant, from the academic advisors to financial aid. I even reached out to admissions for help because I wasn't getting the resource and tools they represent at USFSM; still no help. I feel as though new students should have proper guidance in their first semester at least but everything they stated in "open house" has yet to be true. DO NOT ENROLL HERE. USF sent me to the St. Petersburg campus because the Tampa campus was “full,” despite there being off campus housing options still available. In summary, they relocated me to another campus that I did not want to go to rather than just inform me that I would not be able to have access to on-campus housing. I am an online student here, I am in the Alternative Medicine program, and i really enjoy my experience here! I started in September 2019, so nervous to start my educational journey, but i had a lot of help and guidance along the way! The staff always answered questions that I had, and always tried to check up on me to make sure i was doing okay. Currently, I am a work-study for the online division, and I love my job. My boss is awesome, and so is the online staff. Also, my current student advisor is super supportive and always communicates with me. She truly made me feel like she wants me to succeed and do great things. I have never had an issue with any professors either, any time i have been sick or had something going on that could affect my work, they always worked with me. The reason I wanted to go here in the first place was because of the Alternative Medicine program, but then on top of that, the fact that they have online classes, one course a month. This was huge for me since I am a young mom of 3, I needed to be able to do schoolwork on the go. The one course a month, is also great in my opinion. You only have to focus on one subject at a time, instead of being overwhelmed with multiple. Of course there are things that can be improved, like sometimes depending on your course, you may not like the book etc, but the great thing is that this university is HUGE on surveys. So doing the survey helps because then i get to put my input on any issue, and the school tries to really work hard on getting what the students need or ask. I definitely recommend this college to anyone. Take a chance!Syncere Morales

This is my second year at EU and, it's staring to get fun! Post Covid, the experience is elating. I arrive early to competent staff and accomplished a great deal while attending the Alternative/Integrative Medicine program. Coming to this school was the best decision I've made in my whole life. Everglades University is a prime example of a personalized classroom setting. The professors are like mentors. When you come to EU you'll receive guidance, encouragement, and a dare to come back after you've conquered the world and show them something new. The professors are teaching you the lesson on how to become a big fish in your field of study. Really patient staff; they have walked me through difficult processes, step by step; a number of times with a smile. Even the wild ones like me.
