A good school where you get out what you put in. Many trains stop within walking distance and buses as well. Just like any college, depending on your major, you will find good and bad professors. So always make use of the rate my professor website. I had a very pleasant experience. The administration was more competent than other schools I went to and my issues were always solved within a reasonable amount of time. The facilities I had to use for my major were in even better condition compared to some four year schools. The wifi coverage was good. Plenty of cafeterias with the best one being in the E building. Plenty of food trucks with different types of foods. Lots of seating areas with electrical ports. The class scheduling was workable with enough sections to fit almost everyone. Can't speak for any other major but it felt like that overall. They are always hiring new adjuncts so it's not the same professor teaching that one section you need all the time that everyone says is horrible. Always stay on top of your things if you want to have them resolved quickly. That's the part you play in your college years. The hand holding stops after High School. All I can say is, relax a little and have some fun. At the end of the day grades won't show the strength of your character after all is said and done.Mounia B

It seems like professors like the one I got Professor Arnold who acts likes she is going through the motions and don't there . i felt I waste my time and money which I paid out of pocket in her class and is thinking about leaving the college. She is one of the worst teachers/professors i ever had . I think cause it a community college a lot of them are mad cause they can't teach in a four year college through out of the community colleges in NY LaGuardia is the best . That being said she is the third professors that I had that sleeps walks through their class and I had another one that did something that weren't cool and I didn't show up for her class and never got an apology from her. Im currently in my last year at LaGuardia (majoring in business) and i have to say the Business department is full of AMAZING professors. Classes are really easy (most of them except accounting unless you're good at it) and the students are cool. I, personally, never talked to anyone or made any friends because I'm not an outgoing person. The school is constantly going under renovations and they just finished the new library and it looks AMAZING, as if it was a library from an ivy league. Food isn't that great but what do you expect, its school food [not free of course]. The only reason ppl go here and are willing to grossly pay for an education is the location. I went to school here and will say it is far overpriced for the education you are given. Some staff are great and really care about the education they are providing. Others just read off a powerpoint and have no interest except for a paycheck. Pace is expensive, doesn't help the students getting internships and when the students get one on their own, Pace takes the credit. After graduating, the students don't get a job. One of their alumni just got a good job and due to she owes money, they don't give her transcripts and are retaining her title. Is not possible for Pace to help when the students really need help? This is a good school. However, the quality is almost identical to the CUNY school I attended before coming here that costed significantly less. Additionally, the lack of diversity (granted, because of how this is a private school) is also lacking. Love the QC CUNY campus along with free QC Red/CUNY black shuttle bus for students that has certain pick and drop off points . I really can’t explain what I went through with the staff, so unprofessional and the attitude is horrible I always try to be as nice as possible but the way they treat people is awful. They literally screamed at my mom who does not speak any English for not having her vaccine card with her although she had picture of the vaccine but her phone was dead they yelled at her and did not try to help her enter the building at all. Once I came and approach them they was talking to me with awful attitude and yelling at me!!!!! although I respect the policy but they always could help in situation like this making everything 10X harder and unprofessional behaviour. One of its kinda school Historic place as it is more than 100 year old school CUNY’S most iconic campus so far As building is quite old, construction is going on still it’s worth taking a walk here Lush green gardens and beautiful library plus awesome walkways and old concert hall and other buildings. If I could, I would easily give York a ZERO RATING! NOTHING against the professors I’ve come across, but the school, policy and registrar/bursar staff and policy are ridiculous. I have been charged, during the pandemic I might add FULL. I clearly withdrew from summer classes and was literally ONE day passed the 100% refund date. After, I spoke continuously with bursar who kept sending me back to registrar. ALL professors assisted in submitting documentation showing I DID NOT CONTINUE in