Both my wife and I were returning college students and Stark State Alumni class of 2012. We both received a great education. She went for respiratory therapy and I went for Graphic Design. The graphic design program was wonderful. The professors were all very knowledgeable and really cared about their students (huge shout outs to Michelle Lash and Eugene Starr). The classes are small and it's very easy to schedule time with the professors if you need help or need to go over some things. It's also nice to have online classes if that's your thing. For the younger students (and older alike), Stark State also hooks you up with SALT at no charge after graduation, which is a useful tool to help find employement after graduation. Luckily I furthered my career without having to use SALT. The biggest recommendation I could suggest would be to offer more of certain classes. Sometimes only one class is offered a semester and can conflict with working hours. Thank you, Stark State and to all of my professors for giving me a great education and giving me a fighting chance in the workforce after graduation. For those who are seeking four year degrees and beyond, Stark State is definitely a great (and affordable) place to start.stephen slusny

I attended Stark State College a number of years ago when it was Stark Technical College. I am surprised by the negative reviews, because I had a great experience at the school. I graduate with a degree in Computer Technology, and the courses were challenging and taught me a lot. I still remember some of the great instructors like Mrs. McBride in my math classes. I even worked there part-time for about a year doing LAN Administration. They have provided me with a foundation for a very successful career in IT. I later completed my Bachelor degree at Kent State. I am currently completing my MBA. I was able to get a copy of my transcripts, even after graduating 25 years ago, by faxing in a request. I did this for two different Universities, and they arrived within a week. In this age there should be a way to do it electronically like Kent State, but at least they do not charge you for them. Overall I had an excellent experience and they prepared me for a very rewarding career in Computer Technology. I absolutely have no regrets about this school, and I enjoyed my time there.Kevin Frazier

I can not believe Stark State has less than 4 stars! This is my second semester and I LOVE it! The faculty are truly amazing and extremely helpful! This college also offers small class room sizes which makes learning more personal. Your teachers and professors always do their best to know each student by name. It is also extremely great for working folks who have busy work loads. They have many courses that can virtually work with any type of schedule. There are many success programs that Stark State offers, including assistance with any subject as well as a great Accommodations program for those with any learning disability/disability from minor to severe. Stark State also always keeps their students in the know through text message and emails. They give you the tools you need in order to succeed. Highly recommend this college!elisabeth brian

I have had an amazing experience with Herzing University! I am excelling in my degree choice and I couldn't be more satisfied with my learning experience and the flexibility that the online program gives me.The instructors are all willing to help whenever I have a question, and if they see many students struggling with something, they will post an announcement with some helpful tips on how to proceed through our courses. The learning material is easy to understand, the discussion boards really help me connect with my classmates more than I normally would, the library is full of everything you might need for your studies, and the Coach rooms and Tutoring center are very helpful! I have seen many posts off and on about how students struggled in this school. I have to say the most common thing I see students struggling from in these courses is not doing the assigned work on time, not participating in the discussions, and not following the assigned directions on assignments. We have to take responsibility and do our work (on time!) or we will not succeed, and we should not blame someone else for our lack of trying. Just with everything else in life, if you do not put any effort into something, you will not gain anything from it. I stared with Herzing back in 2013 for my undergrad BSN RN. At that time, school was still establishing itself, therefore, I had some rough time getting through the program, but overall my experience was good. This year I came back for my MSN FNP and let me tell you ))) My experience with Herzing in 2019 is absolutely amazing. This school grew so much! Veteran Review: I attended COTC and graduated with an Associates in Nursing. I can say that it was very cumbersome to attend COTC as a veteran. I utilized my Tuition assistance and needed to "push them along" the entire way. Every semester I had to contact veterans affairs and tell them what I needed them to do to approve TA. My understanding is that they needed prompted in every way and every time I needed something completed to allow me access to my tuition assistance. This includes having to pay for a semester out of pocket do to their delay in assistance and lack of ability to complete my necessary needs on their own. From my understanding, they should understand this. I am currently attempting to apply for my bachelors 2 semesters later and I am unable to receive tuition assistance, because COTC has not submitted my graduated status to TA and I am unable to attend classes as a consequence to said incident. All said and done: If you are a veteran, be prepared to coax COTC along to get what you need.SSG Ben Moran RN

