I have had an amazing experience with Herzing University! I am excelling in my degree choice and I couldn't be more satisfied with my learning experience and the flexibility that the online program gives me.The instructors are all willing to help whenever I have a question, and if they see many students struggling with something, they will post an announcement with some helpful tips on how to proceed through our courses. The learning material is easy to understand, the discussion boards really help me connect with my classmates more than I normally would, the library is full of everything you might need for your studies, and the Coach rooms and Tutoring center are very helpful! I have seen many posts off and on about how students struggled in this school. I have to say the most common thing I see students struggling from in these courses is not doing the assigned work on time, not participating in the discussions, and not following the assigned directions on assignments. We have to take responsibility and do our work (on time!) or we will not succeed, and we should not blame someone else for our lack of trying. Just with everything else in life, if you do not put any effort into something, you will not gain anything from it. I stared with Herzing back in 2013 for my undergrad BSN RN. At that time, school was still establishing itself, therefore, I had some rough time getting through the program, but overall my experience was good. This year I came back for my MSN FNP and let me tell you ))) My experience with Herzing in 2019 is absolutely amazing. This school grew so much! Lots of support, any time you need it, everyone is very attentive and friendly. You still have to do a lots of studying, but isn't what we came here for? My wife WAS TRULY UNSATISFIED HERE!! Listen, if you have a family to support, this is NOT the college for you. They changed things so many times DURING the program that added fees to your bill without you knowing until you got ready to register. POORLY UNORGANIZED!! The only great thing my wife talked about was her Pathophysiology teacher Julie L. She actually wanted students to pass and made every effort to help them!! My wife TAUGHT HERSELF IN HEALTH ASSESSMENT!! This is crazy!! The teacher acted like she didn’t know how to teach the class or the lab! They had to eventually adjust grades because students started dropping like flies! If you decide to go here ask about the hidden fees which they don’t tell you about until the first week of classes! Stay way, trust me, I watched my wife fall asleep trying to study off a study guide for health assessment which DID NOT HELP HER!! The study guide should have said just study everything! For those who are reading this and thinking she had a rough start, my wife is certified as a phlebotomist, and medical assistant, works in a hospital, and has been in healthcare for 18 years! This is honestly the worst run institution I have ever attended. Classes are a joke lacking rigor or even consistency. Financial aid just randomly accepted loans on my behalf without me knowing. I am in my sixth week taking online courses at MATC. I have chosen the IT Support Associate Degree program, for two reasons: One the program is only two years, I’ll be able to launch into the job market faster, and because IT is such a diverse, and fast growing career path, I know I will find a fit into the IT world upon graduation. I chose MATC because MATC is convenient and conventional. I can take classes online, at my own pace, and be on campus for the classes I need more focus and dedication to. This IT program combined with my 10 plus years customer service experience, I know I will be able to reach any career goal I set. Now, while my interest in computers and knack for problem solving I know this career path will be suitable for me, however, to any prospective student looking for a quick money type of career, this program is not for you. This program consists of lots of physical and mental work, also taking consideration of the customers you are serving. If a prospective student welcomes challenges and is comfortable with asking questions and not feeling intimidated by the mass amount of information you will retain then this is a program for you. Prospective students should also be aware that they don’t have to work or figure stuff out alone, one of my favorite accommodations is having access to tutoring, whether online or in person- at all campuses. Fellow future students should also know that acquiring their degree at MATC is a smart money move, students can save thousands of dollars getting their education here, as opposed to a four year college/university. Information Technology is very informative program. This program breaks down a lot of things that can happen with computer systems. It is a to-date program. I choose this program because I want to go more in depth with technology. Everyone uses technology every day. I would like to be able to assist those who are not tech savvy. MATC I.T support program has a great path program. Pathway allows you get a few certificates take a break and come back for your diploma. Completing this program will give the knowledge and skill I need to become an I.T professional. Instructors are very helpful. Staff is friendly. My experience in MATC IT Computer Support Specialist program is limited but good so far. I chose to pursue this degree because it lines up well with my current work experience and career goals. So far, I have been able to take all my classes online with no scheduled class times, so I can complete assignments at my own pace without interfering with my work schedule. Another thing this program does well, is that it offers options to achieve many different certifications on your way to a degree. I decided to transfer. Minimal funding for the humanities, so if your want to major in English, philosophy, history, etc maybe consider transferring for the sake of your education. I'm not exaggerating either- some of the adjuncts who work here have even told me to do this. The student body and some of the staff are incredibly arrogant, rude, and competitive. You will be stereotyped based off of where you come from- especially if you are from Illinois. I found that the people here don't try and get to know you for who you really are, even considering the fact that both you and them ended up at the same university. When I told my advisor I was planning on transferring, he scoffed and told me "Transfer wherever the h*** you want, my commission won't be affected" and then proceeded to tell me he had no clue how the transfer process worked, scoffed at me again, and told me "good luck". The dorm food is low quality, and to eat healthy you basically have to risk your life by crossing an on-ramp to the highway to get to Straz aka the dorm with the healthy food. There isn't much to do in the college town, and Milwaukee is a lot further away and more unsafe to get to than how the brochures portray it.Audrey Gordon

