Misericordia University is not only strikingly beautiful but offers an exceptional education for every student. The faculty and staff at Misericordia are very encouraging and motivate every student to meet their dreams academically and socially. I have attended Misericordia for 4 years and am working toward my Doctorate in Physical Therapy. The Physical Therapy program is a 6.5 year guaranteed program, the first 3.5 years earning a bachelor’s degree and the next 3 years at the graduate level for physical therapy. This program has been accredited for a number of years and has a very high passing rate on the board exam. Throughout my 4 years at Misericordia, I have nothing but positive remarks. Misericordia has taught me how to be both successful and independent. I lived on campus for all 4 years at Misericordia, 2 years working as a Resident Assistant and two years with fellow students. Although it was fun to live with some of my friends, living by myself as an RA was definitely a huge perk. From being an RA, I was able to witness students who got involved in the Misericordia community and students who chose to mind to themselves. With that experience I can only give advice that getting involved and putting yourself out there is vital, not only at Misericordia but throughout life. You can’t just let life walk by you, you need to put on your shoes and run towards your dreams (and if something is for free, you really have nothing to lose). Misericordia offers a huge variety of ways to get involved from campus ministry, athletics, theater, and various clubs, there is most definitely something that peaks everyone’s interest. I have met so many amazing people and have made friendships that will last a lifetime from Misericordia. Through getting involved as an RA, and being involved in clubs such as business professional association, health care management association, and H.O.P.E (Healthy Options Peer Educators), I have been able to learn new information, make friends, and have fun. There is a wonderful program at Misericordia called the Guaranteed Placement Program (GPP) where every year of their education students learn viable and helpful tips such as how to properly handle a job interview or how to build your resume. At the end of the student’s time at Misericordia, the GPP program guarantees that you will graduate with a payed internship or job 6 months after graduation. Therefore, there is no fear that you will earn a degree and not have a job after loaning so much money. I am proud to be a student at Misericordia University. As a student from out of state (born and raised in Arizona), attending Misericordia University has been a very unique experience for me. The location has been comfortable, coming from a small town, so the location has not been overwhelmingly populated while still being close enough to other cities and shopping locations. MU also assisted in my decision to switch majors, and have been a Mass Communications student with a Philosophy minor since my sophomore year. Students with interests in the arts and and humanities, like myself, often feel as if they are not taken as seriously as other majors, such as health sciences. However, I feel that MU’s liberal arts approach embraces all student interests, including encouraging creativity while also helping students get to know the “real world” and how to approach the world from a realistic and economic perspective. Getting involved at MU has also been fairly easy and a welcome experience for me. The Mass Communications department is tight-knit but is welcoming of all students, and has job, classes, or club opportunities for students in and outside of the major. The arts are also embraced by the campus radio station (Cougar Radio), the Highlander newspaper, etc. I’ve participated in multiple groups and events on campus, and have found student employment on campus, along with researching, preparing for, and currently executing internships during my college career. I’m a firm believer that college is what you make it, and MU has helped me embrace all these passions that I’ve always had and has helped me move forward with the things that matter most to me.Destiny

Misericordia University has been my home away from home. I never second guess my choice of coming to school here. The occupational therapy program is one like no other. I take pride in my hard work and the teachers in my program and other faculty on staff are friendly, generous, and want to see every student succeed! I wouldn't recommend this place if you have any mental health issues. They are ill-equipped to handle any sort of these situations. I can attest to this not just from my experience, but from my friends' experiences as well. UPDATE 2022: I have since graduated from the University. Career Services was of ZERO help in finding me a job or internships. I also got an email from them recently, asking if I could advise a student interested in a similar, but not the same, major. I had to explain the difference between my major and the other major to Career Services. A big deciding factor in me coming to Saint Francis was that they had good job placement, which I specifically called them on the phone and asked about, prior to attending. During the phone call, I was told all the places where people had gotten jobs. Fast-forward and most people from my department are not working in the field they went to college for or working jobs they are over-qualified for.Kristin Endres

