20 Best Mph Programs In San Francisco, CA (2022 Updated)

I'm a male, late 20's student at USF, and this has been my experience: 1) Rigorous – Having had a decent amount of life experience before coming here, I expected it to be easy. I was wrong. As someone who has always been good at math, the math classes were all challenging and required a lot of time and effort to do well in. The same goes for their science classes. I had attended another, easier university before coming here, and the difference was huge. 2) Political/Religious – Being a catholic university in the middle of a very liberal city, there is a good chance that someone will at some point try to shove religion or liberal politics down your throat, with a higher probability of the latter. As someone who doesn't care for politics, I'd prefer if they were left out of the classroom. 3) Small class sizes – All but one of my classes have been under 30 people, with many being less than 20. There are personal, 1-on-1 classes for music lessons in guitar, piano, vocals, etc. There are ample staff to handle any problem and any and all issues I've had were solved quickly. Compare this to a state school with class sizes in the 100's and there is really no comparison. 4) Expensive – With an annual price tag of about 50k, plus the astronomically high San Francisco cost of living, it is incredibly expensive to go to school here. I came here largely because I had a full-ride scholarship, and would have seriously considered other options if I didn't. 5) Amenities – There are several large libraries, excellent quiet study areas, private music rooms with instruments, and the campus itself is quite beautiful. With the tuition comes a free public transit card and gym access, at a very nice gym. 6) Overall quality – The quality of the school overall is very high. I can't say how it compares to the likes of top schools like Stanford, but many of USF's professors have come from those big name schools. The combination of talented, intelligent professors and personal 1-on-1 attention make it a great place to learn and study.Tyler D

I transferred out of the University of San Francisco real quick. The school is expensive, the education is ok but the material is too easy, and the social life is garbage unless you're undoubtedly liberal. The professors were very nice and helpful, but anyone from the administration building is out to get you, ultimately this place is just a big money pit. They'll find a way to fine you and take your money even if you haven't done anything wrong.Alex Douthat

Beautiful campus in the heart of the city but otherwise, a school filled with professors that don’t really care, poor accommodations for students with disabilities, extremely expensive, campus police focuses more on giving you parking tickets and people’s conduct rather than ensuring vehicles are not broken into. Did I mention is extremely expensive and they will not accommodate you well if you need to take time off for medical/family issues.Jake Bilyak

A benefit of this place find outstanding professors and good education. Tuition is not bad. This university is a growing university that deserves good reputations, but has dragged down by poor admin, HR, Dept Chair. Academic affair and chair make the whole procedure slowed down and dysfunctional. They keep getting deficits from under-enrollement and have a few million deficits from COM academic affairs and do not take responsibility. They sacrifice well run programs and the fund does not come back. Very low salary. San Francisco's poverty limit is $117K and I believe most are below the poverty level. Vallejo is the most diverse city of white 32%, Asian 24%, Hispanic/Latino 22%, Black/African American, 22%. COM admin and department leadership are far from the demographic diversity. It does not help. Non-compliance is coming back, past faculty who got paid, did nothing and is still on safety committee. The university needs biosafety officer. The university has warm culture and nice. Faculty and students work together and emphasize the culture. On the better side, some are very talented to fix the issues. They are willing to do extra duties for nothing and burn out. They are here for students and teaching. Standing ovation but students do not do well is not teaching. It has flagrant and bizarre academics and professionalism. Correct knowledge is what COM dean and chair say, but not the current state of understanding. If you say something, you will face a group of people who accuses you unprofessional and not collegial. This is how the review goes. This is how the evaluation works. Academics office promoted associate professor with only a master's degree – must have the highest degree is the bylaw. The university does not give resources, weakens faculty and say get the grant. dept chair messed paperwork that costs me $8,000, and continues to mess it up. I take pride in the job but not doing it for compensation! Do you know a short notice cost me a few hundreds? each time I arrange a baby-sitter. They squeeze salary, resource and smash the pride. MSHMS management is unprepared and is manipulative. They allow student bad behaviours. Pharm teaches wrong knowledge. Immuno is awful. The university has nationally recognized professors that can give insights to the whole university. They are the ones that give reputation and lead the university. The department is ready for the next step with better leadership. It has good faculties with quality. It is not for somebody who stays for a stipend creating a cylo-like culture not following policy and regulations. Those create a sub-culture of non-compliance. They make everything very difficult, make small issues big. They blame faculty who is trouble-shooting the problem. Such leadership is not needed. Admin should update the dept and program leadership. Sadly, similar goes to some researchers who are extremely hostile and blame others for their faults. A researcher has nearly no paper published but very critical to others. They spilled something nasty in the lab, did not clean it up, and blame the university. They demand more teaching for job security when losing the grant. It is THEM who make trouble. They come as a group saying unprofessional, but professionalism is not how many say it. Same goes for admin. We need better professionalism standards. IT still keeps breaking down after upgrades. paperwork is kept messing up. facilities give no response, new vending machines still eating money, scheduling is a whole mess. budget is poorly managed- where does faculty fund go? Orders take forever. Learning center CILT is newly developed, but is not well-organized for rapid changes in teaching. Lectures are diminishing. Students seek assistance but are not getting it. They should focus on retention and focus on something nice.dr nik

