I have mixed feelings about my time at Cleveland Community College. The student services and enrollment center is outstanding. The go out of their way to get students the help they need with little to no hassle. I was able to receive all of my learning accommodations and register for classes with ease. I would like to say thank you to Dr. Willis. He was the best part about my college experience at Cleveland and is what every professor should strive to be. However, the most dissatisfactory experience was that of the quality of healthcare department. I expected a little more passion and respect from my advisor and professors in the Bailey building. They have an attitude comparable to that of the any DMV. The education is of low quality because the just cram material and expect you to get it quickly (85 pages of anatomy in four days), I had to battle with them to use my laptop in class, and they are the type of professors that like to give pop quizzes just to add to our suffering. Also, if you are a radiography student and live in Gaston County, be prepared to drive 90min to a clinical site and leave at 9:00pm, while coming back to CCC the following morning at 8:00am. The amount of stress they inflict on students is insane! This is coming from someone who has achieved nearly 130 college credit hours and is typically a straight A student.Sherman Norton

As an IT student, I've had a very mediocre experience studying for my double major (IT Networking and Systems Security). Just recently, however, I've gone through one of the most infuriating and stressful experiences I've had in years brought on by their NET-125 instructor. This instructor does not clearly list their standards for submitting work, and I've been given several zeroes for completed work that was submitted in their entirety, or missing one or so minor parts (such as leaving a comment saying you did the work). After several attempts to contact this instructor with no response, I've given up trying to talk with them about these grades. For this reason and several others, I'm led to believe that this instructor does not care about the success of their students, contradictory to what they like to advertise. Their habit of giving zeroes for missing small portions of assignments that never actually pertain to furthering the students' education or demonstrate a student's competency with the material they've learned is a pointless and detestable practice. Would an instructor with a good work ethic and a genuine desire to teach and cultivate learning in their students give out the absolute worst grades possible to the pupils who are actively learning and submitting nearly completed work, but miss out on a few small details?Valkyrie

Had a great time visiting the welding school a Cleveland Tech College. Their welding course is superb and they teach the students everything they could possibly need to know about breaking in the welding career. The head instructor Tim Wisher is a personal friend and his associate Dana is a great place to visit and talk shop. I'm a retired pipeline welder I have known Tim for probably close to fifteen years now. he really cares about his students and wants them to progress to have a bright future. Starting college in the middle of all of the pandemic confusion has been hard but CSCC has gone above and beyond to make the transition easier, which is more than I can say for a much larger state university just a few counties away!(I have a senior there) Thank you Cleveland State! I loved it there! Smaller class sizes made for more individualized attention for educational excellence. All of my professors were readily available if needed. My adviser was an eye opener for me with one simple question. "What do YOU want to do?" That question opened up a whole new world for me. Both my wife and I were returning college students and Stark State Alumni class of 2012. We both received a great education. She went for respiratory therapy and I went for Graphic Design. The graphic design program was wonderful. The professors were all very knowledgeable and really cared about their students (huge shout outs to Michelle Lash and Eugene Starr). The classes are small and it's very easy to schedule time with the professors if you need help or need to go over some things. It's also nice to have online classes if that's your thing. For the younger students (and older alike), Stark State also hooks you up with SALT at no charge after graduation, which is a useful tool to help find employement after graduation. Luckily I furthered my career without having to use SALT. The biggest recommendation I could suggest would be to offer more of certain classes. Sometimes only one class is offered a semester and can conflict with working hours. Thank you, Stark State and to all of my professors for giving me a great education and giving me a fighting chance in the workforce after graduation. I attended Stark State College a number of years ago when it was Stark Technical College. I am surprised by the negative reviews, because I had a great experience at the school. I graduate with a degree in Computer Technology, and the courses were challenging and taught me a lot. I still remember some of the great instructors like Mrs. McBride in my math classes. I even worked there part-time for about a year doing LAN Administration. They have provided me with a foundation for a very successful career in IT. I later completed my Bachelor degree at Kent State. I am currently completing my MBA. I was able to get a copy of my transcripts, even after graduating 25 years ago, by faxing in a request. I did this for two different Universities, and they arrived within a week. In this age there should be a way to do it electronically like Kent State, but at least they do not charge you for them. Overall I had an excellent experience and they prepared me for a very rewarding career in Computer Technology. I absolutely have no regrets about this school, and I enjoyed my time there.Kevin Frazier

I can not believe Stark State has less than 4 stars! This is my second semester and I LOVE it! The faculty are truly amazing and extremely helpful! This college also offers small class room sizes which makes learning more personal. Your teachers and professors always do their best to know each student by name. It is also extremely great for working folks who have busy work loads. They have many courses that can virtually work with any type of schedule. There are many success programs that Stark State offers, including assistance with any subject as well as a great Accommodations program for those with any learning disability/disability from minor to severe. Stark State also always keeps their students in the know through text message and emails. They give you the tools you need in order to succeed. Highly recommend this college!elisabeth brian

