Just graduated with two associates degrees! I loved my experience here! I would and will recommend to anyone! Great teachers, great cafeteria, lovely campus(no smoking too), great daycare; my son went out there for 2 1/2 years! Now I'm a transfer student to a university of my dreams! Wish I had the time to participate in a lot more extracurricular activities but that just wasn't in the cards. Thank you SIC for giving me and my little boy so many opportunities! P.S. This was our daughters first year at college and furst time living far away from home, and all the advisors and mentors made a smooth transition. If there was anything that I don't like is dealing with student services, they talk to you as if you are suppose to already understand their process. Amazing 2 years here. The school has all the resources you need for success, you just need to apply yourself and not slack off. It's a close-knit school. I met my entire friend group here and we all remained friends through Hazleton times, State College, and even now. My friends from Hazleton came to my wedding and I still talk to them and see them. I had the good fortune to visit here with an academic adviser to promote the RPTM major and Shaver's Creek Environmental Center. I went to Delaware County Community College part time for four years after high school. It's one of the best decisions I ever made. I really didn't know what I wanted to do right out of high school and I didn't want to go to a super expensive university and still not be sure. I started out with general studies. I just finished my Liberal Arts associate's degree there this past spring. I enjoyed my time at this school. I got to take a lot of different classes to really figure out what I like and what I dislike, and it's way more affordable to do that here. The campus is beautiful, especially the STEM center. There's lots of helpful services and the professors I had were great. I'm now transfering to another school to study graphic design and I feel like DCCC helped me get on the right track. The cost isn't horrible and the classes are similar to classes offered by four year universities. The problems I have lie with the administration (financial aid, career center, cashier office.) They do not know how to deal with students in a timely, concise manner. I was unable to get in and complete a single course for the last two years due to administrative problems, even though I had been with them previously. I went here from fresh out of high school from 2016-2019 and graduated there with my associates. Such a Beautiful campus and I had a very great experience at DCCC, I’ve had some pretty good professors during my time there although some did seem to only be there for a check. During my time here I was also in the KEYS program and they have such wonderful staff very helpful and friendly. This was the last school in the world I wanted to attend, but having 3 school aged kids and a limited available schedule, I found that it was my only option. Upon enrolling I realized just how nice the school is. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable and are always willing to help in any way they can. The education isn't mediocre either. I've met people that have transferred to a 4 yr. college from RACC and they told me some classes from RACC were more demanding and difficult that the ones they took in the 4 yr. college. Lastly, the cost of education at this school is very cheap, especially if you take in to consideration the quality level of education you receive while in attendance. If you're looking for a school to do minimal work just to receive a degree, this isn't the school for you (They expect you to work for your grades). However, if you're looking for a good school, with knowledgeable teachers and staff, a quality education that stands up to the rest, and tuition that doesn't cost a fortune; this school is exactly what you've been looking for! I went to RACC for my associates and ALL the staff became a family for me. I love this place from day one. They were all very supportive and respectful. I happened to work at the security department under the work study program and I had the best supervisor anyone could ask for. Carmen Medina was a mother yo me. She was very supportive and empowering. Stacy was like a sister to me. Always keeping me smiling and always encouraging me. My coworkers were always supportive and patient with me. They trained me well and I was with them even after I graduated. I am so grateful for my RACC family. From financial aid staff, admission office, work study program coordinator Kim livingood, the student lab on Berks hall. To Maria at the front desk. Librarians, I love my GED teacher Maria Perez. RACC Is affordable and their curriculum is very well designed to prepare you for the bachelors. Danelle Bower is a great instructor and Dr Blakely. They prepare students to think outside the box. This school really sucks. It is for students who have no choice but to go to that school. Almost half the campus is on some kind of academic probation. The staff is not really helpful like they say they are. Only a small percentage of professors and staff really care about the students. The school tends to make decisions with the students money and spend it, without the current students knowledge. Parking is horrible at this campus and security is very minimal. So If you are looking for a safe, secure, educational environment where people actually respect you and care about your education. This is not the place for you. As the mom of a college student who had to leave a private, out of state institution for medical reasons, I came into contact with BCCC when my son was ready to obtain further credits. The administration was so very helpful, from applying for appropriate courses, to registering and payment. My son has not yet graduated, but the experience at the local community college was excellent. BCCC also has programs in which high school students with special skills or talents can participate in college level work. Both the high school and BCCC were extremely helpful in this regard. High school credits were obtained with no tuition payment. Finally, I am a sunset photographer. The high hill on the campus overlooking the baseball field just off Swamp Road is a very nice vista for sunset shots!!Carol Geibe

