20 Best Masters Programs In Cleveland, OH (2022 Updated)

Ursuline College states the college has the highest academic and graduation rate in their nursing program. Ursuline College is not the only nursing program where students are learning their curriculum on becoming a successful nurse. I've known previous and current students who have graduated from other schools that offered the nursing program for an Associates or a Bachelors degree, and have moved on to successful careers at major hospitals in the greater Cleveland area. My experience here in my first semester has been a disaster. On my very first day, I attended a class called First Year Semester, and I had to drop out of it because during a group session with Dr. Johnson who literally accosted and debased me right in the front of the class, all because I expressed my opinion on the challenges of being flexible when you're working and collaborating with your peers. That has left a very bad taste in my mouth. I am eager to step away from this college, so I can resume my studies elsewhere. Finally, Ursuline College is no better than the average college in the great Cleveland area.Bella Rose

Beautifully landscaped in suburban Cleveland, this Catholic college offers degrees with a distinguished reputation. Recommend the dorms be renovated; however, all other buildings on the college campus are utilized efficiently or re-purposed. The Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland reside on the grounds in their Mother House. A tour is a must to really appreciate this collegiate gem in the realm of women's higher education.Krista Thomas

Love the professors and the classes are interesting and engaging, the staff is beyond nice and even the strangers too! I am an alumni. B.S. Chemical Engineering 2008, M.S. Biomedical Engineering 2012. I chose CSU as my undergrad school over Case Western because Case is ridiculously expensive and I received a full scholarship to CSU. My mother told me I could choose whatever school I wanted but if I passed the scholarship up for 40k+ a year in debt she would kill me. Thanks mom, you were right as always! The Chemical and Biomedical Engineering departments are outstanding. Great faculty, small class sizes, professors that legitimately care about the students but also won't put up with BS from students that aren't taking their own (or their classmates') education seriously. The head of the BME department at the time had a major impact on my life. He personally took interest in helping me get a full scholarship during the second year of my M.S. (Choose Ohio First scholarship), helped me land a Teaching Assistant position AND a fantastic internship. THANK YOU! CSU is not perfect though. I had some bad professors (and also excellent ones) in the math and physics departments. That is hard to avoid at any school. Many of the school departments are much, much bigger than mine so you may lose some of the personal interest from professors when your graduating undergrad class is more than 12 like mine. I tried to make use of the career center multiple times but they were not helpful in job searching. Also the Fenn College of Engineering (now the Washkewicz College of Engineering) building is woefully old and dated. It's so bad that in my second year in 2006 a metal fence had to be put about 10 – 15 feet in front of the building facade so no one would be injured by the crumbling concrete. I wish I was joking. The engineering labs were also filled with old equipment, the classrooms were missing technology that is standard in other schools like projectors. Note that this was all before the very generous donation from Mr. Washkewicz so I hope things have improved. The only other complaint I have is that my graduation requirements changed a couple times during my B.S. and I had a VERY difficult time finding out if I was on track for graduation. In fact I wasn't sure that I was going to graduate until I got confirmation about a month before graduation! Even with these complaints I had a great experience at CSU, which is why I went back for my M.S. after briefly considering Ohio State University. It was my professors and department that made the decision easy, they had a great positive effect on my life and I owe a lot to them.Jim

I'm a business student currently in my third year at CSU (transferred from Kent State) and have nothing but good things to say about this school. The campus is beautiful and right in the center of Downtown, giving you easy access to tons of interesting things to do in Cleveland. The general vibe of the campus is very laid back and friendly, and despite what other reviews seem to say, this is a very liberal/progressive and diverse school with many students of all walks of life. I feel I have received a perfectly adequate education at CSU, as someone who cares mainly about getting ready for a career and moving into the business world. There are good professors and bad ones, but the majority of them have been very likeable and knowledgeable. Many of my business professors have lots of real world experience and many years working in their field. I cannot comment on the other departments, but the business school is excellent and has many career services available to students. As a commuter student I love the RTA pass they provide, so I don't have to worry about driving and parking downtown (yes, their parking situation is pretty terrible here). Finally I'd like to say shame on the idiots who are giving my school 1-star reviews because of a faux pas made by the administration. The first amendment comment was misinformed, but it's far from supporting the offensive poster. Anyone trying to paint CSU as anti-LGBTQ because of that poster debacle is ignorant.Steven Barnes

