20 Best Medical Assistant Programs In Murrieta, CA (2022 Updated)

I love and loved South Coast College. The best thing about it was its staff. From its court reporting instructors to its paralegal program, everything is taught and intended to provide the student with the best opportunity to leave its halls with knowledge superlative to that of students from anywhere else. What are your chances of obtaining a position in the legal office as a court reporter, paralegal or legal assistant? That is probably what I should have asked myself prior to obtaining a "less-than-godly" student loan! I graduated mentally prepared – but financially not quite ready to work at the rate at which most legal firms hire those fresh out of school! Although I work in a field completely unrelated to that in which I was trained (I graduated from the paralegal program and am one of two people now running a surgical company.) At this time, the courts in Los Angeles and Orange County are hiring court reporters, while deposition agencies like Hahn and Bowersock, Regal Court Reporting, Barkley have all been hiring — keeping graduates busily engaged. I've been involved in the occupation for nearly 25 years. Yes, it has been challenged by electronic recording, but that comes and goes. Its what people make of their own choices in life. Today I am seeing this as a great opportunity for anyone with an entrepreneurial spirit who is willing to jump in and take advantage of the varied paths the skill of court reporting can provide including court and deposition reporting, as well as CART (steno-interpreting for the hearing-impaired) and captioning live television. My Business Administration Management class was amazing, I learned so much and I am carrying it with everywhere I go. Some people do not like it and so do. My instructor was so brilliant and I am so proud and thankful for him. Great school for a community college. I heard it’s the best around. Many students come from San Diego or from the North just to go here. They do a lot of things by hand (compared to other schools that do things electronically). The grounds are well kept. The parking is horrible during the beginning of the semester. More parking will be available as time comes. When you register for a class, you need to pay the same day or you get dropped. If you’ve dropped a lot of classes, the school might give you a hold because the classes are impacted. There is a daycare center. Parking permits and books are relatively cheaper than most.Aurora A

Good School. The campus is breath taking. Views of the ocean in the dining hall and surrounding areas. Tons of plants and trees all around, a great variety. Staff are helpful. Parking is a struggle, unless you don't mind parking in dirt lots but then it's not worth buying a parking permit. As for professors and academia, they could improve. Check professors ratings onlines some teach to only one or two learning styles. The classes are pretty easy. Maybe to easy.Michael

If you are a Veteran and want to attend this school I recommend you don't. I personally have had multiple issues with communication with the school as well as obtaining an appointment with their one VA counselor. My appointment was made a month and a half out mainly because that specific date was the only day that would work for me. I was suppose to walk in at 4 pm to see the counselor. Mind you I called earlier that day to confirm my appointment, even received an email notification confirming my appointment. They told me they accidentally double booked, but to come in anyways and they will just squeeze me in. Came in at 350 PM checked in the front desk looked confused, I explained the situation and I didn't get seen until 5:45 PM I had a final for speech class at 6 PM. If you decide to take online classes be careful you could end up like me log in and check the course the first day of the semester in this case July 19th 2017 at 8:55 AM and see that there are no notifications or assignments post yet. Log in that Friday still having issues to find out you got dropped that Wednesday for not being active in the course. I logged in that Monday to do the Class work knowing that my other class kept me busy tues, wed, thurs. All just to find out that your email was jacked because of the conversion they did in spring, therefore getting locked from your account. I do not recommend this school or the school district it has only been a constant uphill battle for me and to many stressful occurrences. Attend a Cal State or Cal University.Cody

I have been trying to see a counselor, and so far I have come to the counseling department more than five times. Anytime I went there, they said that there are a lot of students so go come back tomorrow at 8:00 am. When I went there at 8:00 am the next day, they said oh we don't do walk ins, you can go today, but for tomorrow give us a call to confirm if there is any counselor available. I did call them the day before coming they said yes come around 8:00 am you will for sure see a counselor, I got there at 8:00 am, but unfortunately again they said that there are a lot of students and they only have one counselor. I don't know what game do they play with students, I missed going to work for 3 days, and it seems that I might not be able to take any classes this summer just because of not being able to see a counselor. I request the authorities of this nice college to pay attention to this problem, and find some possible ways of solution since the students need to have updated Educationan Plans.Tawfiq Sediqi