First off the price is great. The campus is really nice. I liked the professor's a ton. There were some really good teachers. When I transferred out most of my credits went to Penn state without an issue. I see a few reviews on here talking about bad teachers. This is not a BCCC problem, it's a college problem. I had just as many bad teachers if not worse teachers at Penn State as I did at BCCC. Expect it, accept it, and work harder in those classes. It's only 16 weeks folks. If you are looking to see if college is for you or just starting back up with your education I think it's a great place to start.Mike Carson

The campus itself is clean and the security is friendly. As for the professors I had in my two year stint here, many of them were awesome people and very helpful as teachers. I feel I have learned a lot from having knowledgeable teachers such as Professor Beers in the math department and Professor Bresnen in the music department. All in all, for the most part the staff here seems to care about their students' success and I have had many more pleasurable teachers here than I expected.Dan

Are you a working individual looking to earn a degree? Don’t go to Harrisburg Community College. This college uses Technology that is not easy to learn and I am good with Computers. Want to speak with a Advisor, well my advisor lives in South Carolina so I can only conduct a meeting via Zoom, the college is taking ALL personal interactions away. And working individuals…well i hope your not trying to spend any time with family and friends because I leave my 40 hour week job and I do school work for 5-8 hours a night and on my weekends. Forget about spending anytime with my wife and three children….I am taking 3 classes. Don’t ask the teachers a question, they just refer you to the syllabus…well clearly I am asking you a question because I didn’t understand it. I am military, yesterday I had duty and i didn’t get my project submitted, I logged in tonight to submit the project and the instructor removed the instructions, and locked the drop box so I couldn’t submit the assignment. I could keep going but I don’t have time…if your a working individual, don’t fall for the things they tell you.William Bricker

If I could give this institution a lower than one star rating, I would. For a community college, the course costs, books, and fees seem to be immense. I had professors who took half or more of the class periods to talk about themselves, personal topics and politics. I’ve also had professors assign English paper topics about personal things and I imagine he laughed at the student’s papers later in his free time. The required intro to college class professor had us playing with popsicle sticks and jars of rocks and sand. The certifying official for the VA office submitted my paperwork incorrectly. I dropped my classes and incurred debt because of how poorly the education at HACC is. They seem to be all about the money and not the education or students. I can’t even request a transcript for my new school because of “debts” to HACC. I no longer live in Pennsylvania and I am now attending a MUCH better school, and I am very glad. I would never recommend this school to anyone. This is not a good school, don’t waste your money and time.SMK3181

Most professors are nice but my overall experience was bad. I went here to try to accomplish a 2 year degree but every time course selection came around they didn’t have the classes I needed so I got stuck taking hardly any credits each semester. The majority of advanced classes are online only. They offer almost zero advanced courses in a classroom. So happy I made the decision to transfer. Not to mention how every time I scheduled a meeting with an advisor it either got cancelled without notice or they changed me to a new advisor who could not give me a single piece of useful advice.Kate

This college has made a terrible impression. They got me admitted as a transfer student, and I have been preparing for the Fall session online, but to appear in person, and I just found out I missed the registration deadlines because student advising never got back to me. I took the new student orientation and the professor, just skimmed through all the info. There wasn't time for questions, and she cut it short by 30 minutes. It didn't even explain how to register online. I had been in communication and prepared for this session but didn't understand how to register so all the classes I had 'added to my schedule' weren't actually registered, and no one followed up with my questions. I thought I was registered, and even as I try to register now after the fact, it still says I need student advising which no one ever got back to be except for an email to say I already had everything set up. I am torn about this. Now I have to wait another session to get started?! NO! I will take my education somewhere where I can actually get assistance. This is such an emotional drag.Gabrielle Flores

