20 Best Mba Programs In San Francisco, CA (2022 Updated)

I'm a male, late 20's student at USF, and this has been my experience: 1) Rigorous – Having had a decent amount of life experience before coming here, I expected it to be easy. I was wrong. As someone who has always been good at math, the math classes were all challenging and required a lot of time and effort to do well in. The same goes for their science classes. I had attended another, easier university before coming here, and the difference was huge. 2) Political/Religious – Being a catholic university in the middle of a very liberal city, there is a good chance that someone will at some point try to shove religion or liberal politics down your throat, with a higher probability of the latter. As someone who doesn't care for politics, I'd prefer if they were left out of the classroom. 3) Small class sizes – All but one of my classes have been under 30 people, with many being less than 20. There are personal, 1-on-1 classes for music lessons in guitar, piano, vocals, etc. There are ample staff to handle any problem and any and all issues I've had were solved quickly. Compare this to a state school with class sizes in the 100's and there is really no comparison. 4) Expensive – With an annual price tag of about 50k, plus the astronomically high San Francisco cost of living, it is incredibly expensive to go to school here. I came here largely because I had a full-ride scholarship, and would have seriously considered other options if I didn't. 5) Amenities – There are several large libraries, excellent quiet study areas, private music rooms with instruments, and the campus itself is quite beautiful. With the tuition comes a free public transit card and gym access, at a very nice gym. 6) Overall quality – The quality of the school overall is very high. I can't say how it compares to the likes of top schools like Stanford, but many of USF's professors have come from those big name schools. The combination of talented, intelligent professors and personal 1-on-1 attention make it a great place to learn and study.Tyler D

I transferred out of the University of San Francisco real quick. The school is expensive, the education is ok but the material is too easy, and the social life is garbage unless you're undoubtedly liberal. The professors were very nice and helpful, but anyone from the administration building is out to get you, ultimately this place is just a big money pit. They'll find a way to fine you and take your money even if you haven't done anything wrong.Alex Douthat

Beautiful campus in the heart of the city but otherwise, a school filled with professors that don’t really care, poor accommodations for students with disabilities, extremely expensive, campus police focuses more on giving you parking tickets and people’s conduct rather than ensuring vehicles are not broken into. If I could give them a minus star, I would be happy to do that. Do not waste your time nor your money, this so called "art school" is good for nothing. From teachers to admins, everything is a constant unpleasant situation to deal with. Teachers really DO NOT TEACH anything, students have to find out and learn everything mostly by themselves; teachers are stuck up, they thing they are the biggest deal and that the students are nothing unless they get to have a favorite one. None of the students here study and work, most of them come from rich families that pay for them to do "something in life" and that something will certainly be nothing because hardly one gets to have a decent, paying job after being ripped off for years. For rich people this is certainly not important but not for poor or middle class people that want to advance in life and make big efforts to get loans and on top of that pay monthly tuition. We ended up investing about $85,000 for a basically useless degree. They break their student's spirit, they belittle, ignore, degrade them; make them feel they are not entitled to any success if they are not the star of the class. My child worked extremely, extremely hard to try to make his dream come true but ended up completely sick and hopeless. Lastly, teachers steal student's ideas and nothing you can do about it because they have students sign an agreement before beginning of classes. First they tell them that those ideas are worthless, of course. Look for better options. California is full of excellent and transparent schools, colleges and universities let CCA out, it isn't worth it !!!Gabriela Saez

This is a soulless school, with excellent faculty sprinkled occasionally throughout. They present a great and forward thinking image on the outside, and on the inside try to cheat students and faculty alike. Their first priority is outside appearance, and one of their last is the students. Trying to get things fixed here when they inevitably screw up your schedule or take away your scholarship or any number of other things mid-semester is like going to the DMV, if the DMV was worse than it already is and charged you $30-45 thousand a year. This is a greedy institution so disorganized their financial aid documents even say "Please return to the Financial Aid Office by 12/31/1967." Well when I went there it was known as Rock ridge elementary School LOL and then it changed to arts magnet elementary School and that's when it became divided and kindergarteners were going to the same classes as the high school and college students which was actually really cool I met a lot of good friends and learned a lot of neat stuff education should not only be free but you should be able to learn what you want to learn which is what I enjoyed the most by going to classes with older students and being treated as an equalum bad at shuk nac tic

