Wingate has a very personable and helpful staff many of whom have been there a long time it seems . Admissions staff was first rate. But once your student is enrolled, as a parent, you will need to be persistent to stay informed so you can help your student succeed. Wingate's technology is antiquated. Difficult to do any business online as a parent. The school is paper intensive and sometimes the paper seems to fall through cracks. Wingate only recently came up with a way for tuition to be paid online. There is no parent portal yet that allows you to stay up to date with what is due when. Bills are mailed and the expectation is you mail checks or pay on site. If they have a payment plan, they do not advertise it. Most pertinent information goes through the student portal that the parent has no access to. This creates opportunities for miscommunication and missed deadlines. The school is under-staffed. If you have to phone someone to ask for help or clarification, expect to get voicemail that states you will hear back in a couple of days at least. Email is a better option but don't expect a same-day reply. Communication is not a strength here. During this last and very widespread flu season, the campus had a very big outbreak but no classes were cancelled and parents never received any communication regarding making certain your student had a flu shot. Overall, I would say the school has its heart in the right place and most professors are engaged and want to see the students succeed. Still, the school has a ways to go in developing the kind of infrastructure that justifies its tuition costs. Wingate rightly has a reputation as a collegiate Sparta, roughly one in every four students is some sort of athlete. Not necessarily a bad thing but if your student is not going to be playing a sport or chooses to leave a sport once there, be aware of what other options they have on campus to stay engaged. The student transfer rate accelerates at year two. If campus surroundings are a consideration, know that Wingate is an exceedingly small town so that the campus is basically all there is. The neighboring town of Monroe is slightly bigger with more ammenities: small mall, Walmart and fast food options. Charlotte is a short drive beyond that. Uber is not allowed on campus, we were told. So your student needs a car or friends with wheels if he or she is going to leave campus or fly out of Douglas International. Overall, Wingate has been a good experience for our student despite a bit of heavy lifting for the parents. Having proper expectations is important when choosing a college. Been here for three years and all Wingate has done is raise the price of tuition while subsequently taking away things on campus. For one, they have limited our meal exchanges for Chick-Fil-A and Freshens to only two and three exchanges per week. The caf is unlimited, but they close at 8 p.m. and have limited food options. Wingate is also planning on charging us to keep our cars on campus while raising tuition at the same time. My question is why? No one asked for the DPC to be upgraded (and it was supposed to be done in January…) so why should we have to pay for it? The freshman dorms are in serious need of upgrading and the upperclassmen apartments are manageable but not worth the money, in my opinion. Honestly, the only reason I still attend Wingate is for the music department, and that’s why I gave this review 2 stars instead of 1. There is absolutely no reason that our tuition should be raised each year, that’s ridiculous and it actually causes many athletes and other students who attend Wingate on full scholarships to have to drop out. Private colleges are supposed to be essentially all-inclusive since that’s what the high tuition prices are for, but Wingate is definitely not all-inclusive and constantly cheats us out of our money.Lauren Whitley

Wingate University holds a special place in my heart as this is where I started my college education. I ended up transferring to complete my Nursing degree (at the time Wingate did not offer Nursing degrees) Even so, my faculty advisors and mentors steered me towards my strengths, leading me to a rewarding career in Nursing. Avoid this college at all costs!!! While they state they are a “Christian College” the truth is they are anything but a Christian College. The morals held by some of the administration and staff are deplorable at best. The policies set forth by this college are not at all followed by the staff or administration! The facilities are subpar having poorly maintained dorm rooms, a weight room for athletes that is laughable. Although they recruit for athletes they have no actual practice fields owned by the school for baseball, softball, or soccer. This college is not worth what they are charging for tuition as most of their classes do not transfer. Finally, the area in which this school is located is not at all safe. When we visited our child we had a drunk man wander up to our car which was parked right in front of the dorms asking for money. There are some great folks in the seminary, but the rest of the faculty has been mostly gutted and replaced with faculty with little/no teaching experience and a disconnect from the university's old mission of training Christian leaders. The way the current administration treated its faculty and staff over the last couple of years has been disgraceful. What made this school special and unique has been replaced with a business/money-making emphasis. If you want a Christian college, you need to find another (try SEBTS in NC or NGS in SC). If you want to study business or law enforcement or whatever other programs they're quickly trying to create, then go elsewhere and get it cheaper and regionally accredited.James Dandy

