20 Best Masters Programs In Provo, UT (2022 Updated)

Does anyone get the feeling that many of these 5 star reviews are ingenuine? I attended Provo College for 2 semesters in 2011. I believe at the time they only offered an Associates for nursing, not a BSN. The tuition was very expensive, but they sit you down 1 on 1 with someone who gets you started on loans. At the time it seemed great that they were so helpful, but l later realized it was benefitting them more than me…which is why they make that part of the process so easy for students. I ended up leaving because the financial aid ended after 2 semesters and I didn't want $60k of debt for a 2 year nursing degree. The other thing that I didn't like was even though I was paying them insane tuition, they would have us come to a classroom for remote learning from Utah State University. This means you might take a math course from them and pay 3 grand, or however much it costs for one class, but you are basically doing it online/remote through USU…but you're paying way more than if you just went to USU. I later went to UVU and was able to compare the anatomy course I did at PC versus what students said it was like at UVU, and the course at UVU held students to a much higher standard. After a short personal experience at this college, and the ability to compare it to the other colleges I've attended, I wouldn't recommend it.Derek Drennan

I am about to finish my first year of nursing school. I have really enjoyed my experience here at Provo College. One of the the many things that I like about this program is the faculty. The faculty really gets to know you and you aren't just another number in the classroom. Each of them know me personally and even call me by my nickname. The faculty really wants you to succeed in the program. Tudors are made available to you if you are having problems in a course at no extra cost to you. Currently as a nursing program we are working on a service project, where we are making blankets for a local pediatrics unit. This is a great program that I would highly recommend! Provo College is such a great school!! The faculty, staff, and program administrators are totally invested in the students. I felt a genuine sense of caring from everyone there the first time I visited the campus- even the campus president took time to introduce himself and get to know me a little. The nursing program is amazing – all of my friends in the program had great internships, passed the NCLEX test the first time and have found fantastic jobs they love. The other programs are amazing also. I can't say enough good about this school!!!Staci

School here is nice and if you need something cheap, but UVU reinforces the comment that "University education is becoming less valuable." Half my professors were either teaching here their first time, didn't speak English, or had no expertise in their subject. I passed 2 years of credits by watching videos and drawing pictures during class: not because I'm smart, but because there was no content. Like in high school, many of the professors have 30% percent of their grade centered around attendance. Not participation, but attendance. So yes, I ignored class because everything I needed for an A was provided online. I'm typing this now during Philosophy class, and I am not missing anything. Books are hardly ever used but are "required" according to the professors. They gather dust on my shelf. Most problems here need to be fixed across the nation not just UVU, but I am a very frustrated student in my twenties because I don't know where my money is going. Teachers aren't happy with pay and all have second jobs. The building and resources are really really nice but I rarely need to use them since the internet was invented. UVU in general education has the same quality as Khan Academy except here, there is a physical address they want you to come to. There is a good range of food options but mostly crowded into the same building. Parking is ridiculous and there is no reason to pay $90 a year for the clustered insanity that the school created. Use the darn money to hire a civil engineer for God's sake. Once you pass general education and focus in to better classes, the rooms get nicer and the teaching quality doubles. Don't come here if you're not willing to graduate. Location is fine other than the city planning on the busiest road outside. If you're coming from the south east your drive will be dangerous, traffic is terrible and construction has been in effect for 4 years now. Very annoying. Train station is very convenient and is likely your best choice if you have a transportation method to your nearest station. Students who work feel punished because rent in the area is high, and pay low. Scholarships are handed to those without jobs first, those who aren't working for rent and tuition are the ones handed money from the school. Afternoon/Night classes are poor in options and schedule so working at a volatile job is ever more of a punishment. (Data from a few friends and strangers) Many activities, but the activities most advertised in my buildings were focused for helping women, about guest speakers, for the LGBT community, or cost $15. So I've never been to one, though free lectures and speeches are common. Overall, UVU focuses on medium-to-low education and welcoming everyone with open arms. But once you're here, you may want to transfer to BYU or drop out entirely.Isaac Benge

