I have been a student of DePaul University – Law College since 2019. Before joining DePaul I was contemplating between DePaul and other Universities, I am so happy I made the right choice to join DePaul. Not only is it a prestigious University with many famous alumni names, but also because it is a University that has made the list of the top best Universities for many years. Depaul has the best facility you can hope to study under, the administration are very helpful and my advisor, is one of the best, always available whenever I needed assistance, guidance or help. If you are a graduate of DePaul, you can be sure that employers will want to add you to their staff. Being part of DePaul, is being part of a large educational family. There are two campuses, the main one is located in Lincoln Park and the other one is located in the Loop, right in the heart of the business hub, if you are attending College of Law or College of Business. There are two huge libraries in the Loop campus, with access to Starbucks, as well as to, Barnes and Nobles. In both Colleges you have cafeterias amd study lounges. There is a Toastmasters club at DePaul and many other groups and clubs to join. Also, DePaul offers a help center, fpr students who may need extra help with certain classes, as well as, a writing center for whenever you need your essays reviewed, with feedback and assistance in improving it before submission. With all of the above and more, I could not possibly list all of the things DePaul os known for, or offers, but I can tell you one thing, if you happen to choose DePaul and become accepted, be sure you are part of the many successful people who will graduate with pride. You can be a full fledged patriotic American, but just because your parents travel and you may have a foreign transcript (from high school/ middle school) you are deemed an international student. To add insult to injury this particular issue entailed the student already having graduated from a neighboring community college. Yet still, they are deemed international. An obvious protocol set in place to guzzle money out of the student. Wasn’t even thrilled about their level of academics to begin with, so not having this school as an option isn’t a loss in the slightest for our family. I appreciate their immediate display of a lack of sensical protocol, because it made us deem this school unfit without wasting any further time. Thanks DePaul!The RE: Brand

Hispanic Heritage event went on without a hitch. Free of Problems and controversy. Entertainment was Great Food was Awesome. The Highlight was the introduction of the Main Speakers The New Era Young Lord's. Also some Associates and Friends from there Early Year's. The Bomba group provided good Entertainment and a Festive Atmosphere. In the Middle Sixties you could count the Minorities attending DePaul. The all played on the Basketball team. Vast improvements have been made. Opening Enrollment and and Opputunity. We can Thank Groups like the Young Lord's who brought to the light the Contridiction's. Great Job Latino Students.Rory Guerra

The University of Chicago Booth campus is one of the oldest higher learning institutions in Chicago. The Campus is spread across the South Hyde Park and surrounding neighborhood. Had a chance to stop into the Harper Building and the welcoming atrium and staff. The administrative staff here are very friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoy the mix of old buildings and new ones. Going in the old buildings, is like go into a time capsule. Student's seem to enjoy the campus, as well as residents of the neighborhood. Months after earning my degree, I’m still recovering from the great mess that is NEIU. Our teachers ranged from grossly incompetent to straight up vindictive, although a few were good. We, as a collective, had to report one of our teachers to the dean due to her mind boggling incompetence, inability to stick to any sort of schedule, inability to create assignments, explain them, set deadlines, and provide directions or rubrics (i.e., teaching 101… and this teacher is in the Dept of Ed!)… the list goes on, but what’s worse is that the dean totally gaslighted us. She didn’t hear us out AT ALL and made us feel like idiots. The sequencing in our program made zero sense and the “required” classes weren’t even offered. Went to the head of the program (who was another teacher we almost reported for refusing to follow 504 plans which is a federal law, but we’d given up by then) and she said those classes weren’t even a thing even though their website had them up. Magically, the classes that we said attracted us to the program in the first place disappeared from the website that week with no acknowledgement from the program director. There’s just no direction here at all. It was hell. I’m so glad it’s over. 2 stars for cost and a few decent, kind, and smart teachers. If I could do it all again, I’d really consider going into debt at a more expensive university.Betty L

The school is very diverse and a lower budget choice. I graduated from their science/education programs. I found my degree in Biology to be challenging and largely based on book memorization with occasional hands on experience. Their lab experience seemed dated compared to other institutions. This tends to be the nature of Biology, but I wouldn't say they excelled in making the experience amazing or poor. Their education program however was very lacking. It seemed out of touch with employers/districts needs. There was little to no focus on methodology, classroom management techniques other than case studies. These are the two most important skills needed in order to achieve student mastery. They did not model what they taught and I found many of their classes to be instructor led discussions about student based teaching. There was an immense amount of time spent on lesson plans and preparing portfolio's. While both are important record keeping practices, they should have been interwoven into a curriculum focused on skills based learning.becky harwell

This review is based on a tour that I took, and I will talk about most of the pictures that I took. There are monitors in the hallways. They have the weather on them or events. There's a useful board that has all of the students’ activities. When you walk around you will see the balloons that were put together creatively. The presentation was about majors, tuition, and housing. They were kind enough to give us a tour of The Nest. There is plenty of parking space. The lobby was well designed. It had a quiet place to study, a gaming place, and a gym. When we went to see the model of the apartments. I realized that there were alarms and fire extinguishers, which is a good thing for safety. The apartment has everything in it! It has a dishwasher, microwave, and furniture. There were 4 rooms, 2 bathrooms, and a living room. The cafeteria was huge and I like the fact that students and professors eat there. The food wasn’t that bad. I like the fries and the chicken fingers more than cheeseburger.3b0p

