The administration is not interested in offering equal access to education for parents who are looking to get one. The college is not interested in reestablishing the on-campus child care center. Also the administration knew the science building chemistry hoods were not functioning properly for years and never let students know. The professors are incredible but if you are a mother good luck because the college doesn't care that in order to access education, women with children (those who require an education for a chance to improve their children's future!) need some equitable student services. Don't take my word for it scroll through the reviews. Most reviewers are male even though majority of students who attend the college are women. Read into it what you will but the facts remain that the college has a child care center on campus but refuse to renovate it even though property taxpayers agreed to pay for it (measure g 2004).Melissa Martinez

The college incorrectly listed me as a non-California resident. When I attempted to fix this, I found that I could not get in touch with ANYONE from the business offices. Eventually, they started having a debt collector call me because I wanted to sort out the residency issue so that I would not be charged nearly $1000 for my classes. This has been going on for months now, I attempt to call their offices almost every week and no one answers me. I'm beginning to suspect that they are just trying to force me to pay the non-resident fee so that they can get some extra cash. All in all, I have had a horrible experience with the administrative services, and if I could get on the line with anyone, I would have been happy to have paid the appropriate tuition months ago.Laura Israel

Overall, the colleges is good. However, other colleges are doing much better. $ stars for the efforts in trying to become better. Recently they have started to work on the new Gymnasium building. Teachers and professors are good but they are very diverse. The teaching style of all the teachers differ and they might not be ok with everyone. So choose your class wisely. Overall the crowd is good but sometimes you might find some not so friendly people. I am not sure about the safety. I'm a male, late 20's student at USF, and this has been my experience: 1) Rigorous – Having had a decent amount of life experience before coming here, I expected it to be easy. I was wrong. As someone who has always been good at math, the math classes were all challenging and required a lot of time and effort to do well in. The same goes for their science classes. I had attended another, easier university before coming here, and the difference was huge. 2) Political/Religious – Being a catholic university in the middle of a very liberal city, there is a good chance that someone will at some point try to shove religion or liberal politics down your throat, with a higher probability of the latter. As someone who doesn't care for politics, I'd prefer if they were left out of the classroom. 3) Small class sizes – All but one of my classes have been under 30 people, with many being less than 20. There are personal, 1-on-1 classes for music lessons in guitar, piano, vocals, etc. There are ample staff to handle any problem and any and all issues I've had were solved quickly. Compare this to a state school with class sizes in the 100's and there is really no comparison. 4) Expensive – With an annual price tag of about 50k, plus the astronomically high San Francisco cost of living, it is incredibly expensive to go to school here. I came here largely because I had a full-ride scholarship, and would have seriously considered other options if I didn't. 5) Amenities – There are several large libraries, excellent quiet study areas, private music rooms with instruments, and the campus itself is quite beautiful. With the tuition comes a free public transit card and gym access, at a very nice gym. 6) Overall quality – The quality of the school overall is very high. I can't say how it compares to the likes of top schools like Stanford, but many of USF's professors have come from those big name schools. The combination of talented, intelligent professors and personal 1-on-1 attention make it a great place to learn and study.Tyler D