Veteran Review: I attended COTC and graduated with an Associates in Nursing. I can say that it was very cumbersome to attend COTC as a veteran. I utilized my Tuition assistance and needed to "push them along" the entire way. Every semester I had to contact veterans affairs and tell them what I needed them to do to approve TA. My understanding is that they needed prompted in every way and every time I needed something completed to allow me access to my tuition assistance. This includes having to pay for a semester out of pocket do to their delay in assistance and lack of ability to complete my necessary needs on their own. From my understanding, they should understand this. I am currently attempting to apply for my bachelors 2 semesters later and I am unable to receive tuition assistance, because COTC has not submitted my graduated status to TA and I am unable to attend classes as a consequence to said incident. All said and done: If you are a veteran, be prepared to coax COTC along to get what you need.SSG Ben Moran RN

I had a very close immediate relative die during summer semester. When my immediate relative had a stroke, I did not notify my professors on the matter. Sorry, my thoughts are not on telling my online professors about my relative bleeding in the brain. My time was spent in the hospital, hospice, and at work. I missed a few assignments but notified my professors at my earliest convenience. The work was completed. Professor Sample for PSY-210-NA failed me on multiple assignments, accused me of plagiarizing from a blog, and is the reason I will not be graduating this semester from COTC. The plagiarizing accusation is because I had "similar sentences of a blog post." What a joke. Never take a class as Professor Sample as your professor. Do yourself a favor and just go to a different school. I will NOT be going back there. President Coe and other faculty members at COTC I contacted did not help in any matter. Of course, they took the side of Professor Sample.Adam A

I… HATE… COTC! Its the nightmare that will never end. My husband leaves for the military in one week… His recruiter needs his college transcript, so that he can get a higher ranking, more pay and one of the jobs he wants. All he needs is the transcript. We went in on the 22nd and paid extra to have the transcript sent. They told us they would send it out that day or the next. Well today we saw his recruiter and he STILL hasn't received the transcript. We went into COTC and had to talk to them AGAIN about this. Oh did I forget to mention that when my husband first started seeing his recruiter, he paid extra to have his transcript and then they handed it to my husband, therefore making it unacceptable to the Air Force. This is not even close to the first problem either of us has had with them. Oh, maybe you all should check out there 'graduation rate.' Less than 20 percent of people even graduate! A majority of the positive reviews on this site are biased and are from the staff. Please, heed the warnings that you see here. Some of these positive comments come as a result of the staff coercing someone to post a positive review. Please, do not believe the positive reviews – for the sake of your wallet and academic progress. Coming to this college was nothing but a huge waste of time and money. By far the worst college ON THE PLANET. Please, go anywhere else but here. A lot of the credits do not transfer, the staff is rude and doesn't care about you, and a professor at Sinclair told me that they consider these classes to be sub-standard. Don't waste your time or money. The only thing they care about is your money. I understand that you may want to attend a community college because it's cheaper, but do keep in mind that you only get what you pay for and at clark state that isn't much! Low tuition fees = low quality institution. The professors are not here because they want to ensure the success of their students. They're here to collect a paycheck and enhance the appearance of their resumes.John S

It is so incredibly difficult and annoying trying to contact ANYONE at Clark State. Trying to speak with anyone at all via phone during normal business hours during the day on a normal weekday is just a string of voicemail after voicemail and no one ever calls back. The only way to accomplish anything, even having a simple question answered, is to physically go to the school and deal with someone directly. And even then, probably 90% of the staff are not helpful and talk to you like you are incompetent. I am finally finishing up my 2 years at Clark State in order to get the classes that I need to transfer into a 4 year school. It has been a constant battle to get anything done at this school. The teaching staff HAS been very helpful, but the staff that work in the offices (testing center, records & registration, cashier's office) are so condescending it is unbelievable. After spending thousands of dollars every semester to attend classes here, you would think the staff would be just only SLIGHTLY more respectful.Alisha Scott

My daughter has been trying to reach out to Clark to attend this Fall and NOBODY has returned her messages or calls. So I decided to check into the ratings on this community college. After reading some of the reviews with low ratings I’m understanding why Clark will not return my daughters calls or messages. I’m willing to try one more time in the hopes of getting an explanation. However, if I cannot get a hold of anyone, then I will take it that this is my sign that Clark is obviously NOT the college for my daughter. I would rather look for another college for her to attend with a much better education. if Clark cannot get their stuff together to return messages and called to students that are wanting to attend a hen how can they have their stuff together to teach students. Taking part in the cyber security program, I can say that I had a great experience. My advisor (Esther Salem) was experienced and knew exactly what she was doing. From all of my teachers I only have had two which I would not recommend (of which I will not name names). Only thing that I did not enjoy was the lack of clubs that existed for student recreation. During my first year there was an anime club, but it fell apart when the leader graduated. For my last year and a half a few friends and I started the unofficial DnD club which eventually became a official club my last semesterJoseph

