Very proud Spartan here. I left my home in NYC to attend NSU back in 1988 at the age of 18. However, I really grew up while attending college. I loved my courses (some harder than others). I loved my professors (some more than others). I loved the beautiful campus, the extra curricular activities (especially the parties) and I loved the friendships I made. The fact this is an HBCU… Well, that is best of all. There is nothing like being nurtured by your own culture. It is a priceless gift. You take it into the world with full understanding that you not only have something to contribute, but it has value no one can take from you. Some student decided to order doordash from Virginia Beach Which was 18 minutes out of my way and then they couldn't even tip. all I got was the base pay from doordash I couldn't even buy a cup of coffee with that. If people are going to order food and have it delivered to them they need to learn how to tip Or you better get something that's close by because you don't order from another city and then you can't even tip. The good thing and what I *really* desire the most about the "Green" and "Gold," is that visitation, even when you are not invited the University allows you to break free and be yourself. Because of this, makes me ought not to approach with such criticism when it is just basic conversation. Norfolk State University during such trying times for us all makes me want to think twice about James Madison University (where my mostly white classmates will cheer me on). Appreciate the love. I AM NOT A STUDENT. IM A TOURIST I toured this beautiful school yesterday. It was absolutely beautiful. To walk around seeing so much scripture. So many things to inspire young minds and hearts to Christ. I did not get a chance to walk around the entire campus but the places I did see were amazing. My tour guide was Robert Vann. He knew a lot of history and important things about the school. He probably knew the mission statement if I asked him. He took us into the Chapel and had so many great things to say about it. He also said, the school was a safe place for Christians. The professors and staff, knew Jesus. Frfr. They encourage a relationship with Christ. He has never been around so many different ethnicities fully in worship together. It reminded him of Heaven. He saw that we are all the same. The school opened the eyes of his heart to so many different beautiful things about ALL of the people of God. I’m not gone lie, I don’t wanna say that I would ever move back to Virginia. And I do not like school. However, after seeing the school, and hearing the Words of Mr. Vann, it makes me want to consider attending Regent. I could not have chosen a better university to finish my education as well continue with. My professors are very understanding and compassionate because we need that today in the world we live in. Even if you aren't a Christian the respect and just humbleness of all my professors and even peers has been extremely outstanding . I am speechless. My professors pray for me and at times that's what I needed the most. The School work had true meaning and purpose. You aren't just going to school just to go to school. All of it has meaning. I am excited to Start my PhD program and finish proudly as a regent Graduate. Trust me I did my undergrad at a major university and I was just a number and did not feel like I got as much out of as much I got out my masters. Also it's affordable!!! First, let me say I'm so glad I choose Regent University to study. The Professors, staff, and administration made you feel welcome. My past two years there are ones I'll cherish. The biblical principles and education I received have equipped me to go out and change the world. The Professors care about your well-being just as much as your academic development. Although the classes were online. We engaged in numerous zoom sessions and kept a level of closeness. I highly recommend Regent University to anyone seeking quality higher education. I Graduated as and honor student earned my A.O.S as a CMA. I was told by centura that they would help me find a Job. It never happened. And I search for a Job for 2yrs and I even tried to volunteer for doctors office's and private care. I was told since I didn't have any experience they couldn't assist me I had to have at least 1yr experience in the field. I feel like I was deceived and tricked into a student loan and I no longer have my certification because I couldn't find a Job I still have my degree but if I wanted to search for a Job in the field again I would have to go back to take the test or a refresher course. Meaning paying more money and that's not going to happen. I'm really considering taking this issue further legal actions against this school for misleading and deceptive information having people to believe that they are going to get a job and instead your stuck with dept.. Centura is a great place to start over or even finish something you need to finish. I personally love this school. They have helped me to realize my potential. They push for excellence I'm glad because I'm in the top 5% of my class and just got invited to The National Honor Society. You set your goals at Centura they make sure you reach them. Waste of time and money didn’t learn anything. They make you pay for books that you’ll never open because everything’s on the computer, you basically teach yourself. More computer action than hands on and lecture and lectures are read word for word out the books the put online, no clarity . I’m leaving the program with little knowledge from that school and not confident that I’ll pass the certifications and actually get a job in the field. would give zero stars if possible. They lost my wife's application for the nursing program after they conveniently got all our money for the pre classes. First they blamed my wife for not putting in her application, but then realized they misplaced it and their response was, "better luck next year." Another student in the class was denied for the nursing program after South university realized she was missing a pre req class that they forgot to put into her degree program! Their first priority is collecting your money. Its not a big deal to them if they screw up your program and you have to wait anther year to apply.Brandon Smith

