Am enrolled in the truck driving school at Eagle Pass; it is our final day of class. The staff and instructors at SWTJC — Eagle Pass respond to all concerns with genuine care and attention for helping any student succeed. PRICE: 5 STARS At approx: $3600.00 USD, this price cannot be beat! The national average for CDL school is $5-$6K USD. Not only will you learn to drive standard– not taught at all schools– but, you'll have professors who have 15-20+ years of experience in all aspects of CDL work. Professors are definitely there to collect a paycheck; and, most hold driving jobs elsewhere. All professors show significant interest in helping others on their way to better jobs. CLASSROOM TRAINING: 3 STARS One MUST speak or understand Spanish fluently in order to pass this part of the course. At least 1/2 of the instructors speak Spanish only. If you do not speak Spanish, it is best to speak with Mr. Olivares or Mr. Talamantes, they'll elaborate until the concept(s) is understood. Expect lots of repetitive, memorization-based [classroom] curriculum. DRIVING TRAINING: 3 STARS There was definitely not enough drive time– the fail rate for the CDL exam is stark, and sobering. Double-clutching is not taught on standard 10-speed trucks. Expect to have uneven distribution in driving time per student. Some will drive more than others, and it is easy to fall behind. Expect to argue with your classmates at least once over who gets to drive– not enough trucks, nor space in the yard for 16 students. If one doesn't run to get the keys from the professor– much like a dog chasing after a bone– he will not drive. TRUCKS: 3 STARS Trucks are constantly breaking down. Air conditioners do not work on at least 1/2 of the trucks; expect to sweat in the summer, or freeze in the winter. Trucks are worn out, and filtly– lots of student sweat, oily surfaces, and grime all over the insides, disgusting. Mysterious beeps emanate from the dash, grinding noises are common, leaks are common, and check engine lights are intermittent. Bring hand sanitizer! Bring laundry money– the yard is very dusty. FACILITIES: 5 STARS The campus building is brand new — the janitor works harder than anyone! The truck practice yard is very dusty, muddy when wet; yet: floors are still immaculate. Bathrooms are serviced everyday, and the classrooms are clean and organized. A computer lab would be nice for job applicants post-training. SWTJC has a library– 5 min drive from CDL building– available for guest computer use. Altogether, a pretty good school. Administration is responsive and open to addressing concerns, classroom material(s) are well-prepared, and you'll learn to drive a standard. The eagle pass campus has professors that discourage students. They have professors that show up late or always cancel class, they don't properly lecture and are only there to collect a paycheck. I am so frustrated with this school right now. If I didn't want my desired career courses right now, I would give up. I'm having such a hard time just signing up for classes. First I had a problem with getting registered because of an online school (that I NEVER took classes with) signed me up for student loans (that I didn't approve of), now I THOUGHT it was taken care of! BEFORE going through the process again, I asked financial aid if it was off my credit, they said it was. Once I applied for financial aid AGAIN, applied with the school, AGAIN, and picked out my classes AGAIN, now they are saying "the loans are still there". An amazing community college that cares greatly for their students! The atmosphere is beautiful filling the campus with lush greenery and exotic bird calls. This college provides everything for the student such as a gym, cafeteria, and soon to be college dorms. The financial aid office works tirelessly to get the most for the student. I have been to multiple colleges and universities and Galveston College is by far the best one. I will recommend this college to my closest friends and family!Joshua Bailey

The housing staff is horrible, they have put 2 charges on my account and they admitted to not knowing how they got my name however they refused to take it off even when the camera showed I never stayed, 3 weeks later I spoke to Hr for them to remove it and they did it the same day. The other one was removed 2 weeks later after the payment date. I would also recommend you bring in your own food or check it before leaving the dinning hall. I found so much mold and was served under cooked to many times. The drinks apply as well check the ice whole before u get if there is black stuff around it use the other machines.(not sure if they are gonna clean up before the fall but there is also mold in between the soda machines) Not only the dinning side but be careful with the soda/juice in the deli side the they both are spoiled. And check the expiration date of each snack you do choose to take I had 3 month old jello and I still can’t get that’s fussy taste out my mouth. Either side will not hesitate to sell old milk or old food and bunch it all up to be given out on the weekends. There is a wëëd problem at this school as well so be careful because if anyone in your dorm doesn’t it you maybe be accused of doing it as well by the campus police. Not on to the professors, you need to hold some of their hand and walk them three days the grading process. I had 3 professors(1 was in person and the other 2 was online) last semester wait til the end of the semester to grade everyone from my midterms to out introductions at the beginning. For online teachers make sure you double check their comments after they grade and read up on stuff ahead of time so u can message them early because they don’t respond to message in a timely manner. Navarro College was STELLAR! As a former Bulldog, I'm proud to have called this school my home. Professors are knowledgeable and interesting individuals, the staff are all charming and helpful, and the atmosphere of the entire facility is one of safety and growth. Plus, Dr. Fagan (the man in charge of it all) is incredibly personable and makes a point of greeting and interacting with students every chance he gets! The staff at the Corsicana campus are very rude. Upon inquiring about something the registrar didn’t know about; she went on to yell at me over the counter while the lobby was full of other students. There are only a handful of instructors that are dedicated and willing to see their students succeed. After all we pay to go there and I believe that the students need to treated with a bit of respect. The Cashiers are generally nice and will help you out.Nethmal Perera