I put $114 down for Housing a couple months ago but decided I wasn't gonna be going to this college so I asked if I could get a refund and at the beginning of March they said it would be refunded to me by the 16th of March and it was never refunded I have contacted Housing and they have told me to contact Cashiers Office about it and when I call the Cashiers Office they say I need to talk to Housing I'm getting annoyed with these games they are playing then I called them about a week ago and they said they would have to write their boss to handle it and they would call back within 24 hours they NEVER called back and I still haven't received my refund I'm glad I decided not to go here I'll be attending a nice university I got accepted into instead the price is outrageous anyways for being the college this is and also has a lot of bad reviews I've never left a bad review before but this really irritated me that money could have helped me outMackenzie

I have had a very positive experience with Hocking College my first year. I love the program I am in and am having lots of fun learning the material and connecting with students and my professors. I will say the environment is rough around the edges and difficult at times to stay focused and stay positive, which is why I am living off campus so i can come home to much more uplifting environment. Like with every profession and career you find good and bad employees. With that said I have experienced questionable behavior that was not above approach from faculty at times, but my overall experience with the housing, registration, and financial department has been positive and I have felt supported. I love Hocking College! It is my first year here. I have attended a 4 year school prior to this one. I must say, the classrooms here are much smaller. The instructors are nicer, and the workload is much easier. I feel at home here and I'm looking forward to obtaining my degree. The learning has a "hands on" feel. The buildings are close together so you never have far to go. The campus is beautiful and the buildings are kept clean. Even the bathrooms are nice! I reccomend Hocking College to anyone who feels overwhelmed attending a 4 year school. Also, Hocking has a great transfer module program, where you can transfer to a 4 year college after obtaining your associates degree. I'm glad to be here.Valerie Dixon

Horrible school. I attended the school for about 2 years and have a better experience at the DMV. I was told in high school by a Cincinnati State that my credits would transfer from Cincinnati State to University of Cincinnati seamlessly – they did not. In fact when I went to UC, they stated they could accept me as a transfer student but none, zero, NADA – of my credits would transfer. I applied to Miami University (Ohio) and was able to have 3 classes transferred. Miami was also cheaper at the time than Cincinnati State. I had to start all over from scratch after 2 useless years at Cincinnati State. The staff at Cincinnati State, including the teachers, were low quality. Staff seemed to brush off any concerns you have. Asking for help? Only the minimum is provided to guide you in the direction you need. Teachers mostly seemed to be low quality and bottom of the barrel – I only had 2 teachers that were okay out of 2 years. A few teachers I was able to show issues with tests or exams – although they agreed that I was correct at the time, one refused to fix the exam grades for everyone because "That is what the test key answer is and she would have to go back and regrade all the tests"… Sorry? That is literately your job… The next teacher could not understand the wording of their own test question that they provided (online) and would not correct the answer for the students. I communicated this error via email and was pushed away. I pushed back stating the teacher was incorrect and provided the work as to why the answer was wrong, in a professional tone. The teacher responded unprofessionally by changing the color of the text in the email to red, downplaying my proof, not using punctuation, and using unprofessional language. I dropped the class as this is not a teacher in my eye; but someone who is there for a paycheck. Cincinnati State had a graduation rate of just over 12% when I attended. 12% of students graduate from this school…. For the 2019 year it is now 17.9%. The odds of you attending this school for 2-3 years and graduating are very low. You are better off attending a real college if you are serious about your future. The overall poor quality as well. I have never experienced so many arguments between teachers and students in a classroom before. After class is over, everyone leaves campus immediately unless they have another class within the next hour or so. The current ad campaign that is on TV does not portray the school correctly. The average age of students is middle age. There is very few labs due to limited budget. Little to no student engagement events. Printers were not free. Book store was a COMPLETE ripoff, some classes did not require the book due to costs. Teachers would not communicate to students about schedule changes in tests and exams effectively for online classes (I missed my final Physics exam due to this). Save 2 years of your life and go somewhere else. I am not the only one with a really bad experience. If you know someone that attended or attends Cincinnati State, talk to them. You will typically find they did not graduate or they think it is okay but plan to transfer to another school before they finish. My experience at Cincinnati State was something of a mixed bag. I had previously attended a 4-year university but was seeking a career change. Given the low cost of attendance that community colleges provide, I figured that Cincinnati State would be a great option. My first year of studies were great. I had some very kind professors who genuinely cared about the students and the material that they taught. Some faculty members could be a bit rude at times, but that is to be expected in higher education. After my first year, I truly felt like I was on the way to great success. My second year on the other hand turned out to be quite the opposite. During my first semester back from co-op, I received notification that I had been dropped from two classes without explanation. Upon reaching out to the registrar, I was told to contact my program chair/advisor. Upon reaching out to my advisor, I was not given any guidance. I felt like I was really left to my own devices to try to figure out how to schedule my classes. In addition, I found the teaching quality to be quite disappointing. In the one class that I was able to take that semester, my professor did not once hand out a syllabus or explain the grading rubric. I persistently asked him when grades would be given back, and he would give me a specific date. Only once did he ever give back grades on said date. The rest were given at the end of the semester, thus leaving all students in a state of anxiety over what our final grade would be. He stressed the importance of attendance and punctuality but was hardly ever on time for class. On some occasions, he even made me late to work because class would run over. For these reasons as well as the problems mentioned earlier about the administration, I decided not to return to Cincinnati State. In short, Cincinnati State is a good option for those seeking a low-cost education, and there are some great programs and professors here. However, the unorganized and highly bureaucratic administration combined with some exceptionally unprofessional professors keep the school from being as great as it could be. Please tread lightly if considering Cincinnati State now or in the future.Nick Workman