Classes in the Grad School of Education provide practical information relevant to the classroom. They have a library that is always open, and a number of relevant focus areas for today's teachers. However, they're overrun with bureaucratic drivel removing students from their program multiple semesters in, due to their own clerical oversights during admission and have had people other than the professor run classes. The syllabus and rubrics wont always match up and you'll be denied a grade. Dont ever expect to get the benefit of the doubt, and never delude yourself into thinking anyone there cares whether or not you are successful. You will hit wall after wall with them unless you are the quintessential student without any outside responsibilities or any interference from real life. In short, it is a decent program as long as you don't expect to matter as a human being or a teacher.Meghan Hansford

TUW has exceeded my expectations so far. Not only is communication direct and smooth, the assistance from enrollment counselors like Kim, and academic advisors, is excellent. I begin classes in late August but have been guided in a sense that I feel comfortable and confident about beginning my first term in the Masters of Arts in Family and Marriage Therapy program. From financial aid to registration, TUW staff is there for you along the way. I attended a small private college for 2 years and a public state college for 2 years. Similar to the small college, TUW is available for help and seems to truly care about the success of their students.maya stephen

This December, it will be two years since I ended up at UCSF PARNASSUS after waking at 3am feeling like I was dying, vomiting copious amounts of blood. The team of doctors who had my case were amazing! They didn’t think I’d make it the first two days. I didn’t want to live. I kept trying to write, “lLet me die!@ but was so weak they couldn’t even read my writing. I tried so hard to write but couldn’t get my hands to do what my brain was saying and I was intubated. I spent two months there before I was transferred to a transitional care facility. I cried when I left. I’d made friends with the nurses and didn’t want to leave them. My feet and lower calves were so swollen, I couldn’t stand, let alone walk. I am still in the nursing home and still can’t stand or walk but, that’s a whole different story! Today, I am like a new person. I want to live! I want to get out of this wheelchair and I desperately want to get back with my sweet Siamese, the love of my life. I have worked so hard and each day I’m closer to leaving. I’ve lost so much weight, I’m so much stronger and started PT again last week. The food at UCSF is varied and you have a menu to choose from! I can’t say enough wonderful things about UCSF. They are well run, organized, and compassionate. Their health care workers are astounding! I wish I could thank each and everyone of them in person!Nancy Holohan

Great for medical care, and you'll need it. Because their billing system is unable to get things straight. This means you'll get massive bills that should have gone to your insurance company. Of course, UCSF billing won't have taken the time to actually talk to your insurance company to understand what was filed incorrectly — they'll just bill you directly. Next you'll spend hours on the phone having stressful discussions about why you're getting a massive bill and why they haven't had an actual human conversation with your insurance company to sort out the error — even after you've talked to your insurance company and then also to UCSF to indicate the billing was done incorrectly. Will they ever talk? Who knows! Then UCSF says they'll call your insurance company, but they won't. They also won't call you back when they say they will. It's a fun surprise and you'll enjoy the theme park like excitement, except this is life and death of your finances. All this will lead to higher blood pressure, so you'll need more medical care, which is also great for UCSF — it's a good thing you've found a fantastic hospital. The cycle repeats indefinitely and will spiral out of control until you die. Their problematic billing issues have happened to us multiple times, and it's sure to happen to you, too. I truly hope this review reaches the correct person/people. Currently, if a patient at UCSF passes away, their MyChart account is instantly rendered inaccessible. A patient’s MyChart account holds almost if not all of a patient’s medical history/information and is extremely useful for patients and relatives of patients. For example, if a parent’s child passes away, the parent no longer has access to their child’s MyChart account whatsoever. This puts even more strain on the parent/family member to get information they want and or need from the MyChart account. I understand that this is most likely due to HIPPA laws/legal reasons, but I feel that parents and family members would somewhat appreciate being able to access their loved one’s account for at least one month prior to it becoming inaccessible especially if the parent/relative has established proxy access to the account. This would give the parent/relative enough time to gather the information they need from the account before it is closed. Again, i hope this will reach the right person so that maybe some kind of arrangement could be made to change this. Thank you.anonymous person

