Simply put, the 4 years I spent at The College of Saint Rose were the best 4 years of my life. I attended the Accepted Students Day the Spring before I matriculated and fell in love. The campus was beautiful, everyone was friendly and helpful. I left with every question answered and very at ease about where I would be spending the next 4 years. Saint Rose provided me with an opportunity to come out of my shell. I was the typical shy student. I had my group of friends and I stuck to them. I didn't participate in any campus activities, my days consisted of going to class and back to my room. At the beginning of my second year, I knew I wanted to make a change, I wanted to experience all Saint Rose had to offer. I became a mentor, and then a resistant assistant, joined clubs, and volunteered. I did it all. I became a leader on campus all while balancing my school work and employment. The resources are unlimited at Saint Rose, you just have to reach out. Class sizes are small which is perfect for those of us who like to get to know our professors. As a biology major, I found my classes to be challenging but not impossible and learning was fun. When you have professors who are passionate about their field it makes you passionate to learn and that is what you will find when you come to Saint Rose. With the help of one of my professors, I was able to secure a summer research internship at Albany Medical College. My time spent here was very productive. I was able to do things I never envisioned myself doing and really break out of my comfort zone. The College of Saint Rose helped me develop friendships and skills of a lifetime.Kajanna McKenzie

When I transferred to Saint Rose, I knew that this place would become my second home. I can't stress enough how transfer friendly the college is. I had such wonderful help from Transfer Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar and the Communications department throughout the transfer process. They included my mom as well and answered any questions she had. While attending Saint Rose, I had some incredible opportunities that you can only get from Saint Rose. I was elected President for Tau Sigma National Honor Society which allowed me to go to Chicago and San Antonio for their leadership conference. I got to go on several trips including the Hearst Tower in NYC, Yankee Stadium, Bronx Zoo and to local media outlets such as Time Warner Cable News. I also was a staff writer/news editor for The Chronicle, the weekly student newspaper. But most importantly, Saint Rose prepared me for my two internships/part time job during my senior year and current full time job in the news industry. The professors in the Communications department helped me grow not only as a journalist but as a person. They pushed me to think outside the box and ask the tough questions. Without such a wonderful and supportive COMmunity, I wouldn't be where I am today. I feel like one star would be harsh, but three stars would be too nice. My experience with Saint Rose is that it is, like many colleges in this country: overpriced. That is a common complaint with all colleges, but it's more than that. I think the value of the education you get there doesn't really match what you are/will be (if you are taking loans) paying for. I feel the education at Saint Rose is not preparing the younger generation to enter the workforce or the real world. The school boasts great academics and don't get me wrong, some classes have been very objective based and informative. However, some classes made me feel like I was still in high school/the public education system. As in, 1) They aren't that challenging, 2) They don't teach me skills and knowledge that I'll need in the future and 3) It feels like some of the classes had a larger agenda to them (trying to convince students rather than teach). Besides the academics, the campus is nice. Personally, Albany, NY is not my cup of tea but for someone coming from the NYC area (which there's a lot at SR), it might be nicer to be in a much smaller city. Besides that, I think most adults see college campuses kind of deteriorating in terms of the academics and culture. I don't need to go into details about that. I think many adults and people in the workforce understand what I mean though.Idaho Wumbo

I love this school.. The staff is super friendly, all the teachers know who you are and want you to succeed… I graduated the LPN program and I loved all the nursing teachers. They are always there if you have a question and they want you to succeed. The director dr. Millenbach was there for me every time I came into her office with a problem, she immediately stop what she was doing to talk to me and help me however she could. I passed by boards the first just like almost everyone in my class.. They prepared us very well for the boards.. I am also employed less than 2 months after graduation. Mildred Elley is a great school to come learn. The teachers have had outside experiences related to the career choice that you are going to school for whether that be an LPN or cosmo. The school is structured so they offer small classroom environments, hands on teaching and unlimited resources to help you be the best you can be. I started in January and so far have taking all my pre reqs needed I am officially in their LPN program and will finish next March roughly. They do 8 week modules not semesters so you do not get sick of one class for too long. I have met so many amazing students and teachers since January and I'm happy I am finished my college certificate classes here!Tiffany Schmidt