The medical[EMS] wing here allows injured students whom are not compatible with the requirements or functionality of the physical job requirements for that particular field. Although the Stewart's are head representatives of this college[President] as a married couple, they suppress the indigent students by not providing a job placement in the medical dictation fields after passing medical terminology and Anatomy & Physiology courses as possible candidates in the local hospitals as medical scribes. It is vital that NETCC(a tax payer college) model the First Amendment values they are supposed to be teaching to students, Today's NETCC students will be tomorrow's legislators, judges, university presidents, police, EMS, nurses, and voters, but instead they are sending the wrong message: that government can dictate that sharing the ten commandments and that Jesus died for them to be saved from the wrath of God deserves expulsion on the grounds that it hurts other student's feelings and that safe spaces are needed to also protect other students from freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of expression. Despite claiming inclusiveness and diversity as its core values, NETCC is failing to foster real diversity of thought and is, instead discriminating against Christian groups based on it's beliefs. A lawsuit needs to be filed challenging the school's assumption that it can expel student groups based on the belief that Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven. It is a contradiction to NETCC policy for a teacher to discriminate based on religion. I personally was pulled aside by their medical director of the EMS program and told I was being expelled for hurting a student's feelings by sharing my world view, and then told by the teacher that, "Jesus Christ is not the only way to Heaven". It would be absurd for NETCC to require the vegan student group to appoint a meat-lover as its president. Lastly a good teacher that teaches EMS doesn't disrespect the appointment of men and woman who gave their lives as firefighters. The First Amendment dictates that the ‘marketplace of ideas’ on a public tax payer campus cannot prefer some viewpoints and cannot exile or denigrate others.Nor can the government force citizens to choose between exercising their constitutional rights on the one hand and participating in government-run programs on the other.” That discriminatory practice, however, became evident when school officials refused to discipline the Medical Director of EMS after an internal investigation and to expelled me. In this case charges need to be issued against NETCC and the staff. The school is favoring anti-Christian groups over Christian groups. My fundamental and clearly established rights under the First Amendment were violated by the staff and medical director of EMS at NETCC.Daniel Hamilton

The Director of the school's police Academy is a childish, unprofessional, prick!!! He soiled my name with at least 3 police departments because he didn't like me. He claimed I had a problem with my anger. His name was Richard Jones. Let me explain something about the Richard Jones situation to anyone that might read this review. Unlike many of the unsecured dudes that get into security seeking authority, badges, and a vehicle to drive their deep rooted insecurity I had always wanted to be a police officer. I grew up in the Stevens Courts projects in Texarkana, Texas and I will tell you right now that it is a misconception about the black community's view of the police. My community deeply admired the police. One of my mentors Texarkana, Texas police officer Presley as I remember would come to the projects, play football and order pizza with the young people. This forever changed my view of the police and from there I always wanted to become one. Furthermore my record has never shown any signs of me being an unstable person. I am a black man free of criminal charges and a criminal record. He decided to destroy my chances of a good paying job for my family and I because he didn't like me. Trying to get this story out there is long over due but oh yes I haven't forgot. I am currently working in the Private Security Industry but nearly finish with my Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice- I also a have a diploma completion in investigating crime scenes. Richard Jones and his academy is a non-factor in my life at this point but the fact that this was did to me has affected my career. BTW. I AM ONLY CLICKING THAT STAR TO GET TO THE PUBLISH SCREEN. This community college is not the best. There are some ups and downs. The professors barely help when asked, the administration kinda screws you over and somehow makes it your fault. Some of the online work is not the same as learned in class. When you write essays you have to use the sources from the online library the college provides and you're not allowed to use any other sources. Although if you do, you will fail. Their system is completely messed up and had someone else's credits show up as mine. I have taken several extra classes because I was told I needed them when I actually didn't. I have wasted my time and money. On the bright side there are some good professors who care and will help if asked but it seems to me that every time there is a good professor they move to other colleges.Cara Thompson