They havnt tested my blood in 6 months. I waited almost 3 hours until 5 then they tell me my case worker is off.i never have apointment the same time or day.i have diferant they didnr tell me why they swirched dr on me..i guess they dont care about me.Richard Longbow

My son was diagnosed with NMDA Acid Receptor Encephalitis in 2013, he spent 5 months in the hospital with this horrible auto immune disease. In July 3, 2017 we thought he was having a relapse so we took him to our local hospital Renown Regional in Reno. By mid August they were stumped, he was just getting worse and on top of it all he suffered a stroke and was left with a flacid left arm and leg. One of the Neuro's agreed with me that he needed a higher care hospital and she contacted the UCSF Neuro department, Dr. Ritchie (the attending) took one look at his medical records and said "we want him". My son is only 34, and thanks to the deligent, compassionate care he received at UCSF he is alive and doing much better. They left no stone unturned and ran a multitude of tests on him, the Dr's are all on top of everything and explain each thought and test to you. The nursing staff is wonderful and to beyond the call of duty, The CNA's are so on top o f the patient needs, you never ever got any form of attitude from them. When he arrived at UCSF his auto immune levels were dangerously low and his depakote levels were critically high. Within 24 hours they had him stablized and alert which he had not been for weeks. As it turns out he was suffering from the Varisela Zoster virus, not an relapse of NMDA. The treated him with Acyclavir and saved his life. This hospital is where anyone should go to received the best, up to date diagnosis and treatements. Thanks again to all of you, Dr. Ritchie, Dr Yoo, Dr. Vitt, Dr. Cafferelli and all those whose names I have forgotten. God bless your entire team !Kim Clark

Amazing doctors and nursing staff. Different teams of specialists do rounds to check in about upcoming procedures, answer any questions or just check vitals, motor skills, etc. There was one particular specialist and one particular nurse that rubbed our family the wrong way and could have improved on their bedside manner, but other than that I have no complaints. We had one of the best neurosurgeons in the world and a host of other specialists who are top in their fields yet so friendly and ready to explain anything that might need clarification. They even worked with other campuses to make sure we had everything we needed during our stay. Kudos to Nurse Sue, Nurse Julie, Nurse Rieko, Nurse Yulena, Nurse Maggie, Dr. Calfe, Dr. Abla, Dr. Kanguro (spelling?), Dr. Robles, the anesthesiologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and all the other teams and specialists that personally stopped by, introduced themselves, did exams and consultations and just supported my family through this process. If you have a neuro condition, this is the place to be. Kudos to UCSF neuro ICU.Gina Greene

After 1 doctor said I'd had a stroke and I was sent home to wait for follow up appointments that I never got a call on, then I made another appointment on my own with a 2nd outside of my group and it was confirmed and had all the work in hand to be done but my medical group said it would be over 3 weeks to schedule me for the tests and others I was sent to Canada while others I never got through,….I ended up 2 weeks later in the ER! After that I was discharged with it as it being TIA only later to be told it was either nothing by one specialist and maybe a headache by another yet I wasn't functioning still on many levels and had no follow up appointments. 😢 NOT quality care! In ONE visit here the doctor (Dr. Meisel) has done more than my whole practice in over 20 years! He and this team are following up on things he has found not just from the stroke but a major issue overlooked and misdiagnosed for 20 years! I am more than pleased with the center, the doctors, the care, the staff, the thoroughness, the whole experience. 💗 Very thankful!Jo Jo Aberch