I graduated May 2017 and within a few weeks was hired where I did my internship. In March 2018 I was downsized and no longer had a job. I went there next day to see Danielle in career services. She said she would look at my resume and email me. I haven't heard a single thing from her and it's now almost the beginning of September. I did 3 programs at Mildred Elley; accounting, medical administrative assistant, and clinical medical assistant. At the moment I'm working a temp job as an assembler for minimum wage. Mildred Elley is a place where you can grow both intellectually and academically. Upon enrolling in their Clinical Medical Assisting program I received nothing but kindness from a faculty and staff that are willing to go above and beyond for any hardworking student. I appreciate all that they have done for me there. The staff and faculty are easy to talk to when there is a conflict and willing to help in anyway to resolve the problem. I’ve taken both Phlebotomy and EKG the past couple of months and I definitely feel very comfortable and knowledgeable within the education I received. This is a great school to attend if you have not been in school for a while or you’re going back to build your resume. The instructors are very helpful and never fail to help you understand the material before moving on to the next subject. This school has provided a fast pace and easy way to help me get back on my feet and into the work field. I had a wonderful experience. I started out doing the dialysis technician course which lasted for 6 weeks. At Access they have a payment plan, so you don't have to worry about having all the funds in hand. The teacher, Dr Varsally was excellent. He imparted knowledge in a way that was manageable to all in the class, must also mention that the class ssizes are small. Dr.V. ensured that all understood the lessons taught, he was always punctual to class, ready to do revision every morning on subject matters taught previously. I did the dialysis training at Access Careers and was very impressed by my teacher Dr. Varsally. He is very professional, kind, and humble. My mother was in rehab in June 2019. This place is poorly run and dangerous. There are some incompetent nurses, doctors and aids. My mother is oxygen dependent. Her oxygen was turned off one morning when we arrived. She was incapable of doing this herself. She suffered with a blocked bowel for days and was in excruciating pain. Staff missed it. We had to call 911 to get medical help. My mother fell out of bed and hurt herself even though we said we were concerned this may happen — the staff took no precautions like lowering the bed or a warning mat. Several staff members were just cruel nasty people. On a positive not the physical, speech and occupational therapist were consistently excellent. I believe they were independent contractors. 2021 I am still haunted by the unprofessional staff and cruelty. Stay away from this place.Michelle k.

We were worried our mother would not get good care. Mother had been at Rosewood manor for rehabilitation and the experience there was horrible. After a trip back to the hospital we refused to let her return . We are blessed to have our mom at Teresian House. The staff and the care she is getting is great. They truly care about all of moms needs and wellness. Her single room is large, bright and even has a desk, private bathroom and a 70” TV! The food choices are plentiful and we have even been offered her choice of ice cream for dessert! We were surprised to see the extra large gym with all the specialized rehabilitation equipment , truly first notch! We strongly recommend Teresian House it’s excellent caring staff and the overall facility for your loved one!!!Kathy Weidman

Only reason I gave 1 star because I wanted to comment. They under pay employees. The top nun is miserable and mean for no reason. They have no control nor do they care about covid and it’s affects to their residences. Covid hit there hard 2 times! It’s sad when money comes before faith. Teresian house isn’t Catholic it’s money drawn. I work there not even 3 months. It was a joke. I felt bad for the residence and the food they was subject to eat. All their money is going to that place and for that place to be there finally stop before Heaven, I really felt for the residence and their family members.Glenda Lopez