My review was removed probably by google because I mentioned that I don’t appreciate how their curriculum is trying to indoctrinate you. It’s other wise a good school. I got my degree in two years and had no problems. The instructors for my program were great. But it’s absurd in my opinion that a college feels the need to assert their opinions in to every core class. My English class was consistently wanting us to watch TED talks that talked about political standpoints. My sociology professor was the absolute worst. Even if you did an assignment and followed the rubric, but disagreed with her opinion, she would give you a lower score. Then try to justify it by using her own opinion as sources. She also said that anyone who believes in God is likely uneducated. Overall, my experience was good and I’m glad I got my degree here. But it’s just too liberal for my taste.Britt Jones

I am an alumni. B.S. Chemical Engineering 2008, M.S. Biomedical Engineering 2012. I chose CSU as my undergrad school over Case Western because Case is ridiculously expensive and I received a full scholarship to CSU. My mother told me I could choose whatever school I wanted but if I passed the scholarship up for 40k+ a year in debt she would kill me. Thanks mom, you were right as always! The Chemical and Biomedical Engineering departments are outstanding. Great faculty, small class sizes, professors that legitimately care about the students but also won't put up with BS from students that aren't taking their own (or their classmates') education seriously. The head of the BME department at the time had a major impact on my life. He personally took interest in helping me get a full scholarship during the second year of my M.S. (Choose Ohio First scholarship), helped me land a Teaching Assistant position AND a fantastic internship. THANK YOU! CSU is not perfect though. I had some bad professors (and also excellent ones) in the math and physics departments. That is hard to avoid at any school. Many of the school departments are much, much bigger than mine so you may lose some of the personal interest from professors when your graduating undergrad class is more than 12 like mine. I tried to make use of the career center multiple times but they were not helpful in job searching. Also the Fenn College of Engineering (now the Washkewicz College of Engineering) building is woefully old and dated. It's so bad that in my second year in 2006 a metal fence had to be put about 10 – 15 feet in front of the building facade so no one would be injured by the crumbling concrete. I wish I was joking. The engineering labs were also filled with old equipment, the classrooms were missing technology that is standard in other schools like projectors. Note that this was all before the very generous donation from Mr. Washkewicz so I hope things have improved. The only other complaint I have is that my graduation requirements changed a couple times during my B.S. and I had a VERY difficult time finding out if I was on track for graduation. In fact I wasn't sure that I was going to graduate until I got confirmation about a month before graduation! Even with these complaints I had a great experience at CSU, which is why I went back for my M.S. after briefly considering Ohio State University. It was my professors and department that made the decision easy, they had a great positive effect on my life and I owe a lot to them.Jim

I'm a business student currently in my third year at CSU (transferred from Kent State) and have nothing but good things to say about this school. The campus is beautiful and right in the center of Downtown, giving you easy access to tons of interesting things to do in Cleveland. The general vibe of the campus is very laid back and friendly, and despite what other reviews seem to say, this is a very liberal/progressive and diverse school with many students of all walks of life. I feel I have received a perfectly adequate education at CSU, as someone who cares mainly about getting ready for a career and moving into the business world. There are good professors and bad ones, but the majority of them have been very likeable and knowledgeable. Many of my business professors have lots of real world experience and many years working in their field. I cannot comment on the other departments, but the business school is excellent and has many career services available to students. As a commuter student I love the RTA pass they provide, so I don't have to worry about driving and parking downtown (yes, their parking situation is pretty terrible here). Finally I'd like to say shame on the idiots who are giving my school 1-star reviews because of a faux pas made by the administration. The first amendment comment was misinformed, but it's far from supporting the offensive poster. Anyone trying to paint CSU as anti-LGBTQ because of that poster debacle is ignorant.Steven Barnes

I love Cleveland State. I am a biology pre-med major and the department is great. However, if you live in the dorms, don't plan on getting your mail anytime soon. It takes at least 10 days added on to the normal mail time to receive any type of letter or package. I ended up just getting a P.O. box at a local post office. The education and clubs are great. There are so many great opportunities here to take advantage of. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone who wants to live in the city and get a great education.Madison Chapanar