This college is a freaking mess and very unorganized!!!! Fist visit, they told me counseling was open until 4:30pm. Got there at 3:34pm and said they stop at 3pm. They told me to come back tomorrow and they will do counseling till 4pm. I got early from work the nex day, and when I get to the counseling office, they said they are not doing counseling today! They tell me to come back tomorrow. They couldn't take appointments because they were too busy that week. I come back the next day, my job let me get off early again, when I get to the counseling they tell me their system is down! They tell me to come back on Saturday for the event. They tell me counseling and student services will be open. I'm here at the counseling at 10am, they freaking tell me no counselors today, they are only taking picture for IDS !!!! This is the worse experience I had. Very unprofessional, not organized!!!! I'm very upset!!!!!Miriam Gal

As a young man going to college for the for the first time, this was a great experience for me. I thought I would hate college, since I hated going to school my entire life, but wow this college is awesome. The school is really small. You will learn how to get around with ease. The campus is also on a hill, and surrounded by lovely nature, trees and animals of All sorts. Which I personally love. The tutoring system is amazing and I’m completely satisfied. I really abuse the math and English tutors everyday! The library is beautiful (my favorite place). The food though could use improvements though, but that’s about it. 99% of people are very friendly so it’s a great environment for me personally. I never thought I would love going to school until now thank god wow! I will never transfer to another college I love this place and I can wait to start school again. Rio Hondo has evolved so much since i first started taking classes in 2006. One of the things that hasn't changed is the attention and support that the staff give the students. Many new buildings like the library have been reconstructed and updated to accommodate the return of all the students back to campus after enduring the pandemic. Alos a good place to hike. you can take the far side entrance by the police academy and continue on up the side road all the way to the top. its pretty challenging but the views are great. Im currently taking a ceramics class, and its quite enjoyable and you get to take home all your completed work.Andrew Ramirez

Best Community College I have been to, they have a lot to offer. Their programs help to guide students into their specific major. The career counseling helped me realize which career I want to be in. Also I found the math lab very useful and they even offer it Saturday mornings. They have the best staff who are very knowledgeable and caring and listen to you and offer the best advice to achieve your individual goals. If anyone is looking into the medical assistant field please do yourself a favor and look at the pay rate and how much it costs to attend this horrible program. Program costs about 30k and MA barely make that yearly, you can go to a community college for about the same time and get paid to go. I cannot wait for SJVC to get sued for taking advantage of vulnerable people, giving false promises to students of a career in medical assistant, you will not be able to live on that type of low income. You have a better opportunity making more money at Target, most of my credits did not transfer even though I was told they would so I wasted my time. I had to retake most of my classes which I did in about the same time as I was at sjvc and will be applying to the nursing program. This is a horrible schoolJammy Jam

An amazing institution Went here as a student from Feb 2019 until graduation Oct 2019. I was enrolled in the front office medical admin program. 7 months and upon graduation, I passed and got nationally certified for billing/coding. My teacher Ms.Hernandez was amazing, caring and knowledgeable. The school and its staff went above and beyond for me (I was unemployed at the time) and now I am employed and have actual hope for my future. It taught me a variety of skills that applied in many jobs for medical assistants. The bad? It won't teach you everything. It won't get you a Masters Degree and a six figure job. But that's not the point of this trade School. It's a start, a path to better prospects. It's made good on that so far =)Vince M

