18 Best Mph Programs In Cleveland, OH (2022 Updated)

I am an alumni. B.S. Chemical Engineering 2008, M.S. Biomedical Engineering 2012. I chose CSU as my undergrad school over Case Western because Case is ridiculously expensive and I received a full scholarship to CSU. My mother told me I could choose whatever school I wanted but if I passed the scholarship up for 40k+ a year in debt she would kill me. Thanks mom, you were right as always! The Chemical and Biomedical Engineering departments are outstanding. Great faculty, small class sizes, professors that legitimately care about the students but also won't put up with BS from students that aren't taking their own (or their classmates') education seriously. The head of the BME department at the time had a major impact on my life. He personally took interest in helping me get a full scholarship during the second year of my M.S. (Choose Ohio First scholarship), helped me land a Teaching Assistant position AND a fantastic internship. THANK YOU! CSU is not perfect though. I had some bad professors (and also excellent ones) in the math and physics departments. That is hard to avoid at any school. Many of the school departments are much, much bigger than mine so you may lose some of the personal interest from professors when your graduating undergrad class is more than 12 like mine. I tried to make use of the career center multiple times but they were not helpful in job searching. Also the Fenn College of Engineering (now the Washkewicz College of Engineering) building is woefully old and dated. It's so bad that in my second year in 2006 a metal fence had to be put about 10 – 15 feet in front of the building facade so no one would be injured by the crumbling concrete. I wish I was joking. The engineering labs were also filled with old equipment, the classrooms were missing technology that is standard in other schools like projectors. Note that this was all before the very generous donation from Mr. Washkewicz so I hope things have improved. The only other complaint I have is that my graduation requirements changed a couple times during my B.S. and I had a VERY difficult time finding out if I was on track for graduation. In fact I wasn't sure that I was going to graduate until I got confirmation about a month before graduation! Even with these complaints I had a great experience at CSU, which is why I went back for my M.S. after briefly considering Ohio State University. It was my professors and department that made the decision easy, they had a great positive effect on my life and I owe a lot to them.Jim

I'm a business student currently in my third year at CSU (transferred from Kent State) and have nothing but good things to say about this school. The campus is beautiful and right in the center of Downtown, giving you easy access to tons of interesting things to do in Cleveland. The general vibe of the campus is very laid back and friendly, and despite what other reviews seem to say, this is a very liberal/progressive and diverse school with many students of all walks of life. I feel I have received a perfectly adequate education at CSU, as someone who cares mainly about getting ready for a career and moving into the business world. There are good professors and bad ones, but the majority of them have been very likeable and knowledgeable. Many of my business professors have lots of real world experience and many years working in their field. I cannot comment on the other departments, but the business school is excellent and has many career services available to students. As a commuter student I love the RTA pass they provide, so I don't have to worry about driving and parking downtown (yes, their parking situation is pretty terrible here). Finally I'd like to say shame on the idiots who are giving my school 1-star reviews because of a faux pas made by the administration. The first amendment comment was misinformed, but it's far from supporting the offensive poster. Anyone trying to paint CSU as anti-LGBTQ because of that poster debacle is ignorant.Steven Barnes

I love Cleveland State. I am a biology pre-med major and the department is great. However, if you live in the dorms, don't plan on getting your mail anytime soon. It takes at least 10 days added on to the normal mail time to receive any type of letter or package. I ended up just getting a P.O. box at a local post office. The education and clubs are great. There are so many great opportunities here to take advantage of. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone who wants to live in the city and get a great education.Madison Chapanar

BW provides a well rounded education. With that being said, your program of study will most likely consist of general education courses. BW degree programs usually do not provide a focused study on your major. Instead, the focus is liberal arts. I attended BW for a short time and majored in Criminal Justice. During that time I discovered that most of the classes for my major had little to nothing to do with Criminal Justice. They were mostly liberal arts courses. This is true of many other degree programs. No matter what your major, you will only take a few classes that are actually relevant to your major. In summary, if you enjoy a small campus atmosphere, if you are satisfied with a degree that does not provide a focused study on your major, if you want some prestige on your degree, and if you are willing to spend $900 per credit, then Baldwin Wallace is certainly the place for you.Tracer Films

It's a good school and the campus is really nice. Best thing is probably the professors. I loved 95% of my professors. Worst part of the school is the surrounding area. It's pretty boring, but then again, that's not why you're going. Also, the weather sucks, but for a smaller school it has a lot to offer in the way of activities.Cortney Zeiler

My daughter went to BW and we couldn't have asked for a better college. You are not just a number, the staff is very helpful and caring. Had appointment with Nurse Practioner Kristina Robertson. Very nice, easy to talk to, seemed very knowledgeable. I did not have to wait long in the office before being taken back. Appointment was thorough but quick. Very nice office staff as well. I would recommend them for sure.heather copen