the ONLINE courses. Although I submitted required, and accurate paperwork documenting the WHY I could not complete the summer session, this greedy school is charging me ONE HUNDRED PERCENT for courses that their own records reflect that u withdrew from. Again, let me reiterate this was at the time of a Pandemic. I am now not able to register or do anything until this balance is paid. I think this school is deplorable, too much of the staff is unprofessional and not helpful At all! They’re dismissive and there is never any considerations or flexibility offered. If you can, avoid this school. Majority of the staff are unprofessional, lazy and do not seem to take their job seriously. Imagine emailing your professor and days, or even up to week plus passes by with no response. Some professors to avoid, Darrell Morris- extremely unprofessional acts as if he's paying us to be there and not the other way around. Lovely campus and easily seen from the street. The school is close to public transportation. The campus houses a high school and an elementary school. The grounds can use some work and some more public art installations. The cemetery is gated but plenty of history ardorns the head stones. The indoor exhibit of The Tuskegee Airmen is worth visiting the campus. The stundent art galley is the best. Ask security for accessibility for people with disabilities. Security at the gate will ask of I. D. He is very pleasant and awesome with directions. Most staff/faculty are helpful too. Better to get assistance from the more experienced staff. They are quite knowledgeable. The food is pricey for college life, but the chicken Marsalis, peas & rice, Mac & cheese and green beans with show string beans cut carrots was a tasty pleasant delight. The logistics of the buildings are identified in letter quadrants to help navigate your way through the buildings. For example 1B 106 would be on the 1st floor in the "B" section. I like many older students had to re-learn how to go to school, due to taking Online/OnLive classes. I'm from the era of having a teacher in a classroom and that's it. But Devry offers both, which makes it convenient to possibly choose to either take the class online or head to the school for class. The Online classes are tremendously helpful for me, being a single parent. But I've noticed not all Professors record their classes. I don't care if only the first class was the "Live" class. When Professors have online students, recording the sessions should be the standard, not a choice. Devry does go out its way to help you resolve as many pitfalls as any student can possibly fall into. This is quite comforting for me, because being a Single parent, there's always some unaccounted for drama that I must tackle. And the Professors have worked with me in getting assignments handed in. Once class I took had one of the week's not open up for the entire class. Meaning some could see the work for the week and others couldn't. And for the online student this is terrible because you may not get to your work until the end of the week. Then you’re left struggling trying to get that resolved, so you’re not penalized with handy in assignments late. But the Professor immediately acknowledged the issue, and didn't penalize everyone. Which may sound like it's not a big deal. But for me it was huge, because it happened over a Holiday. Overall, I'm happy I chose Devry. I was looking at several other schools like southern New Hampshire University. But I chose Devry because it seemed to specialize in my major and was offering better prices with classes. I'm on a budget so class prices are huge to me. So far all I can say is, thanks Devry.steven mattocks

My experience at Keller/DeVry was a really great one. I love, love, love the fact that the professors are very knowledgeable in their field, have industry experience and could bring real life examples and situations to the classroom. The course curriculum has helped to prepare me for the real (corporate) world – Thank God for the numerous group and individual projects which have really helped me thus far. Honestly I was somewhat sad to leave – the environment felt like family, and on another hand I was happy because I had no more studying and assignments to do :-). The academic advisors are all GREAT (Shout out to my former Advisor, Kareema). I have to also shout out Addie who is the International Student (and Student Services) Manager, she is such a great addition to the team – I can truly say that she LOVES her job and the students, she is very knowledgeable and exceptionally good at what she does – she puts a lot of love and care into it! (Thank you Addie). Career services is also free and GREAT (Shout out to Brandy Hernandez!), they’ve really worked with me to help me complete my resume, prepare for job interviews, build my Linked in profile and also with my job search! Interviewers were impressed and the best part is that I didn’t have to pay anyone to provide me with any of those services. Overall my experience at Keller was GREAT, I’ve had many great encounters both with the professors and other members of staff! I was