Dear Mr. Slatky, Doctors, Nurses, CNA's and entire staff at Shaker Place: I cannot tell you how excited I was to finally get the opportunity to visit my mother on 09/22/2020, since COVID interrupted all of our lives, back in March 2020. I appreciated all the professionalism, strict guidelines and precautions you are taking to make sure the residents, staff and visitors stay safe. I was also excited to see the staff, that I missed so much, too! I really could have cried. They have truly become like a second family. My mother has been a resident for almost 3 years, because of her Alzheimer's diagnosis. As awful the disease is, our family is thankful that mom is blessed to be given well needed healthcare, along with kindness and compassion. I am not just talking about the nurses and CNA'S. The social workers, therapists, the admin staff, social activities staff, the maintenance and security staff, the seamstress and food servers have ALL shown their kindness towards my mom and our entire family. Also, any time there is the slightest issue with mom, even a hangnail, I am notified. How great is that? After numerous hospital stays, my dad had been sent to the nursing home a few times for rehab. He was fortunate enough, because the staff went out of their way, to be close to mom so that they could spend some of their meals together, and even one time being roommates! Although mom may not have known him, it gave dad a first hand look at the great care she is given. Unfortunately, he passed away in December, but we know he was also given the best care. So, very long story short, I want to thank everyone for being on the frontlines of this pandemic. You are all giving of yourselves, to help our loved ones stay healthy and safe. We got to the point back in May 2021 of having to arrange nursing home care for our 84 year old mother. I cannot thank the entire staff at Shaker Place for the kindness, care and empathy they shared with my brothers and I during her stay. Mom passed away on Monday October 25th of 2021. Knowing that our Mom was receiving outstanding care even amidst the COVID situation was comforting. The communication from the administrative people, especially Amanda was so appreciated. She was patient with us and explained options and procedures in terms that were easy to understand. Every time one of us visited our mother, the nursing staff at the Wright wing were available and were patient with us as we asked numerous questions. A special thank you to Shannon who provided constant communication throughout Mom's stay and to the rest of the staff at Wright who helped make our Mom as comfortable as she could be. Thanks also to her doctor who arranged the care conference with all of the care givers when we were arranging for Hospice care. The people in that room from Shaker Place could not have been more caring and were extremely patient with my brothers and I answering our numerous questions and concerns. And finally, a special thank you to Mr. Slatky, director of Shaker Place. Your facility is beyond clean, is bright and was the best place for our Mom to be other than at her own home. I will never forget your initially reaching out to me back in May letting me know you had a place for our Mom. Thanks also for your kind expression of sympathy when our Mom passed. Some of the staff are truly welcoming and kind the nursing director Rebecca not pleasant at all in fact rude ignorant and doesn’t know how to communicate, by holding a title she feels very superior to all, she needs a lesson in communication and must know she can’t speak to people how she sees fit, she’s gonna approach someone who well won’t be so kind….. respect is both given and earned disgusting and bitter taste for her!!!!!! You can get plenty of houres but don't expect them to have your back when you are getting pushed around at work. Their on call staff does not stick up for their nurses on the weekends which ends up leaving one nurse with two sets of keys for 3 to 11 which is a near to impossible work load.Jeffery Cundiff

OK – S.U.N.Y. School – Maybe too Politically Correct . You Really Have to know what you are going for ,in order to succeed there . Auto Mechanics/Tech was OK – Rather Intensive Course< NOT for Beginners!!!>. But very Good Instructors , One Harold Gubler was very Cool – Down To Earth . Robert LaPorta was Cool too ,but too Dry for some Students. Nice Rural Scenery there , They Had a good Computer Lab – I wonder if it still exists???Stuart Smith

