I took the CNA ‘Plus’ programme there back in October 2021. For $2395 we never got a clinical! And the facilities and equipment provided were unbelievable! One mannequin with its leg falling out and not even a proper night gown to keep it from being exposed! Sheets were dirty! Equipment faulty, and now we are STILL waiting to take our state licensure exams! If you’re taking the CNA programme, do not take the “plus part” it is a waste of money and time. State Street U is amazing. I attended 22 years ago and stopped by for the first time since then and I was amazed to find, updated buildings, a beautiful store, and a whole new feel. The professors and professionals were mostly great when I was there and though I don't attend, I had a chance to talk to administrators and they are still amazing. First and foremost, Norwalk Community College was the first two-year college known since 1960, and they have been serving and assisting students in achieving the school readiness you have always desired but if you have struggled at some point. NCC will assist you in overcoming your obstacles to the point where you feel smart, confident, and accomplished. This college is my top choice because it is affordable, not overcrowded, has a super clean and safe building, and has no historically known hate crime in the area, which is an A+ in today's environment. On top of that, NCC is the most well-funded community college, the most prestigious, and has the highest share of incredible professors than any other community college in the region. But it won't motivate you to succeed. You have to do that yourself. And if you do not find that drive within yourself in time, do not blame the college for your shortcomings. I recently was enrolled in the graduate cohort for reading and writing. I have been teaching for almost 10 years and found most of the classes insulting. I felt I knew more than the cohort professors and learned very little new. Many of the text books were from early 2000. Considering the vast changes in LA recently, I felt many classes provided information that was not up to curent reading philosphies and/or research. The rubrics were so convoluted that the professors couldn't figure them out or they did not pertain to the topic. Many classes were spent going back and forth over the rubrics only to have them change again. Knowing what I do now, I would not waste the money, but would have done an on-line course for 1/3 the price.K Palmer

I am now a confident woman that isn't afraid to voice my opinion or share my insights. I went to WCSU in The Woodstock 60's. It was so small then, a blip on the radar with only a few buildings for classes, but something wonderful happened. I was given special attention and sent to Yale University to audition for it's School of Drama and I was accepted. I was coached by a director, an English prof. and a Theater Arts instructor who taught English before there was a Theater Arts program at WCSU. Thanks to them, our tiny group of drama hopefuls had the opportunity to test run a real Off Broadway Play before it was cast. Our director was a friend of the Playwright. I had the lead in that production and thanks to that I was chosen to audition for Yale, and thoroughly coached by the team. Because of them I made it. I did not go to Yale due to personal issues but the point is that there were great people willing to go beyond the scope of their requirements and guide someone to the place where they could succeed. WCSU has grown into a fine institution because it has great roots. Go visit and see what I mean.Judith A Rowland

This University is like a breath of fresh air among the other CSU's, I would highly recommend, from the staff to the OpenClose program which sorts all the classes so neatly and nicely, to the overall atmosphere of the town itself (*thats also because many of the other state colleges/universities are put in very crime filled neighborhoods) WCSU makes its very easy as well to transfer taking ALL transfer credits from the other universities, as well as if your communication major like myself, they offer many classes over the summer to help you catch up or even to learn more. Got my MBA here. The faculty is quite smart and is genuinely interested in your success. Specifically, the marketing, supply chain, and finance professors are top notch. If you get the opportunity to study abroad for Taiwan, which is available as an undergrad as well, absolutely do it. Amazing people to network with and friends that came out of class, overall very rewarding experience. The college has had notable difficulty with their health and safety as of the writing of this that took 1 star away from my rating. I spent a year and change at the school, but I'd go again if I found the need to go back to school.Eric