Great place to learn, with a safe environment. The grounds are well taken care of, and the staff is very friendly, as well as patient when teaching. Very well at allowing students to understand what is being taught, and provide all the basics when it comes to starting your college credits. The entering staff are knowledgeable in helping you find assistance in areas you aren't familiar with such as tuition, loans and grants. The book store has all the stuff you need to succeed. They have several cafes on campus. The student center is the campus hang out. They have pool tables ping pong and a wide variety of other clubs and activities to get involved in. The mini processing plant on site is a great hands on learning tool they have RIGHT THERE on campus. All of the professors are very knowledgeable and understanding. If you want to learn and earn college credits this is the place. They have an adult learning center for people to get their GED. They're performing arts center for people that like to perform or do arts. Like drawing and painting. Have a nursing program that is top notch. All your basic studies are covered by experience and helpful staff. They have all sorts of activities, and clubs. This cosmetology where they offer haircuts and manicures. They offer instrumentation as well as process technology. They have a judicial class for those that would like to learn about the criminal justice system. They do scrolling all year round even on weekends If you have a 9 to 5 job and can't make it to regular classes. There's athletic program basketball and volleyball, they have a swimming pool weight room and banquet halls for rent. They have several lecture halls on campus as well as outdoor picnic area or study areas. There are some campuses one in Baytown, McNair, and Liberty. So their service area can be reached. They also have helpful Access student resources answer questions about programs and are always willing to go that extra mile and help make student success their number one goal. They have campus security to keep you safe and well-lit areas for evening classes. They offer welding and logistics, also support a wide variety of students from all over the world. I must say, the teachers are helpful and the classes are small-yes- but the support staff for the college itself (business office, counselors office, financial aid, ect) are the absolute RUDEST people I have ever met! I work full time, so I try to do most of my business with them via Email, Telephone, or Fax. When you email any of the support departments, they NEVER reply back, once you call them and mention "I emailed y'all a week ago but I never got a response back…here is my question" they just give you the run around, transfering you to 3+ people just to get a vague answer. Just today, I got cut off by the business office when I simply asked if I could pay for tuition over the phone. The "counselors" in the counselors office don't even remotely help you with your degree planning, each one of them will tell you something different so you are basically left to figure it out yourself and hope you get it right. I have talked to all different kinds of directors/administrators about these issues and they NEVER seem to be resolved. Point to my review is this is a good college just to get a degree behind your name, but be prepared to hit a ton of roadblocks/red tape along the way.Kayla W

Love the school, very understanding teachers & other faculty! I graduated from here my first semester of my senior year in high school before deciding to attend UT! Everything was okay all the way up until the 2020 graduation parade. When announcing my name, the announcer made a very uncomfortable mark about my dads corvette mentioning “Nice car where’d you rent that for the weekend?” I didn’t really notice until my sister played her video back after the parade. The car wasn’t rented, that’s HIS CAR FULLY PAID FOR! I didn’t like what he said and if I could see him face to face again any day, I would tell him African Americans can have luxurious and nice things as well! Some comments you keep to yourself! If I could put no stars I would. I have spent the last 3 years trying to get things done at this college. My son was taking courses and we were okay until the last year of his degree. He had one course that was a on-line course required for graduation. It is only offered once a year. He signed up for it and it didn't make. He had to call to find out about the course not making. They did not notify him. This was a required course for graduation that is only offered once a year and they didn't have it! This was the only course he needed to graduate! We had to write to the President of the College and while he offered apologies..the course did not come up again until the following year. We had to write again to get the course offered. After completing the course, we waited for a diploma. No diploma. We didn't apply for it in time. Apparently you have to apply in February for spring graduation. Applied for summer graduation. this is now November and we have not received the diploma. We kept calling to find out why and were constantly reassured that it was mis-delivered and we would get it. Today, he drove the 2 hour trip to Victoria and found that they had placed a hold on the diploma because of a fee they had never told him about. Even after the phone calls about not receiving the diploma…NO ONE checked to see why it had not been issued. No idea now when the diploma will come. But it has taken 2 years to get one on line course and almost 6 months to find out why his diploma has not arrived. Do yourself a favor and NEVER ATTEND THIS SCHOOL.Elsie Mae