I transferred out of the University of San Francisco real quick. The school is expensive, the education is ok but the material is too easy, and the social life is garbage unless you're undoubtedly liberal. The professors were very nice and helpful, but anyone from the administration building is out to get you, ultimately this place is just a big money pit. Beautiful campus in the heart of the city but otherwise, a school filled with professors that don’t really care, poor accommodations for students with disabilities, extremely expensive, campus police focuses more on giving you parking tickets and people’s conduct rather than ensuring vehicles are not broken into. A benefit of this place find outstanding professors and good education. Tuition is not bad. This university is a growing university that deserves good reputations, but has dragged down by poor admin, HR, Dept Chair. Academic affair and chair make the whole procedure slowed down and dysfunctional. They keep getting deficits from under-enrollement and have a few million deficits from COM academic affairs and do not take responsibility. They sacrifice well run programs and the fund does not come back. Very low salary. San Francisco's poverty limit is $117K and I believe most are below the poverty level. Vallejo is the most diverse city of white 32%, Asian 24%, Hispanic/Latino 22%, Black/African American, 22%. COM admin and department leadership are far from the demographic diversity. It does not help. Non-compliance is coming back, past faculty who got paid, did nothing and is still on safety committee. The university needs biosafety officer. The university has warm culture and nice. Faculty and students work together and emphasize the culture. On the better side, some are very talented to fix the issues. They are willing to do extra duties for nothing and burn out. They are here for students and teaching. Standing ovation but students do not do well is not teaching. It has flagrant and bizarre academics and professionalism. Correct knowledge is what COM dean and chair say, but not the current state of understanding. If you say something, you will face a group of people who accuses you unprofessional and not collegial. This is how the review goes. This is how the evaluation works. Academics office promoted associate professor with only a master's degree – must have the highest degree is the bylaw. The university does not give resources, weakens faculty and say get the grant. dept chair messed paperwork that costs me $8,000, and continues to mess it up. I take pride in the job but not doing it for compensation! Do you know a short notice cost me a few hundreds? each time I arrange a baby-sitter. They squeeze salary, resource and smash the pride. MSHMS management is unprepared and is manipulative. They allow student bad behaviours. Pharm teaches wrong knowledge. Immuno is awful. The university has nationally recognized professors that can give insights to the whole university. They are the ones that give reputation and lead the university. The department is ready for the next step with better leadership. It has good faculties with quality. It is not for somebody who stays for a stipend creating a cylo-like culture not following policy and regulations. Those create a sub-culture of non-compliance. They make everything very difficult, make small issues big. They blame faculty who is trouble-shooting the problem. Such leadership is not needed. Admin should update the dept and program leadership. Sadly, similar goes to some researchers who are extremely hostile and blame others for their faults. A researcher has nearly no paper published but very critical to others. They spilled something nasty in the lab, did not clean it up, and blame the university. They demand more teaching for job security when losing the grant. It is THEM who make trouble. They come as a group saying unprofessional, but professionalism is not how many say it. Same goes for admin. We need better professionalism standards. IT still keeps breaking down after upgrades. paperwork is kept messing up. facilities give no response, new vending machines still eating money, scheduling is a whole mess. budget is poorly managed- where does faculty fund go? Orders take forever. Learning center CILT is newly developed, but is not well-organized for rapid changes in teaching. Lectures are diminishing. Students seek assistance but are not getting it. They should focus on retention and focus on something nice.dr nik

Classes in the Grad School of Education provide practical information relevant to the classroom. They have a library that is always open, and a number of relevant focus areas for today's teachers. However, they're overrun with bureaucratic drivel removing students from their program multiple semesters in, due to their own clerical oversights during admission and have had people other than the professor run classes. The syllabus and rubrics wont always match up and you'll be denied a grade. Dont ever expect to get the benefit of the doubt, and never delude yourself into thinking anyone there cares whether or not you are successful. You will hit wall after wall with them unless you are the quintessential student without any outside responsibilities or any interference from real life. In short, it is a decent program as long as you don't expect to matter as a human being or a teacher.Meghan Hansford

