I wish we had never sent our student to TLU. It is way too small and everyone is overly concerned to be in everyone else's business. The Men's Soccer coach (Eddie Salazar) makes the recruits think he is a nice guy and cares for his players. As soon as they get on campus he becomes a complete Ass. He burns through players so fast and does not care for them personally at all. Our son could not leave there fast enough. The campus infection rate is very low. My son loves attending TLU. The student to teacher ratio is low and my son loves getting to know his professors so well. Service was great, but not happy that my cleaning is taking up 2 half days. Dont understand how we use to go & get a cleaning within a 4 hour period & now it's taking 8 hours to do. My son Graduated from Coastal Bend College today. It was held at the gym. It was crowded, but everyone was nice. It was air conditioned and i felt comfortable. The ladies Bathroom was clean. Everything was organized and ran smoothly. So proud of my son!Monett McHazlett Ermis

The housing staff is horrible, they have put 2 charges on my account and they admitted to not knowing how they got my name however they refused to take it off even when the camera showed I never stayed, 3 weeks later I spoke to Hr for them to remove it and they did it the same day. The other one was removed 2 weeks later after the payment date. I would also recommend you bring in your own food or check it before leaving the dinning hall. I found so much mold and was served under cooked to many times. The drinks apply as well check the ice whole before u get if there is black stuff around it use the other machines.(not sure if they are gonna clean up before the fall but there is also mold in between the soda machines) Not only the dinning side but be careful with the soda/juice in the deli side the they both are spoiled. And check the expiration date of each snack you do choose to take I had 3 month old jello and I still can’t get that’s fussy taste out my mouth. Either side will not hesitate to sell old milk or old food and bunch it all up to be given out on the weekends. There is a wëëd problem at this school as well so be careful because if anyone in your dorm doesn’t it you maybe be accused of doing it as well by the campus police. Not on to the professors, you need to hold some of their hand and walk them three days the grading process. I had 3 professors(1 was in person and the other 2 was online) last semester wait til the end of the semester to grade everyone from my midterms to out introductions at the beginning. For online teachers make sure you double check their comments after they grade and read up on stuff ahead of time so u can message them early because they don’t respond to message in a timely manner. Navarro College was STELLAR! As a former Bulldog, I'm proud to have called this school my home. Professors are knowledgeable and interesting individuals, the staff are all charming and helpful, and the atmosphere of the entire facility is one of safety and growth. The staff at the Corsicana campus are very rude. Upon inquiring about something the registrar didn’t know about; she went on to yell at me over the counter while the lobby was full of other students. There are only a handful of instructors that are dedicated and willing to see their students succeed. After all we pay to go there and I believe that the students need to treated with a bit of respect. The Cashiers are generally nice and will help you out.Nethmal Perera

This heartfelt review is difficult for me because I actually attended Alvin junior high and Alvin high school off and on throughout my 12 years. I love this town. I was happy to attend this college for that precise reason. However, there were many many obstacles I went through to get my degree here. Frequently, I had to wait my opportunity cost between a poorly taught class, and a class dedicated towards my profession. This should not be happening. Two things caused this. Professors who do not calculate the time required to perform homework and assignments out of class Is one. The second cause were professors who should not be teaching at all. They are either rude, careless Or have some type of issue within their person. Every semester I had a professor like this even after referencing rate my professor. Eventually because of this college hiring so many professors with personal issues it eventually cost me my accumulative science and math GPA to fall under. Consequently, I would not qualify to enter into university science or math department. Every semester on student loans, I worked 10 hours a day for seven days a week for two years. There should have been no reason why my grades were affected. However, how a professor teaches is one of those things that an individual has absolutely no control over. Because of the poor department management and analysis of teaching from professors by administrative, I will no longer be able to pursue the group degree I intended on pursuing. As a compromise, I had to apply for graduation for a general studies associates to leave this college peacefully, and it not destroy my loan approval or potential to graduate in four years. Best degree plans for this college are governments, English, etc. Stay at another community college for science and math because these departments are seriously on organized and not monitored.Shauna Herrera