I love Cleveland State. I am a biology pre-med major and the department is great. However, if you live in the dorms, don't plan on getting your mail anytime soon. It takes at least 10 days added on to the normal mail time to receive any type of letter or package. I ended up just getting a P.O. box at a local post office. The education and clubs are great. There are so many great opportunities here to take advantage of. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone who wants to live in the city and get a great education.Madison Chapanar

My daughter is a student, she and other students in her major, Grahpic Design, are having problems. The issue is that the registrar/academic services messed up the audit sheets the students receive when they enroll into their courses for their major. The ProPractice course is actually offered both Fall and Spring semester but because the sheet doesn’t say that, and only says it’s offered in the Spring, all the juniors that are required to take the course sign up in the Spring. This causes more students than there are seats. All because the registrar/academic services made a mistake on the papers. They have classes in a variety of subjects and plenty of equipment. The vending machine food is better than average and they sometimes show movies. You don't have to be enrolled as a full or part time student to take classes. There are some classes available for high school students.Naima Omar

BW provides a well rounded education. With that being said, your program of study will most likely consist of general education courses. BW degree programs usually do not provide a focused study on your major. Instead, the focus is liberal arts. I attended BW for a short time and majored in Criminal Justice. During that time I discovered that most of the classes for my major had little to nothing to do with Criminal Justice. They were mostly liberal arts courses. This is true of many other degree programs. No matter what your major, you will only take a few classes that are actually relevant to your major. In summary, if you enjoy a small campus atmosphere, if you are satisfied with a degree that does not provide a focused study on your major, if you want some prestige on your degree, and if you are willing to spend $900 per credit, then Baldwin Wallace is certainly the place for you.Tracer Films

It's a good school and the campus is really nice. Best thing is probably the professors. I loved 95% of my professors. Worst part of the school is the surrounding area. Lakewood University has been one of the greatest online experiences I have ever.had. From the ease of navigation through my courses the online library, how easy it is to communicate with my professors, and student services is hands down the best interactive services I have had at any school I have attended. I will be completing my Bachelors program soon and I will also be pursuing my Masters there as well. I have finally found a University that I feel supports me without me having to feel like I don't understand how to navigate from day to day and from class to class because my academic progress is my pace not from semester to semester with expectations that impede my ability to keep up because I am employed and a single father of 2 as well. From the time I started with my admissions advisor my time at Lakewood and been an easy breeze as far as anything the school offered or had control over. I had to stop and go back, that was easier than it was went I went to a different school. Having access to my assignments, instructors, and various staff members was refreshing to say the least. I majored in Marketing and then went on to get my MBA in this lovely little building. The Bloomberg room and high-tech classrooms are great for hands-on learning and team projects. The faculty in the school are very experienced in their fields and are happy to share real-world examples during class to help make the material stick. Recently they added large touch screens, mics, and cameras to many of the rooms, which has been a game-changer for online/in-person teaching during covid.Heather

Beware when you try to do the online Bachelor program at this university. The staff members are not reliable at all. I called so many times about my transcript and nobody called me back for several days. Finally they said the staff who worked on this was on vacation and would work on it when she comes back. I called the other time for technical support and again , nobody picked up the phone and nobody called back for several days. When I called the office in Seven hills try to talk to someone, they put me on hold for over 10 minutes and they were hoping that I was going to hang up the call. The whole system in this university is very unorganized. Most staff there don't have work ethics at all. If you are going to choose a school to go, stay away from this one. They only want your money and they definitely don't want to answer any questions or offer any assistance to you.云知晓

This was my first time seeing a concert at The Cleveland Institute of Music. The school is filled with some of the most talented musicians from around the world, taught by members of internationally reknown Cleveland Orchestra. Mixon Hall, where the performance was tonight, is a beautiful airy concert hall. It's visually stunning, the stage overlooks a lush garden. Acoustically it is clear, if not slightly dry. This is a great place to see world class music performed at a fraction of the cost (if not outright free). Check back to see what they've got on the calendar!Ben H

This beautiful campus nestled in a quiet residential suburb, close to the main arteries of traffic to access Cleveland, Ohio's cultural, sports, and entertainment venues. It has coordinated architecture, lovely landscaping, and is well and artfully lit. Neighbors frequent the campus as much as students do. During COVID there are fewer people, of course, but everyone seems to be responsible and follows the health guidelines. The only drawback is when driving on campus, because there are no more than two entries, one wastes a lot of gas because of the traffic pattern laid out. Also, there are 3 triangle-shaped marked to indicate each lane, over the whole campus, but someone painted these arrows 180 degrees from normal. The arrows point AT the driver, instead of indicating the direction one is headed. Also, of all the Universities and colleges in the area (at least 10), this is the ONLY one with just two highly guarded,, rigorous checkpoints by security. One wonders what they must be guarding. This is a lovely campus, with two of the US best Business (Boler) and Communications (Russert) departments. I go to JCU many times a week and am never bored.Pamela N.