Currently pursuing their online Master of Human Resource Management. The staff are extremely friendly, organized, and really care. The classes can be challenging, but the professors are always there to help. I'm blown away at this school. A hidden gem: organized classes, quick responses for all academic (financial aid, advising, curriculum) inquiries, and all of it at a very competitive rate. If you're considering their online programs, choose them! I'm sure their campus classes are great as the same professors teach them. Many classes have professionals who are actually in the real world, teaching the content that they practice everyday. They don't try and sell you anything, which is huge "pet-peeve" of mine. I'm from the DC area, nine hours away from this school– having never been to campus– they have been more available than my undergraduate university (In which I had 100% on campus classes). A couple week's ago my wife and I helped our daughter and son-in-law take our granddaughter to her first year of college it was a great experience the young adults that helped unload are truck's were the best they emptied the truck's guided us to her room and answered every question it was nice to see the respect and manorisim that these young adults showed at all times especially in the times we live in. My wife and I just moved our freshman daughter to Susquehanna last week. We couldn’t be more impressed with the efficiency of the move-in process and the extensive measures – physical and procedural – in place across the campus to mitigate the spread of disease. The University kept us well informed of their evolving plans weeks prior to move-in date. Upon arrival the dorms were clean, the staff were super friendly, and the resulting atmosphere was warm and comfortable. We were at peace feeling that our daughter was in a safe place. Great job to the University as a whole for great plans and execution of them to get students safely back to school.Carl Hordesky

Attended a church conference. The Christian auditorium had the air conditioning so cold you need a sweater. Bathrooms located downstairs were a little dated. The workshops were in a separate building where the cafeteria and conference rooms with wall dividers. Cafeteria was environmentally friendly with real plates, glassware, and silverware. This was the last school in the world I wanted to attend, but having 3 school aged kids and a limited available schedule, I found that it was my only option. Upon enrolling I realized just how nice the school is. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable and are always willing to help in any way they can. The education isn't mediocre either. I've met people that have transferred to a 4 yr. college from RACC and they told me some classes from RACC were more demanding and difficult that the ones they took in the 4 yr. college. Lastly, the cost of education at this school is very cheap, especially if you take in to consideration the quality level of education you receive while in attendance. If you're looking for a school to do minimal work just to receive a degree, this isn't the school for you (They expect you to work for your grades). However, if you're looking for a good school, with knowledgeable teachers and staff, a quality education that stands up to the rest, and tuition that doesn't cost a fortune; this school is exactly what you've been looking for! I went to RACC for my associates and ALL the staff became a family for me. I love this place from day one. They were all very supportive and respectful. I happened to work at the security department under the work study program and I had the best supervisor anyone could ask for. Carmen Medina was a mother yo me. She was very supportive and empowering. Stacy was like a sister to me. Always keeping me smiling and always encouraging me. My coworkers were always supportive and patient with me. They trained me well and I was with them even after I graduated. I am so grateful for my RACC family. From financial aid staff, admission office, work study program coordinator Kim livingood, the student lab on Berks hall. To Maria at the front desk. Librarians, I love my GED teacher Maria Perez. RACC Is affordable and their curriculum is very well designed to prepare you for the bachelors. Danelle Bower is a great instructor and Dr Blakely. They prepare students to think outside the box. This school really sucks. It is for students who have no choice but to go to that school. Almost half the campus is on some kind of academic probation. The staff is not really helpful like they say they are. Only a small percentage of professors and staff really care about the students. The school tends to make decisions with the students money and spend it, without the current students knowledge. Parking is horrible at this campus and security is very minimal. So If you are looking for a safe, secure, educational environment where people actually respect you and care about your education. This is not the place for you. The Campus is clean, and well maintained. The food isn't too bad. But aside from these constants, you will have a different experience depending on your worldview going in. The theology and philosophy courses you will be required to take will be authentically Catholic, which will either encourage or enrage you depending on if you are a practicing Catholic or not. Other general ed's will be standard, but sufficent. DeSales University is going to be a decidedly different experience depending on your major as well. If your major is in the arts and you are a practicing Catholic, you will have a tough time since most of the people in that major will be agnostic or atheist (and professors may be geared towards that). However-the actual theory and practical application of the discipline you are studying is going to be very good and useful. The people you meets will likely be very nice, and you won't have a tough time finding friends if you try. The faith life of campus is pretty good, with various to groups to encourage you. There's a small community of students who attend daily mass, which is always a help. The Mass itself however (Sunday and weekday), leaves a bit to be desired. The music especially will sound a bit 1970's, instead of having the timeless characteristic of a liturgically accurate mass. Gregorian Chant or Polyphony would sure help here, but the choir director is a protestant at the moment (for some reason) so that is unlikely. All in all, whether you are a practicing Catholic or an unabashed pagan you will have some issues with DeSales, but the academics themselves are good and you will likely be prepared for your field upon graduation.JP Kloess