I had a very close immediate relative die during summer semester. When my immediate relative had a stroke, I did not notify my professors on the matter. Sorry, my thoughts are not on telling my online professors about my relative bleeding in the brain. My time was spent in the hospital, hospice, and at work. I missed a few assignments but notified my professors at my earliest convenience. The work was completed. Professor Sample for PSY-210-NA failed me on multiple assignments, accused me of plagiarizing from a blog, and is the reason I will not be graduating this semester from COTC. The plagiarizing accusation is because I had "similar sentences of a blog post." What a joke. Never take a class as Professor Sample as your professor. Do yourself a favor and just go to a different school. I will NOT be going back there. President Coe and other faculty members at COTC I contacted did not help in any matter. Of course, they took the side of Professor Sample.Adam A

I… HATE… COTC! Its the nightmare that will never end. My husband leaves for the military in one week… His recruiter needs his college transcript, so that he can get a higher ranking, more pay and one of the jobs he wants. All he needs is the transcript. We went in on the 22nd and paid extra to have the transcript sent. They told us they would send it out that day or the next. Well today we saw his recruiter and he STILL hasn't received the transcript. We went into COTC and had to talk to them AGAIN about this. Oh did I forget to mention that when my husband first started seeing his recruiter, he paid extra to have his transcript and then they handed it to my husband, therefore making it unacceptable to the Air Force. This is not even close to the first problem either of us has had with them. Oh, maybe you all should check out there 'graduation rate.' Less than 20 percent of people even graduate! This college as a whole has been amazing. My instructors and the rest of the staff and faculty really care about your education. If I ever have any problems and I go to someone they either know the answer I am looking for or they will find someone who does. If I have any suggestions on how to make things better or easier for students they are always ready and willing to listen what I have to say and make improvements that will better students experiences. Amazing school. I graduated and walked already after my two years. Every teacher was supportive and there for me. You can just walk in to talk to an advisor (unless during semester start/end). Then it's by appointment. That is so much better than other schools. Osu only has very picky walk in times. MTC teachers put books in the library or I borrowed their copies so I spent nothing. They are friendly and the school is very pretty. Only a couple teachers were annoying, but every place has 1 or 2. I loved my time there.Molly m (YYH)

Do NOT go through this nursing program. Just take the few extra prerequisites that the other programs require and go somewhere else. This is the most unorganized program I've ever seen. They will reschedule clinicals and classes with absolutely no notice. They also give you lists of books to buy and change the required books the beginning of class. All they say when they mess up and change things around is "what do you want me to do, it's nursing school, you have to be flexible" it's nothing but frustration.Aletha Perry

I put $114 down for Housing a couple months ago but decided I wasn't gonna be going to this college so I asked if I could get a refund and at the beginning of March they said it would be refunded to me by the 16th of March and it was never refunded I have contacted Housing and they have told me to contact Cashiers Office about it and when I call the Cashiers Office they say I need to talk to Housing I'm getting annoyed with these games they are playing then I called them about a week ago and they said they would have to write their boss to handle it and they would call back within 24 hours they NEVER called back and I still haven't received my refund I'm glad I decided not to go here I'll be attending a nice university I got accepted into instead the price is outrageous anyways for being the college this is and also has a lot of bad reviews I've never left a bad review before but this really irritated me that money could have helped me outMackenzie

I have had a very positive experience with Hocking College my first year. I love the program I am in and am having lots of fun learning the material and connecting with students and my professors. I will say the environment is rough around the edges and difficult at times to stay focused and stay positive, which is why I am living off campus so i can come home to much more uplifting environment. Like with every profession and career you find good and bad employees. With that said I have experienced questionable behavior that was not above approach from faculty at times, but my overall experience with the housing, registration, and financial department has been positive and I have felt supported. I love Hocking College! It is my first year here. I have attended a 4 year school prior to this one. I must say, the classrooms here are much smaller. The instructors are nicer, and the workload is much easier. I feel at home here and I'm looking forward to obtaining my degree. The learning has a "hands on" feel. The buildings are close together so you never have far to go. The campus is beautiful and the buildings are kept clean. Even the bathrooms are nice! I reccomend Hocking College to anyone who feels overwhelmed attending a 4 year school. Also, Hocking has a great transfer module program, where you can transfer to a 4 year college after obtaining your associates degree. I'm glad to be here.Valerie Dixon

