Ohmygoodness, I have been at Grace Christian University (formerly known as Grace Bible College) for 4 years now and I love it! Coming from a pretty sheltered background, there is so much I have learned about the world, the church, people, my passions, and my worldview during my short time at Grace (and there is still so much more I have been learning!). Honestly, there have been quite a few challenges even here at Grace – afterall, this world will never be perfect until Christ returns (well, this is what I believe) 🙂 I would recommend this fine, challenging, growing institution to anyone who is looking to further pursue their relationship with God, find their identity in general/with Christ, anyone looking for a small-sized campus, and anyone excited about traditions/community on campus. Again, there is so much that I have learned from and been challenged by even within the Grace community. Something that someone very wise once told me, "If it doesn't challenge you, it won't change you" (Brian Sherstad, 2017), has stuck with me ever since I have visited and it is something that continues to encourage my growth mindset even to this day. Best little Christian college. Perfect size. Fantastic, invested, and very friendly professors and faculty and coaches. Loveliest little campus, great food, nice weight room, lovely little Kahawa Cafe (good coffee!!), impressive and dedicated sports programs, TONS of fun on-campus/off-campus events… Very nice and convenient freshman dorm setup; lots of other housing options too. The library is incredible– great place to hang out with friends and study; very wide array of books and Grace history too. Grace is pretty affordable in the way of private Christian colleges. Pretty solid theology too. There's a very fun, loving, close-knit community here at Grace striving to glorify God and serve Him together! I began my journey with Grace Bible College over 2 years ago, and have been amazed at the support I have received from this institution. Grace is a place where people come alongside not to just help you earn a degree, but to help you better your life. Amazing faculty and staff! Being a smaller college students are not treated like a number but part of the AQ family. It is a great place to work with a strong sense of community. The grounds are always kept up by the amazing grounds team. AQ prides themselves on sustainability and it shows! A beautiful campus with many alumni around all the time for good reason. They have a great coffee shop on campus and amazing sports games, if your into that. Let's just do this in bullet points for simplicity. – My best friend was assaulted by his upstairs neighbor in Knol. After they decided not to press charges, Campus Safety told him and his wife to stay away from their own apartment building until the offender had moved out. That's victim blaming. They should have posted a campus safety officer outside the building at all times until the offender left. The victims shouldn't have to leave their own home. – Campus Services is 100% incompetent. Our stovetop fan broke, so they unhooked it, now every time we cook it steams up our whole apartment. My friend's A/C broke last year, so they literally just cut the cord. Two years ago my door frame broke entirely off because the apartment building was in such disrepair, so they just nail gunned it like 30 times. 95% of all the repairs they do are wrong or not done at all. – Chapels are TERRIBLE. I can't tell you how many times I've gone to chapel and not even heard a single verse read. And you can get out of chapels by paying a ten dollar fine per one you miss, so basically they're saying "If you're rich, you don't need to do this mandatory thing". It's like buying indulgences. – They are putting $1.2 million dollar stained glass windows in the new chapel, but the new media facilities we were promised were scrapped almost entirely. This isn't hearsay; they have stated the cost of the new windows repeatedly, including in chapels. As a consolation prize, they gave the audio and video departments a little bit of money to improve the already existing facilities, AKA the recording studio that isn't soundproof and the film department without a proper soundstage. The science department facilities are also deplorable, though I can't speak to specifics as I am not in that department. – The "student contract" is hilariously misguided. Telling students over the age of 21 they can't have a single beer off campus is insane. Do you know how ridiculous it feels to turn down a drink when your PASTOR offers you one? It's not a university's place to punish their students. If the quality of the spiritual content at the university improved, it would naturally attract students with morals the school agrees with. I've given Cornerstone every benefit of the doubt. I was a leader in their "Terra Firma" program, I was an RA, and I've met with the school leaders about the issues I see on several occasions. They consistently have let me down and done inane, nonsensical things to distance me from the school. When people ask where I go to school, I CRINGE when they ask whether they should send their kid there, because I have to be the one to say "No, don't waste your money, if I could do it again I absolutely would not have gone to CU." This is not an indictment of the church. I love the Body of Christ, I love my local church, I love God, and I think Cornerstone is doing a terrible job of representing Christ to the world. Cornerstone gets two stars instead of one because of a handful of the professors. To name a couple, I was educated exceptionally by Randy Miller and Pete Muir of the Media department, and Doug Mohrmann and Andy Smith of the Bible department.Tanner Ward