I love One Medical. I don't want any other medical provider, just this one. I recently transferred my services over to the Berkeley office, since I moved to the East Bay. But because One Medical is so awesome, I can still set up appointments in San Francisco, which is where I work. I would normally go to this San Francisco office. And everyone here has always been so pleasant and have just really made me proud to be a patient for One Medical. If I am not able to schedule an in office appointment, I am still able to talk to a PA over the phone, who can tell me what I need to do or send a prescription to my nearby pharmacy. This is extremely helpful. If I just have the cold or the flu, speaking to a PA over the phone, makes me life so much easier. Sometimes going to a doctor's office is a lot of work. It's probably necessary for other times, but knowing that this service is available, for times when I don't necessarily need to be in the office, is great! I really can't see myself going to another provider. I can't. You got me good One Medical. I'm in for the long haul.April Diaz

DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR HEALTH. I've been a member of One Medical Group for at least 6 years. I used to say they were the best medical provider I've ever had. Not any more. Most recently, I called to have a prescription refilled. I spoke with Wendy. Then I called and spoke with Melody because it wasn't sent as One promises. Then… I spoke with Corinne, who's job is customer quality assurance who apologized and acknowledged she didn't know why the ball got dropped and my prescriptions weren't filled. She said she'd personally take care of it. Now, I just spoke with Amanda who said it STILL hadn't been filled and had no reason why. This is three weeks of totally unacceptable behavior for a medical provider. Unfortunately I have no health insurance and must order from Canada… with a couple week's lead time. One Medical's incompetence is costing me hundreds of dollars and weeks of frustration and broken trust. Don't trust them. They are not the company they used to be. So sad to write this. They really used to be an amazing health care provider.Peter Lakis

Worst service I have ever paid for. I was told by friends if you paid $150 a year for this service that you would be able to get same day appointments in the city (SF). I commute to SF so I don't have a regular doctor hear so I thought the service would work for me. I paid the $150. Called to get an appointment. Got one about a 15 minute walk away later in the day. Went to appointment, checked in, gave them my medical card and then sat there for an hour past my appointment time. I got up to ask the receptionist what was up and she said there was a scheduling error and could I come back tomorrow. This is after I got confirmation of my appointment via email and sat there for an hour. How long was she going to let me sit there before they told me there was an issue. I called back and cancelled the service.Tony Harman

I had an awesome experience, I felt like it was the first time I had a Dr. that was really there for me.and was going to work with me as a team. I haven't felt like that in a long time. When I was first diagnosed my primary doctor called downed to Stanford an talked to someone at there and learned what he didn't know already to better help me. He was able to explain it to my kids and grandkids then, I've had a few since then. But sadly my PCP has chosen to go back to his first love an that is delivering babies. I wish him all the best but miss the hell out of him. So, with all that being said I hadn't seen a Neurologist in 5 years and I was really starting to have some exacerbations., 3 in a 3 month point. Update: It was difficult to schedule an appointment but once you get over it, you will be impressed by the doctors. I met with Dr. Gerdts who is so caring, patient and meticulous, he spent a lot of time reviewing my case with me, he listens and is willing to help in ways he can. At the end of the visit, he brought in a senior specialist, to provide me with even more reassurance, which was not necessary because I trust him 100%. I can finally put this crazy “MS” idea behind me and move on with my best life. I have been fortunate to find pulmonary specialist, cardiologists, orthopedic surgeons that specialize in the unique ability to diagnose and provide aid where others have given up for the last six years my health has improved immensely. I went to the Stanford Inspire Clinic for therapy. It was a great experience with people who really know what they are doing! Both my Psychiatrists and Therapist were with me 100% and honestly I couldn't wait to talk to them!Alex Michael