I had previously been accepted to a university, having experience payment issues (that school was wicked expensive) I found SJVC, they help me make a smooth transition from the other school to there and my time there was amazing. Meeting different people from different programs and other people who just didn't want the traditional school experience. I went for my certificate MOA program (took 7 months of class time and 2 months of externship time). Loved my teacher and classmates and learning was easy and I understood all the lessons. I even got on the dean's list after getting my certificate. My career counselor even helped me find my full time job. This review is for the Pharmacy Technician program at the San Marcos, CA campus, taught by Mrs. Becker. I am a graduate and was taught by Mrs. Becker. A 5-star experience. Mrs. Becker is passionate about teaching her profession. She truly cares about her students – she strives to get to know them, understand their strengths and weaknesses, and works with them to get them to success. The class meets for 4 hours per day, 5 days a week in a clean, modern classroom. I found it to be a safe, welcoming, and diverse environment. Really important for me: Mrs. Becker not only has outstanding integrity and professional credentials, but also a sense of humor! An actual pharmacist, who is wonderfully approachable, experienced, and caring, Mrs. Baca, comes in to teach certain classes, and substitutes for Mrs. Becker when needed. Together, they make a great team. A broad range of subject matter is covered, for example, math, law, pharmacology, customer service, and "hands-on" preparation of prescriptions (using mock ingredients of course). The program enabled me to get my state Pharmacy Technician license AND earn a certificate in sterile compounding before I even graduated! If you complete the program, you'll definitely be a competitive candidate in the job marketplace.Charles Griffin

As a former student in PIMA's OTA program, I can say that the OTA students probably have the most fun out of all the programs! The campus is really nice and located next to alot of resturaunts, which made getting lunch easy. Since the campus is fairly new all the OTA equipment is new and in good condition. Additionally, OTA labs were always engaging and applicable when working with actual patients during FW. Classes were a bit fast-paced, however, this is an accelerated program. Additionally, all the instructors were amazing and have great experience within different areas of OT which stood out in their ability to teach certain subjects. They also went out of their way to ensure that every student was successful in this program, which I appreciated. Occupational therapy is an amazing career that is versatile and allows you to specialize in different areas such as neuro, pediatrics, geriatrics, orthopedics, etc. It is a rewarding career that challenges you as a practitioner to think outside the box to ensure the best health outcome for your patients while looking through a holistic lens. If this sounds like a career that you are interested in, I would definitely look into joining PIMA's OTA program.melanie chhea

Currently enrolled in the respiratory therapy program and have had a great experience so far. The instructors go above and beyond to make sure we have what we need, with constant check ins for students. Everyone is there to help, all you need to do is ask and there’s full transparency. I would recommend others to join in getting their healthcare career started. Notably we have instructors that know their stuff and not just that actually care about how we are learning. PROS: -Nearly all of courses are open enrollment, which makes it very easy to enroll. -There is a range of classes and many of them are offered both online and on campus. -The staff are very friendly and helpful. -The refunds department is very helpful. -Enrollment is easy to work with. -Certificate programs can be more applicable to real world than some undergrad degrees Neutral: -There is a clear distinction between UCLA and UCLA Extension. Cons: -No student ID cards are issued to extension students -Generally excluded from using library, recreational activities, some other resources that require a student ID. -You do not get a student email account -The extension parking permits are only usable after 4:30pm, so if you perhaps find yourself at the school to meet with your professor or student services earlier in the day, you will need to find another parking option. -The Data Science Intensive program is not worth the money. You will likely need to Google all your coursework and homework.Andrew Sein

I am extremely disheartened with the deterioration in student support services. Instead of passing the buck, pretending a request hasn't been received, asking for more steps to be taken, more hoops to be jumped, and employing diversion tactics, how about we all do our jobs and take accountability for our actions or lack thereof. Another problem is the staff doesn't stick. Students don't know whom to contact for any issues. One doesn't always want to bother the academic advisor or DSO. I do appreciate new initiatives. International students were thrown out of the country on July 6, 2020. We are dealing with the trauma of a disrupted life and demolished dreams. The new circumstances are not yet favorable for international students. I applaud the efforts of the school (UCLA Extension with UCLA) to help us cope in this regard even if some instructors don't get it.Rati Tripathi

