To all high school seniors looking at colleges, tour Iowa State! Iowa State was pretty low on my college list but I decided to tour it anyway. Coming from Wisconsin, my first thoughts were it was a college in the middle of no where with an easy acceptance rate…sketchy. But the moment I stepped foot on campus for my college visit I knew it was the place for me. It's a division one school but the beautiful campus and friendly staff made it feel small. Iowa State was the only college I applied to and I am more than happy with that decision. The professors and advisors truly care for every student and want you to succeed. For the university being in a such a small town, there is so much to do at ISU. From intramural sports, clubs, going to sporting events, joining greek life, exploring Ames, there is so much to do. Every fall, I am reminded as to why Iowa State University is ranked as one of the most beautiful campus in the country. All the fall foliage makes me want to keep snapping photos like an incoming freshman visiting the campus for the first time. Some of the best locations for looking at fall colors are: 1) around the campanile, 2) central campus (near Pearson Hall), and 3) along Osborn Dr. If you want to avoid getting judged by others for taking pictures, there are plenty of photo opportunities at Reiman Gardens. However, be sure to take those photos quickly as peak fall colors only lasts for about a week.John Hsieh

Beautiful Campus, offers a variety of majors and a multitude of colleges. Very helpful faculty and always friendly people on campus, very welcoming and open environment. Large expansion occurring throughout campus in the engineering and sciences. Definitively recommend visiting in the fall when the leaves are changing or in the spring when all the flowers are in blossom.Wil Q

Came to the school for a conference. It was very comfortable, spacious, and while there was a ton of construction which made finding the place challenging. There was lots of parking, but we were also here at 7am on a weekend. I was surprised there were minimal electrical plugs in the classroom but for our purpose that wasn’t a big problem.Big Traveler

I tore my Achilles on Sunday night which is definitely overwhelming and very painful. Got into Dr. Vineyard on Monday to get checked out where he was very knowledgeable and made it a very quick and easy process. He was able to get me into surgery less than 24 hours from our visit where he answered all questions I had plus provided more information on questions I didn’t know I had. One day post pone surgery, I’m feeling great and confident I chose the right individual to help assist me. It’s also very helpful the staff there were very kind and made sure I was comfortable through the process. Definitely better than my past experience else where when I tore my ACL.Paul Velasco

This review is more on the billing side of things. Dr. Vinyard was excellent. The bill pay was very clunky and asked for a lot of information in comparison to other medical providers I've been to The other provider's billing system was slick and much more user friendly. The billing platform at Iowa Ortho required what I deemed unnecessary information for just making a payment and took much longer to complete the transaction.Ron L

This was the second hip replacement I’ve had done with Dr Craig Mahoney. He is an excellent surgeon who cares about his patients and his work. I am so happy with the results of both operations as I’m able to live my life without pain and enjoy my activities. My grandmother was there a week before we removed her. She has dementia and arthritis making her daily life difficult. In the week she was there they did not changed her sheets, clean her room, give her a bath, or give her half of the instructed medication she requires for daily life. I have never been so mortified by the behavior of the "nurses". It took me 10 minutes standing at the office area before i finally had to loudly ask if anyone was willing to help or if i needed to go somewhere else. They didn't keep the dry erase board in her room updated showing her the correct day of the week and current nurse (which for someone that can barely remember where she is, that is incredibly important!). There is no call button for a nurse so she would need to scream until someone decides to check on her, God forbid there be an emergency. I have been in several assisted living and rehab facilities between both sets of grandparents and I have never been so mortified by the absolute neglect of a persons basic needs. If you are fully mobile and prefer to be ignored then this place is great for you. If you care about yourself or your loved one you will avoid this place at all costs. Its an absolute shame that this behavior is allowed.emily

From my experience as a traveling CNA this is definitely one of the BEST facilities that I have worked in. Wesley Acres is clean, stocked with needed supplies, and the staff is helpful. Fantastic place with all levels of care. Beautiful gardens and most of all exceptional care. Only places they fall short is Austin Center needs two aides over night and more activity taylored to them and the memory unit. My Experience was Horrible from the time I Arrived until the time I left. I went to the ER because I fell getting out of the shower and the Doctor ordered a CT scan after the CTScan was done the two female Radiologist ask me if I needed help getting up and I said so one took one and the other took the other hand and I couldn't believe what happened next, they snatched me up and my Neck and Head snapped back so hard and instantly some of the worst pain i have ever felt in my life and that was the reason for me going to the ER because of my Neck and they knew that. I just had Neck Surgery July 2022 and my Neck is still excruciating Spasms in my Neck worse than before I went th the ER. I wish I knew the two Radiologist names because they need to be reported because my Neck will never be the same again.Michael Nevills

