As a student of West Valley-Mission College District, I was able to attend this college for one class which was listed on the same transcript at Mission College. It is a nice campus and more of a suburban feel to it. The instructor was nice and helpful. If it was closer to my home, I would have gone to this campus for more classes.Bill Fong

They try to keep you here longer than necessary and do not give you the correct information to transfer. The science teachers are often terrible and actively try to fail students. It has become so bad that students are trying to get them fired. I have yet to meet someone who has met a counselor and not been given misinformation.Thea Queen

My Business Administration Management class was amazing, I learned so much and I am carrying it with everywhere I go. Some people do not like it and so do. My instructor was so brilliant and I am so proud and thankful for him. With his support and all of SJVC workers, instructors, and all around everyone, I was able to get threw this pandemic we are still having and graduate with a 4.0 and being on the deans list. Great school for a community college. I heard it’s the best around. Many students come from San Diego or from the North just to go here. They do a lot of things by hand (compared to other schools that do things electronically). The grounds are well kept. The parking is horrible during the beginning of the semester. More parking will be available as time comes. When you register for a class, you need to pay the same day or you get dropped. If you’ve dropped a lot of classes, the school might give you a hold because the classes are impacted. There is a daycare center. Parking permits and books are relatively cheaper than most.Aurora A

Good School. The campus is breath taking. Views of the ocean in the dining hall and surrounding areas. Tons of plants and trees all around, a great variety. Staff are helpful. Parking is a struggle, unless you don't mind parking in dirt lots but then it's not worth buying a parking permit. As for professors and academia, they could improve. Check professors ratings onlines some teach to only one or two learning styles. The classes are pretty easy. Maybe to easy.Michael

Most professors are very kind. The school as reopened for in-person learning. The food and library are open. Staff, students, and visitors will need to fill out a health screen to be on campus. (I'd say take a screenshot to easily show the green check) The construction in the middle of campus is done and the beautiful campus is opened up. I like the school, and the professors are great. All of the professors I have taken have been kind. However, the staff- Araceli the manager from the mission college bookstore is extremely rude. She lacks customer service skills. She will yell at you in front of the entire store to the point where everyone is staring. Mission College has one of the most supportive and enthusiastic professors. I enjoy coming in to all of my classes because they engage me into their lesson plans. This was my first onsite class with DeVry. I have had such a great experience with my senior project class here at Naperville. Being that it was my first time, I had to get an ID and receive a quick orientation. The onsite staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. In this session, our class was granted the permission to occasionally use the Addison campus for access to the tech playground for our presentations. Our innovative teacher, Professor Rucks, encouraged us to explore and utilize the facility to aid in our course work. When I needed academic advice and assistance, Mr. Dufresne, Assistant Dean of Academic Excellence, made himself immediately available and went out of his way to make sure my needs were met. Professor Nichelle Manuel made Database Essentials for Business w/ Lab worth every hour taking this class valuable. Her instruction during the lectures made everything that i read just *Click* every week. Her patience with the class really came through when a classmate needed help to clarify a task in our Lab. When I first started signing up for my MBA I advised them that I had just graduated with my bachelors degree. My goal was to start August 5, and I submitted all my necessary paperwork and cooperated as such. When it got to my transcripts I was advised I could not start because the conferral date was not on the transcripts. The enrollment specialist told me to reach out to my previous school. I did and it was a hassle. I called the enrollment specialist at Capella to advise of the updates to only find out that Capella’s registrar team had already been in contact with my school. I wanted to start on the 5th as it was very discouraging to go through the process to be turned away at last minute. 1). Total waist of time as I took time out of my day to complete orientation and do what they advised of me. 2) I asked to speak with a supervisor who was very vague and could not provide the information needed. 3) I again called Capella to try and escalate the situation, but the manager never returned my call. I feel as if they had me sign up because they were the ones to get paid for each student to enroll and failed to educate me properly in the beginning, which is very misleading and discouraging. Since no one wanted to comply and take responsibility I will be escalating this to the BBB as this is not my fault and I should had been able to start in the promised time given and should have been educated properly.Tearra McCray

The worst university ever! They made me waste my time and my money from the first day, every time I communicated with them each counselor told me something different, and more than a month passed and I did not have an accurate answer on the status of my application, after a month a person from human resources let me know that I had to do my transcripts equivalency again on another website because the one I had already sent twice to them waiting for they review it (and that they themselves told me it was okay to do it that way) was not valid for them to take me into account to start the course this past October. 1- First time the transcripts were not encrypted, so they asked my to ask the institution they send it again but encrypted this time and I did it and sent it again. And after that they let me know that didn’t work for them. So I wasted my time, my money and above all the opportunity to start on the desired date. A very bad job of the staff. Very bad communication with the students who want to start there, and they also contradict each other. They all say different things and waste your time. They are also very rude. I hope that no one has this bad experience, nor misses the opportunity to start the course on the date they planned, and due to the horrible work of other people you lose opportunities in life.Claudia Espinosa