It seems incredible that they are a university with "Christian principles" and today February 22, 2021, they announced a snow day and did not cancel classes or offer them online to students who commute to campus. My daughter is in college and she cannot come back to my home because it is snowing very hard and she drives a small car that cannot be driven in the snow because it may cause and or have an accident. You should be more empathetic with the students who commute. It seems that they are only interested in the money and not in the lives of the students. Enjoyed a few Basebal Games. Not a bad seat in the house. When One arrives at The Stadium Complex, there's an opportunity to watch Men's Baseball or Women's Softball. The fields are "SUPER" nice. They are well maintained and down right beautiful. Bring an umbrella for shade. It can get a bit hot. This is a "GREAT" Family Event. Unlike other places, there's NO COST to get in. Parking is free , however it can get a little tight w/ games going on at both fields simultaneously. This being said, If you're a Baseball Fan, it's an experience to be had. Visit soon….. IUP is a public University often called by its nick name Crimson Hawks. IUP is spread across 350 acres in Indiana town. Identified by Crimson and slate colors, thus university is a wonderful place to study. Established in 1875, IUP is a very famous Teacher Training University. The lush green campus is amazing and well organised. Well connected through free bus service inside and outside the campus. Whole staff is awesome. The university is very well managed and has a powerful network of Alumni. IUP is ever progressive and many major grants sanctioned to various departments. The university offers a good diversity and hosts students and scholars from many countries.👍👍Amit Mehta

As the mom of a college student who had to leave a private, out of state institution for medical reasons, I came into contact with BCCC when my son was ready to obtain further credits. The administration was so very helpful, from applying for appropriate courses, to registering and payment. My son has not yet graduated, but the experience at the local community college was excellent. BCCC also has programs in which high school students with special skills or talents can participate in college level work. Both the high school and BCCC were extremely helpful in this regard. High school credits were obtained with no tuition payment. Finally, I am a sunset photographer. The high hill on the campus overlooking the baseball field just off Swamp Road is a very nice vista for sunset shots!!Carol Geibe

First off the price is great. The campus is really nice. I liked the professor's a ton. There were some really good teachers. When I transferred out most of my credits went to Penn state without an issue. I see a few reviews on here talking about bad teachers. This is not a BCCC problem, it's a college problem. I had just as many bad teachers if not worse teachers at Penn State as I did at BCCC. Expect it, accept it, and work harder in those classes. It's only 16 weeks folks. If you are looking to see if college is for you or just starting back up with your education I think it's a great place to start.Mike Carson

The campus itself is clean and the security is friendly. As for the professors I had in my two year stint here, many of them were awesome people and very helpful as teachers. I feel I have learned a lot from having knowledgeable teachers such as Professor Beers in the math department and Professor Bresnen in the music department. Very good education for an affordable price. A majority of the professors are very knowledgeable in their field and can teach you a lot. The gen eds can be brutal which is why I give 4 stars instead of 5, but this is an amazing institution. If you are looking to go into the education field, the professors are great and they have a lab school which helps earn observation hours. The Human Communication Studies field is amazing as well! You learn a lot and if you do the work and put forth the effort, the professors will help you learn concepts when you are having trouble. Don't just expect to show up to class, not do the work, and still get an "A". You will learn tons of great things and have a fantastic time with the various programs offered by the Activities Board, just do the work that's asked of you and you will have a great time at this University!Matthew Haun

Beautiful campus, great school, at an affordable price for in-state residents, in a nice small college town. Off campus housing is nearby with walking distance. My only gripe is if alumni move out of state, their children cannot get in-state tuition. I tell them this every time they call and ask for alumni contributions, but the PA state just doesn't seem to get it, or they never get the message. An alumni can donate thousands to their PA alma mater, and then when it is time for their children to attend college, there is still no discount for their children to attend. PA state should seriously consider a change.Dave D