Coming here was the best decision I have ever made. Every single professor cares about my learning and the fact that the average class size is 23 (I’ve never had a class over 25) makes it so my teachers know me, know my name, know what type of student I am, and some even came to my wedding! I have also been incredibly impressed with the resources. You would have to TRY to fail at UVU, because they truly make it so easy to succeed. From job resources, free tutoring, professor office hours, financial aid and scholarships, and everything in between I honestly feel like every single person I talk to wants me to succeed. The campus is amazing and INDOORS like seriously it is the best part of campus. Shorts in the winter and pants in the summer. Sure parking can be hard, but you are 100% going to find that at any university and it is really only bad after 10am so if you have classes before that you will be fine. The social life is great and the activities are fun and well attended. Free food at all times and tons of on campus food options. I honestly feel like the education I received is worth a million times more than what the tuition is (one of the lowest in the nation for a university). UVU focuses on Engaged Learning, or learning by doing, and most my classes don’t even have textbooks or tests, just projects and resume building it’s amazing. Add that to the fact that it is open enrollment and you can see why it is the largest university in the state. Seriously. Come take a tour at least and see how awesome UVU is.Justine Rupprecht

In all honesty do NOT go here, if you have a better option do not come to this college, it is a over glorified high school. They aren't too expensive which is nice, but they charge many other ways, you must pay to take tests if you are not there the first day, they offer no flexibility when taking classes especially if you are working full time. The professors are 50/50 you either get great ones that work with you, answer quickly to your emails, and are awesome. Or you get awful ones that only two kids pass their class, they will put you on academic probation which I don't get because I am paying to go to school here, so why does it bother them if I failed one class because the professor was awful. In all honesty if you have a better option DO NOT GO HERE! I have never been so frustrated with a school before in my life.Kyra McMillan

Pretty awful education experience. The vast majority of professors are terrible teachers. In fact, it's apparent they care more about their research that the school funds, than the actual students and the material they are teaching. So many teachers seem to have the mindset that "Oh, if these students aren't as passionate about this topic as I am, they are going to fail." Of course, there are a few incredible teachers, but they are few and far between. Not to mention, that a large population of the students act extremely entitled and judgy. Kinda of ironic, considering the school is owned and funded by a church that claims to have the most accurate understanding of Jesus Christ. Attending the school is incredibly cheap, however, to which I will praise. The opportunity to make it through school without any debt is a massive help for many. That being said, plan on changing your major multiple times, because almost every program is extremely competitive and very very difficult to get into. This is a school where dreams are quite literally crushed under the weight of academic pressure and prestige.Jacob Heiner

AMAZING!!! BYU runs one of the largest, if not the largest, comprehensive summer youth sports program in the country. They consistently draw student athletes from all over Utah, the Intermountain West, The Unites States and even have a number of international athletes every year. We have sent our own kids for 5+ years in multiple sports. They love it!! They love the week long sport specific camps, the housing option, the friends, camp counselors, student coaches, meals at the Canon Center and ice cream at the creamery store. This is a large campus with a number of different facilities. I love that there is no charge for the Bean museum or the Paleontology museum. The creamery makes just about the BEST I've cream I've ever tasted. The Wilkinson Student Center has a bowling alley and am extensive good court and more. Love the Arts center and basically find there is too much here to tell about, but it's worth a visit just to explore the campus. Love the bell concerts at noon.Leona Keesling

RMU completely changed my LIFE! I have made lifetime friends, and we have been there for each other not only through school-related things but through everything else that life consists of. Career-wise, I went from going to work every day and being satisfied just where I was to having a desire for growth and excellence in my profession. I enjoy learning more about my craft now and researching the very best evidence-based practices for my clients. During school, I have received several certifications that have increased my knowledge, and many of them I learned about from my classmates. Now, I am the only SLP in my entire state to provide one particular swallowing treatment and one of about seven people to provide two other treatments. In addition, RMU was essential in me learning how to start a private practice and improved my confidence in myself that I can actually run one! Now, I am running a successful practice with five independent contractors. Also, I am in a position where I am almost ready to transition to doing my private practice full time, which will increase my salary even more while having more time with my family. My experience at RMUoHP was amazing. It began with my inquiry and application to the program! From the very beginning, every interaction with all staff members and faculty has always been very professional and positive! All inquires and requests were handled expeditiously. I entered RMUoHP to do one thing: obtain my doctorate in speech-language pathology. I left with so much more. I've been enjoying my time here at my computer career they have helped me get my IT certifications. I like the instructors the have good credentials and are very knowledgeable. They give you instructor-mentor's to help you on you IT journey too. I'm giving it 4 stars cause it's intense and a lot is crammed into 30 weeks and I don't feel like it's set up for the average person to succeed you have to be fully committed to succeed and I've been fully committed. Also I feel like some of the course material for certain topics specifically the Azure SC-900 could have been better but other then that I fully recommend you willing to put in the work.Henry Haze