From the beginning of my Master's level school search, Capella stood out. I had a great recommendation from a friend already, but in researching complete online programs to work with my schedule, Capella checked all of the boxes I needed. I had a wonderful experience with my admissions counselor and continue to have great interactions with all communication. I am happy with all faculty thus far and feel that I am learning exactly what I need for my future as a school counselor. The course load is what I expected it to be and the time I spend on classwork is time well spent. I feel very confident that I will be prepared to enter the field of school counseling when I graduate. The very first thing Capella does once you are enrolled is to start you in a class to help navigate your program and get you familiar with the online format. This helped immensely and calmed my nerves for entering into a graduate program online. I feel very well cared for and have not had a negative experience yet! If anyone is looking into the medical assistant field please do yourself a favor and look at the pay rate and how much it costs to attend this horrible program. Program costs about 30k and MA barely make that yearly, you can go to a community college for about the same time and get paid to go. I cannot wait for SJVC to get sued for taking advantage of vulnerable people, giving false promises to students of a career in medical assistant, you will not be able to live on that type of low income. You have a better opportunity making more money at Target, most of my credits did not transfer even though I was told they would so I wasted my time. An amazing institution Went here as a student from Feb 2019 until graduation Oct 2019. I was enrolled in the front office medical admin program. 7 months and upon graduation, I passed and got nationally certified for billing/coding. My teacher Ms.Hernandez was amazing, caring and knowledgeable. The school and its staff went above and beyond for me (I was unemployed at the time) and now I am employed and have actual hope for my future. It taught me a variety of skills that applied in many jobs for medical assistants. The bad? It won't teach you everything. It won't get you a Masters Degree and a six figure job. But that's not the point of this trade School. It's a start, a path to better prospects. It's made good on that so far =)Vince M

I had previously been accepted to a university, having experience payment issues (that school was wicked expensive) I found SJVC, they help me make a smooth transition from the other school to there and my time there was amazing. Meeting different people from different programs and other people who just didn't want the traditional school experience. I went for my certificate MOA program (took 7 months of class time and 2 months of externship time). Loved my teacher and classmates and learning was easy and I understood all the lessons. I even got on the dean's list after getting my certificate. My career counselor even helped me find my full time job. Well i started this school last year in January and just finish and got my Liscenes. Ues there are thing that could be better at this school. But is there any school thats perfect? No. It really all depends on you. You get out what you put in. Have a bad attitude youll have a bad time. If you came to this school for the right reasons youll do fine. I recently graduated from the Electrical Technology program. Overall I feel satisfied with the program. The teachers are top notch industry guys and they really want you to succeed and will bend over backwards to help you understand the material. Unfortunately I went through 90% of the program during the corona virus shutdown and it made it difficult to do without the constant hands on part. So I had to make sure during the open labs I got as much put of it as I could. Which still taught me a lot more then I expected. I was satisfied even through the program being shut down. The HVAC program is a complete waste of time and money. I did 4 modules, and two of those made me regret attending SJVC. The school lost a very knowledgeable teacher and out of desperation hired a teacher that had no teaching experience. The Dean doesn't care about her students, I had multiple conversations with her about the program that lead nowhere. The school doesn't have teachers that can teach, my advice is to look for another school like I am.Jesus Vigil

