I went to WCSU in The Woodstock 60's. It was so small then, a blip on the radar with only a few buildings for classes, but something wonderful happened. I was given special attention and sent to Yale University to audition for it's School of Drama and I was accepted. I was coached by a director, an English prof. and a Theater Arts instructor who taught English before there was a Theater Arts program at WCSU. Thanks to them, our tiny group of drama hopefuls had the opportunity to test run a real Off Broadway Play before it was cast. Our director was a friend of the Playwright. I had the lead in that production and thanks to that I was chosen to audition for Yale, and thoroughly coached by the team. Because of them I made it. I did not go to Yale due to personal issues but the point is that there were great people willing to go beyond the scope of their requirements and guide someone to the place where they could succeed. WCSU has grown into a fine institution because it has great roots. Go visit and see what I mean.Judith A Rowland

This University is like a breath of fresh air among the other CSU's, I would highly recommend, from the staff to the OpenClose program which sorts all the classes so neatly and nicely, to the overall atmosphere of the town itself (*thats also because many of the other state colleges/universities are put in very crime filled neighborhoods) WCSU makes its very easy as well to transfer taking ALL transfer credits from the other universities, as well as if your communication major like myself, they offer many classes over the summer to help you catch up or even to learn more. Also i'd like to put out that right now is like the golden age of the communication dept at WCSU literally every professor is awesome in one way or another, even the adjuncts are amazing and that's saying something (Petkanas, Eckstein, Lever, Murtha, Brower, Wiss, Tozzoli, Barone, Woodward just to name a few)Justin Quinn

Got my MBA here. The faculty is quite smart and is genuinely interested in your success. Specifically, the marketing, supply chain, and finance professors are top notch. If you get the opportunity to study abroad for Taiwan, which is available as an undergrad as well, absolutely do it. Amazing people to network with and friends that came out of class, overall very rewarding experience. The college has had notable difficulty with their health and safety as of the writing of this that took 1 star away from my rating. I spent a year and change at the school, but I'd go again if I found the need to go back to school.Eric

Few opportunities come around that are as life-changing as the Silver Scholar program at SOM was for me – the Silver Scholars program is for students straight out of undergrad to pursue an MBA at SOM. Gorgeous facility and a great program to boot. Building has huge glass walls and a nice corridor which is used for several events. The architecture was built with the intention of reflecting their philosophies of transparency, which seems to hold true, parking can be an issue for nonstudents, have to park in another garage across the street and walk over or parallel parking.Hisham

I went here for my first two years of college. Here's what I've noticed. – The people here are great, for the most part. – UNH emphasizes on a welcoming environment – There's always new development like the Bergami center which is a very nice looking building. – I lived in Westside and Winchester halls. Both are good! – I was in Engineering which I struggled in, but when I changed my major to accounting I had no struggle. – I just really wish UNH was more helpful with finance and mental health. – They were WAY too strict with Covid. Yes, I understand the dangers, but we're adults you have to remember. They threatened to suspend if you violate rules, even accidentally. They also quarantined my entire hall in 2020 just because one student got covid. I really didn't believe they had to be that harsh. – They were also TERRIBLE with communication when moving in for my 2nd year (because of covid), and I had to spend a month trying to figure out when to move in. – The Accessibility resources center is a good place, but once they forbid me from using a calculator on a chemistry exam in March of 2020. Everybody but the ARC staff thought that was terrible. – Their math department was terrible. The professors meant well, but it was not taught in an interesting way. – On a positive note, they are fantastic at safety. In January of 2021 I got cyberbullied by someone in the school who made threats including a death threat. The ResLife dept. handled it very well and the police took it very seriously and found the guy doing it, someone who I thought was a friend. He was suspended. Overall, UNH is not perfect, but their heart is in the right place. I didn't leave for any of these reasons listed, that's another story entirely. But if you are Nick, Chris, Lucas, Antonia, Victoria, Makayla, Jenna, Galianna, Alexa, or Patrick, I miss you!James Shewan

