I had an amazing experience at Booth. The program and culture live up to the mantras of "Challenge everything" and "Independent thought" in my experience. Personally, I was drawn to the fact that there is no one path at Booth — you're not forced into a cohort, you're not told which classes you have to take, you're not assigned to study teams and instead, you have the freedom to chart your own course (within some guidelines of course!) and you gain much wider exposure (e.g., taking classes with 2nd years). Looking back, the LEAD course was extremely helpful and I apply those lessons about leadership and self-awareness everyday now. The student culture is very strong (and different than what many perceive) — it's a bit different from other schools where there's a concentrated campus that everyone lives near and again, things aren't dictated for you. I was incredibly impressed by my classmates — not just their intelligence and career drive but also their passion for traveling and experiencing the city of Chicago. I did not find it to be competitive at all – I think because of the grade non-disclosure but also in recruiting, I had so much help from my classmates. A bit about my experience: I was a career changer. I worked in HR before and worked in consulting afterwards (boutique/startup firm in Chicago). My course specializations were Strategy, Economics, and Marketing. I was very involved with the Admissions team while there, serving on the student adcom, leading tours, planning admit weekend, etc. I also loved the Business Solutions Group where I worked on a pro-bono consulting project for a non-profit education company. I lived in Hyde Park (rare for Booth students, but I loved it). My advice to future applicants: engage with the Booth community as much as possible. Visit campus, sit in on a class, talk to students and alums, connect with the alumni group in your closest city. I have been a student of DePaul University – Law College since 2019. Before joining DePaul I was contemplating between DePaul and other Universities, I am so happy I made the right choice to join DePaul. Not only is it a prestigious University with many famous alumni names, but also because it is a University that has made the list of the top best Universities for many years. Depaul has the best facility you can hope to study under, the administration are very helpful and my advisor, is one of the best, always available whenever I needed assistance, guidance or help. If you are a graduate of DePaul, you can be sure that employers will want to add you to their staff. Being part of DePaul, is being part of a large educational family. There are two campuses, the main one is located in Lincoln Park and the other one is located in the Loop, right in the heart of the business hub, if you are attending College of Law or College of Business. There are two huge libraries in the Loop campus, with access to Starbucks, as well as to, Barnes and Nobles. In both Colleges you have cafeterias amd study lounges. There is a Toastmasters club at DePaul and many other groups and clubs to join. Also, DePaul offers a help center, fpr students who may need extra help with certain classes, as well as, a writing center for whenever you need your essays reviewed, with feedback and assistance in improving it before submission. With all of the above and more, I could not possibly list all of the things DePaul os known for, or offers, but I can tell you one thing, if you happen to choose DePaul and become accepted, be sure you are part of the many successful people who will graduate with pride. You can be a full fledged patriotic American, but just because your parents travel and you may have a foreign transcript (from high school/ middle school) you are deemed an international student. To add insult to injury this particular issue entailed the student already having graduated from a neighboring community college. Yet still, they are deemed international. An obvious protocol set in place to guzzle money out of the student. Wasn’t even thrilled about their level of academics to begin with, so not having this school as an option isn’t a loss in the slightest for our family. The Highlight was the introduction of the Main Speakers The New Era Young Lord's. Also some Associates and Friends from there Early Year's. The Bomba group provided good Entertainment and a Festive Atmosphere. In the Middle Sixties you could count the Minorities attending DePaul. The all played on the Basketball team. This review is purely based on my experiences and what I witnessed. If you are planning on attending this “institution” in the pursuit of an education degree, then this is a great place for that, otherwise pay a little more and go to either Loyola, NU, U of C or save money and go to a state school. Favoritism is absolutely rampant within the university as well as subjective grading (e.g. A.D.). If you are on a sports team, you are guaranteed a 3.0 average (this is a fact). I have never witnessed so much cheating in my entire life, until I attended here. The worst person I had to ever deal was in the Sociology Department (i.e. E.W.). “The reason why black people are in jail is because they are angry”, yes he said this. Overall the administration are not nice people. Honestly, if I had to do it all over again, I would have gone to a state school. I made this review because we had a trip to this university. Mary was our tour guide. She was super nice and professional. The entrance is clean, there’s a map of the property next to the entrance, and I like the garden next to the entrance too. I really like the Butler Room because it looks good and old fashioned. The cafeteria is big enough and it surely doesn’t look like a high school cafeteria. The Gallery Lounge looks fantastic and colorful. Don't go here if you're not a football player or majoring in nursing! This school is garbage! I majored in music education and piano performance. The professors didn't give a damn about their students. The campus was garbage too! Goose poop everywhere you walk! Dirty lake water! Months after earning my degree, I’m still recovering from the great mess that is NEIU. Our teachers ranged from grossly incompetent to straight up vindictive, although a few were good. We, as a collective, had to report one of our teachers to the dean due to her mind boggling incompetence, inability to stick to any sort of schedule, inability to create assignments, explain them, set deadlines, and provide directions or rubrics (i.e., teaching 101… and this teacher is in the Dept of Ed!)… the list goes on, but what’s worse is that the dean totally gaslighted us. She didn’t hear us out AT ALL and made us feel like idiots. The sequencing in our program made zero sense and the “required” classes weren’t even offered. Went to the head of the program (who was another teacher we almost reported for refusing to follow 504 plans which is a federal law, but we’d given up by then) and she said those classes weren’t even a thing even though their website had them up. Magically, the classes that we said attracted us to the program in the first place disappeared from the website that week with no acknowledgement from the program director. There’s just no direction here at all. It was hell. I’m so glad it’s over. 2 stars for cost and a few decent, kind, and smart teachers. If I could do it all again, I’d really consider going into debt at a more expensive university.Betty L