**This is from my online experience NOT in person** Overall my experience here wasn't the best, but it wasn't as horrible as I had experienced with the previous university. For the MOST PART the professors I had were good, but they were either good professors or they were HORRIBLE, there was no in between. The reason I'm giving this three stars is because I'm having to drop out because I don't have 2 accounting classes, which means I have to be a transient at a different college for 1-2 semesters and pay out of pocket (which I can't do) all because of TWO classes. The reason is because they don't offer lower level classes here at all, but especially online where it's even more limited. I work full time so I can't attend school in person. But when I entered the Human Resources Management (HRM) program I was told that it was available fully online and that I would be able to complete the degree with all the classes I already had. This was a lie, which I find out when I only have 2 semesters left before I graduate. Now, I'm having to drop with only 2 semesters (nearly one year) left all because I was lied to about the program at the beginning before I applied. Everyone here (meaning financial aid, admin. people, etc.) were very nice, but they lied just to get me into the school. Overall, don't attend here unless you have every last one of your lower level classes completed or you'll end up like me over 2 accounting classes that you can't complete. I used to love this school. I decided to get my BBA from here and after doing so in 2018 I decided to go back for my MBA. Today would have been graduation day. It’s sad that this school did NOTHING to support the graduates of 2020. I understand COVID and how dangerous it is. However, there should have been an accommodation of some sort to show the graduates of 2020 your appreciation. Whether it had been a slide show on the school website, or a virtual graduation showing the graduates photos on television. It’s a shame after all the hard work that we’ve done, no one cares. They feel that it is okay to send us programs AFTER graduation day. I definitely will not recommend this school to anyone I know, just for the simple fact that I myself have to show my friends and family my accomplishment since the school failed to make us feel appreciated!!edricka burns

This heartfelt review is difficult for me because I actually attended Alvin junior high and Alvin high school off and on throughout my 12 years. I love this town. I was happy to attend this college for that precise reason. However, there were many many obstacles I went through to get my degree here. Frequently, I had to wait my opportunity cost between a poorly taught class, and a class dedicated towards my profession. This should not be happening. Two things caused this. Professors who do not calculate the time required to perform homework and assignments out of class Is one. The second cause were professors who should not be teaching at all. They are either rude, careless Or have some type of issue within their person. Every semester I had a professor like this even after referencing rate my professor. Eventually because of this college hiring so many professors with personal issues it eventually cost me my accumulative science and math GPA to fall under. Consequently, I would not qualify to enter into university science or math department. Every semester on student loans, I worked 10 hours a day for seven days a week for two years. There should have been no reason why my grades were affected. However, how a professor teaches is one of those things that an individual has absolutely no control over. Because of the poor department management and analysis of teaching from professors by administrative, I will no longer be able to pursue the group degree I intended on pursuing. As a compromise, I had to apply for graduation for a general studies associates to leave this college peacefully, and it not destroy my loan approval or potential to graduate in four years. Best degree plans for this college are governments, English, etc. Stay at another community college for science and math because these departments are seriously on organized and not monitored.Shauna Herrera