Keep Alvin Beautiful greeted at the Alvin City Fall cleanup. Texas Pride and others showed up 2 collect all kinds of trash and recycle. Really impressed with everybody that I got to work with as they had a great attitude and even though most were new to the event they jumped in and made things work well. Really proud of everybody who participated and made this a great event and keeping our city sparkling Update: the EMS and police cadet departments pulled together to do a huge exercise for the training of their students. Using the building abandoned building across the street they staged a mass shooter that the police cadets had to take out and then they pulled in the EMS students to help pick up and treat all the wounded. Was a terrific activity and professionally done. Very fun to participate in as a victim. Update: we had the spring Alvin clean up and had the best participation ever. 151 people brought all kinds of trash, metal recycle, electronics, batteries, paper shredding, and green waste to be recycled. Great place to take classes. My son takes classes here in the summer to transfer to his 4 year university. He has enjoyed all of his professors. I like the school because they have a great enrollment process. They've got a waiting area and they call you up by name and clearly post your name on monitors. I only give 4 stars because of their police department. If you pull through a parking space-ticket. They watch every vehicle and the slightest parking lot infraction can bring a quick ticket. They're using it as a money generator. You've got to read their police handout. A lot of rules are in place that aren't posted and a visitor can quickly find themselves ticketed. I took classes after having graduated from a different university years ago. The administration here – specifically, admissions and Student Business Services – is horrible to work with. Rude, don't answer their phones, poor automated phone system, basically take your money and make you live with the poor customer service they provide because once you're enrolled, you don't have a choice, right? Additionally, I took a class from the worst professor I have ever had. His name I unfortunately can't recall. He patronized students who weren't well-versed in calculus and was rude in general. His teaching method consisted entirely of projecting pages of the book on the board and copying the sample problems. I couldn't believe it. He did not answer and student questions and did not seem to care about his students or his own abilities as a professor. I actually stopped attending the course, wasting a thousand dollars, because I couldn't sit through another class. I really like this school! People overall are friendly, and very helpful. I ll miss it here. And living on campus wasn't bad either I had a great dorm experience. Im graduating soon and I feel confident I will find a job through my hard work. Work very hard. Yes it's fun. But don't slip up your freshman year. Your gpa will be hard to get back up even when you make good grades. You got to make great grades. Don't party too hard. Education is something that should be taken seriously! But don't give up. In summary: Overcrowded, nearly over-priced, but with under-funded departments. Not handicapped friendly or even fat person friendly (they haven't upgraded half the lecture halls so if you're not stick thin be prepared to sit uncomfortably in a tight chair surrounded by hundreds of other people). Near non-existent diversity. Do not transfer here, you will receive no assistance. If this is all you can afford and if you manage to find a place to live near enough to campus then this school is OKAY. My daughter will begin her sophomore year at CTX next week and she had an amazing freshman experience last year. She lived on campus, which is very safe, clean and engaging community. The dorms are new and very well maintained. The cafeteria food is very good, but like any student it's not home cooking, but they offer healthy choices and a good variety daily. There are MANY opportunities to get involved and the professors are amazing at CTX! This is a small school but with the benefits of a top notch education. The staff challenges the students to serve in the local community and share their talents while pursuing their education. There are opportunities to go on mission trips and our daughter went to Africa for 10 days. She had an amazing experience. Our daughter missed a few days of classes due to an infection and the professors were very understanding. It's a family at CTX and she was immediately welcomed into the family and well cared for as a new student. As her parents and being many miles away, it was reassuring to know what a great community we left her in last fall. We are CTX's biggest fans and have a number of students attending this year, as well as next year because of her great experience. Visit this campus, stay with a current student overnight and get the full experience. If you are looking for a great education, you will be amazed at the talent they assembled in their staff and the excellent students who attend this wonderful school. I love it here at Concordia! I am currently in a summer class here and will be attending my second year at Concordia in the fall. The campus is beautiful and the professors are understanding and very helpful. I love the smaller class sizes they make me feel like I am actually getting what I'm paying for. Tuition for a private school isn't all that bad. I got into 5 other private colleges and 3 state colleges and this was the best rate. With a scholarship paying school off in full isn't all that difficult. I love it here at Concordia and I'm very proud to be a part of the tornado family. I attended the Dallas/Fort Worth campus of Concordia University for a Masters in Education and overall my experience was horrific. My e-mails were ignored for days to weeks from the administration in both Dallas and Austin on important matters ranging from financial aid to course requirements. The campuses appeared to not be able to communicate with one another on even the most basic of tasks which made it incredibly annoying. It has been a frustrating period with this University. I do not recommend this school for a Masters program and if you dare to brave it make sure you steer clear of their Dallas/Fort Worth campus.Jean M