UCLA Extension has shown themselves to be incredibly disappointing in how they support their students (they don't). With the recent administration ruling, which threatened international students' stay in the states, this institution has given students zero productive updates and guidelines. Nothing on their website. Nothing on their social media. They did not reach out to their students to show any solidarity in this very difficult and scary time. Avoid this place if you can especially if you're a student planning to study abroad. Just by their lack of response /especially/ during a time as difficult as this, they will not support you if anything else comes up. If you want to study Information Technology do yourself a favor and go to College of the Desert. Mayfield is a for profit cram them and jam them. The I.T. program is garbage and way outdated. You memorize one chapter a week and take a test Fridays. The “hands on learning” is non-existent. The “computer lab” is a complete joke and really just acts as an adult daycare because they do not give you any format to learn by. The lab “instructor” is a former student of Mayfeild and knows little more than you do. They teach absolutely nothing in the computer lab and most students sit there on social media to clock their hours. Mike Borja picks his favorite students and everyone else is treated as an annoyance to him. They sent me on a so called externship and demanded I log so many hours to graduate. The externship had absolutely nothing to do with learning computers, I did data entry for the HR department at the Desert AIDS Project. After one week I walked out because it was so obvious they were just using me for free labor. Go to College of the Desert. Mayfield is a scam. I must thank the Biden administration for saving me from paying for the mistake called Mayfield College.Kari Colvin

I used to attend Mayfield college in 2019 & was in their HVAC program. I was unfortunately never able to finish because I was t-boned on my way to school. The accident completely turned my life upside down. When I got in the accident they gave me time off of school until I was able to get my Drs approval for my return for the hands on. I forgot how much time they gave me but after many chiropractor, Dr, & physical therapy appointments I was FINALLY able to get her to say I was able to return but by then I had lost my apartment, my job, my car etc. & I had no way to go back & they basically said it was a "personal problem" & not their concern. My instructors Steve & Bill were absolutely incredible, informative & non biased which I absolutely appreciate. I have really great memories of my instructors & I only had 2 more classes so the loss is devastating. It's a wonderful program & I'd definitely take it but if life happens then just know it'll probably be a loss of money. It's very unfortunate. Also the woman that hit me was illegal & had no insurance so although the accident was declared not my fault I lost everything & my program was wasted.Lauren Gilder

Mayfield College, in my opinion, is the best college around. I started off taking classes to obtain my high school diploma. Sam, the teacher for that program was such a big help. I obtained my high school diploma within a month. I took the Medical Assistant course, starting off with Recquel Ruiz, finishing with Monica C. Each teacher has their own teaching techniques for the medical assistant program and they all have one goal in mind which is to see their students succeed and graduate. I must say, the staff, the program, and the atmosphere is phenomenal. I couldn't have asked for a better school to attend. The teachers actually take their time to help the students and care about the students succeeding. The school provides tutoring if needed as well. I have never seen such an amazing staff work so well together than the staff at Mayfield College. I am honored to be a 2018 graduate from there. I highly recommend this school program.Cara C