I am currently a student here and if I could I would give it zero stars. The only reason why I am staying is because my teachers that I had on campus so far are fantastic. The admin side of this school is HORRIBLE! The lack of communication in the front office from registering for classes down to financial aid is a joke. If they worked on their communication skills and take responsibility for their mistakes and own up to it, then the school would be so much better until then I would not recommend this school.Tiffany Sealy

“Teachers” are not qualified at all and often teach factually incorrect material. On top of that the entire staff has a major power trip complex. You can get suspended for making too much eye contact with a hall monitor. It’s absurd and borders on abuse. If you have any other questions I have dozens of horror stories. I enrolled in the phlebotomy class in September to October as a current CNA. I hate needles and I also was very curious to get my phlebotomy education. The process of enrolling is easy and quick, including a phone interview and coming in to sign papers and brining in your own paper work. You can pay in increments while going to school, so that was really nice. The class was about 13 of us, you are required to not miss more than 3 days to pass and that includes make up assignments. Within the second to third class we were all sticking each other and having a blast. Once you get your first tube of blood, you feel so wonderful and you just don’t want to stop. 95% of your work is online linked to your text book that’s provided. My instructor Mr. Mesa was nice and was very patient with all of us. Although I wish that we learned more and certain things we asked about he wasn’t to sure about them. This class is all about remembering your order of draw, understanding what additives are in what tubes, venipunture, capillary puncture, safety, patient identification, different equipment you’ll see, handing instructions and what type of tests go to what tubes. Overall, I can say I’m pleased with the training I received at TMT. Dr. Misa is a GEM! He makes class fun and interesting and lets us know just what to study for the exam. The financial process is straightforward and the payment plan ensures that you can make your payments in a timely manner. However, the externship portion of the class was less than enjoyable. Understandably, due to Covid, a lot of offices aren’t accepting students. However, we researched and found offices that accepted students for a project so there’s really no reason the school couldn’t utilize the practices we found to take students. Additionally, some of the students found the externship coordinator to be abrasive when it came to determining our clinical sites and had myself and another student had not contacted her 3 days before externships we’re due to begin, we would have been forgotten about. We ended up having to do our externships virtually. That’s why I knocked a star off my review. But if you have Mr. Misa as your instructor, you’re in good hands. I feel prepared and already have a job lined up 4 days after taking my exam and becoming certified.Maria Chowning

I'm very pleased with the educational experience I recieved at Tidewater Medical Training. The instructor and staff are professional, well versed, educated, courteous and approachable. Upon graduation I was confident that I would pass my State Boards and I did!!! The evaluators at Pearson Vue were kind, warm , professional and fair. Also, Tidewater Medical Training holds a job fair towards the completion of the course. Which is great because I already have a Nurse Aid position waiting for me. If you have a heart to help people like me and to be in the medical field. I would strongly encourage you to attend this school. You're not just a number here, the classes are small and you learn at a steady pace. In addition, the tuition is reasonable also. Just think…..it will only take you 6 weeks to complete the program and from there youre in demand because Nurse Aids are the backbones to the Nurses and Physicians! When a Regents Professor Law Professor James Duane tells advises everyone in his online class to NOT comply with the police officer when one is stopped at a traffic site, he is instigating legal problems with the person stopped and ANY officer.. a 5 min traffic stop becomes a 45 min+ useless and non needed exercise to hinder the police working to serve normal persons best( yes reference is that the sov cit is not a normal person , thx). When they do show up at court.. where the argument needs to be.. the judge simply tells the sov cit..no it donest work that way.. you may pay for your infraction or serve time..NOW the driver/traveler/ person of doubious intent has worries. forget about that initial 5 min get a ticket and pay.Guy Sabol