I went to this school back in 2015-2016. I was living near the school at the time, but I had to move over 4 hours away after escaping domestic violence. This school hires professors that do not want to see domestic violence victims succeed. Put your money elsewhere. Here is my story: Even with my broken wrist, I managed to complete the courses and coursework, and for a time, the professors were understanding of my situation, since I was not cleared to go back to work yet and was relying on my financial aid to pay for basic things like my phone and my health bills related to my wrist. I ended up getting cleared to go back to work, and had the job opportunity of a lifetime present itself to me. I accepted so I could get back on my feet. However, this was around the same time I had to complete one of my first residency requirements. My student adviser at the time was willing to work with me and found a course that I could take to meet my work life needs. However, it was the only option available to me. Since I had to leave for training for two weeks, the work campus did not allow personal business to be conducted on their computers, which included school work. I emailed my professor, and explained to him the situation that I was going to be gone for training when the class began and explained to him my predicament, asking for a compromise so I wouldn't lose my job. Part of the coursework was to attend GoToMeeting lectures. However, due to the nature of my work, I was unable to stream these lectures as no recording cameras were allowed. I explained all of this to him in e-mails. He did not listen to my emails, giving me responses that made it seem like he wasn't even reading my e-mails, and forwarded me back to the student adviser and washed his hands of it. Ultimately, after enduring a layover at an airport after training had finished, this professor expected me to attend a Go-To-Meeting class with two hours of sleep, then berate me for my lack of participation, after explaining to him my job's requirements and rules, and what had happened since a hurricane caused a delay and lengthy layover on my flight. Thankfully, I am working now, but I wished I never had attend this school. This school only put me further in debt and now I can't even attend the school I want.Reika Chan

I attended 9-11 years ago, so hopefully this has changed. The school psychology program was weirdly punitive. They shamed people for not knowing things like how to dress professionally instead of giving them concrete advice for what they expected. (This is classist.) They required us to be over-the-top obedient to professors and supervisors, even if they were doing something unethical. Meanwhile, they taught how kids do better with a strengths-based approach in which they are listened to. This is true and does not stop when a person turns 18. The professors make students retake classes and redo practicum hours for disagreeing or expressing concern. So students have to pay extra money to learn to suppress their critical thinking. They encourage students to think about "best practices" in their first year practicum. But in the second year their response to problems at practicum sites is "that's just how it is". I was discouraged to get involved with anything "political" like the teachers' strike and campaign to replace campus police officers with counselors because "no one will want to hire you". Their answer to disparities between wealthy suburban districts and underfunded districts like Chicago's was "don't work at CPS if you don't like it". 0/10 Do not recommend.Erin Rusmi

From the Counseling Psychology program perspective, my experience have been exceptional! From the knowledge of the professors to the structured placement process and classroom agendas, I love it! It has been a life changer for me, considering what I’ve learned during my 2 1/2 years here. The instructors are very knowledgeable and have experience on the subjects they’re teaching. You are provided a professional development coach to help maintain stability in classes and graduate on time. Someone is always there to answer questions or help in ways they can. All staff is professional and lead towards the process of your professional development as well . Classes are flexible and class sizes are comfortable ( max 15 students unless blended). Place is not good. No help for the freshmen at all. You go there and you are just lost. No one tells you anything. They didn't even tell you you needed to waive the medical insurance if you had one, otherwise it was automatic. Horrible environment as well. The university has a modern and big campus. Famous singers and comedians go to their arena to perform there and it’s for free if you study there! There’s a lot of things there. There’s a bank, Amazon, and a lot of restaurants. We had lunch there. There were a lot of choices to choose from. It was good and two students talked to us about how it is there. I really like this university and I might go there.3b0p

I'm an alumni of this university and I have to say that my educational experience wasn't what I hoped it to be. Although I encountered some great professors there still were some that left a bad taste in my mouth. The campus is actually very nice. I love the progress it has made. I attend this school…it is terrible. The people is so rude. When you call them they don' t want to answer your question. They just want you to go online and figure everything out yourself. Warning. I work for Loyola and making this review highly suspect. The university has grown in student numbers, numbers of program, student achievement and service to the city of Chicago. What makes Loyola stand out from others is the unapologetic mission of the school. We strive to become a person for others. We believe in strong academics, unwavering integrity and we believe in helping others. When students graduate from Loyola there is an expectation they will remember they are truly privileged people and that they have an obligation to find ways to assist others. It's a Jesuit university, but being Catholic is not a requirement for entrance. In fact more than half of the students attending Loyola are not Catholic. Loyola is the only college basketball team to have won a national championship and that was back in 1963. The program has been dormant for the most part since then. That is until last year when Loyola was the Cinderella team of the NCAA Tournament and the darling of international media thanks in large part to Sister Jean, the teams spiritual leader. A bona fide firecracker, Sister Jean took America, Africa and European media by storm during the tournament. The fairy tale season took the Ramblers to the Final Four where they lost to a very good Michigan team.Ralph Braseth

Great University experience without the college-town vibe. Superb access to public transportation. It has a great library with long open hours,from 7:30 am to 12 am! In fact, I wanted to use the Loyola un library for self study, but I couldn't because I needed a loyola ID card to enter the library. Therefore only saw the campus and open space of the university. I’m currently in my last year of medical school in the HPME program of Northwestern. Although it is an extremely challenging curriculum, especially for HPME students like myself, it is worth to know you graduated in purple and have learned world-class information from one of the best medical colleges. The reasearch surrounded me with further knowledge that will help me on my way to residency. UIC is one of the best universities in Chicago! It is a beautiful campus right near the city and easy to get around. The students and faculty are amazing and very helpful. It is really diverse and it's great to get to know people who are different from you. And also many people commute so the university pays great attention to that. This hospital has has given me the most awful experience going to an appointment. I participated in a research study because I have a rare illness and I was billed for the appointment, I paid said Bill, then received another Bill marked for the same day saying I went in for a "headache". I live 3 hours away, I think I'd see my regular Dr for a headache, I never went in for such things. You guys are lucky a lawyer won't touch this, but people need to know because your nursing staff is lying and taking advantage of sick people.Brandie Gates