Very meaningful experience – strong academics, with high work load, as you would expect from a top tier EMBA program. You should expect to have your days stretched as you juggle work, family and school commitments. My class was full of thoughtful and accomplished individuals across a wide range of functions. Berkeley-Haas is known for tech, but that did not mean that my cohort was overly tech focused. Median age was in the late 30's, spanning 30 to a little over 50 (I believe). Lots of real life experience in this group that made the classroom experience very interactive and much deeper as a result. At a programmatic level, the immersion weeks were excellent – Silicon Valley Immersion provides a total inside view on the valley, startup culture and access to founders and funders with the superb Toby Stuart. Our international immersion focused on emerging markets in Brazil ranging from sports marketing (run up to the Olympics) to entrepreneurship and great access to folks from Google Brazil's CEO to BNDES to individuals running startup accelerators etc. Washington DC was a tour de force with Laura Tyson – amazing access to policy makers, lobbyists, staffers etc (won't name drop here, but suffice to say the Berkeley network really opened doors). The academic foundations were great and provide a very solid business school education. Two threads emerged of particular note. The first is leadership – Berkeley-Haas lives by its defining principles and encourages a rigorous evaluation of one's own capabilities and challenges, starting with the Leadership Communications immersion with Mark Rittenburg, the Leading People course with Dana Carney, Trust Based Relationships with Rajiv Ball and the excellent Exec Leadership course taught by Jenny Chatman. It's something of a hidden strength for Haas. The second if entrepreneurship and new venture funding. Between Toby Stuart and the excellent Maura O'Neill who teaches wildly popular electives on new venture finance students get an A-grade exposure to what it means to be an entrepreneur, and through face time, lectures, field-immersions, role play, case work etc, etc. it's possible to really gain a deeper dive into what it takes to build a successful startup. I came into the program as an "advancer" – ie. staying with in my field looking to further my career by building in formal business training. I achieved that goal with room to spare, more interestingly though I came out feeling very interested in the possibility of leading my own company. It's a bit of a cliche, but I can't think of a better word – it's a transformative experience. Advice for future applicants is pay attention to the defining principles, they really do mean a lot at Berkeley-Haas. If you find those meaningful, Berkeley-Haas can be an amazing fit. Dean Rich Lyons is a phenomenal leader for the school and he has successfully enshrined an underlying culture that feels quite different to other schools. I can't think of a better place to help you become the best "you" possible.Jefri Tamba

Great feeling to be at the place … revered by many in business communities.. one of the best business schools in usa and in the world . Our 11 month long certificate of excellence program brought me here for 2 one week sessions back in 2014-16. Loved this place . Wish I could visit this place more often .. best of the best become faculty and best of the best become students here .. amazing place.. Program was unique . Faculty were friendly . Did things simply .. explained most difficult part with such ease and then there was a meeting with dean of the college . Such amazing energy . 👍🌷👌 Beyond the program study .. friends one makes during attending programs is unquestionably and friendship of like minded friends will carry on for life long . Program is expensive .. yes .. one may argue about tangible benefits of this program but then … if desire is strong to touch excellence and not able to get wrong during your life while studying … this could be excellence program to attend to .. certain work experience is needed . Certain recommendations are needed to embark this bone but not tough. No GRE , no TOeFL, no ILETS, there Are certain assurances for better jobs after this program but then … there is no follow through ✍️✍️💐💐 Overall good program to go through provided there is strong will to pursue it. Lots of readings , lots of study , practice aspects of writing resumes , detail understanding of finer points of leadership roles , innovation modules etc 🌷🌷🌷Snehal Tralsawala

Such a beautiful campus and one of the newest buildings in Berkeley. These buildings produce 0 carbon emissions and instead use solar panels to generate energy. Bathrooms were a little dirty and stinky but overall it looked like a pleasant environment where students were being respectful and exchanging ideas. The closest parking lot is the Stadium parking as it is right across the street so I imagine it gets pretty busy on game nights. Very nice place to visit with lots of history. Highly recommend to any prospective UC Berkeley student.Jazmin Garcia

Review is an outsider's view of the campus. I recently visited USF on an informal walking tour. I was immediately struck by how beautiful the campus was and the surrounding neighborhood very nice (I had no idea!) There are some really gorgeous structures on campus and it's located in the middle of a neighborhood, but doesn't overwhelm it, nor detract from it. When I visited, it was very warm and there were lots of students enjoying the outdoors. I was particularly glad to see an ethnically diverse student population, not something you always find at other universities. In all, USF is an impressive looking school – small, urban and clean. I look forward to returning for a formal tour with my daughter this summer. 5 stars.Taylor Lyon

I was lied to by doctors there I was told by Dr. Hakimi "Even if I wanted to I cannot refer you dermatology cannot refer to infectous disease".That's a lie.And when a doctor Dr.Wei comes in and splits your hair apart looks says " I don't see anything" is she trying to insult my intellegence? What were dealing with is microscopic. I have lab findings of nematode in my gut and in my well water. Yet I was sent to a specialist whom did not even look at my labs. Went by my age and that I'm a female that that's when morgellons usually hits a person for some reason females at my age. Offers Risperdal or abilify without looking at my labs. I sent my case to a teaching hospital in Pakastani and they agree parasite. They deal with this stuff Dailey in other countries. My regular dermatologist whom refered me to ucsf is now trying to refer me to UC Davis infectous disease. It's sad because I had such high hopes for ucsf. My primary tried to get me to Stanford infectous disease but my insurance didn't cover it. I think morgellons is a serious disease. And if a person is going to be labeled with it than lab work should be done and lab work should be looked at. Not a dx by a person's sex and age. It's pt neglect and is the doctor working for a drug company or the pt? Apparently the drug company in this case. I am saddened deeply because I had high high hopes for ucsf.Sabrina Cesena