This is a really good school if you’re all about your academics. I’ve had my good times and my bad times here at MCC. Overall on the academic side of MCC I appreciate all of the hard work that most of my professors have done. There are professors here that definitely need to be more qualified with what they are teaching as it has affected my grades when I’ve taken their courses. I am an Honor student here at MCC with a GPA of 3.30 and have never once had an issue with organization skills until my 2019 spring semester. A couple of the professors have been unorganized, no syllabus and sometimes they have other priorities when they have to teach a class in other words they put another professor in place when they have to go to another job. Although these were a couple of issues within my time here at MCC I enjoyed the experience of learning new knowledge for my future career. I really liked a lot of my professors but a couple of them have been a little rough. If you communicate with your professors about your issues that you’re having it really helps and shows that you’re determined to do your work and it shows you care about your work as well. Environment wise I’d have to say it’s not healthy (mentally/physically) and or good for many people. There have been students who have left garbage all over the place and don’t clean up after themselves which leads to maintenance having to clean it all up. With my time here I have helped maintenance clean up other people’s messes so they don’t have to worry about it as much. Also the amount of vaping, drug use, and underage drinking in the lounge is unacceptable and nothing has been done to take care of this issue except shutting the lounge down. I feel as if this does nothing but illustrates that they can go elsewhere within the college and do these things. An authority figure should really take this into consideration and do something about this because it affects others who have nothing to do with these people and it ruins people’s Health. You can smell weed from a mile away and if people have asthma or a health condition this could affect them physically. I do not appreciate this at all and I wish something was done about it. The other big issue environmentally is the fact that the main cafeteria can get very loud and some students have no manners and do not respect others around them. If they are asked to quiet down they do the opposite It has gotten to the point where a lot of people have complained and yet nothing is done to prevent this from happening again. The college needs to have some control over what students do and take action on these issues. I wish that there could be some changes here and I hope for the best for everyone at MCC. Overall it is a good school for your academics but is definitely not a mentally healthy place environmentally. Even if you try to get away and go somewhere else for privacy somehow drama follows behind you. A Tip would be after your classes go home if you can or go to the back of the library in the quiet study room. So I will start with sharing my positive highlights of the fall semester during covid. Some teachers were empathetic to the situation the entire nation went through. Prof. Muldoon did such an amazing job touching base and gaining clarity of students frustration and technical difficulties during this time. Prof Diane. Hillyer OMG if I were ever to be a college professor I’d want to have her passion and dedication. She’s a math angel, truly loves her job and her videos were perfect! Now chemistry online and labs online were a joke!!! The professor did not make enough office hours, used YouTube videos from other teachers, used repetitive templates for each week lesson with no data. If I wanted to learn chemistry that way I could’ve honestly gone on Edx.org for FREE and probably have learned the curriculum better. I might of missed 1 assignment and handed in 1 assignment 10 mins late and didn’t receive the grade or support needed. But unfortunately as a paying student I just have to deal with it, 2k down the drain! Funny thing I am also a teacher during covid and actually work in the building with student and never would I have ever made my students feel isolated like this professor did. I’ve never seen or heard my chemistry teachers voice but I’m pretty sure they got paid every two weeks while there’s probably many qualified teachers that could have done a way better job. I was warned about this professor but I learned the hard way. The school overall has a nice faculty and I feel like the majority do care. This is unfortunate when professor get so accustomed to a repetitive lifestyle because blackboard actually graded my exams so again not sure what some professor did during Covid behind the scene and so-called virtual teaching. I was a potential international student and found Manchester Community College a great place to go. I called the first time and wasn’t able to talk to the responsible for international students but left my phone number and email. Umesh sent me an email saying he would give me a call. He did, two days later and was rude and impatient since the moment I picked up the phone and was acting like he was doing me a favor to call me. He said I should go back to my country and take my visa there instead of changing my status here, which is not up to him, was questioning how I was gonna become a student and more. I can’t even explain how rude and disrespectful he was to me who was just trying to make an appointment to go to the campus and get more informations in person about fees and the I20. I first came to Goodwin for a Manufacturing Career Fair on August 2014. My plan going in was to improve/expand my professional network but after introducing myself to the two ladies at the front door, I was escorted to the admissions office. During this impromptu meeting I learned of their range of Manufacturing programs ranging from a Collegiate Certificate to Bachelor's Degrees. The lady I met with was very nice so I decided to let her run through her whole pitch before refusing. After she finished running through her speech I was about to politely decline when my eyes fell upon a pamphlet detailing their Certificate in CNC Machining. My attitude switched from polite dismissal to serious consideration. By the time the holiday season was in force, I had officially enrolled. From the Spring 2015 – Fall 2016 semesters, I experienced the most fulfilling education of my life. Classes tailored to my major were taught by professors with real-life experience in the manufacturing field. Knowledge gained from operating machines in the school's shop helped me secure my first manufacturing based job (which at the time of this review, I have been at for over a year). Around two weeks ago I walked in the 2017 Commencement with my CNC Certificate AND Associate's Degree (Summa Cum Laude!!!). Making the choice to again become a student with Goodwin College is one I do not regret, in spite of my now increased loan debt. Looking for a quality education with real life application? I graduated in 2006 with a General Business Degree the Staff and Faculty were all very helpful and on top of their jobs. I signed back for classes in 2013 for my Bachelor's Degree in Business unfortunately the staff and faculty changed in a Very Negative way. I had Mr. Rotondo as my Advisor who had me taking classes that i had previously taken also the Black Board Online classes system kept going down I another class were i completed the work on time but their system did not register my work it had been idled for 36 or more hours and never registered my work causing me a NS for the class this caused a snowball affect to the downfall of me no longer attending classes. I talked with Professor Valeria he advised i write some sort of letter which i did explaining the double classes Mr. Rotondo had me take due to him not paying attention to my previous classes for He was my teacher in 2004-2006. So far I love the complex, the professor are really nice and helpful. They want you to pass the class for sure. The only thing I can complain is for the service of Financial Aid. I am a transfer from Lincoln College and when I was about to change they explain me that it would be cheaper or about the same. Before classes start I went to Financial Aid to see how much it was going to cost me, but they didn't have any information of me yet. Then I received a message saying "to not go to financial aid" I could start right away. I went again the day before start and they couldn't tell me anything. They charge already for the semester, it shown in my credit report, this is my third week of class and I do not even know if is the same as Lincoln, more expensive or less.Christian Diaz

