My stepfather who admitted himself in for feeling unwell, and was terminally ill, sadly never had a chance to walk out of icu. He walked in one day in October and never walked out a few days later. When he admitted himself in, he was talking and walking and very coherent. A couple days later, he wasnt any of those three. Maybe they couldn't save him, it was his time..maybe it wasnt…but he was doing way better when he admitted himself in, then laying in his deathbed in icu. When I came in to visit him, he couldn't talk, and had blood practically pooling in his mouth, all over his teeth, gums, tongue and hands. Blood literally all in his mouth, practically coughing and choking on his own blood. The doctors and nurses weren't helping him AT ALL. WE HAD TO MAKE A NURSE GET ALL THE BLOOD OUT HIS MOUTH SO HE WOULD QUIT CHOKING ON HIS OWN BLOOD. IT WAS THE MOST HORRIFYING THING I HAVE EVER SEEN. THEY SHOULD OF DONE MORE THAN NOTHING AT ALL. IT WAS A HOSPITAL OF HORRORS. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL, COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL. PERIOD. Yeah, nice building but that might be the last thing you see… My own experience, when in because I'm 150% positive I have blood clots in my leg, they did blood work and charged me almost $2,000 for just blood work. I went in the ER, was never put in a room, sat on a hospital bed in the hallway for 3+ hours…the entire time. It was not a private visit…everyone heard everything that was said and discussed. I begged for an x-ray, MRI anything that would show blood clots. They refused and told me it was either bruising or nothing at all. No its not bruising, because ive had this "bruising" for months… Going to another hospital for a second opinion. The doctor or student whoever is was that saw me walked out the same time I did, and beat me to the cafeteria. They let me leave when they were leaving. We practically walked out together. Tell me, HOW DO I KNOW MORE MEDICAL INFORMATION ABOUT MY CONDITION THEN THEY DO?! When I told them what condition I thought I had, they never heard about it and was googling it in front of me!! I told them more information than they even knew!!! Dont waste time and money on a hospital that employees Dont seem to know information medically they are suppose to know and be learning about. I watched my own stepfather suffer and die in the hands of these unprofessional. How many others are suffering from the hands of them?A McCoy

My husband was concerned about his heart and was treated by the MUSC chest pain center at Ashley Towers. The team was professional and knowledgeable and empathetic. They listened carefully to our concerns and asked every conceivable question. They ordered the appropriate test and analysis for his condition. The medical care provided was great but the cleaning service sucked. My friend stayed for 6 days, when they placed him in the room someone else's paperwork was on the table,used medical supplies were on the counter, the trashcan had used adult briefs in it, the floor had not been swept and blood was on the floor (that was not his). I was informed that I'm not eligible to apply to the online MBA program because I don't meet the work experience requirements (I have over 6 years of work experience – just not managerial/professional). The business school is not even accredited by any of the 3 major business school accrediting agencies (ACBSP, AACSB, or IACBE), which is actually rare to find in a university as large as UC. Yes, they are a “member of ACBSP” but they are NOT accredited by this agency. Having any of these business accreditations assures students that its business programs are of high quality and adheres to standards based on latest research and business practices. AACSB is the gold standard that uses research as base on practice and accredits private and public universities like Harvard and many state universities. ACBSP/IACBE usually accredits insituitions that are either have created new business programs and are looking to be AACSB accredited or are lower ranking than AACSB acccredited ones and usually uses a occupational & hands on approach to learning. Without out said accreditation(s) the UC mba program actually ranks lower than many for profit business schools like University of Phoenix, Devry University, & Capella- who are all at least accredited by ACBSP, which should be looked at as the bare minimum for students looking into MBA programs.Josh Esc

Clean cut at its best. Given the shenanigans going on at most college campuses today, it was nice to see respect and professionalism on display everywhere. No ragged and torn clothing, no Rand McNally maps running up and down arms (tattoos) no steel dangling from noses, no pants hanging half off butts, one could feel pride in America and hope for the future when touring this vast and beautiful campus. A quick tour showed this to be a non-nonsense, education first, institution. Having been in the military, it did not take me long to figure out that the "fast walkers" were freshmen. They stuck to their designated walkways, off the sidewalks for the most part, walking at a fast clip with a pronounced gait, and making sharp right turns at the corners. We would go back in a heartbeat and you should too when you start to lose faith in America. Different uniforms but it reminded me a lot of Annapolis. God bless the USA.Jack

