The teachers to me are awesome and willing to work with you if you have questions don't be afraid to ask because they will get you an answer. Ms. Lamb is one of the best. So let me rant. The school has issues a few which they addressed immediately so that was a plus. But omg supplies we never have any how are we supposed to be successful in phlebotomy and don't have anything to practice with. They want you to have so many sticks but no equipment to do so. If they get the structure of the school together and also get the right amount of supplies to accommodate students it will be a little better. Also they need to have a week where you can have volunteers come to get blood drawn because the other students don't want to participate. ( They will eventually need people to volunteer for them as well.)Ronnesha Jones

I would have to say this is one of the most unprofessional unorganized schools ever! Teachers came and went when I was there. Only a handful truly care! Jade has been a God send in all of this mess, but I would recommend if you can go to another program please do it! Graduation was supposed to be in August and then postponed until October and now October is here and can take a photo or anything in caps and gowns, proper preparation would have avoid this, but the school is just like well your working and have a diploma so oh well! I Had an awesome experience at eastern I completed both programs dental assistant and medical assistant… But I didn't know that's eastern wasn't CODA accredited.. BC my mother passed away and I was unable to reinstate my dental assistant license bc I was out of town for a month I wasn't thinking straight at that time…. Let me start by saying that if you are thinking about getting certified in any of the multiple programs this school has to offer, don't think about it twice and do it! The staff is amazing people who are always there to help you as much as possible with any concerns you might have, I have thought about getting certified for a long time but I never did due to some not pleasant experiences with other organizations in the past but as soon as I stepped into ACHC they made me feel like home, The instructors do an amazing job! I had Kristy as my instructor and I must say that I'm beyond grateful for all the insight and help she provided me during my time at ACHC, having this MLT certification has been a great achievement in my career, and with no doubt, I'm coming back to this school for more! I’m so glad I found ACHC . I was so reluctant because of my age but when I tell you it was the absolute best decision I have made . The staff is highly knowledgeable of the material and do a great job at preparing students for exams. I felt extremely comfortable working with everyone there and they made sure everyone felt safe and acknowledged throughout the entire process. I would HIGHLY recommend this school to anyone, and if I ever needed a class that they happen to offer I would be more than happy to return for further education. I am so glad I made the decision to attend AECC. The enrollment process was very straightforward and I was able to start the program quickly. I feel like I got exactly what I needed out of the classes to be able to pass the state exam. Good luck trying to get information over the phone. Agree with the earlier comment and I've been going here for over 2 years part-time. You will HAVE to go to the school to get any information, ever. You can call every single person on the faculty list for Admissions and Records and will get voicemail 100% of the time on any given day. You will be told wrong information from some advisors so I've been really careful to get second opinions. I was told I needed X amount of credits to graduate by one advisor only to find out that in my last semester I actually needed 7 classes. Had to take all 7 in one semester if I wanted to graduate as planned. I did it but it was hell. Certain professors are not to blame for the lack of admin support. I've had some great professors and good classes but the infrastructure is severely lacking and unfortunately, that is the first impression many get of college. If you are not prepared to take on every little issue by yourself, pick another school.Chelsea Thompson

i only gave 3 for some reasons, first, make sure you do keep communicating staffs here since no one told me about my college transcript ( had to order another one from different college) 2nd, there were no communication at all to let me know whats going on when i found out that there were some conflict according to my email they sent. The process to get in may be a hassle but if you do not give up and fight to get things done then it will be worth it. Make sure your college transcript says your last enrollment if transferred like me. If you are taking classes at another college then there will be conflict here. Just heads upKayla Kolton

Do your basics here. Quick, cheap, and easy. Then transfer over to your 4 year college which will more than likely be UALR. NEVER let your guidance counselor "guide" you. In other words, do NOT allow them to make your schedule without double checking it. 99% of the time you will be put in classes that you don't even need which means it will take you longer to graduate. Don't be a dummy. Get a print out of the classes that you need for your degree and just start putting them on your schedule. Don't waste electives by taking some class you don't need. Take a class that counts towards your degree as an elective.Patryk

I was originally a student at a private school in Texas. One of the best in the world. So when we had to move here for a family illness, I was highly guarded about what I would find in quality at a public school…especially in Arkansas. Although I had three advisors screw up my plan three times in a row, I finally got the assistant dean as my advisor. She was wonderful and I am a graduate of the College of Arts, Letters and Sciences. I have to say I was highly impressed at the level of education and support that I received at UALR. Additional to a quality education, I was impressed with administration and the people's willingness to help me when I needed it and to call me back when they said they would. Teachers are mostly helpful. I was an online student so availability in a teacher is key. Sure there was one or two that weren't the best at it but I fortunately am tech enough to get myself through what I needed. I did not witness and racism, homophobia or bigotry on campus between students and teachers. However it seems to me that a lot of angry people in the reviews feel differently. I personally did not witness it. Additionally, my wife is an adjunct professor here and I know for a fact she cares immensely and passionately about ALL of her students and a lot of students are looking for excuses to not do the work but to get credit for nothing. It's not a food line, it's college. You want a good grade? You have to do the work and you have to do it well. You are adults. Act like it. A lot of people I met were just adult high schoolers in their maturity level. THAT is not UALR's fault.Sid

If you have the patience to deal with lack of communication and knowledge of the most basic things like me than apply if you do not avoid this school like the Black Plague! Seriously! I am in process applying for the nursing program transferring from out of state University. Mr. Jon Vickers never answer the phone or give you a call back, I literally call this man 10 times in the past two weeks and no answer or phone call back! He is suppose to be head of nursing department but he never answer any calls. Front desk people could never answer the most basic questions like “ when are the nursing application going to be available” they always transfer me and no one every seems to be available. Only good experience I had is talking to Belinda White. This school needs a lot of work with communication and keep their staff up to date on basic information.Elexus T