I have to admit, after being accepted to the Master's program early in 2014 I was nervous attending graduate school. I was unsure of what type of situations I would encounter, and what type of curriculum I would face. After the first day of orientation, I knew that the University of Bridgeport was the best choice for me. The staff and professors in my department are extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The classes I have taken have not only improved educational leadership qualities, but have also helped improve my mathematical prowess. Although the classes may seem difficult at time, my professors demonstrated an excellent balance in challenging students while holding their interest. I have created many long lasting friendships as well with the students in my program. In concurrence with our education progress, we find ourselves continuously engaging in a sort of fellowship that I have not experienced elsewhere. In essence, the phrase "work hard, play harder" seems fitting. We have fun in class, and we get to work when we need to. I find that my professors are equally as entertained as my fellow students, helping to aid in the maintenance of the positive climate in the classrooms. If anyone reading this is nervous or unsure of their decision to attend the University of Bridgeport, as someone who previously felt the same way I offer the following advice: don't be. This is a phenomenal University with amazing programs and a delightful professional staff. They will help guide you to success by any means necessary. I am currently a freshman at UB almost finishing my first semester, I am majoring in the health sciences and hopefully 4 years from now I will be doing my masters in Chiropractic. I came to America all the way from Indonesia, I studied at an international school so I have met people from many different countries and cultures, UB made me feel like I never left that sense of living in an international environment because of all the diverse cultures that you find here. Professors, Students and Staff are very open and very supportive if you need any help and the fact that UB is a very small school makes it a better sense of community among students. Classes are good and challenging, resources are provided if in the need of help just like tutoring or counseling. I had the chance to make many close friends in just a few months from different backgrounds, friends that have become a second family to me. As a current undergraduate student studying International Political Economy and Diplomacy (IPED), I've had nothing short of a wonderful experience at UB. I can only speak for my major, but I love my program. Most of my classes are engaging, and my teachers are always available to talk and answer questions outside of class which is much appreciated. The thing that I love most about UB is the diversity. Especially studying in a internationally focused major, there's a huge difference in talking about events throughout the world, and actually hearing a first person perspective from someone who is from that country. This place is a perfect example of “you get what you pay for”. I attended September 2009 – May 2018 (with a 3 year gap from 2012-2015). The hospitality teachers and department head were wonderful, and a lot of my general Ed teachers were amazing too and I have nothing but great things to say about the teachers. However, the registrar office and academic advisors were a nightmare to deal with. No one ever smiles, my message NEVER got relayed to the right person, and it was such a headache to deal with offices equivalent to dealing with the DMV. They also claimed that when you graduate you can transfer your credits to a state college which is false. Some of the credits transferred, but classes like Math don’t transfer and I have to take a placement test to get into the same exact math class I took at Gateway and passed the class with an A. The bookstore staff was the most incapable, rude, useless group of people. Graduation was a completely unorganized joke – they told graduates to arrive 2 hours early to stand in a parking lot with no instruction and 1 porta potty for about 300 people. They also only announce 1 of your degrees – so if you have 3 degrees they won’t even take the extra 5 seconds to announce all 3 (I thought graduation was supposed to recognize your achievements?) I would have never wasted my time going to graduation if I knew how pathetic it would be. Parking on campus in New Haven was crazy and the lot constantly overflows into the Temple Street lot so you get to walk in stairways that smell like urine with bums roaming the lot and drunk people stumbling to their car after your class at 9:30 at night with no security guards to get to your car. Literally no security whatsoever like your completely on your own in a public lot in the heart of New Haven. Like most schools, they don’t allow weapons inside the building so you don’t even have a way to defend yourself if you get approached in the lot which will happen at some point. There were also hospitality classes that I had to buy things out of pocket and was promised reimbursement that never happened.Nina Tiso