I’ve been doing Penn Foster online schooling for almost a whole year now. I’ve found this online experience a great one. They are very helpful in all ways possible. I’ve called a few time and their stuff is helpful and kind. They help so much with the questions you ask and reassurance you need. You go at your own past, fast, or as slow as you want. I’ve struggled so much in the past with schools , I’ve been to over 6+ schools and I started at the point have an IEP/ taking classes for it. Penn Foster online High School, has helped me understand so much and I love how I can learn at my own past. The price is also reasonable. I can stay up till 3AM and do my work. I’ve finished a class in a whole week at times. I’d stay really hard. Not only that Penn Foster always keeps you up to date on thing that are happening with your account. I am the mother of two students at Penn Foster who just graduated. They are 15 and 17 years of age. They were placed in Penn Foster due to being bullied by teachers at their local school. My oldest enrolled with 0 credits in Oct of 2019 and my youngest enrolled with 7 credits in June of 2020. My oldest graduated Dec 07, 2020 and my youngest graduated Dec 23. 2020. They loved that they could go as slow or as fast as the wanted. They loved not having a schedule or having to have any interactions with teachers. Their overall experience was great. I have one more student, my 16 year old step-daughter working on it now. She's 41% done. We also have a 14 year old who will be enrolling once done with 8th grade. Im really glad I found this school to pursue my ultrasound career. The teachers and staff were amazing, our ultrasound teachers were there for us 100% of the time. Mary Beth stayed after class and tutored me almost everyday for a few hours. The faculty at this school truly care about their students and the education they are receiving, they go above and beyond to help us achieve our goals. I would highly recommend this program to anyone looking to go to school for ultrasound. They have a variety of machines to learn on as well as phantoms. Great Lakes offers a wide variety of programs to get you started in the medical field. I toured the facility with the intent on becoming a nurse, but after seeing everything Great Lakes offered I am now working towards my associates in surgical technology. Only my third month here studying the Medical Assistant program and I can genuinely say I love this school. What makes this specific Lincoln Tech amazing is the staff, never a gloomy day. I've had three different instructors and they are great, super personable and humorous, it really completes the learning experience. Coming from a 2 year gap of not being in school, I was afraid of how I would transition but they made it very smooth and fun. My time at Lincoln Technical Institute has been great. The teachers form close relationships with the students and personally help every student strive to be better. The small classroom setting and accelerated course can help you form close relationships with fellow students who will support you along the way as well. I attended Penn Commercial for the esthetics program. I absolutely loved every minute of the program! The teachers are awesome and caring and do everything they can to make your experience wonderful! The entire staff has been so helpful and caring, they have gone above and beyond to help me get into school and even worked with me on the financial end so that I could get into this program and complete it as well! I love that it is so hands on and they allow you to get the real life experience of the work you will perform once you graduate. I appreciate the staff so much for all the help and support they have offered to me to allow me to become successful. Nursing program is @$$. The teachers talk horribly about students that ask for help. They allowed a student to say in the class after she was accused of laying her hands on patients at clinical. They use ATI to say their “passing rate” is good when in reality the students only know things from ATI, not the teachers. The DON is a quack. She will lose your important documents and force you to pay for new ones. She clearly shouldn’t be operating in the position she’s in. Please I didn’t listen to the people that told me not to attend her but anyone looking into this school… do not go here.Lola Flowers

Penn Commercial has an amazing Faculty & staff that genuinely cares! My Fiancé needed help with a back end Financial Aid process that is very rare and involved changes to be made to her Pell eligibility. The change is from a closed school discharge. Her FA Counselor Ryan Bazant was very engaged and helpful throughout the entire process taking ownership in every aspect! Thanks to his efforts she was able to get results that afforded her the ability to have less loan usage. To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation – his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick and Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existencial catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools… how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Rick and Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. HACC was the best choice I made when coming to school. In my first year I became a student worker, received awards, and was feeling confident about my schooling. Security makes the campus super safe and friendly. HACC has so much networking and has allowed me to receive an entry level position in my professional field. I am currently working part time as an actual HACC employee now after being a student worker for almost 2 years. There is room for growth in both education and employment. The HACC faculty/staff family is what keeps me going. Everyone in the Welcome Center is warm and caring. Financial aid is quick and efficient with everything they do. The advisors personally walk to other departments to find answers for their student's questions. The admissions are so helpful for new incoming students and current students. I can honestly only see I have only ever had one negative experience with processors and I've been here for 3 years. Even the Footnotes Cafe and Subway employees are warm and welcoming to all the students. It is definitely a place to be and a place to grow. I have recommended and assisted several friends with getting into school. And I will continue to recommend students to start here before paying more at the local 4 year schools in the general area!Brianna Carroll-Lugo