I attended UNH between spring 2019 and January 2021 (two years) as a transfer, and earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice (Investigative Services Concentration). I am giving this school 3 stars because excluding a very good academic experience, there were too many low moments I experienced at UNH for me to give this review more stars. These low moments range from lack of opportunities for commuter students (which is what I was for 3/4 semesters), existing social circles that prevent prospective students from feeling any sense of belonging, the school's fostering and promotion of the word "LatinX", and other things. (Mainly because I am a Latino/Hispanic male originally from South America, and don't see how the word is applicable to the Central/South American community). The pandemic did affect the college experience in spring 2020, but my experience was already going downhill well before this. For these reasons, I feel as though this was an era of my life that never happened. Above all, I find it difficult to talk about this era and school in more positive (than negative) ways. I do recommend this school for my degree. My professors did an excellent job of teaching me. But it all does come at a cost because setbacks or letdowns (described above) can quickly affect a student's experience. Likewise, I am considering graduate school here because my professional job search opened my eyes to how graduate degrees are becoming the new standard for the U.S workforce. The beauty of this school is not just about the academic excellence and great facilities, but the diversity; it’s almost as if every nationality is represented here. Everyone is friendly from the students to the academic staffers, non-academic staffers, to the school security operatives. When I visited this school I observed wheelchair accessibility is greatly adhered to in this institution. I also noticed there’s a 24/7 Wells Fargo Bank ATM point on this campus. Consequently, you will always have access to cash. When you school here you also get to enjoy the magnificence of New Haven, West Haven and most of all New York City, since it’s just less than an hour ride with your car or via the Metro-North Train. The online MBA (iMBC) program is AMAZING. They have fantastic student support advisors and professors, responsive technical support, and the online platform is easy to use! Although my professors have been awesome, the university as a whole is horribly disorganized and mismanaged. The various staff of different departments are uniformly rude and uninformed. I've gotten wrong and/or misleading information on basic protocol literally EVERY SINGLE TIME I've spoken with someone (where do I submit work study requests? Can I still carry student insurance if I'm part-time?) Regarding the insurance, I was told "yes" by 2 different pople. HOWEVER, the answer to that is it's automatically cancelled when you register online for classes and it is received as part-time, so then you have to re-enroll as a new client at a higher rate. I found this out when I was trying to fill a prescription and after much investigation found out that my insurance had been cancelled. This is one of the MANY problems I've experienced with Southern administration. Equally as faulty, is the technology "services" that Southern uses. Windows 7 computers in the computer labs that take (no joke) 5-20 mins to log you on if there are more than 3 people in the room and remote printing that requires an installation on your laptop every time you want to use it. This is recommend since you'll otherwise sit for 20 mins for the lab computer to log on and then progress to opening and printing a file at the speed of dial-up. If you need to reach anyone (computing services, the bookstore) for questions, you'll be strained to find contact info outside of the (203)392-SCSU main office number. A detailed Google search rarely finds the phone numbers associated with specific offices. Most recently, for the past month as Southern has started the fall semester, their network has become so overloaded that the mail server periodically un-syncs all of my devices from their email (iPhone, Mac) so I don't get mail or know that an email I sent never actually sent, since it doesn't appear in ANY outbox or draft folder from any device. But since it happens off-and-on, as the SCSU network comes and goes as it pleases, I've not known about the missed emails until someone tells about a group email I missed. Lastly, and kinda most importantly, Southern's crap internet system occasionally doesn't recognize my password for Bannerweb, email, and Blackboard. Confoundingly, this doesn't occur on these applications all in one sitting. MANY TIMES I've sat and typed my password into Blackboard 5+ times and magically after repeated entries it suddenly works!!! Always had the same problem logging into "myscsu" and trying to get my email back online to the Southern server. Recommendation: If you're enrolling as a full-time undergraduate, I would HIGHLY recommend looking for a school elsewhere because you're DEFINITELY not getting your money's worth at this institution. Note: they also have no funding for student work study anymore, so don't count on that for extra money/tuition expenses. If you're taking classes part-time, for a job or continuing education, it will be a frustrating experience, but not a total waste of money. Botton line, I rated 2 stars because the professors and experiences with classmates have been awesome this past year, but the university as a whole is beyond frustrating.Jennifer Vollmer