Keep Alvin Beautiful greeted at the Alvin City Fall cleanup. Texas Pride and others showed up 2 collect all kinds of trash and recycle. Really impressed with everybody that I got to work with as they had a great attitude and even though most were new to the event they jumped in and made things work well. Really proud of everybody who participated and made this a great event and keeping our city sparkling Update: the EMS and police cadet departments pulled together to do a huge exercise for the training of their students. Using the building abandoned building across the street they staged a mass shooter that the police cadets had to take out and then they pulled in the EMS students to help pick up and treat all the wounded. Was a terrific activity and professionally done. Very fun to participate in as a victim. Update: we had the spring Alvin clean up and had the best participation ever. 151 people brought all kinds of trash, metal recycle, electronics, batteries, paper shredding, and green waste to be recycled. Great place to take classes. My son takes classes here in the summer to transfer to his 4 year university. He has enjoyed all of his professors. I like the school because they have a great enrollment process. They've got a waiting area and they call you up by name and clearly post your name on monitors. I only give 4 stars because of their police department. If you pull through a parking space-ticket. They watch every vehicle and the slightest parking lot infraction can bring a quick ticket. They're using it as a money generator. You've got to read their police handout. A lot of rules are in place that aren't posted and a visitor can quickly find themselves ticketed. I feel as if most of the reviews given do not do justice to the University itself and to the incoming freshman's coming straight from high school. I chose to go to this particular university because my family engraved this stigma against large universities. "Smaller classes" are better because you will get a more personable experience with your professor. Also, growing up in a Catholic household, this was the ideal school for me. I was also drawn into the University for many other reasons. 1. I was drawn to the nursing program because it stated that all "incoming freshman's with 3.5 GPA's will have automatic admittance into the nursing program". 2. The scholarship I received in the mail blew my mind. However, little did I know that it would still cost me an arm and a leg to pay for me staying there. 3. The location because it is in the most beautiful part of Houston. 4. The friendly faces and helpful staff. I will never forget any of the professor's I have taken because they really are the most kindest people you'll ever meet. (most of them at least). I spent one year at UST and I can honestly tell you that I have gained some and lost some. I have gained great communication skills, great study skills, few great friends, and student debt. On the other hand, I lost one year of college, thirty thousand dollars, and valuable knowledge I could have further expanded instead of taking philosophy and theology requirements. I enrolled to UST intending to graduate with a nursing degree. I thought I gained automatic admittance due to my 3.5+ GPA in highschool. However, that was not the case because you must apply to UST first as a student, then apply into the nursing school at the end of the year (which is really competitive because there are only 40 slots and 100-200 students applying?). If I were to have known that I would have just gone to UTA where they do live up to that statement of automatic admittance with a certain GPA requirement. So I basically spent a year paying for graduate school when all I needed were pre-reqs that I could have taken at HCC. I remember signing up for ONE summer statistics class and the price totaled to $4,000+. People at UH spend $4,000-5,000 in ONE SEMESTER with 12 credits. Also, to all the feminist's out there, they pay male professor's more than female professors (for doing the same job). And that does not undermine the fact that the professors make less than the average salary while the president of the university makes more than the average university president salary? hm. With the tuition exceeding $30,000+ a year, it comes to show where the money goes to since you cannot see it on the campus. The library is out dated, the buildings are outdated, however the church is beautiful. I guess a really good thing UST does is how they offer amazing scholarships to veterans and police officers who serve. Another disappointment is the lack of student/campus life. This school seems to be more fitting for older students, not younger incoming freshman. There are not many active clubs or events like you would see at UTSA, UH, or any public college. It somewhat makes you lose the "college experience". However, they do offer retreats and study abroad opportunities. It is really inclusive to Catholicism, however it comes to no surprise as this is a catholic university. If you are financially well off, with money to spare for 6 extra classes (18 credits total) and smaller class sizes then this is the place for you. If you get admitted for free due to financial aid, then even better. Do not attend this school if you are an incoming freshman looking to experience college to the max. This university won't give you the opportunity to explore what you want, instead it will decide for you. And smaller class sizes will not make you pass, it is up to you to take that initiative. They are AACSB accredited, which was one of my deciding factors in going to school here. Less than 5% off all business schools in the world are AACSB accredited according to their website. The staff is friendly, some of the classrooms could use updating, and the computer labs need a bit of an upgrade. The campus is really nice and was designed by Philip Johnson the famous architect. Overall the programs are good especially for working professionals. However, some of the finance, accounting, and other quantitative courses should be more challenging and require more Calculus, Diff Eq. more advanced statistics, etc. to improve the quality of the overall program.Tom Dantario

I love the professors. Temple College is lucky to have professors that have doctorate degrees to teach. As a students, we are lucky to pay a junior college price for access to PhD 's. Those are the professors I choose from when given the opportunity in my degree plan. The business management of the junior college could use some training in customer service and fully understand the job they do. I have learned to always have my military files with me since the files have a tendency to be lost every other semester. I never knew that I earned the President's List or the Vice President's List awards until they announced it at my graduation. Student life is hampered by lack of support from staff and lack of student interest. I hope that this college will continue to grow, take on a supportive/student oriented attitude, and attract the quality professors and staff the college needs to grow. I loved this college. I met a lot of really great people while here, but more importantly I felt the teachers were fair and prepared me to go to University. Also if you are not part of TRIO you should go there. I spent a lot of time there and met really good people like Debbi Owens, Tina Marsh and Cecilia. I would do my homework there and receive help and tutoring. It is a wonderful thing for the College to allow students to access programs like these and I am hoping that more people can create programs like these. I was in their nursing program and I passed all the exams with mid Bs. My clinical instructor made up many violations and forced me to accept them. She further used those violations to give me very low grade (25 out of 91) on my midterm evaluation despite the fact that I was never late for clinical and I handed in all my paperwork on time. It is obviously discrimination. I had to withdraw from the course because you can not fight discrimination with hard-work. I will give it a minus star if I can.Chun-Wei Lin