“The Citadel” is the Pride of the South! We have quite a few family and friends that are graduates of The Citadel. My son will be graduating High School in 2023 so we took time this Summer to visit colleges with our first stop here. Our Admissions Officer, Josh Simons (also alumni) gave an excellent presentation. If you’re not serious or dedicated to higher education and pushing yourself mentally and physically to be your absolute best, this isn’t the school for you! If you’re a leader or want to be and you have honor, understand duty, respect others and authority then you may be a candidate. I have confidence and hope my son will choose to be a cadet. He’s an athlete which will only add to a positive four year experience for him.Simone

I am about to graduate from here and this was extremely difficult. You have to be mentally tough to get through this. I’m not sure why this university is not more widely recognized across the United States. I am from the North East and some people have not heard of it. Patient Care takes back seat to employee schedule Within a week I experienced unavailable care due to employee work schedule. Let’s call 4:00 to 5:00 pm the Non responsive hour at MUSC radiology department and response team. On Tuesday 9/13/22 I was having blood drawn at the Rutledge tower for my annual physical. I apparently fasted too long ( about 16 hours) and I passed out while the blood was drawn. I recovered with the help of 3 phlebotomists with ice packs and forced air. I heArd them call the MUSC response team to come check on me. A few minutes later one of the tech says the response team is not coming because it is 4:30 . They went home. I had no medical personnel check me over before I left which made me anxious about my condition but I had no alternative according to the phlebotomists. They did an admirable job looking after me and should be recognized and not reprimanded. The leadership of the hospital should be held accountable for creating a time window of no responsive teams for patients and visitors welfare. Today , 9/15/22 I had an X-ray order from my primary care doctor to X-ray my left knee due to a suspected torn ligament. I called the radiology department to make sure there would be techs to take an X-ray up to 5:00 pm. I was verbally assured that I would be looked after in radiology and have the X-ray taken. I checked in a 4:15 in Radiology in the Rutledge tower and told I will have the X-ray taken at 4:30. A saved screenshot of my confirmation from the receptionist records my check in and 4:30 X-ray. The receptionist who checked me in came to me at 4:20 to tell me all the X-ray techs had left at 4:00 today. I was told to come back tomorrow. Today I had gotten off work to come and get the X-ray. It’s disappointing that a reputable hospital and it’s departments cannot schedule their staff to be available to serve the patients with their reported skills. These problems start at the top and should be addressed by leadership and made to be held accountable. This reminds me that”The customer is not always right, but is always very powerful.” I’ll be happy to help MUSC fix its scheduling problems and help it look after it’s patients.Bob Kerr

The lack of care and compassion shown to a Person, Former MUSC Employee and My Mother is astounding to me. My Mother was placed in Hospice care on a Friday night discharged being a fall hazard and she transported by ems who didn't have a wheelchair on board. We had to borrow our neighbor wheelchair at 11pm to get Mother in the house. Hospice didn't have time to have any equipment for her which made the weekend so difficult for her. Then the awful doctor Matthew Kolher made the comment while bring students in the room he said "they eat all those fatty foods" meaning black people as her looked at my Mother. I moved her out of his care and the Hollings Cancer Center. She only returned after being told it was easier to treat her since her doctors were at MUSC. I had so many questions when reached the end of life, I called him 3 times and he nor his off returned a call regarding his patient. I know that MUSC doesn't care about most people or the patient care it's Doctor's and staff sells but this is unacceptable and if you are ever faced with needing compassionate health care please research before selecting MUSC. The lack of interest when calling was even worse. I know she was nothing to you and insurance wasn't great but she was my Mother and she she did he best and deserved better care treatment and respect than what was given by MUSC, Dr. Matthew Kolher Oncologist. Horrible hospital!!!! The doctors may know what they're doing but outside of that, this hospital is horrible!!!! My dad was at this hospital after having surgery and no one came around for days to wash him up. He was complaining to me telling me he was uncomfortable because he hadn't been washed since his surgery. Four days of passing, and he hasn't been washed! When I asked the nurse if they could wash him, she had an attitude. It's crazy, we're the ones that should of had the attitude. She tell me when she or someone get a chance, but that chance didn't come until late that next day. I went to an office there at the hospital to file a complaint and they take my complaint but tell me it's nothing they can do. I was crying because there was nothing I could do at that point to help my dad. The lady in the office confirmed that she get a lot of those same complaints, and that I should call the NEWS and report it. When I went back to my dad's room I saw the nurse, and still crying I got into an argument with her, and instead of understanding how I was feeling she called security and asked them to exscort me off the floor. Anyway, I'm from up north and I always thought the people in the south were caring friendly people but I guess I was wrong, well not at this hospital anyway.Alfreda Jones