I can't even begin to tell you the horrific care my family received on the Yonkers floor. Nurses sitting on their cell pho es while 45 mins of my family member sitting in his feces. His room had feces on his portable toliet, at the foot of his bed. The trash was over flowing and stunk. His nurse was nasty with both of us. He fell out of bed twice even though he has a video monitor and bed monitor. One fall ended in 16 to 18 stitches and featured eye socket. When he was in CCU they were phenomenal!! And so were the doc's. But on Yonkers he had Jessie, or nurse Rachett. I love nurses and God bless them for all they do. But this was nuts.We can not get any answers for him. We ask and the nurses just say I don't know.Denise Carroll

6 STARS! Never had such a positive experience when taking family members to other emergency rooms.Today I took my daughter to the Unity Point emergency room. They were efficient in getting her started on fluids, medicating her appropriately, and quickly getting lab work/scan completed in order to diagnose her condition. Staff was clearly busy but very sensitive to meeting my daughters needs, all while maintaining positive/upbeat interactions with us and each other. The pharmacy quickly dispensed my daughters’ prescriptions and the free valet service promptly delivered our vehicle to us at the pharmacy exit. Amazing!Lori Henning

While I did have a decent experience at St. Ambrose, I can never forgive the "university" for completely discarding the Spring Class of 2020. On the day of our commencement, they aired a 12 minute marketing video and did not even read the names of any gradates virtually. Since then, they have promised the Class of 2020 that they would hold a special event and that has never happened nor do I think will happen. They did not even refund commencement fees. Now I hear, they are kicking the music department out of a building that the MUSIC DEPARTMENT RENNOVATED THEMSELVES because the university failed to provided adequate rehearsal space for the growing program. Even worse, they want to use Leclaire Hall for office space even though there are dozens of open office spaces throughout the university. They have no regard for the arts nor for the Class of 2020. They will never get a donation out of me EVER. The way this university handled the pandemic in unacceptable and soiled for 4 years of a pretty decent college experience.M. Cake

My experience at St. Ambrose University is awesome! It’s one of the best Universities here in IOWA. I am an International student at St. Ambrose and there are many international students here also. The University is diverse, you get to know about different cultures especially if you’re luck to have an international student as a roommate. Great and amazing place. I have so many memories from the time spent here. I lived on campus while attending classes. I worked in the library, athletic department, and campus recreations office. After three years of an ongoing issue with my now nine year old son, we were able to have hope again after working with Kari Smith in the physical therapy department at DMU. After seeing doctors, neurologists, and another physical therapist things weren't getting better. Now that we have found Kari, there is relief in sight! The Physical Therapy Clinic and Osteopathic Medicine Clinic are both amazing. I have experienced numerous other PT clinics and none use the thorough advanced methods that DMU uses. When the practioiner knows what they are doing (like they do at DMU) dry needling is a game changer in relieving pain and getting your body functioning better and optimally.Jean McCroskey

Do NOT come to the office!! You'll HAVE to do everything with a computer, b/c the registrar CAN'T do anything in person. ONLY via a computer. The experience with the registrar guy is very poor 🙁 Please make sure to have everything you need in hardcopies and write at least 2 directions on two pieces of paper and an email with the same direction on it. Or else he won't do anything and will not bother to ask you if he needs anything from you. Make sure to say in the email that you need to know if he get your email and mails or not. to send your transcript to a designate school or program. Go to Drake's ordering transcript website. Do all of the work by yourself and attach whatever document you need to attach. Complete! BTW, it cost money to do so. And they WON'T send your transcript to a P.O. Box. The only option left is "mail" – no tracking, take a long time to get there. At DMACC they do everything for free 🙂yoom surber

Awful. Glad I transferred, because they do not care bout student's future. Also, their food is terrible, the school is ruled by Greek life only, it's dangerous, and it has a lack of support for student mental health. As a first year, my FYS was taught by someone with no experience and was an unorganized class that didn't follow it's syllabus at all.Begoniagirl

