I started the Respiratory Therapy program in 2007, as a non-traditional student seeking some sort of career in the medical field, but having no background in medicine whatsoever. It was hands down the best decision I ever made in terms of career choices. My instructors and the Program Director were patient, knowledgeable, and so caring. I graduated and was able to find work in the field right away here in Tucson. I loved the culture at Pima Medical Institute so much that I came back 10 years later to teach, helping to educate future RTs in the field. I would recommend PMI to anyone needing more individualized attention than a university setting generally provides, as well as anyone who needs a structured school schedule that is designed to still allow for work.Samandrea Barkley

I whole heartedly recommend PMI-Tucson nursing program. This is not your typical nursing school. Yes, it is accelerated, but they care! I am a student that travels from Phoenix every week to attend school, and both the program director Mrs. Wiebelhaus and the clinical director Mrs. Morelli regularly check-in to make sure I am doing okay. When I got sick and had to miss two weeks of class, my instructors made sure I had all the notes and homework so that I did not fall behind. PMI is a wonderful school to attend for nursing! I absolutely love my instructors, and I know they genuinely care about me and the level of education I receive. So much thought is put into each individual class, and there are many resources to reach out to if you need additional help. Dolphins of the Desert Swimming Academy does an excellent job on addressing the needs of the individual swimmer of all ages and swimming ability. Led by co-founders Geoff Glaser and Jeff Commings, who are both still active in competitive swimming, they provide the kind of coaching and mentoring that make swimmers the best they can be and then more and build their confidence for competitive swimming. We have taken our son to coaches Geoff and Jeff over the years to fine tune and adapt his swimming techniques as he grew up. We find that supplementing our son’s training in a team environment with a one-on-one coaching offered by the Dolphins is an effective approach in making him a better swimmer. Lately, Coach Geoff has been using the GoPro video camera to document our son’s swimming technique with additional commentary to provide a visual tutoring guide. This is an awesome teaching tool and we are glad Coach Geoff is using it. We highly recommend the Dolphins of the Desert Swimming Academy not only for those who are serious about competitive swimming and also for those who wish to learn or improve their skills for recreational swimming.Ponciano Millan

My daughters have been taking swim lessons from Geoff from 2014, my older daughter from age 7 and my young one from age 5. Both of them had zero swimming skills before taking lessons from Geoff. Geoff is an amazing coach. He is always caring, patient, encouraging, and on the top of all these, he really knows how to teach young kids! He has a soothing and positive atmosphere all round him, which immediately won trust for him from my girls. Both of my girls quickly learned the basics of free style and then breast strokes and back strokes (my older daughter learned some of these form Coach Jeff, who is an excellent coach too). My older daughter won a VIP in swimming award in Tucson Racquet Club's summer camp one year, thanks to Geoff who taught her to swim efficiently. They not only teach extremely skilled swimming, they instill respect, discipline and dedication to their young swimmers. The staff and the students at the school are great! They walked me through the entire process, did a brief medical screening. Andrea (instructor) was in the room the entire time when Nick (student) was going through the acupuncture treatment. The acupuncture pins did not hurt at all it felt like a flick. After the acupuncture was done I got a massage to finish the treatment, and I felt great. If I could illustrate what it felt like it would be as if my back with tension and knots was a balloon and after the pins went in all the air from the balloon was released, well all of the tension and knots were released. After the massage was over I was informed about another type of therapeutic massage which is called Tui Na. This was done by nick and once again he did a great job! The treatment consisted of a massage and cupping. Cupping did not hurt at all and the massage was very good. The cupping marks don’t last more than a week and it’s amazing how the real dark cupping marks stay around the area where I had most of my back problems. This was my first treatment of both types of therapy and I will definitely be coming back. I recommend this for anyone with back problems, It WORKS!luis lazo