The professors here are pretty bad especially the ones with tenure! The atmosphere is bad and there student run clubs are a joke they only do them to build resumes so they don't take them seriously. The campus is dreary and people are not friendly. The only good aspect of Shippensburg is that off campus housing is cheap and the food is okay. First of all, I have no connection to Cedar Crest College. I did not attend school nor do I know anyone that attended school there. On June 7 2018 I made a journey to the Lehigh Valley to photograph the campus of Cedar Crest College in Allentown Pennsylvania. I was inspired by a vintage early 50’s video of the school that I saw on YouTube. When I arrived I was not disappointed. The campus is so well manicured that it almost seemed like I was exploring a country club. Parking was easy and the campus was easy to find. My self-guided tour took me to all points on the campus from the aquatic center to the Da Vinci Science Center. I would like to come back to the science center when it is open. The centerpiece of the Cedar Crest College campus is Blaney Hall. The historic old building photographed well and it is surrounded by gardens in bloom. I saw the theater, cafeteria, and the art gallery. The art gallery is open limited hours and I was not able to go inside. The theater was also closed but the cafeteria was open for business and the prices were great. Cedar Crest College is 151 years young and it is truly a gem in the Lehigh Valley.Richard K

Honestly the worst school for nursing. So many people get kicked out of their school for pointless reasons. You have a better bet going to a different nursing school in the area. Cedar Crest nurses are always unconfident even when they are knowledgeable because of the environment they’re put in. If you ask working nurses in the area, they’ll tell you that they’ve only heard horror stories from Cedar Crest. People only look at their pass rate, but not their drop rate and how many people they let go for nothing. They have to take proficiency exams every semester and have to score 90% or higher on things they have not been taught yet. Go to a school that doesn’t have that! More than four professors have left within the last year and there’s a reason for that. Some quit in the middle of the year!! All the students will tell you that there’s always broken or used equipment and that the staff never values mental health of their students. Students are expected to be at a doctorate level and teach themselves. This school is extremely unorganized and there are other places that respect their nursing students and encourage teaching!Emily Snyder

I am afraid of my daughter committing suicide over this school!!!! She is so stressed and anxious because they only care about the money. When over half the class fails a test it’s not the student as much as it is the teacher!! Barely anyone gets through the nursing program without failing… a few times!! She is in so much debt but I cannot talk her into transferring because she would have to start the program over! They expect the best of the best out of the students but have the worst of the worst professors!!! They should be ashamed of themselves! They do not tech you. They expect the students to teach themselves and to know what they are doing. If the students ask questions they are made out to feel stupid. I finished my degree here and really found the small school atmosphere refreshing after four years at a 28,000+ university. I did not live on campus so I can't tell you about that experience. The departments are small enough that you can't get lost but large enough to give you great opportunities. They can at times be frustratingly small however and tend not to overwhelm with options. Overall they restored much of my faith in higher education and as some one who dislikes school by and large, I had a genuinely enjoyable time in a difficult class (physical chemistry if you were wondering). I am thinking of picking a few more classes up here and would recommend them to anyone who likes to really know their professors.Andrew Martin

Avoid this place!! It is in the middle of nowhere! There is no train station, no airport, no shop, nothing. You have to go through Harrisburg, but after that it is a hassle to get there! It is pretty much like a ghost town. Hotels around the college are also very poor quality and high price- horrible experience. Conference organizers! Be aware! If the college offers to host any conference there, don't choose that place. You will end up with nothing but waste of your money.David S