The school is very diverse and a lower budget choice. I graduated from their science/education programs. I found my degree in Biology to be challenging and largely based on book memorization with occasional hands on experience. Their lab experience seemed dated compared to other institutions. This tends to be the nature of Biology, but I wouldn't say they excelled in making the experience amazing or poor. Their education program however was very lacking. It seemed out of touch with employers/districts needs. There was little to no focus on methodology, classroom management techniques other than case studies. These are the two most important skills needed in order to achieve student mastery. They did not model what they taught and I found many of their classes to be instructor led discussions about student based teaching. There was an immense amount of time spent on lesson plans and preparing portfolio's. While both are important record keeping practices, they should have been interwoven into a curriculum focused on skills based learning.becky harwell

This review is based on a tour that I took, and I will talk about most of the pictures that I took. There are monitors in the hallways. They have the weather on them or events. There's a useful board that has all of the students’ activities. When you walk around you will see the balloons that were put together creatively. The presentation was about majors, tuition, and housing. They were kind enough to give us a tour of The Nest. There is plenty of parking space. The lobby was well designed. It had a quiet place to study, a gaming place, and a gym. When we went to see the model of the apartments. I realized that there were alarms and fire extinguishers, which is a good thing for safety. The apartment has everything in it! It has a dishwasher, microwave, and furniture. There were 4 rooms, 2 bathrooms, and a living room. The cafeteria was huge and I like the fact that students and professors eat there. The food wasn’t that bad. I like the fries and the chicken fingers more than cheeseburger.3b0p

DeVry was a great online and on-site combination school. The professors actually care about their student's success. The fact that the ones teaching are actually in the field of study as a career gave me more motivation to continue my education. The layout in which we submitted our work was very user friendly and my senior project was not only beneficial to my career success but it was fun and my classmates actually worked well together which bodes well for the future. I really enjoyed my time with everyone and hope to see the in the future. If I had to be critical of one area it would be that the grading scales would differ class to class. Which in my opinion is actually good because you know that the school was making sure the class and content was up to date. I was picking up someone that had orthopaedic surgery. Drop off was easy because it was before 8a. So it was basically pull up and drop off. Picking up though I had to keep circling because she was not downstairs yet. It was hard because Valet had cars here and there and there were the medical buses also parked. I was told to watch as I circled till I saw her. It was hard to see inside. So finally I want down the block and called her to let me know when she was downstairs. Well just then she was. So I double back a little and she knew I was coming so she watched for my car. They brought her right out and told the gentleman directing traffic that I was her ride. They let me stop and helped her into the car and on our way we went. It was not as bad as I thought it would be but if I ever have to do it again I know a btter way to pick the person up. You let them know your on your way and when they are downstairs they call and then watch for your car. Stay safe everyone!!LuAnn Hilliard