Really wonderful school with flexible hybrid programming enabled me to attain my MBA while working & traveling from the east coast. Faculty is amazing, classes are engaging & teach sustainability and team building. PGS definitely prepares you for a career in sustainability and challenges you to question the systems at play. They try to do a good job. Their structure is nice, professors are nice and they are professional. The problem is they accept anyone. No TOEFL required. No experience required. No previous school background check. They will make sure to get your money. And plus, they are a formal education stuck in the Microsoft Office time, inside a city of entrepreneurs who are most developers where the rule is: break the paradigm, create innovation.Hult is not the place to create innovation, you will see that on other places in San Francisco. If you chose San Francisco because you want to be an entrepreneur, there are other places for you like Extension Programs from Stanford, Berkeley or even the BootCamps around downtown. I guess the school will be a great resource of knowledge and experience for young students with little experience, but it can get frustrating for the most experienced ones. My feeling for this school is: they are having hard time finding students although they are a good business school (formal education wise – if you are signing in with the goal of getting a regular job later.)FA

Hult Intl. Business School is an authoritarian capitalist echo chamber of a bunch of entitled rich students who couldn’t get into other business schools in the US that are actually reputable. I cannot express how much I deeply hated my time at Hult. So so so many red flags came out of this school— them requiring my passport as a US citizen, forcing us to scan our biometrics (fingerprints) to enter classrooms, questionable staff credentials, $30,000 tuition after financial aid, and “scholarships” that seem like ways of selling students to the school. Had to pay $2100/month for housing in a room with only a half wall (couldn’t sleep due to everyone partying). Screamed at in my face by Dr. Anthony Turner of BUS 101 for things I didn’t even do. Save yourself the trouble of regretting $30,000 like I did and DO NOT GO TO HULT Many have been asking me to make a video on Hult. I think I will one day.Nate Bailey

A great honor to be a student at this amazing business school! I am currently enrolled in the BBA program. Every day I interact with people from all around the world, and it's just amazing to know that after these years of study, no matter where you are in the world, you will always have friends nearby. Walking around in the San Francisco campus is like walking around in an incredibly modern and innovative business environment. Most of the professors are really hands-on practitioners and current or previous business executives, which makes the courses a lot more practical than in most other institutions. Another amazing thing about Hult is that the faculty and executive leadership actually listens very carefully to both the students thoughts and the thoughts of potential employers, and that way the program is continuously improved. Stanford Hospital has been an amazing medical facility for decades. Attracting brilliant positions treating everything from Orthopedic to oncology. I have been fortunate to find pulmonary specialist, cardiologists, orthopedic surgeons that specialize in the unique ability to diagnose and provide aid where others have given up for the last six years my health has improved immensely. Very meaningful experience – strong academics, with high work load, as you would expect from a top tier EMBA program. You should expect to have your days stretched as you juggle work, family and school commitments. My class was full of thoughtful and accomplished individuals across a wide range of functions. Berkeley-Haas is known for tech, but that did not mean that my cohort was overly tech focused. Median age was in the late 30's, spanning 30 to a little over 50 (I believe). Lots of real life experience in this group that made the classroom experience very interactive and much deeper as a result. At a programmatic level, the immersion weeks were excellent – Silicon Valley Immersion provides a total inside view on the valley, startup culture and access to founders and funders with the superb Toby Stuart. Our international immersion focused on emerging markets in Brazil ranging from sports marketing (run up to the Olympics) to entrepreneurship and great access to folks from Google Brazil's CEO to BNDES to individuals running startup accelerators etc. Washington DC was a tour de force with Laura Tyson – amazing access to policy makers, lobbyists, staffers etc (won't name drop here, but suffice to say the Berkeley network really opened doors). The academic foundations were great and provide a very solid business school education. Two threads emerged of particular note. The first is leadership – Berkeley-Haas lives by its defining principles and encourages a rigorous evaluation of one's own capabilities and challenges, starting with the Leadership Communications immersion with Mark Rittenburg, the Leading People course with Dana Carney, Trust Based Relationships with Rajiv Ball and the excellent Exec Leadership course taught by Jenny Chatman. It's something of a hidden strength for Haas. The second if entrepreneurship and new venture funding. Between Toby Stuart and the excellent Maura O'Neill who teaches wildly popular electives on new venture finance students get an A-grade exposure to what it means to be an entrepreneur, and through face time, lectures, field-immersions, role play, case work etc, etc. it's possible to really gain a deeper dive into what it takes to build a successful startup. I came into the program as an "advancer" – ie. staying with in my field looking to further my career by building in formal business training. I achieved that goal with room to spare, more interestingly though I came out feeling very interested in the possibility of leading my own company. It's a bit of a cliche, but I can't think of a better word – it's a transformative experience. Advice for future applicants is pay attention to the defining principles, they really do mean a lot at Berkeley-Haas. If you find those meaningful, Berkeley-Haas can be an amazing fit. Dean Rich Lyons is a phenomenal leader for the school and he has successfully enshrined an underlying culture that feels quite different to other schools. I can't think of a better place to help you become the best "you" possible.Jefri Tamba