Marquette offers a great college experience and a fantastic education for well rounded young adults. Marquette is located in a fun city that is going through a healthy revival with a large community of people under 40 deciding to live in the city instead the the burbs. It's a Jesuit school, so the school and students are more conservative than public land-grant universities. We were impressed with the indications of community service, tolerance, and good works that we observed practically everywhere we looked. It was the only school we saw that had postings on their student boards for volunteer work and community service. Marquette also offers deep academic resources. I just graduated in May 2014, I could not be more grateful for the experience Marquette provided me over the last 4 years. It contains the great campus community of a large school while having the city of Milwaukee in walking distance for an endless amount of activities for weekends. The graduation and job rates are over 50% greater for MU grads compared to many of the local in-state schools, it's well worth the money. This might be a great institution for you if you do not have the following: -any impairment mentally, physically, or emotionally that professors can view as "at risk" for any future clientele -if you worry that any personal hardship (such as personal trauma, including any diagnosis formed from that experience) will be used against you in evaluation to be later dismissed from the program -if you want to openly and constructively have opposing views of the professor's perspective on material -if you display any physical, mental, and emotional characteristics that diverge from the norm (race, disability, etc) -if you want the American Disability Association regulations to be properly enforced compared to public and technical colleges -if you want a whole staff of people versus only one person to help you in disability accommodations -if you are one to choose not drop out after the first week and do not want 0% of your payments to be returned -want to have the ability to effectively transfer credits from this institution to another college if things don't work out -if you do not want to give absolute control to the faculty to dismiss you for personal reasons outside of your schoolwork -if you are afraid of the change in advisors changing the requirements to make seniors not be able to graduate as readily -If you are not ok with the idea of student evaluations of a professor going only to that professor to be seen, even if they are someone who isn’t effective amongst the workplace -are uncomfortable with the idea that if you are a student chosen to be possibly dismissed, to be given documents that are made to not be valid for a lawsuit if unfairly treated -if you want your degree to transfer outside of the Mount Mary system, this is not possible in any way Regardless of how pretty it looks like on the outside, does not mean there are not issues amongst the inside. Mount Mary University is amazing university and the campus is very beautiful too. The staffs and professors are great and serious about your major. There are lots of resources that are available to anyone. If you don't know what you want to major, they will help you..etc.. I encourage you to attend this school if you looking for college. I come here every now and again to visit my friend. It's a pretty easy process. The dorm uses keys still, and each floor is locked. So if you're looking for security, Mount Mary is pretty good. But the first floor is the only floor with men's bathrooms (in the dorms), which is the only downside.Eric Hupf (tkoalas)

‼️‼️Long post – Alverno College is pocketing student's REFUNDABLE $100 tuition deposits ‼️‼️ Back in January I was accepted into a graduate program at Alverno College in Milwaukee. After being accepted I was urged to put down $100 as a tuition deposit to "hold my spot" because spaces were very limited. Excited to start this program, I eagerly put the money down the day I found out I was accepted. I couldn't enroll in classes until I was awarded financial aid. I submitted my FAFSA file to them when I applied and was waiting for Alverno's financial aid department to let me know what I was awarded. The total cost of the program is roughly $52,000. I was only awarded $20,500 (my credit isn't good enough for personal loans and I have absolutely no one to co-sign for me). Like most people, I could not afford to pay for the rest of the program out of pocket and had no choice but to tell Alverno I couldn't attend. Last week I realized that they never refunded my $100 that was meant to go towards my tuition. They emailed me back saying the $100 is nonrefundable, and that it was stated as such on my acceptance letter. That much is true, it DOES say the fee is non refundable on my acceptance letter. Out of curiosity, I looked at the Admission Policies on their website and it states that $100 tuition deposits ARE refundable until May 1st. The DEMSN program guide states that the $100 goes towards a student's first semester tuition. If I never had the chance to start the program, where did this money go? And how many other students have they done this to? I spoke with the Enrollment Director of the DEMSN program (Sean Walker) and he did nothing but argue with me on the phone, cutting me off and comparing my situation to the time he "put down $500 on an apartment and decided not to take it". I told Sean that it's INSANE that this college is taking students money AT ALL, let alone in the midst of a global pandemic. His response was "there was no pandemic when you applied." I've accepted that I probably won't see my money again, but people need to know about their shady business practices and how little they care about their hard working students that are giving EVERYTHING they have to make a better life for themselves. These are NOT Christian values and I'm so sick of big companies stepping on the little guys.Monet Padilla