Before trying a take down during an impeachment trail of the President of the United States, check with your aids that you heard the other lawyer correctly. Simply humiliating. And I’m not even speaking to the obvious issue of a lawyer defending someone they know to be guilty. Although I have not had very many appts at this office, I am adding how I appreciate the medical assistants…who are always very pleasant and helpful. I cannot remember names much, but I was there today for blood work and "Calethia" was very patient and pleasant with me. She also made sure any questions I had were answered before I left. How can anyone trust a medical school that employs professors that lack any sort of professionalism. Psychiatric professors that thinks he can diagnose people based off their acting? Without a single face to face sit down? That they can see a persons processing speed? Poor upkeep. Over priced. Slum living quarters Look at ODU as an alternative. Although housing can be iffy there too. A third of the price and it’s a real campus. Not a good experience. Not enough housing, put kids in the shady hotels nearby. I hate to bash a local school but trust me, don’t send your kids there.building new apts across street but are not for students. Courses are mediocre, for the price should be outstanding. Even with any scholarship you “think” you are getting. Sports are used to entice more students. I loved it. As an adult student returning to finish my degree this was the perfect place for me. Smaller classes, nice campus, professors were all wonderful. It was exactly what I needed. I finished my degree, found a decent job, no issues at all. I would highly recommend it. I have heard that the on campus housing can be rough and some of the dorms are older but I lived off campus so this was never an issue for me. NOTE- I am a veteran and used my GI Bill. I met several other students who were ex military doing the same. So obviously it is a vet friendly school which is great.Joshua Shuman

DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL!!!! If you are an athlete DON'T DO IT. This is an unexciting, dreary campus. Dorms are lack luster, smelly, dirty, and need a cosmetic makeover. You will feel like you're living in the garage. Mold and reaches. BUGS IN SHOWERS on shower curtains! THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM IN THE ROSE HALL DORMS. Salem is really diverse and really accepting, everywhere you see people that would normally be in cliques, hanging out with people who would generally never be around them. For example, I'm a major weirdo and as an Academy student I'm into all the arts; some of my good friends here are dancers, cheerleaders, upperclassmen and members of an array of sports teams. I attend class of Salem HS, yes I am a Sundevil soon to be of 2019. BUT. I lost a fellow friend this past year and nobody seems to care nor remember anything about him. He has attended schools that promised support and a healthy learning environment but didn’t deliver. Not a good experience. Mom was there for six hours. This is her fourth stay at a rehab facility in the last 4 years, she has many complex health and medication needs for severe pain management, wounds, infections, and diabetes. She is also severely immobile and labeled a paraplegic. At first the staff seemed nice. The building is older and run-down but the room was clean and spacious. They had a dinner tray prepared for her as we were a late admission after hours. Unfortunately, the facility does not have an on-site pharmacy, so mom never got her meds. Thank goodness she had access to her cellphone. She was in excruciating pain, only to have staff tell her to "wait for your meds and say your prayers" My sister contacted her nurse who stated he would take care of her. According to Mom, he then came to her room praising my sister for being such a good daughter, and then gave her two spoons of pudding – PRESUMABLY with her meds crushed up in them. Still no relief. She was pressing her call button for over an hour with no response. At midnight my sister and I intervened. Once we gained access (props for the good security, not so much for the customer service) two staff members were in her room attempting to reposition her. They informed us we weren't allowed to be in the room while they moved her. I promptly informed them that was BS, and after my speech about decency, consent, and patient care they left us alone to get mom comfy. We tried for an hour with no relief. We asked for meds at least 3 times, not once did anyone tell us they weren't even THERE. The pain at this point was so debilitating she was calling out for her deceased mother to help her and begging us to get her out of there. At 1am we advised the staff to call for an ambulance to get her back to the hospital for her pain. When the EMTs arrived the supervisor finally came in. She explained the pharmacy situation and that her meds had still not arrived. (What in ever-loving heck was in the 2 spoons of pudding!?) By 130am she was on her way to the ER. SEVEN hours without any meds. Only six hours spent at this facility. By the time she got to the ER, processed, and vein access was found she had been without meds for 9 hours. It took 3 hours of continuous pain, repositioning, and multiple medications to finally make a dent in the pain, which she rated as a 15 on a 1-10 scale. Now she's stuck un the ER until the Care Coordinator and her insurance can get her into another facility. Awful experience.Aly Danysh