TUW has exceeded my expectations so far. Not only is communication direct and smooth, the assistance from enrollment counselors like Kim, and academic advisors, is excellent. I begin classes in late August but have been guided in a sense that I feel comfortable and confident about beginning my first term in the Masters of Arts in Family and Marriage Therapy program. From financial aid to registration, TUW staff is there for you along the way. I attended a small private college for 2 years and a public state college for 2 years. My sons (currently nine years old) have been training at the Brookside Tennis Club for about two years. We have been training with Coach Steve for the private lessons and the club in the afternoon clinic when time permits. Brookside is a great club to help the young kids improve their tennis skills. Their drills are designed to help the kids to improve their fundamentals and match plays. And the coaches' feedbacks are catered for each kids' strength and weakness during the drills and match plays. The club also has youth players at different levels so you will always to be able to find the right player to hit with your kids. I also like how Coach Steve operates the private lessons: Focus on the fundamental. This is exactly what nine year old players need. Without a solid foundation, their tennis skill growth will hit road block much sooner. Reinforce the technique. Do not expect the kids can learn a perfect forehand ground stroke in one or two lessons. Coach Steve reinforce the technique he has taught during his lessons and he is also consistent with his requirements. Engage with parents. Coach Steve kept the parents engaged during the process. From time to time, he forwards me videos that can help the kids to shadow swing at home. I also forward the home training videos to Steve. He would reply with his comments quickly. Make it fun. While being a disciplined coach, Steve has a good relationship with kids and keeps them entertained. My boys enjoy playing tennis at the club and cannot wait to come to the private lesson every time! I’ve been at Brookside training with Steve for about 3 years and in that time have made a huge amount of progress with my game. Steve and the other coaches run a great program centered around developing a “great base” and mastering the basics. This tennis academy has trained multiple juniors who have gone off to play high level college tennis and is currently training many more future college athletes. I would highly recommend Steve’s program to anyone looking to take their game to the next level. There are a couple different classes at Brookside that focus on specific groups. There are programs for adults and young kids as well as an elite program for the home school group and more high performance tennis players. Steve also works to help the people he trains find the right racket and tension, and he strings rackets for the club as well as anyone who is in need of a string job. Our son Koshin started going to Brookside Club of Saratoga from July 2020. Steve Roberts runs their junior training program. This is the most complete tennis program i have seen in Bay Area. Unlike other tennis programs in the area, not just tennis technique, but fitness, yoga, mental strengthening, endurance, discipline. He brings in experts in each of these traits. Koshin was UTR 5 when he started. in less than 1 year, he moved up to UTR 8. Coach Steve is personally available on call/text almost every day. He follows up on every student in his program personally and keeps parents up to date. He also comes to watch his kids in local tournaments when available and also accompanies players for major National tournaments. Apart from all this, he also maintains high standards on behavior, honesty and integrity. I am very very impressed with the way Steve runs the program. This was a confusing process for me , it was my first time scheduling a car rental. When i went online it was through Expedia, and the pick up was at the air port. When my 73 year old grandmother and I got to the airport We experienced “technical” difficulties due to the lack of knowledge I had on where to get our vehicle. I confused Enterprise with Expedia. Well we went to the 6th floor like the sign said and found out we where actually with National Car rental. We spoke with the man directly next to expedia and he was very hard to understand. He told us to go back downstairs so drug my grandma back down the 6 floors to speak to the clerk there. This customer service rep Tim , did not acknowledge the answers asked directly to him. There was no eye contact or acknowledging our questions just straight typing. I had more questions I wasn’t able to ask because he couldn’t answer the first one for 4 minutes. Very easy return process in the rental car center and a quick elevator ride and walk to the airline check in counters for flights. Smooth return and excellent service from National, as I've come to experience with each rental trip. Upon returning vehicle to this time I noticed that my final charges were much more from my initial price. Jason was very proactive and in checking in on me as I was unloading the vehicle I explained this concern to him. He immediately took it upon himself to look into the discrepancy. He worked quickly to figure it out, explain it to me, and then remedy the issue without any hassle, questions, or concerns. Amazing guy. Jason and his team at National SJC were fantastic. As a long time National customer, you come to expect certain things, such as, a car being available when you need one. Twice now when flying into San Jose, they didn’t have any cars for me to rent. This is advance booking too, not same day. It is very strange, confusing, and annoying. You would think it would be as easy as getting a car from another location, but no, it apparently isn’t. So twice now, after 10 loyal years I had to rent from someone else. If you are flying into San Jose airport in California, it is important you have another rental car rewards program so you don’t get surprised when you try to book your trip. I called last week for information and hours. They seemed put out on the phone and lied about their hours the day before thanksgiving. I drove all the way there to loma linda, in the rain, only to find they changed their hours to the morning. Their hours are