so excited on getting back to school and complete my career expectations VIRTUAL but this university is a rip off and Scam , I had a couple of college degrees from FL state and Canada that were supposed to count towards my program and decrease my time to get a degree and I was told that I CAN GET MY DEGREE IN TWO YEARS but now I was just inform it's not two years but three to four more years and the other issues is that this season and the previous I had a couple of professors that were out of the country the whole semester impossible to get a hold on them, no live classes. one was in Russia or something and the other one in Singapore the whole semester so due to the hour difference it was impossible to get a hold on them besides the fact that all the videos of reference were coming from a YOUTUBE WEBSITE !! how professional (sarcasms) Do your research before signing. I believe there are stories about Bank Street which other parents, potential parents and even students should be aware. I was a parent at the school for 10yrs and was involved in various school activities. At one time I was on the Director of Diversity’s (DoD) Parent Advisory Board (PAB). This was a group of parents organized the school year after the The Post wrote a less than flattering article concerning the then DoD in July 2016. Prior and during various meetings of the PAB, the new DoD provided information to be used as a guide to think about being more inclusive of differing views: “The Dangers of Echo Chambers on Campus” by Nicholas Kristof and a YouTube video of Obama’s farewell address from Chicago. Both the article and the speech talk about the dangers of retreating into our selective bubbles especially in our neighborhoods and learning institutions. “..we become so secure in our bubbles that we accept only information, whether true or not, that fits our opinions, instead of basing our opinions on the evidence that’s out there.” Obama said. Great article and a great speech but just words. Bank Street doesn’t stand behind those words and doesn’t stand with people who do. When you want to truly help people, you tell them the truth but if you want to help yourself, you tell them what they want to hear. At one of the PAB meetings, the philosophies of Dr. Thomas Sowell, Harvard Grad (magna cum laude), MS Columbia and PhD Univ. Chicago and Jason Riley, Editorial Board of the Wall Street Journal were introduced. The introduction was greeted with “We know those philosophies and we reject them; we reject them” by one of the parents. I doubt he really did. It would seem that the words from all the articles above were simply dismissed by a group of primarily whites “rejecting” the works of these influential black men simply because their writings did not fit the School's narrative. I can not understand people who say that minorities should be represented more broadly yet become irrational and repressive when a person of color represents a view differing from their own. I contacted Mr. Riley and he agreed to speak at the school and I even offered to pay his fee. At first, the DoD and the Dean offered to approve the engagement with the stipulation of a “balanced dais”. I asked both the Dean and the DoD if they'd be on the other side to which they declined and offered no recommendations. Funny how the two people who push the racial agenda were not confident enough to defend their curriculum to that of a well-educated, well-researched black man. How do you market yourself as a teacher of critical thinking while suppressing differing, well-researched views? Even the idea of inviting Mr. Riley to speak at the school was ultimately rejected after other parents petitioned against his speaking. The mob, which Nicholas Kristof had written, won. Separately, after the NY Post article, several families who were thought to be possible contributors to the write-up were ostracized and verbally chastised by some members of the community. I never understood why Bank Street’s administrative staff didn’t stand up to support those being mistreated. Although they talk of community, they left those parents, some of whom had been at the school for years, to fend for themselves against the mob. I never got the chance to ask the Dean how he felt when he found out that some parents from the School’s Parents of Kids of Color group petitioned against his hiring simply because of the color of his skin. They wrote a letter to the Hiring Committee to petition for one applicant over the other specifically because of race. What would have been the reaction if a group of parents had racially profiled a non-white? I also found the school weak in languages, sciences and athletics. All this after paying over $500k in after-tax tuition plus tutoring (which you will need) and donations for your child to attend K-8. There's more, but I'm limited in space.Slinks