Horrible school. I attended the school for about 2 years and have a better experience at the DMV. I was told in high school by a Cincinnati State that my credits would transfer from Cincinnati State to University of Cincinnati seamlessly – they did not. In fact when I went to UC, they stated they could accept me as a transfer student but none, zero, NADA – of my credits would transfer. I applied to Miami University (Ohio) and was able to have 3 classes transferred. Miami was also cheaper at the time than Cincinnati State. I had to start all over from scratch after 2 useless years at Cincinnati State. The staff at Cincinnati State, including the teachers, were low quality. Staff seemed to brush off any concerns you have. Asking for help? Only the minimum is provided to guide you in the direction you need. Teachers mostly seemed to be low quality and bottom of the barrel – I only had 2 teachers that were okay out of 2 years. A few teachers I was able to show issues with tests or exams – although they agreed that I was correct at the time, one refused to fix the exam grades for everyone because "That is what the test key answer is and she would have to go back and regrade all the tests"… Sorry? That is literately your job… The next teacher could not understand the wording of their own test question that they provided (online) and would not correct the answer for the students. I communicated this error via email and was pushed away. I pushed back stating the teacher was incorrect and provided the work as to why the answer was wrong, in a professional tone. The teacher responded unprofessionally by changing the color of the text in the email to red, downplaying my proof, not using punctuation, and using unprofessional language. I dropped the class as this is not a teacher in my eye; but someone who is there for a paycheck. Cincinnati State had a graduation rate of just over 12% when I attended. 12% of students graduate from this school…. For the 2019 year it is now 17.9%. The odds of you attending this school for 2-3 years and graduating are very low. You are better off attending a real college if you are serious about your future. The overall poor quality as well. I have never experienced so many arguments between teachers and students in a classroom before. After class is over, everyone leaves campus immediately unless they have another class within the next hour or so. The current ad campaign that is on TV does not portray the school correctly. The average age of students is middle age. There is very few labs due to limited budget. Little to no student engagement events. Printers were not free. Book store was a COMPLETE ripoff, some classes did not require the book due to costs. Teachers would not communicate to students about schedule changes in tests and exams effectively for online classes (I missed my final Physics exam due to this). Save 2 years of your life and go somewhere else. I am not the only one with a really bad experience. If you know someone that attended or attends Cincinnati State, talk to them. You will typically find they did not graduate or they think it is okay but plan to transfer to another school before they finish. My experience at Cincinnati State was something of a mixed bag. I had previously attended a 4-year university but was seeking a career change. Given the low cost of attendance that community colleges provide, I figured that Cincinnati State would be a great option. My first year of studies were great. I had some very kind professors who genuinely cared about the students and the material that they taught. Some faculty members could be a bit rude at times, but that is to be expected in higher education. After my first year, I truly felt like I was on the way to great success. My second year on the other hand turned out to be quite the opposite. During my first semester back from co-op, I received notification that I had been dropped from two classes without explanation. Upon reaching out to the registrar, I was told to contact my program chair/advisor. Upon reaching out to my advisor, I was not given any guidance. I felt like I was really left to my own devices to try to figure out how to schedule my classes. In addition, I found the teaching quality to be quite disappointing. In the one class that I was able to take that semester, my professor did not once hand out a syllabus or explain the grading rubric. I persistently asked him when grades would be given back, and he would give me a specific date. Only once did he ever give back grades on said date. The rest were given at the end of the semester, thus leaving all students in a state of anxiety over what our final grade would be. He stressed the importance of attendance and punctuality but was hardly ever on time for class. On some occasions, he even made me late to work because class would run over. For these reasons as well as the problems mentioned earlier about the administration, I decided not to return to Cincinnati State. In short, Cincinnati State is a good option for those seeking a low-cost education, and there are some great programs and professors here. However, the unorganized and highly bureaucratic administration combined with some exceptionally unprofessional professors keep the school from being as great as it could be. Please tread lightly if considering Cincinnati State now or in the future.Nick Workman