I loved working with the children in the Early Learning Center, but the adults in the classroom didn't really treat me that well. They didn't really accommodating me that well when it came to tasks such as setting the table for breakfast,lunch, and snack. A coworker got nasty because I wasnt moving fast enough for her. I'm visually impaired and I have to take my time because of my vision. I had to complain about this coworker 2 times. Another thing that didnt make sense was I had to walk to the other side of campus to eat lunch for my 30 minute break. The teacher of the classroom would get mad at me for being late because I am a slow eater and I cant move fast again because of my bad vision. student teachers aren't allowed to eat in the teachers lounge. I shouldn't have had to complain to my boss about eating in the teacher lounge. This place needs to be more accommodating to student teachers with disabilities and staff needs to be more compassionate. I am very glad that I don't work at this place anymore! I was in their old building on Long wharf years ago, and seeing how they've grown and progressed into what I consider a university now, is life changing for the people attending this college. As F-1 visa international student, I would say that ASA College is a great place for our educational and career goals. Professors are responsive and very collaborative as well as helpful. During my education in ASA College I was able to make friends with students from different parts of world. The most of them are my lifetime friends now. Classes are not too big. Therefore, providing a tremendous opportunity to study and excel your knowledge and/or skills. You would think that this school being a “community college” they are more understanding of financial situations and are more efficient with financial aid an other “programs” they offer. Not this school! Not only does every single person in the financial aid office treat you just like another person asking for handouts but depending on what staff you run into behind the desk you might not even get the correct information! I went to the financial aid office yesterday due to the fact that I found out when trying to register for classes for spring 2018 that I was on a financial “probation” these people gave me NO NOTICE NO CALL NO NOTHING but that’s the least of my worry at this point. I go to their office the girl behind the desk had told me due to me getting a D in my math class last semester of 2017 financial aid was skeptical about covering classes for this upcoming semester so I would have to appeal( good thing I came a week before registRtion was over ) I appeal the form then I get a notice in the mail saying I’ve been only approved for 1 class this semester up to 6 credits. I was a little bothered, but I took it, I go down to finally register once again! Then I was told I didn’t have enough for books an technically they were only covering up to 3 credits an my class is 4 so I owe the school clerk a balance of $23.00 and now I’m also expected to pay for my text book. 6 days before class starts … what happened to the notice they sent me that said they cover up to six credits???? literally because I struggled in my math class last semester an got a D I’m going through all this torture as someone who is barely able to pay my own freaking bills at 20 an living by myself just trying to get my own education, every Semester it’s something else with this school the office people SUCK they are there for a job an that’s it. Then When you ask to speak to someone in charge of financial aide they torture you with hold for atleast a good 20 minutes on the phone ( probably praying for you to hang up) unless your willing to take 2 and three trips down to the office which is no problem probably for someone who doesn’t works full time.so now that the semester is getting ready to start an they feel like they did their part by covering the “majority” of my class (3 out of 4 credits, which my paper says they should cover up to 6 credits at least but whatever) I’m now expected to fend for myself an purchase a $200 text book within the next six days. Professors and fellow students are great but the administration and admissions process is a night mare. Little to no help to navigate threw the process. No one is willing to answer question. They always refer you to another person. Example: Me: Can you please tell me how I can access the wifi here? Advisor: You will have to contact a student advisor for that. Me: :/ Avoid online courses here. Professor did not make access easy. Not clear as to what material is needed. If professor isn't able to help you navigate course or they themselves aren't sure of what to do you will still be responsible for payment. Only time in my life I hired a professional service and they were unable to preform paid for task and I was still responsible for payment. And of course there is no one available to talk to about this and if there is no one knows who it is to refer you. If you do decide to take courses here try to make friends with other students that have already been threw the admissions/ administration nightmare. Don't take online. 1: I registered for a class and dropped it a before week prior to it starting, boy was I in for a surprise bill. $120 for a class I didn’t even step foot in, let alone it didn’t even start when I dropped it. What a SCAM. Of course I had no choice but to pay it. So just be cautious when you’re registering for a class, because you cannot change you’re mind and not expect to pay a fee even if the class hasn’t begun. 2: If you’re “graduating” be sure to wait months for your actual diploma to be delivered. Very unorganized system they have going there. I graduated in may and have yet to receive any proof of it. My transcript is still not updated with my current degree and my diploma is who knows where. Sucks. 3. If you’re receiving financial aid and you’re registered for a class and the school decides they want to cancel it, be prepared to repay financial aid back.S G

WORST.SCHOOL.EVER!! I hope they close down for good VERY SOON! There's no motivation or inspiration at all in this school whatsoever. The counselors and teachers are horrendous!! For every 5 teachers there, only 1 teacher is decent! They hold back their students far too long from achieving their true potential and don't even get me started on the atrocious time consuming and full of adversity enrollment process!! If you're still stuck taking a remedial/non credit class; instead of being able to register online LIKE IT SHOULD BE FOR EVERY STUDENT, you're instead forced to go all the way to Valhalla to register for classes EVERY semester until you've passed ALL their pointless non credited classes! Very excruciating and appalling for any student! Their counselors are always putting down students, not one can potentially uplift you when it comes to succeeding in school. This school is entirely all a scam. They will give you classes that do not pertain to your major and leave the big fat F on your transcript if you fail it, even if you're a Math and Science student that was given a social worker class that has absolutely nothing to do with your program!!!Toki Sing