If you want a college that is like a small town, academically challenging and great student to teacher ratios, LVC is a find. It is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and graduation requirements include basic courses in religion. I’m not a Christian, but I found the Religion classes fascinating and challenging. I have just graduated from Gwynedd in the fall of 2021. When I first started, I was terrified. What college freshman wouldn't be scared? It was a brand new environment and I didn't know anyone. After a few weeks I felt right at home and now, 3.5 years later, I couldn't be happier with my decision to attend Gwynedd. The school has given me amazing opportunities to expand my knowledge in a family-oriented environment. The professors truly care about each student's success no matter what course and they're more than willing to help students get the help they need. Advisors are awesome as well. If it weren't for my advisor, I wouldn't have pushed myself as hard and I wouldn't have graduated early. I will never regret my decision to attend Gwynedd for many reasons. The school gave me everything I could've possibly wanted and needed. As a commuter, the location was perfect. The drive was no more than 30 minutes and the area around Gwynedd is comfortable. Gwynedd is primarily commuters and I think they did a really great job of making sure those students were involved with as much as possible. Events are held in the afternoon or evening so commuters have the option to participate and join in the fun. Gwynedd did an amazing job at providing the college experience to commuters while they also having the comfort of their own home. Overall, it was the best of both worlds. I also had the privilege of being a student-athlete at GMercyU. As a D3 school, Gwynedd offers an incredible opportunity for students to perform well academically while participating in the sport they love. The coaches each play a huge role in the success of the student-athlete body by monitoring grades, attendance, and participation. They're completely understanding when students need to focus on their classwork and they acknowledge that academics come first. Gwynedd places much emphasis on the athletes to help keep the school spirit up. Each team is extremely supportive of the others and they are always more than willing to help out with school events. My time at Gwynedd has been part of the best 3.5 years of my life. Everyone on campus, whether it's students, faculty, or staff, is extremely welcoming and friendly. The campus community is one big family and I'm extremely thankful to have been a part of that. There are so many ways to get involved on campus, from athletics to clubs to honor societies. Look elsewhere! I went to this "university" many years ago when it was still a college. Based on the reviews, it seems nothing has changed since when I went. I was an adult student for secondary education and the program was the worst. Once you're locked in to their program, that's it – your credits are good no where else. There were at least twenty people in my secondary education class – at the final, only three of us were left – and not because of the students, but because of the teacher. The students I spoke to who were just out of high school said that the campus life was non-existent and boring, that they hated it here (that hasn't changed, either). The classes are spaced so far apart that you can either stick around and be bored for hours or drive home and waste gas. After reading the reviews and seeing nothing has changed in all these years – that they didn't care to change, why would you go here?Nemysis OnEarth

Although I do not have any experience with the education provide by this Christian institution, as a local I am displeased with the un-neighborly and un-Christian way Gwynedd Mercy security officers, or "public safety officers," handle individuals who are lead onto the campus by the local park trail. I understand this is a private university and they can ask people to leave if they are intruding, but simply riding my bike through an empty campus to avoid dangerous traffic on Sumnytown Pike seems like a bit much. Not to mention when I asked one of the officers, "so I need to go get hit by a car on Sumneytown rather than ride here without any issue," and he replied, "YES!" Pretty nice mid sized place. Everything is so Gothic looking. Seems like a nice safe place to be for students. There are emergency call buttons all around and it's a quiet mix sized place. They have their share of high tech and old tradition. Attended a baseball showcase at Legacy Park on Lehigh's beautiful campus. What a great college stadium tucked in the hills of Pennsylvania. Lehigh was a wonderful sports complex on top of being a top flight school.Robert W

I graduated in 2004 and I absolutely LOVED York! I loved the size of the classes and personalized attention you recieved from the professors (I was even tutored by one personally!) the professors really take their time to guide you and to make sure that you are understanding the lessons. The tuition was affordable especially for a private college!! The social life was awesome too. Tons of fun frats & bars to go to. The parties were always so fun and the drinks were always super cheap! I lived on Jessop Place, which wasn't the safest street. But to be honest, if you want to live off campus, you are taking a risk. Living on campus is great but when I was there, it was a dry campus, so I opted to live off campus my Junior & Senior year. The house I lived in was robbed once (we left the door unlocked, which wasn't very smart) but other than that I didn't have any issues with my house. All in all, I would say York was a great experience, and you better believe that I will be highly recommending my children go to my Alma Mater. 🙂Catie Jones

I will be graduating from York College in the winter of 2013 with a degree in History and I cannot say enough about YCP. I love the experiences and the faculty at York, all of my history professors are published authors that are very involved in their field and conduct international trips at least two times a year. I have gotten a lot of great feedback about career choices from my academic advisor and from the department as well. The growth on campus, of buildings and students, is impressive. York College is currently building a new business center and has a dedicated 10 year growth plan for buildings and enrollment. I'm sure some people have had negative experiences with the school, and people at the school, but I have had a great time learning and growing at York College.Suzi Burt