My review was removed probably by google because I mentioned that I don’t appreciate how their curriculum is trying to indoctrinate you. It’s other wise a good school. I got my degree in two years and had no problems. The instructors for my program were great. But it’s absurd in my opinion that a college feels the need to assert their opinions in to every core class. My English class was consistently wanting us to watch TED talks that talked about political standpoints. My sociology professor was the absolute worst. Even if you did an assignment and followed the rubric, but disagreed with her opinion, she would give you a lower score. Then try to justify it by using her own opinion as sources. She also said that anyone who believes in God is likely uneducated. Overall, my experience was good and I’m glad I got my degree here. But it’s just too liberal for my taste.Britt Jones

The registered nursing program is a joke. Very disappointed I wasted my time and money going there. It’s pretty bad when the students know more than the “professors”. The people running the program were unprofessional and lazy to say the least. Paid for a certain amount of credit hours and they only had class half of the times we were scheduled. Lessons were taught per self by reading hundreds of pages per night because the professors were unsure what they were teaching. During class time professors had crying babies and barking dogs along with many more distractions. Spoke higher up and the dean was absolutely useless, wouldn’t take any responsibility for the low class education. The program does not equip students to become skilled nurses. I would never go back to this school. I was very disappointed in the teachers in medical program but also try to reach out to the dean and she was not very understanding and rude. So many of the students in our class try to reach out to the teachers about not understanding the material they were teaching so we had to self teach ourselves .It seems like all the school wanted was money and not care at all about the students education. It's pretty bad when you have more than 12 plus students complaining and them not wanting to do anything. This place is mostly money hungry ,and it's very disappointing . Worst College Ever. Tried taking summer classes here and it was unbelievable the amount of trouble I went through. No organization what so ever. My advisor scheduled me the wrong classes for the summer so I tried setting up an interview with her twice to have her change what classes I need to take and she was a no show both times. Then I finally got the right classes registered a week before the semester starts. Then they tell me that I was suppose to pay for the classes the week before that even though they didn’t have the right classes. Honestly, should have listened to everyone discrediting this school. Cheaper ain't better. This school has stressed me out and I've only been attending for one semester. They keep changing my aid amount, will not reimburse my refund and all together have made my college experience a nightmare in hell especially with me working full-time. It always something new going on with my financial information for the following semester and new requirements that were completed prior to me attending resurfacing. Who has the time to keep re-ensuring that they're getting the money they already previously accepted? It doesn't matter how early you send your FAFSA in, they will find a way to have it reprocessed so late that you won't recieve the amount you already accepted. Very poor experience, people don't care about the disabled students, they had charged me over $1k for not helping me get into my classes and they've abandoned me in 2010. One star for absolute failure. Edit: 9/14/2022 this so-called trio program from Owens community college isn't helpful not resourceful of how am I supposed to go to college, they sign me up late not knowing I'm missing out on my assignments and these advisors in the school are lazy and rude like they don't care for the disabled students such as myself. Attended Owens and completed an Associates degree in 2001. Returned to a local area 4 year college to complete a Bachelor of Science. Due to the high cost and mediocre experience. I chose to take as many transfer classes as possible at Owens. A full time semester was a fraction of a 4 year college semester. Pretty rigorous course material and most importantly, courses are well structured, you could actually work ahead following the syllabus. Students and staff are pleasant. Have my 4 year degree, and returning to Owens for certificate programs to fill in the gaps from said 4 year college curriculum.Brent A.

This college has frequent issues with their website when turning in or doing assignments. Return books to bookstore that you rent, and they "misplace" some, and charge YOU for it. No one fixes it…. Hard to get in touch with everyone. No way to work on a time frame with this college with issues with websites, and no way to get in contact with ANYONE you need to regarding logging in, assignments, registering, financial aid etc. etc. Last time i signed up everything took so long classes had already started for a whole week while i was still trying to get set up for each class. The FIRST day i was on the class page to try to catch up the teacher gave me a 0 on my first several assignments… EVEN THOUGH… I stayed up late the day I registered and got my books and tried to work toward catching up… I want to go back to college, but I don't think this is the one to be in…Amanda Arnett