I've had a great experience at Cornerstone. I believe the professors truly care about our success and they challenge us to think critically about the world we live in. CU does a great job with incoming freshmen and making sure they feel welcome, but there's also campus activities that take place to entertain everyone else. There isn't much of a "party" scene, but I personally like that. We still manage to have a good time on the weekends; we just think of other things to do other than drink away stress. Student Activities hosts events: dances (sometimes downtown, which is really nice), game nights, etc. Dorms also have their own events, like powderpuff, craft nights, Capture the Flag, etc. Also, there's extracurricular clubs and intramurals that keep people busy. Not to mention how there's usually some kind of sporting event that can people can go to. I also really like how we have the option of going to chapel three times a week. There are so many people around the world that would LOVE to have the chapel that CU has and the option of publicly worshipping as a community. They sing songs that are biblically sound (and even popular hymns) and they read scripture occasionally during the worship. The worship teams are ran by students, so it kind of depends on the day. I also have really enjoyed the speakers; we once had a guy come in that works in the prison ministry and his story was really neat. Overall, college is going to be what you make it. If you don't like making new friends and just expect them to fall into your lap, you may struggle. Mostly everyone is friendly and I love the community, but if you isolate yourself from people and only depend on your roommate being your go-to friend and that doesn't happen (luckily my roommates were great my freshmen year)..you really can't blame the school for that. They have great teachers and they try to create a welcoming environment for everyone, no matter what denomination or background you come from. There is less clubs and majors offered (although I think they have a decent variety) than state schools, obviously, but for a private school I think they do their best.Danielle Nelson

Cornerstone has a very good program for adult learners (PGS -Professional and Graduate Studies). Being married with three children, having two jobs, and now being full-time in school, the online accelerated cohort program has been great. It has allowed me to continue to purse my educational goals while not being too overwhelming. Some of the instructors are better than others, but the coursework appears to be set-up similar in all of the courses. This means that all of the courses have a similar feel and there isn't a lot of adjusting from course to course. Grading seems to be mostly left up to the instructors, so that is the only part of the program that takes some adjusting every class. Most classes are five weeks long and incorporate weekly discussion boards, a lot of typed papers, and a group element (normally a project). Each course tries to incorporate a Christian element, normally in the form of discussions, the readings, and in your writing. I also attended GRCC and I have seen some other reviews that said Cornerstone's coursework was easy. Having taken similar classes at both GRCC and Cornerstone (for example, accounting) and I would say the content is similar. For somebody entering into the PGS program like I am, I would suggest being good at writing, because you will be doing a lot of it. I have had a good experience so far at Cornerstone and I recommend it to others on a routine basis.MC

I plan on transferring here to finish my MBA and so far the institute has been awesome, very helpful and informative. One of a few schools if you meet undergrad GPA requirements (3.4+) for their program you can skip the GMAT and gain entry into their program. Extremely fair cost of attendance @ roughly $570 per credit hour. Look forward to continuing this relationship! Oh and @ Nicole Marriott are you really leaving a poor review because you signed up for college and agreed to pay for it and are being held accountable for your debt? Seriously? If you sign up at any institute, private or public, once you sign the paper you are held accountable for the debt you enter. What is wrong with people these days? The professors are amazing. You really have a feeling that they want you to succeed. Once you graduate they really just drop you. I tried working with career services and they only met once then dropped you. Really disappointed in the behavior of no longer a check coming in we no longer care. I have an amazing work history with several degrees but this new degree is transferring over to something new. So I really wanted help in the job search and advice in moving into something different. I wonder what their actual job placement percentage is. I am just so disappointed because it really could be a great school and the professors really have a passion for teaching.Natalie Roe