UCSF is absolutely amazing! From my very first stay here to my very last brain surgery. All the staff are wonderful and very caring for their patient's. Dr. Edward Chang and his entire team saved my life. On July 12 I had an Anterior temporal lobectomy on my right side. I am today 42 days seizure free!!! I may have epilepsy, but it doesn't have me. If you have epilepsy, don't give up! Get a second opinion. Be seen at UCSF. I am beyond thankful for my wonderful Neurosurgeon Dr. Edward Chang. He is not only brilliant, but very caring as well. pretty bad. I had testic issues and they basically said, you’re hurting, but we don’t know why… now you’re going to be discharged. Everything is still the same. I don’t go to the hospital often. Is this how it works?! If they don’t know they just pass you on????!!! At least radiologist was very friendly but they rushed to get me out. Maybe bc of military coverage. Dr. Knowlton of the UCSF Epilepsy Center is a brilliant neurologist. After years of having at least 3 or more seizures a month, I sought out the UCSF Epilepsy Center. During my first appointment with Dr. Knowlton he shared with me the likely cause for my seizures. I choose to have my seizures treated there at UCSF and he was correct! I encourage anyone who has seizures to visit the UCSF Epilepsy Center. They are among the best in the world. I'm currently 3 months post surgery and I remain seizure free. I'm very pleased with the care I'm receiving from the entire Neurology team at the UCSF Epilepsy Center. They are all genuine caring professionals.Casondra Young

Went is the brain surgery in 1990, at the age of 17. Establish with UCSF epilepsy division 1987, at the age of 14. Dr. Kenneth was my neurologist, head of UCSF epilepsy division, Maryann Ward was his nurse practitioner, that helped me with various things, Dr. John Walker was my neuropsychologist, and Dr. Nicolas Barbaro was my surgeon. After surgery 1990 was seizure free for six years. Everyone I worked with in the hospital itself and my doctors were outstandingly friendly, helpful, and understanding. I completed my doctorate at GGU and it was an incredibly rewarding experience. I was first drawn to the program because it was the only fully-accredited doctorate in finance in the Bay Area that could be pursued part-time by someone who also had a career. The experience proved to be so much more than that, however.. The full-time faculty who run the program are passionate about what they do, offering students the opportunity to engage in significant personal growth and deep learning. The faculty are also well suited to GGU's mission, combining, as they do, first class academic credentials with significant leadership experience in the "real world." There are two distinct phases to doctoral study and GGU's program delivers the best of both. The first phase is focused on core doctoral seminars that provide the tools and conceptual framework for understanding and conducting formal research. It was here that I came to fully appreciate the nature of the academic enterprise and begin to master the tools and techniques for its pursuit. The second phase involves the development of a research question that will result (if you're sufficiently diligent) in the production of a formal dissertation. This is the apprenticeship phase, where you work closely with your dissertation committee and, most especially, your chair. My own committee chair, Paul Fouts, was at once both guide and mentor, sending me back again-and-again to reexamine my sources, rewrite my proposals, and revisit the evidence. Each time, my dissertation got better. In the end, I was able to produce work that I believe will have a real impact on my profession. The doctoral program is probably the smallest part of what GGU does, but it represents the best of the University's mission and values. Beyond that, I can heartily recommend GGU to anyone who seeks to improve their skills and advance their career through any any of the University's many degree and certificate programs.Dave Yeske