I came into this school March of 2022 for the Nail Technology program having experience on nails for 2 years thinking i wasn’t going to learn anything new I was just coming for my license but I came into this school and was proven to be wrong, Ms. Justalina taught me so much. How to not only improve the nails I do but how to make short and long term plans for my future as a nail technician. She made me tap into my creativity and practice a lot of amazing art to be able to do a little bit of everything. Ms. J is the best teacher I’ve ever had and I’ll forever have respect and love for her because she made me feel like my passion was important and teaching me how to get bigger and better was the cherry on top for me. But not only Ms. J but Ms. Melissa as well, she helped me create ideas on how to further promote my nails and make my business bigger and different ways to put myself out in the industry!! I’ll always come back to visit and help in anyway I can. I definitely highly recommend the nail technology program but I know for sure I’ll be back to take my cosmetology!! I recently graduated from the Nail Specialty program and would definitely recommend the school if you're looking for a fast tracked state-approved course to take in order to qualify for state licensing exams. While you'll find the same state-approved curriculum here as at other beauty schools, this is the only school that allows you to work towards licensing in under 3 months (other programs take 6-9 months for the same 250 state required hours). My teacher Ms JC was an absolute dream and shared so much knowledge and support beyond the textbook. She really cares about her students and it is very clear. Even after graduating she has been open and supportive to me and others. My only critique would be that the administrative office communications were a bit bumpy throughout the program. I had initially signed up for school in Brooklyn and ended up in the Bronx because of enrollment numbers, but it was not communicated transparently to me. My daughter has been taking piano lessons here with Santiago and Phil for a little over a year, and we couldn't be more pleased. We had previously hired a piano teacher that came to our home to teach her a couple of times but we quickly stopped after the pandemic hit. I decided to restart lessons at Bronx School for Music with Santiago and we immediately noticed a huge difference in quality of teaching. With Ms. Santiago she wasn't only learning to play a song, she learned how the piano worked, about how music conveys feelings, reading music, etc. All of the teachers we have encountered at BSM are professional musicians and that made a huge difference in my daughter's instruction that I was not expecting. There is a focus on this school on not only learning to play an instrument, but to learn to play it well and appreciate music overall. The school offers FREE musical development classes (choir, eurythmics, music appreciation) on Saturdays for those enrolled (your kid could stay at BSM for a big chunk of the day learning music!), and there's also free music theory online with the amazingly patient and kind Mr. Betson. My daughter recently had her first recital and it was inspiring to see all of the children show off what they had learned from their wonderful teachers. We joined Bronx School for Music from another local music school because we were impressed with the flexibility in scheduling lesson times, most schools will only offer weekend lessons and here we could schedule around our schedule. This year after several months of only doing online lessons we were able to safely meet at Bronx School of Music and have a Spring recital which was a special treat for parents and students alike. We were also pleased with the quality of theory lessons that were being offered, they were very child friendly, and very comprehensive. The teacher Mr.Betson, is patient and really engages students. Finally our piano teacher Olga, is genuinely caring, patient, encouraging, firm when necessary, just a wonderful addition to the village it takes to raise a child. Finally, it is sooooo affordable, music lessons can be expensive. Lessons here for both instruction and theory are affordable.Chase Awesome

My youngest girl has been taken lessons with Philip for a few years now. He is the best!. Very professional. The school is new, but the staff is experienced. I recently completed Beginner CAD: Developing Designs. I have a degree in Automation Engineering Technology, so basically I have the formal education to be qualified to repair and maintain robotic and automated systems, but I want to design and build robots. I chose to pursue this workshop in AutoDesk’s Fusion360 because of its universal robustness as a CAD, 3D Sculpting, Modeling, CAM, etc. software package. I signed up for Duro because of the in-class experience with a real classroom and a real instructor. Nothing beats the ability to just have an instructor in the room with you, period. The class is a great value- other classes of this nature can easily cost twice as much, and the benefit that being efficient with a software such as Fusion 360 brings to your resume, and the opportunity to meet other like minded people, will pay for this class over and over again. The office is also convenient to get to. Duro is in Mott Haven right outside of Manhattan, and even with the construction it’s a