I attended night classes to try and finish my degree as an adult. I am told that classes during the day are very different. My experience was incredibly frustrating. The professor of my computer class struggled to log in to her computer and often asked me to help answer questions for the class. I took a speech class and the professor did not grade students on an even scale. The highest grade in the class was the student that wrote her entire speech and then read it without ever looking up. That is only a couple. Almost every in seat class was poorly taught.Shanleyhan

You're going to overpay MASSIVELY for an education CC can give. The only thing I credit this school for is the friends I still have from there. They will compromise on Christian values to be more politically correct. And avoid having firm stances on issues to appease all. Constantly changing what the Bible says and church doctrine for PC culture. For classes, 90% you'll never need or use and the professors use it as their time to spread their extremely radical political beliefs. Adding, 90% of professors are hired based on their work in the field and not for teaching ability. Making you buy their expensive textbook for a class and never using it once. You must have their opinions or risk being failed for no reason. By trying to please everyone they make everyone mad and they wonder why enrollment has gone down drastically. Which is also due to the fact of them taking away classes and value while hiking up tuition rates. Lastly, they say they do everything they can to help their graduates succeed. Laughable. Almost no support at all and don't prepare anyone for the real world. For the support after college. That's just them trying to get you to send them more money after you wasted 100k there. Charged me 50.00 dollars for not obtaining a new parking pass (220.00) in my second year. I was not aware I needed to renew it as they do not send out any correspondence to advise students of this. Being a low income student, I sent a vulnerable genuine appeal to the safety department. They denied my appeal and when I asked to talk with someone in person about my situation they simply forwarded me the handbook over and over… for an institution that preaches grace, and compassion, they certainly don’t practice it when it comes to money. My husband was on the nursing wait list for ten years. He is a veteran and a hard worker. He was told the RN wait list was 2-3 years by Sue Helmer. The professors goals are to make students repeat classes for monetary gain. This is what happened to my husband and several of his classmates. Failure is encouraged at this school. Students teach themshelves. My husband have retaken most of his classes because some of his teachers could not find proof of his final grades. Also the office lost his important paper work. He was marked down for failing the classes, and had to retake them over. Cora Beute, and Michelle Richter refused to look into their system, and marked him absent for classes when he was present. The financial aid department charged him twice for many of his classes.The administration took advantage of him having auto pay for classes. He was overcharged several of times. One thing after the next. My husband is now attending Grand Valley University. He had to retake more than seven classes over because some of GRCC classes are not transferable. A bunch of time wasted. My husband regret going to GRCC. I will recommend anyone to run from this scum of a place.护士Diane

Admission staff isn't very helpful. I'm being told on the FAFSA and by others if you live alone you do not have to fill out the parent information field just to call up here and have them tell me that's not the case. I'm in my twenties with my own place. Not seventeen just getting out of HS. I graduated five years ago so why do I need parent info? This is the latest addition though to a list of complaints. Just finally annoyed enough to leave a review. I've been considering for the last few years going to school and I have not committed yet due to personal circumstances. But every time I do seriously set my sights on it I find myself frustrated with the people I end up speaking with. Only giving two stars because I'm hopeful that my experience with the education side of things will be a lot better than all the tedious steps you have to do just get in and get assistance.A. My short experience has been good here. Although parking can be a mess, and often times people's card will not allow them to leave (it lets them in though) and the person on the telecom won't let them out, they want them to back up (when there's 20 cars bumper to bumper in line waiting to leave) and come inside. Or they can pay 4x the regular amount via credit card and then they'll be able to leave right then and there. Unnecessary hassle, a joke considering they're getting thousands of dollars every DAY simply from parking fees alone. Should attend common sensical decency meeting once a year.Patrcia Clemons

The only program I can speak for @ this school is the Graphic design program. Coming here was one of the best choices I made. I felt unready and unprepared with only an associates and now that I am graduated with a BFA my portfolio and my body of work within it perfectly shows my design style and reflects my abilities. Many of the professors are willing to do anything to help you succeed, all you have to do is initiate that conversation and where you feel you need help. Like any school tho their are a few professors who are only their for a paycheck. However I gave the school 4 stars not because of my experience with the program but because of the admissions offices. The people who work on the 7th floor are some of the rudest people I have ever met in my life. Even many of the professors have admitted to not being impressed with the admissions office personal because of issues not being handled properly or unprofessionally. Likewise the school does not have a career center. Though a lot of kids don’t need a career center as KCAD offers many opportunities to network and work with local business’ in the graphic design department, many students in different programs could benifit from such a office where jobs might be tougher to find. Overall, the school offers a lot of great opportunities within the city of Grand Rapids and the GR community knows the work that comes out of the school is high quality. So you have a slight upper hand in the community because of the name on your degree when graduating. So take advantage of the schools connections when given the opportunity.Kelly Hart