Enrolling in classes at Career College of Nevada (CCNN) was the best decision I have made in my entire life, and it could be yours also. I followed my dreams, graduated, and landed a job paying $20 an hour to start. The instructors at the school are knowledgeable and will do whatever is necessary to assist students in learning, point out additional resources, and provide tips and stories gleaned from working in the field themselves. The administrative staff at the school also assists students and graduates in keeping administrative and financial things in order. The school also provides free attendance to graduates who want to re-attend certain courses to refresh their memories, prepare for certification exams, or pick up any new information to keep up with changes in the field you graduate in. In addition, the job placement staff are there for you when you begin job searching, whether you are in school, have graduated, or are looking for a job change. I moved to Nevada to start a "new life" I had very little self-esteem and decided to go to school at Career College of Northern Nevada. This was the best decision I have ever made. At this school I met some really great people especially the teachers! I got really good grades, remained on the honor roll the entire time and when i graduated I was very concerned about being able to find a job because of a lack of self-esteem. I had little faith in myself but Placement was always there guiding me and encouraging me to just try. I received a call a few months after I graduated and was told that my teachers recommended me for a job in Reno at Specialty Health Clinic. I came in the day before my interview to prepare myself a little. I was soooo nervous. I went to my interview and the next day I got the call that I got the job!!! In Northern Nevada there are several options and paths that you can take to further your education. Most of these are full time educational institutions with varied prerequisites that will not apply in your chosen career path. The first day I submitted a request for information Nicole Brand, one of the admissions representatives gave me a call. She has made the process of enrolling seamless and goes the extra mile to make sure you either get credit for prior education or offers test out options for skills that I already have. I’ve been doing Penn Foster online schooling for almost a whole year now. I’ve found this online experience a great one. They are very helpful in all ways possible. I’ve called a few time and their stuff is helpful and kind. They help so much with the questions you ask and reassurance you need. You go at your own past, fast, or as slow as you want. I’ve struggled so much in the past with schools , I’ve been to over 6+ schools and I started at the point have an IEP/ taking classes for it. Penn Foster online High School, has helped me understand so much and I love how I can learn at my own past. The price is also reasonable. I can stay up till 3AM and do my work. I’ve finished a class in a whole week at times. I’d stay really hard. Not only that Penn Foster always keeps you up to date on thing that are happening with your account. I am the mother of two students at Penn Foster who just graduated. They are 15 and 17 years of age. They were placed in Penn Foster due to being bullied by teachers at their local school. My oldest enrolled with 0 credits in Oct of 2019 and my youngest enrolled with 7 credits in June of 2020. My oldest graduated Dec 07, 2020 and my youngest graduated Dec 23. 2020. They loved that they could go as slow or as fast as the wanted. They loved not having a schedule or having to have any interactions with teachers. Their overall experience was great. I have one more student, my 16 year old step-daughter working on it now. She's 41% done. We also have a 14 year old who will be enrolling once done with 8th grade. The SJVC-online BSRT program is very user friendly when it comes to ones computer skills. There are some minor glitches here and there when it comes to assignment communication. I am very happy with my decision in choosing SJVC to obtain my Bachelor’s degree. The staff of this school is pretty good with communication, especially the Dean. Whenever i had a problem he was fast to solve the issue. The experience was great. I did have to find my own extern site, but my career advisor was really supportive and helpful. I wanted to attend the Nursing program but no one has responded so I will probably not do it here. I started the program with Ms Perez as my lab instructor and ended with Ms Patrice. I'm older, laid off from a 25yr career and didn't know what to do with my life let alone where to start. Ms Perez and Ms Patrice made learning so easy, fun and amongst all, they made it interesting and made me feel excited to keep attending. The process at Unitek is easy to complete due to the communication level the staff has with their students. My career advisor, Ms Lisa is great! Ms Lisa Literally held my hand through the exiting process, kept in touch throughout my externship, made sure I was staying sane throughout the process of going to extern, working nights and taking care of my family. Walked me through my application process for a job, held my hand through the interview process, kept in touch throughout the whole process until I got an offer letter!!!! Ms. Lisa Haynes in Career Services is a hard worker & goes to bat for her students. I received a job offer during my externship, that was too good to pass up as a new grad, thanks to her guidance. I recommend taking your MA in the day class as the PM class lacks structure & professionalism with one particular teacher…that is the only reason I left off a star. The school itself has a fully functioning lab for clinical experience, is safe, clean, holds dinners or gives treats for student morale and tuition is less than other schools in the Bay Area.Jennifer Wills

IOT might be a great school but as for the nursing program that was one of the worst experiences of my life. I usually dont review places or make a fuss about things but in this case I feel obligated to warn people about this program and the people who run it. My name is Luis Alberto Salazar and for personal reasons I go by my middle name, for one whole year that I was enrolled at IOT I would ask Dr. Bar to call me by my middle name, every time she would refuse. This constant battle I had with her made me very uncomfortable to the point where it felt like harassment. She would belittle me and compare me to her child constantly. I felt humiliated in front of the class in multiple occasions. I cant stress enough how important ones name is to their identity. That is something that she does not understand, if you are someone who does not go by their birth name or if you are trans and you have changed your name, please consider another nursing program.Alberto Salazar