The bookstore is horrible. The employees, not the student employees, were terribly rude. They did not give me all the textbooks I ordered online and it took 3 people and yelling for them to finally understand that they did not give me the access code. I even brought back the receipt and my actual order confirmation. They lied and argued with me about my order being fulfilled and held for me. Removed with no explanation other than receiving more loan money than they were supposed to give, an error on the University's part, not to mention if your opinion differs of that from other students and they become hostile the HR will do nothing for you as a student, class times are not flexible and they have put a hold on my transfer credits without explanation. First off, the campus itself is in poor condition. The sidwalks are cracked, and the stairs are worn and a tripping hazard. If you are physically disabled, be warned, there is hardly no disabled access aroud campus. The elevators are used by those who are athletic and can walk perfectly fine, but crowd out those in wheelchairs…. I wanted to leave after the first semester because my grandmother was dying and they said it wasn't a good enough reason for me to leave and not finish the year and made me pay for a semester I didn't take. Unless the problems are resolved, I will be leaving my review at what it is. I started at Terra in January 2019 and currently still enrolled. At this time, I just want to finish and graduate. When I first met with Terra, my advisor was rather "pushy" which I'v dealt with before, no big deal. The thing that stood out though was that she had to tie her success's into every little thing, and not in a good way. She bragged more than she used the information to make me feel better about trusting her. Her tone, to me, implied that she knew more than I and I just need to do as she says. Something I couldn't quite understand though is how none of my credits from Stautzenberger College could transfer. There's quite a few classes I had to re-take because of it. How does nothing transfer from such a highly accredited school like Stautzenberger? Upon showing my schedule to my husband, who had also had scheduling problems at a different college prior, he pointed out some flaws. How was I being scheduled for classes that I hadn't taken the "pre-reqs" for yet? I was also being scheduled for classes during times that they weren't even available. I had also been told that I was looking to graduate Spring of 2020, possibly summer depending on internship and when I decided to do it but because there were classes that I couldn't take when I was scheduled for them, I actually wouldn't have graduated until Spring 2021. Then later finding out that there was a class I NEEDED to complete before even doing my internship, something I wasn't told about either until now. I reached out to this advisor and didn't receive an e-mail back until weeks later, after I sat down and completed my schedule MYSELF. I have half a dozen other students in 1 out of the 6 classes I'm taking that have had similar or exact problems with the same advisor. Flash forward to financial aid. My paperwork was sitting in the "finished" pile while it was actually incomplete. This wasn't realized until I went to the financial aid office in person to find out why nothing was being posted so I could get my bill paid and schedule summer classes. They had been sitting there for weeks. Okay, frustrating but mistakes happen. However, the other morning, I woke up to an email from FAFSA that corrections have been made……on my schools behalf. I logged into my portal and see that the Pell Grants that have been listed for weeks now and that I was TOLD I was going to get (by the same gentleman who left my paperwork sitting unfinished for weeks) for summer and fall are no longer there and everything turned to un-subsidized loans. I reached out yet again (side note: getting quick responses from financial aid OR admissions when you have a problem is extremely difficult), to which I finally did get an e-mail back. In a real short sentence, he apologized, said he had made adjustments that was actually an error on his part, and went back in to adjust it, I should see my grants back up in a few days. Another email this morning, changes again, back into my portal, absolutely nothing has changed. 2019/2020 FAFSA was done, completed and filed, why go back in and make any changes period. Plus, where is the communication? I would love to understand what is going on with MY financial aid and MY classes but nobody seems to want to help and explain anything. I could very well not be entitled to any Pell Grant, but that needs to be communicated with me and told why it's changed even after I had already received them in an award letter. I am beyond tired of this run around. The stress and extra effort are completely unacceptable. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars vs 1 is the fact that unlike my last college, I feel MOST of these professors actually care about my education and me as a human. Update: after a couple weeks of back and forth, the Pell Grants finally posted. However, an issue I was having with my online classes can't really be traced to anything specific. I was actually booted from one of three classes then had to be re-added, and almost booted from another but nobody seems to know why.Heather Myers

Poor…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….They make it very difficult if you are a busy adult (no online or phone registration/deregistration for 1st time students). The tuition is low, but the headaches you will get from the college (applying, registering, high book fees, travel to the middle of no where) make it not worth the price. I have a 4 year Bachelor's Degree and work 40 hours a week in a professional job. I'm also working towards a 2nd Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems by taking evening/online/summer classes. I filled out a application, paid a application fee, and had it in 5 weeks before the start of classes. I was never sent a acceptance letter, phone call, or any information on registering for classes. I was never given a password to apply online. I called the Registration Office several times, but was met with a answering machine. My phone calls would be returned a day or more after I left them. They would leave voicemail messages while I was working. Eventually they told me I would have to get registered in person since I was a first time student. All first time students can only register in person even if you are only taking evening classes part time. I applied to Owens, North Central State, Marion Technical, and Terra for different computer information systems classes. North Central State and Marion Technical are way cheaper and you will be able to talk to a person over the phone. Owens College has the same quality classes for the same price with less hassles.Matthew Clark