My time here was slightly disappointed. First, the school's credentials aren't as well recognized compared to the other schools in the area, so many students have a hard time getting a job compared to students from other schools. Second, the school says they offer help to get students job, but all they do is review your resume and have you go out and find your own opportunities. Third, the counselors I had for business, kept mixing me up with other students and when it came time to discuss a problem, she'd forget the issue. She also told me I didn't need a class and then said I did. After taking the class, I found out I really didn't have to and wasted an entire semester with this school. Fourth, the resources may seem like alot at first, but the truth is, what really matters are resources for certifications. They don't have many resources that'll help and do not offer certifications for most programs. Fifth, the teachers and systems aren't as reliable. I find that some professors don't like it when you have questions. Some make you go to class to listen to the lecture and then still make you do an entire online course (might as well do online only). Some have a power trip and would make excuses for being late on grading or make "adjustments" to their grading on the syllabus after class is finished, messing up your entire semester. Most teachers are never up to date on their online courses. They either don't fix the dates for due dates or they don't open the assignments or just not clear on their direction. Sixth, there are a lot of students that are international here that get discriminated against. It's very disheartening when they have to report that their teachers are saying rude remarks or making jokes about anyone of color. Bottom line is, I regret coming here. While there were some great teachers, there weren't enough to count past one hand. Don't make the same mistake as I did. Get your money's worth elsewhere.K Y

WASTE OF TIME, EFFORTS, MONEY TO ORDER OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS, AND FRUSTRATIONS 0 STAR IF THERE IS AN OPTION, if I know that I have to go through all of this for nothing, I should listen to my people around me to take the Contra Costa College for my Fall semester 2017. It is just 7 minutes drive from my home and I don't have to deal with too many unnecessary things from other schools. The only thing I disliked about CCC was the tuition is too low that I will not get much from the tax return. The BAH in my area is 3500 compared with 4200 BAH in San Francisco, which is fair overall based on a lot of factors. If I can change my mind, I would go for my first option in the first place instead of wasting my time, efforts, money, and frustrations for some other schools that did not take me anywhere. On Monday August 28, I have received the email from GGU with the subject "GGU will support you all the way – from start to graduation!" To be honest, I was almost laughed my stomach out. If GGU will support me all the way, why did they require too many unnecessary things in the first place. Just let me take some classes first, then I will submit other less important things later, but that is not how GGU wanted. That is the best support I get from GGU all the way – from start to graduation. THANKS FOR THE WARNING! That is the best email Subject I have ever received from GGU, and it came on the day that the School Starts, but I was unable to start school. I was really excited to attend but overall it wasn’t much different than community college at least for Gen ed. my excitement peaked week 4 and by week 11 of the semester I realized what was ahead of me and how the school is kind of a crazy mess. Having ethnic studies tie their bodies to the Muni tracks and an on campus anti abortion protest with bloody pictures was definitely a bit much And not made better by the pleasant Marchant booths the fallowing week. My department I’ve heard is basically a mess though unfortunately. My CC was state if the art and this place has some buildings that are authentically 1950’s and untouched it’s kind of scary so I try not to think about earthquakes given that Fine Arts, the library and Humanities are probably the safest buildings on campus. It feels impossible and hopeless here because almost nobody lives near campus and everyone commutes so it always feels dead. This factor makes it very hard to feel/get connected on campus to any degree and make friends. Don’t get fooled by impacted programs it doesn’t exactly mean they are “good” it just means the school is cheap and hasn’t built new buildings like it probably should have(Cinema, science and kin departments that’s you!). Go here if they have a good program for your major that’s what’s important, not location, student life etc.Alex Merenkov

I knew people who loved it at SFSU and knew people who hated it here. Personally, I had a great experience at SF State. Obviously a negative experience was having to go online due to covid in my third year but I was still able to have a good experience here overall for undergrad. I wouldn't trade my time and memories here for anything and I'm thankful for all the opportunities SF State was able to offer me and the friends I made along the way. I just attended Class of 2022 commencement. I was extremely disappointed. This is the first graduation I’ve ever been to that never called out student names. The commencement speaker sounded like a political campaign. I graduated from San Jose State University in 2012 with a Degree in Art History and Visual Culture. Here is my overall take away from my time spent there. The Good: If you live in the area already, SJSU is pretty convenient. I was lucky enough to live near light trail so the included transit pass was great. Tuition at any university these days is going to be eye watering at best, but taking that into consideration the cost is not as bad as some other CSUs. Education is largely what you make of it, but for the most part the quality of the curriculum and the professors who work at SJSU are pretty high. I can think of only a few classes that were really not up to par out of everything I took there. Facilities in general are pretty decent. Its a crowded school without question but I never felt overwhelmed by it. Now the bad: The administration is painful at times. This become apparent on day 1 when I was placed in the wrong orientation group and forced to sit through seminars on classes I would never take. It continued all the way through the last day when the administration somehow lost track of a PE class I took and tried to tell me I couldn't graduate despite the fact that it was on their own transcript. Overall take away its a decent education if you put the effort in.Jeff Streit