AVOID THIS PLACE!!!! THEY HAVE NO RESPECT FOR PATIENTS! I was asked and yet not given the option to deny an additional student being present during treatment. I understand that it is a school and students need to learn. As a patient/client it is about my privacy and comfortability. It should be my choice. I should be shown that proper respect and consideration as a person and patient. Especially as a female patient, my choice shouldn't be taken away in regards to my comfortability and privacy. It is beyond unacceptable to force someone into doing something that they are uncomfortable with, especially forcing someone while in a vulnerable position. Teaching school or not, you have a responsibility to respect the patient and what they are comfortable with. Michaelson (director @ institute) and this facility have no respect for patients. My student acupuncturist did amazing! After having my knee surgery I had a lot of residual swelling, stiffness, and pain. The student knew exactly what to do to address these issues. It was my first ever acupuncturist session and I have to say I will definitely be going back! Given that it has taken me months since my surgery to get to this point of pain and inflammation it will probably take me a while to get back to normal however just leaving the session I was feeling 1000 times better. I look forward to my second scheduled appointment. And I’m anxious to try the cupping experience as well.Jessica W

The salt center has been extremely helpful in the transition between high school and college. As an incoming freshman with learning disabilities, I was anxious about how well I would perform academically and adjust to the rigor of college classes. My support specialist Colin Eischeid was a wealth of knowledge and helped me through many struggles that I faced my freshman year and I have become a better student because of his guidance as well as my perseverance. Something I found very helpful was the weekly meetings where Colin and I would discuss what was happening academically and personally that week. During the meetings we would go over grades and strategize about anything that might be going awry. These meetings were something I attribute to my continual growth as a college student as well as my academic success. The resources at the salt center like the individual session math tutoring lab are a godsend especially before quizzes and tests and the staff is always knowledgeable, easygoing, and very helpful. The SALT Center has been a fantastic place for me to grow and share my story about the challenges I face as a student and how I overcame them with the resources and support of the SALT Center. Without the SALT Center, none of this feedback would have been mentioned. This program helped me become successful in my life and many more carers in the future. I find SALT, which stands for Strategic Alternative Learning Techniques, to be extremely useful in helping UofA students learn how to learn, manage time well, and make the most out of their education. Each student is assigned a learning specialist who the UofA determines suits the student's needs best, and, therefore, I would say that SALT is highly individualized. Just visiting to get my daughter moved in for her first year. Spent the day walking around the campus. It is a nice walk with a light rain. Not too hot today. Lots of students, lots of building. The student union is fast food central with all the popular eateries present. Communication with parents could use some improvement. We expected to attend some sessions with my daughter but once we arrived we were informed it was for students only. Closing out the evening watching the marching band in their first public performance. My daughter loves the campus and is looking forward to the start of classes next week.Stacey Brewer

Went to football game and had lots of fun. But I was surprised when I found out the hard way that the concession stands don't take cash. They only take cards. It made it hard because we took cash. Luckily it was a night game because we wouldn't have been able to sit in the sun without water. Also lots of people had to go back to their cars and leave their purses and bags. The Arizona Sands Club is so wonderful. The atmosphere is second to none and the food is phenomenal. Chef Hogg is a master of his trade. I've never had a bad meal here. Tucson High is a great school. There is a wide array of AP and Honors classes, and many of the NON-honors and AP classes are extremely rigorous as well. Beyond the required courses, there are also many electives, and a full group of truly excellent teachers. It is large, but there are many clubs that your student can get involved in (this helps to make it less daunting) and an active PTA that you, as a parent, can be involved in (this helps to show you the ropes of being part of such a large school). We get a number of transfers from other TUSD schools that are more of a pressure cooker, and a number of students who qualify for those other schools who choose THMS because of its great diversity of students and school community. In terms of academics, this public high school may not be the best, or even good in any ways. However, its extracurricular facilities will definitely compensate for the mentioned drawbacks, and if you are willing to get a 4.0 without any effort whatsoever, this is the perfect school for you! This may be a good law school, but beware, after 3 years of pretty hard work and $80-90k invested, you may graduate but the chances of finding a law job that pays more than $40-60k per year, or any law job at all, will be very difficult, assuming you have passed the Bar exam. I am not a College of Law student but the building is very modern and well-maintained. It was the first law school built in the state of Arizona and changed its name in 1962. Took my 5 year old son for a haircut today. Hunter was very friendly, listened to my requests, executed a great haircut exactly how I asked. But the best part was he interacted with my son and made him laugh and made him comfortable. Best haircut he's gotten at the best price. This is just FEEDBACK!!! I understand it’s a school but you need to cater to your customers needs and have better visual communications. Whenever you are closed to public… display a sign of “NO BUSINESS TODAY OR WHICHEVER DAY you will not be opened or when will you resume business” I have gone 3 times to your location including Monday feb 19th, 2018 for Presidents’ Day and no signs of location closed due to holiday. My third try was Tuesday 20th, since I had seen office hours from 8-7pm at 8:15am, 4 students were outside the building waiting to get in and I asked if it was closed but they told me it’s supposed to open at 8 but there is class until 10:30 and no one could do my hair… I have to assume the hours then should be 10:30am not 8am and PLEASE… do not leave the students outside waiting in the cold… as a leader of your organization you want to lead by example not by words! Understand this is constructive feedback and not a way to bash your business. I would have sent you an email but there is not a way to do that on your business card. My previous experiences have been great…. except the last 3 attempts without success. My little sister went here to get a haircut with an appointment set for 3pm. She arrived at 2:30pm so she can be there on time. When 3pm came, they did not see her. They continued to take walk-in’s even though she had an appointment. She reminded them that she had an appointment but they told her, ”You can wait”, and continued to cut other people’s hair. I would not recommend this place to anyone because of their bad customer service. She would have been a regular customer, but I guess they don’t believe in that, or feel they have enough. When someone makes an appointment, they should stick with it, not take walk-ins instead. How rude.Emma Kindred