I love Columbus State and this is why: Before Columbus State: Growing up, I was never interested in the information taught in school, because I did not feel like it was applicable to the real world. After a year at a private college, I was originally apprehensive to restart college at any college. I was also scared of a community college. I grew up in Michigan, and I felt like our local community colleges had negative stigmas attached to them. Luckily, my older brother took me into the application office in Delaware, OH to take the entrance exam. I believe I tested out of an english and/or a math class. While at Columbus State: I would like to note that I always attended C-State as I held a part time job (10-20 hours a week). I originally attended an EMT-B class at Columbus State. The class was more challenging than I had anticipated and was pretty time consuming. I received a B in this course, but found employment immediately in the field and felt confident in my skills. A year later, I returned to C-State with the desires to go to nursing school. Thanks to ample meetings with advisors in Health and Human Services, I decided to take some prerequisite nursing classes as there was a waiting list to apply for their nursing program (while I worked part time as an EMT-B). During this year, I found more confidence in my work and studies, feelings of support and encouragement from staff, and rewards from hard work. I was also able to sign up easily for academic accommodations for the first time in my life! I loved my time at Columbus State within this year! I never thought I would love school or receive my first 4.0 GPA in the spring and summer semesters. For the first time, school finally felt fulfilling for me. After Attending Columbus State: I decided to leave C-State after a full academic year, and I pursued a BSN degree through another local school. I often look back at my time at C-State and regret that I did not take more classes here while saving a decent amount of money! I would suggest night classes if you are willing and able. I found that students were more likely to be hard working, more mature, disciplined, and also employed. I also found professors who taught night classes were often from OSU and more understanding. Generally my teachers were all very competent, funny, and held experience in the world. The only negative experience that I found was dealing with C-Stat's Police department staff and accessing their gym/locker room. Students must sign up manually for the gym locker rooms every semester at C-State's Police department and then wait for several days for your card to be accepted from security/police. This system seems dated and non-productive. I feel like this process should be easily automated. This issue led to a negative experience I had with a police officer that identified as Sergeant Diamond. I felt like this officer escalated my personal situation while being disrespectful and patronizing. Another time I was eating a meal in my car between classes when a police car pulled up to me and asked why I was parked between two spots in an empty parking lot and then asked me to pick a spot. I'm sure the police department deals with things they don't want to. I could have been lucky and experienced two poor attitudes on hard days, but I do not feel like the police department is fulfilling their mission that states they want to provide "exceptional customer service" for their students based on my only two experiences with them. I would take a look at how the police staff is trained at C-State.Connor Hill

I have enjoyed Columbus State and majority of the people I’ve met here while on track to my BA but this college needs some serious restructuring. The biggest thing I wish Cstate would look into is their faculty. When I go to ratemyprofessor.com and see many of them at a 1 to 2 star rating, that concerns me. I have personally had good and bad professors here and majority of the good ones were adjunct professors, the bad ended up being tenured faculty. I wish the college would look into the gripes students have and start to question whether or not they should be hiring adjunct professors to replace them. The only other major issue I’ve had is from advisors. The point of the advisor is to advise the student on their education path, but when I have a genuine question or concern, interrupting/having a snarky attitude doesn’t come off as professional to me. One last thing, please talk with the finance department about putting a budget together for another parking garage. I don’t go during peak hours anymore but when I did parking was atrocious. It will be 6 weeks this semester (Spring 2019) before CSCC releases financial aid refunds. I cannot believe they get away with this! OSU is 9 days after the start of the semester! Some people rely on these excess funds to survive another semester of school! This should be illegal and I’m pretty sure it is because according to federal financial aid funds are to be released up to a max of 14 days after the start of a semester! Insane to make people wait 6 weeks+ to receive their refund. Also, parking is obnoxious here any time of day. It also seems to me that each department does not have a good linear structure of teaching so each professor is just kind of doing their own thing whichever way they feel like doing it. Some classes are too long some are too short. It really feels like no one is in control here it’s just a free for all I guess. Employees are not friendly in any way shape or form. The registered nursing program is a joke. Very disappointed I wasted my time and money going there. It’s pretty bad when the students know more than the “professors”. The people running the program were unprofessional and lazy to say the least. Paid for a certain amount of credit hours and they only had class half of the times we were scheduled. Lessons were taught per self by reading hundreds of pages per night because the professors were unsure what they were teaching. During class time professors had crying babies and barking dogs along with many more distractions. Spoke higher up and the dean was absolutely useless, wouldn’t take any responsibility for the low class education. The program does not equip students to become skilled nurses. If you have standards for your education I recommend going elsewhere.Abby Hileman

I would never go back to this school. I was very disappointed in the teachers in medical program but also try to reach out to the dean and she was not very understanding and rude. So many of the students in our class try to reach out to the teachers about not understanding the material they were teaching so we had to self teach ourselves .It seems like all the school wanted was money and not care at all about the students education. It's pretty bad when you have more than 12 plus students complaining and them not wanting to do anything. This place is mostly money hungry ,and it's very disappointing . They should be caring for all the students futures and do there best to guide them not break them down.S G