Really great school, but it is mostly what you make of it. As a transfer student, I find that the school is interested in helping you succeed and offers a lot of opportunities for you to get involved, get help, and get through. Once you are in your program (can only vouch for Teachers Prep), the teachers are so good and dedicated to helping you move through the class and are pretty centered around helping you learn what you need to for your career. Only trouble I have had with the school was hang-ups at admissions, but after talking to so many different administrative branches and programs at this point (transfer admissions/financial aid/different departments regarding courses and waivers/counseling dept) I really appreciate how easy they are to get ahold of and how willing and effective they are to help you through your issue. Honestly, commuting sucks, but it is really worth it for the quality of education SJSU offers. Plus, the campus is rather pretty with lots of nooks and crannies around campus, is conveniently located, and is heavily connected to its community and the cities around it.Katie Siddiqui

The schooling is great I am an engineering student and have had some success at SJSU! Professors and some staff are very nice to work with. HOWEVER, that is where it ends. The bureaucratic offices are horrible. Such as Housing at SJSU. Housing sucks! They refuse to aid the student. All complaints are either dealt with and solved in about a month or not at all. The WiFi that I pay for is garbage and hardly works ever, and when it does it’s only at 3am. The food is also not great. I over hear that all the food is local which is completely not true it’s from Sysco and another large food transport. Overall it is definitely not worth the money to live on campus because it SUCKS! I can only speak for CVC and it truly sucks. I’ve had a horrible experience here.Jack Hyland

My wife and I just completed a successful kidney transplant procedure. We wanted to recognize Dr. Gahr for her help on this journey. She has been incredibly patient, informative and knowledgeable on virtually every topic we have needed input on. She responds promptly to inquiries and we can sense that she truly cares about our physical and emotional comfort levels. The dental services are good. Getting an appointment set up has been impossible for 3 weeks, even leaving a message for callback. Today things changed. I still waited on the phone, first 45 minutes then 30 minutes. I called back one last time. I elected to leave a message and a new electronic option verified my phone number and then asked for a short message with name and date of birth and reason for appointment. And they mean short. I said my name and most of my birthdate, no time for purpose of appointment. But! The message said someone would call back in an hour and someone did! Huge improvement. The next call should be from my student dentist to finally set a appointment. It's been an adventure.Phyllis Horneman

This is a really great place when you get done to work at half the price. I adore my law school. Exemplary faculty; personable staff; a top-notch security team; lauded alumni history; and a student body unparalleled in diversity. Going to school is like visiting my family every day. The two academic buildings are closely situated directly across the street from each other. No struggling to race across campus in between classes here. Everything you need is within a 3 minute walk. (The school will be adding a new state-of-the-art building soon). Hastings is a law school campus–no other courses are taught here. Students are steeped daily in the law, without competing for space or focus with other types of academia. Being in the heart of Civic Center, Hastings is moments away from City Hall and the Federal Courthouse. Students are regularly invited to be active in school decisions and to offer feedback. Hastings has myriad activities, panels, events, and groups to choose from in every selected legal field. The support faculty is incredible. There is someone to answer your questions and guide you, every step of the way. I know it's normal to talk up your institution, but I truly wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Law school is inherently challenging. You should love where you are learning. I absolutely do. Some of my personal favorite perks: bi-weekly meditation group, and a performing a-capella group, Legal Notes, of which I am a co-president to date (2L).Mica Lee Williams

Id like to express how great ful I am as our children have succeeded in there academics at Hastings. It’s taught, not just them but us, a rofedsion and responsible way of life. And I’d like to add the city looks much better environment. The irony can't be ignored when a school of law straddles the lawlessness of the Tenderloin and the Market Street/SoMA area. The school at night time is a one stop circus and zoo like view of the lifestyle adopted by a seemingly endless supply of hard drug users from all over the country. As well as the "hondo" refugees from Honduras who sell them what they seek. And let me tell you, they don't have to seek hard because it's all right there. One of if not the last great open air drug markets. Relatively safe environment. Just look out for needles and don't leave anything valuable in your car.Ben Talley