A very unprofessional university with under qualified professors. Along with being under qualified, the professors are also rude. Professors often talk down to students and at one point called my classmate “stupid.” Grades are based on the professors’ own opinions rather than quality of work. When trying to fight a grade I didn’t deserve I was treated as though I wasn’t a priority and it took weeks for them to even respond. Dorms, parking, and a cafeteria aren’t provided at Kendall causing a major inconvenience for anyone who doesn’t live right in Grand Rapids. When I went to Kendall their computer classes were state-of-the-art and better equipped than the college I attended in Los Angeles. They have a great career board and I was actually hired by Marvel Comics as a colorist before I got my certificate of completion. One of my friends was also hired at Steelcase prior to graduating. The computer fundamentals I learned gave me a competitive edge in the booming graphic design industry. If you are an artist or multimedia enthusiast and are trying to decide on a geat college to go to I can't recommend Kendall highly enough. The staff and facilities are astounding.Lars Canty

I've been taking some classes at GRCC and I use the free weight rooms a few times a week. I'm glad that's available for me since I don't have too many other good options right now, but it's really difficult to train well with their limited resources. They just don't have a lot of the supplies most gyms and schools have. The weight rooms are on an upper floor and are just in old racquetball courts, three separate rooms.Zachariah Vruwink

Ok size gymnasium. The newly renovated weight room isn't open due to building issues. The so called fitness room is tiny, with very little equipment. The machines are sub par at best. Not a fan of the techno gym equipment, it isn't anything special and some of the pull down equipment started losing screws as I was using it. This place is terrible. Going there in the spring or summer will give you a heat stroke. I'm speaking mainly for the weight lifting area. The weightlifting area is crammed in a few old racquetball courts, no air flow whatsoever. Most of the equipment is old and very warn down. I attended this school for a short time. The teachers were very rude and very very often let personal opinions get in the way of educating students. If you worked your hardest but a teacher's opinions differed from your own, you would get a bad grade simple as that. I've been told by other students that they are also very homophobic. When I decided to drop out they made the process a headache. One of the staff there named Tom told me I would not be able to be successful in my life without his school. I then immediately dropped out. Don't send your kids here if you want them to succeed in film, let them get experience and please look elsewhere. Compass College is a fantastic school for students who want to actually work in the film and media industry. The amount of hands-on experience you receive is a huge deal, especially for how affordable the program is. As a small marketing firm that has worked with Compass College alumni, the work ethic, attitude, and skills these students have is exceptional. Great and supportive staff across the board. I like the small class size so you can actually speak with your instructor and get hands on help to learn the material. Some of the assignments through RossEdge were more focused on personal growth than the basics of the program I came in to learn about which I found frustrating on occasion. I have been in extensive psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy, but I have never experienced anything as powerful as the breathwork that Sam guides her clients through. Sam has a true gift for healing and connecting to others. She is kind, warm, and incredibly knowledgeable. Both her energy healing and her breathwork sessions have me feeling uplifted, light, and calm. I’ve only had one breathwork session so far, but I will definitely be going back for more. I was a little skeptical at first and was not sure what to expect. Connecting to my breath has been helpful for anxiety, but I was not ready for how euphoric and light I would feel after. I’ve experienced some significant trauma in my past and within the last year and this session helped me release some of that trauma. For the rest of my life, I will be a very proud alumni of Northpoint Bible College | GR. Northpoint truly exists to equip people for the ministry while not inhibiting their involvement at their local church during the course of their degree. At an affordable cost, any student is able to maintain decent working hours, involvement at their local church, and other activities while not stressing out about the impending financial weight that most colleges typically give. Currently serving in the ministry, I have noticed numerous benefits of attending Northpoint Bible College. First, as mentioned above, I am working debt free. This has proven to be advantageous for personal life decisions and my marriage. Second, many times I have used the biblical training I received to put quality sermons together, lead people through difficult questions, and simply be a good supportive pastor on staff. In light of current culture, Northpoint prepares you well. Third, there is a degree of health I have noticed in all Northpoint alumni. Whether is be at a convention, conference, or simple get together, I am always pleased to see the wisdom, love, and Christ-likeness of Northpoint alumni shining through. Northpoint students are awesome. The professors, administrators, and other employee's care at making Northpoint a premiere college institution. The classroom is a place of honesty, love, growth, and learning. There are countless opportunities to build community and get to know many of the other students. The Monday chapel service is wonderful. The homework will force you to grow and will take effort, but it is worth it in the end. If you are wanting to go into the ministry, or begin your college career with a Christian foundation, I can assure you that Northpoint will check every box. As a student ministries pastor myself, if I ever have a student wanting to go into the ministry, I can with great confidence recommend Northpoint. Furthermore, should I ever be in a position to hire a pastor myself, Northpoint will be the first place I call. Needless to say, Northpoint deserves every bit of this five star review!Tyler White