normally 1-4 every Wednesday. I got there at 12:45 waiting in my car for them to open only to find out the closed at noon. Very meaningful experience – strong academics, with high work load, as you would expect from a top tier EMBA program. You should expect to have your days stretched as you juggle work, family and school commitments. My class was full of thoughtful and accomplished individuals across a wide range of functions. Berkeley-Haas is known for tech, but that did not mean that my cohort was overly tech focused. Median age was in the late 30's, spanning 30 to a little over 50 (I believe). Lots of real life experience in this group that made the classroom experience very interactive and much deeper as a result. At a programmatic level, the immersion weeks were excellent – Silicon Valley Immersion provides a total inside view on the valley, startup culture and access to founders and funders with the superb Toby Stuart. Our international immersion focused on emerging markets in Brazil ranging from sports marketing (run up to the Olympics) to entrepreneurship and great access to folks from Google Brazil's CEO to BNDES to individuals running startup accelerators etc. Washington DC was a tour de force with Laura Tyson – amazing access to policy makers, lobbyists, staffers etc (won't name drop here, but suffice to say the Berkeley network really opened doors). The academic foundations were great and provide a very solid business school education. Two threads emerged of particular note. The first is leadership – Berkeley-Haas lives by its defining principles and encourages a rigorous evaluation of one's own capabilities and challenges, starting with the Leadership Communications immersion with Mark Rittenburg, the Leading People course with Dana Carney, Trust Based Relationships with Rajiv Ball and the excellent Exec Leadership course taught by Jenny Chatman. It's something of a hidden strength for Haas. The second if entrepreneurship and new venture funding. Between Toby Stuart and the excellent Maura O'Neill who teaches wildly popular electives on new venture finance students get an A-grade exposure to what it means to be an entrepreneur, and through face time, lectures, field-immersions, role play, case work etc, etc. it's possible to really gain a deeper dive into what it takes to build a successful startup. I came into the program as an "advancer" – ie. staying with in my field looking to further my career by building in formal business training. I achieved that goal with room to spare, more interestingly though I came out feeling very interested in the possibility of leading my own company. It's a bit of a cliche, but I can't think of a better word – it's a transformative experience. Advice for future applicants is pay attention to the defining principles, they really do mean a lot at Berkeley-Haas. If you find those meaningful, Berkeley-Haas can be an amazing fit. Dean Rich Lyons is a phenomenal leader for the school and he has successfully enshrined an underlying culture that feels quite different to other schools. Great feeling to be at the place … revered by many in business communities.. one of the best business schools in usa and in the world . Our 11 month long certificate of excellence program brought me here for 2 one week sessions back in 2014-16. Loved this place . Wish I could visit this place more often .. best of the best become faculty and best of the best become students here .. amazing place.. Program was unique . Faculty were friendly . Did things simply .. explained most difficult part with such ease and then there was a meeting with dean of the college . Such a beautiful campus and one of the newest buildings in Berkeley. These buildings produce 0 carbon emissions and instead use solar panels to generate energy. Bathrooms were a little dirty and stinky but overall it looked like a pleasant environment where students were being respectful and exchanging ideas. The closest parking lot is the Stadium parking as it is right across the street so I imagine it gets pretty busy on game nights. Very nice place to visit with lots of history. This Business School offers MS in Finance,M.B.A. approved by A.A.C.S.B. and more Management programs. It's about 60 minutes drive from Los Angeles. I came to this school and it is constantly changing. Especially with the pandemic slowly bringing things back. They are remodeling plenty and the campus is beautiful and very spread out. You can enjoy the little critters and plenty of flowers and trees to stare at. This school has plenty of history and beautiful views. I was an agriculture-based major, and had several invaluable opportunities for hands-on experience provided for me during my time at the university. Like most things, I could go through and nitpick every issue I had, but my overall reflection on the university is positive, so I'll abstain. One of the best private universities in the world with their academics and campus lifestyle. Everything here is super clean and organized. I was really excited to attend but overall it wasn’t much different than community college at least for Gen ed. my excitement peaked week 4 and by week 11 of the semester I realized what was ahead of me and how the school is kind of a crazy mess. Having ethnic studies tie their bodies to the Muni tracks and an on campus anti abortion protest with bloody pictures was definitely a bit much And not made better by the pleasant Marchant booths the fallowing week. My department I’ve heard is basically a mess though unfortunately. My CC was state if the art and this place has some buildings that are authentically 1950’s and untouched it’s kind of scary so I try not to think about earthquakes given that Fine Arts, the library and Humanities are probably the safest buildings on campus. It feels impossible and hopeless here because almost nobody lives near campus and everyone commutes so it always feels dead. This factor makes it very hard to feel/get connected on campus to any degree and make friends. Don’t get fooled by impacted programs it doesn’t exactly mean they are “good” it just means the school is cheap and hasn’t built new buildings like it probably should have(Cinema, science and kin departments that’s you!). Go here if they have a good program for your major that’s what’s important, not location, student life etc.Alex Merenkov