I absolutely despise this school. When talking to staff I felt that it would be a good fit. I had only a couple good teachers who were there to actually TEACH me and HELP me through my classes. If I asked questions or didn't understand an assignment teachers made me feel stupid which made it hard to get assignments done correctly. This is not a "Christian" school. I left a BSN program to attend CCHS and it was the best decision I ever made for my nursing career! Compared to the university I previously attended, CCHS classes are small and intimate, we had easy access to our teachers and advisors and we had a TON of hands-on clinical experience. I felt very prepared for the NCLEX as well as my first nursing job after I graduated. I then was able to work as an RN while taking classes online for my BSN after I graduated. Two days ago, I received an acceptance letter into CCHS’s Neurodiagnostic Technology program! The application process was made easy due to great communication, kindness and patience from Robert, the Coordinator of Admissions. Mrs. Ashley Hastings, the Program Chair, answered all of my questions in detail, making me more eager to join the program. I am looking forward to gaining knowledge from her. I've attended CCHS for almost 2 years now. I like how the staff has worked diligently with student during COVID-19. While everyone is still going through difficult times, they have been able to adapt to regulations and restrictions of healthcare that have been placed during the pandemic. Let's be honest, there are good things and bad things to this school. While the department the major I have is very small and thus more personal with you, especially with advising, the bigger departments like business are very impersonal with you, and hold rather strict barrings on until you complete the, to be honest, useless general education the college forces on you, though that is the case anywhere in America. It is almost arrogant in how they dismiss the ideas and opinions of the students in favor of their own. They are also known for their excessive penny pinching. With the prices on campus being outrageous, they also hold strict rulings for housing and parking, giving you hefty bills if you mess up on even the slightest infraction. Overall, the grand and upcoming productions they are doing with the school, such as the football field and new dorms and buildings, do not help the general student population much. Now, with this said, there are good things to this place. For one, in smaller departments, you get a generally more personal and kinder attention to you and your college career. With my department at least, as long as you show the ability, they help you get the classes you want and need. Also, at least on campus, school spirit runs deep with the green and gold. There are more than enough events to bolster this said school patriotism, and can eventually come to rival other schools. Also, while some professors have a tendency to stuff beliefs down the student's throats, others can be thought inspiring, and can be interesting and even fun to go to classes sometimes. However, the lousy administration still lingers over these benefits, and hampers the overall quality of the school. If they fixed that problem, they would be a good school. However, with that said problem, I can only recommend it, as a current student, as a mediocre to slightly above average at best school to prospective students. To them, I would look at your options and see if you want to come here. I do not regret the choice of coming to this school, but I cannot ignore its blatant and crippling flaws.Drunk Farmer

If you have a lot of money, or you're a research student or engineer, you probably won't have a problem with this school. The school looks very nice on the outside, but as a student, I hated it. The dorms were god awful. Their elevators did not work on the first day of move in. At one point they did not have enough rooms in the highrises for the students, and had to house students in the commons rooms and blackout the windows. The Cafeteria food was always questionable. Cold and pretty unimaginative. Facilities and services always closed down early. There was hardly anything open on the weekends. Not to mention there is barely any means of going anywhere outside of campus if you don't have a car. Speaking of cars, parking services is ridiculous and incompetent. They wrote me up even when I had my parking tag right on the windshield, positioned properly where it was supposed to be, and another time I got a ticket after the semester had ended! This school just looks for ways to nickel and dime students. They're department chairs and coordinators are a bunch of fools who can't manage their jobs. And when they make mistakes, you are the one who will probably end up paying for it.Eric Williams

I went to UNCC back in the mid to late 90s. All I can say is if I had a time machine, I'd love to go back. I met several life-long friends that I continue to hang out with to this day. It's amazing how much the campus has changed over the years. The last time I was there (for the first football game) I almost got lost. I received a fine arts degree and have made a career out of digital printing and design. According to other reviews, people still like to go home on the weekends. That was also the case when I attended, but for the brave that stay around the school during the weekend, more power to you. That's where the fun is really at. Also, I'm hearing that students aren't attending the football games and the ones that are, tend to leave early. All I have to say to that is, just be glad you have a football team. *This review is in regards to their summer intern housing program* Queens must be the most incompetent organization I have ever dealt with. Of a group of five friends, they managed to "mistransfer" two of our contact information into their database – they messed up 40% of our applications! (Oh, and they they "misassigned" a third to the wrong room). While I wasn't too upset to learn that I lost my spot, even contacting them about my refund proved difficult since they don't answer their phone during business hours. If you're going to apply for summer intern housing at Queens, make sure to put in a few applications elsewhere.Alex Hoffman