Update Jan. 2018: I’m disappointed to see that the graduation ceremony has changed little since I left 10 years ago. The school still utilizes a giant circus tent for graduation, and organization for the event as only minimally improved. The overall experience of York College is an outstanding one, but the graduation ceremony still requires improvement. **I graduated in 2008 and I must say, the only thing about York that I regretted was not having a football team to cheer for. Aside from that it was a good experience, solid professors, and overall a good education.Bryan

I am surprise people are voting Holy Family University 4 or 5 stars. I guess these rating are NOT based on the quality of the education. AS A PARENT who toured the campus with my child during an open house , I felt that Holy Family can't compete with students from the other schools in the area. Yes, they offer small class sizes ,personal attention, but what else? You don't here a lot about Holy Family graduates in Philadelphia or its surrounding area. Villanova, La Salle, and St.Joseph's are stealing the spotlight from other catholic colleges. Upenn, and Drexel are the large private schools. Temple is a large public school. You could find graduates from those 6 colleges working in MANY different fields around Philadelphia. What is Holy Family's problem? I think they have a problem standing out from the crowd. Like someone has mentioned, Holy Family is too calm. They are afraid to push boundaries, try new things, and compete with the other schools. The school is too relax. It's a calm peaceful university, that DON'T make things happen, but instead THEY WAIT for things to happen. Holy Family is VERY similar to Rosemont ,Cabrini and Gwynedd Mercy, three other failing colleges in the area. They don't have a strong alumni network and programs with a long legacy of success. You CAN'T BLAME this on the school's small size or the school's late founding, 1954. MOST OF THE BLAME SHOULD be place of Holy Family's administration. Not much is done in the president's office. You hear about their nursing program, but you also hear about better nursing programs in the area. What makes Holy Family Different? Most online reviews are commenting on the grading system. I don't understand why this university is hurting their students. Let's be honest, most students at Holy Family were not bright in high school (look at admission stats), so why would the school want to change the system. This grading system should NOT be an incentive for students to work harder. Based on everything I said, I would not recommend Holy Family. If you want be in the philly area, go to a good school. The worst university ever. Do not waste your time and money sending your child here. They do not practice Catholic Values At all. The instructors are not even qualified to teach, they do not teach anything. They teach everything from power point that student already have copies of. Most of the instructors do not have PH.D's. Tuition is very expensive and under-qualified instructors all always discouraging students and putting them down. If students have problems, the faculty sides with instructors not helping students at all. The university is overrated. The name is just a cover up to attract Christian students. The faculty members and instructors, do not follow the Christian principles in the way they act and conduct themselves, specially toward students. Parents be aware, do not let the name fool you – Holy Family. Not Holy at all the way the faculty member and instructors conduct themselves. Since transferring to Holy Family University in 2014 I've come to realize that this was one of the best decisions I have made in my collegiate career thus far. I have never been more satisfied with this university in terms of education, faculty/staff, and the students I have met and ultimately became close with. Holy Family is more than a University, it is a place that, should you put your mind to it, can open doors for your career and future. As graduation quickly approaches I look back on these past two years and realize that the education I gained, not only scholastically but emotionally and spiritually, will be the the ground work in creating a successful future for myself. Good only for specific programs like Physical Therapy and ? and if you are planning to spend 1-2 semesters abroad. Their travel abroad opportunities is their claim to fame, Otherwise, it is a very boring campus, the food is pretty bad, the dorms are dirty for what you what you pay, and the majority of the students are commuters or live off campus so you don; t get the full college experience. As a Communications Major, I would HIGHLY SUGGEST another school. I wasn't prepared for a job as an editor on a magazine and most journalism jobs expect you are at least intermediate at Adobe Suite,using a Mac, able to do film/ photography and write, and chase are stories for $10 an/hr. The nostalgic days of the investigative reporter and my visions of bringing justice to the world like Edward R, Murrow and Hunter Thompson were over long ago, at least at this school, but the BILLS for just 2 years at Arcadia ( I was a transfer student keep on coming and probably will till I die). The Communications department is a joke and 90% is run by adjuncts. I had some good classes but I should have learned how to make a perfect resume, portfolio, and all the computer skills you're expected to know now. It is a beautiful campus although they neglect to say you are bordering a ghetto. Don't let that damn castle lure you in. Small class sizes are nice but you can get that at other schools for a lot less money The worst part is no one has ever heard of this school outside the Philadelphia area, so it is kind of embarrassing considering I am fairly smart and could have went to a better school if I had more money to pay for it. All in all, make Arcadia your back-up school and commute if u can to save a lot of money. You can throw a party in your back yard more exciting than any I ever went to at Arcadia.E morrison