My band director graduated from here and graciously offered to give me a tour of all the places where he got hit by a car on campus. Also we saw like 20 emergency vehicles so 5/5 for keeping us safe! Go bulldogs!Phoebe Osgood

Fantastic Doctors, Physicians assistants, and staff! I was however very, very disappointed that while walking to and from the hospital, we walked on the sidewalk on hospital property and the fence between the sidewalk and hospital were lined with hospital staff members smoking right next to the "no smoking" signs. I was there for my wife who has stage 4 lung cancer, she never smoked a day in her life. Having to walk past dozens of University of Iowa hospital staff members smoking on the property while leaning on the fence that had signage stating that this is a smoke free facility. What a kick in the gut for my self and my wife with stage 4 lung cancer having to breath that 2nd hand smoke for a block and a half. I expected better. Absolutely disgusting and to be in the medical field and subjecting patients to 2nd hand smoke is a joke.Zach Cretsinger

The conference in England 2018 was amazing almost fourteen thousands people were there.As well the marathon went great from all over the world with multi talented, brilliant, educated, and open minded people. The University of Iowa Public Health Building is on top of a hill right next to Iowa River. The building is new and well-equipped. The top floor has the best view of the UI campus and downtown Iowa City. Plenty of metered parking is available around the building for cars. A nice pedestrian bridge over Hwy 6 connects the college to west campus.Amin Vahedian

Great space – lots of couches and places to study. Wifi is off the Univ of Iowa – so super fast if you're on eduroam. Good water fountains, great restrooms. Would only like the path from the medical school to be more pretty – but oh well.Phil

The UIowa College of Public Health is amazing. The building achieved a Platinum LEED rating- the highest level possible. The student commons areas are everything any student could want. The views of the Pentacrest are incredible.David Noyes

After having foot surgery in December, 2021, I was still having some residual foot pain five months out. My podiatrist suggested I do some physical therapy and recommended the Physical Therapy Department at Des Moines University. I’ve had past experience with several physical therapy clinics but never with Des Moines University. I have to say that my experience with Des Moines University was, by far, the best I’ve ever experienced. The support staff personnel, both in the downtown and West Des Moines locations are extremely proficient, kind, and caring. They are top notch! My physical therapist, Sharon Johansen, was the best therapist I have ever had the privilege of working with. She offered a wealth of information, exercises, and practical tips that, in short time, brought me significant improvement and pain relief. She not only took a sincere interest in my case, but she was also very personable and kind. I cannot recommend her enough to anyone seeking competent and effective physical therapy with a personal touch. While I have given Des Moines University Physical Therapy five stars, they deserve many more.Bill Mogolov

I wanted to be able to get up and out of chairs, and up and down from the floor to be able to play with my grandchildren. My son told me to reach out to the DMU PT Clinic. I contacted them and started working with Dr. Mach. Dr. Mach was a very good listener, and helped me to set my goals. She was encouraging and sympathetic in starting my exercise program. She made the exercises easy to follow, and was a terrific teacher. She pushed my limits, but never pushed so hard that I over did it. I saw progress after just a few sessions, and with her help I can follow and continue my exercise program at home. I am excited to be moving better and am on my way to achieving my movement goals! The facility was, clean and welcoming from the first step in the door with the receptionist, to the use of all the equipment which was clean and in new condition. My experience with Dr. Lauren Plum from the DMU Clinic/Physical Therapy was one of the best ever I’ve had with any physician/Healthcare provider. My initial contact with Dr. Kari Smith and follow up appointment with Dr. Plum was a great experience- super welcoming and kind. I could have not asked for more. Dr. Plum was professional, patient, kind, very knowledgeable, and an excellent listener. The College of Nursing is currently in the middle of an exciting remodeling process! The building was built using the brutalist style of architecture from 60s and 70s, which means that the interior was dark, full of concrete, low ceilings, etc… But now, they are opening up the space to make large classrooms that are full of natural light, power outlets, and technology. They've incorporated TILE classrooms on the ground floor for a wider variety of educational opportunities. I've absolutely loved being a student here. The professors are kind, thoughtful, and push you to go outside your comfort zone. The professors here really work hard to help shape the students here into compassionate, hard working, ambitious, and excellent nurses.Alex Lee