The campus is landscaped beautifully. However, the staff and a few instructors leave something to be desired. I entered the facility to ask for the Veterans office, and was asked for my ID and given a ticket immediately without having my question addressed first. I waited for a few minutes then asked why I needed a ticket for the office. She then apologized and said she assumed I wanted Veteran benefits. She then proceeded to ask numerous people about the office and directed me to the location. Sadly, it was a small closet room that is unmanned with a few bits of information laid out on the table. Another reason for giving such a low score is the instructors. I like to meet my instructors so I can introduce myself and assess what they expect from me during the course. Unfortunately, I had one instructor ask me why I wanted to meet her. She simply stated the syllabus should have answered all of my questions and if not, then maybe I should enroll in a different online course. Needless to say, I dropped the class. With that attitude I don't need it. I pay my money for quality instructors with a good attitude. No crappy ones. If only the staff and instructors could match the campus view, then they would be on to something. The library is the only department that kept me from scoring this campus even lower.SmartSysta Knows

DO NOT DO DENTAL HYGIENE****** Anyone considering waiting for dental hygiene DONT‼️ waited on a 4 year waitlist and got all my pre requisites done as early as I can, and my start date was 2022. I tried contacting my advisor since I was approaching my start date but turns out they don't work there anymore and I had to go through so many hoops and dead ends to find the contact info for my new one🤦🏿‍♂️ and when I finally talk to them it turns out I need ANOTHER class they added on to the requirements for the associates. Oh And then they also require a COVID VACCINE which I don't have. Basically now I have to re enroll (which I won't be doing) because the school can't be bothered to send an automated email updating requirements to anyone on the waitlist, and wasted 4 years of my life waiting for this.B E

I took several classes online through this campus, and it was pretty easy to find my way around, but it is a huge campus. I recently went there with my son's school on a field trip to watch a performance of The Sun Serpent. It was great! The staff was friendly and organized well. They even let our school take a picture with the cast of the play!!! It was amazing! The kids all enjoyed the show, and learned quite a few new things! The cast even took questions at the end about the show… So they had learned a bit about the ques for theater and the importance of rehearsals… And to go with the flow because sometimes things don't go according to plan. I graduated here in 2009 and this school allowed me to be able to return to school to finish off the few remaining credits I needed to graduate, work 40+ hours a week, and hold down my own apartment at just 18. I was able to take night classes AND online classes. I am forever grateful for the experience I had. They hold school dances, and they graduation experience was beautiful. Thank you STAR! Not a bad school, I had to leave between session cause of family problems. But so far, the teachers are really cool but not all of them know how to take care of the class.