I love the professors. Temple College is lucky to have professors that have doctorate degrees to teach. As a students, we are lucky to pay a junior college price for access to PhD 's. Those are the professors I choose from when given the opportunity in my degree plan. The business management of the junior college could use some training in customer service and fully understand the job they do. I have learned to always have my military files with me since the files have a tendency to be lost every other semester. I never knew that I earned the President's List or the Vice President's List awards until they announced it at my graduation. Student life is hampered by lack of support from staff and lack of student interest. I hope that this college will continue to grow, take on a supportive/student oriented attitude, and attract the quality professors and staff the college needs to grow. I loved this college. I met a lot of really great people while here, but more importantly I felt the teachers were fair and prepared me to go to University. Also if you are not part of TRIO you should go there. I spent a lot of time there and met really good people like Debbi Owens, Tina Marsh and Cecilia. I would do my homework there and receive help and tutoring. It is a wonderful thing for the College to allow students to access programs like these and I am hoping that more people can create programs like these. I was in their nursing program and I passed all the exams with mid Bs. My clinical instructor made up many violations and forced me to accept them. She further used those violations to give me very low grade (25 out of 91) on my midterm evaluation despite the fact that I was never late for clinical and I handed in all my paperwork on time. It is obviously discrimination. I had to withdraw from the course because you can not fight discrimination with hard-work. I will give it a minus star if I can.Chun-Wei Lin

This school is literally the worst, they take all day in the advising office and registration office. They will have one or two people helping more than 20 people and you would think that would make them have a sense of urgency but they do not. They all act as if they don’t feel like helping you and move so damn slow. I received 2 parking tickets during the time I have attended this school because two hours in a meter is not even enough. The best advisor is Shannon, the rest of them act like they don’t care and will not give you any guidance when your new to college, some will over talk you and not even pay attention or listen to what you are saying to them. This school will literally make you not want to attend college at all with how difficult they make the process. I feel like putting a bad review I’m currently trying to see a councilor here at El Centro I came Thursday before 5pm and they told me it was closed but on the website they close at 5pm. Come to find out today a staff member told me they closed an hour early because they were having a spring break party. Today I’m trying to speak to an advisor I’m the only one here sitting in the lobby still waiting for someone to help me. I used to love this school but honestly service has gone down the drain. I actually attend the other campus, but have had to stop by here for books or to see the proff. So far it seems like a very organized campus. I've come at different times of the day and there's always parking (sometimes further away, but I carry an umbrella for the sun) Once there were mariachi playing outside. The employees are always very helpful & professional and most of the students appear to be engaged in their environment. The bathrooms have always been clean when I've gone. I've taken 3 courses so far and the classes have been very engaging. This is a career change for me so I'm older, but I don't feel out of place.Gracie G