I'll give one example of many of why this school is the worst decision you can make in your educational career, today I called for my transcripts and the manager there who name was mark was so idiotic that he didn't even know how to log on to check my transcripts, when he couldn't figure it out he claimed that the school actually can't check the transcript (lol) and that I had to go to a government agency called "student records clearing office" to get the record, all sucking on a lollipop. The sad part was I knew this was going to happen right before I called lol….. Most of these reviews are fake 5 star ones, so I will give an honest review. The staff of this school are uneducated and have no idea how to function in their positions, they are also extremely lazy and disorganized to the point where it is like something out of a movie, they are actually infamous for this and everyone who calls in tells the manager the same thing. The office may also charge you extra and create mistakes for you, I actually personally experienced and had to call to get the fee removed ( I actually educated their financial aid manager on how to actually calculate fees, he apologized and admitted his mistake and then never removed the fee).A Sayed

I ordered one of my books from here using a gift card and a debit card, and it was an absolute mess. I placed this order on 8/22/2018. The staff had placed a call to me that went to my voicemail saying that they needed my code from the back of my card. I did not see that message until yesterday. I called in yesterday during business hours, and no one answered. I call in today only learn that my order had been cancelled without my permission and/or knowledge. There was no follow up call after that initial call, no call to let me know my order had been cancelled. Now I have to reorder my book and pay for express shipping so that I can do my work. #1 Rule And BIGGEST mistake as a black person was going to a school where BLACKS ain't graduated in 3+ years from the rn bridge program. That right there was a major RED flag for me. Second they let this girl re- test but wouldn't let me in extenuating circumstances from me going to jail from my home over a seat belt violation and insurance hours before a test. Out of 30 extra credit points they gave every students on the tests I was only good for 4 smh but everyone got the questions wrong. I won't be coming back there I don't like that type of stuff they work with everybody else but won't work with me. They alter tests for certain people to pass. I need a more diverse and fair school to go to because That school ain't it it's fixed for certain people to pass and graduate. Black African Americans Please steer Clear Away from this school!!. I enrolled in the Adult Cosmetology two year program here and from the start my experience was mediocre. During my time there I had teachers come and go, I had 3 teachers through out the program. The first 'instructor' for the first year was more interested in being your friend then a teacher. Talked poorly about other students when they were not around and was more interested in getting her own hair colored the majority of the time instead of teaching. She favorited students and had a lack of caring. Our second instructor was there for a couple months and I had sadly learned more from her in those few months then I had with my first instructor. Our third instructor was the best by far, if only we had had her from the beginning. Now the school itself is shady. A few students and myself were prepared to graduate in July until the head of the Adult Education program came to us and said we had to be done with the program by June, 4 weeks prior. If we did not finish that was on us. I would not recommend this school to ANYONE. Find a better school that will provide you with the best education possible and is worth your money.Marissa Walczak

I was in the cosmetology program graduate in 2019 and I’ve been recommending Polaris to everyone! Best schooling I’ve ever done. my instructor ms.hasan was the best teacher I’ve ever had,she really cared about her students and making sure everyone got everything and made sure you brought the best out of you. She a very caring and loving person and I would not be the stylist/person I am if it wasn’t for her. Every program here is amazing and sets you up for success. BEST experience EVER!!!! Polaris has the BEST staff from the certification programs instructors to the aspire an office staff. These people really care about you an they will go to the moon to help you. I wish they had more programs cause i will go back. I will advise you if your looking for career or career change an your interested in one of Polaris programs GO FOR IT!!!! You will not regret it!!! I went to OVCT for the MA program. My experience at OVCT was very positive. My number one concern when going to school is knowing that if anything happens they will have my back and during all the situations I went through when attending school they were there to help me out and accommodate my classes so it would be easier for me to finish them without having to drop out school. The staff and instructors are very nice and they help everyone in any way they can. They are kind and friendly and your success is there number one priority. I would drive 1 hr to school and 1 hr back home but it was worth it because I wouldn't find a school with such amazing people near my town. With a person like me with social anxiety and having English as a second language completing a program like Medical Assisting is really a success but I also know that I wouldn't be able to finish the program without the help I received from OVCT.Dejanira Cosme