Northpoint was an amazing place to learn and grow. The faculty are theological diverse enough to give you more than one perspective, without ever straying away from God's truth. The culture is amazingly welcoming, with tweaks constantly being made to make sure that growth doesn't effect how individually welcome each person feels. Time there may not be easy but it is so incredible worthwhile. While the school is not necessarily well-tailored to the nontraditional student, it is still something that anyone who is willing to put in the effort can make work (and the school is surprising understanding of life as long as you are putting forth that 100%) I give 4 out of 5 stars just because it was difficult at times to work out certain things as a nontraditional student (in this case late 20s/early 30s with bills and a full time job to juggle) but it truly was an amazing place and I would recommend it to almost anyone.Lindsay VanPolen

I have been attending Northpoint as a student for three years and I absolutely love the atmosphere. It is very family focused and staff works hard to make sure students are getting as much as they can from each class. I have never been stretched in such a healthy way before. Classes are balance of practical skills and challenging experiences. I am getting my hair done and the girl is absolutely fabulous, the problem is she informed me on all kinds of horror stories of mistreatment of students by staff. I was so looking forward to going to Paul Mitchell myself and now that will NOT be happening. One girl was cutting an elderly ladies hair and made her cry and left one of the teachers to fix it, this poor old lady was heartbroken and after she left I whitnessed the girl and her friends LAUGHING about how upset she was. I am honestly appalled by the staff and some of the students. I wanted to so bad to go here but I will never be attending this school. Not to mention my girl was not allowed to FINISH my hair, that’s ridiculous.marlee church

I've had long hair forever. I've been growing out my hair color as my natural color is now grey. With my hair about halfway down my back, I needed a big change . I decided to go shorter and get rid of the old colored hair. I was really nervous, but I didn't need to be. Kaitlyn totally understood what I was looking for and we were totally on the same page. This is a decent place. The staff are somewhat friendly because it's their job but they always help out, every event they have is just outstanding. "Finding Fusion Global Academy has been the silver lining to our year and such a blessing! This school has such a unique 1:1 and different approach to teaching middle/high school, that it truly is in a class all by itself. Our experience was nothing short of incredible academically. Our son felt “educationally stimulated” in a way he had never thought possible before and was looking forward to classes and homework! Because of the individual approach and plan for each student, our boys were able to do schoolwork well beyond their grade, and not feel “stuck” in a grade level specific class. We found the teachers to be creative, supportive, communicative, and flexible in their approaches to teaching our children. They all did a great job keeping interest levels high and our boys engaged in each subject. Our boy’s growth and confidence levels are visible, both academically and with self-advocacy, this past year. The staff and administration were attentive, thoughtful, and took every bit of feedback or need into consideration as actionable items. The social-emotional team grew with us, to meet our families’ medical needs and flexibility. We always felt supported. There is a distinct interest at FGA in having guardians/parents involved, and they provided scheduled events to support this. Although this is a fully virtual school, it is unlike any other virtual experience and should be considered if your child has any special scheduling, medical or academic needs, in a quiet and positive setting. Fusion Global Academy (FGA) has been a game changer for us and I recommend it without hesitation. We have a 13 year old twice exceptional daughter, who, even before COVID was exhibiting signs of school refusal and struggling socially. FGA pulled her back to a healthy place. We are going on our 3rd year with them and she is absolutely thriving. When we started I was truly scared whether she had a future. Now, I know she has a bright one! My kiddo is presently splitting her time between one of Fusion's in person campuses and FGA, and we have no refusal issues. She has perfect attendance. She absolutely loves all of her teachers. They weave her special interests into the curriculum and really engage her in discussion. She looks forward to her classes with enthusiasm and actually wants to connect with her peers in the social programming that is offered. Further, the flexibility of the program has allowed us to schedule therapies outside of school, which has just made our girl a stronger, capable person that can advocate for herself. My husband and I give FGA an A+ for their teachers, the challenging curriculum, the flexibility in scheduling, their administration, and perhaps most importantly the heart of the school.M. L.