I usually hate going to the gym because I have no clue what I'm doing. At OTF, I can just turn my brain off and follow along with the instructor–which sounds like a nice, easy work out, but it's still very motivating! One of the coaches, Mary, knows just how hard to push each person to help them get their best result without too much pressure. The heart rate monitors are also a great motivator for me personally, and they help each person compete with themselves, rather than with the rest of the class. I don't think I've ever had such effective and fun workouts before. There is also a strong sense of community that you won't find at other gyms. Highly recommend to anyone who is bored/overwhelmed with their current workout routine!McKenna Redwine

The workouts are 10/10 and not a single second is wasted in the gym! The coaches are always engaged with the class and they keep you motivated the entire time! I love the variety of the workouts as well. It never gets boring or redundant especially when you take 5-6 classes a week. The coaches are all amazing and I really appreciate the fact that they make an effort to know your fitness level and how far you should push yourself in class (tread spread/weight choice/etc). I started Orangetheory in Seattle and loved it, so when I moved to Charleston I immediately searched for an OT. The workouts are great, varied, and challenge me every visit (3+ times a week). But that’s not the secret to why classes at this location are so enjoyable. The reason? The coaches. The office & front desk. The people make the location a step above: Current coaches Mary, Jackson, Rob, Gabby, Sam. Manager Tessa, for her patience and thoughtfulness and kindness. Former coaches Josh, Cam, Cory, Kelly (miss those faces for sure). Go for the excellent workouts. Stay for the friends you make.Leslie Stewart

A totally bad experience going to this golf course. The course was not in very good shape. But the golfers were some of the rudest people I have ever experienced. There was no golf marshal or at least we never saw him/her. The play was so backed up that if we had stayed for all 18 holes as we paid for we would of finished in 6.5 hours which is totally unacceptable. My husband was playing by himself and we saw a twosome who were taking quite a long time as the younger player was inexperienced. He asked if he could play through as he was the only one playing and the guy was smart with him. We decided to skip that hole and go to the next one when out of nowhere a walking foursome of woman ran up and starting yelling at us. Again we indicated that only one person was playing and asked if we could play through. They kept screaming at us. So on the the next hole only to find another twosome and another walking foursome. so we kept going until we reached the 16the hole and I could not believe what I saw. A foursome of men who were having lunch. Not eating between people teeing up but a sit down lunch with no one playing golf. So these 4 men were the problem for the backed up course. We went to the 17th hole and there was no one on it or the 18th hole. we skipped 4 holes to get done playing in 5 hours. I would never recommend this place to anyone.Jackie Mauzy-Fieser

The staff at Shadowmoss is wonderful! They're friendly, well organized, helpful, and knowledgeable. The pro shop is always well-stocked with everything you need for your game and then some. The attached restaurant/bar is the perfect spot to grab a bite to eat and a drink after to cool off. Recently, my son, who began receiving lessons from instructor Miles Rice, has had notable marked success. He's become more confident in his game and himself, which is key! Miles began his career receiving a degree from the Golf Academy of America and has held the title of lead instructor at several locations before his work at Shadowmoss. He has experience teaching all ages and ability levels, including but not limited to, those with a spectrum of physical and mental impairments (which is not easy to find). Selfishly, my son and I want to keep him a secret but out of appreciation for his work and time, and for those who are looking for an awesome instructor, to learn the fundamentals, or to perfect their performance, I would suggest calling Shadowmoss to book soon. Golf has been a saving grace to learn during COVID, so if you've considering playing, give it a go!Elle

My wife and I rented the pavilion area for a baby shower and we’re so blown away by the staff. They were flexible, helpful, and courteous to my wife and I as well as everyone at our event. I’ve rented venues in the past where everything was on you, and you had to bring nearly everything yourself, and absolutely everything extra was nickeled and dime to a ridiculous degree. Here the staff were just so helpful and when our plans changed slightly they were quick to jump and and offer additional tables and chairs. They even helped us tear down without any prompts and we really appreciated that. Absolutely could not recommend more, very reasonably priced venue and out party of about 40 had plenty of space. I'm not sure what happened to the quality control since I've been away. I loved Groucho's, as it's a staple to my visits to Charleston. This time though I'm a bit disappointed. The STP Dipper was okay and the 45 sauce good as always. Biggest complaint is the sweet tea and chips. I've never had sweet tea that tasted as old and stale as this one. I didn't drink it, though it was a large, out of the fear of getting sick. Also didn't eat my second bag of chips as they were opened half way. I know the delivery driver didn't do this because the first one I tried was super stale hinting they've been open for a while. Never know what type of bacteria coulda got in there so I threw them out. In conclusion I dont think I'll be getting Groucho's for quite a while unless I found out they've redeemed themselves. Maybe I'll just eat in instead of delivery. Obviously I can't ask for help if the food is already here, and I hope that's not what their mindset is.Ryan Best