yesterday 7/27/2020 I officially graduated from Concorde college (MA PROGRAM) and all I can say is if you’re looking for a school to help you learn about the medical field Concorde is it. They have great teachers willing to help you as much as possible. They have a great computer lab, always open to help! The school is very well kept and cleaned! Staff also does little events here and there just to show appreciation to the students which I loved. The staff here are AMAZING! 2 staff I would really like to shout out are ARIANA HERTZ & MONICA CARLOS! Both of these woman helped me so much and went out their way to make sure i was doing great at Concorde. Security GEORGE was also such a great staff, he always would help as much as he can. But overall all staff is great, super helpful and super friendly. I felt so welcomed at Concorde as soon as I got there! So glad I came to this school because not only did I get an education but I made some wonderful friends here too. I LOVE CONCORDE💙! This review is overdue. But I wanted to wait until I had been working in my field a couple of years to review. I graduated in 2019 with my LVN, and I was able to obtain my license in January 2020. I was well prepared. Passed my nclex on the first try. But I studied and I followed the direction the instructors and staff recommended to get there. Sometimes it felt like they were dragging us through the ringer, when it came to assignments, tests, clinical etc. But it was well worth it. I started my job confident in all of the basic LVN skills. Vital signs, GT, wound care, interpersonal relationships etc. This school taught me so much about myself. If you are considering a career change; or a jump start to your career. I highly recommend. But don’t go here thinking it will be easy. You WILL have to put in the work. Also another tip, communication is key. Garden Grove Concorde is what you expect out of a school. I love this campus. I enrolled here in 2006 for the Respiratory Therapist program and graduated in 2008. During the program, they provided all the resources i needed to get through all my courses such as tutoring, 1 on 1 help, and most importantly the most friendliest, attentive staff from the front the front desk all the way to the top. i would like to mention someone who has help through my toughest times, Lynda Carlos. When i was having trouble with my application process she would go out of her way to help me. She was like this with every student and every one of my class mates love her. Honestly, I thought this college was the best fit for me. John Villasenor the Admissions Advisor is very understanding, knows how to answer your questions or concerns plus he keeps his promises too and I feel very comfortable speaking to him about anything. He really likes to see his future students be successful! The Financial Aid Officer Samantha Martinez is rather really stuck up! She was at first kind with a smile on her face and was concerned about my opinion on SJVC Hanford or neutral to me but then she changed her attitude with me since I forgot my parent loan paper at home. Little did I know that she was two faced towards me. The first time I was in her office, she explained to me that my mom didn't had to fill out much of the parent loan paper because of my mom's permanent residential status. The second time, she asked for my mom to sign it and she never acknowledged or ignored completely my mom's and little sibling's presence. I thought that disrespectful woman would speak directly to my mom about the financial plan for the career I was interested in but she never even bothered to! My mom told her "Hello" and she didn't even bothered acknowledging her greeting! She didn't offered them to take a seat or even greet them! SJVC should employ personnel with a more hospitality personality. I have never felt so unwanted in any college campus! I thought SJVC would have college personnel who are kind and understanding. Honestly the school procces was great teachers and all but my problem is I didn't past my first extern site but I wasnt aware I failed until 2 weeks later from the director or dean herself .. after trying to see if I can still get into extern on time from what I was told to find one til this certain day,like 1-2 weeks later I finally get told I was able to find a site after bugging a tiny bit ..but not even a week later it comes to find out I was terminated still since June 17th an I didnt get told nothing that I was and I thought this whole time I was okay but NOPE!! So I have to push back from my plans I had for my health and financial area and also I let go of job because I knew extern was gonna take most of my time..Im now broke and they obviously don't care I do wanna complain more but I won't I just wanna finish this and graduate with my friends,I can't now!!Destiny Martinez

My education and extern was good, Brooksley is amazing along with Mrs.Avina. My problem is with our graduation, even though it's online i still wanted to attend but the bookstore (where to order cap and gowns) wont let me in nor create a new password. Stockdale passed me on and then I got passed from fill in dean to fill in dean and now "Amy" wont even call me back after several left messages at front desk. My only option for pictures was to buy my own on amazon since I'm very proud of my academic career at SJVC. Majorly dissatisfied and disappointed it came to that. EDIT: They called me resolved the issue at hand I got my cap, gown, and cords. Happy to finally feel noticed by SJVC. This college is amazing and has been changing lives daily!!!! My relative recently went to extern where he was hired!!! He was a troubled person and did not care much about school or life. He was always into some trouble 🙁 Fact was probation forced him to attend some type of college yes he was a trouble maker. Well he did the Medical Assistant program and he had a few instructors. However his last instructor was Ms. Aundrea and let me tell you if you attend this college and program you want her. She truly cares about her students success and no matter what was there when needed she was there to help. She has a lot of patience and dedication to her students. She had many talks with my relative and really turned his view on life and college around, we all doubted him but now he works in Fallbrook and his whole life if changed. He is off the streets, has a great career in a busy clinic and can provide for his family. This meant so much to our family because when everyone doubted him including us as relatives Ms. Aundrea didn’t she never gave up on his education and for that she changed his life around. Uei college was VERY DISAPPOINTING, i am a veteran, i started the hvac program @ the school when it was uei san marcos, after a lengthy transitions to a new building, the issues continued from no air to no power to use certain equipment. The administration focuses more on things like BS ceremonies and attendance versus actual application and advancedment of its students. The class days were filled with goin over the same things because there was limited to what we could do or had access to during the school year. Then after graduation they thing students are graduating with all this experience and u leave with the same amount as if u never went there. After graduation they consistently call with bad leads and never actually helped me found employment had to do so on my own. Plz don't waste your time this school is focused on tuition and attendance so they can keep gettin funding from the stateOgBlkSayn 03