Update: Post Graduation Changed rating from 5 to a 3. Research professor reviews before taking any classes. I had always done this religiously except for my last class. Huge, huge mistake. Two of 14 classmates dropped the class and several others complained to no avail. She was rated 1 out of 5 on Rate my Professor and that was generous. Reviews seemed consistent as her being labeled as awful. I would describe her as a nutjob. Unfortunately being tenured, her unprofessional conduct goes unchecked and Lonestar absolutely did nothing about the massive complaints. Best solution is to get the word out so no one takes her classes. Again, read reviews. I have found them reliable and they will save you from having a bad professor or having a nightmare like this one. I was planning on continuing my education at Lonestar but the experience I had with this one professor and the lack of action by the college has made me reconsider my plans. Until this class, I was a straight A student and I am absolutely convinced that this professor is triggered by students that do not profess the same ideology she espoused. Call it what it is. Discrimination and bigotry. Beautiful, well maintained campus. Started at 15 as a homeschool dual credit student. Exemplary service from advisors to finance. Had zero problems. Professors were engaging and subject matter experts as good or better than those at top tier universities. Class size is small so you get one on one attention. This place doesn’t answer the phone, and when they do they don’t give you helpful information. Incoming freshman who don’t understand or need some help understanding how everything works, don’t attend here. They are no help and randomly drop you out of classes. When you call nobody answers and they don’t get back to you even when you mark it as urgent. Continuing on my review of this horrible college.. first few weeks of school and they don’t have working wifi or enough books for all of the students. Need to log into D2L while using campus wifi? Forget about it. Need a book for class during these first few weeks? Too bad. They don’t have any, and you will just have to wait until next week. I mean seriously? My son had difficulties in establishing his Texas residency status. We had made three trips to the admissions office but never resolved it. Apparently the fact that my son is a US citizen was overlooked. Thankfully after meeting Ms Flores we were able to resolve the issue in under 30 minutes. I’ve already graduated a couple years ago and wanted to share some of my experiences that just linger in my mind. I once went to the financial aid office, you know, for aid. They shut me down in all ways, and wouldn’t bother to offer any alternate help or information. I remember mentioning I was considering pursuing a career in the veterinary field, to be laughed at and told “that’s not worth it”. Ok. I took art classes to hold on to something enjoyable here, and they were just as disappointing. The professors didn’t care, I didn’t mind that though since I enjoyed the subject anyways. What got me was when I’d go to them for advice, it was always such a beat down to my motivation. I had one who I asked how could I become a tattoo artist, for him to tell me how pointless it is in trying because who would want to teach me to “take their job”. Alright, not the first time I’ve been shot down in any aspirations I dared dream of in this place. I’ve had professors who were mean, tired, optimistic, or even just straight checked out. It’s not completely their fault in the end. I know everything about teaching is hard. I wanted to be an art teacher until I saw the one I had in highschool absolutely torn down from what she had to deal with. Though she always encouraged me to follow through with it, unlike any person in this college. All’s said and done in the end, I got my dinky degree after all. UPDATE: My experience here has gotten worst. Please do not go to this community college. The teachers are unorganized and so hard to reach. The VA advisor Has no clue what he’s doing and after multiple request to change advisor I finally received one. I have to change majors for just one semester to take a class I don’t need, and then switch back to original major before the end of the semester to graduate from this school. Absolutely horrible staff that has no clue what they are doing. If you are contemplating going to this school, DON’T! I transferred here from a community college in San Antonio. My goal is to finish my associates degree in business, I’m having the worse experience here. I have 2 different advisors. One with the VA, who won’t answer any of my calls or emails, and a regular advisor who seems to think all the miscommunication and errors are my fault. The VA advisor signed me up for the wrong degree plan and gave me a list of recommended classes to take, I took one for the first session of this summer and turns out I didn’t need the class for the CORRECT degree plan I should have been under. I have had to make calls every single day to this school to try to get information fixed so money that I am supposed to recieve will come to me. I planned my moving and my family around this while giving myself about a 1.5 month money buffer. They have taken so long that it has almost destroyed my family. I have at this point been begging family for money in order to feed my daughter. I am a gi bill recipient so my expenses are paid for I am just supposed to recieve money back. This school is literally the worst, they take all day in the advising office and registration office. They will have one or two people helping more than 20 people and you would think that would make them have a sense of urgency but they do not. They all act as if they don’t feel like helping you and move so damn slow. I received 2 parking tickets during the time I have attended this school because two hours in a meter is not even enough. The best advisor is Shannon, the rest of them act like they don’t care and will not give you any guidance when your new to college, some will over talk you and not even pay attention or listen to what you are saying to them. This school will literally make you not want to attend college at all with how difficult they make the process. I am here at the college registering for my classes for the fall and have been here since 1:00 it is now 4:00pm smdh. If you plan on coming here make sure you have a whole day to spend here!!!! I had a meeting and asked for help and she said she couldn't help me for some reason…I ended up texting & emailing people for help but they eighter didn't reply or said they were going to help me but then ended up not communicating back. I managed to call tec support and they said website was down. Few days later they called me & said they were going to put me on a list and since then I haven't heard anything. I feel like putting a bad review I’m currently trying to see a councilor here at El Centro I came Thursday before 5pm and they told me it was closed but on the website they close at 5pm. Come to find out today a staff member told me they closed an hour early because they were having a spring break party. Today I’m trying to speak to an advisor I’m the only one here sitting in the lobby still waiting for someone to help me. I used to love this school but honestly service has gone down the drain. My teen had an appointment under DR Saba Memon. She practices cookie cutter medicine. I feel like she is following a checklist. She told me what my child is diagnosed with, and she will only start treatment if I jump through hoops, and make more appointments. I left feeling like she does not care at all about my child. I came for help and she refused. She discounts what the parents say and think. She is very dismissive and the other doctors disagreed with her. She did not take what they said into consideration. UT health should do something about her. I asked to speak to her supervisor and she inferred that she has no boss and her word is final. She told me he has ADHD, and I can provide documentation from his PCP and his therapist. I would like to know how to file a formal complaint. This level of care is unacceptable. I was seen at the neurology clinic at the University of Texas Health Science Center when I was considered a candidate for neurosurgery. I had to have a few tests performed before the neuro-surgery to make sure I fit all the criteria and that the brain surgery wouldn't have a catastrophic effect on me. All the neurologists I worked with were excellent, supportive, thorough with the exams and explanations, and very nice to me and my family. I Would highly recommend to others, especially when it comes to epilepsy treatment.S-man Colly