Miserable place. Professors don’t care. They have people who don’t speak English teaching the math department. Those in the financial building are miserable, uninformative and rude. Nobody communicates!! Financial Tells you one thing and the counselors say something different. Totally unorganized and made my college experience a miserable one. They prioritize minorities and even questioned me on why I’m not on financial aid. Teachers WILL fail you if you don’t agree with their POLITICAL views. Community college is supposed to be affordable, but they manage to shake you down for every little penny. I was pretty skeptical about going back to school during this plandemic and now that I’m back in school, I wish I would’ve saved my money. The website says lab classes will be conducted online but it’s actually remote. If you want to pay full tuition for a partial education, then this is the place for you. The people who work in the administrative building specifically the Bursar’s office don’t care. The administrative building is physically closed so the only way to communicate is via email. I have been emailing the manager of the Bursar’s office, Marcia, for weeks to no avail. No one cares, they just want your money. A money sucking machine.Schneia Robinson

Although my professors have been awesome, the university as a whole is horribly disorganized and mismanaged. The various staff of different departments are uniformly rude and uninformed. I've gotten wrong and/or misleading information on basic protocol literally EVERY SINGLE TIME I've spoken with someone (where do I submit work study requests? Can I still carry student insurance if I'm part-time?) Regarding the insurance, I was told "yes" by 2 different pople. HOWEVER, the answer to that is it's automatically cancelled when you register online for classes and it is received as part-time, so then you have to re-enroll as a new client at a higher rate. I found this out when I was trying to fill a prescription and after much investigation found out that my insurance had been cancelled. This is one of the MANY problems I've experienced with Southern administration. Equally as faulty, is the technology "services" that Southern uses. Windows 7 computers in the computer labs that take (no joke) 5-20 mins to log you on if there are more than 3 people in the room and remote printing that requires an installation on your laptop every time you want to use it. This is recommend since you'll otherwise sit for 20 mins for the lab computer to log on and then progress to opening and printing a file at the speed of dial-up. If you need to reach anyone (computing services, the bookstore) for questions, you'll be strained to find contact info outside of the (203)392-SCSU main office number. A detailed Google search rarely finds the phone numbers associated with specific offices. Most recently, for the past month as Southern has started the fall semester, their network has become so overloaded that the mail server periodically un-syncs all of my devices from their email (iPhone, Mac) so I don't get mail or know that an email I sent never actually sent, since it doesn't appear in ANY outbox or draft folder from any device. But since it happens off-and-on, as the SCSU network comes and goes as it pleases, I've not known about the missed emails until someone tells about a group email I missed. Lastly, and kinda most importantly, Southern's crap internet system occasionally doesn't recognize my password for Bannerweb, email, and Blackboard. Confoundingly, this doesn't occur on these applications all in one sitting. MANY TIMES I've sat and typed my password into Blackboard 5+ times and magically after repeated entries it suddenly works!!! Always had the same problem logging into "myscsu" and trying to get my email back online to the Southern server. Recommendation: If you're enrolling as a full-time undergraduate, I would HIGHLY recommend looking for a school elsewhere because you're DEFINITELY not getting your money's worth at this institution. Note: they also have no funding for student work study anymore, so don't count on that for extra money/tuition expenses. If you're taking classes part-time, for a job or continuing education, it will be a frustrating experience, but not a total waste of money. Botton line, I rated 2 stars because the professors and experiences with classmates have been awesome this past year, but the university as a whole is beyond frustrating.Jennifer Vollmer

im usually not the type of person to be negative and leave lengthy reviews but this is so necessary being that im so extremely disappointed with this school! I went for a tour in November of 2017 fell in love with the campus so I decided to apply as a transfer student in April of 2018! I sent in my fee waiver form April 20th I was told it takes 2-3weeks to hear back from the school, ok cool! here it is a MONTH later still no response, nor any communication to even let me know they've received my fee waiver form and that id be hearing from them soon or whatever the case may be just complete silence!!! not to mention the students that answer the phone are very rude and snappy! I withdrew my application and applied to Iona college! I applied with them got an acceptance letter, got my financial situation settled, paid my deposit all within a week, easy as 1,2,3 as it SHOULD be. Its an excellent school with a countless number of awards, i feel as though the process of applying to schools should be as easy and stress free as possible! Im extremely dissatisfied with my experience with this school it literally had everything I was looking for campus wise, but everything happens for a reason and being that Im going into the education field I've been told from numerous amounts of educators that im better off getting a job, with a degree from Iona under my belt. The purpose of this review is not to trash talk or to persuade anyone into not applying here but rather to allow others to be aware of what they may possibly come into contact with when applying to this school and perhaps a change can come about for the next student. : ) Blessings.Alexa Griffin