The school had NO placement for me to complete my extership. I was threatened to get dropped off the program if I didn’t find my own extership. During enrollment I was promised a place to complete my extership. To prevent being dropped off the program, I had to agree to do my internship at Jacob’s House. At Jacob’s house I had NO opportunity to do any office work but instead do housekeeping. This school is a scam!!!!!! My expectations were to be working at an office. I am so glad I chose to begin my education in health care by participating in the CNA course at International Health Group. My experience here has prepared me for my future in health care, taught me skills and knowledge to excel. Additionally, the instructors here are so amazing, our instructor made the class so fun by letting us be hands on and told us real world stories that we will never forget. I just completed the CNA course with Ms. Carla during this quarantine. Let me tell you, I had the most impeccable experience! Ms. Carla is the most kind, generous, honest, and caring instructor I’ve ever had — even surpassing my college professors. She always came to class with a bright spirit, and a warm smile (although we all wore masks, it was easy to recognize in her demeanor 🙂 ). She made the classroom a safe environment to talk about our studying & practicing concerns, practical life experience, and even how to handle our personal lives in general. I am so great full that I got stuck with such a fire-cracker of a teacher, and I will always remember her and my experiences with her as my embarkation to my nursing career. I went as a “shopper” looking for detailed care around enhanced blood lab work and was VERY happy with the free consultation information that I received. As an HMO insurance client I was very happy with the concept of the concierge concept to fill in what my HMO denies. I was treated thoughtfully and had all my questions answered. They really took the time to listen and understand my needs. Then, they text me with the requested information on costs for different lab tests I was interested in right away. I got an appointment right away, the receptionist was very friendly. On the day of my appointment I didn’t have to wait long to be seen, plus all staff was friendly as well. My doctor did not keep me waiting long and my checkup was done quickly and efficiently. At the end of my appointment I was given all information I needed and I also received an email to view everything that was discussed for me to see any time I needed. Ryan is amazing, he really listens and takes time to explain to medical issues that concern you. I have a complicated medical history that requires a number of specialists. Ryan helps me understand the specialists and the various diagnoses given. Ryan coordinates my care with those other doctors. Hi I’ve been going here for the past two months I came to this school because I was looking for a trade that could work well with my disability and I can not express enough how the barbering program here has helped me especially with the work of Ms.Antunez she is an amazing instructor really teaches everything hands on she goes the extra mile to cover things step by step and to also take personal time to teach each one of her students one on one in subjects they aren’t prevailing in I would recommend anyone looking for a great school and atmosphere to join to come here especially if you want to give barbering a tryUnique B

As of Oct 2022, the services are open for cosmetology, barbering, and esthetician!! For over 10 years I've been involved with the programs here and everyone is really great. They are very informative and helpful. The fact that studentscan get financed for their classes is so awesome. In 10 months you can be qualified to go into the workforce of your chosen profession! My daughter needed a sports physical exam and asked me to find a place where they could do it on the weekend (because she doesn't want to miss any of her classes). So I googled a place nearby and found this one…and it was great! I made my appointment online, it was quick and easy. I arrived on Sunday for the appointment, no waiting.