simple drive, with plenty of on street parking. I'm primarily a musician and composer, so when it comes to physics and circuitry, I'm, oh, just a little out of practice (from what I can remember, my last true physics class was before I got my driver's license). Mohammed made this class not only super easy to understand for a total novice, he made it fun! His method of teaching is conversational and engaging, and he satisfied all the questions I needed to ask (which was quite a few). I took the Beginner Microcontroller class in order to incorporate Arduino into a musical instrument I'm building, and Mohammed's from-the-roots subject matter is providing me with a substantive foundation to further my skill building. The classes are small and Mohammed even provided homework (definitely the first time in my life I've been excited about physics homework) and office hours! A highly effective, friendly teacher with interest in the people at the class, I highly recommend Mohammed and the course overall. I was more than satisified and l would definitely take other classes through Duro.Alicia Walter

Duro has been a great experience. The staff is diverse and very well equipped to educate and mentor, providing gems of knowledge geared towards helping us get ahead as well as expanding our professional network. They engaged and captivated us through relevant hands on experience and skill development. We learned in-depth how to create 3D models using Fusion 360, which exposed someone like myself with little background in engineering to the process of developing hardware from the start to finish. In addition to sharpening our pitching and presentation skills, we learned how to use keywords and tips to best utilize professional tools such as LinkedIn and present ourselves to the best of our ability as young professionals. This place is good. Considering it's a learning environment I'd suggest you bring your patience. So far I've had 2 cuts, from 2 different barbers (1 male/1 female) & both times got what I wanted. I'm male. First time, lasted around 40 mins. Second, was 1-1/2hrs. I didn't mind the time. Note: I did not have to wait in a waiting area. You sign a waiver for consent & usually are assigned a student. This was my twice walk-in experience before 11:30 am on a weekday. The student barbers are considerate, act accordingly & treat you w/respect. Which I value. The supervisor on duty, Steve, will also oversee all clients w/students in direct view. You definitely get the feeling it's a student academy. But don't feel uncomfortable while I'm in the chair. Steve is a talented, knowledgeable & respectful person when conveying what the client wants. I like that. All in as a new client. For me it's local & a trade that will always be around. So I will choose to sponsor local in that respect. Good job BBA team & all students. I will spread the word to my friends & family. Update 4/2022: This shop/Academy is a hidden gem. I am proud to say that I Graduated at Beyond Barber Academy. It took me about a year to complete my 500 Hours, however that's because I was working full time. That being said, KNOW!!! that at this school the staffs, Owner/ Directors are all very easy to work with and very flexible in allowing students to manage their schedule. Flexibility has no Price!!!!! that is why I manage to obtain my Master Barber license. I will for ever be thankful to Javier the Owner an amazing Gentlemen. Mario an amazing teacher! and Norma the Director all together they make Beyond Barber Academy the best school in The Bronx to obtain your Master Barber license. I entered in as a female student with no experiencing in barbering other than I used to get my haircut by a barber who was male (different location). Upon starting the program, immediately, the facilitator at the time, put me at ease and allowed me to feel accepted as an individual who wishes to learn how to barber. That is a great thing about Beyond Barber Academy, it is a comfortable environment to learn in and staff encourages and empowers students to be confident in learning barbering skills, and learning it hands on. The program is generally 4 months for full-time students and then you practice to take your exam to become a master barber. I would recommend the school.Ky Bryan

This is my college!! Love all the campuses, plus the professors are super friendly. My list of how awesome Mercy College is, goes on and on! I'm writing because I read a comment saying the college is overpriced for a community college level. Lol, 1st off, Mercy is a 4-year nonprofit private college. The financial aid and scholarships offered covered my cost of attendance. Mercy College has opened a door for me to obtain a secondary education for little to no cost.Terry Linwe

I'm happy I found this place. I'm going for the medical assistant training that starts on March. I thought they forgot about me but it just takes some time for the classes to start. I applied last year like around November. Best part is that classes are free. All I have to pay is 40 dollars for books and 17 for the kit. Thank you guys for helping people in need.Gabby's Life!!