Prepped for a year to do well enough on the GRE, gain work experience, and crush my interview to gain admission into their physician assistant program…which I did. Even visited the campus before accepting their offer to get an impression of if it was right for me. Well, it was a classic bait and switch [in quality]. The castle ambiance is luring, but the administration and chairs are a soup-sandwich falling apart. Two professors were fine but the rest couldn't separate out their divorced unhappy lives from their duty to teach. Some had a strange understanding of pathophysiology that makes me chuckle 12 years later now that I know better. Plus, they tracked negative feedback on courses by seeing what time your evaluation populated off and when an unnamed new one populated on…so there was no true anonymity. Luckily my academic advisor went to bat for me when I was threatened with expulsion if I ever gave another negative review. It prepared me but I am sure another university would have done so just as well with kinder and more just intent as well as better organization.Nathan Whitfield

I have spent 4 years at this great institution and I plan to stay for a further 3 years in pursuing my DPT degree. Many complain of a lack of activities and in my opinion it's due to the lack of effort many put into finding things to do. I have found it incredibly easy to have fun while enjoying the peacefulness of avoiding inner city sound pollution. If you are pursuing a degree in any biological studies and want close personal interaction with professors, this is the place to be. This university has opened many doors for me and I am grateful. I will be honest in saying that it needs a tune up in some categories, student affairs I'm staring at you, but it succeeds in preparing you for the real world. Finally, if you want to see the world, there is no better place. I have been to London and the Virgin Islands for study abroad and have had many friends that have explored nearly every corner of the world. I graduated from Widener in May, 2015. I was a transfer student to Widener so I was only there for two years, but for the two years I was there, it was great! I was in the B.S. Biology program so I can only speak for the sciences at Widener and I have to say Widener has a great biology program. All my teachers were easily accessible, willing to help me out, and always wanted me to succeed. There are plenty of research opportunities for anyone looking and there are a ton of clubs to get involved in. Widener also has a pre-health adviser (who is the nicest and most dedicated person ever) and pre-health committee who do their utmost to help those who want to pursue professional careers in healthcare; this makes Widener an excellent school for anyone wanting to go into healthcare. I enjoyed all my classes at Widener and felt like I learned a lot there. Widener is very expensive (but it is a private school, what do you except) however they offer a lot of scholarships and grants which reduced my tuition considerably, the cost of attending Widener for me was actually cheaper than West Chester University. Another big plus for Widener is class registration. I know it can be difficult to register for classes at other schools but at Widener they make it very easy for you and most if not all the teachers are willing to sign you into a class in order to help you which is a huge bonus. My only two complaints about Widener is….one: the registrar and bursar office a.k.a Lipka Hall is the most atrocious place on the campus. Mostly everyone there is rude, mean, and not willing to help you at all. Two: the selection of science classes at widener is limited…I wish they offered a greater variety of science classes like pathophysiology, marine biology, or histology…they really only offer core biology classes so if you are looking to take some "exotic" science classes, you will most likely not find them here and if they are offered, they are offered once every other year which sucks. However the classes they do offer, they teach with excellence and you learn a great deal and although the variety of classes is not huge, you will still get a nice mix to pick from. Overall, Widener is a great school with a great faculty who want you to succeed. Widener will give you a sturdy foundation to which to build your career in the sciences. I think Widener is a diamond in the rough. I have toured and visited a lot of schools, and my experience has been great. If you are looking for a big ( Michigan) or really intense ( UCLA) school, then Widener probably is not where you want to be. If you are looking for a good college experience, or you have a degree already from one of those big high pressure schools.. then Widener might offer you a refreshing pace. The professors really know their students. They work with you, talk with you, and the school is very keen on helping those with Learning differences, which to me is huge given that there are so many who have this issue. I did not want a high pressure situation. I did my undergrad at USC and my graduate work, round one at UCLA… Widener was a refreshing change, and in 7 weeks I finish. I thought it was a 1000 percent better than another school that is trying to be an Ivy League ranked school in Philadelphia…. to me, the private NON Ivy League school in Philadelphia was more of a joke. They were more expensive than Widener, you could not even talk intelligently to anyone, and when I ftried to talk about how their tech dept failed students, I was reminded they are a top tier research school which means very little to a student most of the time, and that school was much more expensive than Widener.. I think you really need to examine what you want in a school and then find schools that fit that bill. Widener is a small sweet and friendly school… it is where people care about each other. Widener is not going to be for everyone, but I think in the years to come it might be one of the better schools to embrace. I also want to talk about tuition. Look, it is a private school, and so it is going to cost more than a state school.. However, if you put it next to UCLA a state school that charges $65K to out of state students, or USC that is a little more… or Georgetown, Drexel, Duke, or other private schools, you are not paying as much, and no one should look at the retail price of a college or university because 85% of all students get some kind of financial aid today… I am very happy with Widener! The key for any student is to figure out what it is in a college or university that they want. Widener has some pretty impressive alumni… so it can not be all bad!T. C.A.C.