The nursing program is bad. Less than half of the students that start at Queens for nursing end up graduating. Most people fail out of the program. You need at least a 77 to pass your classes and they will not help you if you’re 0.1 away from passing. If you fail a class, you can only retake it once and you will be delayed a semester because you can only take that one class. If you fail two classes, you’re out. It’s a very expensive school and not worth your time. They have a HESI exam that counts 10% of your grade and it’s really hard and you can’t study for it. I'm still currently a Johnson & Wales student. It is OKAY. The Chefs are geniuses and the culinary labs are AMAZING. BUT the academics are merely mediocre, making them not worth the price. Most of the textbooks are written by the school (understandably, since their degree programs are all very complex) and they crazy overcharge for them even by textbook standards. Since they are only available through the school, they take advantage of it. Most of the teachers however, do everything they can to keep you from having to pay for the books. Charlotte is a lovely place to go to school, but they did a terrible job placing the campus. It's MOSTLY a nice area, but after 4 o'clock it gets pretty sketchy. In the year and a half that I have been here, they have changed the curriculum four different times. Most of the changes are fine and don't really effect my everyday. The dorms, are horrifying. The dining hall gave everyone in my year food poisoning at least three times. The apartment style dorms are full of water damage that the school claims to have dealt with, but our carpet is still bubbled up a foot every few steps we take and all of our cabinets smell like mold. BUT they ARE currently getting money together to start building new apartment style dorms. Construction is supposed to start in 2018 (they're currently working on buying the building from the city). Unfortunately since this is technically a remote campus of the Providence school, everything has to go through them before coming to us. They are stuck in the dark ages. They use paper for all their files and also every test, essay, and request. Things get lost all the time and a lot gets lost over the communications between campuses, but that's not charlotte JWU's fault. SUMMARY: Dorms suck, food is poison. Culinary classes are great, academics probably aren't worth the money. They're fixing the dorm situation, but won't be done before I graduate. Providence Campus is the worst.Sage WolfeZogg

I am currently attending this school and it's pretty fun. Charlotte is a beautiful area, but the location of campus is placed strangely. There's always a lot of construction around, but I don't blame the school for that. I'm in baking and pastry and the chefs and students are mostly positive while in class though they seem like they expect so much more out of the students who don't know half the stuff we're being taught. Academics is okay, but some teachers treat the students poorly. When it comes to academics, the student DO know stuff and some teachers treat students like they are clueless five year-olds. I'd say the school is too expensive for what it gives us. I'll be spending years in student loan debt after maybe a bachelor's degree. The food in the cafeteria is horrible for a culinary school. They try to make things fancy and just end up making it more gross. The dorm halls always smell like weed. The RAs don't care and are students as well so if you have a problem with someone, they pick sides. CVT isn't too bad, which is where I'm living next year. I love this school and I was excited to come, but it feels like they're making no effort for any of their students that are paying so much to be here.Ashley Evans