My mother has been there for about 2&1/2 months . She has lost 17 pounds because she doesn't like the food ! She was there before , about a year ago and loved the food because she said the food tasted homemade , but not anymore ! She says it tastes like it came out of a can or that it was frozen since there was a change of management ! I think our seniors deserve better than that ! All in all , I think once they get her night time meds straightened out , she is receiving good Healthcare. She did say she didn't like being woken up at 4:30 am to take meds and have her blood pressure taken ! Would you ? Also she most of the nurses aids were very nice and helpful , just a couple who weren't. She adores her roommate ! She's great ! Well , it's now August 11 , 2022 and my mom passed away yesterday . She didn't make it there for even 4 months . Her health declined rapidly . With the drastic weight loss and the constant urinary tract infections , and then being left unattended and being at risk for a fall , she fell and fractured her thigh bone and never really got any better after that . Her last weekend there , she called out for help for 2 days and 2 nights as her body began to swell and they did nothing ! Finally on Sunday afternoon they called the paramedics and they took her to the hospital and she died 3 days later , at least they made her comfortable with pain medication. Please don't put your loved one in this place if you really care about them . I can't even count the number of times my mother ended up in the hospital in the 4 months in their care ! 😥Cheryl Beane

I have been so pleased with Virginia Beach Healthcare and Rehab. Everyone is so kind. The food is delicious. The facility is very clean with none of those “nursing home” smells. This facility was not on my preference list when my husband left the hospital because I didn’t know it existed. I had just read recommendations on local apps. But, I am so glad my husband is here. Not a safe place for dementia patients, fall risks, wander risks, or choking risks. My father was transferred here for rehab after being in the hospital for multiple pelvic fractures. He had mid to late stage Alzheimer’s. He was mostly non-verbal, couldn’t walk due to the fractures, and he took a long time to chew his food. We discovered very quickly that a family member needed to stay with him throughout visiting hours to ensure he was safe and getting enough fluid and food. -First, the therapists seemed to do a good job. Daryl was excellent in caring for my dad and helping us. The speech therapist took some time in feeding him. The nurses were, for the most part, kind and hard working. Unfortunately they aren’t given the time to properly care for all of the patients. And there seems to be no daily briefing before their shifts start where they are informed on the specifics of each patient. The problem seems to be with administration and management rather than the care workers. -Every nurse that came into the room to rotate and change him was unaware of the pelvic fractures, and surprised by the news. -After 2 days in the rehab section, my dad was moved to the long term care section. We were not consulted on this. -The nurses do not have time to feed a patient that needs more time and assistance eating. The food served to these patients is very inappropriate. For example, on his last day there, my dad was delivered a very tough, uncut, 2×2 inch slab of meat steak. I couldn’t get the fork into the steak and had to work to saw it into small pieces for him. -There are no alarms on beds for fall hazard patients. We put a sign on the bed asking that the bed be put at the lowest level when he was alone (which was most of the time unless a family member was there). -This is not a safe place for a wander risk. The different sections of the building are not closed off with doors and/or alarms. The only alarms are on the exit doors; no keypad exit on the main door. Anyone can still wander outside. -We put a sign on the bed stating my dad had multiple pelvic fractures since every day at least one new nurse came in that was not informed of his specifics (injuries, non-verbal, choking risk). -He contracted covid while there. While staying late with him one night, I witnessed the head nurse come in at 1 am with three others to roll and change him. She did not wear a mask. Another pulled her mask down to talk to my dad. -We decided to get him to a safe long term care facility with a dementia unit as soon as possible. A requirement for his transfer was a negative covid PCR test. It came back positive the next day. -They moved my dad to an isolation room at 6 pm the day his covid test came back positive. My mom was with him. They closed the door and did not come back. My mom left sometime after 9 PM and never saw anyone. My sister called the next morning to find out if my dad was okay and was told that a nurse was going in and my sister could call back in an hour. She was not given any information on my dad. We have no idea if he was cared for at all during the night. – I arrived that day at 10 am (the start of visiting hours). My father received very little care that day. I had to call someone in to change his diaper after no one came for several hours to check on him. I was concerned about his hydration since he wasn’t eating or drinking much. I requested an IV to multiple people early in the day and was told a request would be put into the IV team. At 5 pm we were told that the IV request had not been placed until later in the day and the person that did it had left for Richmond and would be back around 10 if we still wanted it placed. At that point, we called 911. At 5:30, it had been 5.5 hours since lunch had been delivered. My dad was taken to the hospital around 6 PM. At just after 8 PM, he was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia and dehydration. My father passed away in the hospital.AVB Lady