If I could give Southern zero stars I absolutely would. They are extremely unorganized, they don't care about you as a student AT ALL.. They cancelled a BIO class that I really needed a week before classes start. I emailed the head of the department asking for a solution and all I got was a too bad.. Now because of this I have to attend an extra semester and will not be graduating in time.. They offer classes at odd times which makes it hard for you to sign up for classes back to back, so far the professors I had don't care about you and are not understanding.. I graduated from Western Connecticut and I never had a problem with them and now because of Southern I have to spend more of my time and money that I don't have…Barbara Monteiro

The college will do anything to get your money and be admitted, and that's where the niceties end. Their website is contradictory, and they are slow to respond to questions and concerns. You can't trust what they say either because half the time they tell you information that is incorrect. They also rip students off by charging a semester fee of $245/semester (do legitimate colleges do that? NO), and they force you to take 2 courses through the college. One being an online "cornerstone" course where you have to spend about $1350 in ADDITION to the 2 English course that are required by the college. It's basically a dumbed down version of the 2 english course requirements (which can be taken elsewhere), so they can make money out of you. I would STRONGLY recommend getting anything that is said or promised in writing (or record it), because they will make mistakes, and then deny it when called out on it. They are not really professional, and the entire experience is amateur at best. That said, I was able to get a degree for less than $5,000 (I tested out of all the requirements except for the two requirements), but if I could do it again, I would have gone with Thomas Edison State College (which is a state school in New Jersey for testing out of a degree like Charter Oak) instead which has no residency requirements, and can be completely tested out of. I also think the name sounds more legit than "Charter Oak."M M

I did have a helpful advisor, however, the financial aid (FA) department was difficult to get in touch with. I had to go down to the New Britain office in person 3 times and then call & email the office several times before getting even one issue resolved. After a year of their callous responses, I sent an email to the FA office to complain. They basically responded to me by calling me a liar and trying to discredit me! It was terribly unprofessional. Charter Oak treated me as just another faceless number. The lack of personalization and unfriendly response from the employees showed me that I did not matter. I felt mistreated on their end. Don’t waste your money on a school that will refuse to hear you out and better their efforts. I wasn’t even looking for anything in return; I just wanted them to know that they needed improvement. There are a lot of areas where I think Charter Oak State College could improve but, the fact of the matter is, I got my BS here and probably spent less than 5,000 dollars. TOTAL! All these people complaining about the cost of higher education need to look at schools like Charter Oak. They have little in the way of credit-residency requirements — I was only required to take eight credits in-house — and they let you test out of as many credits as you like. For a fast, self-directed learner such as myself, it was perfect. My only caution is that I've found it very difficult to get into graduate school with my degree, despite some excellent grades and standardized test scores. This will probably be a review that management will never see or just consider another “complaining patient.” This is a huge hospital company so this will not mean anything but if anyone is thinking about bringing their little one here, try somewhere else. My son (1yrs old) was sent here from urgent care his o2 stat was low and trouble breathing. We got put in a room with another person, not admitted. They gave a treatment and never re assessed him, left him for 3 and a half hours. My husband tried to ask the nurse if she can check him again.. never came back. He then had to complain to the charge nurse which she gave us a number for patient experience- which I know will go know where. We are one patient among thousands, and feel like we’re expressing our feelings that will go in one ear and out the other since they’re just a big company. It’s sad that there wasn’t any concern for my poor baby to even get the least amount of care.the bare minimum. Not even above and beyond just check on him atleast!! I understand there are priority patients, but how does one know if he is a priority with his repository issues if he hasn’t even been checked on. Unacceptable. My husband is a healthcare provider and this is NOT quality care.taybabe

I am at a complete loss. We have made and cancelled appointments for my son with a doctor at ccmc and we can’t get him there. No one asks why we can’t get there. Just says okay, we’ll cancel. When I attempt explain his illness, no one cares. We were referred to this doctor because he has a great reputation and the fact he was familiar with my son’s illness. Now my son will consider to suffer with a serious life altering illness until I can find another doctor who understands his illness. It is disappointing how service has decreased at the hospital in the last few years. I won’t get into our ER experience last year. If your child does not have a well known illness, go elsewhere.Tarra Baron

My son has a hemangioma that was growing incredibly close to his eye. The team quickly assessed and recommended a plan of treatment that we were able to begin within a week. The plan required us to have a 5 hour long appointment so that he could be monitored for his first dose of the medication. I was there for 5 hours with my 2 year old and my 2 month old and they could not have made the experience better for us. The staff were all amazing and kind. Staff consistently checked on us and every question I had was listened to and answered with great detail. I was very impressed with our experience!Lynelle Wibberley