I’m so glad I made the decision to continue my education with ACI. If I could give them more stars I would. I dropped out of high school and waited till turned 18 and got my GED . I started my first semester at dcccd when Covid hit. I was really bummed but still very motivated to continue my education. When I learned I’d be taking summer 2020 completely online I knew there was a chance I might struggle at the beginning but who wouldn’t ? That’s why there’s available help from your instructors. So I took the courses and failed miserably. I lacked the help and support I needed and deserved at DCCCD. I truly believed community college was my only option for a very long time. Until I heard my neighbors success story with ACI. Being family owned and operated was a green flag right of the bat. It’s very important to know you have people on your side who truly care and want to help the best way possible and I’m confident I will have their full support with anything I need throughout my time here. I was in the first cohort for the LVN/LPN program at ACI, and it was so definitely worth it! My experience though, was quite different from many of my peers as I was pregnant through out almost the entire program from beginning to end. Even though I had every odd against me, every one of my instructors did everything they could to ensure my success and I can never thank this administration enough for that. I graduated in October along with my peers, and I just found out that I passed the Texas state board exam, so I am officially an LVN/LPN! This was an amazing experience! I had NEVER had a facial or anything done so I was a little nervous going in. Brianna made me feel SO comfortable! She was so nice and walked me through the whole process so I understood what was going on. I received the RHONDA ALLISON 5 STEP FACIAL. It involves Cleansing, Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peel, Deep Treatment/Massage, & Dermal Layering. I have dry skin so she helped walk me through and understand a good skin care regimen that worked for me and my skin type. All in all i left not only feeling AMAZINGLY relaxed but I knew how to manage my skin. This is something that I would regularly return to do. It was a great experience.Natalie Peters

This was the first time at Avenue Five and I had a facial booked with Kayla! She was AMAZING! She was very detailed and asked a lot of questions about my skin. I loved the massage she provided on my face. I would highly recommend her. As for the set up for Avenue Five, I wasn't familiar with the space so that was a bit of an adjustment since it wasn't a private room for each client, but everyone was gracious and respectful. I am a student in the MOA program and my experience at concorde I would say it has been amazing.The staff are always willing to help the students to help them succeed and answer any questions they have.If anyone ever has a bad day Stacie and Mari are always open to donating some of their time to the students and help them talk about any issues that they need help with in their personal life.The instructors are very aware of their students and make sure that each and everyone is passing their classes.If you need to find a job in order to survive while attending school Ms.Danielle is always open to helping those who need to find one.Since my second MOD I have been a member of the lamplighter program which is a student leadership program where students help one another including their peers in class and help mentor them as well as help them in anything they need.We lamplighters are always at the service of students and staff if there is ever anything they need help with. The dental hygiene program here is absolutely wonderful. Our teachers and program director are amazing. But I am giving two stars because of the issues I’ve had with financial aid. It feels almost impossible to get an appointment with them and everything is so confusing. I understand everyone is short staffed but I have been trying to get ahold of my financial aid person for a month. Not only are they hard to get ahold of but they have said things such as “you need to get a job” if we ask to take a loan out for living expenses. Don’t they think we would get a job if we could? The program is full time there’s absolutely no time to get a job. I’m honestly just hurt that they treat us that way when we spend 73k on this program.Leah Broyles

I took a night class. The instructor always wanted to go home early. so instead of teaching us hands on, he just read over the instructions. When i and several others in my class took the tour, they said we would practice on dummys before we drew blood on each other. They lied. "The equipment doesnt work" is what we were always told. Towards the end of your last mod they crammed both badge tests and extern sites. We weren't notified if we got into our externs until the last day of class. Really nerve recking to the students who had to quit their jobs or try to notify their jobs of the schedule changes. The extern hours change constantly.Heather Gallagher