If you care about the well being of your loved one do not put them in this facility. Nursing staff needs to be trained on kindness, how they talk to patients and their families. Very unprofessional behavior, alot of standing around at the desk while patients are ringing in for help, they do not want to do the job required of them such as bathing, medical care, or even providing fresh water to patients to drink. Wound care is definitely not something they are trained properly on or they just could care less.Nurses had to be reminded to clean and change the bandages, family member witnessed nurse aggressively ripping the bandages off wound when asked to change a blood soaked bandage then did not clean the wound before applying a new bandage. Discussed issues with upper Management about the issues witnessed and received a sorry employees will be retrained. Physical therapy team is excellent and very friendly, they were willing to do the jobs that the nurses and aides were not doing. At the end of this unacceptable stay parent had to be transported by ambulance to ER with 102 temperature severe infection in leg, pneumonia, very bad UTI and bladder infection. Fortunately after the hospital stay we were able to get them in a better facility with much nicer experienced medical staff.Kimberly Gladding

On October 1, 2022 I fell and broke 2 ribs and fractured 3 ribs. After a week in hospital, it was suggested I go to rehab for PT and OT. I chose Princess Anne Health and Rehabilitation. I was in so much pain. After my check in, I was comforted by CNAs and staff. My 9 day stay was welcoming. The entire staff was outstanding. The nurses were accommodating to my fear of needles. They made sure I was handled with care. Everyday was like I was with family. The OT and PT staff was friendly and made sure I didn't do more than needed to not over assert myself. Upon my day to leave, a few came in to wish me well on my healing. After a few days home, office worker Shasha called to check on me! Totally unexpected and very appreciated!! IF AT ALL POSSIBLE DO NOT LET A FRIEND OR LOVED ONE STAY HERE!!! My mother is currently staying here after breaking her hip joint, and she very rarely complains. This morning she called me crying her eyes out. I don't know if the nurses have lost their humanity but what nurse in their right mind would not only forget about a patient, let the alarms just keep ringing off the hook, forget to bringing a patient their pain meds, and also forget about leaving them sitting on a toilet knowing well enough that they need help getting off of it?Jenny Lusk

The staff is very nice. The facility is very clean. The menu is awesome & every tray that l have seen brought to her has been hot,well presented, & looks great. She looks like she is enjoying it too. She had dropped a few ibs. & looks like she has found them. This is a good thing. Being in the medical field working in the hospital & rehab setting tends to make one critical.. The Nurses, Physical & Occupational Therapists, Nicole & Rachel are very professional knowledgeable & friendly. Staff & the administrators are very helpful & friendly. The facility is clean. Food is very good & served quite timely. The only thing I would point out that there is was choice low fat milk or dessert for diabetics. The advisor staff at the counseling office are very rude and sad to say the black staff there treats white people poorly. They don't do a thorough advising session, they dont allow parents to be apart of it, they dont care about answering parents questions. I observed (as a black person) how they talk, look at, and interacted with white people. They are condescending, rude, and its very unnecessary and disgusting. I mentioned this feedback as I was there today, and the supervisor said oh its just (the main one I pointed out) her personality, she has a strong stern personality. I told her no that's unacceptable, she didn't interact with me like that. And these people didn't act or provoke that type of response. They need to learn to treat everyone the same and be more professional, and not excuse bad behavior. We left and went to Chesapeake campus its definitely night and day!!!! 7/22 Definitely left the campus unhappy. Get better people in the financial aid department that actually want to help you. I came in person because calling the 855 number is an absolute Joke. When I came up to the 2nd Floor, all the lights were turned off in the Financial aid section and I thought they were closed. As I approached closer, I saw the light of the laptop on and the lady sitting in the dark. She was very unfriendly and seem bothered with my questions like it's an inconvenience for us to come in person for help. Do better Tidewater CC!!!!!!N.A.

If you need to speak to a counselor, good luck. They are severely lacking and can’t seem to manager their time between virtual and in person. I doubt they know how to theirs jobs at the Virginia Beach campus. To speak to one in person you are looking at a 2 and half hour wait or more. Those office people don’t seem care about the students. You would be better off attending another college. The Virginia Beach campus needs new administration personnel. Fire and get rid of them all and we can do everything online. Why even have the buildings.Amber Hallett