Staffs are useless. I do not want to pay a penny to them. They just blame students for every jobs they are mandated to do. They do not work if you do not check. I really enjoy the student life here and most of the staff here is friendly, but overall the lack of professors and class schedule availablity is very disturbing. Classes that are available during the day is very limited and a majority are only offered at night plus a good 3/4 of the classes are taught by the same professors. The STEM department is very underfunded, I feel that this college is missing out on a big opportunity since the general area around here is next up and coming medical center (League City, Webster, Clear Lake, etc.). These two have been a big issue that have come up a lot when talking to other students. Another drawback of this campus is that you cannot graduate on time due to the lack of open class availablity. Also, this university is not a friendly parent student, so if you are a student that has kids I would look elsewhere. Overall, I feel like this is a very underfunded univeristy that needs a lot of improvement and it is sad to say that the community colleges are better than this one.Ashley M

Went to help move my daughter into her dorm/room on Saturday 1/16/21 & evryone we saw were very helpful, questions were answered & its been just a couple of days but my daughter has had an amazing experience!!! Update: unfortunately after the freeze we had my daughter was asked to go to hotel or back home (which was fine with me) until they "fixed" the problems that occured due to weather, the unfortunate thing is that it's so expensive to live there & YES she had help with financial aid but they did NOT give any discount even though she wasn't there for a month, not fair but oh well it is what it is..just had to write down the experience as part of my review.Jessica Ramirez