Nearly a decade ago, I set foot on the campus of John Carroll. I thought I didn't want to go the university that was so close to home (I'm from Shaker). But soon, I discovered that Carroll is a school where you can find professors who are deeply concerned about your educational experience, and you, yourself, as an individual. I received a business education from true professionals in their field, not merely academics, and thrived in the boundless study abroad opportunities that Carroll provides. Excellent University. Has a great Leadership Development minor program. Also has one of the top rated business programs in the country for a regional University. No masks required in the classrooms. Update: for the start of the 2022 fall semester things are pretty much back to normal dividers are down in the classrooms masks are not required. The professors were biased and use techniques to belittle students. On the website, it is laughable that the non-discriminatory is displayed. Moreover, that school is a sham! When I declared my major for Business Administration; I was told that the major just listed as an option for entrance in the business school but it is not an actual major. I was told to declare my major in Accounting (which is very different from that imaginary major). I end up transferring and went to a better university that is more credible and worth paying for. My suggestion is not to waste a penny not the time on that school because even if the individual has enough credits and courses to graduate; the staff will still have the individual take a few more courses (just to get more money).ladytye826

Not a law student; just an overall rating.So I was in their Envoys program for a year and I was a couple months into my 2nd year. When I got really bored at my other high school, I decided to switch high schools to where I could actually learn something. After telling the director of the program, he said that he needed to question his boss as to whether or not I would be allowed to stay in the Envoys program. I started to get worried when he said this, because Case gives a full-ride scholarship to students who have completed the Envoys program. My mentor said that, since I was one of the best in the program, that I shouldn't be removed from the program. In fact, he was disappointed when I was. A couple weeks later when the director's boss finally came in, they decided that I should be removed from the program. And keep in mind that THE ONLY THING I DID WAS CHANGE SCHOOLS FOR A BETTER EDUCATION! So just because I'm not learning anything at my current high school and decide to switch while I'm in the program, I'm removed? How does that work out? I still would've been going to every single silly meeting they had, and I actually would've been meeting with my mentor more often than I normally would. In fact, I would be doing more work, but they decide that they're gonna kick me out? Attached is the image of what they said. Very silly reason, especially in my opinion. I'm glad the chairman of my department decided to let me continue working with them, since my name is on a research paper with my mentor, but I still find it hard to believe that I was removed. They get a generous grant from the NSF just to run the program, and they said they have plenty of funding. Is this a scam or what? If they can get away with stuff like this, they will. So then I asked for the contact information of the person who made the decision, otherwise I would talk to someone of higher authority, and the director only demanded to speak with my parents. Then he told my parents literally the same stuff I was told, and avoided even explaining why the decision was made. In fact, he made sure to tell us that I'm not even supposed to be on campus before the appropriation forms were filled out properly. Basically, he tried to scare us from asking again. It's not a bad university, they just make sure to hold on to as much money as possible: even for students like me with my credentials.Jonathan Gillispie

Deans are only there for the money, not the students. My experience as a law student has been that the school misrepresents a ton of information but will not budge to help students when an issue comes up. They claim that the school's minority student population is growing, but I can count the colored students on one hand. They smile and pretend that everything is great, yet the place has fallen apart and is slowly getting worse. Some Deans express their Zionist pride, which is extremely off-putting. Cleveland State University is a middle-class university. It is fine but needs lots of improvements especially security-wise. The security cameras are not activated anywhere in the university, not in or between the buildings and the security personals are not attentive. Because of that many robberies happened within the campus. Here are two incidents that I am aware of: A few weeks ago a group of kids between about 10 and 15-year old stool one of the student-center commercial stores, a locked one. Within the same month in the MC-main classroom-building, an armed(a gun)robbery occurred. The student center building(SC) is where the CSU dining and some commercial stores and restaurants are located. The building is expected to be loud to extremely loud, even when it is almost empty you will hear those inconsiderate people shouting out. The library quiet areas are not so quiet and the people working there don't care to ask anyone to keep quiet.Rabab Salman