FGA has been a blessing for our family. There is no other school like this around! We are so happy that we stumbled upon this program last year. Due to the pandemic and our families' medical needs, FGA provides our children with a safe environment that is academically challenging and helps keep our children engaging with friends and teachers from all over the world! Our children are thriving in the 1:1 environment. FGA teachers are creative, captivating, supportive, and challenge our students to new levels. One more bonus is having access to the Homework Cafe. Our children have a place to get help on their homework and a place to just socialize. The kids are not having to stay up all night long worrying about understanding how to finish their assignments. They have more time to spend with family and do the things that they love to do. I can guarantee that our children are more aware of our world now after joining the FGA community. I began receiving treatments from Lisa in October of 2021 and am grateful to say I have been seeing her on a consistent basis since. I had major back surgery 11 years ago and have dealt with steady chronic pain since then; while the surgery was successful for the stability of my spine, it left me with many nerve and muscle issues. I sought care when I was at a low and felt as if my body was dying, at the age of 45… I was miserable. I sit at a desk all day and felt my body becoming stiffer from having such a sedentary lifestyle. I had a constant knot near my right shoulder blade that I attributed to using a mouse all day while working on the computer. Deep hip pain also became an issue for me – I thought for certain this was menopausal bursitis. I've called Lisa the chiropractor of the muscles because she knows what needs to be adjusted and works the muscles into their natural place. Not only do her treatments stop the muscles spasms and work out painful nuances, they stick. My hip pain is virtually nonexistent today, also the nerve pain and numbness I had on my outer thighs since my back surgery is gone. She is very knowledgeable with the body and how the muscles work together; it helps that she has strong hands with a keen ability to locate the source of the issues. Unlike any treatments I've had in my life, her ability to get the stress out of my shoulders and neck has given me relief to the point of stopping a many years usage of Excedrin for headaches. Not only would I recommend Lisa for your care, I would excitedly encourage it. I feel good again and am enjoying my life without the daily pain.Jessie V

Lisa makes you feel very comfortable. She's very warm and truly cares about your health. Physically, she helped me tremendously with persistent neck, shoulder pain and headaches. She also suggests supplements and herbs to help with ailments along with treatment. Through reiki sessions, Lisa helped me to let go of the stress I was hanging on too and look deeply at myself, reconnect with who I am and what's important to me. Lisa has done a great job doing deep tissue massages. She finds the points of tension in I hold in my neck, shoulder and lower back and gets deep down into the tissue to work them out. Mrs. Pulera is the best! She always pushes you to strive for your best. She will always be there to talk to if you want to confide in her or just simply have a causal talk. Oh, and she'll figure out your class and college stuff too since that is of course part of your job. Which she does well by the way! She will make sure you are put in the right classes suited for you and that you get all the help you need to succeed in your classes. Overall, Mrs. Pulera is one of the best at Nexus! She and the others who work here understand that high school is high school, but they make it not so horrible by giving you help in any way that you need and giving you plenty of tools to help you succeed!Natalie Walejewski