I cannot say enough great things about the “RUSH” experience. The employees at this facility are amazing humans and always make us feel welcome and comfortable. This opinion comes from years of experiences over the last 19 years. There is a reason that we drive past many facilities to get to this very capable medical institution. The communication between the patients and Drs are Barr none the best we have ever experienced. They care for you and your family here and it shows with every one we come across. Dr. Batra and his team have been a blessing to me. I have had 2 previous sinus surgeries at a different hospital and I felt much, much worse afterwards. I keep telling my loved ones how amazing my Rush experience has been. Obviously, I wasn't awake when they did it, but I don't know how they were able to make it feel as if they were "gentle" while clearing out bone and such. I'm in disbelief that I can feel so close to normal immediately after a surgery. 💖💖💖💖💖 I'm also extremely grateful that Rush has been so successful at helping my aunt overcome cancer throughout this last year. I am an international student at Keller Graduate School of Management of DeVry University. After completing the program I have to say that the professors and the staff of DeVry work really hard to ensure the students' success. There are various scholarship opportunities at DeVry and pretty much easy to get accepted for a scholarship as well. Also, there are student worker opportunities for students on campus and the Students Clubs at DeVry are very much active in organizing events for students. Especially the International Students Club. Studying with DeVry has helped in getting my degree at not only a convenient pace but also an educational one. As an online student, I don't feel like I'm missing out on the classroom experience as the professors and tutors are always there to help. When I've needed help regarding my financial aid or in changing classes, the student advisors have always been helpful and personable. They provide feedback and suggestions without making you feel pushed or pressured. My main gripe would only be that sometimes you get a professor who isn't active within the course and you're left to learn the subject on your own. I truly believe that the quality of education is pretty comparable at any of the top schools. Given that, I chose Kellogg over other schools due to its collaborative atmosphere, student leadership opportunities, and collegial nature. I'm happy to say that I wasn't wrong about any of these. Even in recruiting, when two of us were going for the same positions at the same office locations, we helped each other, connecting each other with recruiters we might have missed or people we weren't able to network with. And when it came to student leadership, it was unparalleled. The amount of responsibility and leverage you have as a club leader, a student government leader, an event leader, or any other position is truly insane. My only complaint about that is that at times I wish the administration and other Kellogg staff helped the student leaders more and were more proactive instead of reactive (waiting for students to ask them to do something) — it was sometimes like having a full-time job in addition to your studies. If you're an extrovert, Kellogg is for you. Especially the social scene. If you're in introvert, it'll be tougher; I won't lie. But it can still be a very enjoyable experience, especially when people are friendly and willing to help. Also, Kellogg LOVES diversity, including people from non-business/non-traditional career backgrounds. However, if you are one of these people, you will probably have a little more trouble in your classes and in recruiting. It's frustrating, especially, in recruiting because companies will be very interested in talking to you (because you're not the 15th ex-consultant they've met) but they'll test you harder in interviews and often choose a candidate with a more traditional background over you, all things being relatively equal. The Music Department at Concordia University Chicago is a gem in the world of universities offering music education and piano pedagogy programs. The professors have degrees from top notch conservatories and universities, and are truly interested in seeing their students succeed in the classroom and after graduation. The classes are small and taught by the professors themselves. All professors take time to answer questions either in class or outside of class. As a non-traditional student, I've been through a few different schools and failed each time. Dominican has been an absolute godsend, and they've done everything in their power to ensure my success, even if it was just something as simple as giving me a call to make sure that all was well. I can't sing praises of the staff enough; the education I've received has been of amazing quality and their Bachelors degree program has given me the skills to succeed in the professional world with an edge. This review pains me to write as this school is my alma mater. I would suggest against hiring interns through Dominican's internship/career development programs as it is poorly supported and their career development department will not follow up with employers. In addition Dominican promised us reimbursements for hiring through their internship program as part of the careernet grant but are yet to deliver. Dominican University is a small campus near Chicago. They have a great Social Work and Library and Information Science programs. The school is very nice and some of the staff are friendly. The phrase that seems to follow this school around is, "You get what you put into it" and that pretty much sums it up. Care about the arts and your work or don't come here. Seriously, it's not "easier" than business school. Be passionate. PROS: In most cases (with a good advisor) you can craft a major to your interests, something that can't be done at most state funded schools. Columbia offers all arts (media, performing and fine) without barring other majors from taking specific classes. Columbia's pretty flexible with switching majors, so anyone can explore to the heart's content. The social networks are great, too (if you're willing to explore and find