I absolutely adore this place. Everyone is friendly, prompt, and customer service exceeds expectations. The food is delicious. They give you a good multitude and presentation is A-1. None of the above matters when the quality is off. I am a frequent patron and is seems like every other order I end up receiving spoiled or outdated veggies. This trip it was to the point where they tasted acidic. I am disheartened every time, yet I keep coming back hoping this stops happening or excusing it for "a bad batch". This time was outrageous and I had to say something… the cucumbers look almost translucent. Sigh, I still I love them but this may have been my last trip. Awful at communicating with students. Not willing to work with you on required material. Must have the diction they ask for, meaning you must pay for the $150 book instead of a discounted one. Already owe so much for tuition. How could a young person afford these prices. When you call any of the academic offices they are no help and don’t give thorough answers. Their Moodle site to submit assignments is a mess. Make life easier and get a better platform. No one will explain anything or how to operate Moodle. I transferred and it is a horrible experience. Why the graduation rate isn’t too high. The campus itself is nice but what is aesthetics without helpful faculty?R Sym

The stadium and personnel were terrific. The HUGE negatives are they allow people to constantly walk in front of other fans who pay high prices for their seats. No regard whatsoever. As well, being disabled as I came up 544 I asked for a handicap lot, which I was directed to. After the game, when we asked for a golf cart ride, the driver said "which handicap lot". There were NO markings anywhere to tell us what lot we where in.Stewart Silverberg

Our family visited CCU for a college visit in October '21 for our son. The staff and students did a PHENOMENAL job during the tour. Our son was VERY impressed. I've not met Dr. Libby, although her father Dr. Edward Kosnik performed 2 surgeries on me and talk about her very much. I remember once he (my nerosurgeon ) braided my hair all by himself after being put to sleep, because he said he knew how important girls hair was to them. And he reffered to his daughters. My last surgery in 2010 at nationwide children he told me only way I could go home was if I could stand up and get 2 steps to him to give him a hug! I lived in KY when I found out I had a brain tumor and he is the only one that would see me. I owe him a lot and I miss very much! I 1st saw him when I was 14 and im 31 now. Not a great experience. Choose a private college. As a parent of a junior there are many disappointments. If your son or daughter is undecided about their major maybe this is an ok choice. But if they know what they want, send them where there’s a commitment and focus on major courses otherwise it’s a continuation of high school. Further, it seems Covid has become an excuse for a few things. Major classes in business marketing, that are online, taught by a professor in a foreign country without even a grade given at the midterm point doesn’t seem like a good thing. It feels like a complete rip off. A schedule with classes from 10 am to 7pm, really? Encouraging students to drop before a WD becomes an F feels like a rip off too and it is. Where’s faculty accountability? Where’s the administrative accountability? Further the ‘system’ for registration for courses and academic advisement is a joke. Honors, athletes, by academic year? Basically good luck getting a schedule you want. A focus on graduating on time? Doesn’t seems to exist. I could go on but I will not.Karen Smith

Stunningly gorgeous campus we discovered taking a detour from King St. in Charleston. Here on July 4th weekend so campus was vacant but the energy was still there. Just passed through whilst visiting Columbia, and I was quite impressed. The trees were outstanding and tall, the buildings were old but still looked good, and there was a fairly distinctive campus feel despite being in a rather large city. The palmettos make the campus much nicer and southern-feeling, and the various live oaks around campus give a very “Old South” feel. Cannot attest to the academics, though I did see a lot of “frat boy-types” and wondered if this school has that type of culture. The few people I chatted with were very nice and welcoming, and I would recommend visit the McKissick Museum or other places around here to get a sense of the culture and history of the school. I never really heard of this place until we moved to the South. Then I saw a bunch of shirts with these roosters on them. Then one day I wandered down the road to Columbia just to see what the place was like. Then I found myself on this campus. It really seems like it has a party scene to it and it kind of reminds me of Arizona State University in some ways. It seems to be a fun place to go to school. The library was AMAZING! It even had an exhibit with some civil rights history items on display. I loved every bit of it. All and I think this is a great school. Nice and hilly too.noneya business