The school is okay as a whole but I'm here to bring everyone's attention to the food. First off they have served raw chicken to us multiple times and then they pick through the meat to choose the ones who arent cooked leaving the rest of the now contaminated meat behind for us to eat. This food has made me and others sick on more than one occasion now. Not to mention the people working down there are rude, wearing earbuds so they cant hear us. How is this acceptable we pay good money to be here but yet they act like the world is crashing down if we ask them to put things out so we can get the food. My experience at Northlake Lexus was the exact opposite of what I expected! I went in with my defenses up and left a completely happy and satisfied customer. As a part-time athlete, I've worked with some of the best in the orthopedics world, including The Andrew's Group (services a number of high profile athletes/organizations), Duke Medical, and beyond. I can say beyond doubt that Dr. Lee is one of the best Physical Therapists I have ever worked with (therefore, likely, one of the best in the nation). Beyond being incredibly intelligent and knowledgeable both in general and in the field of Physical Therapy, he is incredibly passionate. He is doing what he was meant to do, and he knows it, and that manifests itself in his work. While I've always gone to Dr. Lee for maintenance work/dry needling/etc, I most recently went to him for a nasty shoulder injury. I had been told by an orthopedic surgeon with more than 20 years of experience that I should "probably stop lifting" as my shoulder was "done", and told by another physical therapist, with almost 15 years of experience, that I "at least, may not be able to do overhead movements anymore". I spent TWO WEEKS with Dr. Lee and experienced a ~60% decrease in my shoulder pain (keep in mind I had been working with the other PT for almost 2 months prior). Today, a month and a half later, I just completed a full week of training (including all of the overhead movements in the world)… with no pain. If you think you're "done" or you won't be able to return to the activities you love or maybe you've even been told so by doctors, nurses, PTs, etc… Find Dr. Lee and give him a shot, put in the work, and I'd be surprised if you had an issue that he couldn't either improve greatly or fix completely. I truly have only great things to say about my experience with Ivy, so this review may be a bit lengthy. I was referred to this office after a car accident that left me with a pretty debilitating hand injury. Ashley, the receptionist, made the entire registration and scheduling process as easy as possible. She’s friendly and kind, and always greets you as soon as you walk through the door. Dr. Lee is one of the most knowledgeable and compassionate health providers I’ve ever worked with. Not only have I regained a significant amount of strength in my hand, but the pain has subsided completely within a short few weeks. I could not have gotten though this tough time without Dr. Lee’s help, and I’m so appreciative of the patience and dedication that he brought to every therapy session. My son is very medically complex, and also has cerebral palsy. He had a 97° curve in his back (along with tons of GI/esophageal issues). We dreaded having rods put in his back for years. We had been going to Shriners but given his other issues they weren't comfortable doing it there. I met with SEVERAL Dr's in the process of trying to find the right fit. Dr. Brighton was amazing! Not only with the work he did, but his rapport with my son impressed me. He ended up doing HaloTraction for 6 weeks and then doing the rods, and my baby walked out a week later. On 09 November, 2019, I attended the NASCAR experience at Charlotte with 8 buddies. I made the reservations by phone—-that was lengthy, as they needed everyone’s name and email. The person on the phone [sorry—don’t have the name] was exceptionally patient and polite. And got every spelling and email correct. Once we arrived, the same courteous professionalism continued. From check-in, photos, uniform retrieval, to the safety briefing, all was first class. Once at the car, you have a crew member assigned to you. They will explain everything they are doing——assisting you in the car, fitting your HANS, buckling you up, etc. My ‘spotter’ [I think George??] was awesome. Thank you Sir. We were there to observe a family member participating in the driving experience. We are unfamiliar with the area, so stopped in the ticket offce/gift shop for directions. When we got to the driving experience entrance, we received additional instructions on where to park and access the observation area. The multiple-step directions were somewhat confusing – additional signage or perhaps a small map would have been helpful. Once we arrived at the right place, there was plenty of parking. The event is somewhat observer-friendly, but they could definitely do better. Of course, they aren't making any money off of spectators. Our twin grandsons were visiting us so we took the opportunity to purchase a ride along experience for them. Booking was simple and the professional. After arriving at the Charlotte facility (12/7/19) we were somewhat confused about the sign in process however, thanks to Tyler everything worked out perfectly. My daughter is a student in High Point and started having severe abdominal pain and was taken to High Point Regional Medical Center, where the level of care was awful. They did a CT scan and a Sonogram only to tell her she had a cyst on her ovary and the pain would subside and that she should see her physician when she got the chance. Fortunately, we brought her home to Charlotte and got her an appointment with Dr Crane. She was concerned, sympathetic and very passionate about the level of care her patients receive. After not being able to get any records from High Point she decided to do her surgery the following morning. Once she got in there she realized that the original onset of pain was not caused by a ruptured cyst but a twist in the ovary that caused it to die and she needed to remove it. She was amazing and we could not ask for a better doctor!!!!Andria Hicks

I am currently a Senoir at Appalachian State University but I am applying to graduate school at Lenoir-Rhyne University. I attempted to transfer to LR during my second year at ASU but,unfortunately, I was not able to transfer. ASU is a big school where there are tons of people but most are strangers. Professors never remember you because they have 200 to 300 students everyday, so I cannot blame them. However, I enjoyed LR's campus, representatives and atmospher so much that I knew I wanted to somehow attend. Now that I am about to graduate from ASU, I want to further my studies in a Master's of Business Administration program. Luckily, LR has one! Man was I happy; I get a top notch business degree and get to attend a great university in the process. I cannot wait to start the MBA program this fall because they are so friendly and knowledgeable. Basically, if you're deciding between LR and other southern colleges, remember this; If you want lots of friends that you know well, go to LR, but if you want a few friends among a crowd of tens of thousands, then go to a larger school like ASU.Logan Shook