Great feeling to be at the place … revered by many in business communities.. one of the best business schools in usa and in the world . Our 11 month long certificate of excellence program brought me here for 2 one week sessions back in 2014-16. Loved this place . Wish I could visit this place more often .. best of the best become faculty and best of the best become students here .. amazing place.. Program was unique . Faculty were friendly . Did things simply .. explained most difficult part with such ease and then there was a meeting with dean of the college . Such amazing energy . 👍🌷👌 Beyond the program study .. friends one makes during attending programs is unquestionably and friendship of like minded friends will carry on for life long . Program is expensive .. yes .. one may argue about tangible benefits of this program but then … if desire is strong to touch excellence and not able to get wrong during your life while studying … this could be excellence program to attend to .. certain work experience is needed . Certain recommendations are needed to embark this bone but not tough. No GRE , no TOeFL, no ILETS, there Are certain assurances for better jobs after this program but then … there is no follow through ✍️✍️💐💐 Overall good program to go through provided there is strong will to pursue it. Such a beautiful campus and one of the newest buildings in Berkeley. These buildings produce 0 carbon emissions and instead use solar panels to generate energy. Bathrooms were a little dirty and stinky but overall it looked like a pleasant environment where students were being respectful and exchanging ideas. The closest parking lot is the Stadium parking as it is right across the street so I imagine it gets pretty busy on game nights. Very nice place to visit with lots of history. Highly recommend to any prospective UC Berkeley student.Jazmin Garcia

Review is an outsider's view of the campus. I recently visited USF on an informal walking tour. I was immediately struck by how beautiful the campus was and the surrounding neighborhood very nice (I had no idea!) There are some really gorgeous structures on campus and it's located in the middle of a neighborhood, but doesn't overwhelm it, nor detract from it. When I visited, it was very warm and there were lots of students enjoying the outdoors. I was particularly glad to see an ethnically diverse student population, not something you always find at other universities. In all, USF is an impressive looking school – small, urban and clean. I was lied to by doctors there I was told by Dr. Hakimi "Even if I wanted to I cannot refer you dermatology cannot refer to infectous disease".That's a lie.And when a doctor Dr.Wei comes in and splits your hair apart looks says " I don't see anything" is she trying to insult my intellegence? What were dealing with is microscopic. I have lab findings of nematode in my gut and in my well water. Yet I was sent to a specialist whom did not even look at my labs. Went by my age and that I'm a female that that's when morgellons usually hits a person for some reason females at my age. Offers Risperdal or abilify without looking at my labs. I sent my case to a teaching hospital in Pakastani and they agree parasite. They deal with this stuff Dailey in other countries. My regular dermatologist whom refered me to ucsf is now trying to refer me to UC Davis infectous disease. It's sad because I had such high hopes for ucsf. My primary tried to get me to Stanford infectous disease but my insurance didn't cover it. I think morgellons is a serious disease. And if a person is going to be labeled with it than lab work should be done and lab work should be looked at. Not a dx by a person's sex and age. It's pt neglect and is the doctor working for a drug company or the pt? Apparently the drug company in this case. I am saddened deeply because I had high high hopes for ucsf.Sabrina Cesena