Worst College Ever. Tried taking summer classes here and it was unbelievable the amount of trouble I went through. No organization what so ever. My advisor scheduled me the wrong classes for the summer so I tried setting up an interview with her twice to have her change what classes I need to take and she was a no show both times. Then I finally got the right classes registered a week before the semester starts. Then they tell me that I was suppose to pay for the classes the week before that even though they didn’t have the right classes. For online classes they cost more than in person lecture classes at AU. Would not recommend this “place” to anyoneTyler Croskey

Honestly, should have listened to everyone discrediting this school. Cheaper ain't better. This school has stressed me out and I've only been attending for one semester. They keep changing my aid amount, will not reimburse my refund and all together have made my college experience a nightmare in hell especially with me working full-time. It always something new going on with my financial information for the following semester and new requirements that were completed prior to me attending resurfacing. Who has the time to keep re-ensuring that they're getting the money they already previously accepted? It doesn't matter how early you send your FAFSA in, they will find a way to have it reprocessed so late that you won't recieve the amount you already accepted. Very poor experience, people don't care about the disabled students, they had charged me over $1k for not helping me get into my classes and they've abandoned me in 2010. One star for absolute failure. Edit: 9/14/2022 this so-called trio program from Owens community college isn't helpful not resourceful of how am I supposed to go to college, they sign me up late not knowing I'm missing out on my assignments and these advisors in the school are lazy and rude like they don't care for the disabled students such as myself. Attended Owens and completed an Associates degree in 2001. Returned to a local area 4 year college to complete a Bachelor of Science. Due to the high cost and mediocre experience. I chose to take as many transfer classes as possible at Owens. A full time semester was a fraction of a 4 year college semester. Pretty rigorous course material and most importantly, courses are well structured, you could actually work ahead following the syllabus. Students and staff are pleasant. Have my 4 year degree, and returning to Owens for certificate programs to fill in the gaps from said 4 year college curriculum.Brent A.

This college has frequent issues with their website when turning in or doing assignments. Return books to bookstore that you rent, and they "misplace" some, and charge YOU for it. No one fixes it…. Hard to get in touch with everyone. No way to work on a time frame with this college with issues with websites, and no way to get in contact with ANYONE you need to regarding logging in, assignments, registering, financial aid etc. etc. Last time i signed up everything took so long classes had already started for a whole week while i was still trying to get set up for each class. The FIRST day i was on the class page to try to catch up the teacher gave me a 0 on my first several assignments… EVEN THOUGH… I stayed up late the day I registered and got my books and tried to work toward catching up… I want to go back to college, but I don't think this is the one to be in…Amanda Arnett

The bookstore is horrible. The employees, not the student employees, were terribly rude. They did not give me all the textbooks I ordered online and it took 3 people and yelling for them to finally understand that they did not give me the access code. I even brought back the receipt and my actual order confirmation. They lied and argued with me about my order being fulfilled and held for me. When I was looking into going to Ross I was a little apprehensive because I wasn't sure if this program was really any good. From the minute I walked in the door all my apprehension was gone!! The admissions staff made me feel right at home and walked me through the process step by step and answered all my questions. The financial aid staff was wonderful and answered all my questions about my financial aid and got it processed quickly. The school director was absolutely the best!! She takes time to actually sit you down and find out how you are doing in your courses and she is available to fix any problems you may have. The instructors are very friendly and knowledgeable about the subjects they are teaching you and are also available to answer any questions and offer whatever help you may need. Career services literally will not stop looking for employment for you until you have a job in your field. The best decision I ever made was going to Ross and it has literally changed my life forever!!Carol Riddle

Honestly so disappointed. A complete lack of communication from day one. Today should be my graduation date, and I can't even get an email response about anything. The education I received was so far off track from what I was told I would receive (Billing and Coding) and I think I might be qualified to answer phones and make minimum wage now that I am done. I get plenty of communication about sharing on social media but cannot even get a response about what I am to do next now that my qualifications for completion are met. Updates needed for the sake of the teachers and students as far as efficacy goes. Machinery such as autoclaves and centrifuge could stand to be updated as well. All staff and personnel at Ross is absolutely wonderful and I have and will continue to sing this school's praises. I can't believe how quickly time flies when you're having fun learning and meeting others with the same goals. All teachers were extremely personable and helpful. I will miss my Ross family when I go, but I am so proud of myself and feel so accomplished for exceeding my own expectations here.Renae Cunningham