This has been a great learning experience for me! The Mentors and Instructors have been great and very knowledgeable. Very eager to help you with anything! My only concern was with the length of the courses. I felt they were too short. If your a student here at BYU, this is seriously the best place to study. They have quite a few private study rooms with white boards and all. I felt I was really able to get some work. I know that some of the MBA/MPA students weren't always too happy because I was using the rooms, but hey… you got to do what you got to do. Truly a unique place. Where else can you find the following: 1.The largest concentration of white new balance sneakers in the continental U.S. 2.The lowest ownership of belts per capita in the northern hemisphere 3. A Little Sleezers/Curry/Hot Pocket fusion funk smell 4. A vending machine that sells Arduinos ….all in the same place. I dare you to find a building more worthy of this honor!! Bask in that ambiance and you'll also get a very good industry focused engineering education if you manage to survive with your GPA intact enough to gain employment. Professors admit that it is built to be more difficult than what you will face in the job market to adequately prepare you. Nonetheless, plenty of excellent Professors who care about you, and growing research opportunities. Plus they just made a massive addition to the old building. Go Cougs!Joel Rasmussen

What a great place to become an engineer! I graduated in Mechanical Engineering and loved my time here. The professors, overall, are awesome and are very invested in the students. There are TONS of opportunities for extracurricular learning and fun. There are a bunch of Engineering clubs doing everything from drones to innovation. Professors provide lots of opportunities for students to do undergraduate research. The new engineering building has an excellent, modern technical vibe to it and looks great.Joshua Johnson

Ive been to two high schools because I have moved around provo. And when it comes to which high school is better between Provo and Timpview. Timpview is way cleaner has good food. But the teachers suck. The ones at Provo are not that bad. But overall Orem High School is the best.Preatorian Gormley

Acaydia in the beginning was good never had issues. The last few years it’s hard to schedule an appointment, the girls have attitudes if they don’t want to work with you, they aren’t as through as they used to be. I scheduled an appointment for my anniversary with my husband a month ago and they canceled on me because it was their summer break and they had it set so it was the girls choice to come in. I think as an appointment was set they should come in and earn hours but they won’t. Now I’m trying to find something else for us to do with short notice. I just got a face treatment done with Annika here and loved every second of it! It felt so so good, she did a great job shaping my brows and I am super picky about them. She also did a derma-planing treatment and it was glorious. The jelly mask at the end was my favorite part, but the best thing is that now my makeup and skin products go on sooo smooth. I can’t believe I’ve gone my whole life without knowing about back treatments. It’s like a facial/massage but on your back. So my sister came to Acaydia and had a back treatment done by Jaelan. Probably my favorite building on campus (though I am in the humanities college so I may be biased). Sometimes I'll walk through this building just because the ground floor hallways are so pretty. I feel like I'm in a movie about an ivy league college when I walk down them and look out into the beautiful courtyard with the lovely fountain. I like sitting out in that courtyard too. The view from the couple of balconies is also gorgeous. Whenever I get to have classes in the conference rooms on the upper floors I'm excited since the views from those rooms can't be beat. My professors' offices also seemed really nice, all with great views of either campus or the courtyard. I've had a lot of classes in the basement too, and while they're nice, they're nothing really special and cell service is atrocious. But honestly that helps me focus better in class anyway. In all, it just seems like an extremely well-built building that had a lot of thought put into making it beautiful and functional. The education in zion gallery is also always worth checking out. They have different events like every month or so I think. Great for a FHE activity. I've seen some really cool stuff there.Kelly B

This is where the magic happens! This is my favorite building on campus — it's nice to be at a place where the Humanities and Languages get a really nice building rather than some old nasty place! The courtyard is beautiful, and the 4th floor is a great place to read or study. Tons of great views of the mountains. I've also been told that the design of the pavement covering both the inner courtyard and the space in front of the building is based on Michaelangelo's courtyard "Piazza del Campidoglio" in Rome. This is one of the newer buildings at BYU and while the back and sides are rather plain the front looks quite nice. There isn't too much to do here besides visit the exhibits on the upper floors where you can look out the gorgeous (and huge) bay window. It's reasonably quiet so you might be able to study there too. There isn't a lot of seating though. Also be aware that you'll definitely lose cell phone service in the basement.Brandon Blatter