UCSF is absolutely amazing! From my very first stay here to my very last brain surgery. All the staff are wonderful and very caring for their patient's. Dr. Edward Chang and his entire team saved my life. On July 12 I had an Anterior temporal lobectomy on my right side. I am today 42 days seizure free!!! I may have epilepsy, but it doesn't have me. If you have epilepsy, don't give up! Get a second opinion. Be seen at UCSF. I am beyond thankful for my wonderful Neurosurgeon Dr. Edward Chang. He is not only brilliant, but very caring as well. pretty bad. I had testic issues and they basically said, you’re hurting, but we don’t know why… now you’re going to be discharged. Everything is still the same. I don’t go to the hospital often. Is this how it works?! If they don’t know they just pass you on????!!! At least radiologist was very friendly but they rushed to get me out. Maybe bc of military coverage. I completed my doctorate at GGU and it was an incredibly rewarding experience. I was first drawn to the program because it was the only fully-accredited doctorate in finance in the Bay Area that could be pursued part-time by someone who also had a career. The experience proved to be so much more than that, however.. The full-time faculty who run the program are passionate about what they do, offering students the opportunity to engage in significant personal growth and deep learning. The faculty are also well suited to GGU's mission, combining, as they do, first class academic credentials with significant leadership experience in the "real world." There are two distinct phases to doctoral study and GGU's program delivers the best of both. The first phase is focused on core doctoral seminars that provide the tools and conceptual framework for understanding and conducting formal research. It was here that I came to fully appreciate the nature of the academic enterprise and begin to master the tools and techniques for its pursuit. The second phase involves the development of a research question that will result (if you're sufficiently diligent) in the production of a formal dissertation. This is the apprenticeship phase, where you work closely with your dissertation committee and, most especially, your chair. My own committee chair, Paul Fouts, was at once both guide and mentor, sending me back again-and-again to reexamine my sources, rewrite my proposals, and revisit the evidence. Each time, my dissertation got better. In the end, I was able to produce work that I believe will have a real impact on my profession. The doctoral program is probably the smallest part of what GGU does, but it represents the best of the University's mission and values. Beyond that, I can heartily recommend GGU to anyone who seeks to improve their skills and advance their career through any any of the University's many degree and certificate programs.Dave Yeske

My time here was slightly disappointed. First, the school's credentials aren't as well recognized compared to the other schools in the area, so many students have a hard time getting a job compared to students from other schools. Second, the school says they offer help to get students job, but all they do is review your resume and have you go out and find your own opportunities. Third, the counselors I had for business, kept mixing me up with other students and when it came time to discuss a problem, she'd forget the issue. She also told me I didn't need a class and then said I did. After taking the class, I found out I really didn't have to and wasted an entire semester with this school. Fourth, the resources may seem like alot at first, but the truth is, what really matters are resources for certifications. They don't have many resources that'll help and do not offer certifications for most programs. Fifth, the teachers and systems aren't as reliable. I find that some professors don't like it when you have questions. Some make you go to class to listen to the lecture and then still make you do an entire online course (might as well do online only). Some have a power trip and would make excuses for being late on grading or make "adjustments" to their grading on the syllabus after class is finished, messing up your entire semester. Most teachers are never up to date on their online courses. They either don't fix the dates for due dates or they don't open the assignments or just not clear on their direction. Sixth, there are a lot of students that are international here that get discriminated against. It's very disheartening when they have to report that their teachers are saying rude remarks or making jokes about anyone of color. Bottom line is, I regret coming here. While there were some great teachers, there weren't enough to count past one hand. Don't make the same mistake as I did. Get your money's worth elsewhere.K Y