I did my PhD here as an international student and the experience was somewhat jarring at first and there seems to be a great deal of tension at the university over perceived inequality in the grading metrics and greater politicization of the faculty. Nevertheless, there are some fantastic people present who take time out of their day to see to your requests unlike some universities where the process is conducted from a financial perspective than a human one.Narcissus

Of all of the colleges that I have worked for and attended as a student, this one is the worst. I was automatically enrolled for a course without expressing intent to enroll or them asking if that's what I would like to do. From there, they sent me books and materials without me knowing they were sent. If you apply, you had better be certain that you would like to attend or sign in and drop courses you didn't register for before you are stuck with a bill for courses you never even wanted registered for. I contacted them about this and for a "Christian" university, the employees sure are rude. I am now stuck with a bill for books that I didn't order, nothing but unpleasant correspondence with employees, and the recommendation that you go just about anywhere else for your education because all they care about here is getting your money. Their portal is the least user friendly system I have ever used and navigating it to figure out why I even had a charge and how much it was, was a pain! Go to a different college, a trade school, or skip it altogether. Whatever you do, don't bother with CSU.Katlyn Tracey

I feel bad for the workers though. The security and Allied Security are great people. My point is, with a more expensive university like this, the money goes into the buildings and parties than with some of the workers and classes there. That's why theres no growth of positive christian energy: the 'leaders' above the workers refuse to look at the livelihood of them. There are plenty of games and playful activities. But I'm more for the people and knowledge than silly activities taking the profit away from those who need to keep up with societies shift and changes. They ignore problems school wise and fills you with all this fancy stuff. If you are going for kinesiology DONT DO IT, the teachers lack any sort of Christian principles or characteristics, or any sort of respect whatsoever, if you are going for psychology you will have the absolute best teachers in the world…..Spent 5 years here and had major health issues and surgeries throughout my time there, the kinesiology department didn't care or work with me in fact they had zero compassion so much so my doctor had to call them and they even treated him like trash, the psychology department was the total opposite and I will never forgot the compassion and care they showed me. They are the only reason I was able to finish my degree. So choose your route carefully, or just go to a state school they have more compassion than this "Christian" school does.Brook

The dentists here are very helpful and want to makes you feel as comfortable as possible. They are very thorough and fix your teeth right the first time. You do have to pay up front but it is much less than it would cost elsewhere. If you get a referral from your dentist you can make an appointment instead of waiting in the first come first served line. I'm so thankful to them for the root canal they did for me!A

Once enrolled good luck getting anything resolved. Instructors provide no actual instruction. You read assigned materials that's all, no video lectures-nothing. They require weekly discussions that are assignments. They are subsequently graded on a discussion rubric that is incongruent to the ASSIGNMENT. The concept of self- paced is not adhered to. Some instructors don't allow access to the entire course content, forcing you to work on their schedule. As a working adult I enrolled because I need flexibility. I have brought this to the schools attention and still dont have access to complete assignments as my schedule permits. The assignments are arbitrary at best. At this point, grades are no longer my concern, I just want to finish. APU has definitely deterred me from any future online learning. My next educational encounters will be in a traditional setting where someone is in front of you, it makes it much harder for them to dodge your concerns. Would not attend again!T Hampton

This university will not teach you anything except what red flags to look for at other universities. If you want you lesson plan to be a brief slideshow of generic definitions and links to outside websites, this is the school for you. You will walk away with nothing except lighter pockets. School support is a joke, you submit classroom tickets that take 24-48 hours for a response and if you don’t get it resolved on the first email, it’s another 24-48 hours. The instructors give you lower grades if they don’t agree with your perspective on topics, even if you addressed everything in the assignment. The grading rubric is merely a suggestive grading scale. They don’t have a true grievance process, you send an email to a “feedback” campus email. They are currently being investigated by the higher learning commission due to accreditation concerns. Do not give this school your money if you care about getting a quality education.Mary Thompson

It seems as though every online school has it's downfalls. I earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from this school and truthfully, it was the most difficult and challenging period of my life. My professors were extremely professional and I had no issues with my GI bill. I saw someone post about obtaining their master's program in Psychology that may not hold value. When I looked into the program myself I asked those questions to see if it holds value in anything and it does not hold much in what I wanted to do specifically. Instead of mastering in psychology, I am moving on to Human Resources. I've had the best experience so far, so I have no complaints. It is military friendly, and that's why it associates itself with the military. My professors were understanding when I had to leave for JRTC training. I think in any school things will happen, you just have to do your part in researching.Claire C