I knew people who loved it at SFSU and knew people who hated it here. Personally, I had a great experience at SF State. Obviously a negative experience was having to go online due to covid in my third year but I was still able to have a good experience here overall for undergrad. I wouldn't trade my time and memories here for anything and I'm thankful for all the opportunities SF State was able to offer me and the friends I made along the way. I graduated from San Jose State University in 2012 with a Degree in Art History and Visual Culture. Here is my overall take away from my time spent there. The Good: If you live in the area already, SJSU is pretty convenient. I was lucky enough to live near light trail so the included transit pass was great. Tuition at any university these days is going to be eye watering at best, but taking that into consideration the cost is not as bad as some other CSUs. Education is largely what you make of it, but for the most part the quality of the curriculum and the professors who work at SJSU are pretty high. I can think of only a few classes that were really not up to par out of everything I took there. Facilities in general are pretty decent. Its a crowded school without question but I never felt overwhelmed by it. Now the bad: The administration is painful at times. This become apparent on day 1 when I was placed in the wrong orientation group and forced to sit through seminars on classes I would never take. It continued all the way through the last day when the administration somehow lost track of a PE class I took and tried to tell me I couldn't graduate despite the fact that it was on their own transcript. Really great school, but it is mostly what you make of it. As a transfer student, I find that the school is interested in helping you succeed and offers a lot of opportunities for you to get involved, get help, and get through. Once you are in your program (can only vouch for Teachers Prep), the teachers are so good and dedicated to helping you move through the class and are pretty centered around helping you learn what you need to for your career. Only trouble I have had with the school was hang-ups at admissions, but after talking to so many different administrative branches and programs at this point (transfer admissions/financial aid/different departments regarding courses and waivers/counseling dept) I really appreciate how easy they are to get ahold of and how willing and effective they are to help you through your issue. Honestly, commuting sucks, but it is really worth it for the quality of education SJSU offers. Plus, the campus is rather pretty with lots of nooks and crannies around campus, is conveniently located, and is heavily connected to its community and the cities around it.Katie Siddiqui