This is possibly the worst financial aid department I have ever worked with. The student "workers" have no knowledge on financial aid or their policies. I have never been so displeased with a department so much and to have to deal with them in order to go back for more education makes me reconsider my decision. My last encounter the student argued with me as I told him I was looking at my account as we were speaking. The conversation ended so poorly I dropped my classes and decided I will take my education elsewhere. For a community college I should not have expected any better I suppose. While he told me I should just go back to Millersville that is exactly what I will do. I would highly recommend pursuing your education elsewhere if you have the opportunity.Tasha Billett

HACC is a great school. It helps prepare you for future education. It is great for learners at all stages and ages. It is refreshing to have a place with Academia that has focus on the community and students. So many University and other colleges have their head stuck up their own academic snobbery. You are treated here like a human being. If you want a small college that makes you feel like a person, been out of school and want to come back, or want a career change this place is for you. Community! I have friends who live here. I have seen over and over the sense of community between residents enjoying coffee together at the coffee shop, getting on some of the extended Vans to go on field trips, or just passing them on the walkways. I can think of at least two conversations over the last few years where residents told me their only regret is that they didn't move on campus sooner! Authentically caring, approachable people…. from the higher ups to nursing to housekeeping and maintenance. The facility is so beautiful and clean and I really thought I would enjoy working there, but if you are a person of color forget it! I worked in the home care department and clients would say they didnt want me to come back to them just because I am black. Management will not stand up for you! I tried to get a different position within the company and was turned down despite my hard work and 10 years experience working in the nursing field. I am perplexed by several negative reviews I see on this site. My in-laws experienced all three levels of care – cottage, apartment & nursing care at Messiah Lifeways, while my own parents resided at another retirement facility in York. When comparing the two organization and the quality and empathy of care; there is simply no comparison. My in-laws at Messiah Lifeways received far more superior care than my parents did at their facility. In my mind, Messiah Lifeways sets a high standard for elder care and support.Randy Ness

I attended from 2018-2020 to get a couple of associates degrees after a career change. I think this is the best school I have been to so far. I have taken courses at multiple university's and I will say the curriculum and the standard that the professors hold the students here is on par or exceeds what the other schools/university's offered me. Going through both the University route and the community college route, I would recommend any student, unless you obtain a full ride of course, to go through community college because of a few reasons. 1. Cost, if you get your generals done at a CC you can do the rest of your focused studies at a university and you will have saved a lot of money and may have possibly qualified for additional scholarships and grants to continue your education that you might not have before. 2. Readiness. If you are not sure you are ready for University studies a great place to test it out is a CC. It is a great barometer and often just as challenging as University courses. If you can do LCCC then you can do University and most would say it the other way around. 3. The professor's. Professors at CCs are often more in touch with their students and I believe they foster a great environment in which to ask questions and get individual help. I had some great professors at LCCC and some I still keep in contact with. Don't get me wrong, you can find good personable professors at a University, but just not as readily. That being said LCCC provided me all of these things and I would recommend anybody going to a CC and particularly LCCC. It is a great growing school with a lot of programs to study. The campus is in a nice location in Schnecksville and has plenty areas to study and learn. Oh and the bookstore is wack like I have seen from other reviewers, but it didn't drop the rating by a star for me.Trevor Lanning