This University is trash. They can't keep professors, but their tuition keeps going up. Don't expect any help from your advisor because they won't be in your field of work and have zero clue about your major. They are business people only. The STEM department has drama in it so they are a mess. Expect to be in a class of 50 in a tiny room using garbage computer programs that are always expensive or vague and then not be able to receive any help from anyone. THIS IS THE WORST SCHOOL IN HISTORY OF SCHOOLS!!! PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!! If I could give it zero stars I would. This has absolutely been the worst experience I have ever encountered for school. When you need help and try to reach out for assistance no one replies back to your phone calls nor emails. But some how, some way they know how to get in touch with you to get a payment every month! Forget about admission. They sit you down and tell you all these good things about the school and how long the program is for but forget to mention once your course is completed you still have to take an additional 5 week course to take your exit then your allowed to sit for your NCLEX! Oh and another thing. If you think for a second they'll let you see you grade for the exam forget about it. Once you take an exam it literally takes about 2 weeks of waiting to get your score, and if you wait on MS. Provost for your grade it will take at least 4 weeks and don't think about calling or emailing her. She's allergic to responding back to people. When asked if you can see what you got wrong she will say "wE aReNt aLlOwEd tO sHoW yOu yOuR eXam, yOuR tEsT iS pRiVaTe" like huh?? IT'S MINES! So what they do is give you the top 5 question majority of the class got wrong and that's it. The reason why I passed was because I got a tutor and paid a lot of money for it. This school constantly changes it's rule to better themselves and get more money. I really wished I attended another school because the way they do things here is ridiculous!!!! The only class where I enjoyed learning and the teachers were amazing and really cared about us understanding the course was Mr. Ramdat (mental health) and Ms. Molina (ob/peds). I had the opportunity to attend the school for my LPN and RN. The LPN program I will give them a 3/5. The RN program a 2/5. The school is not consistent in anything. They give out term schedules the day prior and then the day the term starts it’s been changed but no one has up dated the online schedule or informed students. Forget ever getting in contact with anyone at this school unless you owe them money, then all of a sudden the phone email etc work. 1/2 the teachers have DISGUSTING, UNPROFESSIONAL attitudes. Don’t even bother trying to follow your syllabus because “that’s just up there I don’t follow that I do my own thing”, as stated by an RN teacher. Or famous quote they love “WHEN YOU ARE A REAL NURSE……” in regards to the LPNs which is wow because most of us attended JC for the LPN so maybe we need our money back since we aren’t “REAL NURSEs”.. your classes will be from 7a-330/4p Mon-Fri.. they like to make a lot of comments about “you can’t pass my class if you are working”.. Every school has its good and bad but be aware of what you sign up for. The cost of this school is very high and you will have to pay for parking each term(it’s first come first serve and about 80+\- spots) or risk getting hit by a car walking if you live in NY add tolls and gas and when you have clinicals you may need to pay for parking. If you come here honestly I would only recommend there LPN program, it’s tolerable. But the RN if you choose to attend try to transfer in as many classes as you can and save up a lot of money prior to starting. Also practice holding your breath because a lot of these instructors are “Vile”N R

I can honestly say that I am super happy I chose Jersey College. They have a team of amazing instructors, that come in prepared to give you everything, all the resources you need to be successful in the program. I am honored to soon be a graduate. It took a lot of hard work, and studying but I could not have done it without the help of my theory and clinical instructors who came In to every class giving their best which made it that much easier for me to give mine. I actually attend the other campus, but have had to stop by here for books or to see the proff. So far it seems like a very organized campus. I've come at different times of the day and there's always parking (sometimes further away, but I carry an umbrella for the sun) Once there were mariachi playing outside. The employees are always very helpful & professional and most of the students appear to be engaged in their environment. The bathrooms have always been clean when I've gone. I've taken 3 courses so far and the classes have been very engaging. This is a career change for me so I'm older, but I don't feel out of place.Gracie G

Good school. Dr. Haskins is a great teacher for the cisco CCNA certification course. All the material is provided. However, I feel as if the course is a little rushed. I understand the school is accelerated learning, but 8 chapters a week with only hearing lecture on 4 of said chapters is a lot for people who have jobs outside of school. I am almost done with my time here and I would recommend this school for those wanting to learn and possibly start a career in IT. Again, Dr. Haskins is an awesome, awesome instructor, and I hope he teaches more courses in the future.Brian Moller

I really enjoyed the MA program and I learned so much. Something that I really appreciated about the school is that we had ALL the resources we need for certification studying–and all of the professors are extremely knowledgeable about their fields and gave plenty of tips and tricks for how to maximize your potential in the field. The biggest reason I'm sticking to four stars is that I had a pretty bad experience with one of my professors and I don't agree with some of the attendance procedures–having no absences excused unless the school cancels classes isn't reflective of an individual student's situation (I know this first-hand), but all-in-all, it's a nine month program, and the amount you learn and experience completely outweighs the poor aspects.Kendall Eley

I can only speak about my experiences here at Pima but I can honestly say it’s been life changing for me. I’ve completed my Registered Dental assistant program and I’m currently half way through my Radiology program and all I can say is that I’ve had nothing but good instructors in both programs. They really push you towards succeeding and the classes are well developed for you to learn. The prices are a little over the top but seeing how it’s a institute it’s expected.