I had a total hip replacement surgery this past June. It pains me to read the bad reviews about C.C. as the doctors there literally " gave me my life back". I am very healthy otherwise but had very advanced osteoarthritis in my right hip. I was not able to walk without a cane and was in 24/7 pain for over a year. Dr. Nicholas Piuzzi in the orthopedic department was amazing as well as his staff. I was discharged 25 hours after surgery. I live in Erie, and the hospital set up my home OT & PT. My recovery has been much quicker than most over 65 and I attribute most of it to the surgical procedure. (minimally invasive robotic assisted) and the high skill of the doctor. I don't know about any other departments, but I was impressed with the skill and compassion and attention of all the departments. Did I come across someone having a bad day, sure, but I don't feel that's a fair assessment of the overall facility and staff . You are also sent multiple surveys to report rude or dismissive people. Overall I highly recommend Cleveland Clinic. My husband has an appointment in another department soon and I expect we will receive the same exceptional quality of care I received. My whole family in Erie goes to the Cleveland Clinic.Louise Zimmer

This is one the best medical facilities in the world. My parents loved the Clinic and I have doctored there for about 60 years. My wife is currently doctoring there. You are treated well by everyone there. If an employee perceives that you may be lost in this huge institution an employee including the doctors themselves will direct you or guide you to your destination with a smile. They have their own sworn police department so you feel safe anytime you visit their campus. Lots of gorgeous outdoor spaces and huge hallways inside so it feels like a mall with shops, restaurants and other facilities. Very efficient scheduling. In one 7 hour day my wife had three diagnostic tests and saw four doctors. Check out the menu if you are a patient. Not your ordinary hospital food. How about that tunnel leading from the parking garage to the Miller building.Thomas Bowen

Absolutely the worst. Zero problems with Dr. Mangie but as soon as I was switched to Dr. Ku, nothing but problems. Jen from surgery scheduling is incredibly rude. She will constantly reschedule your appointments without confirmation because there are more important patients. She acts condescending when you can't drop your job to make it to the same day appointment she set up after the hospital forgot yet another test needed for surgery. My mouth is pouring blood every day & I've repeatedly been told that there's nothing they can do but apparently wait months for treatment. Completely incompetent staff. Very clear all the money goes only into making the building look nice.Ashes Nicole

Love Case for all it offers. Amazing location, beautiful parks, botanical garden, museum and close proximity to city and all the landmarks make it well loved by all the students and parents alike. The MBA course i am enrolled in has been doing so well in terms of curriculums so far. Hope to achieve more as i progress into my second year!anshul gupta

A very clean university, inside and out. The workers in the area are very respectful n' cheery to coworkers n' customers. Nothing too problematic happens in the area which is very important. Only down side is; people don't know how to drive between 3pm -7pm.Kami Woodson

This beautiful campus nestled in a quiet residential suburb, close to the main arteries of traffic to access Cleveland, Ohio's cultural, sports, and entertainment venues. It has coordinated architecture, lovely landscaping, and is well and artfully lit. Neighbors frequent the campus as much as students do. During COVID there are fewer people, of course, but everyone seems to be responsible and follows the health guidelines. The only drawback is when driving on campus, because there are no more than two entries, one wastes a lot of gas because of the traffic pattern laid out. Also, there are 3 triangle-shaped marked to indicate each lane, over the whole campus, but someone painted these arrows 180 degrees from normal. The arrows point AT the driver, instead of indicating the direction one is headed. Also, of all the Universities and colleges in the area (at least 10), this is the ONLY one with just two highly guarded,, rigorous checkpoints by security. One wonders what they must be guarding. This is a lovely campus, with two of the US best Business (Boler) and Communications (Russert) departments. I go to JCU many times a week and am never bored.Pamela N.

Nearly a decade ago, I set foot on the campus of John Carroll. I thought I didn't want to go the university that was so close to home (I'm from Shaker). But soon, I discovered that Carroll is a school where you can find professors who are deeply concerned about your educational experience, and you, yourself, as an individual. I received a business education from true professionals in their field, not merely academics, and thrived in the boundless study abroad opportunities that Carroll provides. I am thankful for the memories, the friends, and the effort that the faculty and staff took to make my college experience personally fulfilling, and fruitful to betterment of others in my community.Ryan S

Excellent University. Has a great Leadership Development minor program. Also has one of the top rated business programs in the country for a regional University. No masks required in the classrooms. Update: for the start of the 2022 fall semester things are pretty much back to normal dividers are down in the classrooms masks are not required. If I could give them zero stars I would. I called on Thursday, Friday, Monday and this morning to get a refill for my grandma 2 medicines and needles for her insulin. They told me they would call them over. It’s now Tuesday and she’s been using the same needle so she able to get her insulin. Definitely going to be looking for another doctors officeTyisha Adorno

Re: the WIC Office located here. Everyone is always so helpful here. The wonderful lady at the front desk went beyond her duties to help me, and the nutritionists are all kind and easy to work with.Charles White

After researching top pulmonologists we felt Dr. Mazzone at the Cleveland Clinic was our top pick. The hospital itself is a well oiled machine. Dr. Mazzone was highly educated yet took his time with us both in his office and during procedure. Dr. Mazzone called me himself with my test results and continued to show understanding and patience. As a registered nurse I have interacted with many physicians, this one sets the bar very high.Tana F