I love Catawba, it's an extraordinary school that treasures the information on their understudies. In any case, with being just 3 weeks into the second 2021 semester, I view it entirely awkward to be nearby. The majority of the understudies remove their veil when they leave the homeroom, regardless of whether they are as yet in the structure! Others will stroll around and sit in the sitting regions around grounds (Admin!) with no cover what so ever! I see huge gatherings strolling around to will classes with no veil on. I have seen more non-veil understudies than the ones that are really wearing them. I accept that numerous different understudies are beginning to have this impression as well, and as a worker the last thing I would need to do is take Covid back to my home where my family (who all has different medical problems) live. Particularly with the mind-boggling pace of individuals in isolate right now. I love Catawba, it’s a great school that cherishes the knowledge of their students. But with being only 3 weeks into the second 2021 semester, I find it very uncomfortable to be on campus. Most of the students take off their mask as soon as they walk out of the classroom, even if they are still in the building! Others will walk around and sit in the sitting areas around campus (Admin!) with no mask what so ever! I see big groups walking around to get to classes with no mask on. I have seen more non-mask students than the ones that are actually wearing them. I believe that multiple other students are starting to feel this way too, and as a commuter the last thing I would want to do is bring Covid back to my house where my family (who all has various health issues) live. Especially with the overwhelming rate of people in quarantine currently. If the students aren’t going to take this seriously for the sake of people other than themselves then I think it’s dangerous for us all to be back on campus and I would prefer not to be as uncomfortable as I already am with just trying to move around to my classes to avoid the non-maskers. And the thing is you don’t know who to trust to be around with this virus and the professors are making it dangerously close to overstepping Covid boundaries within the classrooms and assigned group work outside of class. Catawba College is a small private liberal art college with a small professor to student ratio and a large portion of student athletes. The professors take personal interest in the students and there are a lot of student activities and club's to be a part of. The location is North of Salisbury. Most of the college experience at Catawba is what the individual student chooses to get involved in. There are a lot of opportunities to be successful and involved in many activities if you apply yourself but the college experience is some of what you make it yourself. The education is top quality and prepares many students for graduate studies. The athletic programs are treated like top quality programs and are a great experience.Josh Payne

We visited the UNC campus as tourists, and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. A supremely well manicured and well maintained campus with a number of buildings that are couple of hundred years old. You can just walk randomly and still take in a lot of the campus, but it is even better if you have someone who knows the campus and can tell you why to take a sip of water at the fountain or a bit of history of the Old West building. We recommend the Coker Arboretum, a calming oasis with some excellent fauna (tiger lilies!).Mini Rag

My sons service completely SUCKED! We got here at 3:30 and it’s 7:43 and we’re still waiting for a SIMPLE MRI and can’t get assistance and the people are RUDE!!!! Do NOT recommend this hospital! People puked in the restrooms they left it for HOURS! This place needs a major health inspection I bet they won’t get far!! Gross and by far the worst service ever for an ER! Nothing fast about this place, or clean about it! Stay clear people! Go elsewhere!Amanda Post

My wife is currently a patient after being flown here in critical condition, This hospital literally saved her life. She also had a double lung transplant here in 2010. I can’t say enough good things about this hospital, The doctors,the nurses and any one else that works here Have been so kind and respectful to us, God has surely put us in the right place Thank you for saving her life to give us more time together here on EarthTed Scercy

I'm a student here and it's been a great experience. As far as the campus goes, it is absolutely gorgeous. For the school itself, since the school is so small it's guaranteed that you will never feel like "just a number" here. They also are very determined to keep their teaching embedded in Catholic Social Thought, but by no means is there any discrimination against others who have different faiths and creeds. Beautiful School. I thought the actual school was great at first, but I was absolutely wrong. If I could go back in time, I would never have sent my son to this school. This place has changed a lot since 1983, but what a beautiful change it is!! Wonderful new buildings that mix in well with the 1870's era historic architectural wonders. So cool to see my old dorm suite, but sad to see that the radio station is no more.Steve Lee

We referred to Dr.Brighton by a friend. We needed a second opinion of a diagnosis given by OrthoCarolina. Very pleased with service provided. Dr.Brighton was patient, easy to understand, seemed thorough in his exam, and extremely knowledgable. And we are pleased with the service at Levine Children's Hospital. OrthoCarolina has a beautiful pediatric facility but the completely awful thing about visiting them was always the wait time. The wait time was awful and the time with the doctor very brief. I will update this post after our next few visits but after this initial visit feeling very happy with Levine Children's Hospital.Laura Stevens

Son received a broken femur while at a football game which required surgery !Dr. Brighton answered all my questions and assured my 8 year that he would be back on that field (not immediately )but he'd be back out there!