I will be as blunt and honest as possible. The business office/financial aid office has absolutely the worse kind of people. The women in this office are super rude to you and even when they make mistakes on their end regarding payments…they still don't apologize!! They make you feel like a criminal standing in there being accused of not paying, when payments are made in advance! Oh and when they are proven wrong…all they have to say is, oh this is taken care of now..TERRIBLE. TERRIBLE. TERRIBLE. You would think with the amount of money they make on students tuitions that they would get their business office together. Just get it together Alverno..your students are not your enemies. In fact, your students are why you even exist. Also they don't transfer credits, so you are either there until you graduate or just threw away a boat load of money.Christina

Don't waste your time here. Their nursing program is a joke. Half the time you are teaching yourself yet paying thousands of dollars. The professors make up their own rules as they please and don't follow their own syllabus. They are constantly changing their rules and criteria, they will not tell you the changes until you meet with your advisor about something. Nothing transfers to other schools so be sure you are going to finish here if you plan on attending. I would never recommend this school to anyone. They don't value you as a student. They screw you over. Definitely look elsewhere!!! Don't waste your money or time. I've done enough of that for all of us.Crystal

The student union has always been a special place filled with activity, information, electricity and fun. I'm writing this during covid-19 and the union has transformed into a community location for testing and vaccination. It is truly amazing how well set up it is. I'm really proud of the people who put this together. There is signage everywhere so it's impossible to get lost. The system is put together nearly flawlessly. It's fast and efficient but everyone putting their efforts into keeping us safe, all those amazing people working towards this effort are kind, thoughtful, and willing to answer your questions and make sure you're comfortable and safe. This is a truly amazing operation on all fronts and I congratulate the University, the AWESOME staff, and the innovators who were able to put this together for the good of our community, our state, and our country. I have a lot of Milwaukee Pride and love going to school in my home but I have had many problems with the Advising staff. My current Advisor in the Education Department is wonderful and extremely helpful but the Advisor I had prior to her was horrid. She knew nothing and every time I asked a question she would hand me literature to read myself. Zero help and ended up in the wrong major because of it. Otherwise the school is great and I really do enjoy it. I just run into staff that are bad at their jobs sometimes. My advise is just make sure your advisors know what they are talking about so you don’t waste time and money.Travis Sternhagen

I attended UWM for my Masters in Civil Engineering. I've only good things to say about the school. Wonderful professors. Quality of education at least in my department is good. I took one course from Geosciences department and Prof Timothy Grundl was my instructor. He is awesome! If some students felt, they did not get enough help financially from university, I can understand that as the school went through severe budget cut during 2016-18 period, when I went to school. I'm an alumni of MSOE's class of '17 with a BS degree in Software Engineering. This school is not for everyone. The courses are very difficult and there is no such thing as an easy A. The grading scale has higher expectations that normal colleges. Students are expected to put a lot of time and effort into their course work. That being said, MSOE is well known for the their high job placement ratings in the graduate's degree of study and the quality of their graduates. Their facilities are not the latest and greatest, but they make sure that you are knowledgeable in your field of study. Every year, MSOE will hold a career fair in the fall to help students connect with potential employers for summer internships in addition to part-time and full time jobs. This is great practice for students for networking. This was also one of the factors that helped me get an internship my freshman year. For potential students, I would recommend making sure that you are confident in your choice of study. Unlike most public colleges, you must declare your major before you start your college career. It can be very difficult and expensive to switch tracks once you've started your degree. The switch from Computer Engineering to Software Engineering is not too difficult since the tracks start off very similar in the beginning. However if will be a challenge to switch from Biomedical Engineering to Mechanical Engineering. One last note I would like to make is that I have found all of the staff to be very professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. To mention a few this includes, the Software Engineering Department, Math Department, Science Department, Humanities Department and Career Services Department.Erin Heinz

UWM nursing program is garbage. Their facilities are outdated. The supplies are lacking (where does the tuition go?). They may lose there accreditation soon if they can't get their NCLEX passing rate up. Because of this they are changing up the program which is creating extreme disorganization causing students to be treated as Guinea pigs. Strongly advise against applying to this program. You'd get better facilities and supplies from wctc, too bad they dont have a 4 year RN program.Mitchell Neira

I love my school and the college of nursing. I am a second-semester nursing student and I feel as though I made the right decision in choosing UWM college of nursing. This is definitely the right fit for me. My professors and clinical instructors are awesome.