WASTE OF TIME, EFFORTS, MONEY TO ORDER OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS, AND FRUSTRATIONS 0 STAR IF THERE IS AN OPTION, if I know that I have to go through all of this for nothing, I should listen to my people around me to take the Contra Costa College for my Fall semester 2017. It is just 7 minutes drive from my home and I don't have to deal with too many unnecessary things from other schools. The only thing I disliked about CCC was the tuition is too low that I will not get much from the tax return. The BAH in my area is 3500 compared with 4200 BAH in San Francisco, which is fair overall based on a lot of factors. If I can change my mind, I would go for my first option in the first place instead of wasting my time, efforts, money, and frustrations for some other schools that did not take me anywhere. On Monday August 28, I have received the email from GGU with the subject "GGU will support you all the way – from start to graduation!" To be honest, I was almost laughed my stomach out. If GGU will support me all the way, why did they require too many unnecessary things in the first place. Just let me take some classes first, then I will submit other less important things later, but that is not how GGU wanted. That is the best support I get from GGU all the way – from start to graduation. THANKS FOR THE WARNING! That is the best email Subject I have ever received from GGU, and it came on the day that the School Starts, but I was unable to start school. I am so excited to tell you that I would like to continue my education……………somewhere else.Louis Pham

I was really excited to attend but overall it wasn’t much different than community college at least for Gen ed. my excitement peaked week 4 and by week 11 of the semester I realized what was ahead of me and how the school is kind of a crazy mess. Having ethnic studies tie their bodies to the Muni tracks and an on campus anti abortion protest with bloody pictures was definitely a bit much And not made better by the pleasant Marchant booths the fallowing week. My department I’ve heard is basically a mess though unfortunately. My CC was state if the art and this place has some buildings that are authentically 1950’s and untouched it’s kind of scary so I try not to think about earthquakes given that Fine Arts, the library and Humanities are probably the safest buildings on campus. It feels impossible and hopeless here because almost nobody lives near campus and everyone commutes so it always feels dead. This factor makes it very hard to feel/get connected on campus to any degree and make friends. Don’t get fooled by impacted programs it doesn’t exactly mean they are “good” it just means the school is cheap and hasn’t built new buildings like it probably should have(Cinema, science and kin departments that’s you!). Go here if they have a good program for your major that’s what’s important, not location, student life etc.Alex Merenkov

I knew people who loved it at SFSU and knew people who hated it here. Personally, I had a great experience at SF State. Obviously a negative experience was having to go online due to covid in my third year but I was still able to have a good experience here overall for undergrad. I wouldn't trade my time and memories here for anything and I'm thankful for all the opportunities SF State was able to offer me and the friends I made along the way. The commencement speaker sounded like a political campaign. This is a great building right smack dab in the middle of FiDi/SOMA. It's very easy to get to as it's right along the Embarcadero. It's also in the same building complex as Google San Francisco. The rooms in this Wharton building remind me of Huntsman Hall in Philadelphia. Very open, great views of the Bay Bridge, and very modern. They host a lot of MBA executive programs here so that would speak to why it's so well kept. There's a very convenient garage under the building that makes parking easy.Sally Ivester

They offer a good variety of coursework. I've taken a few classes here and the teachers have all been really good! They cater to people working and provide classes at night and some on the weekend. The campus's location is right next to westfield mall so it's easy to get to from Powell BART. Prices are reasonable and about half compared to Berkeley's extension classes.Alice Jou