them – please see paragraph one). The portfolio center also offers useful tips and tricks. Also, SMALL CLASS SIZES (less than fifteen people usually), and people actually interact with you. Beyond studio classes Columbia offers a range of cultural studies, environmental science, literature, creative writing and business-art classes to supplement their programs. No Greek life, sports teams or colors. It's almost heaven. CONS: The bureaucracy. The administration doesn't keep up with students. This is why it's important to find a GOOD advisor. The school isn't nearly selective enough, and people who aren't motivated to be here are wasting resources. GPA isn't an indicator of intelligence, but ambition, and for the great resources the school provides, Columbia should raise its standards. If you don't want to repeat coursework you did in high school I strongly recommend AP classes or CLEP (it's what I did), and doing so leaves room for more interesting classes. Yeah, tuition is expensive, but so it is at any other school – if you did decent in high, you'll have a decent scholarship. Take advantage of the diverse range of classes and people that are eagerly offered to you. As far as standing out after graduation – do well academically, find an internship, do a final, independent project if possible, collaborate with other creative people and ALWAYS be doing creative projects outside of the classroom. Wouldn’t recommend. I’ve made some long term friends and made some great connection however the tuition is 100% not worth it. It rises every year. I studied journalism and a handful of my instructors were part time and it showed in how much they cared about their course, sad. The housing is way to expensive and there’s no thought put in to how the roommate situation goes. They’ll put you with anyone. The only reason you should live in student housing is if you’re wealth, you’re an RA (free rent), or only do it for the first year or first semester to make friends. Live on the north, south, or west side and commute downtown. The school overall needs a revamping in my eyes. I think of the freshman that enroll every year and the production the school puts on and how quickly all that energy dies. If you really choose to come here be prepared to have to seek out of lot of work, findings, and city life on your own. Columbia doesn’t do much besides provide scraps and a roof with some instructors. A few teachers are definitely gems but the majority aren’t memorable. I was a student here, but left after I was scammed. Columbia is a good idea that is currently VERY poorly executed. Many of the professors I encountered seemed to have chosen to "settle" teaching here because they could not make it in there respective professional areas or no longer had relevant skills. The base tuition is low compared to other schools in the area, but Columbia WILL NOT invest that money back into students. The Financial Aid department lost scholarship checks coming from my home community foundation and threatened to keep $7,250 in third party scholarships when I wanted to transfer out mid year. Expect that they will charge you for everything possible, especially in housing. My roommate was a dirty, drugged up, thief and I was not even allowed to move rooms. Please don't put yourself through this situation! You can be creative for a lot less money at a school that actually cares about the health, wellness and success of their students. Place is not good. No help for the freshmen at all. You go there and you are just lost. No one tells you anything. They didn't even tell you you needed to waive the medical insurance if you had one, otherwise it was automatic. Horrible environment as well. The university has a modern and big campus. Famous singers and comedians go to their arena to perform there and it’s for free if you study there! There’s a lot of things there. There’s a bank, Amazon, and a lot of restaurants. We had lunch there. There were a lot of choices to choose from. It was good and two students talked to us about how it is there. This is honestly the slowest school ever! The offices are a waste of time, especially the financial aid office, they hold conversation with people they know despite the fact that the office is crowded and many students have to get to work or another class. They are rude and many times you end up being sent on missions that can be fixed in the office itself. The teachers are absolutely awful, I will say that there are a few teachers who are qualified to teach, but the percentage is very low. This school is ran more like a business than a place to help students further themselves. They often have teachers who are too old, whom do not understand how to even use the school Blackboard site. It takes forever to see an adviser as well. In my last semester I received a new adviser who had no time what so ever. Each time I made an appointment with her, she had to cancel on a 3.8 GPA graduating student, because she was so busy. If you want a school that is going to put you first, I suggest honestly moving to the suburbs and attending Oakton Community College. I really wished I never went to this school, most students who attend are there solely for a refund check and to jerk around. I did what I needed to do to pass, and so can you but if you are someone who values quality then I would chose classes and teachers very very carefully. First class I took made a mistake that made me buy more class materials than necessary. I ended up spending over a $100 extra. The only way I could have returned the material was if it wasn’t highlighted. Unfortunately, by the time I found out I didn’t need the material I had already highlighted in it. I was told by multiple people that they made a mistake but couldn’t do anything to help me. Even the book store manager told me the school has a tendency to make mistakes on what the professors recommend for the class and students end up buying more than they should. I have been to 5 different colleges and this is the first time I experienced this problem. If you attend this college, just be mindful to ask the professor what material is really needed. Would hate for you to get hit with “we made a mistake but it’s not our problem.”cynthia sanchez vazquez