The bad: 1. DANGEROUS CITY. Chester ,Pennsylvania has a very high crime rate. Nowhere is safe in this city. A student was shot inside Widener's parking lot a couple of years ago. Both the city and neighborhood are terrible. Walking too far off campus can put you in great danger. 2. Nothing to do for fun in Chester. The city is rundown and the downtown area is filled with many vacant buildings and trash. ALL Philadelphia universities are superior to Widener because of their locations. 3. Widener Law school is the worst in the area. Their graduates fall far behind Temple, Villanova, Drexel, and UPenn law schools. Widener Law is low quality. I attended Widener Law briefly in the 80's before transferring to a better law school. 4. Widener University's reputation is bad in the Philadelphia area. The quality of Widener, both undergrad and grad programs, are below average. Widener gets a bad Rep and is out shined by Upenn, Temple, Villanova, Drexel, La Salle, and St.joseph's graduates and alumni. Even West Chester University is superior to Widener. My child was interested in Widener for undergrad, but turned away due to their low quality and reputation. 5. Widener is not challenging. That's why too many people graduated with high GPAs. The school is easy to succeed. They don't prepare their students properly. 6. Widener is too expensive for a college located in a city like Chester. The Good: 1. Widener University isn't that far from Philadelphia, where there are places to shop, work, intern, and enjoy your college experience. CAS advising is a nightmare to work with, very unhelpful and unaccomodating to students needs and situations, unresponsive, high tuition with dont care attitude, who will they assist if not their own students, few professors are below average , its a shame, avoid this university unless you do not have any other option, they simply do not care about the student except at the orientations when they just talk high about themselves.Thomas Turner

This is a truly phenomenal institution. I got my undergraduate degree there over a decade ago, and now I'm studying for my M.S in clinical rehabilitation counseling. It is such an amazing program, with some of the best and knowledgeable professors I have ever encountered. The courses are preparing me to hopefully be one of the best in my field. The University of Scranton was founded as St. Thomas College in August 1888. It is a wonderful university, I was studying MBA. I miss all the professors in this department, they are kind and cooperative with the students. Also, the quality of education there is very high and interesting. I am a 1983 graduate and I felt that my educational experience at Muhlenberg was excellent. It is academically very rigorous and challenging, but also socially responsible while providing a very family-like atmosphere. I have had opportunities to go back to the college recently and the changes to the campus with the new buildings and facilities along with the academic upgrades were truly impressive. Muhlenberg to me should be high on anyone's list looking for a top notch education in a supportive, tight knit academic community environment.Anthony Ware

On Friday May 31 2019 I did a self-guided tour of Muhlenberg College. I was impressed by the building's architecture. Every building has a red door. I wondered what the significance of that. I find that college campuses make for interesting photo subjects and Muhlenberg College is no exception.Richard K