The university has gone straight up in the past 10 years. They have established one of the top 3(possibly the very top) engineering and have partnered with a great medical school(UAMS). The money they have been given helped to secure talented professors and great staff. Past that though, they have started to recruit high end students and provide scholarship money for all. For example, I received a full ride plus some spending money as a result of my "high performance" (read as standardized test scores). Be aware that, like most other state colleges, most awards are based off of test scores and having above a 3.5 in high school. Overall, the school has a bit of a bad rap around Arkansas because of what it was over 50 years ago, but it has become a competitor for the best in state college and is definitely still headed up.Red Rabbit

As a recent graduate of the RN program, I can confidently say, no one should ever attend this school. They will take as much money as they can from you, and half of the instructor written questions make zero sense. If you want to attend a program where administrators will help you out if they know your family, this is the one for you. If you want a program where the Dean of Nursing looks like the great value version of Paula Dean, clearly is taking too many benzos, and your words go in one ear and out the other, this is the program for you. Save yourself time and go to UALR or JRMC, or really any other Nursing program. Don't forget to check this school's NCLEX pass rates and accreditation status, before you apply. If I could give negative stars I would. Even though I have graduated from this school. I would not recommend anyone to attend. If your records do not get lost by its employees then the instructors will attempt to degrade you intellectually. Too many individuals at this school spend their time focused on the wrong things. Just happy I made it out. They have a lot of work to do, just ask the students especially those of RN and PN programs. I have been told the other programs they offer are pretty decent.Tira Broadway

Delicious and visually artful 3-course luncheon was thoroughly enjoyed while service staff were attentive and efficient. The food is prepared by "chefs in training" but definitely performing at advanced level. White table cloths and spacious seating between tables provided for quiet, serene atmosphere and pleasant conversation. Base cost of the meal is only $15+ tip but a suggestion is made for patrons to consider extra generosity as proceeds for funding the culinary program.3 M

The program director Ms. Jackson has a very nasty attitude. I am a parent that went in to get her to fill out the competency phlebotomy test form and she wasn't there (as usual). When i called right before i went to work to pick up the signed form i asked was the formed completed and she said "its here". So i asked again was the form completed (because it has to be filled out before i can submit it to pay for the test online) and she says again "its here". When i get there (she had an attitude i could see it in her face and this was my first time even talking to her) i ask her for the form and another basic question. She instantly got mad and stormed out the room telling me that i had the bad attitude (i saw where that was going), so i continue to tell her what i came to tell her and i left. She bs these young adults because they don't know better. She tells the students that she dont give her telephone number to students but they can have her supposedly assistants number (no good communication skills at all). Now how are we going to communicate about anything test, dates, etc (if the students don't have your number). She also takes the states/federal funds and show up for work late or she don't show up at all. Tell you that she payed for the test and pocket the money. Then you are left paying for the test. I wouldn't waste my time or money if i were you. 1/24/2020 A week later this director change the test date again from the 29th of january to the 31st of january for my child to take the test. Then i called up there and see what date she changed it to and now all of a sudden she says that she can't talk to me about the date (which she did a week ago and i told her that). Now she has to talk to my child and she hung up in my face. Then i called back and ask for the corporate office number and she repeats her new number to me (as if she corporate with her same number). I then told her that I'll get it and hung up. So i had my child call 3 way with me on the phone to get the changed date and time and she over heard me say that i was gone record this conversation and she hung up again. So like i said before this b**** is something else. Now y'all see minutes after my review she post like she's the victim (down below). You wouldn't talk to me then so why respond now. Ijs! Ms. Petty 😄. BEWARE! DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL…. And yes Ms. Director she is still a teen (19yrs old) legally (i posted that above but i see that you didn't pay any attention to that) she can't buy alcohol or cigarettes so she's still my child or can you no relate because you don't have kids. I see misery loves company. You BIG mad or LITTLE mad 😂 1/28/2020 So my daughter called me again today saying that she got a e-mail from this director saying that she needs to register (some more bs). The test is now in her hands where she has to put her on a roster and it still didnt get done because apparently she's mad at me. When i try to call her to ask why my daughters test got cancelled again (recorded by the NCCT) she hung up on me again. Now im about to put these white folks in her life. Imma e-mail the folks that payed her for the class and the people that approve her to be anybody's teacher. Which is Department of Arkansas Higher Leaning & office of long term care. But next wensday she'll be taking the test with the people in LITTLE Rock NCCT gave us that information. Because she tryna make my child miss this test because she's mad at me. With dragging her alone with these cancelled test so that she want be able to take the test period. Because i called her out on her bs.Tomekia Williams

If I could rate below 1 star I would. I have waited weeks to post this so that I wouldn't write this in a place of anger. Because of First Step Technical College my ENTIRE class has to relearn everything we learned last semester to earn a REAL certificate after Mrs. Jackson abruptly ended her contract (from what we were told) with our high school. Apparently we were not even instructed the "state-approved way." There were documents we weren't even shown, state-mandated videos we never watched… Everything we had worked for has gone down the drain. I was looking forward to jumpstarting my career. My entire class feels absolutely SCAMMED and betrayed. I am both heartbroken and furious. When our school requested our files, which could've helped validate last semester's work, she refused to provide them. What is your explanation for this Mrs. Jackson?Sayla Ingram

I honestly do not understand the negative reviews. Ms. Jackson was beyond respectful during my CNA course! The small class size made it easy for me to understand the material and get the time to practice the skills I needed. I was able to pass my certification test on the first try with no issues! I had a great grasp of the materials and am confident going into my first job! Additionally, all of the tests and materials that are provided for the course are beyond what I expected.