I’m currently one of the ambassadors for my CMA program and I have met many interesting people while representing my class. I started the class on January 6th of 2022. I currently reside in killeen/Harker Heights, TX., area. I choose to attend the Austin area Cybertex after visiting the reviews online and the school. I learned that the teacher for the Austin location was also the director of the school, this let me know that she had a vested interest in her students success and I was correct. Mrs. Emily is beyond helpful and interested in her “babies “ students learning and understanding each subject matter. I drive and hour and 20 minutes to get to class and haven’t missed a day as of yet because of the encouragement of Mrs. Emily and the subject matters interest me and I don’t want to miss anything. I could have chosen to go to a number of other CMA that were closer to home but I drive here because of Mrs. Emily and her teaching style. If you are looking to get your foot into healthcare or trying to get a leg up on getting into a competitive nursing school program, like I am, this is an awesome place to start and an amazing instructor to learn from. Making the choice to attend CyberTex has been one of the best decisions I have made. From day one, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and ensured that any concerns I had were addressed and I truly felt I was in good hands and not just a number like at other institutions. The instructors are welcoming and knowledgeable. They truly take the time to make new students feel like an asset to the school. Specifically Mrs. Emily, the director and day-time instructor for the CCMA program makes the learning process engaging for students with all levels of medical background. She always goes above and beyond to ensure that the content used in class is relevant and does not shy away from making necessary correlations between the curriculum and real life applications. Her extensive experience and enthusiasm for the field is ever-apparent and makes for a truly refreshing learning experience that every classroom should aim to mimic. The work she assigns is of a level that effectively reinforces the material covered in class but also allows for students to maintain a good amount of time for life outside of school. If you are contemplating on attending CyberTex for the Medical Assistant (MA) Program, just do it! Mrs. Emily Winston, Director of the MA Program and the instructor of the day class. Mr. Bell is the instructor of the night class. These two instructors are not only awesome, but make an awesome team. They compliment each other as teaching partners as they both teach in their own different ways, but yet, have the same purpose….helping and teaching their students. Classes are packed full of the Body Systems and much much more that will get you ready for the CCMA Certification. I am in the day class with Mrs. Winston and the way she teaches for a slow , old timer (like me) is perfect!!! I didn't go to college as school wasn't for me. Although, since being in Mrs. Winston's class, I am at 100% with my grades which is absolutely amazing and all thanks to her and her teaching style. If I can do it, anyone can. Our class is a fun bunch. Add Mr. Bell from the night class into our day mix and man oh man….we are rockin'. Labs are hands on. We practice injections and drawing blood on each other, the real deal. Don't EVER go to get your teeth worked on by the dental students. They butchered my husband's mouth. No antibiotics…nothing for pain! He had two teeth pulled and they cut him open and the stitches were not done correctly at all. The Dr. said to the students…it looks ok. And left. My husband a few days later had to go to the ER because he was getting pain going into his head and chest. He couldn't even swallow! Over $800.00 dollars for ER visit and we had to pay for THREE prescriptions! NEVER GO THERE! THEY DON'T CARE!Susan Winchester

Really had bad experiences. My daughter had fever and stomach pain. I had to wait for my turn for 1 hour. Even I was on time. But there was no room available. I ask the front office lady she said she can't do anything. It was a poor choice I made I will never go there again.marrium saad

The only reason I placed 2 stars is because the dean and the man who enrolled us was great. But other than that,the reviews for this school is spot on. They care only about money. After financial aid,I was told I still needed to pay 221.00 a month or my daughter would be kicked out. The lady who assisted with FA couldn't care less about anyone who goes to this school. And don't have colored hair either,they'll make you change it. When my daughter could not log in to the online course,no one bothered to help or contact us. I had my daughter withdraw. 18,000 dollars and not even a call back. So I'd shop around for a school and make sure its best for you. This one tho,was not it.Katt T

When researching schools and you read “for-profit” as Concordes main description- believe it. I was accepted into the dental hygiene program and was asked to put a down payment of an amount that was almost 5x my rent. I was considered an “independent student.” (no financial help from family) As soon as I communicated the amount was not doable the school redacted my acceptance and gave my spot to someone else… so before you put all your time, money, and effort into this school-don’t. I cannot speak for the program itself and I’ve heard nothing but great things about the instructor… but at the end of the day that doesn’t matter if Concorde is “for-profit” and not for education.Emilee Gestes

Please do not go to this school. The instructors are very disrespectful and do not teach anything. The purpose is to fail you so that you can pay again since you have to retake the whole semester. The first term had a 30 students class and it went down to like 12 of us. This term everyone is failing so far because the term 2 teacher is random and does not go by the book.There are around 5 students in term 5 which is the last term and most of them have repeated at least one term. I am looking into other programs. Stay away, it is easy to get into the program, but you won't learn anything and NCLEX passing rates are low according to the instructors.Kukita Arocha