im usually not the type of person to be negative and leave lengthy reviews but this is so necessary being that im so extremely disappointed with this school! I went for a tour in November of 2017 fell in love with the campus so I decided to apply as a transfer student in April of 2018! I sent in my fee waiver form April 20th I was told it takes 2-3weeks to hear back from the school, ok cool! here it is a MONTH later still no response, nor any communication to even let me know they've received my fee waiver form and that id be hearing from them soon or whatever the case may be just complete silence!!! not to mention the students that answer the phone are very rude and snappy! I withdrew my application and applied to Iona college! I applied with them got an acceptance letter, got my financial situation settled, paid my deposit all within a week, easy as 1,2,3 as it SHOULD be. Its an excellent school with a countless number of awards, i feel as though the process of applying to schools should be as easy and stress free as possible! Im extremely dissatisfied with my experience with this school it literally had everything I was looking for campus wise, but everything happens for a reason and being that Im going into the education field I've been told from numerous amounts of educators that im better off getting a job, with a degree from Iona under my belt. If I could give Southern zero stars I absolutely would. They are extremely unorganized, they don't care about you as a student AT ALL.. They cancelled a BIO class that I really needed a week before classes start. I emailed the head of the department asking for a solution and all I got was a too bad.. Now because of this I have to attend an extra semester and will not be graduating in time.. They offer classes at odd times which makes it hard for you to sign up for classes back to back, so far the professors I had don't care about you and are not understanding.. I graduated from Western Connecticut and I never had a problem with them and now because of Southern I have to spend more of my time and money that I don't have…Barbara Monteiro

On the area of establishing fit in the application… what is the best way to do this? How can prospective students get a better idea of what Darden is looking for when it comes to personality, work experience and potential? Where would you most likely get a sense for this during a visit – professors, students, the classroom? 2. Speaking of visiting campus, I think you make a very good point on the super model schools and where Darden and similar programs compare. 3. You mention that it might have helped to take some introductory courses in accounting and finance to feel more comfortable prior to starting classes. Knowing this now, how would you have gone about this? I've looked into this a lot and have found that there is very little guidance on prep of this nature at universities and colleges around me. Absolutely horrible when it comes to sports and treatment of opposing teams. They have no respect or boundaries. They completely don't take the announcements before the games seriously when they mention no slurs or prejudice. And campus police or staffing barely stopped them from getting too close to the opposing team when trying to intimidate the opposing team. They slandered the opposing team telling them to go back to their "dirty" city and mentioned not speaking Spanish because they don't speak Spanish there. Shameful! I don't find the students our teachers "snobby", like some reviews suggest. The professors definitely expect hard work and effort, and are pretty demanding. But they also will go out of their way to help you learn, including outside of normal office hours. They truly care that you learn, and don't just churn out degrees like most colleges now. The business graduate school rivals Harvard in quality, but also teaches a technology focus like MIT. You can't beat the grad school here, especially the taxation program.David

School with racist students and irresponsible office of student conduct that doesn’t take things seriously. On April 18th 2021 my girl friend and I were assaulted by three (two male one female) Bentley students. While the director of student conduct did write us back that they were going to follow up with their police detective, no updates were made. This was a traumatizing experience and is frustrating that they did not take any action with the report. I am very disappointed with Bentley and their students.Eurey Noguchi