Mrs. D is the best teacher I could’ve asked for. She taught us from the book but also shared her experiences in the medical field as well. I appreciated that because I was able to apply that to when I started working in the medical field as well. Overall, I think this is the best vocational school you can go to because the staff really cares to help you, and they offer different class hours to help with our busy schedules. The Heating and Refrigeration training had some awesome teachers that made sure that the students understood the lectures and study materials. Institute of technology also had a nice resource room and a Computer Room to do all my projects and homework. I’ve attended Carrington College in Albuquerque for three programs! I started with Medical Assisting, which, after completing, was helped with externship placement, getting my certification, and job placement. After graduation from Medical Assisting, I went right into the Associates in Health Studies program and after graduating from that program, entered Medical Coding and Billing…… which, at the time of writing this, I have successfully completed and have just ordered my cap and gown for graduation!! After this, my last program will be the nursing program! Carrington has been absolutely instrumental in not only providing me with a solid education in healthcare, but also taught me the importance of professionalism, showing up early every day no matter what, the all-important resume writing, job interview techniques along with placement, and preparing me to take my certification tests in each program. Samantha guided me through the externship process after classes and was available for any questions, and words of encouragement along the way to completion! Paul in Financial Aid, was a sweetheart who walked me through the financial portion of all three of my programs! Carrington College in Albuquerque is the best! The staff is amazing, from ms. Terry always having the front smelling wonderful, along with a pleasant greeting/farewell each morning. I was transitioning from a new career so you can imagine the excitement and anxiety I got before attending this class, however, the instructors and materials made everything easily understandable. CIMS is a great place to learn. Most of the staff are not only amazing and welcoming but friendly and helpful. Sherrie was so helpful with registering and helping with any and all problems with ADB. Mr. Jackson is a man of few words but always welcoming and helpful. Ms. B is an amazing instructor, she’s tough but exactly what is needed to prepare you for the medical field. If you listen, pay attention and put a little effort in you’ll do amazing. Thank you for helping me get back into the medical field, I’ve always been fascinated by it all. As a student with little knowledge in the medical field I chose the Lab Assistant course at California Institute of Medical Science. All of the skills and training received were exceptional. It as fun, interactive and very helpful. The clinical hours are even more exciting. Awesome experience. I had to get my ACLS for my new job, I was able to set my class as soon as possible. The process was quick, efficient, and well explained. Cheapest ACLS in the Valley. During the class they go over the basics to the complex, everything you need to know is clear and well stated for you to succeed in the class. Our instructor Daniel, is an amazing, smart, and helpful instructor that wants you to excel in the class. Also, the facility provides with plenty of free snacks, including coffee, soda, crackers, chips. It is 200% recommended and worth the money. Thanks guys!Edgar Meza

Kevin is Amazing! He is very knowledgeable and was up to date with changes made to NRP. He was welcoming and created a calming atmosphere which immediately relaxed me, allowing me to think. Truly one of the best classes that I have ever attended. The instructor Kevin was extremely knowledgeable and highly engaging in his approach. This school only cares about the money you pay them. I remember the director contacting me so many times in a week to pay my past due. I was still waiting for my VA benefits to kick in. Then I was told if I don’t pay by this date, I will be removed from the program. So I applied for a loan to pay off my past due. After that I was never harassed again. I expected a lot from this school. From great didactic instructors to clinical instructors. But that did not happened. I only had one good didactic instructor. My clinical instructor was lazy and always complaining. The leadership did not care about you. Just their well being as a school. Your grades don’t matter. Also they did not care if you are a military veteran. There were times that I had to clock in using my phone which is not allowed, but my clinical instructor was always late so I couldn’t clock in using a computer. I was removed from the MRI program because I was DISHONEST. Instead of helping you to improve, they just remove you from the program because they got what they needed from you. MONEY! No kind of remediation whatsoever. Just after your MONEY. You’re better off with Unitek where they care about their students emotionally, spiritually, and personally. Being a nurse is way better than being an MRI tech.👎Ervan Valdez

I applied to the Gurnick Academy ultrasound technology program ( San Mateo campus ), At first I was getting constant email reminders to complete documents before the deadline date . After I completed everything I had an panel interview set up , the interview went well overall but I was asked a certain question that I didn’t completely understand and when I hesitated ( and felt nervous ) the interviewer rudely responded with frustration at my delayed response . At the end of the interview they informed me that I would receive a response within 3 weeks. Within a few days I received an email demanding that I complete a financial aid form within that day “ just in case” I get into the program even though I hadn’t received an acceptance letter. Well.. 3 weeks passed and I sent a follow up email kindly thanking everyone that attended the interview for there time and consideration . I didn’t get a single reply back from that email , a month after the interview day they emailed me informing that I didn’t get in and should try applying next year . The negative reviews I read after the fact are correct , it seemed like they were only after money .Amani Abdaw

I have had the pleasure of working with Gurnick and their students for over 4 years and can say it has been a wonderful experience. The MRI students sent to my facility for clinical training are professional, hard-working and team players. All my Technologists are Gurnick grads!