The nursing program admission process is very easy and Donna will help you to understand the process and all of the requirements to get into the program. Becca will help you to get all of the financial aid requirements completed to get your education funded. All of the nursing instructors are great! They spend alot of time helping the students and assuring that we fully understand the many different topics covered throughout the program. The evening and weekends class/clinical schedule is prefect for people like me who work!Richard Bailey

Ohio Valley College of Technology is a great place to learn. Everyone of the Instructors are always willing to help. I have encountered a few instructors that have gone over an above to help myself as well as other fellow students to succeed. I appreciate all that they do and am very greatful for them. Hello everyone, I have recently been excepted into the 175th class that begins April 2019. I wanted to give a little insight on my experience so far. I surfed the internet for reviews and comments about CSPN, to my surprise I didn't find many if any useful reviews, which I would say is a good thing. Most people only review there bad experiences, so I would like to give my honest review on my experience thus far. First I searched around for different LPN programs, there's only a handful out there. Then I reviewed CSPN website and gathered all the information that was provided and came up with a couple of questions to call and ask the school about. I spoke with Amy who is the admissions coordinator. She was so polite and helpful, and she remembered my name and addressed me as such the whole time I interacted with her. After making sure I met the requirements for enrollment which was outlined on there website in great detail, I located all the information that I would need to process my application. Then I reviewed the information on the entrance exam, I set aside roughly a month to study because I was a little hesitant on what would truly be on the exam. i did call and spoke with Amy again to ask a couple of questions about the entrance exam and she was very helpful with my questions and made sure I understood everything. I can say CSPN did provide a great deal of information to prepare for the exam. I scheduled my entrance exam from there website and paid online as well. This process was very easy. I received a text message reminding me of my exam as well. On exam day I was very excited and eager to take the exam. The exam was provided in paper format which I was so happy about. I'm not a computer exam type of person. To my shock and surprise the exam was exactly what CSPN said it would be, don't over think the information provided, don't distrust what was stated that would be on the exam. The exam is exactly the information stated by CSPN to study. After everyone was done completing the exam your scores was provided to you the same day, so no waiting at all. The next step is to attend an information session, which will go over all your financial aid information and give you time to ask any questions. After submitting my application and providing all the information requested, within a week or so I received my acceptance letter. I was over the moon. So far I have had a wonderful experience with CSPN admissions process and I look forward to every aspect and encounter being exactly the same. I will post another review after my new student orientation. I hope this review was helpful to anyone thinking of attending CSPN.FS Connell

One of the worst schools I ever went too. They were very downgrading. They would alway remind us to look around the class room because l lot of us weren't going to make it to the end of the program, every chance that they could get! Im talking about second week in to the program ! The Executive Director Michelle Altshuler was very prejudice towards us the African-American students. She would say things like " Were not on the streets anymore, we’re in a class room ". Let me remind you this is a private school and they hand pick each student individually. Again I’m talking about the second or third week into the program all the African-American students got escorted out of the school by the executive director Michelle Altshuler and a police officer but the caucasian student were just asked to leave for the day (nicely) they didn’t get escorted out. They were also allowed to stay in the class room to study while us the black students were scream at the get out the class room and find somewhere else to study. This happened before we got escorted out . All Because a caucasian students felt that she getting bullied, and don't get my wrong I’m a grown adult I don’t promote bulling. Ive witness what bullying can do to the person every day on social media, but in this scenario that was not the case. This student was an attention seeker and just wanted to be seen. Every day after that we the students face a new Challenge every day when we walked through those classroom doors. The way they talked to us was just crazy ! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL TO ANYONE. They treated us horribly and we didn't even attend the program a whole month before all this started. I m convinced that they take down all the bad reviews because I have yet to see a bad review, but had people come up to me and say that is was a bad school after expressing the situation to them.keeping up with chanel