I am giving this school a 1 star.. The only thing I loved about this whole experience was my instructor Mrs. Trina with the nail tech program.. Albany tech materials needs to be up to par, schools usually be about their students but this one is mainly about the money. I had to talk with someone in the registrar office on why I didn't receive My official graduation email and they had no freaking idea as to why I didn't receive it. My GPA is a 4.0 and I was told by someone in the registrar office on grad fest that I was considered for honor grad and was redirected to go to the business office to pay for a honor sash and I did just that, I picked up my cap and gown and received my sash from MS. Hawkins. Fast forward to the day before graduation a former student who was in my summer classmate asked me why I didn't come to the honor's day program well for 1 didn't receive not one email or call or nothing so I reaches out to the registrar office to speak with ms Hawkins on why I haven't received an email about the honor's day program, so I sent her an email and asked her about it, she responded that only students with degrees or diploma is eligible for honors. So when I responded back to her email she has not responded back to me and when I called to speak with the president no one will return my call. Pictures are included.. You say because I am in a certificate program I am ineligible for honors if that's the case why did you tell me I qualified and sent me to buy this sash I am wearing in my picture that I am including. This is the worst place to continue your education. First, if you believe anything these people say I feel really bad for you. The faculty takes forever to get your business handled. Don't come here if you need Special Services because those only kick in when you are failing as well. The bus is a loud, broke down, no A/C death trap that takes forever and is always having issues with time. You should have a full time job while you go here because you will spend all your money and need loans. The financial aid is screwed up and they blame the government not the fact that they purposefully mess your money up to make more from you taking out loans you will NEVER see when you need money for supplies. The events are so wasteful, throwing away food because no one wants to hang out at school. If you go here take online classes so you don't have to come on campus and deal with people and drama that in 24-7. A bunch or ignorant animals is the way some of these students behave and then the people who want and education have to struggle. They told me that if I can not find a job they would give me a free reeducation, they just make you take out loans and watch you fail because you don't get your loan money when you need your school supplies.M Michele

I strongly feel that the admin staff at this school do not give any regard for their students. When taking an online class, I was randomly withdrawn for the class right before the final, after completing all the coursework and of course paying for the class itself. There was no communication given to me of why this happened, or any apologies. In fact, I was unable to complete the class as I could not write the final if not registered. I understand that mistakes happen but this is completely unacceptable. The mistake could have been remedied by a follow-up on the college's end, and communication should have entailed as soon as the error occurred. The incident has lead me to feel Albany Technical college gives no regard for student's personal success, well-being or degree completion. If the school would like to follow up on this issue, I am happy to discuss ways to amend the situation, although it is little too late at this point. My only advice to new students is to consider a different school that this kind of error would not occur at.Kaitlyn Rourke

Went to the stadium, my son won some tickets. We sat in the last row of bleachers on the home dugout side. The ushers were friendly, we were escorted to our seats upon asking directions to our seating area. Many activities happened in-between innings, t shirts were tossed and lucky members of the crowd got to play games on the field. Big focus on alcohol, many areas to buy your beverages of choice. One food area seemed to close early, pretty normal sight in our travels past COVID-19. Bathrooms were clean, well stocked. Food was good, my son says it's his 4th best burger he has ever had. He bought one before leaving. The reason for the 3 star is the dead mouse under my seat and the red bugs on the cement wall infront if the seats. It's a outdoor venue, I understand, but seeing the ushers collect trash makes me wonder if the stands get swept.Kylee Playz

Wow this place has garbage staff. They specialize in making education difficult or even damn near impossible to register and navigate their trash course listings. I’d expect more from a community college with so much money. They dare call themselves a “pioneer” in online education. Hogwash! Listen, don’t listen to me—check it out for yourself. You’ll be disappointed with their offerings. Then again, they pay their staff dog wages so what should I expect? EDIT: 2 months later… still garbage staff. Unable to fix the simplest of issues. Terrible availability of college associates, and their technology issues are rampant and lacking security. I’d rather just send all my personal info directly to hackers in the PRC. Went to the County Folk Art Festival on a Friday night this time. Not too crowded, and lots of Fall craft items for sale. And a few Christmas craft items too. I saw a couple of things that I kind of liked, but I must have been more hungry than I thought. I bought some very good. Amish snickerdoodle cookies and a couple of nice chocolate sticks. Teachers are absolutely wonderful. I feel they do a wonderful job with curriculum and really give great opportunities to grow. Unfortunately if you stay in dorms…Food is awful! They charge so much but you definitely don't get quality. It became a joke that they offer mystery meat and only when visitors come do they "play up" the experience to impress. Security is worse. As you will come to find the neighborhood is very dangerous and the school encourages the buddy system when leaving campus. Well..On campus I was being harassed by boys and when I went to tell security they treated me like I was lying and offered no protection. I traveled an hour and a half home every Friday after classes because I did not feel to stay the weekend.Salvi