Thank you NEMI for the great experience! I started the class in late July early August with the online self paced cna program and then went rifht to the lab and labs skills. Right from the get go I was told everything I needed to know even about the clinical waiver which was is process. We were asked to sign a covid form which explained all the requirements that CT DPH set to graduate. The teacher Tymel and owner were great! The responsiveness was unbelievable! Anytime I had a question or wanted to know when the waiver would be approved they told me the most up to date information. I even emailed the DPH to see what was taking so long and they explained it is a process and NEMI had no authority, like mentioned, to process our certificates until they received the clinical waiver. Northeast Medical helped me attain my Temp NA to use for the mean time. The hands on skill training and the online were excellent! They go very much in depth about what happens in nursing homes and brings it to life by representing the nursing home with short video clips. WELL TODAY IS THE DAY! I RECEIVED AN EMAIL THAT THE WAIVER WAS APPROVED! Now I can go and get tested at a prometric testing facility! I would highly recommend this school, they kept us safe during covid with their mandatory protocols and allowed me to attain my cna certificate of completion online!Matt D

I am currently taking the CNA course and have already learned so much in my first three days. My instructors, Nitra and Najera, are incredibly informative and make the class fun. I also had the pleasure of taking Sean’s BLS class, and am pleased to say he made 3 hours feel like 30 minutes…which is a good thing. He was easy to follow, helpful, and kept the class engaged. I had to take my CPR class here for work. My instructor was Sean and he was wonderful! I was the only student in the class so I was able to ask as many questions as I wanted. Sean was intricate in his answers and went through the entire class without missing a single important detail. Mildred Elley is a great school to come learn. The teachers have had outside experiences related to the career choice that you are going to school for whether that be an LPN or cosmo. The school is structured so they offer small classroom environments, hands on teaching and unlimited resources to help you be the best you can be. I started in January and so far have taking all my pre reqs needed I am officially in their LPN program and will finish next March roughly. They do 8 week modules not semesters so you do not get sick of one class for too long. I have met so many amazing students and teachers since January and I'm happy I am finished my college certificate classes here!Tiffany Schmidt

I graduated May 2017 and within a few weeks was hired where I did my internship. In March 2018 I was downsized and no longer had a job. I went there next day to see Danielle in career services. She said she would look at my resume and email me. I haven't heard a single thing from her and it's now almost the beginning of September. I did 3 programs at Mildred Elley; accounting, medical administrative assistant, and clinical medical assistant. At the moment I'm working a temp job as an assembler for minimum wage. Mildred Elley is a place where you can grow both intellectually and academically. Upon enrolling in their Clinical Medical Assisting program I received nothing but kindness from a faculty and staff that are willing to go above and beyond for any hardworking student. I appreciate all that they have done for me there. The staff and faculty are easy to talk to when there is a conflict and willing to help in anyway to resolve the problem. I really enjoyed that the staff and faculty know you on a first name basis,which is not something that you can get at any other colleges.Kaitlyn L

I knew from the moment I found out I was expecting that Bright Horizons would be the place for my son. At just 10 weeks old, my baby started in the infant program. It’s never easy to send your baby to school and sending him that young was heartbreaking. The light that got me through that was the wonderful staff at Village Place. I can leave my son with his teachers and know that he’s not only taken care of, but deeply loved. His primary teachers, Ms. Amber & Ms. Breanna, are truly phenomenal. They plan wonderful activities for the children in their classroom, some of which we’ve used in our own home as well. They are sure to leave detailed notes in the app as well as pictures. I appreciate their diligence in notifying me of any concerns as well as my baby’s successes. Our family appreciates them immensely. The whole infant program teaching team is truly the best that I’ve seen and I feel so lucky that my child is loved and cared for by each of them. The infant/toddler area coordinator is easily accessible with any questions or concerns I may have about my son and meets me with educated, reassuring responses. The rest of the center staff is wonderful as well. Teachers my son doesn’t even have will greet him by name when we enter the building. We love Bright Horizons! My daughter has been attending Bright Horizons Village Place for the past three years. She and I are actually very sad to say goodbye because she is going on to Kindergarten next year. I have been so impressed with the staff over the years, always providing fun and education for my daughter, and keeping me in the loop about her emotions, her strengths, weaknesses, her growth and achievements. They clearly care about her and are just as proud of her as I am. The facility is beautiful and cleanable and I appreciate that the children go outside everyday multiple times. I was impressed with how much they teach the kids, I feel my daughter is more than ready for Kindergarten now. They teach about nature, science, emotions, letters, patterns, math etc. I'm always pleased to hear the new things my daughter tells me she learned at school. The app they use to keep parents informed about what they did for the day is great too because parents can see what their kids are doing during the day and talk to them about it when they get home. I also cherish and will miss the pictures they send daily! The whole experience has been wonderful and they will be greatly missed and always remembered. This center truly goes above and beyond any expectations we have ever had in a childcare facility. Choosing Bright Horizons was both the hardest and the best decision we have had to make for our children. Both of our girls have been enrolled since they were four months old and we will be enrolling our newborn son within the next few months. Our oldest just graduated and is excelling in kindergarten. Both of our girls have an absolute love for learning that I know was instilled in them by the staff at Bright Horizons. The teachers and administrators are consistent, compassionate, educated, loving, and enthusiastic. Beyond the highest quality of early childhood education they have provided, and perhaps even more importantly, they have continued to keep my children safe even during this crazy time. I’ve never once doubted the safety of my children in their care. Their COvid procedures are no exception. They are on top of every guideline while still making transitions comfortable for the kids. I started the electrical program in June of 2021 and had a pleasant experience to start. I was in a class with about twelve other students and felt that I was learning and retaining information adequately partly due to the class size. Fast forward a few months and our class has almost quadrupled in size. Half of the class is required to sit in one room and watch the instructor on a projector while he is in another room with the other half of the class. It is now to the point where students have to rely on other students to teach them certain things because of how thin the instructors have been stretched. I, as well as numerous other students, have voiced their displeasure with administration multiple times but we've essentially been told that it's something were gonna have to deal with. I can't speak highly enough on behalf of the instructors Mr. Sterling and Mr. DeFelice who clearly care about their student's education, but it is evident that Lincoln Tech (New Britain) as a whole does not. I can't speak on behalf of the other Lincoln Tech campuses but I imagine they are run similar. If you are someone looking at tech schools I implore you to look at all your options.Tyler Mattioda