My girlfriend is currently in the CDL program and paid $5,430~ to be three weeks into a four week course and has not yet been on the road yet. Last I check it was a DRIVING school not spend the entire time backing up trailers school. They were told that the second week they would be in the trucks driving yet the head instructor or whatever he is says they "aren't ready". Now they are on the last week. Monday, an instructor will be out and so no one will get road time that day. They expect all 8 people at the Luzerne location to be fully competent in their ability to drive an 18 wheeler inside of three days. To put it into perspective they have 2 trucks and 8 students and 8 hours a day. Each student MIGHT get 6 hours of driving. Total waste of money. You can get your CDL for a third of that price with more knowledge by reading the CDL book from PennDOT yourself, having a friend with their CDL take you out in their truck or a rental from Ryder and then after enough practice go take the test. Either they need to step up the education or it's simply not worth it. Hell, Prime would've been a better option but they only have automatics and that results in an automatic restriction.Turbo Lag

I am a student at Lehigh carbon community college. * The financial aid staff are very helpful they will help you get all the loans student financial aid you can think of and a few you haven't thought of. * The business office very professional. * When it comes to the professors I give them a c average. The English literature class be wary. The best way I can describe it is think like Rodney Dangerfield and back to school. Where you can get your information concerning a article book or other writing from the professor's own biography and you will be wrong. The English literature department does not allow creativity of any kind. * Their legal and business and nursing courses are some of the best You can ever find. The campus is very clean very organized and the administrative staff is super helpful. My three-star rating is based solely upon the professors If you're not going to go into the legal field or nursing field take your genetic courses at Lehigh carbon and then transfer.Bobby A

The advisors are horrible and staff is horrible, left my daughter in the dark most of the time, genEd classes for 3 years and amounted to absolutely nothing , 60,000 DOLLARS LATER AND NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT, kids whether they are 18 or in their 20s still need guidance and help, they need to up their help and not the price constantly, the reason why my daughter transferred was because they didn't give her any hope, pretty much made her think that if she did not pass her teas test the second time around her Career as a nurse would go down the drain. So her hope of being a nurse went out the window. Now she is very hopeful that Greater Technical of Altoona would give her the opportunity she always wanted.Lola Scavone

It’s a beautiful campus, large and spacious! I love the staff and faculty here. They are welcoming and respectful (most are anyway). They are well-organized for a small school. Overall, pretty impressive. Some constructive feedback I may have would be considering changing attitudes of the financial aid staff towards students. It doesn’t cost much to be nice to students. That said, not everyone is bad per say. Just that most people I encountered in the financial office are pretty bad with their customers service skills.Chung E. Lip, MPH, CHES, RN

An absolutely beautiful campus that promotes a learning atmosphere unlike many of the larger schools. Has a caring staff who will do anything they can to help you succeed both in and out of the classroom. Couldn’t have found a better fit for learning over the past 4 years! Let me just start out that the whole college isn't bad, just the staff that are meant to help students. Since August of 2019 I have been trying to get help in the classroom because of a learning disorder that's been documented by a doctor and all paperwork submitted correctly. I have received no aid whatsoever. They don't care about the students that need aid. I'm failing my classes because I haven't received any of the aid that I was told I could get, because the person in charge of this (HER NAME IS DEBRA FOR THOSE IN THE BACK) NEVER BOTHERED WITH MY CASE.jocelyn covert

Graduated 2010 with excerise science. Returned today to start two year degree for plumbing,heating, HVAC. The campus is super clean with covid measures in place. If your looking for a great place after highschool or to return and further your education then look no further then LCCC.Kevin Karwaski

I think this school could be more challenging and offer more opportunities, however, I am employed in my field (Information Technology), In a job position that requires a 4 year degree. I learned things here about computers that I could not have imagined, and now I am successful. It would be nice to have a Penn State degree but this does just as well because once you get in the door, it all comes down to experience and how hard you work.john fields

I attended this school which was the worst decision of my life. Due to the fact it's a private school they are allowed to do whatever they want and it won't have anything to do with the state. I want to put together a lawsuit against them for all the money they take from their students. I was in this school for two semesters, when I was in college, and I learned and had a nice GPA. It's a small school, and some teachers are really nice to you. The owner would greet students with Milano biscuits when I was there. But it has a problem it's very small, there is a security problem sometimes. It is not a school to make friends. And it won't look good on your resume if you graduate from here.Mukkaram Rana
