What an amazing campus. First opened as a military college, then became available to civilians, women and fully integrated in 1963. After graduating with my doctorate in Environmental Toxicology in 1996 I have never returned until 2020. Although the city has changed drastically, the campus' beauty and attention to the most current curricula still remains. They have a beautiful new Business School and the campus life can't be beat. Add to it to beauty of the nearby mountains and lakes, 90 mins to Atlanta and overall excellence in education you cannot go wrong.Bill Henriques

Up to Clemson for the day to visit with our Uncle who just turned 104 years in July. He's doing great, and we had a great visit. One of the most amazing men, and human being I've had the privilege to know and love. We'll be back as soon as we can. He retired many years ago as a Professor at Clemson.Greg Veal

Beautiful campus grounds for those who want a scenic hike, attached to the Swamp Rabbit Trail. Great for taking scenic pictures, walking the dog, or admiring the Georgian architecture. Public restroom available, multiple trails, a lake, streams, a bell tower, fountains, etc… will be back to explore further for sure!Christina

Not a student, but we went for a very enjoyable walk around campus with our dogs. The campus, especially the lake, the koi ponds, and rose garden, is very pretty and we enjoyed how there was parking near Swan Lake. Just passed through whilst visiting Columbia, and I was quite impressed. The trees were outstanding and tall, the buildings were old but still looked good, and there was a fairly distinctive campus feel despite being in a rather large city. The palmettos make the campus much nicer and southern-feeling, and the various live oaks around campus give a very “Old South” feel. Cannot attest to the academics, though I did see a lot of “frat boy-types” and wondered if this school has that type of culture. The few people I chatted with were very nice and welcoming, and I would recommend visit the McKissick Museum or other places around here to get a sense of the culture and history of the school. I never really heard of this place until we moved to the South. Then I saw a bunch of shirts with these roosters on them. Then one day I wandered down the road to Columbia just to see what the place was like. Then I found myself on this campus. It really seems like it has a party scene to it and it kind of reminds me of Arizona State University in some ways. It seems to be a fun place to go to school. The library was AMAZING! It even had an exhibit with some civil rights history items on display. I loved every bit of it. All and I think this is a great school. Nice and hilly too.noneya business

I did my PhD here as an international student and the experience was somewhat jarring at first and there seems to be a great deal of tension at the university over perceived inequality in the grading metrics and greater politicization of the faculty. Nevertheless, there are some fantastic people present who take time out of their day to see to your requests unlike some universities where the process is conducted from a financial perspective than a human one.Narcissus

It’s not a good financial investment. We had one child graduate from St. Joe’s, after having spent over $100,000, but we pulled the second child. We were led to believe that if our child was academically successful at St. Joe’s then they would receive ample scholarships for college that would offset the financial commitment we would make to SJCS. Our child was successful, academically, but they only received the state lottery scholarship that could be used for their college of choice. We pulled our second child because of the disappointment over the first child’s financial loss, in addition to the fact that SJCS didn’t offer the range of AP courses that public schools did. In our experience, success in AP classes (having access to many subjects for AP participation) in addition to academic success will set your child up for a more favorable entry into college. All of the top 3 private schools in Greenville use the same “smoke and mirrors” encouragement to lure you into their, supposedly, rigorous programs but the payout when your child goes to college (after you’ve spent nearly $150,000) is not as substantial as it would be if you save your money and send your child to a carefully selected public high school.Debi McCoy

The rejection letter to me about my upcoming 6th grader was offensive, shocking, and perhaps financially motivated. After receiving the rejection letter and forwarding to other current and past St. Joe’s families for their feedback on the offensive wording in the letter, the response from all of them was that the wording directly insulted my son who is very kind and was excited about the school. It’s now hindsight a very good thing that he will not be attending St. Joe’s. If you need financial assistance for your child attending, apparently they must already be at the top of their class in order to maintain their educational financial statistics, instead of providing a growth experience.Wendi Carson

Hell on earth. enjoy paying for an overpriced nightmare high school experience on top of years of therapy afterwards. This was 10000x worse than public school and the courses lacked. I like uniform but its not fairly displined girls don't have to tuck in their shirts and middle school is set up like a prison the class gets punished for other students actions Christianity is also preached on the side which I hate and which is illlegal I even had a teacher give me a bad grade because I didn't know what moses did. Some teachers make you walk in single file lines and stop in the hot sun every 5 minutes if a student talks or is out of line.gospel music is blasted by some teachers. But on the other side high school you have a lot more freedom and your not treated like your in a FEMA camp. The food is getting a little better But isn't consistent with its menu. Some teachers are amazing though miss Austin mrs. Gray and Saxon and miss johnson should get a golden apple. Some teachers do nothing but give speeches. There could be more field trips.Mulatt TV

It is a pleasure to share the neighborhood with the students and staff at this school. They are always respectful of sharing the street & sidewalk around the school. They never harass pedestrians or cause a traffic jam even when everyone is arriving at once in the AM! I would strongly recommend going elsewhere for grad school. The TA and RA opportunities are slim to none. It seems like the school isn't really interested in helping people find opportunities. They will work much harder to ensure that your tuition is collected than they will to help you progress as a student or as a professional in your field. The student/institution relationship leans more toward being parasitic than symbiotic on the part of the school. Very hard to navigate if you're not plugged in ahead of time. If you come in without connections you will struggle greatly.Jack Cahill

Worst ER i have ever been to. First time i came here i waited over 2 hours to been seen. My mother came here and had to wait over 3 hours to be seen. The pediatric ER i have waited over 1 1/2 hours to be seen. I dont recommend this ER what so ever. I wish i could go somewhere else but this is the closest hospital to my house and the urgent cares are all closed after 8pm.Morgan Pena