When I first applied it was to go into the nursing program but I was discouraged by the person I met with. She said since I was a single parent it would be hard for me to take and keep up with classes and referred me to apply to the medical assistant program instead which I reluctantly did. (Big mistake) even though I had made deans list, was one of the top in the class grades wise and had a 3.76 gpa I was placed last for an "externship" and then when placed I was placed in a small office that didn't need an extra medical assistant. I didn't get a job and wasn't helped securing one either. I was so pissed I didn't even show to graduation! I also aced my Registration exam the first time and was THE only person in my class to get registered or certified. I wasted time away from my child and had to take out two loans I'm STILL paying for with nothing to show. I always discourage people from going here because it's not worth it. And the kicker!!! Placed want at least a year or 2 experience before they hire you so it's extremely hard to find work when you only get less than a months training in your field! Would've been better off at a community college or 4 year school.kanosha norman

I looked into this school a few years ago, and when i showed up to take the tour they said i first had to sign in by writing my name and phone number down on the sign-in sheet. I felt uncomfortable doing this, but they wouldn't give me the tour unless I provided them with my phone number for some reason. Well, it turns out that the reason is so that they can continue to sent you text messages begging you to attend their school, even several years after you already decided not to. Blocking the number doesn't work either as they use a different number each time. If you decide to look into this school, i *highly* recommend providing them with a fake phone number when you sign in.Andrew Preston

I’ve debated on weather or not to post but everyone asks me if I would recommend this school. The teachers there are amazing, they want to make sure you learn and know what you are doing. To be honest once you get to clinical they forget about you. I asked for help on multiple occasions because I was struggling with a protocol, I was told “we will put a schedule for you to come to the school with a teacher to learn more and you will go to the hospital one day a week” this was in addition to be already being at a clinic site 5 days a week. That never happened, I was told during one meeting when I asked to switch to vascular so I can have that experience on my resume that if the general site I was at now liked me I should stay because if I make a good impression they will let other students go to that site. I give credit to my teachers but that’s about the only good thing I can say about this school. I’ve had employers say they won’t hire if you go to this school because of the reputation. I know they’ve made changed and added staff since I graduated last summer but I would suggest making sure you do all your research on what accreditation’s the school actually has before making your choice on where to get your education. I thankfully was able to find a job on my own many months afterwards. Do your research and look up their accreditation’s before signing any contract with them.Lindsey Genovese

I recently graduated from AIHT, Cardiovascular Technology program. I did my clinical hours at Windham Hospital in Willimantic where I got hired right after. During covid, I realized how important the healthcare field was so I decided that I wanted to pursue my career in the medical field. After searching for and touring a few schools in my area I chose the AIHT ultrasound program. Lauren and Ravish were very helpful explaining all the steps and processes. As a single mother, AIHT’s flexible hybrid program enabled me to balance my personal life and school schedule really well. Upon completion of my clinical hours I felt really confident about my knowledge and felt comfortable taking the CCI board exam. I scored a 845 and officially became Registered Cardiac Sonographer. Finally, I want to thank all of the instructors and staff at AIHT for enabling me to start my new journey in the medical field as a Cardiac Sonographer.Yossinee Israsena

I'm very happy I found AIHT school which fit into my schedule and was close to my house. All the professors and administrators were good and helpful. I'm very THANKFUL for having KRISTEN & DONALD as ECHO scanning instructors because they really benefited me and made a great impact in my career. They are very knowledgeable and have plenty years of experience. They were very helpful and prepared me for the hospital environment. Stamford hospital crew were amazing and I can't thank them enough for helping me pursue my true dream. I'm overall thankful for the program.