Unless the problems are resolved, I will be leaving my review at what it is. I started at Terra in January 2019 and currently still enrolled. At this time, I just want to finish and graduate. When I first met with Terra, my advisor was rather "pushy" which I'v dealt with before, no big deal. The thing that stood out though was that she had to tie her success's into every little thing, and not in a good way. She bragged more than she used the information to make me feel better about trusting her. Her tone, to me, implied that she knew more than I and I just need to do as she says. Something I couldn't quite understand though is how none of my credits from Stautzenberger College could transfer. There's quite a few classes I had to re-take because of it. How does nothing transfer from such a highly accredited school like Stautzenberger? Upon showing my schedule to my husband, who had also had scheduling problems at a different college prior, he pointed out some flaws. How was I being scheduled for classes that I hadn't taken the "pre-reqs" for yet? I was also being scheduled for classes during times that they weren't even available. I had also been told that I was looking to graduate Spring of 2020, possibly summer depending on internship and when I decided to do it but because there were classes that I couldn't take when I was scheduled for them, I actually wouldn't have graduated until Spring 2021. Then later finding out that there was a class I NEEDED to complete before even doing my internship, something I wasn't told about either until now. I reached out to this advisor and didn't receive an e-mail back until weeks later, after I sat down and completed my schedule MYSELF. I have half a dozen other students in 1 out of the 6 classes I'm taking that have had similar or exact problems with the same advisor. Flash forward to financial aid. My paperwork was sitting in the "finished" pile while it was actually incomplete. This wasn't realized until I went to the financial aid office in person to find out why nothing was being posted so I could get my bill paid and schedule summer classes. They had been sitting there for weeks. Okay, frustrating but mistakes happen. However, the other morning, I woke up to an email from FAFSA that corrections have been made……on my schools behalf. I logged into my portal and see that the Pell Grants that have been listed for weeks now and that I was TOLD I was going to get (by the same gentleman who left my paperwork sitting unfinished for weeks) for summer and fall are no longer there and everything turned to un-subsidized loans. I reached out yet again (side note: getting quick responses from financial aid OR admissions when you have a problem is extremely difficult), to which I finally did get an e-mail back. In a real short sentence, he apologized, said he had made adjustments that was actually an error on his part, and went back in to adjust it, I should see my grants back up in a few days. Another email this morning, changes again, back into my portal, absolutely nothing has changed. 2019/2020 FAFSA was done, completed and filed, why go back in and make any changes period. Plus, where is the communication? I would love to understand what is going on with MY financial aid and MY classes but nobody seems to want to help and explain anything. I could very well not be entitled to any Pell Grant, but that needs to be communicated with me and told why it's changed even after I had already received them in an award letter. I am beyond tired of this run around. The stress and extra effort are completely unacceptable. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars vs 1 is the fact that unlike my last college, I feel MOST of these professors actually care about my education and me as a human. Update: after a couple weeks of back and forth, the Pell Grants finally posted. However, an issue I was having with my online classes can't really be traced to anything specific. I was actually booted from one of three classes then had to be re-added, and almost booted from another but nobody seems to know why.Heather Myers

Poor…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….They make it very difficult if you are a busy adult (no online or phone registration/deregistration for 1st time students). The tuition is low, but the headaches you will get from the college (applying, registering, high book fees, travel to the middle of no where) make it not worth the price. I have a 4 year Bachelor's Degree and work 40 hours a week in a professional job. I'm also working towards a 2nd Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems by taking evening/online/summer classes. I filled out a application, paid a application fee, and had it in 5 weeks before the start of classes. I was never sent a acceptance letter, phone call, or any information on registering for classes. I was never given a password to apply online. I called the Registration Office several times, but was met with a answering machine. My phone calls would be returned a day or more after I left them. They would leave voicemail messages while I was working. Eventually they told me I would have to get registered in person since I was a first time student. All first time students can only register in person even if you are only taking evening classes part time. I applied to Owens, North Central State, Marion Technical, and Terra for different computer information systems classes. North Central State and Marion Technical are way cheaper and you will be able to talk to a person over the phone. Owens College has the same quality classes for the same price with less hassles.Matthew Clark

I'll give one example of many of why this school is the worst decision you can make in your educational career, today I called for my transcripts and the manager there who name was mark was so idiotic that he didn't even know how to log on to check my transcripts, when he couldn't figure it out he claimed that the school actually can't check the transcript (lol) and that I had to go to a government agency called "student records clearing office" to get the record, all sucking on a lollipop. The sad part was I knew this was going to happen right before I called lol….. Most of these reviews are fake 5 star ones, so I will give an honest review. The staff of this school are uneducated and have no idea how to function in their positions, they are also extremely lazy and disorganized to the point where it is like something out of a movie, they are actually infamous for this and everyone who calls in tells the manager the same thing. The office may also charge you extra and create mistakes for you, I actually personally experienced and had to call to get the fee removed ( I actually educated their financial aid manager on how to actually calculate fees, he apologized and admitted his mistake and then never removed the fee).A Sayed