In addition to Penn State, consider NYU , Colgate, Michigan, Cornell and Richmond for finance; Villanova, Lehigh, Virginia, Wake Forest and Richmond for accounting. An actuary calculates insurance and annuity premiums. In the insurance industry, actuaries are highly paid. It is a boring profession to most and is essentially a statistics major. I graduated from Carey Business school with a MBA in 2010 before the school's relocation to Inner Harbor, Dr. Ferrari's appointment as dean, and school's AACSB accreditation. The program has improved light years since I was a student back in 2007. Back then, majority of the faculty were part-time practitioners, and tuition was half of what it is today. Today, most faculty have Ph.Ds from top schools. Give it another 20 years and the MBA program could rank in the top 50. One of the reviewers noted that there are many international Chinese students. The program's emphasis is on Global MBA and China's global influence is growing very fast so I think networking with future leaders of China can be an opportunity. When I visited Shanghai in 2015, I attended several Johns Hopkins alumni events and met a few Carey alumni. Tuition is very high. However, given the school's reputation and potential to become a top MBA program, I think getting a degree from Carey Business school is a good investment.Andrew

The faculty is great and highly motivated the content which is taught is extraordinarily – I took both classes in their "normal" program and in their executive education program and I have to say that I was a bit disappointed by their executive education because it was just not informative and fast enough – but the courses in their program are really worthy. When I am at Carey Business School I only hear Mandarin….which BTW there is nothing wrong with it (Sounds like a Seinfeld joke, right?). My only concern is that some unranked schools sometimes become channels for providing American visa to wealthy overseas business families. Having transferred from a larger school, the small class sizes and personal attention from each teacher(not T.A.'s) lends itself to an invaluable experience. Attended this school from 5th grade until 8th grade. I was in the second patch of students when this school first opened. At first I really hated this school and wanted to leave so bad! Let me tell you on the last day of 8th grade at commencement I was crying because I didn't want to leave. I wish everyday that I can relive those years. They are quick to point out what your child does wrong but when they make a mistake and you call them on it they can not be reached or they say they will get back to you and never do. I went to Housatonic right out of high school. From fall 2012 to winter 2015, I attended. The professors were professional and helpful. I could email or call or see them during their office hours if I needed to speak (I prefer in person). All the professors I had were passionate and knowledgeable. I transferred from the science program to the fine arts program. The school and my advisor were helpful in this transition. (Personally, every process/interaction was quick and easy) It was a great choice for me. I found the fine arts department to be a great group of people. Very dedicated and all successful in their fields. They didn't just become teachers, they had/have careers and are extremely talented. A little quirky, but what artist isn't? They really helped me improve my art and gave me advice on selling my art. Aside from the actual classes, my favorite part was the fantastic cafeteria. Honestly, I still go back! I still wander around downtown sometimes – that's where HCC is. Its not idyllic but its not as tough as the streets of Manhattan. There's a few oddballs but in 2 years of night courses I never felt unsafe. There's good restaurants and a few shops, concerts in the summer. I graduated and transferred to an art college, almost all of my credits transferred. I'm at a smaller college now, to get my BA, and I miss the convenience of being in a downtown area, near a park and print shop, and really miss the cafe !Christine Jones

This place is the worst. I had the worst experience with an advisor who tried to advise me in the lobby of the building. She basically asked me why I was there…. Then tried to advise me to go to every other department so she would have to do the bare minimum??? Security guards at every door, not kind ones either they definitely don't make it a warm and friendly campus. Seems like they're trying to protect themselves from more that just Covid. The financial aid office is a mess, and the enrollment process was ugh…. They basically didn't know how to add my Transcript credit aside from them sort of losing my Transcripts which the head guy admitted, and looked at me asking if I had any unofficial ones on me…?. The 3 stars are for their professors, they were lovely. The school is trash though go to NCC instead especially if you value professionalism and can do advisement.E J

Housatonic community college Is one of the Best Colleges I have attended. Academically, and socially, this college is well rounded. HCC has Great teachers, that honestly want to see their students succeed.i can only tell you this because this was me, a student who was extremely stressed about the material and course work. Enrolling into HCC from a pervious college, I did not have the funds for school. when I applied for a HCC scholarship I was more than fortunate To have Received grant.YES from School. I have totally made the correct choice to attend HCC. I was nervous at first, but it’s the realization Of coming out of your comfort zone, to achieve your goals and aspirations. I am truly blessed and more than thankful to attend Housatonic community college.