I am almost done with the first level, and i honestly have to say out of all the schools I’ve dealt with previously, this one is by far the best. If you are the type of person who genuinely is passionate to become a nurse, then you will absolutely benefit from this facility and the ladies who i have had the pleasure of calling my instructors thus far. There are some minor things that im sure many people would not like, but like i said if you are in this for the right reasons then you know it is done with good purpose and preparation in mind to send out nurses that will continue to do right by their reputation. They have a very big holistic/health based foundation to their classes and methods which i love, and communication is open, they go out of their way to make sure everyone succeeds and understands the material. If you come into this with the intention on putting studying on the back burner, or doing the bare minimum then expect to struggle, it is a 12 month course and alot of material. As long as you prioritize accordingly (especially with home life, children, etc) you will be successful. You have to invest in yourself and education the way you are into the school upon enrollment. This time will fly by, and as long as you treat your education as the ground works to your future, and the standards of the future care of your patients, then not only will you enjoy the school, you’ll enjoy learning which will make it even easier to comprehend and get through it. My daughter went to preschool here… Great program each preschooler was assigned a Student teacher and all was covered by a main teacher. They learn through play. Made home made ice cream… went on field trips made their very own pizza. Made snacks and cleaned up the mess. Too much to List. Honestly, I should've stayed at my home school. A lot of the faculty think they're high and mighty because they work in a technical school, nonetheless, they are no help when there are issues amidst. And some of the academic teachers pull rules out of nowhere that are no way in the handbook and they definitely pick and choose students. Want to come here? This is a great school in my opinion, I take automotive technology and it's a great course. I've learned a lot in the classroom that now helps me at my work in a dealership as a lube tech. I have been a student at Herzing since September of 2018 and I have watched that school go down hill. They can not keep consistent nursing instructors and have to make changes to student schedules 2 days before classes start. When they know most of their student population are parents with the majority of us being single parents that work and go to school. But they have made it abundantly clear that they do no support students unless they have money to pay out of pocket. I have watched faculty that has been there since I started grow more and more stressed with the “behind the scenes” politics that go on inside the school. I have watched instructors walk out the door and not look back. Herzing advertises that they are family oriented and all of that but it’s all a joke. They hired the nursing chair to add “ diversity” among the faculty. They have students file complaints on instructors because some of the instructors and other faculty is the rudest people I have ever met. They claim to be a nonprofit organization but have increased cost of tuition twice in just under two years. Oh and don’t have nothing go wrong in your personal life when you fail a class because they don’t care. You can have plan after plan but it won’t be enough for them to let you finish your program when you only have one semester left. This school has been the biggest waste of money and time of my life. I use to enjoy going to school in the mornings I loved the things that I got to learn on a daily basis.. but as their instructors left so did my pride in the school. They do not follow any of the standards that they hold their students to. They don’t educate you if you make a mistake they reprimand you and fail you. They will show you over and over again that you success means nothing to them.. they just want the paycheck.Misty Romigh

Recommended for real people that have real lives and real responsibilities. I attended the online program for my bachelors and masters degrees in nursing, though there is a stand alone campus here in Akron. I was able to attend both programs full time and I will consider returning when it's time for any post-masters certificates. The admissions department was easy to work with and did not use tactics that made me feel pressured or rushed with deciding to enroll and then re-enroll for my advanced degree. The professors were as helpful as they could be and did everything they could do to prepare me to pass my certification exam (which I did on the first attempt!). The resources that we were provided surprised me because they were so accessible and effective. Lastly, the very important behind the scenes staff-accounts, student services and advisors, library, and tech support were amazing. They always addressed my concerns within a timely fashion and what was not known, they sought out an answer and closed the loop for me. My student services advisor (Meaghan G.) continued to answer questions in this same manner even after I completed the program. Thank you to all of the staff. A challenging journey could have been worse without all of your support and efforts!H M Q

Save your money and time!!!!! Students don’t mean anything to them besides a hefty paycheck. They will side on the faculties side every time. The nursing chair is the biggest joke of all the faculty and is the most unprofessional person I have encountered at the school. Some professors care and want you to learn the material, while others play favoritism among students. Don’t worry about signing the syllabus, addendum, nursing handbook, or the P.R.I.C.E. to success paper because the school doesn’t support the policies if its against a faculty member. They can’t keep professors and the student turn over rate is beyond high. Finally if you want to take general education in a classroom setting, not going to happen here because they let go of their general education professors and it’s done all online. So be prepared to pay a ton of money to teach yourself.Danielle Crow