I knew I wanted to attend Russell Sage since I came to see the campus. It's a small campus, but that's why I like it. All the teachers get to know you and that is why they are willing to help. The College has many activities, tutoring, and clubs to join. It's also big on empowering women. There are certaintly downsides to the College, such as some teachers. This has taken me a while but I am finally ready to share my experience in the NP program. Prior to this my experience at SAGE was positive. As a student in the NP program I was spoken about but never spoken to by the department chair. She NEVER offered assistance or suggestions for my potential success instead discussed my potential failure at the door of the classroom with another colleague. Really ladies how unprofessional. I worked extremely hard during my time at Sage, academics were always a challenge. It was not until I was unsuccessful at this juncture that I was diagnosed with dyslexia. So while your professionalism had a very negative impact on my feelings of self-esteem they lead me to a discovery that changed my future. I've been at the same profession for almost 30 years and have had a prosperous and exciting life, mostly due to the phenomenal education I received here. I'm very glad I attended when I did. This school is so unprofessional! i went their for the year 2016 and the teachers and supervisor Agnes Quinn are all disrespectful and insulting to students, except for maybe two teachers; one of the two quit! They are rude! ill mannered! treat students like they in kindergarden! Ask questions and they cower you down and belittle you on top of it. They create a dictatorship environment. The financial aid office people are rude especially a short fat man called phillip! You ask him about why your bill comes up to so much and he will ask if you can't read something smart like that. The supervisor Agnes Quinn is the worst of them all! Any complaint or unfairness of the teachers actions and you go to her to make a complaint she will tell you that, "her teachers are right and whatever they say she believe because they are RN" She literally said that to me! She screams at students as well as at some teachers. Scream like she has a bull horn in her throat, imagine someone screaming at you like a crazy person when you calmly ask a question. Smh, Every student that went their couldn't wait to leave and put this horrible experience behind them. If I could rate the school based on the admissions CLERK Joanne they would receive a negative 5. This woman was rude, abrupt and a poor representation of this school. Majority of the questions I asked her, she could on reply with sir it's on our website. Each time she was asked a question it was either it's too early to tell. I explained that I was coming from out of state and before I could get out that I was driving to my next job. She said it's on our website, when I asked her name I had no choice but to let her know I was a ma'am not a sir. If Joanne asked my name as most admissions reps do. She would have known that. She was annoyed that I called at 3:35 and her reply for being abrupt was. We close at 4:30 look it up on the website. I work in healthcare and this person is a poor example of this school. First impression is everything and she ruined it. I was so ANNOYED I called her the B word! I'm not a low class person, however, her behavior was low class. What you give out you receive. This is the first review I have ever written. I was accepted into the program but decided to not attend after paying $1000. The refund is %50 which I was aware of. It has now been 3 months of me calling the business/financial aid office. I haven’t received my check but patty sent it out apparently. She proceeded to hang up on me today when I called to check on it. I called back and Kathy answered. She said I now have to pay for the stop payment bc it’s my fault. She continued to belittle me and say how it can’t possiby be anyone else’s fault then mine that I didn’t receive my mail. They are all so rude and unprofessional. I wouldn’t recommend it at all. There are high school students in the same building which means classes often gets interrupted with overhead announcements for the high school. There’s hall passes, sign in and out forms. It is a time based program so you are clocking in and out of school so be aware of that. So far the best part is clinicals but our labs were a mess. Sometimes lab instructors were not present. Strict on phones can’t even use them to study they want them in envelopes.Nay Souverrain

After being told I would recieve college credits when the time came to apply them to the college of my choice they did not accept them. After calling many times I was put on the phone with a woman named Diane. She did not listen to what I was saying nor did she care. I was cut off and hung up on. They are extremely unprofessional.
