5 Best Mph Programs In Bakersfield, CA (2022 Updated)

This school could use some updates. I applied to one of the graduate programs. I received an email indicating to fill out a printed version of the application to the program. Everything has to be printed on paper. I also had to make an order money check to pay for the application and other payments. I believe there should be options do to it online. I had to pay overnight shipping for I did not what my private information to be lost. There was a worker that has helped me a lot of the questions, but still made me uneasy about the program. I did not receive any notification when my application was received. The only way I knew it was received was because a worker called me to ask me a few questions about my application. Months went by. I called April and admissions did not know anything about my status on my application. I had to call someone in the program. (Same worker that was helping me). She said by mid April the school should know who they are accepting. Mid April pass now it is towards the end of May. I still have not received anything from the school. I called to ask again and the same worker told me end of May. There are only four days left for the end of May. Fall semester usually starts in August. No notification at all from the school. No rejection notification, nor waitlisted, nor acceptance. A friend even jokingly said “Does this school even exist?”. So disappointing. I cannot even plan my education without knowing if I got accepted or not. Maybe I should have applied to other schools.nvstar

Amazing experience. CSU Bakersfield doing Covid vaccines for anyone that wants one. All thats needed is photo ID. Very professional, very friendly, and very quick staff. The entire time from parking in the abundant parking spaces to walking to the facility, waiting in line, getting the show, waiting the 15 minutes, and leaving was less than an hour. Thank you to everyone the set up, ran, and administered the vaccines. Your staff are the real heros. The participants even were on point by following the guidelines to make the experience enjoyable.Kevin Butler

This is a good college, with many great professors, especially in the psychology department. This area has far fewer people, so it's easier to go to school here than some of the other more crowded universities down below. It's not a great place to live, not so much because it's a bad town, but because of the air-quality. But you're much more likely to pay lower rent, and find it easier to go to college here, if you're considering going to a CSU. I'm grateful for my time there.Brian Dillard

I went here off an on for a.few years however I moved out of state for 2 yrs when I returned I went on to order transcripts and saw I had a bill In further review I saw there were classes added to my acct but the format they use now canvas and such isnt something I've used. It's been years since I've taken classes. Well the classes were never dropped and never paid for but they are charging me for them. Classes that are way off of anything I've ever taken. Well no one will help me they keep saying I added them etc etc. Rediculous. I was a pre nursing major and the classes are like wildlife law stuff. Idek what to do. Makes me sad bcuz I don't even want to send my daughter here now.Merri Suydam

I've heard that it's a good place to start at, that's it. Trying to get ahold of ANYONE in charge there is a lost cause. Trying to report baseballs hitting our cars in the neighborhood from their baseball practice, reporting student cars parked in front of my driveway, and now trying to get anything done about the excessively loud music played while their baseball practice is going on….no one responds. The neighbors and I can hear the music from six houses down across the street….and from inside our homes!!! Their coaches clearly are not concerned about teaching any moral values or respect.Bug Lover

Inconsiderate college. They have courses listed for students to sign up only for them to get cancelled shortly after. They claim "low enrollment" but the classes that are available are filled to capacity. There are 100 students in one of classes with no online option! They do not care of the risk COVID. Professors don't even answer their emails when you ask them about available classes they are teaching. Go to CSUB and stop wasting your time with these chumps!M C

The car seat program the county offers was surprisingly quick and informative! Initially, like many free programs out there, I thought that it would take a while to get a call back or even set something up but this totally exceeded my expectations! The whole process took about a week and the people who helped me through it was very understanding and flexible. I had to reschedule my first appointment due to child care and the safety technician totally understood and was happy to work around my schedule. The actual appointment to get the car seat was fast (didn't even take an hour) and he went over some safety protocols and little known facts about California law. He was very informative, showed me how to install the car seat, and answered all my questions. He even helped me bring the car seat to my car! All in all, I'm glad the county offers this program to parents and it was well worth it!Linnae Ranis

They can’t tell you anything. I called today August 2, 2021. To ask for a free covid testing site. The woman that answered could not give me any information on where to go for the free covid testing. She said to try Rite Aid, but they require an appointment and only do it thru the drive thru, scheduled 3 weeks away. She said Urgent Care, they are not free. The health department doesn’t do the testing anymore, only the vaccines. What’s the point of the local Health Dept??? They did not help at all!Bug Lover

i lived in Kern County for a year and a half and at no point would this Health Department let me file an application for my MMIC. i paid SO MUCH in taxes that i shouldn't have. the state said its only Kern and a few counties up north that were doing this so if you can help it move into LA County as they won't let you apply out of the county either. insane that a receptionist gets to control sick people's liveskitten

There's definitely room for improvement. My daughter got into a dual immersion program in another school so we had to do an interdistrict transfer. I got her letter of acceptance during spring break and had to complete the process the day they went back to school. HOW?! I called to leave a voice-mail but the call would simply drop, leaving a voice-mail was not an option apparently. So I emailed the two people that were listed as interdistrict transfer department and didn't get an answer, stil haven't. I do understand that they were on vacation but I still wanted to at least try to reach them. Thankfully the principal in the new school got back to me and after going to the school office and explaining, I was able to get a different deadline. It's simply NOT possible or acceptable to require parents/gardians to complete any process with the district when they know they will not be available. Please, do answer the phones. I understand that you're busy, but you could set up the phones to a waiting system at the very least! And yes, I continued to try and reach them by phone when they went back from vacation and the calls would still drop.Betsabe Usher

I tryed making a complaint of a teacher and priciple !!! From william pennn elementry threw the distrcit johnson!! Was so shaddy!!! She said it would just stay as called no corm neemed to be filled out!! I wouldnt get a update if tht staff was written up or fired!!!! Mmm though she was crokedd so i calldx CDE best believe they told meee i had to fill out a complaint uniform form!!! Aya !!! No such paper mmmm !!! I had to go to the distrcit make the complaint on paperother wisee my effort would have been ignored!!!!! In order for California Dept of education to stepin and do a good investigation !!!! I have been a volunteer since the age of 18 back in 1979. And I have seen a lot of changes some for the better. The best one I think is, that all employees have to wear BCSD picture IDs. Great plus. Now when anyone is on campus you can see who's staff employee. My school site in the Downtown school. And I love it! 🙂 2017-2018 Looking forward to the up coming new school year.isbael cortez

Once I arrived, there was a blonde lady who was having a chat with someone else right in front of the entrance door and didn't move so I asked her if there was some kind of line inside. Turns out she's an employee chatting with another woman so I told her I'm trying to file for unemployment since I had just finished my enlistment in the military. She told me to file online and so I told her that the website states for me to fax it. Well she gets me and application that is for ex service members and then just continued talking. I never knew they just rush vets out the building so fast and turns out she gave me the wrong application form and was no help whatsoever. I have not tried any other service there but I hope the whole staff isn't the same as this womanJon

I just called America's Job Center of California on Belle Terrace and some older lady answered, I just had one question and she was very rude!. Wow, how do people like that work on those types of jobs?. I asked for you and she told me I needed to talk to you and to call you directly. I understand what she was saying BUT don't tell me with a freaking attitude!. Sorry Julie, you have being very helpful but truthfully those type of people discourage others from trying to better themselves. She didn't give me her name otherwise, I would probably call her superior and complain. I thought "America's Job Center of California" was there to help not to upset people! Thank YouPeter Hernandez

I went here to obtain my welding certificate, I had to pass a series of tests to be eligible for the program. The staff and councillors were very helpfull in helping me pass these tests. It was a great experience!Tom Sweat