I ordered one of my books from here using a gift card and a debit card, and it was an absolute mess. I placed this order on 8/22/2018. The staff had placed a call to me that went to my voicemail saying that they needed my code from the back of my card. I did not see that message until yesterday. I called in yesterday during business hours, and no one answered. I call in today only learn that my order had been cancelled without my permission and/or knowledge. There was no follow up call after that initial call, no call to let me know my order had been cancelled. Now I have to reorder my book and pay for express shipping so that I can do my work. If you can buy your books somewhere else, do it.Amy Truckey

If I could put no stars I would. Okay so I was doing pretty well in the college at first all A's and B's everything was going great! Until I ended up having to help out with rent so I had to get a job, and being a mother also I am one of the few who would NOT want to put that much stress (job, kids, and school) on myself. So I call them and tell tell whoever (if only I remembered her name) my situation and how I won't be able to attend anymore, and she ends up asking me all these questions like why am I withdrawing and questions that shouldn't really be asked because she didn't even say it's policy or anything, she just wanted to know. So I tell her I'm starting my new job soon and she asked me the one question that just actually made me done with her, she asked, "Are you sure you're not able to do all 3?" as in all 3 she means taking care of my child, going to work, and going to school. Let that sink in. It actually made me even more frustrated because she was telling me that if I did now it would cost a lot to pay back, but listen if I have to withdraw I have to. There's no 'Are you sure you want to?' So they said they'd call and tell me the rest of the details so we can get through with the withdrawal process and I haven't gotten a call yet but what I did get was an attendance email from Outlook telling me that I won't be able for eligibility for my financial aid if I miss 14 days. Wow. So, I'm going to call them now because this is ridiculous and I do not have time. But if you do go to this school, please be careful. i know that other people will have a better experience or whatever. But this is not one of them.AiKitty Chan

I was excited to start my online career here. However the guy in admissions that was assigned to me was not for me. He was not personable at all I only spoke to him one time and that was for five minutes he never explained anything just said he will send me an email if assessments that was it never heard from him again I tried email him several times never received a email or a phone call until five day later stating to complete more assessments I had questions and he did not answer them . I tried calling to see if I could get someone new they said no I had to work with him. 1. They don’t offer free counseling to students. I can’t imagine a university not caring about their students mental health 2. The bus schedule to pick students up to bring them to the university is unclear and the coach for Soccer said she never sees it either 3. You don’t have a credit union. Many students don’t have credit and credit unions are a great/safe way to help students open up into that world. UW Green Bay has all of these things. When you’re looking for a job they don’t care if you go to a private college or not. Your experience trumps everything, so consider that before applying.Blue Lagoon

I enrolled in the Adult Cosmetology two year program here and from the start my experience was mediocre. During my time there I had teachers come and go, I had 3 teachers through out the program. The first 'instructor' for the first year was more interested in being your friend then a teacher. Talked poorly about other students when they were not around and was more interested in getting her own hair colored the majority of the time instead of teaching. She favorited students and had a lack of caring. Our second instructor was there for a couple months and I had sadly learned more from her in those few months then I had with my first instructor. Our third instructor was the best by far, if only we had had her from the beginning. Now the school itself is shady. A few students and myself were prepared to graduate in July until the head of the Adult Education program came to us and said we had to be done with the program by June, 4 weeks prior. If we did not finish that was on us. I would not recommend this school to ANYONE. Find a better school that will provide you with the best education possible and is worth your money.Marissa Walczak

I was in the cosmetology program graduate in 2019 and I’ve been recommending Polaris to everyone! Best schooling I’ve ever done. my instructor ms.hasan was the best teacher I’ve ever had,she really cared about her students and making sure everyone got everything and made sure you brought the best out of you. She a very caring and loving person and I would not be the stylist/person I am if it wasn’t for her. Every program here is amazing and sets you up for success. I went to OVCT for the MA program. My experience at OVCT was very positive. My number one concern when going to school is knowing that if anything happens they will have my back and during all the situations I went through when attending school they were there to help me out and accommodate my classes so it would be easier for me to finish them without having to drop out school. The staff and instructors are very nice and they help everyone in any way they can. They are kind and friendly and your success is there number one priority. I would drive 1 hr to school and 1 hr back home but it was worth it because I wouldn't find a school with such amazing people near my town. With a person like me with social anxiety and having English as a second language completing a program like Medical Assisting is really a success but I also know that I wouldn't be able to finish the program without the help I received from OVCT.Dejanira Cosme

The nursing program admission process is very easy and Donna will help you to understand the process and all of the requirements to get into the program. Becca will help you to get all of the financial aid requirements completed to get your education funded. All of the nursing instructors are great! They spend alot of time helping the students and assuring that we fully understand the many different topics covered throughout the program. The evening and weekends class/clinical schedule is prefect for people like me who work!Richard Bailey

Ohio Valley College of Technology is a great place to learn. Everyone of the Instructors are always willing to help. I have encountered a few instructors that have gone over an above to help myself as well as other fellow students to succeed. I appreciate all that they do and am very greatful for them.