The schooling is great I am an engineering student and have had some success at SJSU! Professors and some staff are very nice to work with. HOWEVER, that is where it ends. The bureaucratic offices are horrible. Such as Housing at SJSU. Housing sucks! They refuse to aid the student. All complaints are either dealt with and solved in about a month or not at all. The WiFi that I pay for is garbage and hardly works ever, and when it does it’s only at 3am. The food is also not great. I over hear that all the food is local which is completely not true it’s from Sysco and another large food transport. Overall it is definitely not worth the money to live on campus because it SUCKS! I can only speak for CVC and it truly sucks. I’ve had a horrible experience here.Jack Hyland

I really just want to post this to say thanks to Dr. Ghorieshi and Linda and the others at Palo Alto Mind Body. You have changed my life. I don't really want to post all about my past issues with depression but it is fair to say I tried everything and nothing worked, I've dealt with this for most of my life and I had pretty much given up hope. I heard about ketamine infusions for people like me and wasn't sure. I read the PAMB website which is pretty good and then I talked to Linda on the phone a couple times. She runs the office I guess. She is really special, very caring. She talked to me and really helped me understand things. Most places don't take the time like she did. I met with Dr. G and it was the same with him, he really put me at ease. After my first ketamine infusion I went home and smiled at my wife and kids for the first time in forever. It was amazing. My wife actually cried that evening she was so happy. I've now had the initial phase of 8 ketamine treatments. Dr. G said I should plan to do booster treatments but to wait and see for now. I have not needed one yet. I touch base with him and Linda to let them know how things are going and so far so good. I can't thank them enough. If other things aren't working for you, take my advice and give them a call. These treatments are not covered by insurance but, for me, it was definitely worth the money. You also need to have someone drive you home after the treatment, so, it takes a little planning with someone that can go with you.Primo Scorso

I graduated from here in 2014 and have been making well over $100k a year as a mate ever since with just a bachelor's degree and a license. If you study hard and graduate from here as a mate or engineer, you will almost certainly find a high paying job. If you dont mind the life of a mariner, being gone for weeks or months at a time, but then being home for the same amount of time, this is a good career. If you actually want a high paying career from college, this is a good school. If you just want to learn liberal arts and then pay off your student loans while working at Starbucks, than go to Berkeley. This is not the kind of school where your mom can call in to bully a professor into giving you a passing grade or letting you retake a test. There was plenty of diversity at this school, and we all got along great, it didn't matter if you were LGBTQ or what color your skin was, we were all sailors in this together, and we all got through it by working as a team. The negative reviews are probably just people who had trouble with this school due to its rigidity and work load, had personalities that made it hard to make friends, and are just looking for a scape-goat rather than accepting personal responsibility for the reason they failed to graduate.Carson S

This school should be shut down immediately! It has a unique history of discrimination against minority’s! They have absolutely no diversity neither do they care. This place is horrible for anyone looking to a great opportunity! They have high turnover for instructors and treat minority’s like trash. We filed 5 discrimination complaints for my son he was treated horrible there. This place is run by “FAR RIGHT” politics and they provide huge protections for incompetent staff! The Corp is the most racist entity among any college institution! This place has high inequality and is an embarrassment! I’m so embarrassed to say I attended this school! Tax payers are getting hosed in paying for this place to exist. It needs to be shut down!! If you want to see modern Day Jim Crow at work just take a trip to 300 Maritime Academy Drive!Sarah June

Beautiful small campus. Probably best for students right out of high school who need structure. Good instructors but poor administrators. You’ll need to stay in constant contact with admin to ensure things are done timely, financial aide is handled and credit is given. Transfer students are not high priority here. My 2 sons transferred in and graduated. Should have been recognized for honors and leadership but the couldn’t even spell one’s name right and completely left the other off the program. After printing special programs for us, still spelled name wrong. Who misspells “Jeremy”? As they say, great place to be FROM.Lydia Pike

I am thankful that I chose Ms. Athena 100% Highly recommend, I felt nervous to do my driving lesson because it was my first time doing it with no experience. But she made me feel very confident about it. She was also fun to be with, kind, knowledgeable, smiling, happy and a very calm instructor, She made it exciting. Ms Athena also helped me a lot, she didn't yell at me, even if I made mistakes several times she has a lot of patience. If you can get her as your instructor you should do it. She's the perfect person to be your instructor. I have made my second schedule for driving lesson with her and I am look forward to it. FlorFlorife McTaggart

Instructor Dakota Hayes is right person for the job.She is very good at what she does. Whenever I made an error, she would understand why I made that error and explain nicely with drawings. Very cool and calm person. Very encouraging too. She had more confidence in me than I did. I learned how to park, lane changes, u turns, staying on speed limit for lane changes, left turns at traffic stop, right turns, yeilding to oncoming traffic and all that in just 2 lessons.Akshyamala Joshi

Had my first lesson today with Noel. I was nervous, but he made the experience very comfortable and calm. He brought us to a quiet residential area to practice, which I appreciated. His direction was clear and his approach was very calm and confident—it really helped me to also feel calm and confident…or at least, calm and less nervous! The time passed by very quickly and I felt like I learned a lot. Looking forward to my next lesson with Noel in a few weeks time.Caroline Carew