WARNING..IF YOU DON'T HAVE FINANCIAL AID, DON'T DO IT!!…They are now the same as a Stanford Loan scam. If you don't have financial aid, they sell you a "payment plan" thru a outsourcing loan company( Nelnet). They force you to use automatic payments you can not cancel or change. Your classes are not paid for, you're paying Nelnet to hold your classes while you attend. You are now in debt with Nelnet & City Colleges of Chicago. It's an old school ITT Tech, Devry scam. Please kids DON'T sign anything without your parents & attorney reviewing it. The business office is a joke "Payday Loan" workers with the " I just work here attitude" while they help rip you into thousands in debt. Please talk to the student affairs dept for grants or pay in cash.Mike Stewart

Robert Morris University was where my older brother went to College. He finished in less than 3 years with a bachelors and tuition was pretty affordable, he also played college hockey. I chose Robert Morris for the same reasons, I had an affordable tuition, got to play hockey at a very high level, and was suppose to be done with a bachelors in less than 3 years thanks to Robert Morris University's "Accelerated Degree Program". I was a 4.0 student and was a very hard worker on the men's D2 hockey team. The school merged with Roosevelt University in the Fall/Winter of 2020. The merger was suppose to honor Robert Morris's accelerated degree program and also honor the same tuition rate and scholarships/grants. I stayed at the school for the remainder of the year after hearing this information. Closing in on the fall 2020 semester (they lied about keeping the quarter system which was suppose to turn into 2 8-week sessions instead of the 16 week traditional semester), I was extremely frustrated my tuition went up exponentially, the accelerated degree program was canceled, and only part of my scholarships/grants were the same. I spent all of July and August calling and emailing people to not be given answers and to be brushed aside. I called at least 25 times and my Father called multiple times as well to financial aid, advising, and various other branches of the school. The few times my call was actually answered by a person, I always got the same response of "sorry we don't have access to the information from Robert Morris, someone from Robert Morris will contact you". The school was putting me in a position where I felt like I was running around like a chicken with its head cut off. I came to find out that almost everyone I knew from Robert Morris was having this problem and a good number of people left the school. I left the school since they lied about continuing the accelerated degree program and my tuition which I signed an agreement to prior to enrolling at the school my freshman year. My advisor (Amy Elliot-Meisel) was also VERY dishonest and deceiving for trying to constantly have me sign up for classes I ALREADY HAD CREDIT FOR from College Of DuPage summer classes and credits that transferred in from High School. This greatly added to my frustrations. The ethical problem is the lying and deceiving higher education business practices going on at Roosevelt. They are taking advantage of students in this merger and it makes me sick to my stomach to say the least. The school should have: 1. Not lied about this information in numerous emails, Q&A sessions, and in print-outs. 2. Kept tuition the same and honored the accelerated degree program. 3. At least have the decency and respect to say they were not honoring these things back in the Fall so I could have left the school then and not wasted time and money taking classes that were not going to transfer anywhere. I will tell and continue to tell any and everyone I know who thinks about attending here they need to reconsider immediately and save themselves from this ship-wreck of a school.James Michael

Honestly, I would've given it a 5 if it wasn't for expenses. I attended this university because I fell in love with it. My first semester involved my general ed courses and courses that goes towards my major and I'm majoring in Psychology.The environment is simply amazing. The professors are great. Of course there are going to be professors that makes you want to sleep, but that's in general with every college/universities. I never encountered rude staff members nor students. This school is literally involved with Chicago especially in a Justice way. My only problem is it's so expensive. Some books are costly and to stay on campus I wouldn't dare if you're not making a lot of money. They will help you as best as they can and they're great at that too. IF YOU ARE A CHICAGO FRESHMAN(MEANING ABOUT TO START COLLEGE) DO COMMUNITY COLLEGE FIRST THEN TRANSFER OVER TO ROOSEVELT UNIVERSITY. Trust me this will save you lots of money.D'andra Abron

RU is what you make of it. There are some great professors and good classes. I completed my BLS and the undergraduate students were eh. I completed my MBA and those students were much more involved and quite bright. Outside of Chicago, no one really knows this university. I live and work in Manhattan and no one has ever heard of this school. However, I work for the largest consulting firm in the world and received offers from equally prestigious firms. Since this school is locally known, you will have to be outstanding to compete in a serious market – NYC, London, Paris, Singapore…If you are driven and avail yourself to the school's resources, you can succeed in a global city with a degree from RU.Sloan Banks

I'm an alumni of this university and I have to say that my educational experience wasn't what I hoped it to be. Although I encountered some great professors there still were some that left a bad taste in my mouth. The campus is actually very nice. I love the progress it has made. I attend this school…it is terrible. The people is so rude. When you call them they don' t want to answer your question. They just want you to go online and figure everything out yourself.
